Crap crappity crap, the fucking idiot that he was, huh? A mind drowned in excitement over all the weaponry thanks to his overwhelming love and fanboy-ism over Anime and its various genres, one of them including army/weapon focused shows, he had used his quirk so much to test out everything he could by using his own best weapon: the problem was that, the more ice he created, the colder he got and, being the most sensitive area of his body when it came to changes in temperature, his fingers had been afflicted with the initial onset of frostbite. Thankfully, he wasn't fighting so he had more than enough time to notice this and go straight to the medical ward.
It was just some frostbite, he knew that, though the doctors there were weirdly insistent about him staying and tests being done on him to see if it was "normal frostbite". Why would just frostbite, normal or not require blood samples and even a cup of his pee!? It was almost too weird, though he couldn't really complain, they treated his hands quite nicely, with those warm bandages that felt good to have on his skin. He has heard before that bandages like these feel awful, sweaty and itchy. Thankfully, Maxi never naturally sweats because of heat or anything like that, a perk of being as cold as he was. Sweaters during the summer, ice creams during the winter. He had that ultimate freedom and you could be sure as shit that he used it several times before to tease his friends and even his parents whenever he felt like it.
Call it cruel, he called it pranking. Lately though, he never has gotten the chance to do it with the frequency he used to do it before. Life had gotten so serious out of nowhere, he was having trouble to deal with it. Being faced with defeats, being faced with rejection and, equally as difficult to deal with, being faced with people actually liking your touch, to be around you and enjoy your company. People in Japan just seemed to have more people willing to give him a chance than Britain ever did and it was something he appreciated. The worrying, troubling part came when he began thinking about how well or badly he'd react to all of this. He had seen several times before, people that never had something they deeply desired getting it all out of nowhere. They usually felt lost, unable to know what to do with it now that they had it and, a lot of times, grow corrupt with it.
While fixing his hospital gown quietly, Maxi wished and hoped to never have to go through that phase in his life -- that he'll know what to do and how to remain the same guy he has always been when he gets what he wants: human contact, fame, power. If any of those got too much to his head, he didn't know just what he'd do, just what kind of things he might do or say. These thoughts were not particularly pleasing, though what else could he do? Not like anyone would visit him, he didn't say that much about his injuries..

"The Cold never bothered me anyway." -Not Sean
|
Once again, Sean found himself at the Medical & Research area of the military camp. He didn't really have any particular reason to be in this section of the camp. Of course, he chose not to question it. After all, he rode the wave of life, regardless of where it took him. He did not care where in particular the waves carried him, as long as he had a fun time.
Earlier, Sean had too much fun with his quirk. He usually tried not to overuse it, as he did not like the cooling effect it had on his body. However, he pushed it too far without realizing it, and now he was too cold to concentrate properly. So he needed to cool down and wait for his body to warm up again. Thus why he was aimlessly wandering around now.
Speaking of cool, Sean noticed one of his classmates nearby as he continued to walk around. It was Maxi. Sean felt bad that he and Maxi had not really talked much yet. Sean wasn't avoiding him on purpose. He really did want to befriend all of his classmates, Maxi included. However, Sean knew that Maxi's quirk had to do with ice. Sean hated the cold. He absolutely could not tolerate it at all. Still, that was unfair to Maxi. Sean didn't want to ignore him just because his quirk involved something Sean didn't like.
It was decided! Sean went and approached Maxi. He was determined to try to befriend the dude. Who knows, maybe he could learn to tolerate the cold with Maxi's help, just as Sean helped Ryuusei out with his fear of water. Even if that didn't happen, who could say no to more friends?
With his usual smile and wave of his hand, Sean greeted Maxi. "Yo Maxi! How's it going?"

Like, what could he do when his mind was hit with the pressures and the perks of a life of fame and money? He knew how to deal with money pretty well, shit, that's the most he had in life so far, but fame? Right now, no one outside of a very small amount of classmates even knew of his name, much less of his person and he was just fine like that! He knew how to deal with that lowkey, comfortable life that he had grown used to. How would he ever deal with going from a zero to a hero, to be recognized by people he didn't know or care about, to be approached by all sorts of people, some of which he used to possibly admire. He had no idea, he didn't even know if a life of fame was for him. Maybe being the sidekick, to still help inspire people to heroism without having to suffer fame would be better.
Maybe.. uh? What?
Someone was talking to him, with a voice he did not at all recognize. Moving his face around in clear confusion, his eyes landed right on Sean, tilting his head as he tried to remember who that tanned guy was. He knew what class he was in, it was 1-A. He saw him on all the classes, after all! Though.. Uhh.. What was his name? Oh god he doesn't know his name. Was that his level of general uncaringness and apathy towards class 1-A? Did he come to regard them as so low, to have them in mind so little that he barely remembered any of their names, save for a very limited group of "interesting" people? That was depressing, to be actually quite fair. "Uh..eh..yeeeah. It's me. I'm doing well! ..Fuck, dropping the fake shit. What's your name, again?" Maximillian asked, moving a bit on his bed to make sure that he was comfy and close enough to Sean, momentarily unaware that his natural chill was spreading towards Sean, sucking up the heat where both of them were.

Sean laughed a bit upon hearing that Maxi did not remember Sean's name. How relatable. It was nothing short of a miracle that Sean could even remember the names of his teacher and classmates. Still, he could not blame the guy. The two had not exactly interacted with each other outside class, and even then their interactions had been very limited. In all honesty, Sean had not yet done anything to make himself stand out among his classmates. He wanted to try to fix that. The boy did not care whether or not he was popular, but he did want to be known among his classmates and get along with everyone.
"Yo, that's cool. I can understand. The name is Sean Mizushima. A pleasure to get to know you, Maxi!"
As Sean moved in to shake the guy's hand, he noticed how cold the area seemed to be getting. Sean began to visibly shiver. Damn, Maxi sure knew how to make things chilly! It was as though winter had come early, or the blue-haired boy was suddenly transported to Russia. He immediately regretted not having a jacket on him, or even a shirt for that matter.
Instinctively, Sean began to move away from Maxi. Despite not feeling as cold now, Sean felt horrible for what he had done. "D-damn, I'm sorry! I h-hate when this happens!" Great, now Maxi was probably going to think that Sean was avoiding him on purpose. "I j-just really c-can't s-stand the cold. It's nothing p-personal, I p-promise!" Trying his best to not die from the exposure to the cold, Sean shivered as he got closer to Maxi to try to shake the guy's hand again.
Trying his best to make things less awkward than it had already gotten, Sean decided to talk to Maxi some more. Perhaps a nice conversation would fix things? "So if you don't mind me asking, what brings you here? Did something happen to you?"

Gah, of course. He also had a clear problem with his could because why wouldn't he? There must have been a reason on why he avoided being close to him all this time, right? Maximillian did appreciate Sean's attitude in general, at least. Friendly, cheery and even when he was backing away from him and his insufferable cold, he was aknowledging it and apologizing for it, saying that it was nothing personal. Sometimes, Maximillian would be extremely mad with people just backing away from him like that, today, mostly thanks to Sean's generally friendly and polite attitude, he was not only forgiving, he was willing to strain himself further to make sure he could shake his hand.
Maximillian nodded quietly to Sean's introduction, not particularly in the most talkative mood at this point, though refraining from letting his hostile sarcasm slip out that moment. Instead, he got up and exhaled slowly, a slight mist picking up around him. "...hooo.. It's alright." The boy assured him while quietly opening up his arms to a better position where he could flex his muscles. At the same time, he closed his hands, balling them into fists. Clenching quite hard, Maximillian let out a low growl/roar come out of him while something built up inside him. While usually this process would be relatively quick, his tired body needed to strain for a while longer.
Either way, with a louder roar of triumph and of someone who had just done something difficult, the mist became an actual swirling, windy-like fog around him, the boy's skin flushing up a bit.
"This'll be more to your liking.." Maxi assured him, showing unnaturally quick movements as his hand quickly grasped Sean's, showing him that, whatever he had done, the boy's tanned skin was now warm instead of frigid as it usually was. In truth, Maximillian had strained himself to (and strained to keep it active) use his "MM. Freshet Drive" that, while usually just used for how quick it made him, it also made his skin quite warm thanks to the constant release of heat. This time, it just wound up being the first time he used it for a handshake, something he never thought would happen.
He let go of the hand. As quickly as he had gotten out of bed, he got right back in, visibly winded from just that short-lived burst. Laying back down, he looked at Sean to make sure he was now at a safe distance from his cold and only then did he finally start speaking. "Got too excited and used my quirk too much. They treated my frostbite and decided to run some tests on me. Left me tired." He explained in a short and concise manner, looking back at him once he was done replying: he was waiting for his own reason for why was he here, if he looked as healthy as he did.

"The Cold never bothered me anyway." -Not Sean
|
Sean did feel horrible for his dislike of the cold. He could not even begin to imagine what Maxi went through, being cold all the time. It was a massive relief to hear Maxi say it was alright. Sean became worried a bit when Maxi got up from his bed. Was it really a good idea for him to do so?
That's when Sean noticed it. Mist was surrounding Maxi. Sean was confused upon hearing Maxi letting out a low growl or roar. Just what was he up to? Suddenly, the mist became more like a windy fog. Maxi then assured Sean that this will be more to his liking. Sean was confused, until Maxi suddenly grabbed the boy's hand with his own. To Sean's surprise, his hand was not frigid or even cool. On the contrary, it felt quite warm. "Woah! This is awesome! How did you do that?"
However, once he was done shaking Sean's hand, Maxi went back to his bed, visibly winded. Sean was a bit worried. Did he have to strain himself just to do that? All to be able to return Sean's handshake without freezing him? "Maxi, thank you. I appreciate you going out of your way to shake my hand without freezing me. Still, are you okay? I don't want you to strain yourself, especially because of me."
It seemed as though Maxi was okay, or at least not too badly hurt. He answered Sean's earlier question. Apparently, he had used his quirk too much. He even had frostbite, which had to be treated by doctors. "That sounds intense. I hope it wasn't too bad." Still, how coincidental it was for the two to end up here for similar reasons. Sean had also overused his quirk, though apparently not to the same extent as Maxi. "Honestly, I overused my own quirk as well. It leaves my body freezing if I use it too much. I was just going on a walk to pass the time until my body warmed up on its own."
Speaking of passing the time, Sean wondered what the two could talk about. He then had an idea. "Hey Maxi. Sometime after you feel better, could you help me get used to the cold? I want to try to overcome one of my greatest weaknesses. More importantly, I really want to be able to stay close to you without you needing to use whatever that was you used earlier. I hate the idea of avoiding a classmate just because of the cold." Sean did not know if Maxi would even want to do so. Still, he wanted to give it a shot. After all, Sean did want to at least try to befriend and get along with all of his classmates, and there was no way he would leave Maxi out of the potential fun.
