APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Miyami is a young woman who's slightly above average in height. Her build is also slightly above average, not being thin but also not being above average in weight. She has short and neat violet hair that extends past her head but doesn't reach her shoulders. Her eyes are violet, matching her hair color. She has thick eyebrows. Her skin is pale and light gray in color.
Although she has no major scars or tattoos, Miyami does have what appears to be a red diamond-shaped jewel embedded in her forehead. This is actually a birthmark, and has been present since birth. It appears hard, but not to the extent of an actual gem. It's more on the level of fingernails in terms of durability. This birthmark is not purely cosmetic, however. In fact, it is tied to her quirk in its function.
Miyami usually has a stoic expression, rarely ever smiling. She tends to not wear too much makeup, only sometimes going for lipstick and enough foundation to conceal the bags under her eyes. Sometimes she doesn't even bother with this. Either way, one would not have too much difficulty seeing just how little sleep she gets if looking hard enough at her face.
Her typical look when it comes to outfits that she wears can best be described as a mix of punk and goth. Miyami is a fan of dark colors, particularly violet, blue, and black. As such, those are the colors she will typically wear. Besides white, Miyami rarely has any bright colored clothes, as she dislikes those. She is a fan of hoodies, often wearing hooded jackets, sweaters, and robes.
POSITIVE
✔ Patient, mature, determined, cunning, modest, caring to those she trust
NEGATIVE
✖ Rude, manipulative, frequent liar, pessimistic, distrustful, cowardly
LIKES
✔ Nighttime, coffee, music, art, books, birds, her wife, her wife's family, New Oasis, her second chance at life.
DISLIKES
✖ Her quirk, Quirkists, violence, blood, her insomnia, bright colors, her wife getting hurt.
Personality:
On the surface, Miyami appears distant, cold, sarcastic, and uncaring, with a stoic facial expression being her way to try to hide her emotions from others. She is very mature, rarely ever goofing around or laughing at jokes. She is also very cunning, always thinking and plotting for ways to turn whatever situation she finds herself in to her advantage. Miyami is patient and always willing to wait however long she needs to to get what she wants. She is also determined, not very willing to give up right away. She does not have much respect for others, and usually has no qualms with taking advantage of people to suit her needs, regardless of how hurt they would be by her words and/or actions. She is also a natural liar, and will readily make use of them as she sees fit.
Of course, if one were to take a peak behind the cold icy mask she wears, they would see Miyami for the scared girl she really is. She tends to avoid confrontations at all times, and if something does not go her way, her usual instinct is to run. Granted, her tendency to run is caused by events of her past, as well as the troubles caused by her quirk. Despite often acting otherwise, she is not really vain at all. In fact, she's quite modest about herself, not believing that she's not as terrible as she thinks she is.
Although she may come off as malicious, Miyami is not really an evil person. She just has a bleak view on life, believing that she is cursed no matter what she does, that nothing she does will ultimately matter in the grand scheme of things, that she has no choice in doing bad things in order to continue to survive. If for some reason she does find someone she can trust and confide in, then Miyami becomes surprisingly warm and caring to that person. In short, Miyami does have a heart. It's just encased in thick ice.
That used to be the case however as after three years with her beloved Angel and her welcoming family Miyami's heart began to melt slowly to the point that she found herself slowly wanting to be around people, and even now that she has had her criminal record erased has a steady job at New Oasis alongside her wife, her family and those she has inspired bringing a glimmer of optimism to her long cold heart.

HISTORY
Our history is CUSTOM. Read it HERE - Miyami's early life started off simple. She was born in Tokyo, Japan. Her mother was a school teacher, and her father a police officer. She had a relatively uneventful and normal early childhood.
But at the age of six, all of that went right out the window.
Miyami came home from school one fateful afternoon, expecting to see her happy and cheerful parents greet her. But she did not expect to see another officer talking to her crying mother. That was when she heard the news. According to the officer, her father was killed on the job. He said that it was the work of a local gang who ambushed the man in a dark alley. The news was devastating. Young Miyami began sobbing uncontrollably, mourning the loss of her beloved father.
Life as Miyami knew it would soon change, and it was sadly not for the better. Her mother would eventually remarry. In fact, her new husband happened to be the same officer that had given her the news. But while their first couple of years together were pleasant enough, things would soon change. The man turned out to be corrupt, greedy and abusive (verbally and physically) to his new wife and daughter. The two lived in fear, and they could not even reach out to anyone for help. After all, who would believe the two over a fine upstanding officer of the law? And the one time Miyami's mother tried, the officer she ended up contacting ended up being a buddy of the horrid man. The beating Miyami's mother suffered ensured that she would not try to go against her new husband ever again. If the neighbors ever got suspicious of what was going on, the scared woman would lie, saying that she was reckless and often got into accidents, that life at home with her wonderful and loving husband was great! Nothing at all to worry about!
Naturally, this kind of life would leave a negative impact on Miyami's personality. She had become pessimistic, losing faith in law enforcement for how easy it was for corrupt bastards like her stepfather to masquerade as a cop. She did not know who she could trust, so she became withdrawn, keeping others at a distance, unwilling to open up and ask for help in fear of that person somehow being on her stepdad's payroll. Being bullied and picked on at school all the time for her unique birthmark on her forehead did not help matters either. Miyami began to develop nightmares, ranging from being beaten by her stepdad, her mom dying, to a vague shadow standing over her bed reaching out for her and making everything black and quiet (which was actually her quirk manifesting, but at her young age, she did not know this). And naturally, the man did not care at all for his stepdaughter, only feeding her enough to not arouse suspicion from others. She could cry and suffer for all he cared.
When Miyami was thirteen, she would be shocked at what she saw when walking home one day after school. Her mother was lying down on the ground, badly beaten and not breathing. There her stepdad was, drunk and with two of his fellow corrupt cop buddies, all laughing at the woman who looked like she was either dead or very close to it. Screaming, Miyami turned to run away, only to be grabbed by her stepfather. As the poor girl got beaten by the three men, the horrid man began to laugh and gloat about how her deceased father was never even killed by a gang, how her mother was stupid for buying such an obvious lie, and how the fool had married her husband's murderer.
Something within Miyami snapped. Not having expected the girl to suddenly begin thrashing (as he had become used to the girl being too scared to show any resistance), the stepfather grunted in pain as the girl managed to free herself and deliver a harsh and swift kick to the groin. But just as the man's friends began to grab Miyami and threaten her, the two became shocked at seeing the weird violet 'blood' leak out of the girl's forehead, forming into a tall and menacing skeleton. Despite the summon's apparent blindness, it seemed able to reach out to the two cops and grab them both in a firm choke hold.
Groaning, Miyami's stepfather gasped as his buddies began screaming. One claimed that he could not see anything, while the other yelled out that everything had gone silent. The skeleton then banged the two officers' heads together, knocking the two out. The stepdad began to pull his gun out, trying to shoot this demonic thing down. But before he could aim, the skeleton had already grabbed him and began to choke the man. The man screamed and screamed, until he suddenly found himself unable to scream any more. He was then forcefully thrown to the floor and repeatedly stepped on like a cockroach. How fitting!
While all of this happened, Miyami remained frozen in fear, unable to move or even react. And now the skeleton began to grab her! But unlike the three men, the skeleton held her much more gently. All Miyami could remember was everything going black as she faded into unconsciousness.
Upon waking up outside in some unknown location, Miyami began to wander around aimlessly, worried about what had happened the night before. Entering a cafe, Miyami was shocked at what was airing on the TV. News of what had happened at her home last night. A woman found dead. Three officers who were found guilty of murder and arrested. The victim's daughter gone missing, suspected of quirk use and being involved from the men's testimonies. Miyami immediately left, not wanting to be recognized and stopped by anyone.
And so began her life on the run.
Miyami would learn to take care of herself, resorting to stealing food and clothes, never staying in any one place at a time. Sleeping (or trying to, at any rate) at empty parks or under boxes in empty alleyways night after night. She did okay on her own at first, but would soon realize that it would not be enough to survive. The fact that she had to run away from her own summon (who she eventually decided to call San'en) that she could not even control did not help.
But just when it seemed like all hope was lost, that the girl was fated to die on the streets cold and hungry, she was found by several women, all appearing in their early to mid 20s. From seeing their hairstyles, tattoos, and ripped clothes, it was clear that these girls were part of a gang. But rather than mug poor Miyami, they pitied her enough to let her stay at their warehouse. On the condition that she swears her loyalty to the gang, of course. Naturally, Miyami was quick to accept. The gang life was better than death, after all. Right?
For the next few years, Miyami would be a part of the Iron Maidens, under the alias Silent Shadow. She would steal for them, and in exchange would get paid and have a place to call home. It wasn't a pretty life, but at least she wasn't starving, she had a roof over her head (even if it was leaky), she had quite a bit of money saved up, and she didn't have to get her hands dirty with blood. And in time, she even began to see the gang as a family of sorts. At least they were far better than her asshole stepdad who was thankfully behind bars.
Miyami continues working with the Iron Maidens to this day, doing whatever she can to survive. But is this where her path will continue? Is Miyami fated to walk down the path of villainy? Will she descend further into the shadows? Or will she eventually find light in this road of darkness? Only time will tell.
Time indeed did tell as Miyami soon fell in love with, spent three years getting to know and then married Angel Surami the now pro hero known as the Angel of Mercy all thanks to a chance encounter trying to steal some art from her auntie. It took awhile, but the Angel's warm shining light slowly began to melt her heart and open up the shell she had put around herself. Now the two are happily married and despite some quirk related mishaps happily run the Orphanage and Youth center known as New Oasis so that they can bring about a new age of unity and love so no little boy or girl would have to suffer like she and Angel had.
But at the age of six, all of that went right out the window.
