Ah, what a lovely day... The rain of the past couple days had all but completely subsided, the clouds giving way to clear, sunny skies, the warm but mellow heat of a radiant summer morning. Left and right everybody walked around with a certain spring to their step, at least, those not contractually obligated to duck walk wherever they went. Just how could anyone not let this infectious joy seep in? At least one person, one blonde walking around with that perpetual deadpan look, yet quite a visible hint of anger peering through her eyes of jade. Kanna had just survived a grueling, three day drill instruction from hell. And just like the stereotypical drill instruction, everybody in had very good reason to be pissed, perfectly good reason to hate their instructor. But the rebellious hacker had a bit of extra reason, after the guy made it his life's business to punish one of the students simply for having the only visible Quirk! Fuck did that piss her off like nobody's business... Even all the tension she vented then hadn't been enough, though sadly her body couldn't quite take much more punishment, or else she'd have gone into the Martial Arts Clubroom and beaten whatever she could to blow off steam. "Shooting range huh...?", she mused, turning her head towards the sound of gunfire, finally having a chance to properly explore the base camp, to see every little detail with her own two eyes. She found a bunch of students all aligned in different lanes, with different ranges, and more importantly... Different guns. A couple of military men watched them go at it, but for the most part provided little assistance unless directly asked for it. Seemed like they were mostly interested in seeing how well the Quirk wielding students fared with traditional weaponry. Sufficiently intrigued by the prospect of shooting at inanimate objects, Kanna approached the weapon rack, resting both hands on the table in front of it. Sinking one one hip, her eyes examined each of the guns below and around her... ...And had a nudging sensation all these guys were taking every chance they could to check out her butt... Every time she turned around, and leaned over the weapons on display, that peachy, perky rear stretched the confines of those one legged camo pants; and when she turned around, she'd see way more eyes on here than would have been when she last looked... Ugh... Men...
Even though she rolled her eyes around the third time it happened, she could hardly blame them considering how few women they have at the base. And she wasn't so petty as to judge an entire gender for the actions of one, whose many faults thankfully didn't include perversion. For all the good it was worth, she learned how to shoot from that piece of shit Colonel over the past three days, enough that she'd calmly pick up an assault rifle, a simple AK47, and head over to an empty lane. Taking a deep breath, she put her headphones on, took her stance, and pressed the butt of the rifle against her shoulder... With the crosshair between her eyes and the target, she took aim at the piece of cardboard with the cleanly drawn figure. And without warning, she opened fire, a visible, furious ferocity piercing throught that cool, aloof gaze. Shooting quick bursts of three to five bullets, letting her hold the weapon mostly in place, while using the recoil to shift her aim too far higher, while nonetheless exploiting that upwards pull to take aim at the higher target Knees... Groin... Elbows... And finally, head...
Yes, anybody who looked could figure out this particular woman felt especially annoyed at someone of the opposite gender: Most of her bullets went to painful, not immediately lethal places, with the Crotch area eating upwards 10 rounds. All of a sudden not nearly as many horny soldiers were staring at her ass... Go figure... "Tch...", she clicked her tongue the moment she heard useless clicks coming from her gun, instead of that satisfying bang, "Already empty..." She wound up emptying all the remaining bullets on the cardboard target, she tapped the nearby button to bring it over to her stand, taking a deep breath and relaxing as she hoped some of that tension might finally ease off... It didn't. Her muscles still felt sore after that instruction, enough to make her roll her elbows achingly after emptying the magazine. Kanna still felt pissed and frustrated, enough to realize it wouldn't really go away just from shooting at inanimate objects: Talk about wishful thinking. Discarding the empty clip and knocking in a new one, she took a moment to look around at the other shooters, just in case she might see someone she recognized...

It was unusual for people to not see Elise holding a gun at the shooting range, especially since she had been there so often that people were debating whether it was actually her favorite spot at the demonstration. However, there was a very solid reasoning behind the girl's absence today. While everyone was eagerly trying out the guns or watching the soldiers show how to properly use them, Elise had been at a nearby table eagerly talking to an engineer who had brought one of the various sniper rifles on display and was giving her a more detailed explanation on the components of the firearm. Of course, she had noticed the small crowd that had gathered to watch one of the shooters, a few young privates with lecherous looks upon their faces but she paid them no heed, in the end surely the firearm was more interesting than whatever was going on.
"So you see Elise, there is an important difference between the different sizes of a magazine, do you know what that is?" The engineer from Tanaka Arms asked with a smile while Elise raised a hand to her cheek and mused softly, clearly curious about the whole matter as she pondered out loud. "The number of shots you can fire?" The man laughed heartily at her comment, answering her answer with a grin "That's kinda an obvious one, isn't it?" He asked with a smile but shook his head lightly and continued. "It's actually the weight~ The larger the magazine the heavier it will feel for you, while a sharpshooter with your skills could handle the weight without reducing the efficiency of your shooting, it's an entirely different story for a newbie. As a result, we often recommend that they start with lighter weapons."
True, if the weapon was heavier there would be no doubt a harder recoil and a higher difficulty in keeping the weapon properly aimed. She never had difficulties with that because of how much she trained with her mentor, but she could imagine someone unused to firearms would struggle with the increased weight! But it seemed the man wasn't done with his explanations just yet! "But the scope is one of the true beautifies of this weapon~ Armed with iron sights which contain a hooded post front and a drum rear, you can effectively shoot from a hundred meters to a kilometer in gradiation, albeit I think someone like you could likely use it at optimal range with ease, maybe even hit beyond that record of yours?" Now those were words that just begged for her to test out this rifle! "Also, we installed a Hensoldt optical sight, if you ever wanted to see 10 times as sharp as normal."
"Ten times?!" She exclaimed excitedly as she thought for a moment. "With optical sight as sharp as that I could easily peek at Tetsuko without her even realizing it..." Noticing her blushing cheeks the engineer laughed in amusement, inquiring with a grin. "What got you so excited?" But Elise quickly shook off the question with a grin as they continued talking.
Meanwhile, two privates had been observing the shooting range, looks of discontent onto their faces. "They shouldn't have allowed them here, look at those kids, playing around with our firearms as if they were toys." The other private nodded his head sharply in agreement, grumbling in annoyance. "Should teach them a lesson." A lesson? Now that sounded like a good idea, an opportunity to humiliate those kids sounded simply perfect! "Heh, I got an idea..." The private approached the shooting range and announced out loud. "We are holding a shooting contest! Two of us against two of you kiddos, if one of you can hit farther than us within 3 shots we'll consider it a loss and give you both half of our monthly wage!" He knew greedy kids like that wouldn't resist the challenge, especially that smug looking lass at the shooting range. "How about you kiddo? You seem to be holding a gun, but do ya have the skill to properly wield it? Hey Kazuya, think we got our first one!" The private laughed in amusement as he looked at his partner who spotted Elise talking at the table, clearly ignoring the commotion. Such a meek girl surely would be an easy target, and so he approached them. "Hey lassy, want to join your friend over there for a shooting game?"
The engineer looked up at the private and spoke in a warning tone "You might want to reconsider picking on her priva-" Yet the man glared at the engineer. "Stay out of this gun nerd." The engineer merely sighed as he mumbled softly. "Don't tell me later that I didn't warn you..." and as he assembled the weapon and handed it over to Elise the girl merely smiled at the private and hummed in return "Sure~"
This was gonna be a piece of cake for the privates! Or so they thought... As they approached Kanna and the other private Elise was too occupied adoring the MSG90A1 she was holding, almost feeling the temptation to rub her cheek against it while the privates continued to explain. "You're free to use whatever gun you see fit--- hey Kazuya did you seriously let that girl use a sniper? Man you really want them to lose badly, then again might be a good chance to show those kids their place."
If only they had known the mess they were getting themselves into! A small crowd was already starting to gather as Elise stopped beside Kanna, scooping up three of the bullets and placed them in the five bullet magazine, musing softly. "Hehe~ I get to try out the Hensoldt optical sight~ Ah!" she turned her gaze sideways, only now noticing Kanna as she grinned sheepishly. "Didn't expect to see you here Kanna~ Then again, they do say not to judge a book by its cover~ Do you like guns?" A simple inquiry as she waited for the shooting challenge to begin.

Indeed, the only thing unusual at a shooting range was seeing people not holding a gun. Of course, most of those simply hung around the weapons rack, either looking over their options or simply talking to the expects who knew a big more about them. Such was the case with Elise, easily the last person Kanna expected to meet at a place like this. A faint gleam of surprise appeared on her face, as if she were the last person she'd expect to see walking around here... Guess even the pleasant nurse girl realized she needed to get strong. Hell, that actually made Kanna feel a bit bad for making little effort to improve her combat abilities. She'd been all too focused on her Quirk and hacking, postponing any attempts of proper combat improvement... Perhaps she'd need to do little about that. Maybe the guns in hand offered the solution. She rolled her elbow, wincing slightly as she remembered having it dislocated a few days back: "Ugh... That nazi did a number on my arms, it's unreal...", she groaned, fighting the linger aching in her arms, the leftover pain from her shoulder as she pressed the butt against of her shoulder. Having learned to shoot with a far greater handicap, she now felt far better at it than before.
With a casual hoodie over a white and blue tanktop nodding, kanna's colors nodded at the girl's affiliation, as if her youthful features weren't enough. Before long, someone actually commented on it, though not directly to her or someothing of the sort... Instead, Kanna merely had the pleasure of overhearing it as they chatted amongst themselves: "Hey look... Isn't that cutie of the chicks from the Colonel's boot camp?", asked one solider, likely having caught wind of the 3 day training for girls. "You right... Poor thing... Whoever picked Grayson to train a bunch of teenage girls must have been a sadistic fuck.", replied another, more sympathetic sounding soldeir amongst the two, "I mean, the guy's instruction can bring grown men to tears..." Kanna clicked her tongue, betraying her anger. The only thing worse than having to endure the Colonel's training after going there on her own free will... Was getting pitied for it. She fought with everything she had to prove her strenght to herself, and to prove to the guy nothing she did could ever break her. She didn't need anyone's pity, especially not from military types who could do nothing without an order, who couldn't use their brains on their own without a command to do so. "No need to pity her though, she's a quirker. I heard of them jumped or flew over Tanaka's wall of cripples like the easiest thing in the world." And all of a sudden, she had that rage building between her gritting teeth once again, clenching her rifle so hard she might as well break it. No... She hadn't used her quirk on that wall, probably wouldn't have even if she had the power to do so. This fresh reminder of these people's contempt against Quirkers, justifying all the abuse they could throw at them... It sickened her, fully reminding Kanna why she didn't trust people. At the end of the day, their pride, their needs, their prejudice... All of it mattered more than everyone else. And Kanna was no exception, so if she ever got to the point of liking someone, she's still do best staying away from them. With so many events validating this warped, cynical view of humanity, one might think how Kanna actually managed to bring out a helpful side in front of some people...
At the same time though, she wasn't close enough to listen to the other, less lewd minded privates planning an entirely different sort of entertainment... It wasn't until she heard somebody mentioning 'showing those kids their place'... Kanna overheard this all too well, and her brow twitched on reflex. She had three days of an idiot trying to show the blonde her place, bullying another student right in front of her her eyes for no reason other than having far too visible a quirk. The more time went on, the more she loathed the army and the people in it. The more she tried venting her frustration, the more some idiot would come over and piss her off once again. Gritting her teeth, she nonetheless took a deep breath, quelling the worst of her rage... Just like she'd done with the colonel... She'd show these guys the result of underestimating someone they didn't even know: "Fine... You're on.", replied the blonde, blunt and determined, yet not without showing off that confidence and sharp tongue, shrugging and shaking her head as she finished, "Not that you'll be a much better sport than just shooting cardboard alone, but it's whatever."
Opponents who only wanted to put Quirkers in their place, without any real competitive spirit beyond prejudice and hopeful bullying. As a gamer, she'd eat opponents like that for breakfast, like boys who thought a girl couldn't be a good player... Before she wiped the floor with their asses. If she found those annoying, imagine how she might feel about military types like this. On top of her dislike for the army as an institution, she'd just lived through one man turning his dislike for Quirkers into a three day hellish experience. So yeah, her patience for them had already run out, as that fierce glare might suggest. Thankfully for them, Elise soon walked up and distracted the hacker. Once she turned to someone she didn't really dislike or anything, that aloof hatefulness mellowed out quickly enough, finally expressing the surprise she felt earlier with a curious raise of an eyebrow: "I could tell you the same shit, you don't strike me as a gun nut.", she'd ask, casually resting on one hip. In the end, she'd lift her AK47 and gaze down on it, not really having any ill feeling towards a weapon over who taught her to use them, "Well, I don't dislike them... But since I went to the trouble of learning to shoot them, might as well keep practicing." For all her pride and anger, Kanna also had a pragmatist, rational side. As much as she hated the man who'd only just taught her a few days back, the skills she picked up from him were her own. Looking up from her gun to the girl who she now knew actually had a thing for snipers, Kanna looked to her as a duo partner in a game. Unlike that paintball match, she had a fair bit more investment in this bout, enough to glance at their opponents: "We ain't never seen each other in action, but... Neither have those guys, and they're underestimating us like hell.", she stated, her strategic mind already unwinding a plan to seize victory against trained soldiers, "If we downplay our abilities until the last moment, we can take em easily enough."

The smug soldier who had addressed Kanna merely grinned smugly in response. "We'll see how much of a Sport you'll be once we start shooting." Of course, the retaliation from the girl herself didn't go unnoticed either as the soldier's partner in crime for this scheme approached the shooting range with the same type of weapon model that Elise carried, an MSG90A1. The mere sight of it was enough to cause the smug companion of the man to smirk, clearly aware of the plan his friend had. "Since one of you girls are using a sniper it's only fair that we use a similar weapon for one of us." The man commented with a grin, not that he would take any complaints from the girl he already had considered to be nothing more than a brat. Meanwhile, Elise was clearly more occupied by the firearm she was holding, inspecting it from all sorts of different angles while humming excitedly. However, when Kanna voiced her surprise about Elise's presence at the shooting range the girl lifted her head slightly to look at Kanna and grinned happily in return. "I absolutely LOVE guns."
Some of the privates that were gathering to watch the match chuckled in amusement, clearly looking forward to this spectacle, but little did either the soldiers or Kanna know that among the crowd there were people who already knew what type of surprise awaited them. However, even if they were being underestimated Kanna still had a plan in mind to put that to full use, a clever scheme to lead her to victory. However, it appeared that she would be dealing with a complicated teammate, for Elise raised a hand to her cheek, cupping it lightly as she mused out softly. "Downplay our abilities? hmm... I guess I can try."
Still, it appeared their match was almost ready to begin as the smug soldier holding the AK-47 pointed at the computer screen above the range. "See that screen? It will list the distance of each dummy you hit with one of your three bullets. Rule, as mentioned before, is to hit as far as possible within three shots." A simple enough explanation even if Elise seemed more interested in the scope of her rifle than the actual match. Eagerly she was raising the firearm into the air, peeking through it while the first soldier of the pair raised his assault rifle. "I'll start." The man began as the various dummies appeared on the field. Surely those untrained girls would be unable to reach the effective firing range of the AK-47, which was about three hundred meters, so he could likely take it easy to hummilate the two even more than usually. With a smirk he adjusted his stance and lazily fired his first shot.
With a loud bang the bullet zoomed through the air, heading in a straight line toward a nearby dummy and soon the screen displayed the first score: 50 Meters. It was a decent warm up, but not enough to make those two know despair. In the end, he wanted to humiliate the two of them as much as he possibly could. Meanwhile Elise was quietly peeking through the scope, a smile still on her lips as if she was playing with a toy instead of a sniper rifle. A second bang followed, and lifting her gaze Elise spotted the target being hit at a range of 75 meters. Elise couldn't help but sigh as she hummed softly in amusement. "They really are taking it easy~" Yet hearing her words the riffleman grinned, knowing just how confident she was at their chance of winning against trained soldiers when he finally aimed a bit more properly and shot a final time, this time hitting a further away dummy at a 120 meters!
Elise let out a soft 'ooh' as she gazed up at the score and exclaimed with a tone that made it difficult to guess if she was mocking them or being serious. "Amazing, you didn't even reach half of the effective range~" The veteran engineer that had been talking to Elise raised a hand to his forehead, mumbling something about those soldiers being screwed at this rate. However, it seemed the soldiers were still fairly confident that Kanna wouldn't be able to hit the target properly at all! "Now it's the turn of one of you kids." Of course, it was a tactical choice: let one of them try their hand at surpassing the score, likely failing miserably but with a bit of luck? They might at least be able to beat his score. That was when his buddy came in. Armed with an MSG90A1 he could easily surpass any shot the kid with the assault rifle could make, and there was no way the lass with the sniper rifle would be able to deal with a weapon like the one she was wielding. If anything, she looked more like she was playing with a toy rather than a weapon!
"How about you go first Kanna?" Elise asked with her usual soft and gentle tone, lifting up her gaze as she mused softly. "If you know how to shoot them you should be able to surpass him, just take the right positioning, take your time aiming and then fire without challenging the recoil. People often make the mistake of trying to fight the recoil and grip their weapon too strongly. But with a proper aim you should be able to get past half the effective range. Besides, it's just stationary targets."
The smug soldier from before laughed in amusement at her words, countering them with a mocking. "Look, the little girl is trying to play soldier." But to his surprise it was neither Elise or Kanna who answered back, but a masculine voice among the crowd. "I'd gladly get that girl in my squad instead of you two idiots." Wait who said that?! Looking around he tried to spot the one who said those words but nobody noticeable was in sight...

Kanna didn't bother smack talking the guy any longer, she had nothing to say to guys like that, not when it felt far better to simply turn her back on him and shift her focus to Elise. Somewhat miffed by her reaction, the guys too just went to take their places at the shooting range, while Kanna looked over the girl she once thought of as sheepish, not really interested in fighting. Even now, Elise still gave that sort of vibe, enough for Kanna to crook her brow and wonder just what kind of change would have spurred her to take up arms. She knew nothing of the girl's parents being one of the victims of the hospital attack, but even she could realize whatever brought about such an interest wasn't something Elise was keen on sharing: "You really do huh...? Well I'll be damned...", replied Kanna, still visibly surprised, but nonetheless recognizing that interest as true. Not knowing for how long the girl had this interest. Eli's look made her somewhat confused though, what part of that idea was hard to understand? She understood confidence well enough to see the meaning of those words, enough to realize whatever training she'd been through to warrant it, "Well... If you're this confident, we should be fine anyway." Shrugging, Kanna really didn't like to get carried in a contest, but she couldn't deny a certain measure of comfort in knowing she could rely on her partner to pull her weight. If she reached a result she could satisfied with, and her partner's skills matched her confidence, then some of this frustration might finally ease away. Thus, the two approached the shooting range once again, with Kanna devoting only a mere portion of her attention to the soldier's explanation. Quite frankly, she'd figured they'd do it the old fashioned way, take shots at different targets of different ranges, and count the scores based on how close each bullet got to the highest ranking spots. "Easy enough...", commented Kanna, aloof and deadpan, making it quite clear she needn't such a long winded explanation once she had a good long look at their set up. No matter. With the first opponent using an assault rifle just like her, she'd most likely get her turn right after him. Looking aside, she saw the other soldier with a sniper rifle, and thus guessed he'd be Elise's opponent. At the end of the day, this came down to two one on one matches, as neither her nor Elise wanted to give any quarter. Unlike the soldiers who seemed happy to take it easy and fire wild potshots, "Wow...! What an impressive shot...! How difficult to do better.", quipped Kanna, a cold, abrasive tone tinged with irony, rolling her eyes as she spoke. So much for professionalism. "Right? I bet you much be trembling right about now...! Not too late to back out you know...?!", gloated the solder, sounding all too proud of himself, enough the blonde's eye rolling to repeat far more vehemently. Another dumbass who can't understand sarcasm... It took Elise spelling it out for him for the guy to get the drift, but even then he didn't look to perturbed by it. Guess he really was underestimating the two of them like nobody's business. Only half the effective range huh...? Weak. She couldn't do it all the time, but she could defenitely pull off that much and far more. "Well then, guess its my turn now...", she commented, walking past the soldier and taking her place at a similar setup. Instead of taking it easy, she crouched down and took aim, closing one eye and concentrating. Kanna took a deep breath, and focused... Instead of that soldier's lazy, piss poor, embarassment of a shot for his uniform, the blonde went serious, drawing upon every bit of skill those three days had drilled into her. Indeed, three days is surprisingly little. But throughout them she learned how to fire an M16 with her arms ridiculously sore from a whole day of intensive, body crushing physical exercise. Now, all that damage had mostly healed, and with all of the skill she'd acquired and none of the handicap, every bit of focus, every extra second spent aiming, would make the difference between victory or defeat. Her arms yet trembled, but she had an idea how to deal with it... Knowing her breath would affect the trajectory of the bullet, she fired just as she finished an inhaled, holding her breath for an instant and squeezed the the trigger. Recoiled knocked her gun slightly upwards, yet she accounted for it easily enough. One, two, three bullets fired from her gun in a quick burst, with one of them easily reaching the same 120m mark as her opponent. Kanna smirked... Looking at the guy, she saw a bead of sweat forming on his forehead. Indeed, she'd only managed about a draw... But in that 120m range, her shot had actually hit the target's body, while the solider's would have hit an arm, at best. Cutting her losses and acknowledging she'd likely not get the perfect accuracy she hoped, Kanna instead focused all of her skill in hitting the imaginary enemy's median plane, where she'd have likely done far more devastating damage: vital organs, spinal column... Any shot like that could easily kill, unlike a bullet to the arm that could kill by blood loss at best. Just as Elise implied, his carelessness was an embarassment to his uniform, and for Kanna to actually acknowledge this when she held the army in such little regard... It just meant his incompetence far surpassed even that. "Who's next...?", she replied, letting her gun slump down and turning around, looking between Elise and the military sniper boy. Her eyes fell on the latter, as she finally spoke, with very little concern, almost taunting the guy, "You, right...? Whatchu waiting for then?" Get under your opponent's skin, irritate them... They were already underestimating the two girls, surely Kanna's rivalling her opponent's shot only came down to dumb luck did it not? No gamer worth her salt could get by without knowing how to shit on her opponents, and that's exactly as she did as she walked past him and returned to Elise's side, wondering what look she'd have on her face as her turn approached fast...

Indeed, it seemed that Kanna's results had caught the soldier by surprise, his eyes widened in disbelief at the fact one of her shots reached the 120 meters mark. Of course, the soldier seemed quite displeased with the end result, crossing his arms beneath his chest and mumbled in disapproval. "That was just a lucky shot." He stated in clear annoyance while his companion sighed in amusement. "That's why you should have taken this a bit more serious dumbass." The sniper commented with a smirk as he heard Kanna's taunt and shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Yeah, yeah, don't get your panties in a mess just yet lass, you're about to regret challenging us." With his remark made the sniper raised his weapon and started to aim through the sights, almost feeling bad for the girls. There was a particular reason he had picked the sniper in comparison to the weapons Kanna and his partner had picked, a sniper rifle was meant for long distance shooting, and as such if you knew how to properly fire one, then you could easily surpass those distances. Considering a sniper rifle like the one he was wielding was meant to be used from a range of at least a hundred meters, it would be extremely easy for him to surpass Kanna's shot.
Something he soon proved when his first shot cleanly hit a one hundred and fifty meters mark. "Told ya!" the sniper's companion answered in a taunt while Elise was looking with a hint of fascination at the man's stance, muttering some illegible stuff under her breath. Meanwhile, a second shot was fired, this time hitting a dummy at a four hundred meters range making him almost look forward to see the end result of his actions. A third shot was launched, this one landing cleanly at a six hundred meters range. This was it, their glorious victory and the humiliating defeat of those two girls. With a smug grin, the two soldiers turned to each other and nodded in approval of what was to follow. "Don't worry about your side of the deal, we didn't make you promise something since we never expected you to stand a chance." The sniper said with a smirk, clearly considering their victory a fact and not even taking the time to consider the remaining participant a threat. Why would they? A sniper was a way more difficult and advanced weapon to wield properly compared to the other guns so...
"And this is why I warned them." The engineer mumbled in amusement as Elise had already taken her aiming stance, properly locking in on her target through the sights of her sniper rifle and with a gentle squeeze of the trigger the first bullet zoomed through the air, cleanly hitting the first target in the chest at an eight hundred meters range! The two soldiers looked in bewilderment as Elise turned to look at Kanna and asked her with a cheerful smile. "I held back~ Now I can fire normally right?" She looked so innocently positive despite the fact her shot had just beaten the two soldiers with ease, and seemingly ready to continue with her two remaining shots the girl resumed her aiming, this time her shot traveled much further, and people would understand why exactly Elise loved the sniper so much.
As a long-range weapon a sniper rifle like the one she was wielding could hit from anywhere from a hundred meters to a kilometer and two hundred meters in range, some very experienced snipers would even be able to reach up to two kilometers! That incredible range was part of what fascinated Elise so much. Her second shot showed just how far she could reach, hitting straight at the maximum effective firing range at a kilometer and two hundred meters, but the truly remarkable shot came at the end. Taking a deep breath it seemed like the girl's intensity on her aiming focus reached an entirely new level as she fired her last bullet and landed it cleanly on a dummy that was the furthest away, at a kilometer and half's reach! It was obviously understandable that the two soldiers were flabbergasted, and the same could likely be said about Kanna and the rest of the crowd as Elise lowered the rifle and titled her head lightly to the side in confusion at the looks the crowd gave her before turning toward the engineer with a grin. "The scope worked perfectly~" The girl answered with a smile while nodding her head sheepishly a few times. "With a scope like that, I can surely peek at Tetsu without her noticing it at all~ Wonder if I can get one for my Freyja, considering it's a modified MSG90A1 it should be possible?" The girl mused softly, clearly intrigued by the idea.
Meanwhile, the two soldiers were clearly still struck in disbelief, this clearly couldn't be a case of beginner's luck! They had anticipated Elise to miss all her shots! Instead, each shot surpassed their record and humiliated them instead! Still, it would be even more humiliating if they stepped back from the bet they themselves made. "Don't look so surprised idiots." One of the Veteran Engineers who had been watching among the crowd stated in amusement as he stepped forth and looked at the two soldiers in amusement. "You idiots decided to pick on some easy-looking targets because of your disagreement with the higher-ups their thoughts if people with Quirks would be able to be an asset to our army?" The soldiers looked kinda troubled as they were put on the spot by their senior who continued the verbal lashing. "If you are going to blame it on the girl having a Quirk then think again morrons, she bested you with a way more superior skill at handling the rifle. Then again, I'm not surprised after having seen her shoot before, and knowing who her teacher is. Either way, pay up your side of the deal and then get back to work, you wasted enough time already."
And with that the engineer walked away, leaving the two soldiers to redundantly pay up their side of the gamble!

Of course it did, these guys seem to have these silly notions that only they can fire their guns, that they can do it better than anyone else with their hands behind their backs. Once you think about it, you start wondering if this lack of discipline isn't the real reason why they've fallen out of favor in the eyes of the public, who'd much rather look to heroes to solve their problems. Even with her cynicism, Kanna knew a hero dedicated to their job could do a far more efficient job at protecting people than a military force with weapons of mass destruction. "Whatever, just go and take your shot.", Kanna replied, waving her hand dismissively while her eyes drifted to the teammate beside her She saw nothing wrong with the man picking a Sniper rifle, and one look at Elise explained why... Yes, a Sniper is a difficult weapon, there's a reason why Kanna's three day crash course didn't even touch them. But at the same time, the girl who claimed to love guns must understand that as well: Once the opponent sniper took aim though, the blonde sunk on one hip, casually watching the display. Yeah, even Kanna could likely hit those 120 meters with a sniper rifle, it really wasn't hard. But you don't need a sniper for something so meager, not when she could fire several rounds with an assault rifle. But once you start gunning for those long ranges the weapon excels at, the number of variables to account for drastically increase. Air density, wind speed and direction, even the rotation of the earth if you shoot far enough. That said, she hardly expected this gunman - let alone Elise - to pull off that kind of shot, hell, even at this shooting range it struggled to reach beyond 700 meters or so. "You have a sniper rifle and 150 is all you can do...?", Kanna inquired, raising an eyebrow incredulously, sighing as she shook her head. She'd be worried for the state of the whole country if this was the best he could do, but thankfully his next shot crossed the four hundred meters mark, a fair bit better, closer to the full range of his weapon. Kanna might actually worry for Elise, but even though she didn't trust people, she decided to trust the girl's confidence. Elise hardly looked the least bit shaken from the display, and quite honestly needed only. She paid little attention to the soldiers once the girl went over to take the last shot, "You're up now... Let's see what you can do." More so than the soldier showoffs who hardly seemed to take anything seriously Kanna had her eyes on Elise the whole time, especially since that engineer seemed all too confident in her skill, far more so than in those of her army brethren. Once the first shot easily topped the army sniper's though, Kanna's eyes widened, visibly impressed. She fooled around with the first shot apparently, but not so much with the last two, hitting the target at the weapon's full range "Damn... What the hell kind of training have you been up to...?", inquired Kanna, look of praise on her face as the ever pervy girl merely grinned and wondered how to use that scope to peek on her naked girlfriends. Why bother when she could have her naked in bed every night...? She must have one hell of a voyeurism fetish. Yet how could Kanna spend more than a few seconds mulling over that when this girl had somehow managed to pick up sniper skill of this level in a matter of days...? At least Kanna suspected she'd learned them recently, for the girl always looked pretty sheepish and peaceful, with little to no interest in combat of any kind... And now here she stood, looking at someone she knew could easily handle herself in a fight, "I doubt any of these guys bothered teaching you anything this useful." She nodded towards the disheartened soldiers dismissively, not specifically referring to them so much as every one in this army base who actually proposed to teach Quirkers anything... They cared not so much for teaching but instead showing off their supposed skill and hoping to get a look at some of the many Quirks in Yuuei... No, Elise had to have learned this from someone else, and she that engineer clearly knew who. "So you did find yourself a teacher...", noted Kanna, smirking softly, visibly amused by the talking to from the veteran engineer to their smug comrades. Clearly some people in the military still had something between their ears, and the blonde could only hope some among the top brass did so too. Unfortunately, few among their ranks seemed to share this open mindedness to Quirkers in the army, not that Kanna would join or anything. Casually, she couldn't help but cross her arms and raise an eyebrow as she looked at Elise and pondered on her teacher, "Anybody I know...?"

It was clear that Elise was paying little attention to the opponent who was taking his shots. Whether it was because of the fact she was disinterested in his performance, or simply because she expected him to lack the same type of skill that would make this match interesting, the end result still remained the same. A simple private like that was far inferior of an opponent than her teacher, who she had often spent time practicing side by side with. Indeed, one could easily say that Elise was disappointed at the performance of those two soldiers, clearly having expected them to be more of an interesting challenge, but someone who underestimated them so clearly was no match for her.
In fact, the shots fired by the private clearly lacked the same skill as a trained sniper would have, and as such when they started considering longer ranges, even the private couldn't do a shot that would make him a threat, if anything it made Elise almost feel dejected at agreeing to play along with this little game. And so the reason behind her confidence was shown: The first shot had accurately, and with remarkable ease toppled the private's record. When Kanna inquired about the nature of her training the burgundy-haired lass grinned at her and answered with a soft hum.
"I been training a lot with sensei~ Whether it's at the shooting range or in the field during school breaks," Elise explained with a playful hum as she finished her performance and continued to play around with the now detached scope. "I might have been able to hit further if I used Freyja, but sensei told me I can't carry it around without permission or in case of an emergency. You see, gun laws in Japan are kind of weird." Elise mused softly as she looked at Kanna through the scope.
"Of course not, there might be only one person at this base who might be able to teach the same degree of skill as my sensei~" Elise exclaimed proudly, clearly enjoying the conversation as she adjusted the scope lightly and continued to muse softly. "Mhmm, think only the Lieutenant would have something to teach me, but I'm not sure if he wants to teach me anything~ Then again, I'm sure sensei would teach me anything I need to know."
With a short tap on the scope, the girl paused for a moment as she tilted her head slightly to the side in confusion. In a way Kanna was right, she did find herself a teacher. "Perhaps it's more correct to say that sensei found me~" Elise answered with a sheepish grin. It was true, in the military base the majority of the people were divided in their opinion of people with Quirks, about whether they were an asset to the military or not, and as such it wasn't an understatement to say that most wouldn't be inclined to teach someone anything beyond the mere basics.
Nonetheless, as the subject of her teacher came to light Elise seemingly was left to ponder about the subject. "Hmm I wonder~" She paused for a moment, seemingly scooping up some of the bills the soldiers had left behind and continued to hum playfully. "Perhaps you do~ And if you don't, I'm sure one with your amount of network skills would find out easily enough." A soft hum of amusement followed as she mused a new idea. "Hmm with half of this I totally could take Tetsuko out on a date~ Or maybe I should put it on the bank, hmm choices..." Elise contemplated one of the most difficult things adults had to deal with: how to manage finances!
"But I wonder why sensei isn't visiting the military encampment. I mean, I would imagine most people would be happy to see a former colleague, but sensei told me he's been too busy to join me." A pout of annoyance followed before the girl turned her gaze back at Kanna and raised a finger to her lips as if to make it clear it was a secret. "My sensei is someone from our school~ a very important person~" Elise answered with a sheepish grin as she handed the scope back to the engineer, seemingly having been satisfied toying around with it long enough. "Then again, I doubt it's gonna remain a surprise for long, I guess I put on a bit of a show whenever they asked me to join the shooting range. However, it's such a rare opportunity to wield a real weapon!"
She really seemed excited as she finally filled up her wallet and hummed softly. "So what you be planning next Kanna? Going somewhere? Hopefully not get into another bet with soldiers, you know how the school thinks about gambling~" Chuckling softly, maybe she shouldn't have told that while she was counting the bills her wallet was now filled with! She really was looking forward to spending it with Tetsuko! Then again, they did rightfully earn it!
"I'm likely gonna stick around the encampment for a while longer, and then go and find where Tetsuko disappeared to this time~ That silly girl really is like an excited puppy sometimes, wandering off without saying a word!" A playful little pout followed as she looked at Kanna, seemingly waiting for her response. Truth to be told, now that they had finished their little shooting game she wasn't sure if Kanna wanted to do anything else, not that Elise had anything in particular in mind.
"Still surprised to see you at the shooting range, didn't imagine this type of stuff to be the type of thing you'd be interested in. I imagined Kanna-chan to be more the type to like robots or mechas and all sorts of robotic stuff, or maybe even a tank! Actually... kinda wonder if they have a mecha here, I do know the army has drones, because I have one myself~" The girl exclaimed with a soft hum, clearly proud at the it of info she knew.

"Sensei huh... I'm pretty sure you do mean one of our school teacher, which begs the question of whom...", crossing her arms, she brought one hand up to her chin, lowering her head without even breaking eye contact with the trained sniper and medic. Actually, she had a pretty good idea of who it might be... One among the faculty was a former soldier in the JSDF, the Principal himself. She knew of no other teacher who could effectively drill a student in the use of weaponry on such a short notice... Defenitely not Sniper rifles, "I know, but it's better to have gun laws than let any maniac buy their own gun without asking questions." For once Kanna had to agree with the law, something she rarely did. The only way to deal with people having guns is carrying a gun yourself... And when tensions run high, people lose control and do stupid shit, like, say, shooting someone you hardly even know. "Nah, stick with Sensei, really... You even got a whole custom gun and whatnot, and I wouldn't recommend taking lessons from folks around here.", Kanna shook her head, rubbing her forehead, clearly unpleasantly remembering her experiences with her last training session from a military man. She did get back at him, but now had been left with zero interest in letting yet another military type get the same experience, "I feel there's a story behind that, but I'll ask you sometime later." Yeah, she obviously had no interest in probing Elise for her personal history in a place like this, easily noticeable with the way she looked around. Yes, Kanna obviously disliked the military and all their smugness and self entitled bitchiness; she didn't trust any of them as far as she could trust them, having already realized they were just out to prove themselves superior to Quirkers, or at least turn them into usable weapons. "Well, banks are troublesome... I recommend investing somewhere safer.", noted Kanna, quickly counting her stack of money and pocketing it without a second thought... No doubt she'd invest in cryptocurrencies, though she wouldn't recommend it to anyone who didn't know what they were doing. When Elise said she could easily figure out who her teacher was, the blonde merely nodded, a smirk drawing on her lips, "I'm pretty sure I already do, so yeah, I don't really need you to answer that." Why would the principal bother teaching a Quirk using student how to shoot was a different matter altogether, one perhaps not even Elise knew for sure. If she had any sliver of doubt as to his identity though, it would have vanished the moment the student mentioned him not visiting his former colleagues: "Considering his line of work and the way most these idiots treat Quirkers, I'm pretty sure you can figure that answer out for yourself.", noted the hacker, sighing as she finally took the AK47 off her shoulder and placed it back where she'd found it. She turned around for a moment to do so, but even then kept chatting to Espy like normal, "You know, you have shooting ranges where you can try out weapons, without any need to spend time with military types like these guys." The next question earned little more than a dismissive shrug as teh blonde brushed her loosened hair and looked up into the sky, finally glancing back down at her surroundings: "Who knows... Depends on whether or not these guys have anything else I'll be interested in trying out.", pushing her hip out to one side, Kanna stood in a casual stance, still somewhat interested in the girl who until a few days ago had been all about healing and chemicals, "Still, I can imagine why one would get overly excited about everything they can see here. I haven't seen any mechas yet, but some of this tech is pretty interesting." Indeed, Kanna visibly shared this excitement, even without mechas. Her lips widenend into an almost giddy smirk as a little chuckle escaped them; clearly she wouldn't mind running into one of those mechas instead, but at the very least she'd settle for some tanks or even whatever kind of experimental weapons she could get her hands on: "...And I didn't expect you'd be into drones...", retorned the blonde, one brow raising at the same time as she eyed Elise with growing interest. Her knowing how to shoot was indeed interesting, but nothing really special... Having drones was a different thing altogether, "That kind of toys require pretty high level software, who coded it?" Cocking her head, this subject visibly captivated the blonde's interest far more intensely than anything they'd done before. Drones were complicated pieces of machinery, complicated enough to require proportionally complex, highly efficient software to be realistically useful. Which begged the question, who had developed said software? And if it wasn't someone particularly good, no doubt Kanna could help make it much better, if only for a chance to actually mess with such fancy machines.

Of course, it was rather easy to guess who Elise's teacher would be. In fact, a momentary consideration was all one needed to deduct that among the faculty of the academy there was only one person who had the skillset and experience to effectively drill a student into learning to master the usage of weaponry on such a short notice. Someone who had previously had experience in the military, a former member of the JSDF. Indeed, there was no doubt that it was easy to guess that the principal himself had taught her the art of gunslinging. "Of course, my new homeroom teacher told me about how it is still quite possible for people with less savory intentions to get them through illegal means, but at least the laws make it harder to carry one with you. It's part of why my own is always in a special case that can only be opened if I'm in life-threatening danger or if sensei gives me permission."
Although, Kanna did have a point, while a quirk might be as lethal as a gun depending on the one wielding it, a gun made it all the more easy for even the weak to get a sudden boost in firepower, and when tension ran high, it were usually those people who were the first to lose control and do something foolish, like for example shooting someone they simply perceived as a threat.
"Mhmm~ I doubt anyone here will be able to teach me as well as Sensei did." The girl answered in affirmation, clearly thinking quite highly about her mentor while she followed Kanna's gaze. She could understand that the overal attitude of the military, or at least the side that despised Quirkers showed toward them. That crudeness, the smug attitude and the self-entitled bitchiness certainly was something she heard from others before, and even experienced a few times in person before, but fortunately for her a girl with gunslinging skills of a delta force operative was enough to make them think twice about messing with her while she was playing around in the armory.
Still, it was clearly a subject that wouldn't linger for long, because the lass was already counting the bills while nodding her head lightly in agreement to Kanna. "I'll talk about it with sensei later~" the lass mused softly, thinking it might had indeed been in her best interests to seek out Kobayashi later for advice on how to properly invest the money she had earned from this little 'contest' as she liked to describe it.
A soft hum followed as she mused softly. "Well, it seems some of them are still on good terms with him, but yeah it seems a majority of the army seems to be quite displeased at the presence of Quirkers like us." of course, she couldn't help but shake her head lightly at Kanna's suggestion to visit different shooting ranges to try out weapons without needing to spend time with military types like those that despised Quirkers like they had faced earlier, but the girl merely hummed happily. "But it is fun to practice shooting with sensei~" Indeed, she certainly found his presence part of the reason she enjoyed practicing her firearms handling skills so much! "Mhmm~ There is a lot of interesting ammunition on display, although the best and most fun ones are the experimental ones they are experimenting with~"
However, the talk about mechas and tanks did amuse her, even if the thought of watching Kanna ride one did make her slightly nervous, she was pretty confident that riding a car or a tank wasn't exactly the same like in a video game, and she didn't want to read any news reports of a student highjacking a tank either!
"Mhmm, I use it to compliment my skillset~ This drone in particular belonged to sensei, so I guess an engineer in the army coded it, seems it was a associate or former colleague of sensei~" Elise explained with a sheepish grin as she pointed lightly toward the camera. "There is a camera here which helps tag targets for me, making it easier for me to snipe at enemies. But I'm planning a super special project once the military demonstration camp is over, going to upgrade the To-dro!" huffing her chest lightly with pride the girl continued. "I already got someone who can make the engineering part, someone who can provide me the materials~ I will just need someone who can do the programming and then BAM! To-Dro V2 will be unleashed upon the sky!" A hearty chuckle escaped Elise's lips as she was about to tell Kanna something, but a sudden cheerful melody started playing from her phone, clearly a catching pop idol tune that made Elise quickly pick up her phone for a moment. "Mhmm, I'm at the shooting range Tetsu~ WAH! You already started cooking dinner?! Nu~Uh, I'll be back soon! Wait for me okay?" a smile from ear to ear upon her lips the lass happily turned toward Kanna and hummed softly. "But I tell you more about it next time at school Kanna~ Tetsu is making dinner so I got to rush homewards now!"
Indeed, with the boundless energy of a kid on a sugar-rush the burgundy-haired lass stashed her phone away and scooped up the drone in her arms. "I'll talk to ya later Kanna~" With a final wave of her hand Elise started running off, unaware of just how significant today's encounter would be. In the end, Kanna was a skilled programmer in her own right, and with the right skills at her disposal she certainly could enhance the burgundy-haired lass her drone in ways that would had been impossible to do previously. However, it seemed that for now no such thoughts loomed on the horizon. No... it was clear that all Elise von Eisenberg could think about right now was what type of dish her beloved girlfriend would make tonight...

Indeed, who among a school of heroes with actually bother with guns and military training if not for a Quirkless former soldier? From what she knew of the man, Kanna wouldn't even object to this seemingly unusual choice; after all, the man seemed to have a good head over his shoulders, not really blinded by prejudice like many of his JSDF comrades. Though she hadn't actually met the man, she had no real issues with him beyond some of the silly rules the school enforced, but then again, she'd grown used to subverting dumb rules schools so often came up with. Truly, Elise had picked herself a competent teacher, as her skills with the rifle so clearly suggested. "Well, it's not as if half the students in this school aren't packing Quirks that can kill people...", Kanna shrugged, noting the contradiction between her earlier words and this current statement, "But I guess that's one reason why people need a hero school. To train lethal abilities without killing anyone... At some point, you'll need to learn how to make that judgement for yourself, when the time is ripe to pull out the big gun." In terms of lethality, Kanna's was among the least lethal Quirks, unless she got any ideas of shutting down city wide electronics systems... No real reason or advantage to be gained from it, yet nonetheless something for any hacker to keep in mind when considering the hopeful harmlessness of their abilities. When scaled to that level, cyber users like herself easily stood high up there with the fiery and explosive types as among the most dangerous. "You're right on that, folks here would either have you neglecting your Quirk or treating it as something that makes you less than them.", scoffed the blonde, clicking her tongue and shooting an annoyed glance at those smug soldeirs they'd only just had to defeat and give a measure of humility to. But who knows how long the memory of that defeat may last, until they'd forget all about it and decided to challenge more students to shooting matches to prove their supremacy. Or, try to, at least...
Yeah, Kanna already knew where she might invest that money, she had plenty of options to begin with, but even then some of those stood out like a sore thumb, such as upgrading some parts on her computer or simply sinking a bit more money into the crypto market. She scarcely bothered counting beyond a single look over, seeing this reward as little more than free money... In the end, Kanna sighed and scratched her head: "Well, you do you, I guess... These guys are totally insufferable.", she commented once more, not even bothering to look around, still making it all too clear who exactly she was talking about. Perhaps visiting a shooting range incognito could solve the problem, but still, it only really meant they wouldn't come face to face with it. Hopefully the army would grow progressively more insignificant until it had no business sticking it to Quirkers... But they'd lash out all the more intensely before that day ever came, "Yeah, I already had a good time with some of those... Hell, they even have a railgun according to this chick from our school." How could she forget something like that, Yumi's irresistible advertisment on the presence of Rail Guns at this base. She had yet to see them, but still, the glimmer in her eyes betrayed Kanna's excitement. The moment they immersed themselves into that little conversation on drones and military tech, Kanna's lips widened into a the faintest of smiles, the cyber nut hooking her arm around an elbow behind her as she leaned in: "Oh, so you use it in place of a spotter huh...? Not a bad idea, a drone can give you a better eye than another person, and they don't get distracted.", nodded the blonde, visibly approving the girl's judgement while a hand reached up to cup her chin, "If you wanna hire yourself a coder, I'd be down for that. If you're gonna have a dumb drone, might as well fight by yourself... And a drone's only as smart as the dev coding their software. Clunky code means dim witted machine." Kanna knew a couple machine learning algorithms she could implement on a machine like this, and she couldn't even hide a measure of eagerness at the chance of putting them to the test. Perhaps Elise might figure it out for herself, but either way, Kanna would probably take this job with nothing but a simple cup of coffee for payment, about as close to doing for free as a girl like her could possible work. She even looked away from Eli and up into the sky, already thinking up algorithms, if's else's and while's , all the design patters that could optimize. Only Elise's phone ringing pulled her out from this absent mood, and finally the blonde nodded, and waved as the girl walked off: "'iight, see ya... Hit me up on the class chat if you need me or something.", she'd say, letting the girl go off to tend to her business. She took a couple of seconds to watch her leave, then finally shrugged and walked off in search of greener pastures. Hmm... Could she perhaps find that railgun today?
