自由自在
to be free; completely unrestrained.
Jack, as a person, as gone through many, many trials. He overcame the majority of his emotional problems, something that alone was an extremely difficult challenge. He's fought literal zombies, and before that a literal giant monkey. He had even survived getting kidnapped by Pinocchio and an interrogation by the villain Ishtar. He's even come so far as to be given the opportunity to take the same graduation test as the Third Years. By this point, Jack had overcome almost every challenge that had come his way, and stood firm in his motivations.
And yet, the one thing scaring him right now was meeting Meara's parents.
Of course, it was mainly Meara's idea to come down to Ireland to meet them to begin with. Jack hadn't really properly experienced Christmas before, so of course he jumped at the offer to come with her to celebrate it with her folks. Even so, he was incredibly nervous about the matter - this was more or less a potential make or break moment. He wanted her parents to like him, but...well, he knew from what Meara had told him about how Ireland viewed most Quirkers. She assured him that they would accept him for who he was, but he couldn't help but worry. He'd had enough trouble being seen as a monster or a demon as it was.
He drove in the backseat of a cab next to Meara, his horns yellow with anxiety. Of course, wanting to cover up at least the vast majority of himself, he opted to wear his long, purple parka, with his wings tucked in so neatly that if no one knew him, they'd have no idea that he even had wings to begin with, nor a tail for that matter. He couldn't really hide the horns, but they were innocent enough of a mutation that hopefully most people wouldn't really give him a second thought.
He looked down for the most part during the drive, biting on his thumb lightly in anxiety. Every now and again, his tail would ruffle under his coat, wanting to swing about like it normally would in moments like this. A million thoughts were jumping around in his head at the moment: would they like the gifts he got them? Would they even care that his mutation was a bit on the wilder side? ...Would they think that he was one of those scaleys, or whatever they were called?
...Was he a scaley? Was Meara one as well in that regard? Probably a question for another day, all things considered.
However, as he glanced back over at Meara, he tried to pull himself together. At the end of the day, they were in this together at least. He knew she had his back, but even so, this was something that he had to do himself. It was just making a good first impression, that was all! What was the worst that could happen?
"...So, er, this is your home, huh? Honestly, it's really nice! A lot different than what I'm used to," he said, just trying to make some small talk to ease his mood. He smiled slightly, mostly looking like he was trying to calm himself down. At least it was better than completely freaking out.
