Finally, the weekend had arrived, the weekend she had so looked forward to, and yet despite the joyous occasion, she should feel at this event Elise was left with mixed feelings. There was happiness, there was no doubt about that but Elise found herself also haunted by something else. The last few days had been eventful for sure, she had been unfair and cruel to her most beloved person, and yet in the wake, the cruelty came back to bite her: Never did Tetsuko tell her that the feelings she felt were 'love', nor did she properly tell Elise that she loved her.
To then, during her recent encounter with Rin, to be forced to recall the memories of what she said and did in her drunken stupor? It left her feeling conflicted. The words that came afterward, the feelings that were conveyed. A hand raised to her purse, pulling out a small piece of paper. She had prepared everything, everything was perfectly planned for their date, or rather Operation: Make Tetsuko realize the difference between Love and Friendship
She needed to know, she needed to make sure that the feelings Tetsuko held toward her were those of love. To just ask her on the spot wouldn't work, it would be almost akin to the time she forced a drugged Tetsuko to come to terms with her feelings. But no matter what happened, Elise knew she loved Tetsuko immensely, and it was because of that love that she needed to act, that she needed to come to an answer.
But she also needed to be honest, she needed to tell Tetsuko of that day and try to get a proper response from the girl. Fortunately, Elise had an idea, a plan of sorts that would surely make Tetsuko able to convey her emotions clearly to Elise. A hand raised to her forehead, her palm lifted upwards to give her face a bit of shade the girl tried to think, to think about what to do. But perhaps she would do what she had always done: act with her heart rather than her mind.
Now she just needed to wait for Tetsuko to come outside and for them to depart to Tokyo~

To what extent could one truly understand their own heart?
All Tetsuko even knew of her own heart was that it was a volatile and fickle thing, far from immovable, far from steady and strong. And for that reason, she'd always feared her strongest emotions. But people couldn't truly live, not for long at least, without facing their fears. One way or another, she had to wade into the waters before her, into the foggy depths of that bundle of mysteries they called 'the heart'.
Was it possible to ever truly comprehend the way it ebbed and flowed, swelled and shrunk, burst and broke? Or was Tetsuko Shindou doomed be a slave to the heart she feared, the heart she suppressed? Those questions had troubled the swordswoman ever since that fateful day. When she'd been cruelly forced to acknowledge the powerful feelings that terrified her, to unleash the potentially romantic attraction she had toward her childhood friend...
Had everything changed? Or had it been this way all along? The embrace they shared, tearful and gentle, told Tetsuko that no matter what, she cared so very deeply for Elise von Eisenberg, friend or lover, it didn't change that. But there was so much more to that affection that remained unexplored, little things like the way Elise's smile made her heart skip a beat, or the way a simple glance of Elise's fair skin and elegant figure sent flares of heat through her body. There was so much more... And Elise called the sum of these strange sensations 'love'.
What even was 'love'? It was a powerful, and serious word. Not something to be used lightly, but how was she even supposed to define it? These were questions Tetsuko was desperate to answer; terrified to answer. But she had to find out, one way or another. Things couldn't simply remain 'normal' anymore. Elise, though well-intentioned, had unfairly made sure of that.
With a deep breath, Tetsuko set off to meet her date. In spite of her reservations and hesitance, she was still looking forward to this, to spending time away from the other, less hormonal stresses in their lives. No matter what happened, she'd always hold Eli as her most important person. And, if she was to admit it... Tetsuko really did feel such an indescribable happiness in being able to call Eli her lover.
Spotting the Germanic lass outside, she was quick to walk up to her, a pitter-patter in her chest as she approached. "Yo, Eli!" She called out in her usual chipper tone, walking up to the beautiful girl. It was funny, she really did seem to look so different to Tetsuko, even if nothing had really changed... Aside from, perhaps, her own perspective.
"You... Look good..." The iron-blooded girl stammered out, a reddening in her cheeks as she awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. Affection, desire, love, so many things to delve into that weekend, only time would tell what the two explorers discovered in the unfathomable depths of their own hearts.

The feelings within her heart were complex, and yet she couldn't help but feel that they were necessary. Elise Von Eisenberg was an emotional girl, and her feelings were one of the things that empowered her. As she adjusted the hat of her summer dress lightly a sudden voice called out to her, a voice that was so familiar, one that brought her hope and joy. A light spin on the ball of her heels following as she faced the source of the voice that brought her so much happiness. Just like she had anticipated Tetsuko had arrived, making Elise raise a hand and make a gentle wave at her. "Good morning Tetsu~" she greet her with a smile, yet the words that followed were quite endearing. The reddening in Tetsuko's cheeks, it made her feel rather chipper. it even brought her into a teasing mood.
"Oh mai~ Complimenting me right away, it seems someone has been practicing~" She answered in faux disbelief before she giggled softly, a little poke of her tongue following before she grinned in return. "Thank you for the compliment~ You look quite nice yourself~" She replied with a soft hum, taking a step to Tetsuko's side and wrapping her arm around Tetsuko's own, her fingers interlacing with the girl's own. "Let's head to the train station shall we?"
After all, they still had quite a journey to make. But it was a journey they had to take. A trip away from the stressful events at the academy, a weekend for them to discover the unfathomable depths of their own hearts and the feelings lurking within.

The trials of youth only made their hearts more difficult to understand. Tetsuko had always, ever since first laying eyes on Elise, thought her to be an exotic and pretty girl, almost enviably so. Yet, as time had gone on, and they'd grown from their childish selves, Eli had become something more... Desirable. That itself was a whole other level of her heart for Tetsuko to brave, and certainly not one she was remotely ready to explore just yet.
All she knew was that seeing Elise there, elegant and lithe as ever in that Summer dress, made her heart flutter in her chest. It was funny, even if the Shindou girl hadn't the foggiest idea how to control her heart, Eli seemed to be more than capable of making it dance. Even more so when she took the ripe opportunities to tease the poor Shindou girl. Tetsuko could only blush harder and rub the back of her head, thinking to herself that there was no way that embarrassed outburst of her inner thoughts was in anyway practiced.
Of course, Eli returned the compliment, though Tetsuko hardly believed it. Surely the Germanic lass didn't find her boyish features and manner of dress that attractive, right? "Th-Thanks..." The swordswoman stammered out nonetheless, entirely unable to hide the wide dumb grin on her face. Just cause Eli said she looked nice.
Her heart really was a strange thing.
It pulsed with warmth as Eli took her hand, fingers interlaced in a position they'd been in before. Only now did the full affection of the gesture flow through, however. "Yeah, let's go." Tetsuko affirmed, clutching Eli's hand firmly as she walked along toward the station. They'd quite the journey ahead of them, and Tetsuko could not help but have her mind wander to that dream she'd had. The familiar spirit was right, it wasn't as scary if you just waded in first. Especially with someone to guide you.

The trip to the train station didn't take long, and with them having booked the trip in advance they didn't need to worry about waiting in a long line either. As the train finally arrived and they boarded it Elise saw an opportunity to talk for a bit, especially once they took their seat side by side.
"It's fortunate we're having nice weather this weekend~" An easy but effective way to start their conversation but she soon decided to focus on the actual subject. "Tetsu..." She began, a short pause as she looked at the girl with that tender gaze of hers. "I'm sorry." Her fingers gently squeezed Tetsuko's hand as she continued. "It must have been hard on you, being forced to come to recognize your feelings in such a cruel way, especially when you were vulnerable by the drug."
It was an unfair and cruel method for sure, but she had her reasons, reasons she would soon clarify. "But I had no choice. All those years I loved you~ All those years I admired you for how strong and kind you are. I tried so often to show you, yet never did you seem to notice."
She paused for a moment as she smiled gently at Tetsuko. "Do I feel bad about it? I do, I wish I could have made you realize in a kinder way, but I don't regret it... because finally, you realize just how much I adore you~"
She gently leaned her head sideways against Tetsuko's shoulder and hummed softly. "An adoration and love that will never change."

The Tokyo Line from Musutafu was a commute oft utilized by Tetsuko ever since coming to U.A., but never before had it felt like this. The train carriage may as well have been empty, as, from Tetsuko's perspective, she and Elise were the only ones really there. They and their beating hearts. Side by side, something lurked in every small silence between them, a tension that only grew stronger the longer it remained unaddressed...
"Yeah, it's real lucky..." Tetsuko replied softly to Eli's comment, unsure what else to say. Yet as Eli gentle squeezed her hand, Tetsuko knew just what it was they had to talk about. The iron-blooded girl, gazed back sympathetically, head bowed ever so slightly as she heard Eli's apology. It was good that she at least knew she had done wrong, she had been cruel and unfair, and made things only more difficult for them in many ways...
Did Eli really have no choice? It wasn't something to ponder on now, but that doubt clung to the back of Tetsuko's mind. Then again, she couldn't really understand Eli's position, could she? For how long had Eli been aware of, and so terribly hurt by, her own love? Compared to Tetsuko, who was still getting a grasp on the concept itself...
And yet, Tetsuko herself could not deny that a longing and pain had been growing within her, quietly and unacknowledged, before that night. Ultimately, she still wasn't sure if she regretted that night, and Eli seemed certain that it wasn't something for them to linger on. As Elise's head rested on Tetsuko's shoulder, she smiled wistfully, thumb rubbing over their interlaced hands. Elise spoke so often of adoration and love, and it always played the strings of Tetsuko's heart. But, she could appreciate that music, until she really did address this. , "It really was unfair of you..." The iron-blooded girl lamented quietly, resting her own head against Elise's. "To do that... While I was in such a state... It makes everything that bit more confusing." Her tone was sorrowful, but clearly not spiteful. Her hand continued to gently squeeze Elise's, an unbroken connection through her admissions. She didn't want Elise for a second to think that Tetsuko thought ill of her for what had happened, because she'd forgiven her from the start.
"I don't know if you didn't have a choice, but I know it... It's also my fault, for not realizing all this time. So I... I don't think bad of you for it." Her eyes glanced down, at Elise's elegant burgundy hair. Her heart ached, but the chords were so much more clear now. "I don't want to dwell on any of that..." She admitted, thumb tracing tenderly over Elise's soft and fair skin.
"Maybe we messed up very first step, but we've still got plenty to go, right?" Indeed, there was no doubting that they hadn't done things ideally, that Tetsuko's drugged state made things even more difficult in some regards. But it was only the first step, on a journey that they would both brave together...

Was there actually anyone else in the carriage? She didn't know, and at this point, she didn't even bother checking, because it simply felt like a trivial detail in the wake of Tetsuko's presence. Tetsuko's soft affirmation of them being lucky the weather was nice brought a smile to her lips, one that slowly faded as the subject was addressed. "I'm sorry..." The girl whispered apologetically as the iron-blooded girl lamented about how unfair it was of her. "I thought... that with you in that state you might had been able to be more confident, more honest with your feelings, but in the end I only caused you more confusion."
The girl lamented softly as she thought about Tetsuko's words. Did she have a choice? Would she had been able to make Tetsuko realize things just by being patient? She didn't know, and that... honestly terrified her. The burgundy-haired lass closed her eyes as she shook her head lightly, squeezing the girl's hand gently. "I understand... you were scared and lost among those feelings, weren't you? You always were so honest, so straight-forward, and in a way so simple~" She giggled briefly as her tone softened. "Yet it made those feelings all the more complicated to understand."
Elise answered her with a smile, yet feeling that thumb tracing gently over her skin? It made her cheeks flush up lightly and her body make a little shiver of delight. "You're right~ We might have messed up the very first step, but there is still so much to do~ so much to explore~" Elise answered her in return, a grin emerging on her lips as she leaned sideways against Tetsuko and unfurled a map onto both their laps.
"Our first destination is this cinema~ they are showing the latest movie of: Master Hiroko, seems her girlfriend Miyu plays a big role in this movie again~ You love martial arts movies right? And Master Hiroko often has a lot of comedy and romance in them also, so I like them also~" she admitted with a sheepish grin, noticing they were getting close to their destination. Still, she couldn't help but think back about something. That tender thumb tracing, surely... Tetsuko wouldn't mind if she returned the favor, right?
A hand sneakily made its way to the side of Tetsuko's shirt, sneaking underneath as she playfully rubbed her thumb over the girl's abs. "hehe with a bit more training you really might end up getting abs of steel~" she teasingly commented, trailing that thumb of hers over it." Gods she really loved teasing the girl like this!

There was something so delicate in the air between them, an unspoken fragility to the current state of things. But fortunately, one that they both respected and understood, in spite of everything. As Elise apologized, Tetsuko held her hand empathetically. "It's OK..." She uttered softly, forgiveness ripe in her tone. In the end, the most important thing was that Elise knew she had done wrong, and the same went for Tetsuko... Not only was she careless to get drugged in the first place, but being ignorant and dismissive towards her own feelings... Well, it was to blame for the situation too.
It would have been nice to have a clean slate, but that was wishful thinking. They'd already dirtied the board, now the best they could do was make use of what was left. Elise continued to understand Tetsuko and her feelings, in a way that sent warmth over her heart. A soothing light it was, to know that Elise comprehended her own emotions. They always had understood each other so well. "Being 'straightforward' didn't help me much here..." She replied lightly, a soft smile on her lips. "I tried to go straight through a maze and ended up running face-first into a wall. It's... My fault too." The Japanese girl admitted. They'd both messed up, each in ways that were so closely tied to their very beings. And it had bent things out of shape, but they weren't broken yet.
The future was hope, and that's why they looked toward it. And yet... Part of their past still went unanswered. It lingered in Tetsuko's mind as Elise brightened up, the Shindou girl wondering if it was time to bring it up now. The pain in her heart was like a dagger; she knew not if it was best to pull it now, or if doing so would only bleed her dry. For now, she smiled beside Elise, as much as it hurt to do so.
A movie seemed first on their agenda, lightening Tetsuko's mood a little bit. "Yeah, I remember when we watched the first one, way back... Loved them ever since, the choreography is next-level." She declared with what little cheer she could muster. "I always thought it'd be cool to be Master Hiroko..." An almost childish lamentation, but a sincere one. Master Hiroko had faced trials and come out with an understanding of herself and the world around her, meanwhile, Tetsuko didn't even know where the hell to begin.
Her somewhat sorrowful thoughts were broken by a sudden touch against her torso, causing the girl to jump in her seat a bit. "E-Eli?" She stammered out, cheeks flush with a pinkish hue. Elise's sly comments, just had the Shindou girl leaning against her with a bashful look. She really did like teasing her, didn't she?
... So much of what she did seemed like teasing.
Tetsuko placed her hand over Elise's, stopping the teasing touch and holding it against her tenderly, yet hesitantly. Ever since that day... Tetsuko had wondered to what extent Eli's teasing went. How much was she ever serious about... How much was simply misunderstood? "Eli..." Tetsuko uttered quietly, a distinct pain in her tone. "We need to talk about more, don't we?"

Elise couldn't help but think that Tetsuko was more like Hiroko in certain subtle ways, even if it was difficult to see, after all both were heroes, even if Tetsuko was her hero. Perhaps it was for that reason she spoke the sweet words. "You're already cool enough as you are~" a sweet yet genuine compliment but unfortunate that delicate fragileness in their conversation would soon break after her sly teasing remark, that tender way Tetsuko held her hand, the words that followed... It made her freeze up. Her smile lingered for just a moment, her eyes gazing gently at Tetsuko as she uttered softly in response. "You're right..."
She knew she couldn't escape from this confrontation, nor did she want to. Tetsuko didn't deserve that. How often had she ran and hidden her feelings, her pain, her suffering? If she couldn't be honest with Tetsuko, the one who had always been there for her since that day, then who could she possibly... No, the time for acting and teasing was over, she couldn't hold it any more. Especially the distinct pain in the girl's tone made it clear just how much she had made Tetsuko suffer, and that made her feel immensely guilty.
"I..." Her smile wavered, her lithe body trembling lightly like a leaf on the verge of being blown away by the wind, even her eyes shown hints of immense sorrow and regret, fear even as a familiar moistness gathered in them. She gently ceased the teasing touch, instead interlacing her fingers with Tetsuko's as she whispered feebly.
"Did something stupid, didn't I?" The girl asked, she had no doubt her actions in hindsight had been the very embodiment of stupidity. "I was lost... scared... scared that those feelings in your heart weren't love. So... when she appeared I was left confused."
Her hand squeezed lightly into Tetsuko's own, her voice fragile and clearly pained in its own way as she continued. "She showed me kindness and understanding... so much of her reminded me of you, but... when she... when she told me she loved me I succumbed to the weakness of my heart. It controlled me like a puppet, made me dance a waltz of emotions I couldn't comprehend."
A little sob followed, her free hand reaching for her eyes to hide the tears that were gathering. "But what is love? If you can feel it for more than one person? When... when that night happened I was so frightened. I... I can't do it anymore, Trying to keep on smiling and trying to not make everyone worry, hoping to prevent the past from happening again. And that was why I became so scared of losing you, the only one I still have left."
She lowered her head, like a scolded puppy. "But amidst that pain I came to realize: What I desired wasn't just to be loved. I didn't just want that. What I wanted is... a love that is exclusive for me, a love that makes me truly special to someone."
She paused for a moment, looking at Tetsuko with a look that unmistakable was familiar to the one she gave her in the park: It was clear that even after her earlier act: Elise really had been broken.
"But I don't deserve that anymore, do I? After having seen how disgusting and unfair my heart is... I don't deserve your love anymore, do I Tetsu?"
The hand was squeezed once more as she pleaded softly. "And yet even then I can't shake off those feelings for you, I don't even want to try. I love you Tetsuko, and it scares me... just how much I love you and what consequences that has."
After that day Tetsuko truly was the only one she had left, the only one she could truly trust, even after her heart had been broken.

Tetsuko had never been one to back down from anything, always moving straight ahead without regard for any more indirect routes. It was a method she applied not only to her swordsmanship, but also to her life as a whole. It was the same approach driving her to this confrontation of the recent past. She was afraid, terrified, and in pain, but she marched forward. Because it was the only way that Tetsuko Shindou could be absolutely certain that she'd end up on the other side of all this trouble.
As much as it hurt, Tetsuko continued to hold Elise's hand. Thoughts arose and were quelled within her mind, thoughts that brought suffering just to continue holding onto Elise, while she still didn't know so much. Her loyalty and beliefs had been tested, but Tetsuko wouldn't let them break. Not yet. They could bend and twist, but not break, not until she knew the full story. Until then, her iron would not shatter, not even under the overbearing heat of their mutual suffering.
Tetsuko listened attentively and silently to Elise's words, fingers gently interlaced with her own. The knife only sunk in deeper at the mention of Elise's doubts toward Tetsuko's feelings. Her worst fear was true: That really, Tetsuko herself was also to blame for this whole thing. If only she'd been more aware of her own feelings, maybe she could have spared Elise from that fear, that confusion... Elise spoke on, and with every word Tetsuko's core bled. The one Eli had confessed to, she was so akin to Tetsuko in the Germanic girl's eyes... But she'd been able to understand her feelings, and that enough had caused Elise so much trouble.
Ultimately, neither of them knew anything about love. Tetsuko's eyes began welling up with moisture, choking back the pain and tears as she held Elise's hand. The Germanic spoke so softly, so genuinely about her fear of losing Tetsuko... Yet, also of her desire to be someone's 'exclusive' love. That was an inferno on the weakened iron of Tetsuko's heart. Elise was saying that she wanted to be the sole loved one of someone else; yet... To have told both Tetsuko and Rin she loved them... It seemed... Wrong. But so did Tetsuko's own feelings on the matter. What right did she have to be angry about it, when she herself had held back her own feelings?
A broken Elise looked up at Tetsuko, who didn't know what on Earth to say. So much had changed, so much confusion had complicated everything... Who deserved love? What was love? How did they know? Elise spoke so strongly of her love for Tetsuko, but the iron-blooded girl couldn't deny her faith had been damaged. 'Love' seemed such a serious word, yet thrown around so seriously... God, everything was so confusing. And Tetsuko didn't know where to start, but her truest conclusion.
"We really are all idiots, aren't we?" She uttered with a broken smile, leaning back into her seat. They were so young, so stupid, and just trying to make sense of it all. But maybe that was the whole reason. Maybe all they needed was that thing had so much of. Time.
"I... I don't know anything about love. I don't know anything about any of this. I just know... That it... Really hurt..." Tetsuko gulped down a sob, eyes gazing up at nothing in particular. "But I'm the selfish one. Feeling that way, yet not knowing what I felt... If you're stupid, so am I." She lamented, holding her oldest friend's hand tightly.
"And so is Rin. And that bit-... The one who spoke to you like that. We're all stupid. None of us really know what we're talking about, do we?" She didn't really know what she was saying, there was such an emptiness to Tetsuko's voice, an exhaustion and pain she couldn't endure for so long. "I used to think I understood you so well... But now, there's so much more you've made me see... And I..." And she what? Ultimately, what had changed? Tetsuko looked into Elise's eyes, those beautiful eyes, with such conflict and pain... What had changed?
"And now you..."
Tetsuko choked on her words, her hand trembling in Eli's. Everything was so complicated, so fucking complicated. But why did it have to be?
"You're still so important to me." Tetsuko said hushedly, tears beginning to fall down her cheeks. "And I still don't want to let go. Because even if you... Hurt me... I know you didn't mean to. I still know who you are, Eli. And you're not cruel. You're a bit selfish, and a bit stupid... But we all are. And you... You know you hurt me... And I don't want to believe you'd lie to me. I know you wouldn't..." Words came out so easily, spoken before thought, as Tetsuko found a strange clarity wash over her.
"Listen. Let's admit, we don't know what we're doing." A hand was raised to Eli's cheek, comforting and soft. There was a certain light that seemed emanate from the Germanic girl, even now. She was Tetsuko's lantern in the storm, and nothing would change that. "If we wanna really try this dating thing... We gotta know that we're gonna hurt each other sometimes, right? Sometimes badly. And even if... It still hurts... And I don't when it'll stop hurting... I just know that the pain will only be worse if I let go of your hand."
Straight ahead. That was the only to go. To simply accept the few facts Tetsuko knew, and charge forward with nothing and everything to lose.
"We're stupid. Really stupid. But two heads are better than one. So... Let's keep going." Tetsuko said wistfully, painfully aware of how much suffering they were still yet to experience. "You promised to show me the depths of my heart. I should've known I'd get hurt a bit along the way. But I'm... I'm not ready to stop yet... And if anything, the pain has made something clear..." She smiled softly, tears still streaking her face. They'd fucked up the start. Badly. So why not... Just start again?
"I... Like you, Eli. Will you go out with me?"

While Tetsuko had never been one to back from anything, Elise was always the one who was secretly cautious behind her smile. She might have appeared cheerful and uppity but every word and action she made was done through a network of thoughts and considerations where she didn't want to hurt anyone, and yet it was that type of act that had led to this. It had led to her being pushed away so cruelly, to Rin to be hurt, and for Tetsuko to suffer so much... all because oh how unfair and cruel her heart had been. How could she possibly then not be afraid of something like love?
Even with the pain, with the suffering, Tetsuko continued to hold her hand, and Elise couldn't bring herself to allow her to let go. Tetsuko was all she had left not, the only one she felt that could keep her from succumbing entirely to the darkness that was shrouding her heart. She knew just how loyal Tetsuko was, and how insecure she was about her feelings, but in the end, it was because of her selfishness that Tetsuko got hurt. It pained her to admit, that the real one to blame for this was not Tetsuko, not even Rin... it was her own insecurities and weakness.
Elise felt so scared, to confess everything to Tetsuko, knowing that it was within the girl's right to repulse her, to push her away for the things she did and that? That would have been the moment Elise truly learned despair. She told Tetsuko everything, about how she had worked alongside Rin for so many hours to solve the issues with the drug that haunted the academy, of how kind and concerned Rin could be, of how she had saved the girl from being drugged and how in return Rin took care of her during that moment of weakness when the drug affected her to a degree.
In the end, what was love? Was it a form of a more stronger and passionate friendship? She didn't know. Seeing Tetsuko's eyes grow moist with tears she wanted to call out to her, tell her not to try but she was so scared, so vulnerable that the words didn't leave her lips. It was wrong of her, to desire to be someone's loved one in a way that it was just her, and yet to love both Tetsuko and Rin at the same time? It was too selfish of a desire.
She was broken, scared and at this point didn't know what to say or do anymore. Her explanation had stopped, the silence lingering in the air and only the sound of the soft sobs following. Was this the end? Would she have truly ruined everything? Would Tetsuko no longer love her, and would things revert back to the way they had been? Would she truly never be able to be loved? Love was such a serious word, such a strong one yet she had learned it was also an incredibly painful one.
Tetsuko was the first to break the silence, uttering that they were all idiots, the broken smile as she leaned back into her chair sending pangs of regret through the girl's heart. "It... it does..." she whispered meekly. "It feels amazing at times, makes you feel invincible and yet sometimes it hurts so badly." Yet Tetsuko's words that followed surprised her: Did she blame herself for this? No... it was her fault, because of her Tetsuko had suffered! She wasn't to blame.
The mentioning of Rin made the girl's gaze lower, a painful sensation in her chest that quickly grew worse when 'she' was mentioned, the one whose name she couldn't even utter anymore. But perhaps Tetsuko was right, perhaps none of them knew what love truly was. If it was a different form of friendship, then was friendship not a starting point of it? She didn't know, and at this point, she was almost terrified of that mysterious thing known as love.
Tetsuko admitted she thought she had known Elise, yet those events had shown a side of the girl that would likely have... yes, like everyone else... Surely after having seen her like this Tetsuko would be disgusted at her, right? It was only natural for her to feel that way after the things she said and done.
Her hand trembled slightly as she felt herself getting frightened, she didn't... didn't want Tetsuko to continue, to affirm her fears but she had to, this was a responsibility she had to take. She could feel it, Tetsuko's insecurities. She was still important to her... and yet after all this, she still didn't want to let go of her?
Her eyes widened in surprise, knowing that even after she had hurt Tetsuko, she didn't want to let go... she didn't want to push her aside nor run away. Tetsuko words were true, the comforting hand against her cheek as she was forced to confront a harsh truth: they didn't know what they were doing, they didn't know what love truly was. But then, then Tetsuko told her something she didn't expect. She still wanted to try this dating thing, knowing they would hurt each other, and that she would be hurt more if she let go of Elise.
The wistful reply that they were both stupid, and yet could still keep on going together... that she promised she would show Tetsuko the depths of her heart. Seeing those tears streaking the girl's face and then... Then the words that followed were the breaking point.
"E-Even after all I did you---" she couldn't even finish her sentence, when Tetsuko told her she still liked her, even if it was not the word she had hoped to hear, the way she said it, and what followed afterwards. This time the tears that followed were not tears of sorrow, but clearly happiness as she wrapped her arms around Tetsuko, not caring about the fact they were in a public place. Pressing her head onto Tetsuko's shoulder she cried out, tears rolling down her cheeks as she felt the warmth of the girl's body, that warmth that wouldn't ever abandon her.
"I do Tetsu! I do!" she cried, clinging to the girl as she cried in joy. Even if she had misinterpreted the meaning perhaps, to her those words sounded that Tetsuko was willing to give things a chance, for them to go on a date together... for her to become Tetsuko's.
And yet it was in that moment that Elise understood: This was the one person she never wanted to let go of, knowing she would never let go of her either.

Maybe she was a coward or a fool for doing things like this. Of course, simply attempting to start over was easier said than done, and Tetsuko was well aware that it might be her own way of avoiding her deepest fears. Above all else, what she wanted 'security'. To know what she and Elise were, to still remain loyal and dependable to someone so important to her... And deep down, she wanted to receive that security in return. 'Security' was what Tetsuko craved, it was why she did what she did... To fulfill her duty, to become dependable and steadfast. But it was also the root of her volatile heart; an insecure core, uncertain and wavering.
So to say it took the strength of will, to accept Elise and all she was, to move forward with the faith that she'd never intentionally hurt Tetsuko... Well, that would be no small understatement. So maybe it was wishful thinking, a desperate attempt to keep secure the last happy recollection of her past in the form of Elise... Or maybe, Tetsuko didn't just have to have faith in the Germanic girl, but faith in herself. Faith that she could stand by Elise, and that Elise would stand by her.
She wasn't unlike a samurai of old. Dedicating herself to her lord, in the hopes they would be seen and adored as dependable and steadfast.
The many doubts Tetsuko had seemed to wash away with the tide as Elise embraced her so readily. That 'security' was locked in place with her closeness. The iron-blooded girl returned the hug, arms wrapping tightly around the burgundy-haired lass as tears streaked down her face. Her lip quivered, face scrunched a little as the Shindou girl tried to suppress her own sobs and cries. To move forward, expecting hurt, yet maintaining faith that they'd have this security, it took bravery, and nothing made her feel braver than holding Elise in her arms.
The Germanic girl eagerly exclaimed her response, which Tetsuko could've expected. The Japanese girl let out a huff of an overjoyed huckle at the answer, finding it so like Elise. "'I do'? I asked you out, not to marry me. Dummy." She said with a big dumb grin, knowing what Eli had meant. Though they could've likely held that embrace forever, time was not on their side, as a call from the train's loudspeakers revealed that their stop was approaching.
"Ah, geeze..." Tetsuko lamented, though her happiness remained in her tone, and her embrace was tight as ever. "Any chance you brought some tissues? We might wanna clean up." She said with a small laugh, knowing just how stained they were with tears by this point.
Things weren't always going to be this pleasant, but Tetsuko was glad for that moment. Because ultimately, the pain they faced in the near or distant future would be nothing to the promises to move forward they'd made.

Typical Tetsuko, even in this sea of feelings the girl could say something to get the poor burgundy-haired lass flustered. She leaned back a little, her cheeks red with embarrassment as she mumbled softly. "There will have to be a lot more dates before I marry you." Although she couldn't help but embrace Tetsuko a final time, whispering into the girl's ear. "But I wouldn't marriage someday... if it was with you."
Her face beat-red by now Tetsuko's lamenting brought her attention back to the subject of their appearance, and fortunately Elise did have some tissues with her, pulling some out of her purse and placing them in Tetsuko's hand while she picked another one and leaned it to Tetsuko's face, gently and tenderly wiping away her tears. "This remembers me of when we were children... Remember? When you got into fights and we would dry each other's tears and you would keep asking me why I was crying alongside you."
So much had changed, and yet at the same time so much had still remained the same. After they reached their destination Elise was quick to guide Tetsuko out of the train station and onto the streets of Tokyo, yet it quickly became evident that there was lasting damage of that past night, her hand still holding Tetsuko's when they walked past the crowds of people. But then, something quite unexpected happened.
"Hey, look what a cutie, the one with the burgundy-hair?" a young man's voice came from up ahead, two teenagers approaching the duo. Their mere presence already caused Elise's grasp on Tetsuko's hand to tighten lightly as it became clear what the duo was doing. "Mhmm, she has quite a cute feminine look to her~ hey sweetie, how about ditching your friend and going on a date with us?"
A jolt came from Elise's body, clinging lightly to Tetsuko's arm while the other teenager looked at Tetsuko and felt his cheeks flush up lightly, a sheepish grin on his lips. "Her friend looks rather cute also, can't we invite her over also?"
Wait, was that guy... trying to flirt with Tetsuko? Suddenly shifting her body she gave Tetsuko a frontal hug, as if using her body as a shield while looking up at Tetsuko with a wordless expression that clearly showed that despite her discomfort she wouldn't let them near her! Could it be... that she was trying to be protective of Tetsuko in her own way?
"Uuuh..." the two teenagers went, looking from Elise to Tetsuko in confusion.

Typical Elise, taking a remark of hers and using to tease the poor Shindou girl. The whisper against her air sent a red hue into the Japanese girl's cheeks, as she smiled in comfort at her friend's jest. Seeing Elise back to normal really warmed her heart. "Yeah, yeah, let's hold off on the marriage talk." Tetsuko said with a chuckle, her casual and warm nature shining through. Tied by fate, if one of them get better, so did the other, it seemed.
Handily, Elise did have some tissues available for the messy duo, placing some in each of their hands before leaning in to gently wipe away Tetsuko's tears. She reminisced about the past, stupid old memories that prompted a quick chuckle from Tetsuko. "You were always crying harder than I was, even if I was the one with all the bruises... Seeing you cry always hurt a lot worse, though." Fond recollections were had as the Shindou girl wiped away Elise's own tears.
They still had a long way to go before they fixed this messed up situation, but smiling at old memories seemed like a good start. Tetsuko wanted to mention further thoughts on night, on whether or not it was right to reconcile with others involved... But held off on that topic for now. They could discuss that later, and enjoy their bond now.
Reaching their destination, Elise guided Tetsuko by the hand, holding on tight and desparately. It reminded Tetsuko all too much of their earlier days, and not in a terribly positive way. That night really had damaged the Germanic girl, to bring her back into this state... It was rather fortunate Elise had yet to reveal the name of the person behind her break, for if she had, then Tetsuko's anger would have been even more focused and thus potent...
For now, there were new volunteers for the young swordswoman's anger. The voice ahead of them already had Tetsuko's hand tightening around Elise's as she tried to guide them away. Alas, the crowds were a bit too thick to just barge past, leaving them to deal with the incessant young lads. Tetsuko just groaned as they continued their aggravating flirting, particularly as Elise clung close to her. She was reminded of a story she'd heard from her grandmother, about how Tetsuko's father had once gotten into a fight with a flirty guy on a date with the Shindou girl's mother. Tetsuko had always wondered why her father would be so reckless and rash. Now she knew.
"Listen, why don't you g-" Tetsuko began, before Elise quickly shifted her position around the Shindou girl. In bafflement, all she could do was stare down at the discomforted girl's face, wondering what this move was supposed to be. Was she... Shielding Tetsuko? Being protective of her? God, that was cute.
With a soft sigh, Tetsuko took hold of Elise's hand, holding it gently as she looked up to the two boys with a faux smile on her face. "We're busy." Placing a comforting palm on Elise's back. From the knuckles of that same palm, a small blade sprouted through, out of Elise's sight, but well within view of the two teenage boys. Tetsuko continued smiling, trusting they were kind enough to let them past. Or, well, smart enough.

There was something about seeing Tetsuko happy and flustered that always succeeded to send an indescribable sensation through the burgundy-haired lass her body. A certain happiness she couldn't properly place, and so when Tetsuko answered her remark with a chuckle Elise couldn't help but grin sheepishly at her companion as they reminisced about the past. "I guess it doesn't help that I'm such a crybaby~" Elise answered with a soft chuckle before they finally left the train together.
As Tetsuko was about to say something Elise had already stepped in, looking at Tetsuko with that mixture of discomfort and determination, yet feeling that comforting palm rest against her back, pressing her a bit closer against Tetsuko's chest the girl couldn't help but think of this as an embrace, entirely oblivious that this gesture of protective affection was just as much a threat, the small blade sprouting through the knuckles of Tetsuko and earning a small gulp from the less vocal of the duo, the two teenagers soon disappearing and making Elise whisper softly. "They left..." Peeking upwards at Tetsuko's face she couldn't help but find her cheeks flushing up lightly at how close they were, asking in a soft and tender tone that clearly suggested at the joy she felt.
"I... need a minute Tetsu..." she whispered softly, her small hands still gently resting on Tetsuko's waist. "Hehe... your chest really is comfortable..." the girl whispered as she briefly nuzzled against it before withdrawing and slipping her hands back around Tetsuko's arm. "Thank you~ I think I recovered enough."
Fortunately for the two of them it seemed that there would be no more interruptions before reaching the cinema, the large building earning a soft 'oooh~' from the girl. They really didn't have this type of cinema back in Musutafu, did they? Gently pulling Tetsuko along into the building they ordered their tickets, got a collection of snacks: in Elise's case some apple-flavored carbonated drink and a bag of candy and after Tetsuko got her own the two of them would had been able to start enjoying their movie together.
Elise had been adamant about taking a seat near the back, knowing how they were less occupied and provided more privacy than normally, and as she took a seat she gently interlaced her fingers with Tetsuko's own, humming softly.
"Now don't start chanting the names of her martial arts moves~ Else people might hush us." She remarked with a little grin, leaning her head sideways against Tetsuko's shoulder as the screen turned dark.
