A shiver of satisfaction ran through Goro’s whole body as his foot crashed into Nick’s face. Finally, with Nick’s armour gone, he could see every bit of pain etched into his face, and it was a sight Goro had waited years to behold. He could barely feel any of the bruises that covered his body by now.
With all the adrenaline now pumping through him, the only response Goro could find to Nick’s snarling was laughter. It wasn’t loud, but it was still hard to stop all the same. Nick was clearly too tired now, at the moment he was all bark and no bite.
“Yes. I do.” He managed to finally respond when he stopped laughing. “Much better. You obviously aren’t, though.”
Nick still managing to stand back up was a surprise. However, he looked like he could be pushed over with a light breeze at this point, and if Goro had the freedom to do so he’d want to test that.
Nick started ranting again, and Goro snorted derisively and turned away. “You’re saying things like that, but one of us clearly lost here and it wasn’t me. If you moved beyond me, surely killing me would be no problem for you. And yet, here we are.” The answer Nick had given much to go on, certainly not sufficient as a report back to Mother, but his reaction to his own words was certainly interesting. However, it was pretty obvious he wasn’t going to elaborate, and if Goro tried to force it out of him it’d probably just leave Nick unconscious instead. “Mother probably won’t accept that explanation alone. But if she decides you need to be punished again for that, that’s not my fault.”
He turned to leave, stopping when Nick finished speaking. “A dream like that is laughable, when you wouldn’t belong there. If I’m a weakling, what does that make you?” He didn’t give Nick time to respond before taking off, a little wobbly from the injury on his wing but still stable enough.
