The cracking of lightning echoed overhead as the sound of rain pattered on the ground and the buildings of the UA grounds. Winds whirled and swirled, pushing the rain to fall in an almost sideways. The wicked weather was also met with cool temperatures. Anyone caught under the rain would definitely feel the cold even more. But that was all outside. Inside one of the many gyms of UA was near perfect in terms of temperature, with the added benefit of not having to deal with the wind and rain.
Lewis, the devil-like student in First Year, had come to one of the gyms right after his classes had finished. Dressed in a simple workout shorts and a plain tank top, Lewis would look like any normal person were it not for his red skin, horns, and tail. The young man loved his exercise and working out though, and these gyms facilitated that passion of his very well. There were many weight sets around, along with other workout stations. There were treadmills and cycles as well. Lewis' favourite part however was the corner with punching bags and the sort. It was seemingly a corner dedicated to martial arts of many sorts. Lewis was a Boxer himself, or at least well trained in the combat sport. Some wouldn't consider it a Martial Art, but a lot of the ways of training with it could work with other, more proper Martial Arts. It was why there was also a ring set up near the training equipment.
Having spent a good while on the machines, Lewis moved over to the punching bags. Unpacking his bag a little more, he rifle through it before he pulled out and started applying some wraps to his hands. Punching bags could really hurt your hands if you weren't trained in how to punch properly. When first starting out wit them, it was suggested to Lewis to use boxing gloves, or at least MMA gloves. The padding would help cushion his hands and help make sure he didn't break anything unnecessarily. When his instructor had felt he was well trained enough, he started teaching him to punch without the gloves. While Lewis was confident enough with his technique, he didn't know what the school had planned for him. As such, he wouldn't risk softening his hands too much. The wrappings were lighter in terms of weight and protection than the MMA gloves he had in his bag, so they were a good middle ground.
Making sure the wraps were just tight enough to not cut off any circulation, Lewis bounced on his digitigrade feet a bit and then shadow-boxed the air a few times. He bounced from foot to foot on the spot and looked between the heavy bag and the speed bag. "Work on strength first, speed second" he stated to himself. He felt his punches were already fast enough and felt he was probably falling behind in hit power. He favoured swarming when he was boxing, so power wasn't the most important thing, but it was still good to have. Leading with a right, he followed with a few more right jabs before swinging wide with a left. He continued a few more times before switching to lead with his left. Back and forth, back and forth. Intent. Drawn in. Focused
