Due to her inability to properly experience physical sensations, she sees no reason to get needlessly involved with others. Even her emotions have become somewhat dulled, making her a generally apathetic individual; she can still experience emotion, but not 'fully'. To her, the entire world seems to be drowned out -- like she's constantly underwater and can only claw at the surface. Growing up mostly on her own caused her to quickly develop an independent personality. This is why she's able to find a solace in her solitude, in contrast to a loneliness that most might feel. Yet, despite this detachment she has and feels towards most, she's still motivated by her own sense of 'right' and 'wrong', as well her own personal interests. The only one person she genuinely seems to care for is her 'grandfather', though that may be more out of remorse than anything else. Either way, there is a part of her that is caring and sympathetic, though she tends not to expose that side of herself to anyone. Despite being a vigilante, it's hard to say where Ryker's allegiance's lie, in all honesty. While her morals typically dictate that she helps those in need, she's not beyond pursuing less than noble avenues to take care of herself. She's the type of person who may save someone from mortal danger, and then expect some form of compensation in return. This leaves her in a grey area in which she's one push or pull from falling down the path of a villain or a hero, with only the influence of those around her being capable of swaying her to one side. | APPEARANCE HEIGHT: 182 cm WEIGHT: 69 kg HAIR/STYLE: long white hair SKIN/SCARS: light complexion; has a bunch of scars on her forearms and hands EYES: Blue NOTABLES: Tends to keep her hands wrapped with bandages and has well defined muscles. |

HISTORY Ryker never knew her parents, but this isn't something that has weighed heavily on her. In place of parents, she grew up as the youngest child among a group of orphans. Cared for by an couple that ran a home for orphaned 'Quirkers', Ryker was always aware of the way the world was beyond the walls of the large house she grew up in. Quirkers were accepted, but only if they were useful and could serve the general populace in one way or another. And this was a mindset that quickly wormed its way into Ryker's brain, setting her on a course to discover her quirk as quickly as possible. And every step of the way, her caretakers encouraged her to do so. As children of Quirkers, it was naturally assumed they would manifest abilities like their parents. And once they did, it wasn't long before they were sent off to a new home, where they'd be able to grow and properly learn how to utilize their Quirks. And Ryker watched as friend after friend left, only to be replaced by other, younger children. It wasn't until Ryker was 6 did her Quirk finally manifest, and an interesting one it was. It didn't take long for them to realize it allowed her to absorb force, storing it in her body, before releasing it eventually. And as such, Ryker patiently and happily waited to be sent off to her new home. It had taken a while, according to her caretakers, but they had finally found a loving family for her. And as that day came and she said goodbye to her caretakers and the other children who had arrived over the years, she was prepared for her new life. But those expectations of happiness were soon dashed. What started as a car ride with a pleasant woman ended with a chain around her neck as she was dragged into a warehouse. And in that warehouse, there were people of all sorts of backgrounds and nationalities -- men and women who had taken an interest in her and the potential she held. And, slowly, she began to learn the truth. The orphanage was little more than a small part of a network of human traffickers that made money off of acquiring children of Quirkers and then selling them off to the highest bidder for a multitude of reasons. Some were sold off to criminals to be raised as bodyguards and goons, their particular abilities making them useful... While others didn't get such a happy ending; some being desired for the potential they held, with various medical and scientific individuals interested in using them as test subjects to replicate or duplicate their abilities. It was a disgusting thing, with the only real 'good' end being a life of servitude. Because that was better than being cut open on a table. And for Ryker, it was quickly becoming apparent her chances were a 50/50 -- her ability to absorb trauma and later utilize it could make her an adequate bodyguard, but at the same time the potential possibly being able to duplicate her Quirk or push it to its limits had people wanting her in a seedy laboratory. 'Luckily', she wound up being sold off to someone interested in raising her as a bodyguard of sorts. And the following five years of her life were spent under the thumb of someone who constantly pushed the limits of her Quirk. However, at the age of twelve, a vigilante appeared. He had been tracking the activities of the human traffickers for years, having been working alongside other like-minded Quirkers who'd had their children stolen from them at birth. And after the primary trafficking ring was broken up, all that was left was to pursue those who had dealings with the criminals. Which inevitably led the vigilante to the home of the man who owned Ryker, and during the conflict she slipped away. Running away at the age of 12 wasn't an easy thing, but she didn't know who the mysterious person was -- all she knew was she had an opportunity to flee and she took it. Fast forward to the present and Ryker is 18, taking care of her 'grandfather' -- an elderly and senile old man who confused Ryker with his real granddaughter some time ago. Despite being aware she's taking advantage of him, she still genuinely takes care of him and goes out of her way to ensure he's cared for. She works part-time at a cafe, the money she makes being enough to care for the both of them when paired with the money from her grandfather's retirement fund, though she tries not to dip into it unless it's necessary. At night, she'll frequently take to the streets when the old man is resting, typically acting as a vigilante, but sometimes she finds herself straying from that path. |
