APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
With Shigero's skinny frame and generally introverted posture, perhaps the most striking part of his appearance is the fact that his skin constantly gives off a dim, white light. Combined with his extreme case of paleness, this gives his skin an almost otherworldly grey hue under some lighting conditions. This isn't helped by his bright, blood-red eyes, light from his eyes highlighting the blood vessels underneath. His hair is a thick black, a bit overgrown, but he doesn't make much effort to style it.
His dress sense when outdoors is a bit on the odd side, with a distinct appreciation for pink shirts. He tends to dress relatively boldly overall, if only as a defense tactic: distracting from his skin is the main idea behind it. This doesn't work too well, though it does work as a nice accent, as well as helping him not strike the world as socially inept at first glance.
Shigero won't often be caught on his own outside with an expression other than one of exhaustion; isolation and the lack of human interaction it caused have made it notably more tiring to him, something that he doesn't quite realize shows on his face so much.

Personality:
Shigero's attitude is horrible, so he's been told. He's rather straightforward in conversation, preferring to get them done and over with as quickly as possible. It's not often he gets to finish a conversation without slipping in some sort of snide comment, a habit that's poisoned what remains of his social life. This doesn't quite reflect his actual opinion of people, however; he's actually rather willing to tolerate people's flaws and issues, for the most part. Shigero's prolonged isolation has left him with a rather bitter taste towards his family, and a tinge of uncertainty regarding his own role in its cause accumulated into a deep-seated spot of self-loathing.
There are a few things Shigero likes, at least. He's always held an affinity for cats- their attitude and lifestyle, equal parts sedentary and active, aligning closely with his own. Furthermore, there are two main hobbies he's taken up while isolated: reading and video games. Books are the main way he spends time off of his computer, with all sorts of genres and time periods lining his ever-expanding bookshelf. Slightly less sophisticated is the online first-person shooter, the amount of time which Shigero has sunk into is high enough that he doesn't look at it anymore out of shame. It can be a bit of a love-hate relationship, but he hasn't been able to quit them yet. At least, with the amount of practice he's gotten, his rank is high enough to be impressive. This is something of a soft spot, however, since the awareness that it's his living conditions that earned him the title is enough to offset any real pride.
The dissatisfaction Shigero feels about his current situation is just about the only thing driving him out of his shell. Pent-up frustration from his years of virtually constant separation from society, and even more so a distinct lack of connection to other people, are a large factor in this. Perhaps more than both of these, however, he believes his life must be able to accomplish something more than the hand he's been dealt would dictate. This belief stands in stark conflict with the thorough sense of pessimism instilled in him, serving as the only thing truly guiding him onward.
Finding the right direction is the resulting problem, and it's proven rather difficult to find a solution to. Conventional career paths don't speak to him particularly, and although he's continued online schooling the prospect of continuing his education past high school isn't appealing. Though he certainly isn't too impressionable in the traditional sense, his current aimlessness does mean that his path could quite easily be influenced by outside forces, for better or worse. But whatever path he ends up on, he's certain to aim for the top.

HISTORY
Shigero was born glowing. Though it was immediately apparent that he held a quirk, its specifics long evaded doctors. His presence seemed to disrupt any attempt at scanning his body, making him a subject of some academic intrigue in his infant years. It took a year for a rather outlandish hypothesis to be proven correct: Shigero's skin constantly secreted a small amount of antimatter. A rather terrifying conclusion to reach, considering the substance is perhaps the most volatile in the known universe. Seeing how the city of Tokyo hadn't been levelled the instant he was conceived, however, things looked surprisingly calm. Though his skin gave off a seemingly negligible level of low-energy gamma radiation along with the visible spectrum, an all-clear was eventually given to allow him a normal childhood.
Scientific interest faded as swiftly as it had come, and Shigero entered elementary school at six years old. His life proceeded about as averagely as it could for a glowing young boy. He was teased for it, sure, but he didn't have it as bad as some of the others. His insides remained a mystery, but from the outside other kids couldn't tell how strange his physiology actually was. He still had some troubles in social development, but found plenty of friends. Academically, he did alright, though it was clear his interests didn't lie in studying.
This lasted until just after entering junior high at thirteen, when in the span of three months both one of Shigero's grandfathers and one of his closest friends from elementary school were diagnosed with cancer. Previously not widely known, his quirk became the center of attention in the blink of an eye. More researchers, more tests, and though they came to the conclusion that Shigero's quirk was unlikely to have influenced these cases. Nonetheless, the blame was clear in the eyes of his family and peers, and Shigero was moved into an isolated apartment until 'better measures were available'. But once again, research stagnated, and there was no lack of other quirkers in need of help. So Shigero was left in his apartment, only permitted to see family once a week, though soon enough this turned to his parents dropping off groceries at the door before leaving.
There wasn't any real surveillance to speak of, however, so Shigero often slipped out at night. The night streets of Tokyo aren't too friendly an environment, though, and paired with his own social difficulties making proper friends has so far not panned out. He'll certainly never be content staying locked away, and whatever opportunity may present itself is near-certain to be grasped.
