Elise Von Eisenberg Dress to impress~
It was not often that Elise was nervous, in the one while some might find some irony in the fact her childhood friend could turn into steel, Elise at the other hand usually had nerves of steel, so to see her so nervous was quite an unusual sight to behold. But what exactly could make this young lady so nervous? The answer to that seemed quite evident after one took in a few more details of the current scene. First and foremost, she was in her room, pacing back and forth in front of a mirror. The second detail? That was found in the fact that she was wearing an elegant and rather cute-looking frilly summer dress that suited her quite well.
"Eli, at this rate you're going to be late, besides I'm certain your 'date' won't mind what type of dress you wear." The voice of a middle-aged woman came from the doorway, making Elise spin around, a light flail of her hands following in embarrassment as she protested loudly. "It's not a date!" Although, secretly she wished it had been one. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she gave herself a final glimpse in the mirror and gave her reflection a thumbs-up gesture. "Yep~ As good as it can get!" And with those words, she darted out of her room to catch up with her parents.
It had been a few weeks since she and her childhood friend Tetsuko had gone their own separate ways, even if only temporarily. She knew that for Tetsuko her ambition would be easiest to attain if she enrolled in the newly established school that seemed to train people to properly wield their Quirk and become what society called 'Heroes'. A noble cause for sure, but one that didn't fit her at all. Just like Tetsuko had her stubborn side, Elise had a rather stubborn streak herself in the form of never accepting or tolerating violence, which would make it impossible for her to be a hero considering the inevitable conflicts they'd get themselves into.
Still, her admiration for her childhood friend had allowed her to figure out a different path to take, one in which she could still support Tetsuko and one that worked perfectly for someone with a Quirk like hers: She would become a doctor.
Of course, such a path would be quite difficult to take, and as a result, she had enrolled in a prestigious medical school in Tokyo. So far it had gone really well, even if the lectures were complicated and the actual practical training quite intensive, it seemed Elise was as determined as Tetsuko to succeed, and this alongside her natural affinity for studying had rapidly made the girl take her first steps into the medical world. She had already been given permission to experiment with producing medicine, no doubt associated with the prestige her family had in the medical world, but today was not about her studies.
No, today was the first day in weeks in which she would be able to hang out with Tetsuko again, and she intended to take full advantage of it. It was not that often they could meet in person, in the end, both of them had a rigorous educational course to pursue and even if they frequently contacted each other, she still felt somewhat lonely when Tetsuko wasn't at her side.
"Playing with your phone again?" Her father asked as he added to his question with a sheepish grin. "I'm surprised she doesn't go crazy with those daily calls from you." Of course, Elise was quick to answer with a sheepish grin. "It's a promise we made~ We'll call each other at least once a day, this way we still get to talk like before~" Yet as they stopped at the traffic lights her mother mused teasingly in return. "Let her be darling, last time she didn't get a call from Tetsuko the poor girl had to go all the way to Tokyo to apologize."
Her cheeks flushing up Elise denied the statement with an embarrassed. "I wasn't upset! I... I was just worried about her." She added with a gentle brush of her fingertips along the hairclip in her hair, a gift she had once received from Tetsuko when they were still children.
Was she being too clingy? Perhaps, but at the same time, it really showed just how much she cared about her childhood friend. Still, it seemed it would be a bit longer before they would reach their destination, so closing her eyes the girl allowed her thoughts to drift back to a recent encounter.
She still remembered it vividly, the sight of the bullies who had badmouthed her, even if they were superior in number they had been all knocked out, almost like something straight from those shonen manga kids at their school loved to read. If she recalled right, even Tetsuko secretly liked reading those every now and then, or was that for martial arts ideas?
Nonetheless, the sight of Tetsuko being injured had brought for a deeply ingrained desire to help her, to comfort her and take away her suffering, something her quirk allowed to do so, but the method of the usage she had chosen for it. A finger absently brushed along her lips, recalling that flavor that lingered in her thoughts, and the fact her feelings from that day weren't answered...
"Eli~ We're here." A sudden call brought her back to reality, her body shifting upright as she grabbed her purse and pulled a hand toward the door handle of the car.
"We'll be at the conference most of the day, but if something comes up call us, else we'll pick you up in the evening~"
A gentle nod was made by the girl as she opened the car door and stepped outside onto the plaza, turning around and giving her parents a final wave as she turned her gaze at the small watch around her wrist. "Almost nine, guess I'm on time~" The girl whispered softly as she looked around in search for her friend.

What a weird mood... words: 1025 | Ichi! Ni! San! With each count, Tetsuko swung her wooden practice blade overhead, cleaving it through the air with fluidity and being ready for the next strike, not a moment after. Hands were clasped a short distance apart, blade raised til the bottom of the hilt was parallel with her scalp, swing down till her blade was in line with her center. This movement had been drilled into her mind, etched into her muscles, sowed into her blood. And every time she performed it, the writing only got clearer. Such was the nature of practice and repetition, such was the nature of a fighting art. Ichi! Ni! San! But as with all things that repeat, errors are bound to occur. Tetsuko felt the fault in her technique, felt her movements turn unnatural with her last swing. An inexperienced onlooker wouldn't have been aware of the erroneous strike, but Tetsuko was more than conscious of it. Her breathing faltered, frustration taking root. Ichi! Ni! San! Again, she felt it. It was such an annoying feeling, to know the fault of your techniques after you'd performed them, and then to make the same mistake again. She took a deep breath, feeling the tension in her shoulders linger. Why couldn't she get this right today? Mistakes were bound to be made, but this wasn't the first time she'd found her technique failing. She sighed into the air, burning frustration foolishly stoked by her continued efforts to fix her errors. She was lucky that she wasn't the only one making not of her own mistakes. "Let's stop there for today, kiddo." An older man suggested, Masaru Shindou offering a sympathetic smile to his daughter. Tetsuko was unfazed, remaining in stance and gripping the wooden sword tightly. "We can keep going, I need to get this right!" She assured, steely gaze focused straight ahead. Masaru sighed, raising one hand to scratch his stubble as he spoke. "Well you ain't gonna do that now. Your way too tense, nervous... You worried about meetin' up with Eli or somethin'?" He asked nonchalantly, as the man set his own wooden practice sword aside. Tetsuko groaned, knowing her father wasn't gonna budge on this. She relaxed from her stance, trudging over to the wall where she set her own practice sword aside. "I mean, I get it, when you and your friends go different directions it can be kinda scary wonderin-" Masaru's words were cut off by Tetsuko raising her eyebrows and cocking her head at him, an almost universal sign of displeasure with one's parental figure. "I'm fine, Dad. Eli and I have been friends for ages now, I'm not worried about that. We still call each other every day, you know?" She'd reassure. "I'm just... I dunno..." Truthfully, the girl couldn't entirely explain the nerves she felt for their meeting. It was more than just excitement for seeing her friend again, it was something else, something that made her uncertain and a little conflicted. Masaru just huffed, the universal response of a man who, like many, was struggling greatly to understand his teenage child. "Alright, just hurry up and get ready. We're already cutting it close with your morning training session." He stated, gesturing towards the clock at one end of their little training room. It was getting pretty close to time to head out for their reunion, as Masaru said. "Yeah, alright..." Tetsuko sighed with only a hint of defiance as she started toward the room's exit, off to get changed as quickly as a girl like her could. "I'll be waiting by the car. Say goodbye to your mother before you leave, she's in the garden!" Masaru called after his daughter as she left to prepare herself for what was nothing more than a simple meeting between friends. Right? Tetsuko would stroll into her room and shed her training gear, before scouring her closet for something a bit more comfortable. A dress just wouldn't do, not for her at least. But still... Tetsuko felt inexplicably obligated to do more than just throw together whatever she first pulled out. The Japanese girl retrieved a few items to form that tomboyish street look she desired, quite happy with her fashion choices in the end. Tetsuko looked herself over in the mirror, inspecting her outfit with focus. She really was in a funny way today, wasn't she? Making sure she looked nice for a meet-up with her childhood friend... That was weird, right? Against her own will, Tetsuko thought of that night. It wasn't unlike trying to remember a dream, so little of it was clear, and that which was was difficult to distinguish from reality. Tetsuko still didn't know if that had really happened... Even if she remembered the touch and taste so vividly... The Shindou female shook the thoughts from her head, her pounding heart going unacknowledged. Now was no time to get caught up in the strangeness of memories. Tetsuko was ready to go, almost. Last stop was to waltz out slowly into the garden, where a lovely older woman in a wheelchair sat silently and serenely. "I'm going out now, Mom. I'll see you when I'm home." Tetsuko would utter softly. Miku Shindou turned and smiled, and little more. She sometimes got like this out there in the garden, lost in her own little world... ~~~~~~~~~~ "Call me when ya wanna get picked up."Was her father's parting words as he'd dropped her off by the plaza where she'd be meeting Elise. It'd only been a few weeks since they'd seen one another, but Tetsuko was genuinely excited to see her dearest friend again. It didn't take long to find her amidst the crowds. Eli's hair stood out quite a bit in the streets of Japan. Tetsuko didn't hesitate to raise a hand into the air, trying to get her attention. "Eli, over her! She called out, approaching the Germanic lass, who herself had certainly dressed for the occasion. Tetsuko wasn't one for frills and all that, but Eli could certainly pull it off. "You, um... That's a new dress, yeah?" Tetsuko blurted out. She really was being weird today... multiply life by the power of two |

Elise Von Eisenberg Dress to impress~
Fortunately, it seemed Elise didn't need to wait long at all, for a familiar voice called out to her, making her turn into the direction it came from. The sight of Tetsuko's approach quickly brought a warm smile upon her lips, a hand raised in a playful wave as she stepped toward the girl. It was odd, but if there was something that she had started to acknowledge over the years spend with Tetsuko, that the tomboyish girl's presence had a way to bring out the most cheer in the girl. Not that she wasn't cheerful by default, in fact, some would argue that her personality was constantly stuck in a cheerfulness state and that a warm smile upon her lips was a default setting of her expression.
"Tetsu~" Elise greet her with a smile as they finally were close enough to each other for a proper conversation without needing to raise their voices, although the Japanese lass had blurted out an unexpected comment, one which wasn't entirely displeasing either! "Mhmm~ It's starting to get rather hot, and you know how I feel about summers~" Elise remarked with a sheepish grin. Warm weather usually meant people had to drink more, and when one considered a girl like Elise who already had to drink a lot of water or beverages due to her Quirk, she often considered the summer season a nightmare due to how important her hydration was, and how easily she could get dehydrated. However! There was obviously a more important question that needed to get asked, right?
"Umm..." After a short fidgeting on the spot the girl continued speaking. "How does it look?" Hopefully, Tetsuko wouldn't consider the frills and design too girlish, then again in a way the contrast in their fashion was kind of endearing.
Doki, doki, doki
Gods, she could almost hear her own heart trying to escape from her chest, that somewhat pleasant mixture of excitement and nervousness coursing through her as she tried her best to not show her flustered state. After giving Tetsuko the chance to reply it was obviously time for them to start the main course of this reunion: hanging out together!
"Let's go Tetsu~" Elise called out happily as she tried to reach for the girl's hand to pull her lightly away from the plaza. "Since Mustafu is more your territory I'll let you take the lead on the places we'll visit~"
Elise suggested with a smile as she waited for Tetsuko to start leading them around, while in the meanwhile the girl was thinking about a good conversation subject to break the ice. "Hehe~ your hands are rough, I guess you been training again?" Elise asked with a smile as she placed the palm of her hand underneath Tetsuko's own and looked down at it. "How have things been for you at U.A? Are you getting used to the academy? How about the food? Do you eat well enough? Get enough sleep?"
Small chatter, but at least it helped her avoid silence, and who knew how nervous she would get at that time. "It hasn't been easy on my side either~ Like we're only a few weeks into the curriculum and they are already overwhelming students with a lot of tests, and even practical training. Last week I had to assist a doctor to showcase I understood some of the medical practices they been teaching us. Some of my classmates were already talking about dropping out at this rate."
She shook her head briefly and grinned at Tetsuko as she continued with the same energetic tone as before. "But not me! If there are two good things about me then it's what's in my head-" She tapped the side of her head with her free hand and continued to hum happily. "And my stubborn determination."
She nodded her head a few times as she stated with a softer tone that suggested she only wanted Tetsuko to hear what would follow. "In the end~ I can't let this discourage me if I want to become a doctor who is so skilled she can save you no matter what fight you get into~"
She paused for a moment as she looked around their surroundings. "So where shall we go to first?" The girl asked curiously as she still realized there was something she had been curious about. "Say Tetsu~ Why did you enroll into that school? Is it because of that unmoving heart thingie? the Jikiwhashitta? Umm..." She scratched the back of her head awkwardly and spoke in an apologetic tone. "Hehe sorry~ I still can't pronounce it well~"
Still, it seemed that she might had been able to give Tetsuko inspiration already for a location for them to go to! "Tetsu~ Is there any place we can get a drink? I'm a little bit thirsty~ The car drive from Tokyo took way longer than I expected with the traffic."
Seemed as good an idea as any, getting something refreshing to drink while talking and walking around could do wonders, and with this weather staying hydrated was really important!
Still, Mustafu certainly was quite a different place from what she was used to! Although it was a large city like any other, it didn't rival the hustle and bustle of an insanely large and crowded place like Tokyo. In a way, this city was even refreshing to her! But perhaps that was also to be associated with the company she had with her?

It's been way too long. words: 1034 |
Recovering from her own awkward utterance, Tetsuko smiled at the sight of her dearest friend, cheerful as ever. There was a persistent warmth to Eli, something immutable and soothing that Tetsuko admired deeply about her. Tetsuko wasn't exactly antisocial herself, but even she didn't hold a candle to the beacon of amiability that was Elise. After all, the Shindou girl was a bit more volatile, and could sometimes find herself as cold and callous as the iron in her body, so someone like Elise, who wouldn't stop smiling so easily, was an admirable figure to her.
Tetsuko gave a half-grin at Eli's comments on the weather, recalling just how important hydration was for her. "Right, gotcha. Gotta keep hydrated, yeah?" Tetsuko replied, realizing that must've been the primary reason for Eli wearing that dress. Hydration, that was all. For some reason, the Shindou girl almost found that reason kind of... Disappointing. She didn't really know why, it was a fair enough explanation. Tetsuko's mind, however, was drawn to another thing with Eli's next question.
How did it look?
There was a brief pause from Tetsuko, like a stalling program as she froze up. Simple enough question, with an easy answer, but Tetsuko Shindou still briefly turned into a stunned mullet. She snapped out of it, there was no reason to hesitate! This was just her childhood friend asking a simple question! "U-Um yeah well, you know, I'm not that good with that kinda fashion, but uh..." Why was this so difficult? She felt her cheeks heat up a little, the body became restless as she delivered what should've been the simplest answer of her life. Tetsuko scratched the back of her head, finally giving her conclusion. "It looks good... I mean, you've always been able to rock that kinda stuff." She said almost dismissively, hopping back to her casual default.
What a weird mood she was in today.
With Tetsuko's answer given, there was little else to discuss before the began hanging out. Eli clasped the Japanese girl's hand before dragging her out of the plaza for their shenanigans, Tetsuko being reminded just how much she missed being able to walk hand-in-hand with Eli. Her hands were a lot softer and kinder than Tetsuko's own, which had become calloused and rough after years grasping a sword's hilt.
Eli allowed Tetsuko to take the lead on their expedition, to which the Japanese girl couldn't help but smile nostalgically. "Aye aye Eli, I'll lead the way. Heh, it'll be just like when you were new in town!" She declared, recalling the times when Eli had first arrived from Germany into this strange and foreign land. Tetsuko began leading them towards one of the main shopping districts. Plenty to buy and eat around there, so it was as good a place to start as many.
It seemed Tetsuko wasn't the only one taking notice of her own rough hands, immediately deriving the obvious cause. "I'm always training, Eli. The callouses just show I've gotten tougher." She said proudly, before being bombarded with a number of other questions. It was a little embarrassing having Eli stress over like this, but it didn't feel bad. Rather, there was something soothing about knowing Eli was so concerned about her. "Geeze, I'm doing fine! Still settling in, but I've been sleeping and eating good, alright? I can't really afford to change my diet, y'know." Tetsuko reassured, neglecting to mention that some of her sleeping habits may have been compromised by some late-night training sessions... Along with some troubling and conflicted thoughts about that hazy and concussed night all those weeks ago...
Things hadn't been too easy on Eli's side either, not that that was too much of a surprise. Medical school was kind of known for being the mother of all tough courses, after all. Tests and practicals and whatnot were to be expected, and expected to be monstrously difficult. "Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you." Tetsuko huffed, smiling at Eli as she continued, this time with her usual energetic spark as she insisted that she had no intention of giving up just yet.
Her iron heart swelled as Eli declared her intentions, Tetsuko's hand unconsciously gripping tighter to the person she'd never let go. The one who she could trust to be by her side at any time, no matter what she suffered. "That's my Eli!" Tetsuko declared with a friendly smile, words that were only supposed to be casual in tone, but felt so sweet on her lips, for whatever reason.
The Germanic lass made the reasonable inquiry as to where they were headed, so Tetsuko answered quickly. "Figure we'll stop by somewhere to grab a bite and a drink first, if you're down." Eli's next question was also a fair one, regarding the Shindou girl's reasons for choosing to attend the school of so-called 'Heroes', while also butchering the name of Tetsuko's sword art in the process.
"Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryuu." She corrected teasingly, smirking at the Germanic girl. "And honestly, it was my grandpa's idea at first. The Shindou family have always been righteous swordsmen, and with my ability, he thinks I could fulfill that same role, maybe even better than anyone before..." Tetsuko explained with a hint of sentimentality. "By becoming one of these 'Heroes', and training there, I could attain Fudoushin, and bring Jikishinkage-ryuu to new heights... But uh, I'm sure you're not too interested in all that." She suddenly said, deciding not to talk Eli's ears off about the sword school.
Moments later, Eli gave Tetsuko an idea of where they might go first, thanks to her thirst. "Somewhere with drinks, huh? Think I know a place that fits the bill." Tetsuko said with a nod, continuing to lead Eli along into the shopping district, heading first for the street most populated by food outlets of all sorts, with Tetsuko guiding them towards a quaint little place with bright decor. "There's a juice bar over here I hit up alot, they've got smoothies and all that. Basically the best thing on a hot Summer's day." Tetsuko would suggest, figuring it the perfect way to get them energized for a day ahead.

Elise Von Eisenberg Dress to impress~
It's easier to be nice, than it is to be mean. They were wise words that Elise was taught by her mother so many years ago. It all went back to the very root of her tenet about her dislike for violence. Simply said, she genuinely believed that rudeness and cruelty were simple detriments in socializing and that violence held no purpose at all in life. Elise nodded her head lightly in return to the grin Tetsuko made. She was glad her friend remembered just how important hydration was for her, so in the end, she rewarded her with a rather entertaining innuendo. "A girl like me has to stay wet, else I'll get into troubles~ Dry throats are so annoying to have." Elise remarked with a little giggle before turning her focus back to the ongoing conversation. When Tetsuko commented about not being good with fashion and hesitated to answer for a moment Elise's cheeks were on the verge of puffing up into a pout before hearing her childhood friend's comment, the words quickly bringing a bright smile onto her lips once more. "Good~ Because I picked this outfit for you." A sheepish smile lingered on her lips as she clearly seemed pleased at the answer Tetsuko had given her.
So the outfit was to her liking? That was very pleasing to her, especially the thigh-highs were selected with some strategic considering, since she did recall how sometimes Tetsuko's gazes seemed to very subtly drift toward them, and if the girl liked them? Then all the work had just received its reward!
As they started walking hand in hand Tetsuko commented about a distant memory, one that quickly brought back a smile to her lips. "Mhmm~ I still remember it quite well. After my parents moved here I struggled so much because I couldn't speak Japanese in the slightest, but then you came to save the day." Back then it was so difficult to just be able to get stuff done, like how in the world could she even ask directions properly without speaking the language?
Still, as Tetsuko commented that the callouses were a sign of her getting stronger and that she was always training Elise couldn't help but feel a little bit worried. Was her childhood friend trying a bit too hard to reach her ambition? Then again, it wasn't like her to scold Tetsuko for such determination, she knew it was part of the nature of her friend, a part of that personality that she admired so strongly, so all she could do was support her in a way only she could.
"True, you certainly do have a training addiction." Elise jested with a sheepish grin as she signaled for Tetsuko to stop for a moment, slowly raising her friend's hand she inspected the callouses further. Her hands had indeed gotten much rougher than before. Although she also 'felt' stronger, the state of her hands had clearly worsened than before, perhaps something she could remedy. With Tetsuko's hand at face level, Elise leaned in and gently gave a little lick over the palm of Tetsuko's hand, the gesture almost reminding one of a kitten before she leaned toward one of the girl's fingers and playfully give it a little nibble, leaning back as she hummed teasingly. "There we go~" As if on cue the callouses on the girl's hands had disappeared, the roughness softening significantly as she slipped her hand onto Tetsuko's own again and hummed teasingly. "Now you're all soft again without losing your strength. Hehe another reason to train extra hard again, maybe next time I'll give a smooch instead of a lick."
Teasingly poking out her tongue at the teasing remark she couldn't help but raise her free hand to her cheek while her gaze drifted to Tetsuko's stomach. "Maybe I should inspect there next~ hehe Tetsu's abs are kind of fun to rub~ makes me feel all tingly inside~" Still, realizing the embarrassment she was causing her cheeks flushed up lightly and she remarked with a little grin. "Hehe~ This is kind of embarrassing... not that I dislike it!" Elise commented reassuringly. Still, Tetsuko at least did a good job reassuring her that everything was going well at U.A currently, which made the lass feel a bit more at ease.
Still, when Tetsuko commented about her having her work cut out for her she smiled sheepishly in agreement, it was no understatement, the work was quite intense, but the approving comment that followed made Elise's cheeks flush up brightly. 'Her Eli', gods Tetsuko she really was adorkable at times like this with how oblivious she was...
"I got something to tell you." Elise began, her tone softening a little as she took a glimpse at Tetsuko to see her reaction. "I'll be going to U.A also~ Well, sort of." She admitted with a little giggle, scratching the back of her head with her free hand as she continued. "It seems that the school doctor is searching an assistant, and my school recommends getting additional experience in the field, so I applied for a transfer and seems the school agreed!" She grinned sheepishly as she eagerly waited to see her childhood friend's reaction. "Of course, the paperwork still has to be done and such~"
With their first destination made she nodded her head a few times, a grin spreading on her lips. "Drinks, smoothies and ice cream! the best place to start our adventure~"

A welcome surprise. words: 1061 |
Sometimes Tetsuko seriously wondered if Eli heard everything she said, given the girl's strange propensity for occasional innuendo. Or perhaps she really was just a closet pervert, yet an endearing one at that. Nonetheless, Tetsuko just smiled a little bashfully at her comment, unaware and unwilling to inquire if the innuendo was purposeful or not. "Yeah, exactly, dry throats suck..." She blurted out, acting unaware as she could to any slyer meaning to her friend's words. She couldn't evade Eli's ability to leave her a bit lost for words, however, as the conversation shifted toward the Germanic lass' choice of attire. Tetsuko was as honest as she could be, and even then, her words felt a little funny.
Not nearly as funny as she herself felt when Eli said she'd chosen the outfit specifically for Tetsuko.
"Y-You did? That's, uh..." What was she even to say in response? Why would Eli even dress up for her in the first place? It wasn't like they were... No, certainly not. "I mean, you know I'm not gonna be picky about what my friends wear, hehe..." The Shindou girl chuckled, somehow dissatisfied with her own answer. "But, uh, thanks." She said the word about as quickly as she could've and did not offer anything else alongside it, nor did she give any more thought to the matter of Eli's dress. Such things were far too confusing.
Where Tetsuko's relationship with Eli found its grounding was in the past, of the times when they'd first become best friends. Friends. That word was almost on loop in Tetsuko's head, like a kind of reminder to stop her from... Well, she didn't know what. As Eli shed more light on the past, the Japanese girl couldn't help but grin widely at the memories brought forth. "Yeah, it was an adventure... Pretty sure I picked up some German by the end of it." She reminisced, recalling just how much of a difficult task it had been to guide the non-native speaker around.
The past flowed forth, and what was once the future became the present. And everything in between shaped who they were now, from Eli's capacity for innuendo to Tetsuko's so-called training addiction. "Y'know, I'd say I'm just hard working." She retorted with a half-grin before signaled to stop by Eli, who inspected the calloused hand more closely. Was her medical friend going to give some kind of diagnoses? Was there something wrong with it she'd noticed? "Hm? What's up El-" Before another word left her mouth, her dearest took it upon itself to gently lick her hand! With motions resembling a feline, the German girl began to lick and nibble on her palm and digits! Tetsuko's cheeks reddened, her eyes wide with surprise. "Wh-What are you...?" She began to inquire, before coming to the realization herself. The roughness softened, like her hands had just encountered some high-grade moisturizer, and Tetsuko began to put the pieces together herself. The redness in ther expression lingered, however, as that didn't change what Eli had just done! "Geeze, gimme a break with the teasing some time..." Tetsuko said in a pouty but friendly tone. Interestingly enough, she did not choose to voice any reservations about the possibility of the so-called smooch.
It just wasn't worth mentioning, that was all. After all, there was no need to mention that she wouldn't be interested in a kiss on the hand from her friend. Nope, no sirree, that was definitely the only reason she didn't bring it up. Or keep thinking about it. Yep. Definitely the reason. No ulterior motives. None at all. Nooooooone-
Somewhere along the line Tetsuko lost her train of thought, brought back to reality by Eli's mention of feeling all tingly inside. What a weird sensation that must be, Tetsuko was boggled by what might bring it on. "What, you get that amazed by my abs?" The Shindou girl declared proudly, though the more she thought about it... The idea of Eli rubbing her abs was more than a little embarassing, as the German herself pointed out... But they were friends right? "Hey, it's not that embarassing, admiring the fruits of your friend's training! I mean, like... We're best friends, y'know? So I guess I... Wouldn't mind? Nevermind." Her tongue was hard to reign in today, speaking before Tetsuko could actually think about what she was saying. So she just shut up for now, dismissively waving her hand on to the next topic, something a bit lighter. School.
Well, not much really lighter, considering the workloads both girls were enduring. But they were managing, at least, and would soon have a little something to boost their own performances, with Eli's surprise announcement.
"Hm? What's up?" Tetsuko asked, tilting her head in curiosity. She didn't know what to expect, but to hear that Eli would be attending U.A. was a surprise to be sure! Tetsuko's eyes widened, speechless as Elise continued. Apparently, it was something like an internship or work experience with the school nurse. Once she was finished speaking, Tetsuko couldn't stop herself from bursting. "That's awesome, Eli!" She blurted out, continuing to yammer on without really realizing what she was saying until it was too late. "And to think I worried so much about being in different schools..." Quickly, Tetsuko's cheeks flushed red, her hand raised to scratch the back of her head awkwardly. "I mean, like, I wasn't really worried or anything like that but, y'know... Like, yeah, it'd suck if we didn't get to see each other in school anymore, so this is cool... You being in U.A...." She quickly clarified feelings that were already made abundantly clear by her reaction, completely bewildered by how dumb she was sounding. Weird day, must've been. Maybe if she repeated that over and over it'd become true.
Their first destination was found, a humble place for refreshing beverages. As they approached the counter, Tetsuko would slip her hand out of Eli's, and into her own pocket where she retrieved her wallet. "Whaddaya want, Eli? We're on my home turf, so I'll pay." She offered for convenience's sake, looking up at the menu herself. There were a number of fruity and tasty beverages for sale, the perfect treats for the summer heat.

Such a sly Tetsuko, avoiding her innuendo and leaving the burgundy-haired lass unsure whether to feel amused or disappointed that her childhood friend commented on dry throats of all possible things. "Mhmm they are one of the worst things dehydration causes." She answered, her tone as playful and energetic as ever as she shifted the conversation toward her choice of attire. The outfit had obviously been chosen because she believed it was pretty, and she obviously wanted to look at her prettiest for this date--- wait did she consider it a date? Inwardly she felt herself getting flustered once more, quickly correcting herself that this was a reunion instead of a date. But still, she couldn't help but keep her hope mustering, perhaps that positive outlook was one of the girl's greatest assets?
As the conversation developed further when Tetsuko expressed her surprise at the fact Elise had picked the choice of attire specifically for her, the lass nodded her head in affirmation as she eagerly waited to hear the lass' response to the revelation.
"Uwaah~ that obliviousness struck like a cannonball~" Elise muttered under her breath when the Shindou girl commented that she wasn't going to be picky about what her friends would wear. Fortunately, after that chuckle Tetsuko made the perfect save when she thanked her, instantly returning that light flustered blush to her cheeks and a smile as bright as the first rays of sunshine at dawn. "Hehe you're welcome~" Elise answered her happily
Friendship had always been an important aspect of her life, in the end, it was her friendship with Tetsuko that had given Elise the strength to stand tall and strong emotionally, but at the same time as their friendship found its grounding in the distant past, and they became best friends Elise felt her admiration for the girl turn into adoration and something more. But how could she properly convey those feelings without damaging their current relationship?
Elise giggled softly at Tetsuko's grinning remark of the memory, the calling of the event as an adventure being quite appropriate. "I kept trying to tell you things in German and English but in the end we had to survive through gestures, hehe was pretty fun now I think back about it." She reminisced with a smile, the memory making her think back about how she truly was grateful for the kindness Tetsuko had shown her that day.
"Hardworking is an understatement~" Elise remarked with a teasing grin in the wake of her treatment and Tetsuko's response to her comment. "Nu-uh~ In Europe they have this saying: People tease the ones they care about the most." Yet interestingly enough she didn't even voice any reservations about possibly getting smooched, which once more did wonders fuelling the Germanic lass her positive mood.
"Of course I get amazed by them~ Like you're so soft and yet so strong that it's almost scientifically impossible to have such a perfect union of both! And rubbing them gives a funny feeling in my fingertips~" She confessed with a sheepish smile, yet Tetsuko's remark brought forth a half-pout as she remarked that it was not unusual for best friends to do such a thing.
Again with the friends remark! But she didn't mention she wouldn't mind so--- Slipping closer to the girl she suddenly, and rather deftly sneaked a hand underneath Tetsuko's shirt, allowing a single finger to trail along the girl's abs as she grinned sheepishly. "Maybe I'll admire the fruits of your training in private later~"
And then the conversation shifted toward something lighter and more exciting, and judging from Tetsuko's response it was quite a positive announcement at that also! Her smile only brightened at the girl's reactions "Well~ Technically I'll be transferring in as a general studies student who will be focusing on medical education." Yet hearing the flushed reaction and the comment about being worried about being in different schools made Elise happily embrace her friend sideways in an innocent gesture of affection, nuzzling her cheek lightly against Tetsuko's own. "D'aww~ You were also worried? I was afraid that at this rate we would need to upgrade our mobile subscriptions~" Elise remarked in jest but as Tetsuko tried to correct herself she pouted playfully and shook her head in disapproval. "No take-backsies~"
As they arrived at their destination and she saw all the tasty beverages she looked at the menu for a bit before humming in response. "Umm for me something carbonated~ Fanta! mhmm and some orange-flavored ice-cream!" the girl remarked and as Tetsuko retrieved her wallet Elise brought her hands to her cheeks, a faux sign of embarrassment revealing itself as she hummed softly. "I'll guess I'll have to pay you back later then~ in.a.special.way~"
Oh gods, she really loved teasing her... even if those teasing remarks held some very special meaning to her.

Just teasing. words: 966 |
With no further clarification on the possible innuendo, Tetsuko was left fortunately able to (rather ignorantly) take the benefit of the doubt from her friend's words. It was an unfortunate habit of hers, unconsciously twisting her own perception that way, but Eli had a certain way of leaving Tetsuko little room to do that. The iron-blooded girl was left confused by her friend's continued stressing over the way she'd dressed for their outing. It was kinda funny, Eli was almost treating this like at was some kind of date! It wasn't though... Right? No, of course not! They were just friends, childhood friends at that, reuniting in a perfectly platonic manner. Besides, Tetsuko didn't know if she herself... Well, had those sorts of inclinations. A narrowminded focus on training had left various parts of her psyche somewhat unexplored, after all.
All she could be certain of was that she was thoroughly enjoying their time together. Eli's bright smiles were brilliant stars over Tetsuko's world, an assurance that her dearest friend was the same cheerful and pure-hearted lass she'd always been. Their friendship had always been one of the few things outside her sword art that Tetsuko treasured. Eli was both a beacon of the traits she admired, and a haven of the blessings she did not have, she was a positive influence and a loyal compatriot. Tetsuko wouldn't trade their friendship for the world, no matter what circumstances pushed them apart. They'd been bound together from the moment they were met, in hoops of friendship that may have very well become red threads of fate...
That same initial encounter was a fondly recollected memory for the both of them, in spite of how obviously awkward and difficult it had been at the time. "Yeah, that's right... We basically invented our own sign language by the end of it." Tetsuko recalled, such fond reminiscence painted a smile on her face. From their first encounter, they'd been like peas in a pod, entirely understanding of one another even without words. It was just yet another aspect of their friendship that made Tetsuko treasure it so much; its ties to their pasts, interwoven into their histories.
Since then, they'd grown even more comfortable with each other, especially in Eli's case, with how often the Germanic lass decided to tease the poor Shindou girl. Though apparently, it was customary over in Europe! "Bah, things are always weird over there." She'd retort with a snicker, joyfully engaging in the playful banter with her foreign comrade. They'd always had plenty to talk about with their differences in origin, and it just made their unique bond that much more valuable.
Tetsuko's protests to any teasing were ultimately fruitless, as the very next topic ended up being her own body! Eli really could be a bit of a perv sometimes, after all... Her thorough description of how great it felt to touch Tetsuko's abs had her pride quickly shifting into embarrassment at all the flattery. "Y-Yeah, well, happy to impress..." She uttered, stubbornly holding onto her pride, not that it could be maintained much longer. In what seemed like a bout of boldness, Eli took it upon herself to suddenly touch Tetsuko's abs, without warning or even asking permission! "H-Hey!" Tetsuko stammered out helplessly, cheeks flushing red before Eli made yet another suggestively teasing comment about enjoying things later. Did she ever stop being so mischievous and playful? "Geeze, you're really like a dirty old man sometimes, Eli." Tetsuko replied, flashing her a half grin. That's right, Eli was just teasing her. She had to remember that. It was the only thing that distracted from her rapidly her heart was beating after that touch against her body...
Just teasing.
But that didn't change their affection for one another, and that red thread was given a hearty tug with the news that they'd both be attending U.A., albeit for different reasons. Eli clarified that she'd be transferring in as a gen ed student specializing in medicine, but whatever, same difference as far as Tetsuko was concerned. What was far more important was the prospect of her childhood friend following into yet another schooling experience, 3 more years of education for them to share! Her accidental little revelation of her own worry had Eli taking advantage, hugging Tetsuko and teasing her about her words. All the Shindou lass could do was pout a little, in attempt to stubbornly hold her pride. "I guess I might've been a little worried..." She said quietly. For a girl who held honesty in such high regard, Tetsuko was awfully dismissive when it came to her own feelings.
As they got to their first step, Eli gleefully proclaimed her rather orange order. "Heh, good choice! Japanese oranges are a cut above the rest." She said with an odd sense of national pride. Once the Shindou girl had offered to pay, she found herself once again a victim of her Germanic compatriot's verbal jabs. "Oh, no, it's fine, really! You don't need to pay me back at all." Tetsuko said, trying to play innocent and as dense as the iron abundant in her blood. She wasn't sure how much of Eli's teasing she could endure at this rate, at least, not without abandoning those two words.
Just teasing.
The slight flush of her cheeks betraying her true feelings, Tetsuko would place her own order, a simple fruity and tropical smoothie, before gesturing to Eli toward a small table for two, where they could await their snacks. "So what else have you been up to, other than school?" Tetsuko inquired, wondering how her friend had been getting since she'd seen her last, and trying to drown out other creeping thoughts with some small talk.

While there came no clarification on the possible innuendo she had made, Elise still inwardly felt somewhat troubled by the current state of things. Despite the cheerful smile upon her lips and the energetic demeanor of the girl the burgundy-haired lass felt herself somewhat stressed. Even if she knew it was a reunion, a childish and somewhat selfish side of her wanted to consider this an opportunity for something more. Certainly, they were friends, ones who had forged their friendship through their entire childhood and became the best of friends, but did that mean she would be forced to keep those feelings in a platonic way? Surely not, a wise person once said that love knew no boundaries!
But then how? How in the world could she properly express her feelings in a way even someone as dense at Tetsuko would get it? As she wondered about that question the girl also thought back about the origins of their friendship. In a way Tetsuko had that type of confidence and determination that she had always longed for, that headstrong nature that made the girl unwilling to bend when she was chasing something she believed to be just. But there was more to Tetsuko other than just that. To her Tetsuko often showed a warmth and kindness nobody else had done, a protective nature that made her feel precious, it made her feel wanted... loved even.
So when was it that those feelings started to blossom into more? When she started to look at Tetsuko not only as someone who was her best friend, but also the one she loved romantically? Now she thought back about it, perhaps it all truly escalated during their final days at their previous school. The way how Tetsuko had stood up for her once more, even having gone as far as taking a beating for her sake. It was in the wake of that kiss that she realized, that whenever she thought about Tetsuko her heart became flustered with joy and she realized just how precious the girl was to her. She just wished she could tell her those feelings properly, yet for some reason, it was much more difficult than she had initially expected.
"Hehe indeed~ since then it's like you can almost guess what I'm thinking just from reading my expression~" the girl answered with a smile yet after a moment found herself musing softly. "Now if only you were wearing your glasses so you could read them properly~" Elise teasingly remarked with a little poke of her tongue. It was true, they certainly had this unusual affinity for being able to grasp what the other might be thinking, at least to a certain degree.
"I think Japan isn't without its weird traditions either~" Elise remarked with a snicker, recalling just how much of a nightmare eating with chopsticks could be at first, it was almost like a skill entirely of its own that she had needed to master! Then again, she also found it quite amusing that some food made it like a tradition to slurp, since it was meant to show how delicious the food was!
"And they are quite impressive~" Elise whispered mischievously as she trailed her fingers over Tetsuko's abs before retreating to leave the flustered girl grinning in return, the words earning a playful pout of the girl. "I'm way too young and energetic for that comparison~" Elise remarked with a grin of her own, all too aware that she was slightly older than Tetsuko in age.
Still, the quiet whisper that she had indeed been a little bit worried made Elise smile happily at the fact she had not been the only one to be troubled by that sad departure. Even if they called each other daily, it still didn't feel the same, and now? Now they might even be able to see each other every day! Actually, could she perhaps convince Sophie to help her get the school to make her share a room with Tetsuko?
"Mhmm~ They certainly are!" Still, Tetsuko's denial of her offer to get paid back made Elise pout once more, seemingly dissatisfied as she shuffled a foot on the ground. "And here I was looking forward to giving you a massage..." poor Elise, seems she really was out of luck for the time being...
Still, that slight flush made Elise smile happily, seemingly at least glad that she had succeeded in getting Tetsuko embarrassed as the two of them took their seats. Fortunately, it was a small table, so she could still enjoy the playful teasing to its fullest.
"I been practicing some new piano scores during my free time, and doing a few more experiments involving new medicine I been researching." The girl explained with a smile as she looked at Tetsuko and asked with a sheepish grin. "What about you?"
Still, in the back of her mind she couldn't help but wonder: How could she possibly make Tetsuko realize her feelings?
