Nari was content with going to a cafe as she was a bit hungry herself. She could practically taste the lemon cake her favorite cafe served, just dying to be eaten. Her thoughts of citrusy goodness were interrupted as the equestrian boy from before had came back to the alley way, and even after she told him to leave and stay out of trouble. Nari turned around and smiled to the boy, not wanting to show any ill will although she was just about to rope Nick into going to the cafe to chat. She supposed that would have to wait until later.
The brunette was quite confused the the horse boy asked for her and Nick to follow him, she was also intrigued as to where the boy expected them to follow him to. Was he actually a villain in disguise waiting to kidnap the two? No, he seemed too innocent to do something like that. She was surprised to hear the boy lived not on his own but with other fellow quirkers as well. She wondered if he lived with other mutants or just those with various quirks.
Nari turned to Nick, hearing him say they could follow the other if she was alright with it. As much as she wanted her sour cake right now, this was a chance to find out more information to which she could use to her advantage. Nari shrugged and smiled, silently saying that they could follow the other to wherever he wanted them to go. The brunette followed Nick and the boy out of the alleyway and over to a manhole cover, watching as the boy lifted the cover off and told them to follow him down. Nari was a bit concerned going down into the sewer with how nice she looked at the moment. The sewers weren't typically a sanitary or clean place to inhabit, she hoped her favorite dress would still stay intact by the time they left. She supposed things could be worse....she hoped.

Nick wanted to vomit and he had not even gone down there yet. Every inch of his body and soul cringed at the mere thought of doing so.
The horse-boy seemed to pick up on Nick’s discomfort.
“I know it’s not the best,” he said. “But it works for us. The fact no one ever goes down there is kinda the point.”
Nick let out a long, weary sigh.
“Of course,” he grumbled. “Let’s just get this over with.”
With great reluctance, he climbed down after the horse-boy. They emerged into a surprisingly spacious tunnel. A river of sewage ran to the right of the raised part they walked on. The walls were lit by a series of square lights. The smell though, the smell; even though Nick had anticipated it he still had to choke back his sick. He had done a lot of awful, humiliating things since he had come to Japan, but this was definitely up there.
The horse-boy did not take them far, thank every deity ever, only a little way down the tunnel. What met them was a dismal sight of a group loitering around aimlessly in the depths. All of them were mutant Quirkers. A person whose body was literally a four metre long metal pole with eyes, a mouth and spindly, cartoony metal limbs slumped against the wall. A man with two heads, one shaven and one wild and overgrown, stood warming himself against a man who was made of flickering fire and unable to wear clothes because of this, his eyes nothing more than holes in the flames. A hulking woman with a body coated in shaggy white hair like a yeti slept on some flattened cardboard boxes. Many more lurked around, glimpses of insectoid eyes, wings and talons just visible in the dim light.
Nick understood. These were the Quirkers considered too deformed, too monstrous to be accepted by society. So, they had rejected the society that rejected them and grouped together in a place where they would not be bothered by anyone. It was just a shame said place was a filthy, stinking, disease-ridden pit.
He was not surprised, however. As much as he wished he could have been.
“I’ve heard of situations like this before,” he quietly said to Nari. “It’s not as uncommon as you’d think. They found a huge Quirker-colony in an old subway tunnel in Boston, I think it was…”
Everywhere around the world was the same. It made his fists clench.
“This is why we need to take this world from the Quirkless,” he growled.
He looked up again as several of the mutant-Quirkers approached them. One of them was the two-headed guy, whose heads were both darkly scowling.
“Who the hell’s this, Ikki?” demanded one head, pointing a finger at Nick.
“He doesn’t look like he belongs here at all!” added the second head.
Nick balked at this harder than he had balked at anything in a while.
“I’m one of you!” he snapped.
“Hey, I recognise that uniform,” said the pole-man. “He’s one of the kids at that fancy new school that’s meant to turn Quirkers into real superheroes or some shit. Of course they only let the pretty ones in. Wouldn’t look good for them if they let in the likes of us, would it? Y’know, the real freaks.”
“Guys, stop!” cried the horse-boy, who Nick assumed was named Ikki. “These are the people who saved me!”

Nari looked around as she descended down into the sewers below, being wary of stepping in anything unpleasant with her half priced Mary Janes. She reached the bottom of the stairs first and moved out of the way for the two boys to descend as well. Nari thought it was quite fascinating that a group of people decided to call the sewers their sanctuary, her heart went out to them though. Mutants should be treated as equals, not as outcasts, they were her brethren and she needed to protect them, even though she was a villain herself. Nari soon followed the horse boy along with Nick, waiting to see where the other would lead the two. It was sewer, she didn't expect it to be all that much. The snake woman looked in awe at the group of mutants and misfits of all shapes and sizes getting along together down here in this underground haven they made for themselves. She blinked her large eyes and looked around, as if this little hovel they created was the same as that of a large fancy mansion. The brunette turned her attention to Nick as he spoke to her about hearing about more situations like this around the world, not just here in Japan. It was a shame these people had to live in solitude like this, not enjoying the warmth and light of the surface. Nari shook the thought from her mind, wanting now to make a good impression in front of the other mutants residing here. Nari stepped forward, deeper into the sanctuary and with her warm smile, greeted everyone with a wave. Though she was indeed a mutant as well, she couldn't risk letting her voice out lest someone find her later on. Never reveal your true self, that was rule number one in her book. She was a bit surprised by some of the responses; some greeting her while others blew off her kind gesture. What she was most surprised with, however, was some of the mutants going over and crowing around Nick, calling him a sham and a phony, ridiculing the uniform he wore representative of the school he belonged to. This was indeed a strange turn of events. Nari jotted down a quick message before going over and standing in front of Nick, holding up her sign to the others. 'It is true, both Nick and I saved your dear comrade here. I couldn't stand by and watch a fellow mutant get harassed by those idiotic quirkless people on the surface Though he may not look a mutant, I'm sure his quirk is representative of one. Please do not judge him based on appearances alone.' he message read. She wasn't too sure he was quite a mutant but there were different degrees of mutation, some more noticeable than others.

Nick’s immense amount of pride made him loathe to admit it, but a part of him was grateful Nari stepped in. What the hell was these mutants’ problem? They were all Quirkers. Creating further divisions amongst themselves was not going help them gain a greater place in society.
The two-headed guy, the pole-man and several of the grumpier others backed off at Nari’s note. Nick grit his teeth. Why in God’s name had he agreed to come down to this rotten, filthy, stinking hellhole? Whatever Ikki had wanted to give them better have been damn good. Somehow Nick doubted it would be worth it, however…
Ikki suddenly reappeared, startling Nick most embarrassingly, for he had not even noticed Ikki had gone.
“Here,” said the horse, holding out two pocket-sized cloth bags that were full of money. “It’s not much, but it’s all we can afford to spare.”
“You could have simply given us this on the surface,” Nick grumbled. Being brought down into the disease-ridden depths and confronted had not left him feeling particularly tactful.
Ikki self-consciously rubbed the back of his neck. “I know, but I – I wanted people to see you. I wanted to show them I wasn’t making stuff up and there really are people up there who care about us still. Everyone here is so beaten down and broken.”
That was easy to believe. A simple one second glance around was enough to see. Despair hung in the air almost as thick as the smell.
“They shouldn’t live like this,” Nick remarked quietly-but-darkly to Nari. “They have the ability to fight for a place on the surface. It’s better to fight for what you believe in than to not fight at all.”

Nari was relieved the anger had subsided for now, hopefully they could clear the air on the whole situation and try to figure something out. The brunette had looked around until she spotted the horse boy once more handing both her and Nick a small bag of what seemed to be money. Nari frowned seeing this, she did not have to be rewarded for helping another of her kind though…though it didn’t go to nicely with her job as a villain. Nari wrote another note before showing the small horse boy, ‘There is no need for this, please keep your money. We appreciate the kindness but you may need it more than we do later on.’ The note read. She didn’t want to take from others who had even less than she had, it wasn’t right, well at least in this situation.
Nari looked around and saw the other mutants, saddened expressions on their faces as they looked around and back at the snake woman. She wanted to do something for them…she should do it…she had to do it. Nari was about to write a note to Nick but it seemed he had the same idea as her. Nari turned to Nick and nodded before writing a message and showing the noirette. ‘But what are we to do? How do you suppose we help them out? I don't think we could do much for them with our skills and capabilities,’ the message read. She had a few ideas in mind but wanted to hear from Nick first before she mentioned anything.

Nick watched Nari give her money back and supposed he should do the same, though truthfully he was uncertain how to react to such a situation. He read Nari’s note and was silent for a moment, more and more lines forming on his forehead as he became even more uncomfortable than he already was.
“There should be somewhere up there for them to take,” he said quietly to her. “Anywhere’s better than here.”
All the mutants needed was a push. They were at the starting line; someone just needed to pull the trigger. And if Nick truly wanted to become a beacon for the Quirked, then he realised he needed to be that someone.
He looked back up the mutants, fists clenching and a fire suddenly erupting in his eyes. Seeing the mutants like this ignited the rage within him he felt towards the Quirkless.
“Is this really how you want to be?” he cried loud enough to draw the attention of every mutant there, his voice echoing off the sewer walls. “Wallowing in your own pathetic misery until you finally die?”
“What did you say?” snarled the pole-man, starting towards Nick, but a couple of other mutants lunged at him and held him back.
“You are better than this,” Nick went on. “All of you are. We were all given gifts, and that’s why they’re afraid of us. That’s why they want us to believe we are less than them, that we are accidents, when the truth is we are the next step in humanity’s evolution and they know. They know we have greater potential than they do. We just need to embrace it! If you won’t use your gifts, then you deserve to rot here! But if you really want to make a difference for yourselves, you’ll go up to the surface and fight for it!”

Nari supposed Nick was right, there might be an abandoned building on the surface I’m sure they could have. Although, they might run into some issues with the government for taking over a building that they don’t exactly own. They could be charged for trespassing and breaking and entering, the government was a scary thing to deal with, that’s why she liked to stay out of the limelight. Who was she kidding? She was a villain, going against the government and the law enforcement was everything she lived for! Although, she wouldn’t want to feel accountable for seeing her fellow mutants getting charged as criminals for something small as living in an abandoned building. What was a girl to do?
The brunette was drawn out of her thoughts as Nick began to preach to the others about living their lives how they are right now. He did have a good voice for a promotional speaker, that was for sure. Fight for what they wanted? That small phrase igniting a small flame inside the snake woman, having lived by a motto similar, if not exactly the same after she swore herself to villainy. Perhaps, there was hope for her fellow mutant kind, if they fought for what they wanted, there was almost nothing they couldn’t do. Nari listened to the noirette with a smile on her face, casually looking over to see what the other mutant’s reactions were to the other’s speech.

Truthfully, Nick had no idea if any of the words he had said were any good at all. They had just come out all on their own, stoked by the fire of rage inside him. As he calmed down he looked at the faces in front of him, deep down almost afraid of what the reaction might be. He prayed he had not just made himself out to be a complete fool…
“I agree with him!” declared a new voice, which belonged to a mutant who looked like an upright cockroach the size of a ten-year-old child, though her voice was clearly an adult’s. “I can’t stand living down here any longer! I’d rather be arrested than rot in this place!”
“I do too, but where can we go?” asked another mutant, one with numerous eyes dotted all over his skin. “There isn’t anywhere!”
Several other mutants joined in, voicing their agreement and confusion over what exactly could be done about their situation. There were several who seemed reluctant to do anything, however, one or two murmurs about the danger of causing trouble on the surface joining the mix. Ikki the horse-boy glanced around, biting his lip uneasily. His concerned gaze came to rest on Nari.
“You’re a mutant too, right?” he asked her. “And you live up there? Do you know anywhere else we could go?”
“They might all listen to you more than me,” Nick said quietly. “You’re one of them.”

Nari turned her head when a new voice joined the commotion, soon another new voice made itself known. New voice after new voice spoke up, voicing their need for a better life, wanting to do something to change from how they were now. Hearing these mutants voice their cries for changed seemed to touch Nari, seeing people so distraught and lacking in self-confidence fighting for something they wanted...no needed made the fire inside the mutant woman grow. Though she was a villain at heart, seeing her people fight for what they wanted made her heart swell with pride.
The brunette's attention was taken from her thoughts when the horse boy from before asked if she was indeed just like them, a mutant. Nari replied with a curt nod, indeed she lived on the surface with her mother but to think of somewhere where these people could take refuge in, to find some sort of haven where they could live peacefully...there was one place that she could think of. It had been her haven for quite some time, but to see these people, her fellow mutants, suffering like this...she could spare to part with her treasure. Nari flipped her notepad around and began writing on it. Her treasure was quite large, but worn down as well though it would be better than living down here. She wasn't sure how much she could do for them, given how she had cleaned her haven up to the best of her abilities, but she could at least try.
Nari turned her head once more, hearing Nick say that she might have more influence over them then he did since she was 'one of them'. When Nari finished writing, she turned her notepad to the horse boy for him to read. 'I cannot promise anything...but there may be a place on the surface where you may take shelter. I cannot promise it is the best of places...but with a little work put into it, you can truly make it a treasure of your own.' the note read. She could lead them to her pride and joy...but that was the most she could do for them. They had to put in the effort if they wished to take what she gave them.

Nick was relieved Nari knew a place. He was not sure what he would have said if she had not, nor how the mutants might have responded.
The mutants all glanced between each other for a few moments, murmuring as they tried to reach a consensus on what to do.
“Sounds good enough to me,” the eyeball covered mutant piped up loud enough for Nick and Nari to hear.
“It’s like I said,” added the cockroach. “Anywhere’s better than this literal shithole.”
Nick found it somewhat amusing that a cockroach would be the most vocal about their current unsanitary conditions, of all the kinds of mutant she could have been. He realised his amusement was showing in a smirk that he quickly dropped, but thankfully the mutants were too deep in discussion to notice.
At last, the mutants quieted down and Ikki the horse-boy stepped towards Nari.
“It’s fine,” he said. “We’ll do what we can with it, if you’ll lead us there.”
“I don’t like this,” came another new voice, which belonged to a female mutant with a long, thick elephant-like trunk that reached her knees in the place of a nose. “So many of us together in a group is bound to attract attention. The wrong kind.”
“Then you can stay down here in Disease Land!” barked the cockroach. “But I’m done with this place!”
The majority of mutants moved closer to Nick and Nari, however there were several who hung back in reluctance, including the woman with the elephant’s trunk.
“It seems not all of them are willing to take the risk,” Nick observed. He snorted dismissively. “Weaklings. They can stay here, then. Let’s go to this place of yours.”
He turned and briskly left the sewer behind. As he emerged he inhaled the fresh clean air of the surface in great big gulps as though he had been submerged in water until the brink of drowning. God, any longer down there and he might have vomited. He had never craved a bath more in his life.
A bath was unfortunately going to have to wait, though. Ikki the horse-boy, the pole-man, the two-headed guy, the cockroach and the man covered in eyeballs emerged after him, followed by many other mutants. They were indeed a strange-looking group. Nick hoped wherever Nari wanted to take them would not be too far away as he waited for her to catch up.

The brunette was impressed by how many were willing to up and come with her, ready for a new start and a change in their lives. She knew with a small uprising like this, there were bound to be those that would go against the plan, sticking to how their lives were originally. The fact saddened the green eyed girl but it was life, you either get stronger and survive or stick to what you're comfortable with and potentially perish under the might of the stronger ones. Kill or be killed as they saying goes. There was only so much the girl with brown locks could do for these people, she wasn't a miracle worker here. With those who had made their choice, Nari turned to Nick and nodded soon leaving the underwhelming mutant haven and ascending back up to the surface.
Once the group resurfaced, the sun had already begun to descend back towards the horizon. Nari mentally sighed in relief, she always did better at nighttime. Nari looked around to see if anyone had been watching them, coming up with a rather large group from the sewers could be seen as suspicious by most. Once the coast was clear, Nari led Nick and her mutant brethren to where her treasure had been. It wasn't that far of a walk and with the night drawing ever so much closer, it made getting there quite easy, avoiding the eye of the onlooking civilians.
Nari stopped in front of an old and run down 4 story home, smiling as she admired her treasure for what may be one of the last times. Nari wrote down a quick message before turning around and showing Ikki, the 'leader' of the mutant group. 'This is my treasure. It may not be much to look at on the outside but I did my best to keep it as homey as possible. It is up to you now if you wish to take my offer. Be warned though. This was a condemned building at one point, no one has lived here for years, the furniture inside is a bit tattered and worn. I would try not to attract too much attention from the law enforcement. I only come here at night when no one is around, knowing I won't be found out.' Nari's note read. She smiled softly and pet the horse boy's head, essentially giving him the keys to her utopia.

Despite the mutants’ fears, they were fortunate not to run into any hassle on the way to Nari’s secret treasure. Nick was grateful for that. While he greatly enjoyed getting to pummel Quirkless scum, it was growing late. Yuuei really would be sending out a search party if he stayed away much longer, he knew.
Nari brought them to a dilapidated four-storey house that was far from anything Nick would call a ‘treasure’. The way the mutants were looking at it, though, it might as well have been Buckingham Palace. Ikki seemed on the verge of joyful tears as Nari patted his head.
“Thank you so much!” he cried. “We’ll never forget you for this. Seriously, if you ever need anything, just call us. It doesn’t matter what it is. We’re forever in your debt!”
He galloped up to the doorway while calling for the other mutants to follow him, though he need not have bothered as they already were.
“I still don’t like you,” the pole-man huffed at Nick. “I’m just here to protect everyone else.”
He sloped off after the rest before Nick could answer. Nick’s eyes narrowed as he scowled. Why the hell did the pole-man still have a problem? They were all on the same side, and had he not gotten that across with his speech to them? He needed to work on his speeches a bit, it seemed. Though a part of him also just wanted to punch the pole-man…
He refrained, however, and let out a tired sigh.
“It seems coffee will have to wait ‘til another day,” he said to Nari. “I should really be getting back to school.”
He wondered vaguely what her connection to the old house was, but he supposed that too would have to wait until another day. He hesitated for a second – should he ask her for a contact number or something? He was far from a social person, but spending time with her had turned out to feel oddly okay, even if it had not been in the best circumstances.
That, and they both shared a small mutant militia now. Ikki had said the mutants were in their debt and would do anything: Nick intended to hold them to that, one day. “Do you have a mobile number?” It felt strange to ask such a thing. He had never asked anyone for their number before…

'Forever in her debt~?' The brunette would keep the thought in mind for use at a later time. Right now, she focused on watching the mutants enter the building she once called her treasure, now their new home. She would miss this place, but all good things come to an end at some point in time. She was sure to find another treasure somewhere around, she just had to go looking again. The other mutants looked...happier, more joyful to now have a place they could call their home. Not some place where they took shelter from the harshness of everyday life, but truly a home in which they could grow and prosper in.
Once all the mutants were inside with the door shut, Nari felt it was time to take her leave. It was getting darker outside so she might as well take a walk while she could before going home. Night time was always her favorite. Just as she was about to go, however, the noirette spoke up about heading back to his school as well. Nari took out her notepad and wrote down a message for Nick before showing it to him with a curt nod. 'I should be getting back as well but unlike you I do not have a curfew~ I suppose until next time our paths cross.' the message said. What the other spoke next surprised her. Him, wanting to exchange contact info with her? Now this truly was a turn of events. She supposed it would hurt to keep in touch with the boy, he did seem like an interesting character after all. Nari nodded in response to his question, writing her number on a slip of her notebook paper before tearing it off and handing it to the other. Now he had her number in case he wanted to talk with her again, or well chat since she was 'mute' after all.
The girl with green eyes softly bowed toward the other before turning and taking her official leave. They both had places to be and, with nothing else to do, it was best that they part for the night. Would he use her number to message her? Would she see him again on the streets? The questions were left with no answers at the moment, but they should change when the right time come.
