Having been coming to this little military camp on and off when she had the time to take a look at everything, Yumi decided to have a bit more potential fun today and headed over to the paintball range. She was still wearing the military cosplay she'd been wearing on the other days she'd been visiting, though because she was going into a paintball range, she was given a loose jacket to wear instead, it was made of a rough material that'd do better absorbing the impacts apparently, but she was told if she didn't mind them getting paint on them she could wear her pants and boots. She didn't, they were easy to watch, so overall thanks to the camo pattern of the jacket and the mask and goggles she was given, she still looked pretty fit for the military!~ "Did you have to wear that?" Yumi lifted her head up, just about to head into the room to get instructions when a strong looking woman stopped her. She lifted up her mask onto the top of her head, wondering what she meant. She was looking alright with the jacket? She looked over it, wondering if she picked up the wrong one, but before she could open her mouth to ask what was wrong the woman sighed loudly and gestured directly at her chest, making Yumi blush a little till she spoke. "I meant the costume underneath." "Huh...OH!" She must have seen her before she put the jacket on. Some people had admired the view, others had this sort of reaction, seeing it as a mockery, though she could see it in their eyes, this sergeant, judging by her stripes, wasn't one to hold back her opinions. Yumi gave a bright but nervous smile as she fiddled with her ponytail. "Ah, I er...I just thought it'd be fun i guess. maybe inspire the troops a little...?~" It seemed her words didn't get any positive reaction as she was given another heavy sigh, the woman waving her off, though as she headed to the front of the gathered volunteers to give them instructions, Yumi was sure she could hear her mutter- 'typical quirker. Taking nothing seriously...' Yumi's heart sank a little, she knew this place was open to try and get Quirkers interested in service, but weakly looking down to the paintgun she was holding, what little interest might have been building was shattered with ease, and she felt like she'd done even worse by leaving a bad mark on their opinions of quirk users. She was tempted to turn around and get changed when a sight caught her eye, rushing through the gathered people going into the paintball arena and smiling brightly at her VP. "Aleeeex!~ Fancy seeing you here! You gonna be on my team!?~"

Paintball was super fun, Alex had learned very quickly. They got to dress up in all sorts of cool gear, put up with a ton of cool weapons, and blast the hell out of each other with paint! He was awful at it, and while normally he wouldn’t like getting so dirty it definitely checked all the other boxes of stuff that he liked. He got to trash talk, he got that competitive rush, and he got to basically play dress up with all the cool gear and different gun types. It was like MEGA blocks, almost. You could mix and match and build a whole bunch of loadouts that were super cool!
He was dressed down from what he normally wore because he expected to get dirty, with just a dark synthetic fabric shirt and some thicker jeans underneath the paintball gear he was already wearing that was already covered with paint smears of varying colors. He was just waiting to go another round and cleaning off the mask he had taken off and was currently in his hands to be able to see clearly again.
A familiar voice cut through the crowd as he was cleaning, though, and red eyes looked up to see Yumi in what looked to be a dark blue jacket and some camouflage pants, tan combat boots, and a paintball helmet that indicated she was ready to go to war. The boy stared a little bit because this outfit seemed very un-Yumi, but quickly recovered and tossed his Class President a winning smile as he processed her words a bit later than most people. ”Sure, this’ll be my round three. Need to get the hose in there to get rid of the paint from the gear again, but I’d love some competent backup.”
He gestured with a shrug to the line in front of him, though. ”After the first day, it seems like the paintball arena is like the most popular part of the entire event. Even with multiple arenas, I’ve been seeing the same people spamming it the past few days.” he explained in a matter of fact tone. A smirk started spreading across his features, though, as he remembered he could get some juicy gossip out of his wonderful Class President. Not for any ammo against her, of course, just for sheer curiosity because out of everyone in Class 1-C, Alex was definitely in the running for biggest gossip.
”So, have any luck with Jasmine the past couple of days? I bet this sort of event would be right up her alley, right?” the smirk had evolved into a shit eating grin at this point, and his red eyes were as filled with amusement as his tone as he matched the amber gaze of his classmate. Gossip was fun, but relationship gossip was oh so much juicer than just normal gossip. If someone did something really dumb, of course he wanted to hear about it… but relationship stuff was useful for much longer and was a great way to really get the pulse of what was happening in the class. Plus, it was super fun to learn about everyone else's lives along the way.

Taking in Alex's smile, one she felt fitted him fairly well, and one she felt she tended to get when he was going into something with the idea of winning, like that time they'd played the dancing gave at the sadly poorly attended 1 C party. Of course, she had no idea if he was on a winning streek or not from his words, but she was gonna guess so. Alex put on such a strong, confident vibe half the time that Yumi was just sure that he'd been putting his skills to use in this little pretend battlefield and putting on a win. Of course, Yumi was here to have fun, but winning could definitely be fun!~ "Oh I dunno about competent, but my aim's been getting better ever since I've been using my new hero suit!~" This was true, she was no marksman but with her own quirk and some other things by expansion, her aim had been getting better and better!~ She made sure her gun was still all in working order, shooting it with the safety on so no paintballs fired and instead a clacking puff of air shot out the barrel. "Ready and waiting for orders sarge!~" She clapped her heels together and saluted with her gun resting against her shoulder, jolting and lowering her gun as some soft sounds behind her signified a few paintballs falling out of the cannister atop the gun. "Woops..." Looking back to Alex as he talked about the popularity of the section, she smirked and shook her head. Of course it was popular, afterall it was free paintball with some light quirk allowances. of course something like Yumi's quirk wasn't too easy to utilize in the situation, as the rules deemed the potential damage it could do a bit too ruthless for a fun game of paintball, but she imagined someone like Alex must have realized by now he could make cover or stuff with his shadow quirk!~ if he hadn't, it'd definitely be one of Yumi's first suggestions. "A quirks allowed game of paintball pretty much for free for 2 whole weeks?~ I bet a few people cashed in their holiday days to be here!~" She gave a bright grin, pretty sure she'd visit this place more than once herself before the base closed. She shifted with Alex to focus on the shrinking line, but the comment about Jaz surprised her. It wasn't exactly a secret the two were dating, but it was perhaps a little less obvious that Jaz was the only one of Yumi's 'buddies' she was actually dating. "Oh, I actually ran into her by accident the other day. We randomly got matched up for a sparring match where they were examining quirks here. I was gonna think about inviting her one day anyway, but damn, I learned the hard way she will not go easy on me." She snickered a little as she realized that could be taken two ways, but said no more on it, moving up with the line, counting the heads ahead of them and pretty sure they'd be in the next group to go. "How about you...?~" She decided to be bold, leaning over his shoulder, and whispering cheekily. "You gonna splat Aki with some paint this time?~"

”Yeah, my aim is getting pretty solid. I’ve just been spamming games of this over and over for the past few days. The dodging part is much harder, I haven’t got the hang of looking in the right direction all the time just yet.” he rambled on excitedly, jumping up and down a bit both in excitement and to get a better look at how long the line was in front of him because the guy in front of him was taller than he was.
He laughed when Yumi’s salute caused some of the paintballs to fall out of her gun. ”Maybe that’s why they don’t salute in combat.” he remarked, his tone back to being amused. His grin continued as he nodded along to her explanation as to why the paintball arena was so popular until she got to the part of quirks being allowed. ”Fuck!” he muttered under his breath. ”In Elise’s games on Day 1 there weren’t any quirks allowed, so I haven’t been using mine at all. I didn’t realize that the rules were different when I came back for other rounds. I kind of just assumed the ones who did were cheating, dang.” he explained, a bit of irritation seeping into his voice and the grin fading as quickly as it came.
When the conversation moved to Jaz, however, it returned almost immediately. Alex actually liked Jaz, so was more than happy to good naturedly tease Yumi about their relationship. After all, it wasn’t exactly a secret and she didn’t seem to mind. ”Did she at least kiss the bruises she gave you in the sparring session to make them feel better?” he teased, ”Her quirk would be super rough to spar against, but yours is too. I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.” he continued, less teasing and more encouraging this time. Yumi definitely had one of the stronger quirks in the class, but Jaz arguably had the strongest quirk in the entire school. There was a gap, but it didn’t seem like that much of a gap because the American didn’t know of any defense the blonde juggernaut had against ten million volts or whatever huge number Yumi could put out. Whatever it was, he knew it was a lot and ten million sounded like a good number in his head to represent a lot.
At the mention of Aki and splatting, the veneer of confidence melted away in an instant and his face turned red in embarrassment. ”I don’t---Ugh! Of course she told you!” he blurted out, moving forwards so they weren’t physically touching anymore. ”That was an accident, okay? Plus, we were teammates the other day in paintball. I didn’t splat any paint or anything else onto her!” he continued, his tone obviously flustered in a way that Yumi had likely never seen before. She had, to his knowledge, only seen the overly cocky side of the American in person and the aggressive side sometimes in U.A. chats. This red faced, shallower breathing, avoiding eye contact Alex was a much different animal that only really seemed to come out when Aki was involved somehow.

She narrowed her eyes back at him with the tease about how she'd dropped the amo, but felt the surprise of quirk usage was it's own weird sense of payback right now as Alex must have been kicking himself for not realizing. Honestly she was surprised to hear quirks hadn't been allowed day one, the base was open to invite quirkers and their abilities to join the army so she thought they'd be wanting to examine what they could do. Guess that might have been why that sergeant was so pissy, already seemed to be a quirk hater, and now she had to watch a bunch of them 'cheat' by using their powers. That is what a lot of people with no brains didn't consider it. Cheating. Assholes.
"Yeah, It's pretty limited, something like mine isn't allowed, but yours should be fine!~ I'd just describe your quirk to a moderator on the way in as a double check or something, I dunno." She gave a light shrug and started moving up as the line did, the guy running the game dividing up the groups, but asking for people to say if they were with anyone so they either got purposely split up if they wanted to fight, or kept together if they wanted to team up. Yumi pulled her mask down to get ready, her voice now just a little muffled through the mask.
"Oh shut up...I mean maybe she did, but shut up." She lightly jabbed his arm with the butt of her gun, not hard enough to hurt or anything of course, moving with him into one of the groups as they were lead to their individual starting points. "I dunno why everyone thinks my quirk is strong anyway. I mean, maybe? But I need a suit to even get a measure of control over it...maybe one day when I can control the output but I doubt that'll even be possible. Right now I'm kinda like a one shot wonder without my suit, and even with it, I've got a time limit till I just run out of juice..." She shrugged it off, just not getting the fuss about her own quirk, but maybe Alex could tell her otherwise.
As for the Aki stuff...she smirked deviously for a moment, like she was about to tease him mecilessly, but instead she broke into giggles and shoved his arm again. "Dude lighten up. You must know what I get up to by now. You think you're the only one to cream your pants with a girl?~" She shrugged with a smile and added. "I mean of course I havn't, but I know for sure you're not the only one, if you know what I mean.~" She leaned into his side as they walked, looking up to his eyes with a playful tone. "Look so long as you don't actually hurt her, I ain't gonna mind what you do. Aki's a pretty impressionable girl, but she's open too. So long as she dosn't come home to me crying, I don't mind having to explain why you made a weird face and jerked your hips on her~"

He laughed at his classmate’s response at the mention of Jaz, but tilted his head in confusion when she mentioned she didn’t think her quirk was strong. That was absurd to him, because he always considered it on the level of Darren’s, Naoru’s, and maybe Kutsu’s and his own within their class at the highest tier. ”Does massive electrical discharge like lightning not sound powerful to you? You’re basically like a human … what do you call the metal things on the farms with the chicken that catch lightning? Those things! Plus, even if you need a suit to use your power at least you were smart enough of a way to shore up your weaknesses with your quirk. Being like a human—lightningrod, that was it!—is definitely super powerful and I don’t know how you could argue otherwise, honestly.”
The Aki comments still rattled him, despite the redhead’s reassurances. It was almost comical how the mere mention of the event could fluster him so much, especially compared to his usual state of self-assured cockiness to the extreme. ”Pfft, if anything I’m much more likely to come home crying because of something she did.” he scoffed, recovering his composure bit by bit. ”And by the way, she started it, for the record. Those things don’t just happen by themselves, you know.” he added as a weak defense if there ever was one. He realized it, too, because suddenly he was super focused on scraping the paint off of his gear with his quirk. Yumi might be sure enough of herself to shake off the teasing about Jaz, but the same was not true for Alex in regards to Aki.
Thankfully, the line had cleared up enough that they were the next ones called. The person letting the teams let the two guys in front of them in one side and the dynamic duo from Class 1-C in on the other side to the equipment area. Once there, Alex ditched his rifle in favor of two machine pistols that were fed by magazine and looked over to Yumi with a giddy grin that almost split his face in two. ”I’ve never tried these out before. These are fully automatic I think. The last group I faced had one of these, but two? Today is my lucky day.” he almost yelped in pure giddiness. He just got access to some new toys, and they were super cool toys to boot. ”We’re gonna smash these nerds.” he continued, bouncing from side to side as he filled up the magazines with paintballs and slapped those suckers in. Once he was done with that, he slipped on his paintball mask and picked up both machine pistols with that wide grin still plastered across his face.
”Let me know when you’re ready, and we’ll go out guns blazing.” he stated with all the confidence in the world, pretending like him being beet red in the face and flustered as hell didn’t just happen thirty seconds ago. ”We’ll go out and roll them real quick and go again against a team who doesn’t suck quite as much, sound good?”

Yumi rolled her eyes a little as Alex explained what he was seeing. She was gonna jump in with the answer to his question but he answered it himself before she could get out an answer. She wasn't really a lightning rod at all really, she was a human tesla coil...she thought that was the right thing? What was the name of one of those...balls with the electricity shooting inside of it and it followed your fingers around the sphere? Yeah fuck it she didn't know either but she wasn't gonna push the idea either. "Look I get it, sparky shit is good just...it relies on me actually having any damn control. Imagine like...if Jaz could explode outward once a day? Thats my shit without my suit, except i probably do even less damage." She shrugged casually, not gonna fight him over it. She could admit, on a fundamental level her quirk had potential, but the way she couldn't control it had been something she'd dealt with a good portion of her life now, moving from simply static charging people to full on shocking them to her core, so trying to say it was a 'good quirk' was a hard thing for her to do at the end of the day.
With Alex's version of events, she shook her head with a chuckle. "Oh don't worry, I know you're a good boy, and er...maybe I taught Aki how to be friends with people a little too well, so I'm sure I'm a little to blame here." She offered him a more genuine, reassuring smile, and rested into his side a little as they got to their team's starting location. "If she hurts you, or you accidentally hurt her, just talk to me okay? I ain't exactly gonna bite and...Aki's a sweetheart. I wanna see her do okay at this place, with all kinds of relationships."
Pulling off alex as things were starting up, she watched Alex swap out guns, but she looked to her own, tilting it around in her hands and shrugging. It was her first time, so she was pretty sure she'd do okay with this for a first run. Maybe play it like she did splatoon, stick with what everyone started with, and when she had a handle of the 'controls' she'd switch to something a little more risky and dangerous. "I hope you can handle the power there, I'll give you some decent back up if I can!~ Lets kick some weeabooty!~" She lifted her gun into the ear with a smirk, considering herself an anime nerd but fuck she was proud of that pun.
Lowering herself forward, she got into a stance similar to how she'd start a fight in her super hero suit, one knee bent, one stretched back, and one touching the floor, ready to rush out onto the field and dart low for the nearest ccover, her gun tucked into her side. "I'll head as far as I can as fast as I can, really dig us into the middle of the field! Ready if you are!~"

”I mean, I guess I’m a bit biased. I’m the like the opposite of you quirk-wise right now,” the American responded to his classmate’s tepid response to him talking up her own quirk. ”I have all the control in the world but shit for power. Plus, comparing yourself to Jaz blowing herself up once a day to sound weak doesn’t exactly work. God, if I could make explosions which my quirk I wouldn’t complain about anything ever again.” he continued, letting excitement and a bit of envy creep into his voice maybe a bit too much before he recovered enough to joke: ”Plus, if heroing doesn’t work out for you, I’m sure you could get a job at the power company no sweat.”
Alex reacted so instantly to physical contact with the girl there was no way it wasn’t intentional. It was almost like he was avoiding physical contact with her with the way he immediately pulled away, and that was because he absolutely was. It wasn’t anything against Yumi, in fact the American rather got along with Yumi normally and would far prefer to be interacting with her than a lot of other students who were more boring or more abrasive. He just wasn’t a touchy feely sort of person to begin with, and that kind of doubled when it came to people he didn’t know well. There were situations where he didn’t mind personal contact, sure, but since the subject was the woman he was supposed to be in a relationship he was even more squirrely about it than usual.
”Thanks, I really do appreciate that Yumi. Hopefully things go well enough to where it’s not needed, but I really do appreciate the offer.” he responded with a tone that was a lot warmer than what usually came out of his mouth. Friendliness and actual thankfulness were almost foreign sounds, coming from someone like him.
When they got inside, though, it was all fun and games almost instantly. When his Class Rep commented that she hoped the American could handle the power of the machine pistols, the boy audibly scoffed. ”Just watch me. You don’t need accuracy if you just cover the entire area with paint.” he retorted, confidently. He was so confident in his own abilities that he forgot to even bring any extra magazines for the machine pistols, mostly because he plum forgot.
When Yumi said her initial strategy, a confident grin spread across the delinquent’s face almost immediately. ”Sounds good. Once the buzzer rings—“ he started, but was interrupted by the sound of the buzzer going off to indicate the start of the match. ”Let’s go!” Alex barked as the gates in front of them opened and he started his mad dash to the center of the arena, pistols in hand. He felt like a real gosh darn super soldier with this getup, and was more than ready to spray whatever fool was dumb enough to jump out in front of him and paint the whole damn forest all the colors of the rainbow in his quest for victory.

"...Dude." She scoffed a little at the idea his quirk wasn't powerful, the very concept of it was mind boggling to say the least, and if HER quirk had potential she feared to fucking think what his skill could do when he got stronger. "You make shit...from the absence of light. You literally make SOMETHING from NOTHING. Like how does that even work? You make shit happen where shit wouldn't be how does that even compute? God looks at the coding of reality, sees you, and goes 'shit I really fucked up there and I'm too afraid to touch it. Let's just hope he dosn't turn evil'." She smirked a little, showing she meant that more as encouragement than a put down, just...yeah. How was his quirk at all weak from concept alone. "I mean you can make a chair wherever you want, im sure when you get even better you could make a damn shadow gun when you wanted, heck i can zap people you can do everything else from A to Z." She gave him a light jab again, and smirked. "Don't put yourself down, you're a 1-Champion now.~"
She smirked wider as she teased him for his VP slogan.
Felling him pull away from her lean, she caught her balance and looked to him a little surprised. Oh wow, the first non-cuddly person she'd came across. Alright, good to know. She smiled to show she didn't mind him dodging the cuddle and just moved on as they continued to talk, nodding to his words, but majorly getting herself in the zone now. Ever since she'd started developing her quirk and her physical skills...she couldn't lie, maybe she was getting a bit of a competitive streak in her now too...
When the buzzer rang, Yumi dashed out, her body low. She didn't have the advantage of her hover boots carrying her weight like with her hero suit, but she was still pretty damn fast. No olympic level but her recent exercize had really done something for her natural stamina and speed. Keeping herself low also helped the illusion that she was a speedy little bugger, and as most of their team stopped early to find a good piece of cover, Yumi kept running, hopefully with Alex behind her, dropping to her knees as a few wooden locks making cover came up infront of them, her knees caked in the sloppy mud that had been worn down by so many other games of paint fueled way, and turning her side into the cover, feeling they'd taken the front lead on their team, and peering out from the side of the cover just to watch a yellow paintball skim infront of the eyes of her mask and pull her head right back in, back pressed against the cover.
"Ooookay mister shadow...I'm pretty sure I get one shot of my quirk and im disqualified...what with it burning through all my clothes...you got a plan now that we're up in the face of enemy lines?~"

The paintball arena itself, or at least this one was a forest simulation with a bunch of artificial trees and branches and a lot of dirt and grass dumped in. He didn’t know how much this arena cost, but it was probably a pretty penny and was easily his favorite arena to go to war in because of it. It was the best quality arena by far in his opinion because they had put such a ludicrous amount of effort into making it perfect. Keeping up with Yumi was a challenge, mostly because the American wasn’t what one might consider mobile but he managed to at least keep her in his line of sight as they ran. Alex was strong, sure, but he wasn’t exactly ever known for his speed. He didn’t have any quirk enhancements that really helped him out in that regard, and honestly while he was pretty athletic in general the speed part had always eluded him.
”Of course I have a strategy.” were the first words out of his mouth when Yumi asked if he had a plan. He didn’t have one, of course, because he was too giddy about the discovery of the machine pistols to really think properly. What he lacked in brains, though, he made up for in decisiveness. ”All right, we’re split up. You go right, I go left. I’ll go loud and draw some attention. You swing in behind and pop ‘em. You’re quieter than I am I bet, and I’m better off front lining with these anyways. We can finish this off pretty quickly if I can draw enough attention.”
Without waiting for a response, Alex put that plan into motion. ”Ready? Go.” he whispered, before bolting up from their cover and firing a paintball up in the air and generally stomping on different branches and bits and pieces of the field and being as generally loud and obnoxious as possible. He let out a couple of hoots and hollers alongside the stomping, too, to draw attention. Sure enough, within about ten seconds of starting running and being obnoxious a paintball splat on a tree right next to Alex and the American immediately ducked for cover behind a tree.
”Nice try, fuckhead!” he yelled out to the wilderness. ”Better luck next time!” he yelled out again as the area around him started to be pelted with paintballs. They were blind firing in his direction, good. That meant Yumi might be able to get a flank off if he just held position and kept their attention. He reached out with his quirk to smash a few branches around him and generally be loud, which prompted another round of paintball pellets to be fired in his direction. It was too many to be fired by one rifle, so he was definitely holding the attention of both of his opponents at least for the moment. His job was exceptionally simple from this point forward, stall for time while the Class President swooped in the back and kicked some ass.
Fantastic.

Go in round the back huh? She was usually pretty eye catching, though in her head she meant in terms of her quirk it still counted even without it...though honestly with this big jacket to catch the paint she could probably work with the natural covering to her advantage in a weird way and not be so eye catching for a change. She might have suggested Alex at least make a shadow body-armor or something, assuming he could even do that, but he was already moving out, her brain so focused on the plan she'd actually missed him say go for a second! Hearing him holler, she twisted on her knee and started darting around the side. Right now they were just dealing with two opponents, so if she could get around them and get a good shot...!
She stuck to the low covers and the artificial trees, cutting between them with sharp darts of motion that made her subconciously compare herself to Darren, pushing through to get behind them just as Alex was probably starting to feel the heat. Unlike him, she lined up her shot carefully as she got close, creeping up behind them and firing off her first shot, the first opponent feeling a sharp sting to the back of his head and falling forward as he was knocked out of the game, catching the attention of his companion just as Yumi fired off her second shot. Sadly she couldn't afford the time to line it up this time, and quickly find herself raising her hands on the bad end of the second shooters paintball gun, her eyes darting towards the shadow master behind the gun wielder before her, shouting his name almost like she could FEEL this guys finger pulling on the trigger in slow motion.
"ANYTIME ALEX!!"

Pinned down behind enemy lines. Paintballs going left and right, one lone man stood against the tide of evil as it passed through Japan. That one man’s name was Alex Deraine, and so focused was he on mentally narrating the scene unfolding before him that he didn’t notice when the shooting stopped around him until he heard his classmate yell out for assistance. He reacted quickly but not smartly, running out from the back of the tree with both machine pistols pointed forward and he started firing as soon as he attained visual contact with both enemies, not seeing that one of them had already been tagged by Yumi before this had all happened. All he saw was one goon faced towards him and one goon faced away, and he opened fire and held down the trigger for both pistols to make a hose of paintballs fire out from the suckers towards their foes.
Unfortunately for Yumi, Alex had very little control over where the paint pellets actually landed. He knew the recoil would be a lot, but what ended up happening was that he ended up just emptying both magazines in the general direction of his opponent, his partner, and Yumi. He couldn’t see Yumi past the back of the dude aiming at her, but he had littered the entire area with paint by the time he had actually emptied his magazines of paintballs. He continued pulling the triggers of both machine pistols for several seconds after they were empty, the incident just being the brain lag from the actual clicking noise signifying he was out of ammo to the realization of that fact. He was too busy staring at the pretty splatter that he made all over his opponents and the surrounding area.
”Oops.” he muttered under his breath as his brain caught up and registered the immense amount of paint everywhere. There was overkill, and then there was this. ”Sorry!” he yelled out, but his tone was more excited than sorry. He had just unloaded like forty paintballs over those fools! That felt awesome! He was like Rambo in this old war movies or like a super soldier in one of the Call of Battle games running out at super speed to take out enemies. What was that, a double kill? Fantastic! Now all he needed was some more ammo and he could do that again! He didn’t have any paint on him at all, he was completely unscathed!

Yumi yelped as she felt a sudden flurry of stings against her front. She thought she was getting shot by the opponent she'd been caught off guard by, but the paint was fired way too fast and there was a weird gap before she suddenly got sprayed again. No one would be this merciless when she had her hands up right!? And they had Alex to think about so why were they wasting all their ammo on her!? It was only when the clacking sound of fired paintball shots was replaced by the clicks of an empty gun that Yumi realized what had happened, slowly looking down at her paint splattered jacket and glaring back at Alex from behind the shaded goggles of her protective mask, her hands still up in the air as she just gave him a look. You know the look. Half glare. Half disbelief. That one burning through both their masks right into, and through, his head. "Really VP?" The mix of red, blue, yellow and green on her front and the faint stinging sensation in her tight stomache was hard to ignore, but all the same a soft blaring sound filled the arena, Yumi lowering her arms as one of the soldiers running the games declared that Yumi and Alex were the winners. Her gun had only fired two shots while Alex had unloaded at least a tenth of his clips onto her, nodding her head towards the entrance of the arena and resting her gun on her shoulder, one of the losing side throwing his gun in the mud and cursing very loudly, only to quickly get dragged off by a soldier way bigger than him for damaging their equipment. "Soooo...I can get you might have been distracted...but that was a damn easy shot and I'm FAIRLY sure they covered collatoral damage the first week of school." She gave him a sharp elbow before starting to unzip her jacket, letting Alex finally see the Camo bikini top she'd approached the military base in today, gently shifting the sides of her jacket apart as she checked her stomache for forming bruises.

”Oops.” he repeated with a lot more actual regret in his tone now that he saw how much he had hit Yumi with his spray and pray ‘tactic’ that he used. ”Sorry, Yumi.” he said as he jogged up to check up to make sure she wasn’t actually hurt or anything. Despite himself, when she unzipped her jacket for a few seconds he reverted to full dog mode and did absolutely nothing but stare with his mouth open because he was going to say something else that he forgot almost instantly. Only Yumi would show up to play paintball in that. Almost anybody else, including himself, would go with some sort of protection. Hell, Alex had even armored up with stuff off the paintball wall on top of having thicker clothes than usual. There were times to flaunt your stuff, but this seemed like a very poor time to do so for the exact reason she was checking her stomach right now – bruises!
His jaw went shut as the thoughts about just how impractical her outfit was outweighed how great she looked in it. The American immediately felt guilty for staring, probably more than he should have. ”Sorry.” he muttered again as he turned back towards the equipment and staging area. ”I’ll be able to get that paint off your jacket real quick, at least.” he said over his shoulder as he started a slow jog back to that area to both metaphorically and physically run from any potential problems his staring might have caused. He needed to learn how not to devolve into a goddamn chimpanzee every time he saw a pretty girl flaunting their stuff, especially now that things were a lot more complicated in his life! Was he even allowed to stare at pretty girls anymore? It was all so unclear and confusing!
As he jogged, he took the two machine pistols in front of him and examined them. Hmm. The paintballs seemed to run out faster than he thought and he didn’t seem to have any control over them at all. Maybe it would be better for him to swap weapons, because like Yumi said he basically went full monkey mode with the things that last round. He decided he would get a rifle, and it didn’t take long for him to hit the gates of the equipment area and ditch the machine pistols that had won them the round but also injured his teammate. That wasn’t exactly ideal, especially because paintball would end eventually but he had to sit near Yumi for the next three years. Pissing her off because he couldn’t aim straight was probably not the best idea for his long term health or happiness. Yumi was Aki’s roommate, after all, and such a powerful position made her a force to be reckoned with. Damn near half of the wildling’s stories at first started with ‘Yumi said…’ this or ‘Yumi and I…’ did that. It was clear she had an insane influence on how the girl saw the world, and if he made an enemy of his Class President he was basically fucked. He would definitely swap to a rifle, because he could control it way more than the machine pistols, it was decided. Not because he wanted to, but because he wanted to not die a violent death in the next few weeks.
So instead of the machine pistols, grabbed one of the magazine fed paintball rifles. Mostly because it looked the most like an actual rifle more than the others and he thought it looked really cool. He grabbed a few magazines and filled them with ammo as he was actually bouncing a bit with excitement at the prospect of firing the thing again – this was the rifle that he had used in his first day of paintball here or at least the same model and it seemed to work well then so why not now? Once he was done filling the magazines he got a bandolier to stuff the extra magazines into and a sling for the rifle. Why a sling? It looked cool as shit, for one, and for seconds it let him run a bit without carrying the damn rifle in his hands all the time so he grabbed a one point sling for the road.

As Alex apologized not once but twice, presumably for the same reason from Yumi's perspective, she gently shifted her chest to get a better look at her stomache, even having to pull her shoulders back and her hips forward to get a better angle on herself. "Its fine don't worry about it." Patting her stomache down, proving a bit of a mark she'd seen was just dust from the inside of the borrowed jacket, she left the item of clothing open as she moved herself forward to the rest area again, only just noticing Alex had sped off ahead of her so she couldn't even tell him he was all good for the accidental friendly fire. She just assumed he was eager to get a reload for whatever the next round had in store, rather than avoiding her.
She herself, she left her jacket open, and was going to unless someone told her off for it. She just felt more free like that. When she caught up to Alex she nudged his back to get his attention. "Don't worry about it getting clean, I'm just borrowing it. So long as the guys watching the match notice I've already got some on me they'll just have to look out for what new splats happen. Thats how most paintball places manage it afterall. Can't clean every outfit after every match afterall.~" She offered a soft smile, but assuming he was still avoiding trying to look at her, she'd frown just a little soon after and turn her eyes to the desk full of options infront of her. If she understood right there was kind of a 'point' system to what you could bring, so while she'd gone in with just a rifle before to get a feel, now she could see what she wanted to 'spend' her points on.
While Alex was going for ammo, Yumi decided to go a little more defensive, she smirked as she looked to a riot shield type item off to the side. She headed over to grab it and picked up a paint-grenade like item and a small hand-pistol. Best case it probably had 10 shots in it, but Yumi felt with her luck she was more looking at something holding 5. If she was gonna be the kamikaze troop of their team she was at least gonna have the defenses to back it up.
With a smirk she was about ready to face their next opponent when a call from one of the base's soldiers caught her attention. "Alright Boys and Girls listen up!" He called out, stomping a foot, trying to be serious but it was clear he had a bit of a grin on him. Yumi started to notice they weren't the only ones in this rest area right now and some others were picking new loadouts as well. "We're gonna be taking all you lucky fellas who just won and setting you up in a team? Sound good!? Good!~ The 6 of you who run, get ready! When the buzzer sounds your off!"
Yumi smirked a little, big teams huh? That'd be fun. She'd probably be the first out but it sounded like a fun hectic mess to watch all the same. "Heh, sounds pretty fun!~ Watcha think alex?"
