| Deep in the heart of Tokyo’s business quarter, a small photoshoot was taking place.
They advertised it as an amateur photoshoot for a modelling magazine to search for potential new recruits and hidden talents, so the experience required for it varied from “can stand in front of the mirror without breaking it” and “commoners will swoon upon seeing them”. The only requirement for it was a slender to medium figure, and long hair.
Shinme knew he classified for both, but was still surprised that, although no gender requirement was stated in the advertisement, there were only girls showing up to this thing so far.
He was sitting in the spacey waiting room on one of the beige-colored sofas, next to two other girls and his galaxy-patterned backpack. The room had two big sofas and various couches, all the same style and color, with two smoking tables arranged in between them. The walls were adorned by pictures of models from various agencies, like a collection of past “winners” of a competition.
He came in a pair of black jeans, a warm crème-colored turtleneck and a black blazer with red accents. He figured they would give him whatever clothes they want the models to wear whether they were satisfied with his get-up or not, so he wasn’t quite worried about his outfit, neither about the lack of make-up he had. Not that he needed much make-up for his soft, pure skin anyway. A fact he was immensely proud of. However, he couldn’t help having a tiny bit of anxiety over the fact this was his first ever individual shooting that wasn’t for a singing gig or a tiny article where the picture won’t even be more than one hundred and fifty pixels wide.
He could sing down the stars if he really tried, but a photoshoot was entirely different, and completely new territory to him. Another thing to learn and get used to if he really wanted to have that whole idol thing start somewhere.
He reached up to pull his hair to his front and let it rest in front of his chest, the ends of it falling onto his thighs. It was pulled up in a tight ponytail, tied with a red crunchie and a same colored ribbon that flowed through the length of his hair. Having nothing to do and generally being inexperienced about modelling, he decided to ask the girls for instruction or ideas. His mood was cheery, happy, if only a bit too much due to the new environment. He was energetic in his questions, and introduced himself with a charming smile and good manners right away to start on the best ground possible. After all, the girls were also here for the same purpose, and instead of viewing them as rivals, he considered them partners in this job. He joked around a little, lightening the mood when he realized they were almost as new as he himself. They were truly in the same boat. The girl with the dyed blond hair was called Marina, and dressed as comfortably as possible in baggier but very stylish clothes. The other, called Tomo, had natural dark brown hair with the tiniest of curls at its tips, and wore what Shinme would call party-outfit: crop-top with fishnet shirt and a miniskirt with pink thighs. Both of them were pretty and perfectly fit for the job description of the advertisement.
However, whenever a new face would show up in the waiting room, Shinme would jump to his feet and walk up to them immediately.
“Hey there!” He would flash a hearty, confident smile, with a cheer that would never make anyone assume he is new to the place. “My name is Shinme, nice to meet you! Did you come to the modelling job as well? Is this your first time? It is for me. And the other girls there” he pointed with his thumbs behind him, “are similarly new to things, so I wondered when someone with more experience would show up? I honestly need some pointers. Would you bestow your wisdom upon me?”
The last question was accompanied by a playful bow, and his hands held in front of him as if in a prayer. He still had his cheeky smile and a little wink to show that his serious request for advice was mixed with the necessary playfulness, so being rejected wouldn’t cause too much trouble with him. Probably.

Yumi took a deep slow breath as she stepped off the train. The building they were holding the shoot in wouldn't be far from here so her nerves were starting to pick up a bit. She'd been to enough of these recently that she knew how to put on her game face when it was needed, but for now at least she let them get to her purposely. Wanting to feel that tension under her skin that told her she was about to do somehting big, cause whether it was a job for newbies or not, it was still breaking away from the safety net that was Asta again. Her contract with them had expired and while they were more than happy to keep her on for work, she wanted to use the opportunity to break out a bit and make more of a name for herself off her own back.
Walking along the street, with the winter chill running down her back, she had worn her 'appealing' attire under a thicker, longer coat so it didn't get to her, her hair in it's usual ponytail to stop the wind from catching it too much, and her glasses on. Underneath the coat was a pink toned sleeveless turtleneck with blue form fitting jeans that flowed into cozy looking boots. Yumi did always prefer boots herself and she felt it was a nice little winter look once she got into the building, but of course, she fully expected to be given a different outfit entirely if they wanted her to stick around and do work.
Hopping up the building's stairwell, forgoing the elevator for a bit of exercise she eventually arrived at the floor of her meeting, dipping her head along each hall, counting the initial numbers till she finally found the door she was looking for. She peeked her head in cautiously at first, but it was a scene she'd seen enough times. Girls and guys waiting about on couches for their chance to get up and sell themselves. Positively speaking of course. She was just starting to undo her coat and take off her satchel when a rather eager individual rushed right up to her, hopping back a step, giggling as she caught up with the fact he was just a rather eager newbie to the line of work.
"Well I'm here aren't I?~" She quipped back a little cheekily, hanging up her coat on the provided rack and reaching into her satchel as she was asked if she had some experience or if she could give any pointed. She took a moment to dig around inside her bag before pulling out a black ring file, offering it across. If the stranger took it it would have clippings of Yumi's professional and personal work on her cosplay blog, two of the examples even seeming to be covers for the Asta fashion magazine. "Aaaand as for being a fresh face... sadly not so much.~ Though I gotta say I definitely feel like I've got some competition.~" She playfully teased smiling at the three already present, reaching back into her hair and undoing her ponytail as she moved to take a seat.
"As far as pointers go though..." She shrugged idly as she sat down, fixing her hair as she got comfortable, balancing her elbows on her knee as she leaned over her crossed lap, looking back up to the young man who'd addressed her. He certainly had a distinctive look to him, not the typical image you'd get out of the japanese men who worked for these opportunities. She honestly hoped they'd give him a shot. "Maybe ask me a few questions? I mean first off, a nice pointer would be to give someone your name before badgering them with questions.~" She bowed her head, a hand to her chest. "Yumi myself, by the way.~"

| The person who showed up, to his absolute delight, was a cutie. A beautiful cutie, at that, almost as tall as him, with a similar ponytail except a beautiful, flaming red. Shinme had to admit he rarely met such a presence, but maybe he was just not spending enough time around other idols yet. He almost missed the audible gasp and the quiet whisper of the two other girls who were still sitting on the sofa as of now. It made him wonder if the two were just surprised by the red-head’s beauty, or there was some other reason for their excitement. As if they recognized her.
He didn’t miss the cheeky remark, and he had to admit, his question about whether she was here for the job was a silly one – of course she was! But he had to start a conversation and keep it flowing, and sometimes it was easier not to assume. “True, true~” At least he gave her the opportunity to quip back. He grinned, appreciative of her shown cheerfulness.
He accepted the ring file from her, right away realizing what it was without opening it. He silently berated himself for not keeping a similar folder on him about his appearances, but then again, it would be a pretty scarce folder so far – maybe once he had more opportunities, he will follow her example and bring his own portfolio with him everywhere. “No competition in here, only hopeful partnership.” He laughed as he flopped back down on the sofa and opened up the ring file on his lap. The other two girls were free to look at the photos as well.
And what photos they were! Even for him, it was obvious that the girl showing up was far from an inexperienced newbie. She must be a professional already. Shinme was awed, and while he stared at the photo of an incredibly detailed and well-made cosplay with a stupid, awed smile on his face, the blonde haired Marina would turn to Yumi obvious recognition on her face. “You are from ASTA! Oh my god, I knew it!”
Shinme’s ears perked up. She really was a professional, then!
As she sat down and got comfortable, he peered up at her from under his eyelashes. He blinked a few times, unsure where she was going with her words, and then confusion settled on his face. He burst out laughing, but quickly tamed himself back to a giggle. A completely manly giggle. “I did give you my name, Yumi. But maybe my good looks took your breath away for a short moment when you saw me?” He asked, and had the audacity to wink at her to top it all off. He put the opened ring file on the low table in front of him, and then bowed towards her while sitting. “But it is still nice to meet you! You can call me Shinme!”
He straightened his posture, and appeared to be thinking about what questions to ask her to start off. “Okay, first” he said, and opened up his backpack to pull out a clean hairbrush from among his supplies and waved it between them, “can I brush your hair? I can come up with more questions easier if my hands are occupied. Oh, wait!” He stopped his movements and looked at her with mock seriousness. “I am going to ask again in case you were distracted by my stunning good looks again. Can I brush your hair?” What followed was a shit-eating grin, but it was all good natured teasing, and somewhere inside he hoped she could take a joke and will also warm up to him and the situation. Leave it to Shinme to make something that was only slightly awkward even more awkward.
Once he got the okay – and maybe even if he did not – he would stand up and settle comfortably next to Yumi on the arm of the couch she was sitting on. He would gently pick up her hair and start brushing it at the tips, making sure not to pull it too harshly, or not to hurt her in any way. “So, hmmm, can you tell me how these shootings usually go?” He asked casually, fingers threading through her hair. “I literally had one photoshoot and that was after a singing session, nothing like this, waiting in a room. Will we be dressed up? Will we get ugly make-up? If I have to sit in a chair for more than fifteen minutes, while they sharpen my eyeliner, I will shrivel up.”

In truth, maintaining the portfolio, as useful as it could be, really made Yumi feel a bit egotistical. It was nice being able to see her past work but most of the time it was just a line into a google search engine away. Having to cut out and keep clippings of past magazines or print them out herself, or asking for copies of the spare shots from previous gigs? They were nice things to have but she did worry just having that on hand looked like she was a little far up her own ass sometimes. Of course, she was surrounded by people in the same business right now so she was sure they'd understand the importance of a portfolio of all things. "Well that's a good attitude to take. Just be careful no one ends up taking advantage of it handsome.~" She teased gently, bumping her hip into his on her way past as she went to take her seat.
As the girls joined in to see what was going on with her portfolio, she couldn't help but smile wide and have an ecstatic little giggle to herself as one of the girls seemed to have recognized her, and had their suspicions confirmed by the portfolio. "That I am.~" She dipped her head in greeting and admittance of her little claim to fame. "My contracts up though so I'm trying to break out on my own a bit, hence..." She opened her arms up, vaguely gesturing to the whole room they all found themselves in.
She did get a little alarmed however as he seemed to point out she'd missed his names, a faint, brief blush on her cheek from the embaressment, hanging her head against her palm and silently berating herself for missing that, as it now rung more clearly in her short term memory. "Ah, well, to be fair you did borderline assault me with it." She smirked. At least he had a good bit of confidence about him, she certainly couldn't fault him for that. The cheek and the guile wasn't something she was unused to, having worked with a fair few models who got a bit 'high off their own supply' in terms of how they viewed themselves. But, having the modesty to ask for some tips and support, he at least seemed to have a cool head about him. "Shinme Shinme Shinme Shinme." She repeated to herself, tending to find it helped recalling names, something she always struggled with. With each repetition of his name she'd bob left and right till the last with a bright smile.
She shifted to give him some room when he seemed about to ask his first question, but what came did surprise her a bit. Her lips parted, a little stunned. Did he realize how offensive that might sound? It kinda implied she had bad hair if it needed a brushing but... well, he didn't seem to mean any harm, and even if it was frizzy he'd just be doing her a favour, so as surprising as it was she let herself submit to it. "Er... sure, why not hm?" She'd shift about a bit, reaching behind her head and undoing her ponytail. While it could be brushed either way she was planning to let her hair down for when she walked in anyway. They were auditioning for the spring line of some company she heard so they tended to want more youthful looks. Now with her hair down she looked more mature, buuuut, if she put it up mid-audition, showing how youthful she could appear with a simple change, it'd help display some of her talent for fitting multiple roles. Up her chances a bit. "You er... usually offer to brush girl's hair or did I look that bad?" She'd ask, peering over her shoulder. She did stick her tongue out at him at his cheeky repetition of course.
The brushing was definitely a pleasant, mildly relaxing experience and she certainly wouldn't complain as it went on, closing her eyes halfway and resting her hands on her lap, lightly tapping them against her thighs as she thought on his question. "Wellll... they're looking to advertise they're next season line, need to do some work for that in advance of course to make sure it's selling before the season's truly started. Now usually, if you have one, they'll ask for your portfolio for something to look at. Might ask you a few questions about what you think of their company. I don't really know why, I think they just like to find people more appreciative of the opportunity, or who might wear their brands outside of the job naturally. Typically they'll do all this while their main photographer takes a few proof shots for them to keep. Ya know, get you against a backdrop, get you doing a few key poses? They don't tend to like to waste time so you gotta know to multi task the questions and the poses. So long as you keep your eyes on the photographer and your ears open though, it never tends to be too bad."
As far as dress up though...- "They tend to save the outfits for return shoots, but now and then for an audition I've seen them ask us to try on a number or two to get the feel of what we'd look like come shoot day. They won't have time for full on makeup though. That's definitely saved for the day of the proper shoot... ya know. Assuming you get called back.~"

| Once their hip bumped and they all sat down, he had to smile up at her before paying attention to the ring file. “I am the one getting the most out of it. I can be here, surrounded by all these beauties. So far, I don’t feel like anyone can take advantage of me.”
Marina clapped her hands and squealed excitedly, already on cloud nine for being able to be on the same photoshoot as ASTA’s face. Contract or no contract, Yumi was still one of her favorite models, and an inspiration for her, a sempai in every way. The girls continued to read through her portfolio, taking all the ideas and references from it they could, for future use. They will learn from an esteemed model whatever possible.
He did indeed seem to have made the situation more awkward, if Yumi’s blush was any indication. Whether she actually remembered his name in the end or not, did matter little, but being scolded for not introducing himself was different. He considered the teasing warranted, but Yumi countered skillfully as well. “Heh, sure, blame me for it all you want.” The rhythmic repetition of his name made him almost giddy, she made it sounds like a song or a nursery rhyme.
For a few moments, Shinme thought Yumi would reject his offer to let him brush her hair, but he still sat behind her to do that anyway. He always loved it when people messed around with his hair – maybe he was just conditioned since childhood – and hence assumed the activity to be a conversation starter. But he was given the greenlight, so as planned, he got down to business right away. “Hm?” he hummed in question, absentmindedly, until the meaning of his inquiry caught up to him. “Kinda? Yeah. Tangled or not, I do offer it up before a make-up artist get to me or the others around.” He paused for a moment. “Or anywhere really, you would be surprised how many people like it when others play with their hair. And you know, once the offer is there, they won’t have to politely decline and can give into the temptation. Tomo there got a good hairbrushing too.” He inclined his head toward the brown-haired girl in the party-outfit, who sheepishly nodded. “So no worries, your hair was perfect.” He let the red tufts curls through his fingers. “So perfect indeed that it made me want to touch.” His voice was light and honest, and he realized that it might sound perverted if it was said by anyone else but him.
All three of the newbies paid close attention to Yumi’s explanation to why an agency is doing the things they do, and how such an audition usually goes. Shinme attentively nodded after every key point, after every sentence, and wished to commit everything to memory. Every advice was good advice, and getting it from an actual recognized model would do him good in the long run. “Multitasking, huh? That won’t be a problem.” Shinme functioned better when multitasking anyway, his thoughts rushing ahead on multiple lanes. It was almost harder to focus on solely one thing and slow down, so if it was only so much, he will do well. But of course it won’t be only that much.
“Hmmm, that makes sense, you know.” He nodded again, to the last parts of her information dump. “They won’t waste their time with full make-up and all that if the model isn’t to their liking.” Another pause. “And what about the poses? I mean, I heard they sometimes make impossible demands, or is it more like, they let you do whatever you want and the photographer walks around taking whatever good shots they can? There is probably something nice in improvised shots, but. Eh. If I was making the photos, I know I would order the models around and be a pain in the butt in general.” He leaned to the side and slightly forward, his own hair falling past his shoulders. “Any funny stories about stupid photograpters you can share?”

Yumi did feel a little better knowing that he seemed to offer this hair treatment up to most people. It was a little weird, but hey, of all people who was she to talk about what was weird or normal? She was far off the scale in her own ways in that regard so she wasn't about to tease him too heavily about that. "It's kinda nice, I'll admit, if a little out of the blue." She shrugged casually with a warm smile flashed up to the boy behind her, turning her eyes forward again quickly enough, her gaze a little half lidded as she just let herself relax. She did let out a little chuckle at his compliment, shaking her head just ever so subtly.
"Yeah, at a proper shoot you definitely don't need to expect questions while you're doing your work, but they're not looking for super professional shots here. They're more wanting their own pile of photos for them to compare after the interview. They can't keep your portfolio afterall unless you like, share them a digital copy ya know?" She gave a casual half shrug and flashed a gentle smile over her shoulder. "But hey if you can do my hair and hold up this chat you should be fine answering a few questions~" She teased playfully.
Impossible demands though? "Well... they don't exactly expect flexibility from models even in professional shoots. It can be nice but especially for fashion lines they want poses that either seem natural, or at the very least, achievable ya know? Plus a lot of photographers, as good as they can be, tend to give you vague buzz words, so its more to test how you can improvise with what they're giving you. That's my takeaway at least." She gave an idol shrug with her warm smile, chuckling a little as she was asked if she had any funny photographer stories.
"Well since I've been working for Asta its typically a lot of keen minded professionals but, back when I just did my cosplay work? I got an opportunity to do some advertisements for a little nerd merch shop. The guy taking pictures seemed a bit amateurish but he wasn't just a pervert or anything as far as I can tell." She shrugged idly with a smile. "At one point he dropped the camera and I had to dive to catch it for him, he was actually pretty cute getting all flustered with me in cosplay.~ You shouldn't expect that from this place though." She glanced over to him. "Is this really your first shoot by the way? Never tried out before?" She tended to more regularly encounter people who were a bit... worn out by the process. It was hard to find people entirely new to the business, but it was easy to find people who'd never gotten their shot yet. Afterall, you could have someone who had been to tens of auditions and still never gotten cast, was a bit of a sad thing really.

| “That should be my description: kinda nice, if a little out of the blue.” He laughed, because despite all the poise, he knew he was pretty annoying to most people. To normal people. It was somewhat lucky he will be surrounded by abnormal people come March. In either case, it lifted his mood further to hear her admit his actions weren’t making her uncomfortable.
“Mhm, true, the advertisement did say people with any experience can come, newbies included. So they probably don’t even expect professional shots anyway. It is still surprising only one pro model showed up.” He wiggled his eyebrows, which was probably missed by Yumi if she was still turning away from him. His brush strokes became longer, now starting at her scalp and going through her strands to gently release at the tips. “Hey, hair brushing is relaxing, while chatting is interesting, so I am really hitting two birds with one stone.” And the other two girls appreciated the info as well, if their shining eyes were any indication.
He thought more of her words, how most of the photographers would let the models be natural with little pointers to the right direction. “Does that mean they want the model’s personality to shine through? Will that be okay...?” He pretended to be deep in thoughts, raising his face toward the ceiling and closing his eyes. “Well.” He smiled. “Makes sense I guess. Better to have a model who can be at a hundred percent any time, and who doesn’t need to pretend for the sake of the photoshoot. That actually. Sounds refreshing. I was expecting to be manhandled and yelled at for not being able to strike the perfect pose for them." He laughed making his sentences sound like a half-joke already.
He waited for the funny story, and was delighted to hear a little tidbit with an amateur photographer, who couldn’t even hold their camera properly. Marina and Tomo giggled as Yumi continued to tell the story. “That poor guy. Must have been pretty embarrassing. Maybe he was too excited to take photos of a beauty.” He gently pulled on a strand of Yumi’s hair already in his hand as an indication of who the beauty he mentioned was, and then went back to his ministrations. He was about to raise his hand again, but the brush stopped just before touching Yumi’s scalp as she glanced back at him, and so he came to a momentary halt. He tilted his head to the side, slightly confused.
“I wouldn’t be asking questions if this wasn’t my first time.” He poked her nose with the brush. “I mean. To be fair. I did have photoshoots after a singing gig, but that was more like a bunch of arranged photos behind the stage, so I don’t count it as anything. I was never to an audition like this before. Track auditions, sure, but never as a model.” He nodded, and went back to brushing red curls, even though there was never any tangle to begin with. “How much do you usually have to wait before they get back to you? I mean, do they decide right away if they want to call back someone, or do they give the cold shoulder for two months and call later?” He could really imagine anything, but maybe it depended on the agency itself, or the kind of magazine they are searching for models for. “Come to think of it, is it possible to get chosen on your first try or should I expect to meet other various beauties in six more audition rooms before I get an offer?” He was really prepared for anything, but he will need a fix schedule sooner or later to decide when to start taking those dancing lessons.
“Another thing.” He leaned forward again. “It is only loosely related to the previous questions, but can I get an autograph?” With his beaming smile, puppy eyes and eyebrow wiggle, he knew this request would be impossible to deny.

Yumi snickered, caught off guard by Shinme owning the words she gave but, hey, she had to admit it had a certain charm to it at the very least, relaxing a little more with this relative stranger and definitely enjoying the continued brushing of her hair. "Well hey if thats what you want to be known for, no fault in that I guess. I'm definitely a bit of a pleasant surprise now and then I like to think.~"
She gave off a casual shrug as it was pointed out she was the only pro showing up. You never knew how many people may have came and went before you or may come and go after you, so there was always a chance that someone else with her level of experience may show up, but she wasn't about to get all pedantic with that on what Shinme said. "Well you know a lot of experienced models tend to get sought out. Adds like this tend to attract more newblood or people wanting to reach out from whatever type-casting you can get as a model. Someone who does winter lines wanting to try summer lines and all that ya know?" She glanced back with a small smile, chuckling at his choice of words. "Two birds indeed... once your done with me would you like me to do your hair a bit?" She was definitely used to far more competition at new roles like this, more animosity, so she was definitely happy for the change of pace on that front.
"Well not necessarily what I mean-" She began, waving her hand a little uncertain. "I mean we know what job we're here for, so they'll probably be looking for someone who can instinctively pull off what they need. It's a spring line so... it's still gonna be a bit chilly, but it's a new season, a new bit of life in the world. I mean, thats what i'm personally gonna be aiming for~ Not quite 'summer beach fun', but a bit more energy and life to me is what I'm gonna try and put forward.~" She turned halfway about and raised her hand. "That's not a pointer by the way. My instincts don't need to be your instincts. Just... put your best foot forward.~ Your definitely right on them wanting a model who's always ready to turn it on, so to speak.~" She did raise a finger again though- "Definitely be careful about what you expect if you get hired though. Some photographers can definitely get a bit handsy trying to get you to do what they're envisioning in their heads. Just depends how set they are on those images."
As far as him being new to this went. "Oh I know just... I dunno. You've got an air about you.~ If this is your first time you certainly give the air of someone who's made for this line of work.~" She offered with a playful wink. "Are you looking to do this as a career? Or like a side thing? Like you mentioned singing so I assume your more going the idol route than a straight up model?" She'd ask curiously. It was definitely something she'd considered in the past herself but she was dividing up too much of her time already and barely had the time to spare for herself. Best not to add her singing and dancing talents onto her career list and just keep them as fun hobbies for the time being. When she was asked how long they have to wait, she shrugged. "Depends how many people they see, but I've never heard of someone waiting more than a week. Really for a small audition like this we should hear back within like... 2 days I'd guess? Gives them time to compare notes and then check with their high ups. Should be plenty of time. They also can't give you the cold shoulder... I mean, they can, but people can actually get sued over not giving you a definitive no, so they tend to avoid that. I mean if you think there's still a chance of getting this gig, you could lose out on other work in the meantime ya know? Not straight up illegal, but something that can definitely get them in trouble."
She chuckled a little at the last question. "It's definitely possible. But yeah, even with a natural charm like yours, be prepared to go to a few other gigs over the next few weeks. Its always possible to just get a firm no ya know?"
A giggle escaped her at the request for an autograph, nodding along and pulling her smoothed out hair back behind her and turning about. "Tell ya what, you get me a pen and some paper and i'll give you that autograph, then you can turn around while I give your hair a go yeah? Seems only fair?" Her cheeks were a little red being asked for an autograph, but it hadn't been the first time.

| He kept turning her words around and around in his mind, thinking that they all made sense. When a model is already famous, they are the one being sought out instead of needing to go to auditions, and some managers are there to help with that. After being pointed out, it was perfectly logical. Shinme was really new to this part of the world if he couldn’t even figure that out by himself. When she asked if he would like her to do his hair as well, his hand halted and his eyes lit up. “Would you?! Haha, as soon as I am done with you then!” He continued with brushing the hair behind and above her ear, careful not to irritate her soft skin in any way. He was rarely offered this kind of care back, so the possibility really made him giddy, but not enough to fail paying attention to her.
Now, this was more hands-down advice. The way she was thinking of approaching the photoshoot, and how to impress the people looking for the models. She was honestly clever and experienced about thinking with their minds and already putting forth what they need, and not only what she can offer, but more. This was what Shinme had to learn, and this was exactly what he needed. “No worries, I won’t steal your ideas.” He grinned when she clarified it was only her instinct, and there is no need to follow her on that. “I think I understand your meaning more now. What I can offer them is... hm.” He thought about it again. The fact, that he was a man, one with long hair and classical Japanese looks was a plus, but also probably a big setback. But he was, if he wanted to be honest, pretty fluid. He could pull off the sexy dominant and the fragile feminine looks equally, if he tried. He got praised on that after singing one song before a j-pop group once, so that seemed to be an approach he can bring. He raised his hand, with a three-finger salute. “I promise to be careful about handsy photographers in the future though.”
“You’ve got an air about you.~”
Oh, she doesn’t even know how much air. Shinme always had to smile hearing phrases such as that aimed at him, considering his quirk. The wind was his element, the air his realm, so such words made him proud that he was indeed who he aimed to be, even if it was just a figure of speech. Luckily, Yumi continued on, and the rest of her words, just made his smile grow.
“You’ve got it right! I have been singing ever since I could remember. And as you have said, I have the air like someone made for this line of work.” He laughed, because even though he was shamelessly self-promoting, there was no embarrassment behind his words. “So I thought I would try out modelling, and learn to dance as well to top it off. Who knows what comes of it, right? I also play the flute, and people seem to like that as well so far. You know the Chinese style bamboo flute with that mystical sound? That’s the one.” As if that kind of explanation was enough for anything, but Shinme didn’t have his flute with him to show off, so all he could give was a vague explanation.
“Two days, hm? That would be appreciated, honestly. I need to find a good dance instructor or a group to start practicing as well, and the sooner I know my schedule, the better.” He halted. “But, huh, it is good to know they can get sued for such things. I feel like that will come in handy later, but hopefully not.” He wasn’t sure how his own temperament would make him react, but he found a seventy percent chance he would sue right away if he missed another job due to a late call. “Even a firm no is better than nothing at all. But hey, good to know at least you think I am charming.”
When his request was accepted, he handed the brush over to Yumi. “Deal!” And then dove for his space-patterned backpack to pull out a little notebook, about the size of his hand and a pen. The notebook had a specific purpose, as it was actually for collecting autographs. It already had one or two from J-pop groups he sang together with, and weren’t quite famous internationally yet, but they certainly had the potential. Since Shinme expected to meet with famous singers, models and idols down the line, he was ready to whip out this simple white notebook anytime. It had a colorful line of text that read “Waiting for my Soulmate” on the cover, and he actually had a matching tote-bag with the same text. He plopped back down on the couch next to Yumi and handed her the notebook and pen, then turned around. While she would be busy writing, he untied his red ribbon and pulled the scrunchie out of his hair. The tips of the black locks pooled on the couch, as his hair was long enough to reach his upper thighs when let down. “Ready when you are!”
He fidgeted with the ribbon and the scrunchie while the conversation continued. “Come to think of it, aren’t you already kinda famous, Yumi? Why are you auditioning? I know you said you want to break out because your contract ended with... Asta, was it? But why? Were you labeled, and need a new type of line to try yourself out? You already strike me as a spring girl.” Didn’t she get offers already? Or were she that bored?

Singing since he could remember huh? She tended to feel people exaggerated with that a lot but from someone like him she could definitely believe it. He seemed to just wanna break out into modelling from it, which to her implied he must have a bit of fame under his belt too right? Or was at least good enough to actually make a profit off of it. "Dancing huh?" She latched onto that thought with a bit of a smile. "I actually do a bit of dancing if you were every looking for someone to learn from? I mean obviously i know a few more feminine routines, never really been a marketable skill for me, but I bet you give me an hour or two I can teach you a few start up tricks, even if it's just the best ways to stretch for it.~" A silly offer, afterall they may not even see eachother after today, but a genuine one. Dancing was one of the hobbies she got to indulge in less than the others, so it'd be nice to have an excuse beyond treating it like a bit of exercise. "Dunno how much the flute will do for ya but.. hey, best of luck if you try and market that.~"
She snickered a little as Shinme locked onto the fact he could sue these guys if they left him in the dirt. She didn't think he intended it this way but she'd still raise her finger for a warning. "To be clear you can only sue them if they don't inform you. Not if they give you a no, so be careful on that one.~" Her snickers flowed into gentle chuckles, again knowing he probably didn't intend it that way but feeling it was probably better safe than sorry. He did seem a little eccentric afterall, for better or worse. "Definitely charming though. I'll stand by that one.~"
Turning about and taking the brush for her turn at his hair. Of course it seemed she had to give up an autograph first, biting the inside of her lip so she didn't chuckle at the notebook he had. The colorful writing was kinda cute, but she still had an instinctive urge for a little giggle when she saw it. Placing the brush aside, she took the pad and wrote out her name. She hadn't done this enough to have a distinctive style, but she made sure to do a quick sketch of her hero logo at the end of her name, a lightning bolt with curved edges rather than sharp points, except for the very edge of the bolt itself. "Heeere ya go...~ Not the most exciting but... hey, its authentic at least.~" She offered it back across before turning to take some of his hair. She'd scoop the bottom ends into her hand and start with the edges like he had with her before starting to move a little further up, taking calm, slow breaths as she just focused on relaxing. This was definitely a unique way to wait for an audition but hey it was relaxing for the both of them it seemed.
"Kinda yeah-" She began on the whole famous thing. "I mean... people know me for the Asta stuff and I have an online following for my more personal stuff like my cosplays, but... well I dunno. Maybe if I had a manager? But right now all I really know to do is get out there and try to get people to associate me with work outside of Asta... I mean I'm gonna be a pro hero next year. Was thinking maybe I'd try and start up an agency for heroes who wanna do similar work? Have people come to us?" She chuckled idly. "Probably best I just get a manager really..."
She was just focusing on doing his hair when someone dipped their head out of the audition room. He gestured to the two other girls, mostly because Shinme and Yumi seemed to be keeping eachother busy and gestured for them to come in, then looked back to Yumi and Shinme. "Aight and we'll be with you two in 5 minutes..." The man with a clipboard gestured between them. "Are you two like... a duo or...?"
"Hm?" Yumi perked up at the question, then looked back to Shinme. "Oh no no.~ I mean if you're doing Auditions in pairs I'm fine with that but we're not like a 'hire us both or not at all thing."
"Oh no I meant like a couple-" Yumi blushed a little but the guy quickly tried to explain why he was pointing this out. "Its just we have a spare changing room and if you two were fine changing together I would have invited you to... ya know, get ready?"
Yumi was still a little thrown by the assumption, glancing back to Shinme and shrugging. "I mean... I'm pretty used to it? Would give us something to do while we wait other than brush eachothers hair."

| Shinme wasn’t even that surprised when Yumi said she could dance and knew a few routines he could learn if he was willing. Really, he was more shocked by the offer rather than the fact, especially being offered so casually, as if letting another possible rival model learn new tricks even if in a completely different aspect was normal. “You would? Really?” He was getting way too excited by the possibility, even if Yumi’s knowledge was limited on it. “Feminine routine or not, I bet it would help tons either way. If you have the time. Or the means. Or you know, if you are bored. I want to!”
He reacted with a very visible and very childish pout when she informed him he could only sue them if they don’t call back, not if they say no. “Aw shoot, my plan is ruined then.” He murmured, but couldn’t hold back his smile, making it obvious he was joking. He nearly melted from the praise too, getting his ego fed by Yumi left and right definitely raised his spirits more than it was probably healthy.
Marina and Tomo quickly pulled out some spare papers from their purses as well, getting courageous after Shinme could swindle out an autograph, and asking one from Yumi for themselves. They were also fans, after all! It wasn’t every day they could meet a famous model on such a small audition.
As soon as he got the notebook back, he studied her autograph, especially the little doodle at the corner. “What are you talking about, it is perfect! Thank you!” He said like the well-taught spoiled child he was. He kept the notebook open on the page as she started on his hair, eyelids slightly lowered in appreciation of the act. No matter how many times people touched his hair, it was always a definitive kind of comfy feeling, as if he was cared for and loved just for existing. He couldn’t quite explain it. He hummed, just so Yumi knew he was listening. His focus shifted from the pleasant feeling of hair-brushing to her voice when she mentioned opening up an agency for like-minded heroes in the future.
“Are you a hero?” He turned his head slightly, his voice laced with a different kind of awe than when they talked about her modelling. He always wondered how the heroes would look like up close, how different they were compared to the normal people with commoner jobs and boring lives. If Yumi was this cheerful, this attentive and genuine while being a hero, she was the kind of person Shinme wanted to become in the future.
His question might have to be answered later, as a man poked in to call the others to the audition room, and so, even Shinme looked towards him. “Marina, Tomo, do your best!” He waved to the girls, wishing them the best of luck even if that meant his chances would become slimmer. The girls waved back with a giggle and wished them good luck as well.
Duo? Shinme tilted his head to the side and shared a glance with Yumi who seemed to come to the same conclusion as him. “Oh, no no.” They said in unison, he waved his hand to further empathize the fact they were indeed not here to take pictures together. Once the guy explained further, whether they were a couple and if they wanted to use the remaining changing room, Shinme could literally feel Yumi’s blush behind him, which just made him want to be a little bit mischievous. He leaned back slightly, letting his head fall back, and as Yumi was right behind him still, his nape would hit her shoulder as he leaned on her if she let it. He would glance at her, eyes lidded, smile in a playful smirk. “Aw, do we really look like a couple? That’s cute.”
He quickly righted his posture, and nodded at her wondering if she really was unbothered by sharing a changing room with a guy, or just was being polite. “I don’t mind either.” It was quite odd for a girl to be this okay with such a thing though, even if she was “used to it”, as she said. But then again, if she really was a hero, she could pummel anyone who tried to watch her change clothes. He made a mental note to TRY and be extra careful about giving as much privacy to her as possible.
“Okay then, let’s go, let’s go!” He took the hairbrush from her, and put that and the notebook with the pen back into his backpack. Once it seemed like Yumi was also ready to go, he would gently pull on her wrist twice, as if a child would do when he was being impatient with their big sister.
“Follow me then.” The helper guy said and led them out of the waiting room, towards the changing room. Shinme was able to get a glimpse of the set that was just a simple white background with the usual umbrellas and lamps used by pro photographers. According to what Yumi said, this was just a quick Q&A with photos taken during, so no wonder there was nothing extra flashy there. The changing room itself was equally white with lockers, tables and chairs. Spare clothing was hanged on a clothing rack, and as their helper indicated, those where the clothes they could choose from for the audition in case they wanted to change to either. Shinme figured that even if he didn’t say it, it was highly recommended to get into one. They wanted to see them in the clothes they would possibly promote, after all. Their helper told them he will be back in a few minutes to get them once the girls are finished, and closed the door on his way out.
Shinme turned to her and raised three fingers in a kind of salute, as was a common way to make a promise in China. “Okay, Yumi, I promise not to peek and only turn around if you say I can. But you can watch if you really want.” He winked, winked, and swirled around, first shrugging off his blazer and then grabbing the neck of his sweater to pull it off him as well. No need to waste any time, right? He can just take a look at the clothes they got once he was half-naked already.

Yumi was more than a little surprised when the other two joined in with the autographs, chuckling the nerves off and signing away in both of their books, trying something a little different with each just to see if she could develop a natural flair for a signature of sorts, but all of them were just her first name, with the curved lightning logo next to it. It wasn't uncommon to get recognized here and there but heck even in the business she didn't tend to get 3 people in one room recognizing her... well, Shinme had heard of Asta but he didn't seem to recognize her outright, especially not as he asked about her heroism.
"Oh not officially yet. I mean, I'm a third year student at UA, we're a few months off graduating so I'm pretty close, but it's definitely a clearly defined line there ya know? Can't go out doing work on my own till I graduate and get a hero to work under yeah?" Maybe it was a little too by the book to treat it like that but she definitely didn't wanna go about claiming a title she didn't have a right to yet. With a long relaxed breath she thought about her plans for becoming a hero, but it seemed like she was saved from rambling about any of that when they were interupted by the people running the appointment.
"Oh er-yeah! Good luck!~" She didn't have the focus to remember their names already but she was at least going to wish them luck, her cheeks a little pink from the fact she hadn't gotten a chance to talk with them like she had Shinme, but it hopefully wouldn't bother them too much. Maybe they'd stick around for after the shoot and she could get a chance to offer maybe a coffee chat or something? Take them all to one of the Labelle's cafes down the road? She didn't linger on that thought for too long as she looked to Shinme for his thoughts on them entering and getting changed, not all that surprised as he seemed to be pretty on board with the idea of them casually changing together.
The way he dipped back into her shoulder? A little less expected. She shot him a deadpan glare for a moment before just resting a hand around his mouth so he'd shut up on the couple thing, shooting her look back towards the man with the clipboard. "I mean look at him you think I'd go for the obnoxious pretty boy types?" She quipped to get a dig back in, but not at all uncomfortable with people in her personal space she didn't go to shove him off. Maybe it was the hair play with the brush but she warmed up to him pretty quick it seemed, even for her intimate nature.
She offered the hairbursh back as he seemed ready to go, holding up a finger. "One sec." Pulling up her satchel, she'd slip her glasses back into their case and pull out a small contact case. It took a few seconds but again, with the model stuff she was used to changing her eyewear on the fly. Contacts just worked a lot more in her favour and... well, if she was honest, if he got to see HER goods she was at least gonna make sure she could see his with her glasses off. Fair was fair and all and... well. She'd become a lot more comfortable with her own perverse moments over the years. He was a handsome young guy, why not let herself enjoy the opportunity?
"Okay, good to go~" With her vision clearing she followed up behind with her satchel over her shoulder. Following the tugs on her wrist with a chuckle and heading into the changing room. She was used to these just being a spare room they let people get changed in but with the lockers she wondered if this place was also used for the full shoots when the auditions were done. With the privacy leant to them, Yumi wasn't at all hesitant, already about to reach for the bottom of her sweater when Shinme made his offer, chuckling and rolling her eyes. Without hesitation, she grasped the edge of her sweater and wiggled her figure out of it, wearing a slightly lacy strapless bra with the clasp in the back. While Shinme had his back turned, she roughly flung the sweater at the side of his head, just as a cheeky symbol to say she didn't much care if he turned around.
"Look if you're gonna be a model you're pretty much gonna be seeing your co-workers half naked like every other shoot. I got used to it preeeeetty quick.~" She'd walk past as she slipped into one of the chairs, stealing an idle glance at whatever the pretty boy was working with under his top, undoing the clasps on her boots and slipping them off, quickly pulling off her jeans to follow. While Yumi did train at UA she relied a lot more on her quirk than her physical body. She'd tried to diet a bit compared to normal since she became a model, so she showed a bit more toned muscle than she used to, but she certainly wasn't made of it like Jasmine or some of the male students like Kirk. Never once telling Shime to turn around, she was up again pretty quick, walking over to the rack, standing in naught more than a strapless bra and some matching panties, back likely to Shinme as she looked through the options humming to herself, re-arranging a hanger or two before dividing up the rack.
"Okay, left side I think is the options for you and on the right is me-" She glanced over her shoulder, very much in 'business brain' mode. "Don't worry if they don't have your sizes. So long as anything fits thats pretty much all they need." Of course... any model they asked for would tend to have a general figure, so it was unlikely too many of these would be tight or oversized.

| Shinme did not have the chance to react to Yumi’s clarification about rather than being a full-fledged hero, she is yet a third year at U.A. and hopes to graduate in a few months. He wanted to latch onto that conversation and ask away, forgetting the fact they were here for modelling business. It was a new goal for him after all, being a hero, and actually meeting someone who goes to the hero school was even more shocking than simply meeting a more experienced model who was willing to give advice. They were interrupted, and hence Shinme had to pay attention to the present.
He smiled under the cover of the hand, and just barely seemed to be intimidated by Yumi’s death glare. The fact he did shut up and didn’t play around with the couple theme more was probably an indication that he would rather not make the girl angry. ‘Obnoxious pretty boy? Another thing I have to add to my resumé,’ he thought. He was released soon enough, and they started getting ready. It was odd, in a sense, to watch someone switch to contacts from glasses. And he had to turn away when he became somewhat queasy as she put the contacts in. How could anyone be gutsy enough to touch their own eyes like that, uh.
Over in the changing room he turned away just as Yumi grabbed the end of her sweater, just in time not to catch a glimpse of any extra skin. The soft hit to his face was unexpected, and made him yelp where he stood, but he caught himself before accidentally breaking his promise and turning around. Nope, he had to keep at least that much face to himself.
“I am trying to be generous and honorable here, and you don’t even appreciate it! How cruel!” He said, mocking hurt, but still refusing to look, even pointedly facing the other way when Yumi walked into his line of sight. Shinme still had his black pants on, but his upper body was naked. He was lean and slim, not at all skinny like many tall teenagers his age, but he didn’t yet have worked up the kind of muscle he would need if he really wanted to be a hero. He definitely had a good posture and nice skin at least, a good start. When he could hear Yumi move around again, he kicked off his shoes and undid the zipper and button of his jeans, but still left the pants on. He can get down to boxers when he chose another nice pair for himself, and maybe when Yumi was also at least partially covered by clothing again.
Maneuvering himself around Yumi without looking at her proved to be somewhat troublesome, but he was stubborn enough to keep this up either until she said it was okay to turn around, or they were both clothed. Hearing she divided up the rack for the two of them to use, he chanced a glance, and could walk over without any incident, and with only having her in his peripheral vision.
The pieces he could choose from were colorful, as expected. It was spring line, after all, and some of the clothes were still somewhat thicker for the colder days of early spring. He spied some cherry blossom pattern here and there, but the first he pulled out was a button-up shirt made of light peach silk with sturdy black cotton creasing at the shoulders, shoulder-blades and chest. He hanged it at the very end of the rack to use for later if he can find a nice pair of pants, and maybe a shawl to go with it. There were accessories on the tables to go through too.
“I mean, I am a pretty general-sized guy. I don’t worry about things being too big, because I can still pull off a natural look like that. And none of these seem to be too small either so whatever will work, really.” He was quite confident in that. He found a pair of dark grey chinos and an almost white cords, and was debating which one to go with. The white one was quickly discarded, because chinos was more his style, and with that decision made, he grabbed the waistline of his pants and pulled it down to step out of them. All he had on was the slim-fit black underpants that showed off a perfectly formed male butt.

Yumi noticed the subtleties of how Shinme was moving around her, and rolled her eyes a little in disbelief. She'd kinda assumed how bold she was being getting undressed would be a big enough hint that she didn't care what he saw, but at the very least he was able to make his way up beside her and search through the clothes with her. "Uh huh. All of man kind honors your sacrifice in the name of their honor." She blandly teased, looking at a few items for herself and trying to put together an outfit she also might like. Really with such loose, mix and match items it almost felt like a puzzle piece to see if they even had a sense of fashion to begin with, but she gave it a good shot.
A cream top with a dressy-edge to the bottom of it was pushed over to the end of her side of the rack to keep it to one side, easy for her to remember she liked it, before looking over some scuffed, torn up jeans. She was never too sure on that sort of look normally but, hey, if it was in it was in. She didn't get paid to like the fashions, just model them at the end of the day ya know?
She put it with the top as a tentative confirmation before turning her eyes back towards Shime... nice build on him... as he spoke she tipped back a little and smirked as she managed to think of a quippy little line to get his attention. "Dunno. I mean the rest of you is pretty 'general' but your ass is above average.~" She'd wait for him to at least give a confirmation he heard that even if he wasn't gonna be brave enough to glance in her direction, giving an under the breath chuckle as she nudged his shoulder.
"C'mon hun, if I cared what you saw I wouln't be here standing about in my underwear would I? Come on you're gonna be around half naked people half the time if you're getting into this line of work. May as well get comfortable with someone more experienced as you keep calling me.~" She gave a sly little wink off the side, just to try and emphasize everything was okay and she was playing about with him. In fact, to playfully emphasize her point, she'd pull her arms up behind her head in a trained little pose. "I mean... maybe less than half if you don't wanna model the good stuff~" She immediately broke down as the last word left her lips, giggling into her hands- "S-sorry, couldn't resist~"

| Shinme tried his best, really tried his best not to look, but Yumi continuing to wiggle around and tease him in turn really didn’t help. He raised his head and closed his eyes, said in a mockingly prideful tone: “They should honor me, because I am doing a good job!”
But he felt more and more stupid for it, and the comment about his ass completely broke him. He stared at her in disbelief, and then tried to twist his waist to glance at his own butt, raising an eyebrow. He couldn’t quite comment on it yet, because Yumi yet again reassured him, and at that, he had to pout and play at being hurt.
“Right, right, laugh all you want! Here I am trying to keep a promise, and I already have to break it. At least say “you can turn around”, because then that means I can still keep true to the vow I made.” He was smiling though, obvious that whatever teasing was going on was far from trampling his mood. “You win.” For him, it was honestly easier to be naked around girls rather than boys, to be honest, but that was not anyone’s business, and it was also a completely useless information for their current situation.
“The good stuff, huh?” He twisted again to get a look at his ass, chinos still in hand. “Do you really think it’s above average? I AM quite proud of it, to be honest.” He glanced toward Yumi in the most casual way he could, without staring, because she was still only in underwear, and modelling audition or not, it was still supposed to be awkward. “Well, you don’t have anything to be ashamed of, actually. Nice curves. Wait. wait wait wait. Is my ass actually bigger?” He positioned himself next to her, hips aligned to compare. He pulled his hair – still let down instead of in its usual ponytail – to his front so the goods were completely visible. His’ was probably smaller, being male and all, but now that they were there, Shinme was curious. At least he will have reference for later. Would that be good marketing to say he has a bigger backside than a girl his size, or would that just be weird... He was only sixteen yet, after all, so maybe anything like that was still too early for him to be worried about. On photos, all they would want from him is to be cute and look good in their clothes. Riskier photos would have to wait a few more years.
