How does a boy, lazy and negative of a person as he is, constantly convinced of the existence of an inevitable fate that would be his own obscurity have the energy and the motivation to be in the combat area so surprisingly early? Well, it mostly festered from his desire to breka out of this "inevitable fate" with the unnatural power he was given. He noticed but one thing whenever he read one of those philosophical books that condemned the human situation as always leading to a miserable fate of obscurity and uselesness. What they never mentioned, specially since the different factor was relatively simple was quirks. Quirks.
The ultimate "finger" for the scale of human condition, it had been obvious from very early on to Maximillian that his quirk was great enough to tip the scales and achieve such a state of greatness and power that he'd never be forgotten and admired for millenia to come. He had the latent desire to leave a permanent mark upon the world, though to this effect, he had to train. Train train train, study and improve.
Right now, after taking a good while to learn and practice a bit with his technique, the frozen brit had learned to create six blades out of ice, remotely controllable which, just by itself, was a tremendous change to the way he approached his fights: it allowed him to be a Mid-Range, AOE fighter without having to constantly create ice and exhaust himself, instead allowing him to focus his power on regenerating the blades or the occasional blast.
It was the best idea he had ever gotten so far and, honestly, he didn't think he'd ever regret doing it and, by extension, coming to the military camp where he learned it.
Sliding his fingers through his religiously combed hair, to guarantee that the blue spiked mess was the same it always was, he looked over his clothing, to make sure it was up to par to what he wanted for today. Today, he decided to skip wearing his normal clothing, instead choosing for higher quality pieces: a costly pant and jacket plain black and white tracksuit combo, his usual, tough and durable shoes that barely showed any sign of wear and next to no sign of dirtyness. While his golden eyes glided all over himself to make sure he was presentable for the day, in front of him, six blades: made out of ice, sharpened all around, polished and uniform compared to each other hovered right in front of him, occasionally moving around a bit to try out formations: defensive crosses, offensive stabs, a flurry of slashes comboed with two spinning blades, having them spin quickly around him to deflect projectiles and, in the end of it, throwing all of them at the opponent, for an ultra stab. Those were just some of the millions of combinations and forms he could try, it was all so exciting!..
Secretly though, Maxi was just waiting for someone to come challenge him so he could have some practice. All the books he read on fighting and war all made sure to say just how important experience was in the long run.

Kenshin never really liked guns. Sure, people could argue that guns could be used to protect lives, not just take them away. True, that was a good point. Still, guns just did not compare to swords for the white and black haired boy. To him, guns were just tools meant to end lives. There was no beauty in guns like there were for swords. They were just ugly in comparison. So why was Kenshin in the military event to begin with? He was not too keen on the military itself, either. So what exactly brought him here? The simple answer was power. Just as a blade needed to be honed, sharpened, and oiled periodically to prevent rust, Kenshin needed to improve his skills, lest he be left behind in the dust. With villains on the rise, Kenshin was determined to continue his mother's vigilante legacy, and for that, he needed to train more. After losing to Tetsuko back in that dojo, Kenshin was determined never to lose to her, or anyone else, ever again. Looking around, Kenshin wasn't too impressed with the various military equipment and weapons he saw. It would only take a few years, decades at most, for quirks to completely outclass guns, tanks, grenades, etc. He supposed that it would be nice to look at them now while he still could. But Kenshin just didn't care about any of it. What did impress the boy, however, were the various people with quirks who were training together. Ah, now this looked like fun. Kenshin decided to watch a group of people spar for a bit before moving on to the next group of people. He kept this going until his excitement reached its highest point. The will to fight strongly burning, Kenshin looked around for an opponent. He wanted... no, he needed to fight! There had to be someone out there who was also looking for a challenge, right? Suddenly, Kenshin began to shiver. How the hell did it become cold all of a sudden? Kenshin then noticed something that intrigued him greatly. Six blades made entirely of ice. They were being controlled by a blue haired person. Ah, that explains the sudden chill. Despite the drop in temperature, Kenshin was still fired up, eager to have a battle to test his blade. Approaching the ice user, Kenshin decided to get straight to business. "Cool blades, no pun intended. You interested in putting them to the test? I'm looking for someone to spar with at the moment, and you look like you'd be an actual challenge. So what do you say?"Kenshin was eager to get started, but of course he had to wait for the guy to actually accept, assuming he even does want to fight. | Word count: 389
Notes: I promise to cool it with the ice puns. ...Sorry

The literal cold battery itself was choosing to rest while waiting for said previously mentioned practice, for he had already gotten one spar this very morning, conveniently one against a certain swordsman, who also happens to be the girlfriend of the lil' doctor that helped him with his exhausted, frostbitten body before. The fight obviously wasn't an easy one, her swordsmanship was at the level of the greatest fighters of legend, his was still just passable and nothing else.
Suffice to say, he didn't come out of it in perfect shape, though at least he was still intact, still with energy and enough time to recover what he had lost to fight another day!
Back to the present, Maxi opened one eye to direct his gaze towards the clearly male, though very much young voice that came to talk to him, obviously being taken to the first thing he ever saw: that god damn hair. Yeah he was cute, but that hair was ridiculous. Was he about to seriously accept fighting Mr. Fudgie the Whale-hair himself right now? Ya god damn right. Stupid hair or no stupid hair, a fight was a fight and fights were what he was looking to do right now. "Uh yeah, sure. What's ya name and how old are you, actually? You look young enough for me to be scared of your relationship with your parents for you to be out here challenging random super-powered strangers for a fight -- though I do assume you have powers, if you have the balls to come to Mr. Milkshakes over here." Three very striking features about Maxi's demeanor and his voice: British, Talkative, Sarcastic as all fuck. A slight other feature was his apprehension over actually accepting the fight from this boy, in hindsight. Fair's fair, even if he didn't know it, they were just one year appart, though Puberty had been quicker and much more pleasant for Mr. Milkshakes than expected: his skin was nigh perfect, save for his covered, deeply scarred arms, his height that gave him quite the boost over Kenshin, a solid 14 CM of difference actually, along with a stark difference in muscle mass. Maxi's growth spurt had given him broader shoulders and more muscle mass, visible on how thick their arms visibly were.
What the shit, though. He has seen more than enough weird fucking crap to actually use typical reason when it comes to people and their strength to take something for granted. A look at the person he hates most wouldn't tell you that she's the stone destroying physical powerhouse that she actually is, but fucking surprise. "Though if you are willing to still show me those balls, -- heh.. balls. -- AHEM, yeah, if you are still willing, It's far beyond me to turn away a fight." Ah, his lewd nature coming forward, along with the slight immaturity he didn't think he'd ever let go of. Ah, thinking too much about balls always made him giggle like a ten year old girl.
Serious time, now. With a simple press of his foot to the ground directly in front of him made Maxi surprisingly slide back a bit, a small trail of ice that quickly wilted into dampness on the ground appearing right after, the ice only having been created for its creator's mobility. Crossing both of his arms behind his back to make sure he only focused his mind on using the blades to attack and his body to only dodge and reposition himself and nothing else, he felt like he should give the warning. "By the way-- I know some people would see this as mockery, or like I'm not taking it serious.. I'm just training to be able to fight with only the blades and not my body!" Alright, warning given, positions taken, Maximillian was ready to fight the very moment that Kenshin was: he just needed to give the signal.

The more the blue-haired ice user spoke, the more annoyed Kenshin became. Does he really think I'm a kid? It's only been a few months since I turned 14! It's not my fault puberty is taking its sweet time to kick in for me! Kenshin quickly set aside his thoughts, not wanting to let the ice user know that he had successfully gotten under Kenshin's skin. Kenshin then spoke, his words about as cool as the air around him. "Don't worry about my age. I'm not a child if that's what you were thinking. I'm older than I look. Anyway, my name is Kenshin. And what's yours? Or do you want me to just refer to you as Ice Boy?"Kenshin honestly didn't care if the ice person introduced himself or not. He just wanted Ice Boy to accept his fight. Fortunately for him, it seemed as though the fight was on. Kenshin smiled. However, it seemed that Ice Boy was aiming to fight using only his ice blades. He wasn't going to get involved himself. Part of his training, apparently. Kenshin was fine with this. All right, with everything out of the way, and both males ready to fight, it was time to begin the battle. Transform! Upon activating his quirk, Kenshin's body was immediately covered in a grid of intersecting green lines. On top of this grid, Kenshin's red armor materialized. The white hair-like cape extended out of the back of his helmet. The dark visor appeared over his eyes. Once his transformation was complete, Kenshin raised his right hand and morphed it into a red blade of hard light. Kenshin then went into a battle stance, ready to rush in at a moment's notice. "Here's my quirk. Now if you're ready, let's start." Kenshin was looking forward to seeing what Ice Boy could do. He was going to enjoy this. | Word count: 313

Really, there's no reason to blame Maximillian for his genuine worry over hurting someone younger than him. From his youth, back in England, he always saw the horrors that the younger people felt at the hands of older kids. Rudeness, beatings, muggings, intimidation. All sorts of things were seen by his very own eyes, things he never wanted to see again, even if it was from him, even if it was consensual. He had a thing against hurting younger people, something he might have to break away as he ages and becomes a hero.
Who knows what kind of hooligans a 20 year old Maximillian might have to fight? Who knows what kind of rampaging, confused children might he have to smack and pacify? He needed to get over his own complexes and setbacks, to unlock his mind and rise right above.
A cold sigh slipped from Maximillian's lips, his sharp, golden eyes sealing themselves for just a second so that he could focus himself once again. This was his second fight this morning, with someone he had never heard of or even talked to, for that matter. This was just some suspiciously young-looking kid wanting a friendly sparring match, which meant he shouldn't go too far. He shouldn't actually hold back that much either, since that would just be disrespecting Kenshin. To have the balls to come to him, he should honor him.
Specially one with a quirk such as his, it was basically ripped off of a god damn anime! Not the bad anime with suits either, it was like those really awesome anime, actually! Actually, he might just want to make this boy, this armored fighter his fan -- Maximillian needed to start spreading his fame and having someone as cool as him would be a huge boost. "That armor belongs to a proper hero." Maxi confessed, still holding his hands together behind his back, being forced to create a ring around his wrists to keep them locked there: so many times already he had tried to instintively get them back, to move around his blades: unecessary moves, he only used his mind. The hand movements he always did just served to guide his mind.
He had to only use his mind. Quietly staring at Kenshin, he created two groups of three blades, separate from each other, at his left and right sides, in a slightly diagonal angle, that lead into him. One of the blades levitated directly in front of the two other blades, beggining to rapidly spin upon its own axis: it would serve as a shield. The two behind the "shield" would just slash as they could.
Once the formations were correct, he pushed the blades forward with his mind, remaining relatively well focused while, at the same time, the four blades tried to slash at Kenshin. Though expectedly predictable, due to the amount of blades, just the sheer amount of blades was more than enough to compensate for this.

Kenshin smiled when Maxi told him his armor belonged to a proper hero. "Thank you!" Kenshin was proud of his quirk. It was a mix of his dad's armor plus his mom's blade arms. Every time he transformed, it reminded him of his parents, and how they kicked criminal ass together. Although their crime fighting days were over, Kenshin was determined to continue their legacy and make them proud. Kenshin did not make a move yet, letting Maxi get the first attack. He watched as the ice user summoned forth six blades of ice. Two spun rapidly to act as a shield, while the other four began swinging as they approached Kenshin. They were predictable in their patterns, but the number of blades compensated for this. Kenshin smiled, eager for a challenge. With a battle cry, Kenshin dashed forward and swung his sword, using the forward momentum of his dash to increase the force of his swinging blade. Upon making contact with one of the ice blades, Kenshin was surprised it did not immediately shatter upon impact. The ice blades were more durable than he thought. He backed away a bit, just barely dodging the ice blades. Time to rethink this. There was already a problem. Despite Kenshin's hand being transformed into a sword, it was still his hand. He could still feel the cold. Without protection, touching the icy blades for an extended period of time was very unwise. He needed to find a way to break the ice blades without staying in contact with them for too long. The last thing he needed was frostbite on his hand. In addition to that, he needed to end this fight quickly. His transformation had a limited duration, so time was of the essence. He needed to avoid dragging the battle out too long. Kenshin began to think. Just going in with sword hand swinging was not going to be enough to beat Ice Boy. He needed to strategize. Kenshin needed to use his swordsmanship training to wear down the ice swords and target their weak points. He had the advantage in both speed and sword technique, and he would need to utilize both in this fight. With another battle cry, Kenshin rushed in once more, aiming for the ice blade he had struck earlier. That one had already taken a hit, so it was more likely to break than the others. Whether that blade would break from Kenshin's next attack still remained to be seen, however. | Word count: 416
Notes: His armor does look like it was straight out of an anime lol

Question one: Can the boy defend himself? Yes, the answer was a full, resounding yes that made Maximillian's heart, usually so lazy and aloof, more in tune with the simple things in life like ice cream and naps actually skip a beat. Not in infatuation, nothing of the sort. Like so many people like him who never find it out, he had just recently found his: even after losing his first ever two fights in such a humiliating manner, his heart had finally awoken to love the violence and to cherish the struggle that it was to overpower someone else.
The love for the fight was something that didn't come naturally to everyone. Some had to practice and foster it, to really let themselves go free and easy -- to just enjoy what they were doing. Some needed to control it, to take the reins of their unsaciable desire for fighting that constantly lead so many people before into a path of pure ruination, a path that they'd never return from, so much so that they inevitably died alone, desolate and defeated. There were even a considerable amount of people who just abhorred fighting itself, either choosing not to or outright refusing to fight, no matter what. Pacifists, they called themselves. Maximillian respected that sentiment, even if he secretely felt like they were just cowards patting themselves on the back.
No, in his own opinion, Maxi had a natural love for fighting that he just never had the chance of really waking up. Only in moments like these, where he was matched and surprised did his heart start beating faster, his lips actually naturally smiling. Those golden eyes of his sharpened up, akin to those of a viper on its hunt for prey. Right now, Kenshin had the meal that he desired, one to feed his desire for violence! "YES! Fight back, show me the spirit of a swordsman!" He wanted to learn, to see - to feel! He needed to know everything about the spirit of a true swordsman, someone who was figuratively born with the blade in hand!
Advancing with slow steps as he was initially driving Kenshin back, the excitement almost palpable in his face, the swordsman supposedly came back at him with a strategy that Maximillian himself picked up on quite quickly. As the controller of the ice, he was constantly aware of the damage it took and dealt: right now, he was aiming to hit the one he had already chipped a bit off of, something that even if he was realistically expecting it, it was none the less startling. Quick, quicker than what he thought!
Focusing his mind, he sped up the usual process that he'd use for his blades, which was just regenerating them whenever they got damaged, for whatever reason it might be. Using this unexpected durability against Kenshin, the blade that it clashed against raised itself in a brutish manner, attempting to parry his strike.
The four free blades? Licking his lips to keep them moisturised, a little reflex act that he always did when focusing on something he found to be going in his favor, they all pointed towards his armor, specifically, his chest. They tried to stab at it, to test its durability in the face of sharp, pointy blades.

As Kenshin continued driving the ice blades back, his smile grew more and more. The boy simply loved to battle. The more intense and difficult, the better. His very soul felt like it was on fire. The only question that remained was whether or not said fire would burn hot enough to be able to melt the ice. Kenshin then noticed the ice blade he had hit earlier. Damn it, it seemed to be able to regenerate! Kenshin either needed to hit it hard enough to be able to break it in one attack, or he needed to rush in and unleash a quick barrage of attacks that could wear the ice blade down faster than it could regenerate. Either way, his goal was to destroy as many ice blades as he could before his transformation ran out. Kenshin then noticed the ice blades aiming for his chest. He wasn't too concerned, as the red parts of the armor were as durable as stone, and that included his chest. Still, Kenshin could not afford to let the ice blades hit the emblem on his chest. If that were struck, then his transformation would end immediately, and the fight would be over instantly. He could not let that happen. With all of his might, Kenshin parried the ice blades that were closest to his emblem. The other blades hit the red armor, but did not penetrate through. They merely pushed Kenshin back a bit. Damn it! Kenshin may have driven the blades back for now, but Maxi had undoubtedly noticed Kenshin blocking the ice blades that aimed for his emblem. Now Maxi had a target he could aim for. In addition to that emblem, Maxi could also try to strike the emblem on Kenshin's other hand, the one that wasn't currently a blade. Rushing in once more, Kenshin unleashed a barrage of slashes at one of the ice blades, hoping to wear it down enough to the point where he could shatter the thing. As he did this, Kenshin tried his best not to stay in one spot for too long. The last thing he needed was for Ice Boy to have an easy time hitting either of the emblems. There was one thing Kenshin had to admit. Despite the urgency and his sword hand getting more and more cold and numb, Kenshin was having the time of his life. He hoped that he could win the battle soon, but he wished it could go on for as long as possible. | Word count: 420

Rule of Fighting! If the opponent is being very defensive with something, hit it harder! That goes for both emotional and physical fights, interestingly.
What did this rule actually tell him? The insignia that Kenshin had on his chest and quite probably the one he also has on his untransformed hand are weak points that he should be focusing all of his fire power onto, since aiming for the weak point is generally the best strategy anyone can really whip up in the sudden!
Rule of Fighting! If you know about something crucial to the defeat of an opponent, assume that the opponent knows this as well and, inevitably, better than you.
Of course he couldn't just go ahead and outright try to hit it harder, specially not when he was sure that Kenshin knew, better than anyone, just how weak his "weakpoint" was, what hitting this weakpoint did to him and, quite possibly, the area around him -- among other things that Maximillian really couldn't know in a first battle. What he not only knew, but was dead-sure was that the enemy swordsman knew very well to protect his weakpoint, specially if he started going at it right away.
If he did that, if he begun an entire barrage aimed at his chest, he would just close that off in a defensive stance, then everything that would happen was just the closing of the only real good point to hit and everything goes to shit. No, he needed to find a proper breach and capitalise on it, preferably through deception and, in last case, through brute force. He wasn't afraid of just losing the "arm behind back" thing if it means winning: he ain't a loser or a pussy, he is always looking to win.
In that vein, Rule of Fighting! Observe, Plan, Act. While there is worth in skipping directly to the act part and just let yourself go, the usual and oftenmost the best way to go about fighting itself is to always have a plan and a backup, even if you have to make it in five seconds while the enemy inexplicably stands still to charge an attack and you even more inexplicably stand still for him to do that.
What did he observe? He observed that Kenshin defends the circular insignia-thingamabobs on his free hand and specially his chest. What was the plan? Thanks to one of the previous rules mentioned, he was quite sure that Kenshin knew very well about his weakpoints as well and was always ready to defend them from an onslaught. A one-hit wonder would be his best bet.
Act. Thankfully for himself, the young boy seemed to fight on a more "the best defense is a good offense" sort of thing, since after nearly striking at his insignia-thingamabob, he began getting desperate, constantly striking at his ice blades, wether it be in their shield forms or blade forms. Not caring to give them the regenerative power he gave before, he let him actually gain ground. Hell, he even backed away, "looking increasingly worried". That was, gritting his teeth, focusing his eyes on Kenshin, that sort of stuff. Sidenote,
Rule of Fighting! Your body language matters a lot, so make sure to always convey what you want to convey! (In this case, he wishes to convey fear and struggle).
Secretely though, he knew very well that if this worked, if this arguably safe, though effective plan worked, he'd have the boy in his palm and could easily crush him. Everything was set in place: His "only" method of attacking was being progressively overwhelmed, the one controlling that method of attacking clearly seemed to be struggling more and more, he was gaining ground in his offensive!
Rule of Fighting! If a method of attack is "showing" itself to be optimal for an enemy, it is to be expected that he continues using this optimal method of attack. Back on track -- It was quite likely that Kenshin would continue being on the offensive, caring little for defending against a sneaky counter attack. How sneaky? Behind his back, he had formed a simple rough, pointy icicle he could easily control, even hovering it behind his back as he backed away. By the time the fourth blade was shattered, still without moving his arms, he tried shooting the shard directly at the hopefully exposed chest, directly into the insignia! Now, to see where this goes!
Honestly, he should be writing these down, if he wasn't in a fight, that is.

Kenshin continued to hack at the ice blades, despite his sword hand becoming more and more numb. Crap, this was not good. Kenshin needed to finish this quickly. The last thing he needed was for his fingers to become seriously injured. As he continued to slice at the ice blades, Kenshin noticed that the ice stopped regenerating. In fact, the blades were slowly retreating. Did Ice Boy have a limit to what he could do? If so, Kenshin would capitalize on it and gain an overwhelming advantage. Kenshin looked at Maxi. The look on his face suggested that he was getting increasingly worried. Perhaps Ice Boy was approaching his limit after all. Kenshin backed away and then dashed as fast as he could, putting as much force as he could into his next strike. Upon coming into contact with one of the ice blades, it actually shattered! Kenshin smiled. He could do this! Repeating the same maneuver, Kenshin destroyed two more ice blades. He smirked. His transformation would not last much longer, but he was confident that he could finish shattering the rest of the ice blades before then. This match was as good as over! Unfortunately, in the midst of the battle, Kenshin had forgotten one very important thing. A lesson that would immediately come back to bite him. Never judge something by sight alone. Kenshin had seen Maxi growing increasingly worried and defensive, but he failed to consider the possibility that it was nothing more than a ruse. As Kenshin shattered the fourth ice blade, he noticed it. A sharp pointy icicle was coming in from behind, aiming at his exposed emblem. It was then that Kenshin realized Maxi's cunning plan. The ice user had played Kenshin like Kenshin played his bass guitar. Very damn well. Kenshin swung his blade arm in a vain attempt to drive away the shard of ice. It was too late. The ice shard pressed against the emblem on Kenshin's chest with enough force to push Kenshin to the floor. Immediately after being hit, the emblem began glowing. Kenshin's armor began to dematerialize, leaving the green grid covering Kenshin's body. This too vanished after a few seconds. Sighing, Kenshin looked over at Maxi while still on the floor. "Damn it. You got me good. It looks like you're the winner of this fight. That was a nice plan, even if it was a bit underhanded."Getting up, the first thing Kenshin did was look at the hand that had been transformed into a blade. It was covered in cuts and bruises. His fingers felt cold and numb. Perhaps it was for the best that the battle had ended when it did. The last thing Kenshin needed was frostbite. Still, he needed to go get his hand treated. But first... "Hey, may I know what your name is? You never did introduce yourself, you know. I just like knowing the names of my opponents. It makes all of the good fights that much more memorable to me." | Word count: 503

Rule of Fighting! As a hero, any way to achieve victory avaiable to you must be considered! Who will criticize it, the villain you defeat? The hero who won't stick his neck out but will still talk shit? Indeed, why should Maximillian care if a technique or tactic used to win was, as one might see it, "underhanded"? From what Maxi could personally say, he would have never even batted an eye if the speedster that saved him those many years ago had instead used sneaky, underhanded tactics to defeat the burglars that broke in his house. Neither will anyone reasonable, for that matter: they will be happy that they are safe and sound, not offended that the hero who literally saved their necks by sticking out his own didn't use direct attacks. Surprising, how one can even have in mind several rules of fighting even at the end of a fight. That one where it simply taught you to have no shame in using "underhanded" techniques was not all that he realized with this fight: there was still another. Rule of Fighting! If you can defeat someone with 50% of your power, use only 50% of your power. Overkill is not only unecessary, but also detrimental.
Why would it be detrimental? Well, it all comes down to the context of the subject who has this rule in mind being a hero, who is publicly fighting a villain -- quite likely being recorded by several cameras, be it by the press' cameramen or private citizens, it is inevitable that often, a lot of people will watch you closely: including villains. Using everything you got when there is no necessity to use it is simply giving away your secrets to people who only want to do you harm for nothing at all in return. Hell, it can even be bad for possible rematches, since the villain, should he in any way return, will know the extent of your abilities and inevitably have prepared for them. Hell, with how easy it is to actually get inside the military camp these days, it felt inevitable the possbility of some low-key villains being among the civilians.
The second rule didn't apply that much here, save for the rematch part. If they were ever to cross paths again, Maximillian would still have most of his versatile techniques and fighting style to compensate for what Kenshin already knows, so even if Kenshin is somehow a surprisingly young and friendly villain, Maximillian will still have the edge in future encounters.
For now though, it is to assume that Kenshin, just like everyone present, is innocent. Slowly walking towards him, Maximillian extended his right hand towards the boy, hoping that he could tolerate the strong chill of his skin and simply use it to get up. "Underhanded or not, I still won and that's what matters when you're a hero. You'll have to swallow pride and honor if you want to win and save people whenever possible. To me, there ain't bigger crime a hero can commit than to let someone die because of one's stubborn honor." Ew, god, he was becoming his teacher with this lecturing. Still, it was necessary for him to keep in mind, in case both had the same objectives for the future. Who knew, if Kenshin really was as young as Mr. Milkshakes first assumed, he could easily be waiting for highschool so he can apply to U.A! In that case, it was best if he simply introduced himself fully. Still holding Kenshin's hand, the tanned boy shook it for a while, soon letting go. "Maximillian Tychus Kane, from England. A pleasure to know you." The boy happily greeted, soon backing away from the swordsman so that both had some personal space, as well as letting Kenshin stand on a place that isn't being constantly sucked off of all the heat it has.

Defeat. It always left a bitter taste in Kenshin's mouth. It was always a great disappointment to end a good fight in defeat. The prideful boy hated to lose, but he was not one of those sore losers who could not take defeat well at all. Despite Ice Boy's maneuver being a bit underhanded, he did not cheat. And at the end of the day, that was what let Kenshin keep his respect for the ice user. Then, just like a wise teacher to a pupil still learning, Ice Boy told Kenshin that being a hero was more important than pride. Kenshin did not need this lesson taught to him again. His mother had already lectured him many times. After each sword lesson, Kenshin would lay on the floor, defeated. His mother would help him up and explain one thing that the boy did wrong that resulted in his defeat. Kenshin could still remember the words she told him once. "Pride and honor can be great things, my son. But when misused, they can also be quite dangerous. Never let your desire to fight fair and honorably cloud your judgment. You may fight with honor and treat your opponents with respect, and that is very commendable of you. However, you must never assume that your opponents shall return that same honor and respect! If you truly wish to follow in my footsteps and become a savior of the people, you need to remember one thing, Kenshin. Always place the lives you've sworn to protect over yourself and your pride! Never forget that pride and honor means nothing if a hero can't save even a single life!"Ice Boy then introduced himself. So his name was Maximillian. After shaking his hand, Kenshin decided to introduce himself as well, despite already giving his name earlier. "Kenshin Akadama, from Tokyo. And likewise."Kenshin had once again looked at his injured hand. It was probably wise to get that hand checked as soon as possible. He hoped that the damage was not too serious. Before leaving, Kenshin had one final thing to say. "Hey Maximillian, let's battle again one day. I'll get stronger and better, so I won't be repeating today's results next time. I hope you don't slack off. I want to beat you at your best!"With that done, Kenshin headed off and waved goodbye to the ice user. He hoped their paths would cross again one day. If they did fight again, Kenshin would prove to be much more formidable of an opponent. He was determined to not lose again. "Ciao!" | Word count: 430
Notes: A fine way to wrap up the battle imo

Hm, inexplicably, Kenshin seemed to not be surprised by what he told him. Likely, he already knew this, wether by realising this by himself, wether by having it been told to him by someone before. Mentor, tutor? Maybe a martial arts master which he trained under. Maybe it was just his parents who, quite likely, were heroes themselves. Not even he had this much desire to be a good fighter and a hero at his age and he had an idol in the form of that Speedster. No -- this desire for fighting and improvement surely had to stem from good parents, which was just fine by him. There were thousands of ways to be a good parent, after all.
His were calmer, stricter though always loving. They forced him, from an young age, to teach himself the fundamentals of life: at the beggining, they would occasionally give him a tip or a push towards the right answer. By the time he was ten, even up to now, he had to teach himself said values, which his parents would just give a "yes" or a "no". 'Course, they never refused to answer a question if their son just couldn't figure it out, they were strict, not cruel.
"Sure. Maybe then, you'll force all of my techniques to come out!" That sounded a bit cocky, kinda dickish. Mostly his british accent, but also because he wanted it to sound kinda dickish. From the little he saw of Kenshin's personality, he was a boy that strived to always be better, while always holding a motivated fire within his heart. Fanning the flames, throwing some coal onto it through seeming like a bit of a cocky ass would, on his opinion, be more than enough to really motivate Kenshin to improve and topple Mr. Milkshakes in the future. Still didn't mean like he'd just stay still, not at all. He was going to improve, he was going to become the ice master he always imagined himself to be.
Rule of Fighting! Not all fights should be against enemies. Not all fights should hold animosity. Sometimes, fighting someone in a friendly spar is the best way of making allies -- and allies are a hero's greatest asset.
