Having been doing her little combat demonstrations with the military for the past few days, Mia was finally starting to feel some wear and tear from the constant fighting. Her advanced healing was still pretty weak given she'd only recently begun to tap into that aspect of her bodily mutations, and as such, when she pushed herself a little too far in her last fight against the quirkest soldiers that wanted to prove their military might against her, while a win had for her had been the end result, she'd managed to dislocate one arm and get a few deep scratches in the other where a rather desperate soldier had 'accidentally' landed teeth first in her forearm...sure she may have been aiming for his face anyway but did the fucker have to bite just to get his own back.
Whatever the case, the end result had been a trip to the med-bay, nothing too serious, just getting someone more professional to pop her shoulder back into place, something she could usually do by herself, but this time it just seemed a little too difficult for her. She also needed some bandages wrapped around her forearm and some general disinfectant treatment. She didn't exactly trust some ratty soldier not to have something crawling around in his vile ass mouth. So much filth about quirkers was coming out of it after she'd kicked his ass she was tempted to call toxic waste disposal and have them investigate the fucker's gob.
"Thank luv...you guys seem a lot nicer than the footsoldiers..." She and the nurse shared a brief smirk before Mia let her finish handling the bandages, a thin layer covering most of her forearm now, and she briefly tested bulking up her muscles to make sure it wouldn't rip at all. "Nice work...can see yer good with your hands." She offered a cheeky smirk and a flirty wink, but recieved naught but a roll of the eyes in turn, Mia frowing just a little but taking it more in stride than not, looking down to her arm in her lap and flexing her muscles again just to doubly make sure her arm wasn't about to pop out of it. Satisfied but more just testing it out of a loose form of habit, her eyes drifted up and caught a similar shade of gold to her own hair, one she recognized from walking about a day or so ago, a girl sitting on a nearby bed in this open treatment area seeming to be getting some little treatment of her own, though, in a fairly quiet place and with neither of them able to go anywhere else, Mia leaned over, her elbows resting on her knees as she dipped her chin up towards other girl.
"Hey, blondie. I see you fightin' some soldiers the other day?" She lifted her unbandaged arm, flexing the fingers of the hand. "Little miss boom boom?" She was prepared to apologize if she was wrong, but she was pretty sure she was in the right on this one. Was hard to forget a face that could literally make an explosive loud enough to block out the sound of a cheering crowd.

Jaz hissed lowly as one of the nurses had been working on her injuries, glaring up at the woman quietly although it seemed like she was completely ignoring the blonde lioness and any silent complaints she might have had. Honestly she was probably used to patching up soldiers much worse off than she was, especially considering that some of those soldiers she put there herself. She snorted at the thought. Then again, they were the ones who picked a fight with her. Without even asking her if she wanted to participate, might she also add. Sitting on the edge of her bed as her bruises were being cleaned out and bandages applied to her arms from her elbows to her knuckles, she sighed; she would've much preferred if Rin was the one patching her up. Sure, the little Raven would've likely given her shit for getting herself into trouble again but, hey, at least she'd show some modicum of care. They might have also went out to get some food straight after. That last time was a blessing.
As soon as the older nurse was done Jasmine stretched in her seat, eyebrows furrowing as she felt a little strain in her limbs. These past couple of days had been nothing but fighting, training, fighting, training, fighting and then some. Maybe she had been pushing herself a little hard lately. Though she was pretty sure she'd damn herself into oblivion if she didn't utilize this chance that Yuuei had given them. It wasn't every day that you got to test yourself against the people who were supposedly trained to kill and protect an entire country. Though it was funny how half the time she had found herself fighting kids from Yuuei instead of actual soldiers. The thought made her sigh for what seemed like the umpteenth time. People just wouldn't get off of her case.
Hey, blondie. I see you fightin' some soldiers the other day?
Blinking, the lioness turned over her shoulder. Okay, the very first thing she saw was the horn, immediately making her want to ask ...unicorn? But she bit it down in an attempt not to seem like a cheeky asshole. The older female had flexed her muscles and said something about booms that awfully reminded her of her homeroom teacher. She rolled her eyes and snorted with some amusement, "Clearly harder than a hand grenade if you ask the guys in the other medical wing," she said, glancing at the woman. She... didn't she seem familiar? Jasmine couldn't sworn she had seen her somewhere... fighting? Yeah.... Yeah. She was fighting some guys in the octagon where she herself fought Darren, hadn't she?
Curious, Jasmine sat on the bed crosslegged, tilting her head to the side, eyes narrowing a little, "Didn't you beat the shit out of that one Sergeant and almost get kicked out?" She asked, genuinely curious, if not a little amused. Yeah that sergeant was being an ass and did deserve what was coming to him but at the same time this woman had seemed utterly oblivious to the fact that it was, in fact, a sergeant she was curbstomping. That was pretty funny, she wasn't going to lie.

Laughing loudly at the girl's comment about the damage the boys had been dealt compared to her, Mia's voice was loud and hearty, not one to suppress her emotions at all and always flipping a coin on whether something earned a bellowing laugh or a cheeky snicker, with some leeway given the situation of course. "Yeah maybe I should, then again pretty sure half the soldiers on this base ain't exactly on my side, and those that are might be a little scared to see me after what I did to their mates!~" She lightly cracked her knuckles with a smirk as she hinted at her own escapades, but quickly winced with a faint twinge of regret as the force needed to do so traveled down her arm to her light rounds and stung throughout the rest of her arm, rolling her neck back with a sigh and holding her bandages as the pain faded.
She scoffed softly as the girl made her own observations, grinning a little and clenching her fist, notably not the one with bandages up the arm as she rested that one over her knee. "Hah! Close enough! I think the only thing I beat outta him specifically was his pride, but knowing these military types he'll get a false sense of it back in no time flat." She leaned over a little to better talk to the interesting blonde, her sharp canines punctuating her smile like the jagged spike of a heartbeat monitor. "See what happened was I mouthed off when they tried given me a presentation, wanted to get a pro hero on side and promote the military ya know? I said I was worth 6 of their men. They tried to prove me wrong, and I kicked the shit out of that guy's soldiers in no time flat!" She lightly slammed her palm down into her knee to make a clapping sound, clearly proud of what she'd done to the military's sense of pride in the face of her.
"How about you? What's your excuse for throwing explosions all over the place? I heard they were doing sparring matches between quirkers or somethin?" She had been intending to go over and visit that scene, with her speeches to all the quirkers in her own audience she wanted to see the potential of people who were eager to fight and willing to do so with their quirks, but she'd never gotten a chance beyond passing through on her way to another daily bash with the soldiers. "Guess a quirk like yours should belong to a bit of a fighty girl.~"

"Careful, you'll pull a muscle," Jasmine said, a somewhat smug yet at the same time amused look on her face at the visible wince from the other female. Despite the jab she was fairly aware of how strong the other blonde was. That fight was one hell of a sight to watch. Heck, it had even got her a little pump to punch somebody in the face, if she was to be blatantly honest.
Humming to herself as she listened to the story, Jaz slipped out of her sports jacket and left it lying on the chair next to the bed she was occupying. Carefully as to not abuse her own mess of a body she leaned down, crossing her arms at the back of her head and resting on top of them. She then proceeded to lazily cross her legs and get comfortable, snickering at the woman's words as she stared into the ceiling, "Can't say I've had to do a presentation or anything yet, but I sure as shit had to deal with these guys trying to wordplay me. It never ended well for any of them. Just ask that bitch of a Sergeant. What was her name? Mika? Miwa? Whatever the hell. I'm bad with Japanese names. They're all weird. Anyway, yeah, first day I got here her men decided to give me the rundown. You know, some typical hazing bullshit. I fought one, think I might've broken his jaw. Then one of his friends said something he shouldn't have and I ended up fighting against a small squad of the pricks. Suffice it to say they needed a new set of training equipment and what'sherface had her tits out in front of her barely conscious men after I accidentally scorched her top off... well, pretty sure they were unconscious after that. The jugs on that woman, my God."
Wait. Pro hero? Jaz quirked an eyebrow. Pro hero. Pro hero... that horn... Oh! It finally clicked, "Red Horn. Right?" She asked, just to double-check. That's where she'd seen her aside that fight in the courtyard. This woman was a licensed hero beating the shit out of bad guys, just as she was. The only difference was her actions were approved by the government and she actually got paid for it. Huh... interesting.
Then a dry laugh came from Jasmine, "Take your pick," she said. "First excuse was them talking shit. Another was students too eager for fights. Another was... more soldiers talking shit. Then more students wanting to fight with me. People at Yuuei really seem to want a piece of me for some odd reason. Not like I mind, really. But like... then I get blamed for shit and it just ends up being a dumb fucking mess," the blonde explained, a shrug so nonchalant she barely even felt it herself making her shoulders move up and down.
She glanced at the woman from the corner of her eye, "What's a Pro like you doing here, anyway? Like... I get that the military wanted to do a presentation or whatever but shouldn't you be, like, beating the shit out of villains out there or some shit?"

Snickering at the comment about pulling a muscle even as it came a fraction too late to save her a bit of pain, she pulled her hand back as her arm eased up, the muscle seeming to deflate back to tight but slender along the length of her arm, the bandages she was wearing thankfully not stretching to the point they were no longer useful. Sure maybe she regretted it a little but that was the price of showing off sometimes. No pain no gain eh? She offered a warm smirk to the cheeky blonde and rolled her eyes. “I push these bad boys to the limit so many times I guess they deserve to pull back once or twice.~”
She wasn’t entirely sure that made sense but hey ho it was a witty enough comeback for her.
Hearing Jaz go on to tell her tail of the events she’d had with the sergeant, Mia could only wish she’d been stuck with whoever that was. Instead she got some rusty old fart so stuck in his ways you could point him in the other direction and he’d start walking backwards just to spite you. She lightly scratched along her jawline and scoffed as she heard Jaz hold some pride in her voice, least it sounded like that, when she spoke about breaking some poor private’s jaw, though as the story neared it’s end, Mia’s scoff turned to a full blown snort as Jaz talked about scorching the top off the chick. Did she deserve it? The blonde had no idea, but damn did she wish she was there to see it, to the point she held no shame in the first word out of her lips.
“Pics?~” She snickered loudly to follow and shook her head. “Nah seriously though, sounds like ya showed her what for, and whether its from the show or her knocking them out, I bet those guys had one hell of a smile before they passed the fuck out.~” She reached for a glass of water resting beside her bed and took a deeply satisfied sip, making a note to at least check out this seargent to see how they ‘showed’ through their shirt. Sure she’d probably just get more jealous that Jaz had managed to get the full show but ho hum, she could at least get some second-hand pride that ANYONE had managed to see whatever this sarge was packin’.
With her hero name coming to light she placed that her glass of water and gave the bombshell blonde a cheeky look, raising a hand and flicking the non-scarred side of her own where it still didn’t feel anything. “Oh damn, what gave it away? Was it my devishly beautiful looks? The muscles? The huge singular red horn sticking out of my forehead? It was the looks weren’t it?~ I heard my muscles got a reputation amongst the girls in my fanbase.~”
Course she was just being cheeky, giving the untouched side of her horn a quick brush along the length of it with her fingertips, glancing up to it in a way that almost made her cross her eyes. Her horn had always been a point of pride with her even if it had been a source of a lot of bullying as a kid, not that she couldn’t handle it.~ Though…thinking about that, did Jaz say they were bad with Japanese names? Their pronunciation of a few words was…not off, or incorrect but…off. Like her own…oh shit Jaz must been American! Damn! Yeah she could see it in the eyes too…shit was that…nah that was just factual at worst.
“Well I don’t know what your classmates got against ya, but you better making sure you’re sticking through it. Can’t let the side down ya know?~” She rather boldly asked her next question, aware she might have a few assumptions wrong but feeling just confident enough in her assumption to go forward. “What state ya from? Texas myself, but my ma’ was a posh lass so I didn’t get much of the southern drawl growing up.” She offered a wide smirk, hoping she was right as Jaz already seemed like a hella pleasant girl to know, and she’d definitely love to have something more in common with her.
With her last question though, she rested back on her hands and gave a shrug. “Military ain’t really my thing I’ll admit, especially with all the quirkest fucks here, but they’re looking to recruit quirkers so I had to check it out.” She lifted her arm again, flexing just a little but not enough to hurt right now, mostly just emphasizing the existence of her quirk to herself. “I respect quirks…mine’s a part of me, and they’re a part of a lot of people…I wasn’t about to let this place potentially take in some vulnerable, super powered kids without giving it a look ya know?” She offered a soft smile, recalling briefly the speech she’d given to the audience of one of her fights with the soldiers, snickering to herself as she remembered how she asked the kids to name their quirks and then trying her best to emphasize the brilliance of every last one of them.
“look generally this ain’t my scene…but I wanna make sure any kid here ain’t brainwashed by a fancy speech. Sure I could be taking some punk down to the police station, dragging them by their shirt for robbing some old lady…or I could spend a week or two here, making sure kids remember they’re worth a lot more than whatever these old farts are telling them…” She scoffed and shrugged again, rubbing her face with her hand and sighing deeply. “Sounds fucking ridiculous and…honestly maybe I’m just here to get my fix of kicking ass but I gotta make it sound smart and wholesome somehow right? Kinda the whole her thing when ya boil it down.”

"Hah," Jaz gave a dry laugh, wondering why she herself hadn't thought about snapping a picture or five, "wish I had thought of that. Then again I'm not like one of my classmates. That guy's a pervert if I've ever seen one," she said, referencing a certain Maximillian Kane, though the blonde figured the Pro Hero had no idea who she was talking about. At the further comment, Jasmine simply shrugged. Things like this came naturally to her, "It's one thing to bow your head to the chain of command. A completely separate thing to take a beating lying down. Stare a lion in the eyes for long enough and it's bound to pounce at you, or so I've been told, y'know?" A cheeky grin accompanied her words.
The next words from the older woman were followed up by a snort from the younger girl, "The looks, of course. Who in the world would forget the sight of a blonde bombshell who's built like a wrestler?" She said, slightly amused. Actually, considering the sheer size of her muscles and the undeniable strength that obviously came with the package, Red Horn would be quite the sight in the WWE. Huh.
Jasmine blinked almost dumbly when Red Horn switched over to English, the very distinct Texan drawl too obvious to miss by the blonde. A grin she couldn't exactly control spread across her lips; how the fuck could she forget that Red Horn was American?! "Fuck knows to be honest with you, but I'd like to think they get what's coming to them when they try to call me out," she replied in English herself, a smug grin in her face. The New Yorkean accent, while not exactly overblown, was pretty obvious in the way Jasmine spoke and pronounced certain words, the a's being replaced by oh's within certain words. God, how long had it been since she had the opportunity to speak proper English? It felt like a borderline foreign language by this point. It just felt so damn good to let her native language flow and dance along her tongue.
She had to admit, her day had gotten exponentially better after talking to this woman. Jaz had felt like a caged lion for the better part of her stay in Japan. Coming to the military, it... it made her feel like somebody had opened her cage for a little while. The consistent fighting, the angry, demeaning glares directed at her. It all reminded her of home. The days spent in Manhattan with the huge metropolis having suffered the brunt of the Quirk Riots in the US had raised Jasmine in a world that was meant to pull her down to the ground and keep her there. She had learned to fight against it. But having come overseas, Jaz had gotten used to a world that did none of that. She had felt out of place, borderline complacent. The military drills she had been subjecting herself to had sort of alleviated that burden - it made her remember what she was. A fighter. And now that she actually had the opportunity to speak with someone with similar roots to hers... yeah, her day was pretty damn great.
"New York. NYC. Brooklyn. Though I've spent most of my time in Manhattan. I've met a couple of Texans over there. All of you punch first and ask questions later which, to be blunt? I kinda respect," Jasmine added, her grin still firmly intact, "Jasmine, by the way. If you want a hero name - Ember," the last part, the name she had been entrusted with, came out strong and confident. While most Japanese people didn't know who Ember was, an American just might. She had become quite the talked about subject back in the online media in the states. The mysterious vigilante who blew shit up and left a flaming heart graffiti in her wake.
"That's fair, to be honest with you. The military system here seems... well, shady, at best," she said. "You're cool, Red Horn." She stopped for a moment, collecting her thoughts. Eventually, though, she glanced at her bandaged arm, then back to the older woman, grinning, "When my limbs stop feeling like noodles, you mind if I try to take a punch at you? Kinda want to test myself against an actual Pro, y'know?"

Mia smirked as Jaz agreed she shoulda thought of that, sure Mia herself was joking but she was pretty sure Jaz was too…with maybe a little bit of honesty on the mere level that anyone would wanna take a pic of a fine set of tits if they could, or maybe that was just her. Either way she felt that Jaz was resonating with her well, and she’d rather think they were on the same semi-jokey page. Wouldn’t actually take the picture, but could definitely joke about being bummed they missed such a golden opportunity. Her brow quirked up on one side as she mentioned the fact that one of her classmates was one hell of a perv, snickering a little like a scoff of disbelief. Wouldn’t they like, check all the potential future hero candidates? Like Mia had no idea what the process was like but she thought there’d be psychological tests to weed out pervs….then again…her eyes drifted off to the side silently as she scratched her cheek, realizing if there was a psych test that weeded out traits like that in heroes, her pseudo sex addiction (she could survive without it but damn she also liked a lot of it) would probably have gotten weeded out of the system too…hehehe.
“Eh I dunno what it’s like to handle pervs so I can only feel sorry ya got a classmate with that.” She took a sniffing breath as she rolled her shoulders back, a smirk slowly crawling onto her lips once more. “Usually anyone like that who gets near me tends to leave with a damaged baby-maker, so I’ve pretty much sent a warning to the rest of them over the many years of having one hell of a punch.” She then lifted her right hand forward, and closed her fingers into her palm so tight and fast it almost resonated like a clap as her fist closed. “My clutch ain’t too safe either.~ One poor sod asked if I wanted to see his horn once. He didn’t say ‘look, don’t touch’, so I took advantage.~” She smirked a little wider before resting back on her hands. “Buuuut that was my vigilante days, gotta be on my best behaviour now, so mind keeping that little bit of damage between us?~”
At the specific choice of calling her a bombshell, she chuckled through a spikey toothed grin, lightly slapping a hand down into her strong thigh before pointing at the blonde infront of her. “Me the bombshell? Girl you literally ARE a bombshell.” She maintained her wide grin at her cheeky little observation, not actually flirting like she often might with that choice of words, but instead finding a playful, energy filled vibe she could very easily maintain with the blonde before her. “I mean thanks for the compliment all the same kid, but damn, if you’re future hero name ain’t literally ‘bombshell’, yer missin’ a trick!” She rolled her head back with her palm supporting the back of it a few light cracks sounding off. Jaz had been right in her words about her being muscular, especially since that’s how most of her TV appearances after stopping a criminal had her looking, so soon off the heat of a battle most of the time, but she offered a light correction. “Ah I sometimes look a bit softer though, I mean don’t get me wrong hun, I can still woop the ass of anyone in the ring no matter how I look, but a girl can’t always be flexin ya know?~” Said the woman who literally flexed to every fucking camera she saw, both physically and metaphorically.
Her grin only grew further as her assumption had been right, and Jaz began to speak back to her in English, her canines very prominent in her grin and leaning in close as if the fact she’d found another American was the most interesting and amazing little fact in the world. “Hhahah! Well just make sure they know their place. No disrespect to the japs, but we can’t let the side down either. Gotta stay top of your class for me and demonstrate what some American muscle can do!” She gave a bright wink, genuinely glad on some weird level Jaz was in UA now rather than a fellow hero, solely so the Americans had someone to represent amongst that number.
Speaking English herself had been similarly refreshing, in fact the energy she felt she and Jaz were sharing had her pushing out a lot more of her southern drawl, the kind she might only bring out when she and her family were getting particularly raucous. “Aaaah New York Gal. Heard there’s a guy shootin’ webs all over your city…that or I’m getting old comic books confused with news. Either way whats it like livin’ in arguably the most well known place in America? I mean I bet more people have seen pictures of NYC than they have the white house these days.~” She then raised a finger before Jaz could answer, a cheeky glint in her eye. “Just so we’re clear though, ya can’t beat Texas. We win. End of story.~” She was clearly joking, but with just a faint tint of egotistical pride to it all. She finally got the hero name at the very least, and frowned in a jokey manner for just a moment. “Ah well, Ember’s fiiiine I guesssss.” She gave the most dramatic roll of her eyes she could, ending with her locking back onto the other girl’s eyes with a poinient smirk.
Though, with that comment about the military, she quirked her brow again. She’d only experienced one quirkest commanders and all his lackeys, so she had no idea what Jaz meant by that…though then again, inviting Quirkers to the military, despite it tending to be illegal to use your quirks outside of licensed rolls, even in the military, was a bit odd. “Huh…guess so.” She was easily more distracted by what came next though, reaching over and toying with Jaz just a little in a friendly matter, ruffling the hair atop her head. “Hey you ain’t so bad yerself Ember! Almost glad I messed up my forearm to meet’cha.” She rested back on her hands again, her eagerness dying down just a little from immense glee at finding another American, to soft, gentle connection with the girl sitting opposite her. “Ya know I’ll definitely take you up on that. Think we might teeeechnically need permission from your principal if you wanna fight outside of school or this place…buuuut…” She gave the most comical look left and right before leaning in once more, hand covering one side of her face as she whispered loud enough for Jaz to hear from behind it. “I won’t tell if you won’t~”

"Ouch," Jasmine said with an amused wince. The damaged baby-maker part sure as hell sounded painful. Never something she'd wish on anyone, especially considering she saw what it was like when somebody got kicked in the groin being that she herself had kicked quite a few men right in that specific area. The repercussions were both glorious and horrifying at the same time but, then again, it wasn't like they didn't deserve it. Sometimes she wondered if that was the whole reason she was into girls rather than guys in the first place. Considering what had happened to her when she was just a poor homeless kid roaming the streets of New York. Then again the thought was only a minor one in the back of her head. She didn't dwell on it too much. Some would've thought repressing a traumatic memory like that might've been a good idea, others would say that probably damaged for psyche. Jasmine, though? Jasmine simply didn't care. It happened. It was in the past. It was part of her past. And it was what made her who she was. No way in hell was she ever going to regret any of it.
"Of course," Jasmine said with a brief chuckle, holding up an 'ok' sign with her hand. "To be fair there's quite a lot of shit I probably shouldn't say either. Like the name Ember. No idea if you've heard of it or not. Guessing by your response probably not. But there are people who probably have so, y'know, best if you didn't mention it to anyone. I kind of... was a vigilante myself before coming over to Japan and half the shit I did wasn't exactly legal. Having been a vigilante yourself you probably know that sometimes the law is in your way. So... yeah. Pretty sure I may get some shit thrown at me if people here find out about it so... y'know."
"Bombshell? Please. More like dynamite with too short a fuse," she said, raising her hand and creating a few sparks in between her fingers. "Blowing shit up is fun and all but the number of times people have bitched at me for collateral damage is fucking insane, you have no idea. Then again no, you probably do. That shit about you destroying that one radical anti-quirker warehouse? Priceless. Videos of you blowing that place up were all over Reddit way back when. Gotta say, even if my quirk can make things go bye-bye, pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to pull that off."
"Hah, Mericuh, fuck yeah!" Jasmine replied, yet it was very easy to see she was being sarcastic. While she did miss her friends and the feel home gave her, she had no real love for America as a whole. It was only the things that she recognized as dear to her and the ones closest to her that really mattered. America as a whole was a piece of shit which barely had its act together. For all the comic books and superhero movies that were released, you'd think the supposedly strongest nation in the world would have a better idea of how to handle the world the way that it was now.
"Oh, that guy. Yeah. I met that guy a couple of times. Kinda nerdy, can't keep his mouth shut. Rather amusing, really," Jasmine added with a snicker, recognizing exactly which comic book Red Horn was referencing. One of her childhood memories, that one.
"For sure. You southerners sure know how to get meme'd into being the best," she then added, sticking out her tongue. "Then again I've always wanted to go to Texas. I'unno, heard the beer there's good and the women are even better." She gave a short chuckle at what Red Horn had to say next, "Yeah, I didn't figure you for the asking-permission type either, Horny. Mind if I call you Horny? Kinda seems... fitting. In more ways than one."

Mia was definitely enjoying the other blonde’s company, quietly smirking both to her and herself, not making a lie that she was glad she hurt herself for the opportunity to meet someone like Jaz. She seemed really chill and just something about them seemed to resonate with eachother in a way she wouldn’t be able to deny. She wondered for a moment if she’d ever heard of her before, UA students could get their own reputation afterall, but nothing came to mind. In America she might have heard something in a similar situation, but ever since she’d came to Japan she’d been aiming hard to rebuild her name as a hero as big as she’d been as a vigilante in Texas. She wanted to push herself to the top, or at least get on the ranking board next time they came around. How far away was that now…like another month? Ah it was gonna be fun when they hit. She was gonna make sure she got right the way up there if it killed her in the process. She could already picture herself sharing a beer with her dad watching the rankings come on the TV…
She washed the thoughts from her head for now and returned to the now, listening to how Jaz’s hero name apparently shouldn’t be spoken aloud. One to show solidarity on such matters, Mia gave a silent thumbs up before pulling her pinched fingers across her tightly closed lips, then taking the imaginary key, and pretending to bend it between her hands at least 3 times, at which point she tossed it over her shoulder and dusted her hands of it. A bit over the top maybe but it definitely got her point across, even if she did speak a few moments later, though specifically to say- “Don’t worry kid I gotcha. Though…Ember…American…” She tipped her eyes to the side for the moment as she tried to pull through her memory, snapping her fingers as she was sure she was getting close to a memory…”OH!” She pointed at her when something finally hit, glad they were speaking in English, in Japan, so they didn’t have to worry too much about this info spreading as they talked. “Burning heart! That’s your tag right! I remember catching a youtube vid of you once! You took down some high and mighty guy with a lion mutation right? Thought he was the alpha or some shit and you put him in his place. The video was crap so no wonder I didn’t recognize you. There were so many explosions the guy couldn’t keep his phone still!” She raised her fist to give Jaz a playful jab in the shoulder, but stopped just before impact, smirking sheepishly as she unclenched her fist. “Heh…not the best idea right now…bottom line I am DOUBLY glad I met you now.”
She took a deep breath, calmed down, and spoke again though. “Still, bottom line, yer secret’s safe with me. I ain’t ever gonna put a vigilante on the line by slipping up like that. Far as I’m concerned what the police don’t know about us tends to work in their favour more often then they’d ever admit. Plus.” She brushed a finger across the underside of her horn with a smirk. “From one old Vigi to another, don’t worry about being stuck to the rules. You get a bit of practice and you’ll understand how many of them are just guidelines once you figure out your way around ‘em.” She gave a cheeky week, but quietened up as a nurse briefly passed by them to check on another patient, offering Jaz a sheepish grin, silently conveying her hope that the nurse didn’t speak English.
The talk about Jaz being more like Dynamite kept the joy in her own tone as she let out a hearty chuckle, shaking her head, unable to disagree since she didn’t know Jaz that well, but if they were as similar as she thought they might be, yeeeeah, dynamite was the more apt choice. Not as catchy, but very apt. “Right right, I’ll give ya dynamite. Ya certainly got me, I do get it. I mean…uuugh fuck me.” She let her mind drift back to that day as her head rolled back, a hearty chuckle flowing up through her throat and through her teeth. “Ah they pissed me off so much I ripped a fucking generator off the wall…pretty shore I tore up my entire right bicep to do it but DAMN was that worth it.” She pulled her head forward and grinned nice and wide. “Plus 2 weeks later the doc was so impressed by my recovery I learned I had a healing factor…its piss poor. Still couldn’t fight shit for months, but I was back at it faster than most woulda been.”
The joining of the mericuh fuck yeah mentality did reek of sarcasm but Mia didn’t mind, she was more joking herself anyway. She didn’t have pride in America. She had a little in Texas cause that was truly her home, but she could recognize the shit stains that were on it. Nah…she really had pride in her family, and they were all here with her, so she didn’t really need anyone representin’ America, she already had her family representin’ themselves.
She wanted to say ‘don’t worry about it’ when she sensed the sarcasm, but she didn’t know how to put it out there, and just let out a low sigh as a silent was of saying ‘yeah it’s a fuckin’ shithole sometimes’.
She perked to attention when Jaz mentioned calling her horny, snickering loudly and lowering her head forward. “Okay fine but you get your obvious nickname too Boomy. Just makes sure you don’t call me it infront of any chicks. It ain’t exactly a good first impression if a girl thinks I’m some sorta pervert ya know?”

Mia was... an interesting person to speak to. Aside from her benefactor that kept sending her obnoxious amounts of money to do with whatever the hell she wanted all because of his guilt that she couldn't coax him out of - not that she minded, really; a consistent allowance was one hell of a thing to say sorry with - this was the first time she had really spoken to what society now labeled as Pro Heroes. She had met plenty of vigilantes back in the day. Or rather, self-imposed vigilantes, much like she herself was. People who had simply seen enough of the bullshit society and the government were putting them through and decided to fight, putting themselves on the line for the people they didn't knew... oftentimes simply for the people they did know. People would've eventually fought back - that was no surprise to anyone. Not all vigilantes got along - some clashed due to clash of ideals, morals, or even something as simple as a goal. Sometimes they worked together, as she had tried on multiple occasions with people who held similar ideas to hers. Yet that never worked. She was a lone wolf by nature, and honestly Jasmine kind of preferred it that way.
Regardless of that fact, now that Jasmine was face-to-face with somebody that the government acknowledged, somebody that it had previously scorned but now accepted, the experience was... strange. Something inside her had lit up, a warm bubbling flame tingling in her chest. On some level she thought we did it. All she wanted to do was for Quirkers to be accepted, and there she was, a live example of exactly that. A person with a very blatant 'irregularity' accepted by the masses, even worshiped by some. If this wasn't a major victory, she couldn't tell you what was. Looking at Mia, communicating with her, for the first time in her life Jasmine had one singular thought...
I want to be like her.
It likely wasn't because of the type of person Red Horn was. Perhaps it wasn't even because of the type of Hero she was either. Jasmine didn't know her well enough to state that without sounding like a starstruck dumbass. No, it was more so because of what Red Horn represented. A Hero. Somebody who the government trusted with the power to be able to help people. Somebody that the government wanted to actually endorse. Sure, it may have been nothing more than a PR stunt to get the masses to believe that the government weren't all assholes in the wake of this new Renaissance, but it was still a step in the right direction. And the blonde lioness would've been lying to you if she said that her seemingly unyielding hope for the future hadn't grown a few kelvins hotter.
She couldn't relish in the thought for all that long though as Red Horn seemed to have recalled something about Ember that Jaz sincerely hoped she hadn't. Well, it wasn't like she couldn't trust the Pro. Hell, it looked like the woman actually liked what she saw from the girl when she was back in the shoes of a vigilante. She chuckled, maybe even a little nervously, "Yeah. Burning heart. That's me..." She said, showcasing a toothy grin for the older female to see. "Even though I'm kind of worried other people might recognize me too, I'm kind of... glad you approve, if that makes sense. I don't normally look for approval but, well, from a Pro Hero that actually feels like praise I should appreciate, y'know? But yeah, I remember that lion asshole. All whine and no bite, really," she added, snickering to herself. Honestly that had been one of the better fights to take part in. Well, rather, the circumstances weren't exactly ideal for the situation but the way it resolved itself had gotten Jaz way happier than she should've been. You know that feeling when you finally give a jackass that what's coming to him scenario? Especially when that jackass had Karma, bad luck, and you gunning for them? Yeah, that happy.
"Thanks for that," Jasmine supplied with another nod, her words sincere, smile clearly grateful. It was one of those secrets she'd rather not get out there into the public. While she didn't necessarily mind people knowing, she reckoned that might have gotten her in trouble with both the school and the law. And people would clearly throw a hissy fit. They so often tended to do that. Prime example? Maximillian Kane.
"Practice, huh? Hah. I wish," the younger blonde replied, hanging her head lowly as she sighed with what came across as disappointment. "The school's pretty adamant about us staying out of trouble. Like we can't even fight, let alone use our quirks, if shit gets sour. We have to get the police or a Pro Hero to handle a situation. It's... I get the idea but fucking hell if people are in danger am I supposed to just sit back and watch with my thumb up my ass? Hell no. Rules like that can get fucked. Rules or no rules, I'd rather get kicked out of school rather than let someone die and if somebody has a problem with that they can deal with it after the fact."
"...yeah, rant over," she then added, realizing that she had blabbered on. Honestly that particular part of their hero education system pissed her the hell off. She remembered that one encounter with Vespa way back when the school season had just started. Some assholes had tried to rob a gas station at gun point. A gas station that she just so happened to be in trying to buy a fucking RedBull. Just her fucking luck. She did her best to avoid them to follow the rules, to carefully sneak out and get the authorities to deal with it. Then again nothing ever went according to plan and Jasmine ended up running with gunfire behind her. At which point she met Vespa, who so fucking conveniently mistook her for the perp and ended up attacking her. It was at that particular junction that Jaz had completely noped the fuck out and said screw these fucking rules. Both Vespa and those thugs had something to answer to, and boy was Jasmine one unstable missile with a collision course into an oil tanker when she was pissed off.

Mia was glad she was on the money with that thing about her being the one associated with the logo of a burning heart. She had no idea what else the blonde girl had done, so focused on her own vigilante work back in America that she only caught the odd actions of other vigilantes when they flew into her radar…but, wait. Jaz was already pretty young now, and she was probably even younger when she’d heard that news about her taking down the lion man. Hot damn this girl was a little badass! Not that Mia hadn’t started young, but her excuses for fights back at her young teens was to just pick ‘em. Heck she wouldn’t be wrong if she maybe considered herself more villain than vigilante those days, but managing to pick herself the right kind of fights was one of the ways she grew, and had helped her build a sense of right and wrong Jaz seemed to have at her core from a younger age than Mia herself did. Mia wasn’t entirely sure why, but she was starting to get second hand pride. Maybe it’s just because visually, and personality wise, Jaz reminded her a lot of a younger version of herself, or maybe she was just way too invested in this little tyke’s future her career already. Probably that. Yeah. She wanted to make sure there was another badass on the scene long before she retired, what with boring shits like Junko being the only people she saw on the scene alongside her right now.
Still, back on Jaz, she didn’t seem entirely too proud despite the toothy grin. Maybe she was reading it wrong but her words trailed off a bit at the beginning. Maybe it was just a sign of how worried she was someone would recognize her, but Mia just gave a loud snicker and slammed a fist into her chest. “Hey if anyone gives you shit for what you did in the past, you point ‘em my way. If they don’t let someone with your talent even stay a student because of what you did in the past, they can have a look at my track record and remember I’m a fuckin’ pro hero!” She reached over and briefly ruffled the smaller blonde’s hair with a toothy smirk. “Seriously girl, you ever get in trouble for your past, you got another ex-vigilante who’s got your back. Hey, I’m even gunning for the top hero position, so maybe I’ll have even more say in how your treated should that stuff ever come to light.” She held a strong grin after that. She didn’t plan to use a top hero position to pull any strings, but really, when someone with her track record could potentially earn such a position, who could say anything about the spunky little tyke standing before her?
Regardless though it did make her smile a little that her approval meant something, and as much as she loved a good ego boost she found herself giving a semi bashful chuckle at the idea that her opinion meant that much because of her title. “Oh don’t worry about approval Jaz. You always do you and that’s what matters. Make sure you’re actually happy before you go wondering what other people think yeah?” She offered a more genuine and borderline wholesome smile as she offered some advice she practically had to live her life by ever since she’d been picked out for her red horn and bulky frame from a young age. “Heck if happy’s too big a push, least make sure yer content yeah? That the word? Content?” She brushed it off, clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed when it came to words like that. “Whatever, bottom line, you do you.”
Hearing about the school Mia wasn’t all that surprised, people were harsh on quirker regulations out in the real world, heck even she could only use her super strength if she had solid purpose to. She got into this whole thing with a cop one time when she’d been using her super strength to lift up a bench with 4 girls sitting on it to impress them. Apparently picking up chicks wasn’t a good use of her ’gifts’, though she still almost growled as she remembered the borderline airquotes the officer had said that with. Luckily flashing her pro hero license was enough to get out of that but he still had a ‘I’ve got my eye on you’ vibe to ‘em. “Yeah I can imagine…not exactly many ways around it either…” She sighed through her nose. “Truth be told I let vigilantes help me out sometimes if we run into eachother, but you’ll never hear about it cause I know the trouble they can get into.” She spoke, trusting Jaz with this information. “But if you ever see me being humble about a job well done on the news, that’s why. A vigilante helped me out and I’m not so vile that I’d let my ego take full credit…but ya know…I gotta take the credit, or me AND them get in trouble, and it’s no good for anyone…maybe things’ll change in the future, but I ain’t hitchin’ my bets on nuttin.” She took a snorting breath of derision to the state of things, a slow sigh following out as she just silently thought about how crappy things still could be for quirkers when they had so much potential…
“Guess rules can be there for a reason though…don’t want some poor guy getting brutalized cause someone didn’t know how powerful their quirk was or some shit…shame good Samaritan laws ain’t still in effect though. ‘ya can’t get sued if you do something with good intentions’ or some shit. Guess they had to dash that the moment any 12 year old though tthey could dole out whatever they called justice…” She rubbed her forehead, seeing the point but feeling it could be done better, and hurting her head to think about it.
“Ugh…whatever the case it ain’t perfect, but you really should stay in school. I only seen bits and pieces of you in action when I passed the combat area, but ya got more skill than me to control your explosions like that…” She smirked and added cheekily. “Though that ain’t me saying you can beat me. I could charge through your explosions like wet paper if I wanted to.~”

Snorting to herself, Jaz just shrugged, "I appreciate the offer, really. But I can handle myself," the blonde lioness explained. She wasn't trying to be cocky or cheeky about it, it was just simple fact; whatever came her way, Jasmine could handle it in one way or another. Sure, maybe the powers that be up above like the Principal or whoever the fuck else had a good grasp on where she'd end up, her future was, ultimately, in her own hands. Sure, she'd rather nobody found out about her past - it wasn't a subject she wanted out in the open for everyone to know. But at the same time, she... well, if people did know that she was Ember - which they would undoubtedly find out anyway since Jasmine was very willing to claim that as her Hero name - she'd just roll with it, come what may. She wouldn't shy away from her past. It was, for better or worse, what made her into the person she was today. There was no way in hell she would ignore that fact.
"Oi!" She complained as she attempted to waive Red Horn's arm away from her hair, yet a small grin was on her face regardless. This woman was... nice. In some ways, she reminded her of Nicole, a girl that used to run with them way back when. Strong, independent, always a bundle of laughs and don't give a fucks. Jasmine and herself had often clashed because of their headstrong personalities, but it had never gotten personal - just simple disagreements about how certain things should be handled. Then again, that was probably what made the two of them really good friends.
Huh. This made her want to actually reach out to Cole. Been a while since the two of them had spoken.
"Top hero, huh?" Suddenly Jaz's grin turned very smug, "You enjoy that while you can, Horny. Soon as I've got that diploma or whatever the fuck they're giving out in my hands I'm gonna kick you off your throne," she said, and the way she said it wasn't a threat or anything as simple as that. No, the way Jasmine stated it was as though she was stating a simple fact. It would happen. The confidence in her voice and words was almost palpable, the glint in her lilac orbs challenging the Pro Hero's own crimsons. Jasmine had always been one looking for a challenge, even if that more often than not left her a total mess. Yet, in her mind, Jasmine considered it a learning experience. Even if she was close to breaking, it was worth it so long as she learned something. Fighting Red Horn? Boy could she learn some shit.
"Normally? I don't," the blonde lioness added. "I couldn't give a rats ass what people think of me, to be honest with you. People back home used to say all kinds of shit about me. Hell, even in school half the student body is either afraid of me or hate me for one reason or another. It's one of those things you get used to, y'know? Besides, if I cared about what people said or thought about me I'm pretty sure neither happy nor content would ever fit in the equation," the younger blonde shrugged nonchalantly. There was only a very small handful of people who Jasmine genuinely cared about on a personal level. If they started talking shit? Sure, maybe she'd care. But otherwise it didn't matter. If somebody didn't have the balls to come to her and say shit straight to her face, they weren't worth her time. It was that simple. It was always that simple. "It's just..." she snorted again. "It's just kinda nice to hear some positive feedback from the person who's in the position that I want to be, y'know?"
Jasmine had been listening and digesting what Mia was saying, humming to herself. Yeah, she understood the necessity of rules. She understood the kind of benefits they brought. But, at the same time... she thought them to be too constricting. The moment the rules prohibit somebody who is capable to act from doing just that is when the rules are more of a detriment than a benefit. It was a slippery slope, a difficult argument and a hot topic all in one. It didn't help that Kobayashi was such a sucker for rules he-
Suddenly the door to the infirmary slammed open, "Where the hell-" the woman who had entered, Oh the great Sergeant Miwa, stopped in her tracks the moment she laid eyes on the two blondes, both looking at her with some surprise. Miwa looked at Red Horn and scoffed indignantly. Then her eyes found Jasmine and, well... suffice it to say that the other hatred she began to practically ooze was enough to send a cold chill down anyone's spine. Jaz, though? Well, Jaz just chuckled a little nervously.
"'ello, Sarge," she offered, rubbing the back of her head and chuckling sheepishly.
"Shut your mouth," Miwa growled back lowly, the memory of what this brat had done to her outfit in front of her men still very fresh in her memory. The military woman leveled her glare on the so-called Pro Hero then, "Red Horn, we need you for a combat demonstration. Follow."
Jasmine perked up at this. A combat demonstration. Oh, she knew what that meant. It meant people wanted a piece of her. She herself had participated in several 'combat demonstrations' by this point and every single one of them ended up... well, exactly as she had thought. One against two, three, maybe four or five. It was a hassle, one that she was honestly too tired to deal with now, but... on some level, Jaz wanted to show Red Horn what she was capable of. She saw only bits and pieces as she herself had admitted. What if Jaz showed her the whole package? Maybe, just maybe... oh, this was exciting.
Jaz raised her hand and rotated her neck, humming when a bone popped back into place, "Permission to take over," she said, adamantly, her voice having a no-arguments type of vibe to it.
Miwa stopped in her tracks and looked over her shoulder. The glint in her eyes couldn't be mistaken. It was a clear oh, payback time type of thing, yet clearly very, very, very much more malicious than that.
"Very well... so long as Red Horn approves."
