It wasn't often that opportunities like this came around. Usually life was a dull rat race in the military. Training, deployment, fighting, all for no good reason, really. They mask it with freedom and independence but what is it really other than a race for resources and bondage? Such simple things. Why could nobody see the greater picture? Things like this infuriated one Tanaka Greyson who found himself above all of this bullshit that the military seemingly stood for. And yet he was still here, waiting for that one golden egg that he was sure was going to bring some intrigue to his life. And, lo and behold, here it showed up.
Inside his quarters, the blinds closed and lights turned off, the Corporal hummed to himself as he stared at his laptop, the only real source of light in the room. A borderline insidious smile was on his face as he read the information that had been forwarded to him about a one Igarashi Ryuusei. Interesting. Truly, truly interesting. Scrolling through the info provided for him, he clicked on a video that had been sent to him, a new screen popping up in his peripheral vision. Here the male student was fighting another - some blonde girl. She didn't interest him; all the Corporal saw in her was a brute with quirk that was good for nothing other than destruction. Igarashi, though... now his quirk did seem useful in so many ways.
Tanaka then proceeded to read his background and psych info. He hummed to himself again, a finger on his chin as his smirk had turned into a borderline grin. Yeah, this would be perfect. Perhaps he could see some fun yet. His hands running along his keyboard, he sent the request under the name of a Major General whose name was irrelevant. Lieutenant Hideaki would receive it; with the info provided, he would undoubtedly try to provide Igarashi with the foundations the Corporal figured he'd need. After that... oh this would be so much fun!
--------------------------------------------------
The Lieutenant was already swamped. It was honestly surprising how many kids here needed guidance. Fighting, mental fortitude, quirk work... it was either one thing or another. Often several at a time. While he was still adamant that kids shouldn't be trained to fight and should just stay at kids, he also wasn't oblivious to the fact that this was going to happen regardless of his opinion. Thus he resolved himself to at the very least try to guide them in the right direction. Hopefully with some measure of proper counsel he'd be able to point them in the right direction. This ideas of heroes in their current society... it wasn't a bad one. The most important part was to execute it properly.
When Ryouta Hideaki received Ryuusei Igarashi's profile, he couldn't help quirking his brow. An invisibility quirk, a rather timid personality, the way he fought and recent events... too much pointed towards a possible Black Ops operative. But... why have it sent to him by a goddamn Major General, of all people? This made no sense. Requests didn't come from this way up in the ladder, especially not for some kids with quirks that for all intents and purposes weren't even that special.
But, at the same time, he could see Igarashi's potential. It hadn't been long until Ryouta reached out to the kid and invited him over to the canteen. The first thing that needed to happen was a simple conversation. Then they could figure out what to do next. If the Lieutenant was correct, this kid could end up being a force to be reckoned with. He'd just need a nudge in the right direction to push him forward.

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings Making his way - on foot - to the military camp, Ryuusei Igarashi still couldn't quite believe the situation that he found himself in. The military camp ordered by the government was all over the news. Whether you were on online forums, reading the newspaper, watching television or hearing people talk on the streets of Tokyo, the main topic of discussion was the same: should Quirkers be allowed on the japanese military forces? The question still didn't have an answer, but the higher ups of Japan were eager to find it. According to the word that was being spread out, the camp was open to almost everyone who had a Quirk and was willing to earn and help, didn't matter what age or gender. Such criteria revealed itself to be true when, at the U.A. School, it was announced that all students were encouraged to attend. It made sense: not only was Yuuei the first and only school dedicated to train those who have Quirks and wanted to become heroes, but its Principal was a former military man. With these two points, a partnership between the Yuuei system and the government's military camp was a match made in heaven. Walking through the halls, the same effect that could be seen on the streets of Tokyo was being replicated. Ryuusei could notice: everyone was talking about it. Excitement about going to this special event, learn from trained people, whehther it would be combat, rescue, medicine or even other things. So this is how the beginning of indoctrination looks like, Ryuu thought to himself as he left his classroom and saw how everybody was reacting to the news. Yes, the youngest of the Igarashi family did not have a particular interest in attending. Scratch that - he didn't want to. He felt like they would just try to convince all those young kids that their best option would be to waste their life's by joining the military... much like Yuuei was convincing them that they should waste it by becoming heroes. He could take the time everybody was taking at the military camp to read - afterall, his reading of "Heroes, Villains and Me" had reached a rather interesting topic. Yeah, this would be much better than being brainwashed. However... It was the day before the military camp officially started. Arriving home after spending the whole day attending classes, he was greeted by his mother who told him that he had received a letter. That was uncommon. Grabbing it, it immeadiately called his attention. What the hell? he asked himself, seeing that the letter had been sent by a Major General of the japanese military ranks. Opening the letter, he couldn't believe what he was reading. It was rather long, but the core of its content was clear: "We think that you're special, that you have talent and potential. Hence, we directely invite you to attend the 1st special military camp for Quirkers". He had already decided so... why was it that reading that letter gave him such a strange feeling? Being aknowledge, possibly being a perfect fit for something... was that the piece that would fill the hole that hero training at Yuuei wasn't able to occupy? He talked to his parents that night about whether he should go or not. Telling them about the letter, but also about his doubts and fear regarding the entire camp. With the exception of a very old relative from the side of Hiroko's family that had fought during the now almost forgotten Second World War, no one from the family had ever been a military man or woman. Despite that, both Minato and Hiroko were clear: do what feels right to you right now. And so he did. Standing at the entrance of the camp, he was wearing a simple white t-shirt, black jogging pants and running shoes of the same color. He also wasn't wearing his usual earring, isnce he assumed that would be something that the military men and womem would frown upon. Saying his name to the officer guarding the main entry point of the camp, Ryuusei showed the man the email that had been sent to him that morning by Lieutenant Hideaki Ryouta, who expressed his wish of meeting the teenager at the camp's canteen. The guard verified that the email was real and, after that, gave directions to Ryuusei on how to find said location. Lost on his thoughts, he didn't even register what the rest of the camp looked like. Heading towards the canteen, he entered with caution and respect. Analyzing the area, he looked for a man that fitted the description given by the guard at the entry. Finding him, Ryuu would look to the name tag on his uniform to be assured that it was, in fact, the riht person. Confirming that the man he was eyes was really the Lieutenant, Ryuusei approached him. He made the most perfect military salute that a kid with no prior experience in the army could make. He had looked up on how to do it the day before, since he didn' want to seem rude to the ones serving the country... even if he did find that whole camp a little fishy. My name is Ryuusei, Igarashi Ryuusei sir. I believe that I was supposed to meet you here.Ryuusei was, at least, 5 minutes earlier that the time mentioned in the email. Mixed feeling hovered his mind: on on side, caution; one the other... excitement. Notes: Let the event begin! Words: 917. Tags: Dauwz

As he was sitting in the canteen, having arrived about fifteen minutes early, the lieutenant had found himself re-reading Igarashi's file one more time. Holding a military-issued iPad-like device in his hands, his fingers scrolled through the information, curious blue eyes taking in all of it while his brain digested everything at the same time. The military instincts in him had already begun devising ways of how the boy could possibly improve himself, a plethora of possible pathways opening up to be explored. First and foremost what interested the Lieutenant the most was the boy's quirk - an ability to make the boy turn invisible. But how far did it stretch? How long could he keep himself invisible? Could he possibly turn other things invisible? Such an ability could provide invaluable for search and rescue, search and destroy, recon, infiltration, sabotage, espionage... you name it. So many possible ways of using this type of ability; Ryouta's mind was racing at how to best employ this lad.
Somewhere along the line the blond soldier had lost himself in thought, not even noticing when he popped a cigarette in his mouth and lit it, inhaling and exhaling a puff of grey smoke. It didn't take long for his attention to be redirected elsewhere, though, as a younger-sounding voice called out to him. Glancing up curiously, he was a little surprised to see his aforementioned charge having arrived. He checked the clock, five minutes early. Heh. Kid's punctual.
Smiling, Ryouta stood up and offered to shake the student's hand, "Pleasure to meet you, Igarashi-kun. Please, drop the formalities. You're not a soldier, so no need to put on this whole respect bravado," he advised warmly. "Sit. Let's have a chat. Man to man, yeah?"
"Coffee?" The Lieutenant offered, pushing one of the two cups he had gotten from the canteen towards Ryuusei. It was far from the best he had ever tasted; heck, it could be argued that it was probably some of the shittiest coffee he had ever tried. But fuck if the bitter taste didn't kick his mind into gear.
"Now," he began, taking the cigarette from his mouth and leaving it in between his index and middle fingers. Leveling Ryuusei with an inquisitive stare, he began, "Why did you join Yuuei, Igarashi-kun? You know what. Start from the beginning. Tell me a little bit about yourself. Consider this like a job interview. Just, y'know, relax. Take it easy. Start from the beginning."

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings A-Aye, he responded to Ryouta Hideaki words of not being any need for the formalities one usually has to deal with in the army. Well, if he was saying so, then Ryuu would obey - afterall, he was there to follow orders, didn't matter if they were said with the intetion of it being taken as a order or not. Sitting down in the rather empty canteen, Hideaki now offered the Yuuei student some coffee. Ryuusei responded positevely, thanking the man for the offer. Holding the small cup and pressing it against his lips, Ryuusei took a chance to look better at the man who continued to talk to him. He seemed young, his blonde hair and blue eyes fitting perefectely with his jovial face. There was, however, a hint of something menacing: like he could simply turn a switch all of the sudden and become super serious. But he seemed like a genuine person, someone one could trust. Hell, just hearing him talk made Ryuusei forget how bad the coffee he was drinking was. Why did I join Yuuei and telling about myself... We begin with difficult questions... he thought as he processed what Hideaki, now smoking, asked of him. He took time to respond, thinking about what to say. The lieutenant would certainely take notice of that. Any other student would surely be quick responding to such question, but Ryuu... Ryuu wasn't like them, it wasn't so simple. After some time, he finished the coffee with one last sip and placed the cup back onto the table. Then, he responded... And he responded in the most truthful way possible - the military trusted on his potential to join, so he would play they're game and trust them back. My older and only sister... Yaso, it's her name. She's Quirkless but she always wanted to be a hero. And I'm sure she would've figured something out you know? She was strong, scary strong... But one day two Quirkers, some random villains really, attacked my house and... - he played with his fingers while talking - ... and she got into a coma while protecting me. She defeated them though, that's how good she was... - he paused for a moment, a desolate look on his face - So, anyway, when I heard about Yuuei I decided to apply, something in the lines of "I'm going to carry her dream". And, to my surprise, I got in. My grades were always straight A's, so I guess it had more to do with that than with my actual Quirk, since I'm not doing that great in the Hero Course so far. He looked at Hideaki's eyes, a little smile on his face. asmile that carried many, many emotions. I haven't told this to anyone, but I really don't think being a hero is for me, you know? At least, not a hero like everyone defines it... And, as much as I love my sister, I think that I've realized that... - he paused a little once more; it was difficult saying it out loud for the first time - ... maybe carrying her dream is a mistake. Living for somebody else, getting consumed by the dreams of others instead of fighting for your own... I don't know, but maybe that's not really living.
He stopped playing with his fingers. If his words so far carried a little of doubt, like he was himself still trying to put everything he talked about in it's right place, the next ones would clearly have more conviction, more determination. But I think I do have a dream... I want to reach the stars, I want to grab them all, see them shine in my own hands knowing I gave it my all to get to them. I just have to understand what those stars are to me... I guess it's why I also accepted the invitation to come here, to perhaps figure that out.He didn't know how that all would sound to Hideaki. Hell, Ryuu didn't even fully know how that sounded to himself. You probably didn't want such a big response, I'm sorry. There he was. The kid who wanted to reach the stars but, at the same time, wished to be hidden in the shadows, not exposing himself. Notes: Dreams... They are big things, aren't they? Words: 716. Tags: Dauwz

Waiting for the younger boy to begin speaking, Hideaki Ryouta had tried sipping on his coffee, finding the taste utterly atrocious after all. If it weren't for his morning cigarette he was fairly certain he would've flung the damn thing across the canteen and back into the face of the jackass who had served it. Seriously, would it kill them to get some better coffee beans?
Regardless, when Ryuusei had begun speaking, the Lieutenant had turned on interviewer mode, listening and nodding to the boy's words, double checking the facts on the military issued iPad like device in his hand without showing it to the boy. A sister, an attack, and a disastrous accident. All of it had seemed... familiar to the Lieutenant. The circumstances differed by a great margin but the concept of what happened was the same as what he had gone through with his own brother when they were kids. It was something that drove him into the military in the first place, much alike what was happening to Igarashi-kun as well. He rubbed his chin, deeply in thought, his mind trying to process the situation. Somewhere along the line a small smile appeared on his face; he could almost see himself in the kid. It was a strange thought.
His eyes had eventually drifted from the small screen in his hands to Ryuusei, noticing how the boy was playing with his fingers - a clear sign that he was uncomfortable talking about this. That was natural, really. Everyone had difficulty expressing their own deepest thoughts. Especially, he noticed, thoughts that one hadn't fully accepted yet. Living for someone else, huh... he knew what the feeling was like all too well. It was a fleeting feeling - knowing that you were accomplishing someone else's dream for them. But, at the same time, it was something that could utterly consume you, making you feel like less of a person than you already thought you are. People were beings that required communication and connection, that simple fact that been law. But, at the same time, people were also individualistic creatures, requiring their own goals and dreams fulfilled to feel accomplished. Sure, there were outliers - people who thrived off of selfishly aiding others. But Ryouta could bet his money on the fact that this kid wasn't one of those people.
"Reaching for the stars, eh..." The Lieutenant finally spoke after a while, waving off Igarashi's reply. "You know the story of Icarus? In Greek mythology, Icarus was the son of Daedalus, a skillful craftsman and artist. The two of them had been imprisoned by the King of Crete within the Labyrinth, something Daedalus himself had invented. Refusing to stay captive forever, Daedalus had fashioned two pairs of wings with feathers, wooden frames and wax. He gave one pair of wings to his son, Icarus, warning him that if he flew too close to the sun the wax would melt. Icarus, having gotten a little too excited by the concept of flight, had completely forgotten his father's warning and tried to touch that red ball of fire in the sky. Suffice it to say he ended up plunging to his death in the sea."
"Now, why am I telling you this little story? I'm sure there's many meanings you can take away from it - most do, in one way or another. But mostly, Igarashi-kun, it is my belief that you need to set your priorities straight. Take it one step at a time. While I have nothing against you reaching for the stars, try too many things too quickly and it will overwhelm you. Before you can reach for the stars, first you need to develop a way to fly. After that? A way to land. Then you can begin learning how to soar. And then? Well, then it's up to you what you do. You are always free to decide what you want to do, but you need to remember to have safeties in place so you don't crash and burn."
"Heroes. Being a hero isn't all that new," the blond Lieutenant added, exhaling a puff of grey smoke before patting the cigarette, letting the ash helplessly fall into the ashtray. Fixing his bandanna, he set down his iPad on the table, leaned back into his chair and glanced at the ceiling in thought, "Doctors. Teachers. Firefighters. There are many respectable individuals who most of society would consider heroes. This whole idea of needing a superpower to be a hero is pretty shitty, if you want me to be honest. Anyone can be a hero. All you need is the right mindset. The traditional sense? I don't think there is a traditional sense. This whole notion of a career as a hero? In my honest opinion it de-legitimizes what a Hero actually is."
Glancing at Ryuusei, the Lieutenant smiled, "So what I'm trying to say, Igarashi-kun, is that while you don't think you can be the "traditional" type of hero," the blond emphasized this with air quotes, "You can still be a hero. The only thing you have to do is set your mind to it. That's all you have to do. You don't need some kind of class or diploma to tell you that hey, now I can run around town with a cape and call myself a hero! No. What you need is the drive to protect that which is threatened. That's my firm belief of what makes up a real hero."
Leaning over the table, the Lieutenant brought both of his hands over, leaning his chin on top of them while supporting himself with his elbows against the table. Looking at Ryuusei with a curious glance, he smiled, "Or am I wrong?" He asked, trying to coax the answer out of the teen. The kid was confused; unsure of himself. Before any training at all could be done, he needed to point him in a direction. It didn't even matter if it was the right one. The most important thing was to get him started. Where he goes from there was his own decision. Since, after all, just like most things, the most difficult part was starting.

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Ryuusei was familiar with greek myth of Icarus, as he was with most ancient myths. The kid was an avid reader and enthusist by every field - whether it would be history, philosophy, art or any other. Despite being only sixteen years old, the amount of books, articles and other writings that Ryuusei had already read and studied were almost unbelievable. However, he wasn't about to be disrespectful to someone who had just listened to him with full attention. So, he heard in silence the lieutenant speak: words about the tale of the boy who got too close to the sun and how Ryuusei should be careful to find himself in such place. Do you think he regretted it? - Ryuu asked - Icarus... as he was falling, do you think that he regretted reaching the sun for that one fleeting, beautiful and otherwise unatainable moment or do you think that he drowned with a smile on his face?It was an honest question with an honest voice. It was clear that he wasn't making a snarky comeback but was genuinely curious on how Hideaki Ryouta would respond. It was what Ryuusei always thought when he read discussion about the tale of Icarus and about what do take from it. What if he knew? What if Icarus remembered his father's words and fully knew that getting close to the sun would mean his own death? What if, knowing that, he still chose to obtain that moment. The view from up there... It might've been the most gorgeous sight someone has ever seen. And if that was Icarus wish no man should judge his ambition, his death. After the question and before Ryouta could reply, Ryuusei still added. But I get what you're saying, I'll be careful, afterall, Ryuusei was still a smart individual. However, he also couldn't lie to himself: for him, being Icarus didn't sound so bad because, at the end, the boy with wax wings reached his goal. Wasn't that enough? The conversation then moved to the topic of heroes. Ryuusei didn't like smokers or smoke a lot - he always assumed that it was something uncounscious due to his Quirk and his need to be able to breather at 110% - but, with that man, he did not mind it. It was the first time someone talked to him in a way that didn't put these new Heroes in a godly place. Before Hideaki, only the writings of Nano Nanigashi - despite more extremist - gave confonrt to Ryuusei, assuring him that, out there, more people felt like him. One particular sentence got stuck on Ryuu's mind. "What you need is the drive to protect that which is threatened"Yeah, that sounded... it sounded absolutely correct. But what was it? What was it that Ryuusei thought to be threatened? He knew, he knew fully well. But that thought, the idea of what he himself might be able to do... it scared him. At what lenghts would he let himself go to protect the society he felt to be in danger? Worse: if he found himself threatened, how far would he go to protect himself... No, that wasn't it. He couldn't care less about himself. The real question was another one: at what point would he stop if he ever felt that his dream was being threatned? You know it. You know what you're true path is.Lost in his thoughts, as soon as that voice voice echoed once again on his head, the lieutenant brought Ryuu back with a single question. "Or am I wrong?"He stopped looking down at the table to look at Ryouta. No, no, you're absolutely right - he paused for a second, trying to figure out how to put into words what he wanted to say - Popularity, rankings, attention, flashy entrances, payment... I don't care about all of that, I really don't. I just want to do what feels right to me... Maybe that's too selfish, I suppose. His mouth was starting to get a little dry. Ryuusei wasn't used to talk this much, for this long... But an actual conversation about the way things are, about his future... It felt good. Notes: Really enjoying their conversation!Words: 701.Tags: Dauwz

When faced with the question, Ryouta had a very particular answer for the boy. It was one that he himself led his life by; one that kept him going even when he thought there was nothing left to fight for. And as he pondered on how to present his answer, the Lieutenant had stayed relatively quiet. He inhaled the last of his cigarette, taking one final and very long drag before putting it out in the ashtray. He let the poisonous nicotine linger in his lungs and throat for a little bit before exhaling, at the very same time lighting another. He enjoyed having conversations with people he didn't know - or rather, was trying to get to know. They helped get his mind running without making him revert to combat strategies and diplomacy to get the juices flowing instead. A simple conversation, a clash of ideologies and philosophies - he always enjoyed new perspectives.
"I can see where that question is coming from," the blond soldier finally said, leaning back against his chair again as he crossed his legs. He took a little while to continue speaking, taking the cigarette from his mouth and scratching his brow lazily. "It's a rather romantic concept, isn't it? For you to give it your all just to reach that precipice of greatness. To stand on top of something. To experience what nobody else has experienced before. To achieve something you've dreamed of your whole life, something you kept telling yourself was impossible. It's a noteworthy idea and dream, to be sure, but... let me ask you this, Igarashi-kun," he then turned to Ryuusei, his face a clear sign of a casual interest, yet his eyes clearly betrayed the fire of curiosity within the older male, "what's next? What's after that? Nothing. To achieve such a romantic dream, you have to sacrifice your life. You put your everything on the line, reach the height that nobody else has, and for a fleeting moment you feel like you've accomplished everything. Like you're leaving some kind of legacy behind. But... are you, really?"
"You leave a blueprint for somebody to follow and improve on. I think humanity, all throughout its meager existence, person to person, has been trying to build on the failures and successes of the people that came before. That's naturally how we grow, correct? And while I can respect the idea of giving all of yourself to one goal... is that really enough? It shouldn't be, if you ask me." The Lieutenant took another moment to take another silent drag from his cigarette, letting the younger male catch up with his train of thinking. "If you ask me you have to keep on going. There's always something more. Something greater that you can achieve. Icarus gave his life to reach the sun, and maybe he was happy about it when it happened, having no regrets of dying. But what do you think would run through his head if he realized that, a year, maybe ten or a hundred years later, somebody else could do the same and more without having to sacrifice their life? That's how I see it. You always have to stay hungry. Always have to improve. If somebody else is able to easily build on something you've achieved, have you really achieved everything you could? Or did you just throw away half of your potential because of a desire too great to reign in?"
The smile that spread on his face spoke volumes. It wasn't just one of happiness, content, or whatever the hell else one could think of. No, in this small exchange, it was more like a sign of trust, perhaps. Ryouta himself wouldn't comment if you were to ask him, but what the Lieutenant was saying through that facial expression alone would be obvious to anyone. You can reach that precipice and more. It was that unbreakable trust he showed people and their abilities that granted him the respect that he garnered in the military. Hideaki Ryouta was a man that was for the people. His job, as he himself put it, was to help make those around him better. And he had a very particular way of going about doing said job that made people naturally want to follow him... until they were strong enough to walk beside him.
After another pause, the Lieutenant removed the bandanna from his head, letting his wild blond locks reign rampant on top of his head. Fiddling with it in his hands as he left the cigarette in between his lips, he listened to the student's words, nodding in acknowledgement. "Rankings can be a good thing. They can show you where you are and where you need to improve. But they certainly aren't everything. Popularity, fame - it's all just a vanity fair. I'm sure you can agree that things of that nature are irrelevant yet from what I can see the current system is doing its best to promote it. The whole idea of hero schools feels like a PR stunt - a good one don't get me wrong; people with quirks need a better reputation if we want this discrimination to end. But the government is going about it as though they're trying to raise superstars. I just hope it doesn't go to their heads..." he smiled again, "at least I know it won't to you."
"It's not at all selfish, Igarashi-kun. Everyone needs their own path - a road map that only they can follow. Sure, you may get people who come along the ride, but at the end of the day your life is yours to live. How you choose to do so is up to you and nobody has the right to stop you from doing it. And if they do, you just have to be strong enough to do your own thing. If you're not? Become strong enough. Yes, I know that sounds just as romantic as what we just talked about, but I do believe it's true. Human potential has no limits provided we don't limit ourselves. The emergence of quirks - something we previously thought was just something you'd see in movies - is proof enough of that, wouldn't you say?"
"So now I want to ask you - what do you think feels right for you? Even if you can't answer the question, give me a vague idea. I know you've been struggling with it but I also know you've been thinking about it. So - hit me. What does a hero student who feels out of place want to do with his life?"

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
That canteen was actually pretty filthy. It was only natural though, being that the whole camp was rushingly set up in just a few days. Ryuusei hadn't been inside any other of the temporary buildings, but the scenario was most likely similiar to the one he faced at that moment. Just like the coffee he had just drank the food looked horrible. He could swear that the weird odor that went up his nostrils came from the weird looking fish that every other military man was having around him. Their face indicated that they were used to it. But liquids and solids weren't the only things that had a dirty look inside those four walls. The floor was filled with muddy footsteps, as if they were part of the already unclean floor by default; the walls look weak and, somehow, seemed to already have gained some mud; the cooks had a tired look on them, expressing how underpayed they probably were; little steps could be heard, not from humans but from cockroaches and rats who were quick to make that place their new home. However, it wasn't a feeling of depression that aired over the ceiling. No. Comrades laughed at each others jokes. New cadets being scolded by small things, but remaining with a sense of responsibility on their faces; older members of the forces joking with the young quirkers that were interested enough to see what that provisional camp was all about. Ryuusei was sure that most of the people inside that place were ruthless, trained killers who probably couldn't sleep at night with the thoughts of the burden they would forever carry with them. There were even probably one or two guys and girls that were purely evil, having joined the japanese military just in order to be able to legally kill other human beings. People who had regretted joining, people who had served for so many years that they could only think about leaving that hell; people that cutted ties with the outside world and people who cried every night thinking about their loves ones. But Ryuu could see clearly. In each of them, in each heart, in each soul, in each group that was being formed in that room, Ryuusei saw it: it was humanity in it's purest form. A whirlwind of emotions, of desires and meanings merging together... A storm of dreams, fates and destinies. And in the eye of that giant hurricane there he was, the man talking in front of Ryuu. It was like a light was shining through the hard ceiling, casting itself on Hideaki as he spoke. The young Quirker was listening carefully, his eyes meeting Ryouta's. There was a lot with which he agreed, some other that he would've to think about better... But everything was exactly what Ryuu wanted to hear, what he, in some way, needed to hear. As Hideaki removed his bandana, letting his hair flow free and continuing to speak over Ryuu's silence, the younger male was sure of one thing. So, this is what it's like... Instantly knowing you would follow someone, no matter what...It was like an angel that had descended from the clouds, captivating humans into his troops with only the gift of speech. It was what united all those inside that canteen, whether it would be around Hideaki or not. What kept the whirlwind moving forward, what kept all of those dreams alive... But there was nothing an angel could do if one of those humans was lured out by the devil himself. Follow? You follow no one.As Hideaki kept on speaking, so did that ominous voice inside Ryuu's mind. Your dream, your own dream. Choosing it over anyone, no matter the cost. Don't follow, use. He even just told you: become stronger.Yes. Yes. Perhaps that was the true Ryuusei. And perhaps that true, hidden, dark self was reflect on his quick response to Hideaki's last question. Achieve that dream without sacrificing my own life - he said, bringing back the Icarus topic with an interesting choice of words - Reaching the top and then creating a new one. Conquering that and then keep moving forward. A life with no regrets, a life that could only be lived by me... a life that trascends what life is. Not being held captive by my own dream, but instead making that same dream my prisoner. He paused for a seconds. Inhaling, exhaling. His honey coloured eyes meeting with Ryouta's blue ones once more. Even the older man would certainly feel it. Ryuu's smile spelt innocence, but his look... If that canteen was a whirlwind then the table where these two man where talking for the first time was at the center of an asteroid colliding against the earth's core; of an unstoppable will that burned inside Ryuu's eyes. A life that is mine and no one else's. That's what I want to do.Perhaps, a monster had just been awakened. Only time would tell for which side would he battle.... ... Or maybe he would create a completely new side. Yes... maybe that was the unknown dream of his. Notes: This was my favorite post to write since I' on the site!
