Darren had been good on the first day of classes and got here on time. His mother made him promise. However, the first day of classes came with getting their timetables, and the next day he had math at 8am for two hours. “Miss me with that shit”, the young delinquent thought, so when the next day came he showed up to school at 9, having spent a welcome extra hour in his bed. He was to move inside one of the dorms during the week, so he cherished opportunities to laze in bed like this that he probably wouldn't get living on campus.
There was someone at the entrance, so Darren simply jumped a side wall out of view with his quirk, landed brutally on the grassy field surrounding the building and ninja’d his way inside the building. He ran all the way to the building, checking his surroundings, moving from cover to cover like a hunter tracking his prey or someone much too familiar with skipping classes.
He noticed an open window on the second floor. With a calculated blast of his power, he threw himself at it and grabbed the edge. The blonde kid pulled himself up and checked the room. It was an empty storage room. He tried the door; it was locked. Perfect, thought Darren. He arranged a few boxes and soon laid lazily on them. His plan was to sleep away the rest of the math class and show up later for English. Satisfied, he crossed his arms behind his head and began to dream of kinetic sheep, or whatever delinquents with a kinetic quirk skipping math class dreamed of.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy In a completely opposite fashion, Aki had meant to go to classes; Being in classes was more fun than doing nothing at all; but the inside of Yuuei was a concrete labyrinth to the girl. All the indications that told other students where they were, where they were meant to be going, when they were meant to be somewhere, had the wildling girl completely and hopelessly lost. So, while Aki knew that she was meant to be learning more about numbers, she couldn't find her way there. Having ended up outside Yuuei, looking in through the windows to see the different classes in progress - trying to find the class that she belonged to - Aki saw someone from her class. The reason that she noticed Darren, was because he behaved like prey. Ducking from cover to cover, attempting to move unseen. This immediately had Aki's instincts flaring. The girl wanted to hunt. It was the weird boy that always slept everywhere. Darren, she believed he was called. Perhaps he was playing a game with someone. Aki, most certainly, could play too! Then he could also show here where class was!Following his tracks happily, the girl was on the prowl. Although, unlike Darren, she was far more adept at hiding her tracks and staying hidden in the process, likely giving the boy no indication that he was currently being stalked. Following immediately in his tracks, the girl was waiting for the opportune moment to pounce on him. Albeit, such a moment never came. In a display of power that Aki had never seen in a human before, Darren leapt to the second floor of the building, pullimg himself in a window. The amazement only stuck with her for a few moments. How on earth was she going to get up there to catch her prey..? Perhaps if she could climb that tree......It took a while for Aki to climb up the tree. It took even longer for her to verify that this distance, from the branch to the window, was one that she could reliably jump through. In a leap of faith, the girl found her way through the open window. Landing onto the floor with a loud thud, the girl rolled forwards, straight into Darren's arranged boxes, knocking them - and likely him - over. Peeking up from the absolute mess that she now found herself in, Aki exclaimed loudly; Loud enough that had someone been outside the door, they would've heard her clearly. "Aki catch Darren! Aki win game! Woo!" Beaming brightly, the wildling girl stared at Darren with enthusiasm and happiness... Such a simple creature Aki was.

Darren’s sleep was short lived. He did not dream of kinetic sheep, but he did get the groundwork done who had the best rack in his class. He hadn’t reached an answer yet when his peace was brutally interrupted by one of the aforementioned girls.
Others would have hoped she couldn't read minds, but Darren will have you know he is a normally constituted sixteen years old with raging hormones and he'll think what he damn pleases.
The more pressing matters were who and how and why and the fact he was sprawled on the floor under cardboard boxes, following the girl’s cheerful destruction of his makeshift mattress.
Cheerful is one thing the girl was in spades. He remembered she was in his class. He did not place her in his little ranking yet. Her name was Aki something Somethingsomething, he “recalled”, or Aki for short.
Loud was another thing she was. Very loud, much too loud, so Darren sprang up all at once and his hand found itself covering the girl's mouth real quick as he went “Shhhhhhutthefuckup”. He stayed frozen in this position, listening, until he determined there were no footsteps approaching.
“Fuck, you scared me. Don't you have any idea to skip a cla--”
Again, hand on mouth, tense listening and no respect for personal space. This time though, Darren heard footsteps.
“Fuck fuck fuck -- You had a way in, I trust you have a way out? I'll catch you if you don't, just jump or we’re both fucked!” Without waiting for any sort of answer, Darren leaped out of the window, feathering his landing with his power. His instincts worried that Aki would make for a poor scapegoat, so he waited for the girl.
She wasn't gonna denounce him now was she? She was skipping just like him, yes?

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The boy reacted incredibly weirdly to having just lost a game. Perhaps he was simply a sore loser. Aki didn't quite understand what was going on with how he was speaking. The universal I am holding your mouth, therefore you must be quiet did somehow make sense to her though. Perhaps she was meant to be quiet so that he could explain the rules of the new game? There certainly was a lot of fuck in there. Perhaps this was some kind of different game? A game called fuck? Tilting her head to her side, she watched him curiously, completely oblivious to the fact that the footsteps outside was an issue what so ever. Footsteps generally meant people and people weren't too bad. Not like the footprints of a wild animal. Those were much more chaotic! The only thing that really stuck with the girl, was how Darren began moving. To the wildling, they had first been playing a game of evasion and hide. Now they were playing a game much akin to tag! "Okay! Aki play too!" The girl responded gleefully, allowing Darren to have somewhat of a headstart towards the window...Following right in his wake, the girl leapt out into the tree, grasping onto the branches. Much to the girl's surprise, the boy had landed down below on the ground without so much as an issue. It caught her curiousity. In the little tribe in the woods, there wasn't an individual who had the power to do such a thing. Immediately Darren earned some respect, because that skill would be excellent for hunting something from above. Hopping from branch to branch to get a little lower, as soon as she was at a height she felt comfortable with, Aki once more leapt at Darren. No, the girl pounced at him. The girl was moving around like a wild animal, almost seeming more feline than human in these moments. Aki's intent to get her hands on him was quite evident from the glow in her eyes. The girl was chasing him as if he was prey. This was the game. Perhaps if Darren was smart about it, he could abuse her playful nature to get her away from whoever was about to bust him for skipping classes?

See, the thing about breaking a fall is that you had to do just that: break a fall. What goes up must come down, and what goes up high must come down hard. Most people, when they have to break a fall, only have the option to do it on the cold hard ground, and that usually comes with the downfall of losing all your speed at once, which has the unfortunate side effect of breaking all your bones. This is why, historically, humans have always preferred falling on mattresses than concrete.
However, Darren mocks your laws of gravity. Or at least he tells himself he does. Like any human being or thing with mass, this blonde dumbass is just as subject to gravity as anyone, but he has a neat trick. See, he can create instantaneous momentum in his body, and the fun thing about momentum is that if you have momentum in two opposing directions at once -- which isn’t usually possible, which is why humans have developed their own neat tricks like parachutes to create drag, a remarkably close second to literal superpowers -- they cancel each other out. The bad news is, a contact with the ground at high speed also does that. It creates instantaneous momentum equal to the momentum of your fall, therefore abruptly stopping it in a process commonly known as crashing.
All these long-winded explanations full of forced unfunny jokes by an author who thinks he's the shit to say that Darren’s quirk allowed him to crash on the ground, but in mid-air. It seemed stupid, but it opened a lot of possibilities. Better fall thrice from a story's height than once from three stories. That's how Darren break his falls with Kinetic Jutsu.
To an observer, it looked like he was a driving student on his first lesson slamming the brakes three times in a row. That’s also kind of what it felt like to Darren. It was something between a crash and slamming on the brakes three times.
He did jump from pretty high up, however, and as much speed as this quirk-simulated braking-crashing shaved, he still had to land on his hands and feet to absorb the impact. With such a quirk and such a reckless way to use it, it was no wonder that Darren was one tough bastard.
Breaking from these self-centered considerations on his quirk, and still a little shaken by the landing, another problem was divebombing on him at breakneck speeds. He saw the girl, who was now apparently chasing him -- how he got himself in such a situation while he was sleeping not a minute ago would still escape him for a while -- literally pouncing on him from the tree with a glow in her eyes that Darren had only seen in a few opponents before. His fighting instincts kicked in and he barrel-rolled away from the incoming wildling with a sideways activation of his quirk, pushing himself up with his arm as he rolled and stumbling upright with the help of a calculated blast of kinetic jutsu in the torso. He turned on himself once or twice before he got a proper hold of his balance, and while it was pretty impressive that he was able to regain his footing after rolling on the ground so fast, it really looked more like someone just pulled him up by the collar and threw him on his feet than a graceful recovery.
Whatever, Darren had time to think and see what was happening around him now, and what he saw was that that in order to break her own divebombing fall, she used an awkward but surprisingly effective roll to absorb most of the momentum and was back on her feet in a manner much more gracious than his. It sure was funny how people without Kinetic Jutsu broke their falls, Darren thought.
Anyway, the girl was now on to him again. He recalled hearing her say something about playing too, and right now it looked like she was chasing after him. He also recalled that the whole reason he went through that whole mess of breaking falls and dodging divebombing chicks was to escape the footsteps he heard earlier. While the girl was remarkably silent in her movements, he was significantly less so and whoever those footsteps belonged to was bound to hear him, and that was before even getting into the whole mess of cardboard boxes he was also bound to find.
The situation called for a tactical retreat, also known as hauling ass, so Darren hauled ass. If she really did think they were playing tag or something, that crazy chick would follow anyway. Now that he thought of it, between Shorty, Blondie, the beehive bitch (it’s an ‘affectionate nickname’ he says) and this one, he was meeting a lot of crazy chicks lately.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy A huntress gained a good understanding of what prey was capable of. Their movements, their breathing, their rhythm in life. There were physical laws that every type of prey needed to adhere to. So with how their positions currently were, with the momentum they had both carried, Aki was completely certain that she was mere moments away from catching Darren once again. It was spreading a kind of disappointing feeling through Aki's body. Not because capturing her prey was disappointing. It was because this little exercise lacked the thrill of the hunt. Potentially also because it was viewed as too easy from Aki's side. The point of no return had been reached. Darren could no longer escape the pounce... Or so, Aki had figured. In movements that the girl didn't understand at all, Darren was suddenly out of reach. Having swiped at him for a tackle, the girl only had a few hairs between her fingers. The sudden movement, removing the target that Aki was certain she'd land on, also meant the girl needed to immediately alter her landing. Landing on the back of her feet, the girl's forward momentum had her roll onto her shoulder, over onto her back. The landing was relatively rough, causing a few soft groans leaving Aki. Despite this, her landing was also quite agile. The girl had made almost no sound in landing, almost like she hadn't been there at all. Staring at Darren's backside as the boy began moving around, Aki began chasing him immediately. Instinctively the girl was incredibly confused. It wasn't a conscious confusion. The thought how had Darren moved like that never went through her mind, she was completely focussed on the hunt. Instead it was the girl's body not understanding what had just happened. The confusion was equally as quickly replaced with excitement. Their little game had suddenly become incredibly interesting. Smelling the scent of his hair that she had pulled from the swipe, the girl was trying to understand her prey better. Placing the hairs onto her tongue, Aki was becoming one with the hunt... "Aki best huntress there is! Aki will catch Darren!" A slight change began occuring in the girl. The tips of her flaming red hair started to have a silvery grey appearing. The color of her eyes seemingly draining in the same way. Across her skin, strange markings began appearing in the same color of grey. At first this transformation was hardly visible, yet over a couple of seconds it began speeding up. The color of her hair and eyes. The strange symbols on her body, they were becoming more and more apparent. The girl's quirk was activating...!
Aki herself wasn't entirely aware of how her quirk functioned. It wasn't something that she had used all too often. In the rare circumstances where her quirk had been activated, she had so little practice or understanding with it, that she was equally as likely to hurt herself as she was hurting someone else. In short, the girl had no control over anything.

Even as he was running away, Darren was still Darren, and after a few seconds, he turned to run back-first so he could catch a better glimpse of his pursuer. It reduced his speed, of course, so from time to time he leaped backward with small bursts of his power. It looked like he was being pulled by an invisible string in his back, like a bad sentai show whose wirework was a little too obvious. As he was not running in the direction humans were supposed to run, he couldn’t use big blasts of Kinetic Jutsu. He knew he wouldn’t stick the landing if he went too wild.
The girl was about his age. He’d seen her in class before. She seemed a little weird then, and very weird now. She was laughing -- she clearly enjoyed chasing him, which he couldn’t decide if it was flattering or terrifying. She moved like a wild beast, with a fiery look about her that matched her fiery eyes and fiery hair.
Or at least, used to match. Darren didn’t catch her licking the handful of his own hair she managed to get her hands on -- which would have definitely weirded him out even further -- so all he saw was her reddish hair progressively turning silver.
“Hey! When the fuck did you turn into a grandma?”
Upon closer inspection, it was in the eyes too. And her skin.
“And when did you got contact lenses?… And tattoos?”
For all his jokes, he was born in a world of quirks and it wasn’t dumb. If weird shit was happening, it was probably a quirk. With a renewed sense of danger, he turned to run in the right direction again and leaped again, this time with enough punch to it to qualify as a half-power activation of his quirk. He stuck the landing, tumbling only a little, kind of like he'd just jumped off a moving bike.
The girl did seem like she only wanted to play tag -- which was weird in and of itself for a high-schooler -- but now she was bringing her quirk into it. You did first, a little voice in his head told him, that he promptly silenced with threats of eviction. Whatever, now that there was some distance between the wild boy and the wildling, he couldn’t help but curiously peep over his shoulder to see what the girl’s quirk was.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The girl began feeling a little strange as she was chasing after Darren. His movements were interesting, though there was something going on within herself that she didn't quite understand. A strange feeling that spread throughout her body, awakening something that had been slumbering. It was a sensation that she had only felt a few times before. Before Aki knew it, winds were beginning to gather around her. Waving her hands at the winds, the winds were clearly reacting to her presence. Perhaps they were even partially coming there because Aki was, unknowingly, commanding them to come to her side. This complete change in natural phenomena, clearly startled the girl. The first bit of waving had been curious, testing. However, as winds kept gathering around Aki without any reprieve, panic began setting in. The waving of the girls hands became faster. In the direction that the girl was waving, a gust of wind very rapidly tore against the grass, moving a solid eight meters before dissipating. Aki's grey hair was flying in every which direction. The wind was swirling dangerous close to her. Before the girl knew it, the winds were eating away at her. Several small cuts into her cloth, even thin lines into her skin. In this panicked haze, Aki simply began unleashing wind in whatever direction that was away from herself. A slicing gale into the ground in front of her cut up the lawn, strewing grass and dirt everywhere. A slicing gale behind her, pushed the girl stumbling forwards, the winds following her like an angry swarm of bees. A very angry swarm of bees. "Aki does not like! Aki wants it to stop!" The girl called out, her quirk having very easily rendered herself completely immobile. Out of control, the girl was incapable of reigning her own power back in. Instead, she was panicked and scared.Every passing moment, the gale winds around her grew ever more ferocious. Simultaneously, since it was an activation of her quirk, it was digging into her stamina at a rapid pace. Tiring her out faster than she knew how to combat. Panting, gasping, despite being surrounded by all this air, it almost felt like she couldn't breathe. Hunching over ever so slightly, it didn't seem like there was any ends to these winds. The girl was clearly struggling. Perhaps it was very rare that Aki managed to activate her quirk..? One thing was for certain; The lawn wouldn't be pristine and spotless if this wind kept up.

Darren’s theory that if weird shit was happening, a quirk was involved proved itself true. Unbeknownst to him, however, Aki didn’t need her quirk to cause weird shit to happen, so when her quirk did get involved, the craziness of the shit went up exponentially.
It was a flashy quirk -- lots of UA students had flashy quirks -- and it seemed like she had absolutely no control over it. Apparently, by turning into a grandma, she was able to control winds or something. Aki, now he remembered, that was her name. Hurricane Aki.
By now, the blonde delinquent had stopped running and was admiring the chaos. The girl was sending fierce gusts of sharp wind in every direction. Even on herself, apparently. Was she that bad at controlling her quirk? How did she even get into UA in the first place? So many questions.
After a few seconds of contemplation, he began to realize that the girl really was in trouble. She was cutting herself, making a mess of the lawn and most importantly, screaming. He couldn’t make out what the girl was saying. Shit, if she keeps that up, we’re gonna get caught.
The blonde delinquent made his way back towards the girl. He stopped about twelve meters away, judging that it was a safe enough distance to not expose himself to the slicing winds, but close enough that he could shout something and maybe get heard.
“TURN OFF YOUR GODDAMN QUIRK BEFORE WE GET CAUGHT!”
Not very helpful, but there wasn’t much more he could do right now, and he never expected that someone who got accepted in a heroics school couldn’t control her power. He considered the option of jumping in, grabbing the girl and hauling ass, but the principle that the eye of the storm was the safest place to be didn’t seem to apply to the hurricane girl’s power. He’d like to keep his uniform intact for at least a few weeks, lest his mom would be on his case like she’d never been. He wondered what would get him yelled at more: getting caught skipping class, or tearing his uniform on his second day.
50/50, he wagered, waiting to see if the girl’s quirk would stop on its own. If not, he was gonna have to do something. Well, I am in hero school after all. I'm supposed to save people.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The winds that were still wrapped around the girl's body began to sharpen every movement. All the girl's energy was being forcefully poured into the element of wind, and unfortunately Aki wasn't sure of how to stop it. With the winds having begun to more seriously tear away at her cloth and skin, the desperation was becoming apparent. While unable to quell the voice of the wind, Aki had learned enough to somewhat direct the winds away from herself. That is, as long as there wasn't too much wind built up. The best the girl could figure out how to do, was direct the wind at something. So the very tree that Aki had climbed to reach the room Darren had been napping in, became the target for the girl's wrath. Several gushes of wind cut into the tree. Deep cuts tore into the wood. The sound of the wind cutting into the bark was akin to that of foresters chopping down a tree with axes. With every gust that left Aki's vicinity, the less violent the winds around her remained. It was a strange ebb and flow, where Aki was fighting to seize control before her quirk ran too rampant. The more wind Aki had to control, the more powerful and erratic every gust became. The less wind, the more control the girl gained, but the power was likewise lost. The tree wasn't taking too kindly to Aki's abuse - but it remained standing all the same. Bending over forwards, Aki was panting heavily. Sweat dripping from her forehead, her whole body quivering. Even if it had only been a few moments of extremely intense quirk usage, Aki was utterly spent. A singular breath of wind remained around her. Aki was learning by doing. This was the first time that the girl had encountered wind. A singular gust, a singular breath. Peeking towards Darren, Aki saw how concerned he was. It wasn't an emotion that she inherently understood, worrying mainly for herself. Winded, having difficulty breathing, the final breath of wind under Aki's control was directed towards Darren. Perhaps the girl was out of her mind, or perhaps she had been aware of the conditions of this one breath. Rather than being a slicing gale, it was a gentle cool breeze - Harmless to everything except his haircut... "Is okay, is okay now.. Aki.. Aki got it under ---"The tree had decided to take revenge. The enormous branch which Aki had climbed on, sat on, had been the victim of a few too many cuts. It had been dangling insecurely for a few moments. Now, in the middle of Aki's sentence, when the wildling girl had been most distracted, it had relinquished it's grip on the tree proper. Swinging sideways like an enormous pendulum, on a bit of branch remained attached to the tree. Just enough that gravity and rotational force made it like a wooden boxing glove. Smacking Aki sideways across her face, the confident I've got it under control expression never died from her face, even if the light in her eyes had disappeared immediately. Smacking onto the lawn and getting a face-full of grass, Aki was officially knocked out. With her lack of consciousness, the grey colors; The tattoos, the hair, the eyes, they all returned to their normal red. Darren was given a rather gruesome insight into a very rare state of Aki; Peace. When Aki was at peace like this, something was clearly wrong.

Just like most hurricanes, Aki came and went, making a mess of everything until it went away, as an eerie sense of calm draped itself over the remains of civilization.
Where she went, things were left in a state of desolation. Her gusts of wind kicked up grass and dirt everywhere. The one who suffered the most was the poor tree, on which the girl redirected most her tempest.
In the middle of the aftermath were standing Aki and Darren. The first one was completely winded, quivering like a leaf in the wind -- ironically. She sent the last breeze on Darren, ruffling his blonde hair. He was left half-impressed, half-dumbfounded. He had seen some crazy quirk shit in his day, like a girl who was literally a bloody beehive or a dude with boulder arms, but never before he’d seen such a spectacle of uncontrolled chaos. Aki was, quite literally, a force of nature.
All force of nature that she was, though, Mother Nature was stronger. Or maybe it was karma; in any case, one of the branches seceded from the tree and crashed down on the wildling’s head. She was already in quite the state of disarray, and it was the final straw. She went to sleep with the shock almost peacefully -- compared to what had transpired here a second ago, anyway. With her face lying down in the grass, her hair turned back to normal.
“…What the fuck just happened?”
No answer came from the unconscious human hurricane. Darren sighed. At least he didn’t tear his uniform. He was not the nicest person around -- many would even call him a dick to his face and he’d admit they wouldn’t be so wrong -- but even he wouldn’t flee the scene leaving an unconscious, bleeding girl who might be suffering a head trauma laying there. He went to her, rolled her on her back, and checked her injuries. Nothing but shallow cuts, thankfully. Surprisingly, the delinquent was half-decent at this, though given the number of fights he'd been in, maybe it wasn't so surprising that he knew injuries well.
Sliding a hand below the girl’s neck and another below her knees, he lifted her up and carried her to the school infirmary, princess-style. Except this particular princess was dead weight, one of her arms hanging loosely, and drooling at the corner of her mouth.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Aki was out cold. Compeltely cold. The smack of the tree had been swift, merciless, harsh. Combined with how rapidly she had been expending her energy, the little human typhoon had met her match and been utterly defeated. Being carried in a near bridal style, Aki was, fortunately, a rather lightweight and thus easy to carry. At first, both of her arms were placed on top of her torso, relatively under control. However, almost as Darren took the first step, it slid off to the side and dangled freely in mid air. Head was lightly bobbing from side to side. The girl's clothes were absolutely shredded. While the injuries to the girl's skin were relatively shallow, the same wasn't the case for her clothes. The girl's sleeves were practically torn off completely, hanging on by only a few threads at this point. Over the girl's back, the shirt was also practically torn, revealing superficial cuts into her backside from the wind. At the top of her torso, one could almost peer down into her cleavage. In short, her outfit was barely an outfit anymore. Aki looked like the victim of a horrible crime... Perhaps that is why certain passerby's shot Darren a couple of worried looks, as he carried the redheaded wildling to the infirmary.Perhaps as Darren correctly suspected, Aki was not horribly injured. The few shallow cuts were simply rubbed with salve to prevent them burning painfully or becoming infected. The whole checkup lasted only a few moments, before the two of them were alone......but it didn't take long for Aki to come to. Snapping her eyes open, Aki sat up, in a panic. Because the girl had been knocked out, she had no clue where she was. Having never been moved while unconscious, it was a terrifying experience. "Where Aki?! What going on?! Darren?!"

As he walked through the campus to the infirmary, which took him the better part of a quarter hour given that the girl was dead weight, Darren began to realize the situation he was in.
Namely, that he was carrying a bloody, unconscious girl with shredded clothes and drooling at the mouth. It looked hella fucking suspicious, as far as he could tell from the look people gave him. A hot one too, his subconscious couldn’t help but to remind him -- as he needed more to be embarrassed about, look at these thighs, man. Definitely a cardio bunny. Shut the fuck up, answered Darren.
She really didn’t look like a cardio bunny at all, though. What was left of her clothes made her look more like an anachronism than one of them leggings-clad running freaks, really. It looked like one of these pictures of traditional Ainu attire in his history books -- about the only books Darren had ever read. Not that he thought of it, that could very well be the explanation. Maybe she lived in a backward Hokkaido tribe before? He remembered reading that when quirks first came into being, some people took it as a divine gift -- or punishment -- and retreated from society.
His musings on the girl’s origins were interrupted when he got to the infirmary. The nurse gave him a weird look, treated the girl and understandably, made him explain himself.
Darren sighed. He had enough experience lying to the authorities to know when to be honest. “Well, I was skipping math, sleeping in a storage room, when she divebombed on me. We heard someone coming so we ran away, then she made a tornado, wrecked the fuck out that tree over here,” he gave a nod in the direction of the tree, “and a branch fell over her head.” -”What about her clothes?” -”Tornado too.” The nurse raised her eyebrows again.
Darren knew his story was ironclad, as it wasn’t a story at all and the wrecked tree bore the same kind of cuts as the girl’s clothes. By now, she had been changed out of them and into an oversized boy’s shirt from the UA uniform, which had the side effect of reminding Darren he left his jacket in the storage room. He was gonna have to get it back later if he didn’t want an ass-whooping from his mom.
Aki looked almost cute sleeping peacefully -- he had been asked to stay by her side, and he didn’t mind not being sent to attend the rest of math class, but such peace wouldn’t last long. As soon as the girl awoke, she was back to herself, standing up all at once in a way that almost reminded Darren of his quirk. She was panicked, too.
He tried his best reassuring smile, but he was a delinquent. “Yes, it’s me, Darren. You’re in the infirmary, cause you’re the first person I saw who managed to get knocked out by a tree. Congrats!” he said with a thumbs up and the last word in English, as if that wasn’t confusing to the wildling.
“You get a recovery present too,” he added, tossing a smartphone on her lap. He learned just now that the school had been handing these outs to all students since this morning, and he and Aki were the last one to get theirs. His was already turned on and connected to the 1-C chatroom, where he was already starting to shitpost.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Aki was quite dizzy, so quickly getting to her feet had her wobbling for a few moments, before she plopped straight back down onto the bed, sitting on her rear. Letting out soft groans of displeasure, the girl rubbed the bump that had grown where the stump had knocked her over the head. It was painful. A few short moments went by where Aki was squirming to get up. Failing in one way or another. Plopping back down. After a few loops of repeating the same thing, the girl seemed to surrender to the bed. It was a fairly comfortable place to lie down after all. When things were finally back under control, Aki was cautiously listening to what Darren had to say. Most of it the girl didn't understand. Being knocked out by a tree was an accomplishment? To her that sounded a little weird. So, questioning him in a quiet tone, Aki's red eyes met with his.. "Congrats? Aki did good?" Tilting her head to the side, she was hoping for an explanation that could make it all make sense. However, instead she was given a new toy. A present. A smart phone. Aki had seen countless people using phones before. They were practically always aplenty out in public. The girl had never had one for herself though. Nor was she having much of a clue of what to do with it. Curiously, Aki poked the smartphone with her index finger, keeping it in her lap, as if picking it up was going to undeniably hurt in one way or another. A few moments passed, where Aki was looking at how Darren used the phone, attempted to copy, without getting any results. Mostly because the phone wasn't even turned on. Since the girl couldn't currently get out of bed and do something more interesting, the following question came naturally after all other options had been exhausted. "...How work? Aki doesn't know..." Aki admitted in a defeated tone. It was so common for other people of her age to be using phones, internet, laptops and all sorts of other technology. The most technologically advanced thing Aki had in her possession until this point, was her compound bow..."Friend help Aki?.. Teach phone? Please?" Aki looked to Darren quietly, the phone still in her lap. It was an honest, quiet, sweet request. All the things that had happened before this point, mattered not to her. There had been no blame, no anger, only confusion. Aki was as pure as they'd come, and wearing only an enormous t-shirt in his presence bothered her none. Sexuality wasn't a thing that she truly understood.

As expected, the wildling girl didn’t know how to use a phone at all. The boy shot a sideways at her bare legs, which prompted his subconscious to make a comment again. It was, again, promptly told to shut up, and soon the girl was back in bed and under the covers again anyway.
“Yes, very good.” He gave her a thumbs up as he went back to his image search for skeleton memes to send to another boy in their class who had a bony type of quirk. He could never tell if that guy hated everyone or if he was just like that.
After a while, she asked him for help in a defeated tone. He glanced at her playing with the phone, saw that it was still off, sighed. He took the device from her hands, showed her the power button on top. “You gotta press that button for a while aaaaand… There we go, it’s on.” He gave her back the phone. Waiting for the device to boot, he sent a doot at Mr. Skeletal, which was now the boy with the bone quirk’s Darren-appointed nickname -- whether he liked it or not. When the phone was properly turned on, he leaned over Aki’s shoulder and swiped through the menus, looking for the instant messaging app. He found it and opened it, and between the girl’s hands, the wonderful world of worldwide instant messaging opened its doors. “Here, they added you to the class chat too.”
Something suddenly hit him. It was 2070 and she didn’t know how to turn a phone on. Was this her first contact with the internet? If it was, then boi was she about to get a misanthropy streak. “Wait… Do you even know how to type on a phone?”
