460 WORDS Tags | Today was a bit of an..interesting day, to say the least. For the past few weeks, Junko had been waiting on the results of her application to UA. Today had been the day it had arrived in the mail. And yet..she hadn't been able to bring herself to open it. Not at home, at least. If she was going to open the letter, then it only made sense to do it at the place where the needle had finally picked a direction to swing in. The day that the dead had risen, Junko had been here, in the Shopping District of Musutafu with a few friends. It was where she had first saved someone. It made sense to her to be opening the letter out here. But if she had come out to the shopping district simply to feel comfortable opening her letter, then why was she sitting at one of the outdoor tables of a bubble tea lounge, idly messing with a little fidget cube? Why not just make an order, open the letter, and leave? It was simple. That wasn't the main reason she had come here. In fact, coming here today hadn't even been her own idea. Graduation had changed many things. Some of her old friends had gone straight into the work force. Others continued living with their parents for one reason or another. But some things hadn't changed. The massive group chat that she had been in ever since joining the track and field team of her old middle school was still going strong. The chatter had gone down in the past few months, but it was obvious that the chat wasn't truly dead yet. With the new school year fast approaching, a handful of people had tossed an idea into the group chat. They wanted to meet up here, at the tea lounge, chat about things before they all got swept up by their respective choices in life. It had been an idea that Junko was all for. They had picked the day and the place..but Junko admittedly couldn't remember what time they had specified to meet up, and searching the group chat hadn't really helped. So that was why she was here so early in the day. The lunch rush hadn't even happened yet. So where was everyone? They had to be showing up soon. The cube was about the only thing keeping her sane right now, as it gave her something to focus her boundless energy on, arranging and rearranging it into various shapes. But it was only going to help for so long. She could feel herself getting more and more antsy..and she could only claim to be waiting for her friends for so long before she was told to leave... tl;dr: Upon request of a group text, Junko arrived at a local tea shop to meet up with some friends and friends of friends from middle school for some casual chatter and catching up, but arrived well before anyone else, and is having trouble sitting still. |
