'Twas a cold winter day, the city draped with the colors of bright red, green, and gold which shone warm against the chill that bit through the air. Many lingered in their homes, more still crowded the streets as they went about their daily lives, but for some like Misako, it was nothing short of an early christmas treat!
Her bags lingered heavy with a new bounty of outfits and apparel to call her own, a thoughtless display of wealth that only caught the briefest of gazes from most passers-by, but not from Koishi. He could practically smell the stench of wealth wafting from her egregious display. His hands trembled at the thought. A brief and fleeting guilt. She was a kid, but he was certain that would make the ordeal all the easier for him. He needed the money, more than the miss needed whatever was leftover from her shopping spree, he was sure of it.
While not the most experienced of thieves in the slightest, he easily took advantage of the thrumming crowds, slipping through the stream of pedestrians as he made his way to his unfortunate prey.
His heartbeat quickened and his hands grew clammy. He was really doing this, God, he hoped that his mother would be able to forgive him... But, what kind of son would he be if he couldn't keep a roof over his mother's head? He had to swallow his morals, for just an hour or so... steal and pawn off whatever he could. Simple. Yeah, simple.
Koishi swallowed another deep breath as his pace quickened to catch up with Misako. He flipped his hoodie over his head to cover what he could, and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't scream." He tried to keep calm, but let his voice bite with the slightest threat to the girl. She would be able to feel a slimy substance spread from the man's hand as tendrils against her shoulder blade which would quickly harden into something like rock. He would start to guide her towards one of the many dark and dreary alleyways that dotted the city
"Give me everything you've got on you but the clothes on your back. Make it easier for the both of us." His voice quivered and his eyes darted around. He felt sorry for her, uknowing of her abilities of course. An unlucky stroke of luck, he was sure, but he was certain she had to come from wealth, so she would be fine going without just this once for his sake just this once. Right?

It had been a great day for the aspiring hero so far. The biting cold didn't effect her much, she had a comfortable white hoodie on under her heavy green jacket. A knitted beanie kept her sensitive ears warm. A gift from her mother for maintaining her grades. The second gift was spending money for a shopping spree! Misa wasn't as rich as she might have seemed at the moment, more like her impulsive nature caused her to buy many frivolous things.
Yes, these were the thoughts that had distracted the girl from her surroundings. There was such a large crowd it was easy to feel safe in it. A sheep in a herd was always sure it would never be the target of a hunter after it's wool.
Until the hand fell on her shoulder. Her first reaction wasn't defensive in the slightest. It was a genuine curiosity that reflected from her blue eyes as she looked at the man who had grabbed her. It took even another moment for it to dawn on her that he'd told her not to scream. The tendrils hardening like rock were a cause for concern too. Not just a mugger, but one willing to use his quirk openly. "H-hey. Relax. We don't need to get anyone here involved in this alright?"
She followed him away, eyes sharp as she felt a fear building up in her chest. A fear quickly followed by shame. She had just spent months getting over her fear of confronting actual villains, she refused to let herself even consider freezing up against this man. As they approached the alley, she gripped her bags tightly. When they were seemingly alone, she let out a long and steady breath she hadn't realized she was even holding. Her heart seemed to beat more normally and her head seemed to level as she watched the man. He was quivering, scared. It didn't take a professional to realize he was nervous. His first robbery? She kept her cool and looked at him for a few moments after he made his demands.
"It's not too late to walk away from this, you know." She said with a neutral tone, trying to pull away from his rocky tendrils. "I won't tell anyone what happened here. I don't think this is the type of thing you want to do here. I'm a hero in training, you know!"
It wasn't that she refused to part with her Christmas presents. No, that was whatever. She just hated to see a man like him walk a path like this...

Holidays were always a tough time for Sora. The cold biting at her skin that brought chills to her bones, the crowds that roved to and fro, destination to destination, cluttering and jamming the paths she took, the general cheer that gripped the hearts of many as the festive season endured. The last one wasn’t much of a problem now, but it annoyed her when people started acting like it was Christmas when it wasn’t even December yet. She was doing some window shopping today, looking for what present she should buy herself for the holidays. She was wearing her usual colors of all black in cheap looking winter wear, and had let her hair down for this occasion, letting her long silvery gray hair flow all the way down instead of her usual twin tails.
She was busy looking through displays with interest and longing when her eyes flickered over to a reflection in the window. It looked to her like someone placing their hand on a girl’s shoulder and ushering her somewhere out of the way, an alleyway. She stood there frozen before sighing and reaching into her pocket for a hair tie and using it to tie her long hair into a pony tail. Before turning and following after the two, peeking into the alley with caution.
‘A mugging.’ She thought as she strained to hear what was being said. ‘How unfortunate for the girl.’ Then she heard what the girl was saying. ‘Nevermind, now I don’t know how this is going to end.’ The criminal was unlucky enough to have mugged a ‘hero in training’, which could either mean UA Student or vigilante with big dreams, and she wasn’t sure which was worse for him.
“Hello?” She called out as she pretended to cautiously step into the alley. “I saw people go in here for some reason, is everything okay? Does anyone need help?” In the end she decided to get involved with the situation instead of just observing.

"I've heard that one a dozen times before." The man quickened his voice to sound intimidating to her. She was bluffing, but to be fair so was he. There were at least ten different highschools in this town, and he wasn't going to damn himself on the off chance that she was walking out of the government's superhero daycare!
"I already told you drop everything and I won't hur-"
Koishi practically jumped at the entrance of another voice. His eyes went wide like a deer caught in headlights, but he was quick to put himself between the new entry and the girl. He kept his stance wide trying, and failing to hide as much of Misako as he could. "It's... nothing." He hesistated as he swallowed a lump that felt trapped in his throat.
"Y-yeah. Me and my friend were just having a chat." He tried to sound calm, he really did, but his act was dismal. His hands were shaking so much that he clasped them right behind his back so that Sora could not see. His breath hung heavy in the winter air.
"N-not much privacy out in the open, you know! Heh heh." He lied again, all of his attention now caught by Sora's checkup. "I-I'm a bit nervous in crowds, sooo uhh, c-could you go?" He made sure to ham up the stutter a little bit to play off the fact that he felt like he was about to figuratively shit his pants on the spot.
What would this lady do once she figured out what was going on? Would she scream? God, what would she do if she got a crowd on his ass? Was there a way out of here? It looked like there was an intersection at the end of the alley.
Worse, he could fight. He cringed at the thought of actually hurting someone. God, what a way to dive right off the deep end, huh? But, if his neck was on the line he wouldn't hesitate!... Okay that was lie, but he'd have to try his hardest not to hesitate!

The mugger was unconvinced of Misako's thinly veiled threat that she was a hero in training. Yeah, of course a professional mugger would hear that all the time. She considered surrendering her loot to the man, maybe he really did need it that badly... but she considered the idea he might try this again with someone and the situation would end in someone getting hurt.
Her silent prayers were answered when another person stumbled into the fray. Yes, a third person to really bail her out, it seemed. The villain played it cool- acting like there was nothing out of line. Yeah, right. Misako had seen true villains. She'd almost died to a few. They weren't like this. This man was new, he HAD to be, right?
"He's trying to mug me." Misako said with a hint of hesitance, her eyes looking over the man carefully. "I want to give him a chance to reconsider, before he goes to far. I'm a hero in training, class 1-A in UA High."
Maybe the details made her more believable? She didn't want to get a struggling man in trouble, but couldn't let him continue down the path of evil like this. She set one of her bags down, reluctantly. She looked at the villain, her eyes wide and pleading. "Listen. I've had training. I'm pretty good at stopping crimes. Even if you can beat me, though, this girl will run off and call the police. I'll give you this one bag if you let us go and give me your word you won't pull anything like this again."
Trusting a man that was trying to mug her was suspicious, but... well, frankly Misako saw the best in people sometimes. If that was her flaw, she thought she had a better one than most people did. At least she wasn't a mugger.

Sora figured was having a hard time deciding whether or not she’d play along with the mugger if the girl didn’t rebuke his statement. She gave a nod as if she was believing what the man was saying. “Oh I see...that’s fine i suppose.” She drawled neutrally. “Having chats in dark, secluded, alleyways are normal and definitely not a prelude to sinister things…” In the end she’d decided to no play along, still he looked familiar to her though she couldn’t quite place where she’d seen his face. She shrugged mentally, she’d figure it out soon enough.
“Oh.” Sora breathed after the hero in training had made her declaration on the situation. “That’s...you can’t do that, that’s illegal.” She said, as if saying that something was illegal would do anything. She made a showing of slowly reaching into her pocket for her phone. “Do you want me to call the police or something? Sounds like something they should be able to handle.” She reached into her pocket and turned off her phone before pulling it out. “And I ran out of power for my phone, what terrible timing.” She slipped her phone back into her pocket. “That is bad…”
“Ah, well, yeah what she said, and I could also run out and cause a crowd of people to come over.” She added helpfully. “Though I don’t know about the whole stopping crimes thing that she’s saying, if she’s saying she’s a hero student then it’s best you believe her. She probably isn’t the type to bring up being a hero student if it wasn’t true…and really is it worth risking it to get some money out of her? You probably don’t need much, if any, at all.” Something about what she was saying was making her feel like she should remember something about this man, something about money perhaps?

A bag... A single damned bag was nothing. Compared to a bank card or a phone it was almost nothing. A few thousand yen? That was nothing compared to what he owed. It wouldn't even cover half of what he owed in the next week. What was that saying? 'Let them eat cake'? That must have been pretty close to what he felt right now. Koishi could feel his face contort as he grit his teeth.
"You really don't know how bad I got it." His voice wavered, like he was about to start laughing. He moved down the alleyway, not caring for what the girl did with herself anymore. He put a hand to his mouth. What the fuck was he thinking? These people were so far above in life that they couldn't comprehend how much weight he had to carry on his shoulders. All because he was a good son that couldn't bear to let his mom die while he had anything to say about it!
Maybe he wasn't clear enough? What the hell kind of deal was this kid trying to get him to bend to? Was she just that stupid? Did she ever have to stop and think about how much something cost to almost anyone else? "It's over." It really was. How was he going to scrounge up all the cash if he couldn't even fess up the courage to pull off a mugging? How was he going to make ends meet if he was so stupid that he got caught the moment he tried? He should have stuck to burglary.
Koishi leaned against the wall and started to slide down. He couldn't promise shit to this girl, and she knew it. Teaching him a lesson? She knew nothing. Was she really a hero? Where were they to save his mother when she slipped away more and more every day?
"I'm too deep in the hole, kid." Koishi's once weary and faltering voice was now resigned. He was going to die, he was sure of it. Nothing he could do about it. "That man... that man's gonna kill me if I can't get the money for him."
That was right. It was either him or those two girls. Koishi brought himself to his feet with a sullen look on his face. He threw his hands to the side! That strange grey liquid spilled from his sleeves like hydrants, spilling to the ground under the girls' feet, and crawling up to form a wall and block off the alley-way!

Shades of grey were something that the naive hero in training Misako Suzuki was unaware of so far. A spoiled life from a healthy family that made enough to get by, that was a safe and fair assessment of her abilities. She thought her deal was fair, and the stranger girl was quick to support the idea that there was no escape for the villain. The villain, however, was quick to lose his courage as he was met with the challenge. He ranted sadly about his situation, and Misako found her heart pang for the tragic villain. Maybe she was too sympathetic.
"Kill you..?" She asked, stepping forward sadly. "You don't have to die. Whatever trouble you're in... there's a hero who can help you. I'm sure of it."
She didn't understand details. no, but she had made a guess that the man had borrowed money from dangerous people for some reason. She wasn't going to judge him, even if he'd gotten himself in the situation and was looking for poor victims to get him out. She wasn't a victim, she was a hero. She was supposed to help people out. It was her specialty.
"If you come with me, I can protect you while we head somewhere to get you some real help. We can go to the station, ask for a hero to help..." she offered a hand to the man, to help him to his feet, "I'm sure if you did anything wrong they can still help. It can't be worse than dying, right?"
She looked to the girl, flashing a friendly smile. "I really appreciate you coming here to help me. It means a lot. I don't think we need to make a scene out of this, though. I can handle it from here. Unless you'd like to join us, you're welcome to!"

“Ah.” A sound escaped from Sora’s lips as she finally remembered where she had seen the man. ‘Koishi...something…’ She thought as she stared the the apparently dangerous person. ‘I remember now, he hasn’t been paying his debts...a big no no when you’re being a criminal.’ She mentally critiqued. “Oh I wouldn’t be so sure about killing...I mean, hypothetically speaking, it would be more profitable to keep you alive and suffering and force you to pay. Killing people that owe you money just isn’t profitable...” She rambled off nonchalantly, keeping an eye on the situation to see if it devolves even further.
“Really it’s unfortunate that sometimes you fall in a hole that you just can’t seem to climb out of...but who am I to comment about someone else’s struggles when I have my own.” She kept her arms loose as she stared down the alleyway. She shifted her feet slightly, getting comfortable to move. From how the man sounded it seemed like he was about to go on the offensive, and it wouldn’t be good for her if she was caught flat footed. She leaned to the side and listened to what the girl had to say.
“I’ll have to turn down that offer miss. See I’m pretty sure that my safety is at risk with this ruffian in the alley and since it doesn’t look like you'll be doing anything. I’ll have to take an active role in the interests of defending myself.” With a declaration of her intent , she reaches into her big coat pocket and creates a gun before pulling it out. To an outsider’s perspective it looked like she just pulled out a revolver from her pocket and she held it up with an audible click. “Guess I’ll try to secure yours too. So, tell me, do you feel lucky punk? Well? Do ya?.”

Koishi shook his head as the girl tried to reason with him again. He wasn't... couldn't let her have anything to do with this. He didn't have a choice in the matter no matter how much she tried to convince him. He had too many eyes watching him from the shadows. God, even his neighbor was in on it!
"This isn't something that some hero can come along and solve." Did she not know crime like this worked? The only way they stayed in business was because the law was in on it, not in spite of it. If he went to the law about this they would just leave him in the cold and probably shoot his mom dead while they were at it.
"There's no way that they'd have a hero keep me or my mom safe the rest of our lives." Koishi would tear his arms away from the now-solid material that had poured from his hands only moments before. They made him take action into his own hands. The ones that she claimed could help him were the ones responsible for the situation he was put in right now!
But... but... Koishi raised his arms, that strange quirk of his pooling at the tips of his fingers. He couldn't do it. The way she talked reminded him of his mother, naive and forgiving as she was. The man's arms dropped to his side. In truth, he never wanted anything to do with this. He never wanted to debase himself as a criminal just to keep his mom alive.
"Y-yeah. I'm done with-" The man, dejected and unable to find the words for a proper apology, would start to reach out to one of the extrusions that his quirk had made before, but would stop as soon as he saw the other girl reach into her bag from the corner of his eye. What the hell was she talkin about?
*CLICK*
"W-w-where the hell did you get that!?" Koishi tried to shuffle back a meter or so, but quickly stumbled on his own feet and fell on his ass. He would fail several times more to get to his feet as his mind raced between righting himself and running away. He raised an arm in self-defense, as if such soft and sinuous flesh had a chance at stopping anything like a bullet
"Get the hell away from me!" That strange, grey liquid would pour from the mugger's arm as he flung it wildly in front of him, blobs of the stuff quickly hardened into dagger-like spikes of stony material as they flew towards the girls! He would use the opening to clamber himself to his feet and sprint away! He didn't care where he was going!

The villain didn't have much faith in heroes, and to Misa it sounded like he might have had a good reason to feel that way. Something about the tragic criminal pinged at her sympathy radar. She knew that heroes were often overworked and didn't have the ability to respond to every crime every time. That said, she still thought he had a better chance asking them for help than stealing from random people on the street! She thought of how to convince him, but before she came up with the right words the man seemed to give up on his own.
"Listen, a hero might not be able to be with you all the time but they can at least help get you somewhere you'll be safe, can't they? Like some kind of protection program?"
The stranger girl seemed to be trying to help, but her way of going about it was a little... morbid. She was talking about how the bad guys wouldn't kill their debtor, but instead torture him? Misa gave a weird look to the girl, raising a brow. Maybe she was just... strange?
No, it was more than that. The girl produced a gun, talking about protecting her own safety. Misa instinctively stood between the gun and the surrendering villain. "Hey! Woah! You shouldn't have that, buddy! Those are illegal. Calm down!"
The gun panicked the would be villain, though, and suddenly Misa was caught between the gun and the weird quirk that the man was launching off. Dagger like rocks. Misa raised a hand to cover her face, one of the daggers digging into her wrist and making her drop her bags. Oh no! This was bad!
"Hey! Wait! You can't just go!" Then she glared back at the gun girl. "Are you happy now, dummy?!"
She ran after the villain, paper wings growing on her back as she tried to keep up!

“Oh well gee, sorry for being a girl looking out for her own safety.” Sora sniped back at the hero in training with an annoyed tone in her voice. “Now if you don’t mind.” Several gunshots rang out as her arm moved, aiming and pulling the trigger of her created weapon with practised ease. Each dagger that wasn’t stopped by the hero student girl was met with the thundering force of a well aimed bullet. She lowered her revolver slightly and checked how many bullets she had left. ‘Tch, empty already?’ She lifted the smoking barrel in front of her lips and blew before twirling the gun in her hand and swiftly sliding it back into her large pocket.
She eyed the retreating form of Koishi and figured that she’d still be able to hit him if she wanted to. “Not to sound worried, but he is getting away.” She motioned with her head towards Koishi. “You wanna go after him or something, he is a criminal after all. He could do to someone else what he just tried to do to us.” She considered things for a moment. “In his current state of panic he might even end up hurting even more people but that’s no longer any of my business.”
“If you want though, I’m half sure I could still hit him from here.” She stated like she was just telling her a fact. “So what do you plan on doing now, miss hero student?” She replaced the revolver in her pocket with a new fully loaded one but didn’t take it out just yet. “He is getting further away from us and who knows what kind of trouble he might get up to.” She did nothing as she watched the man sprint away. “What’s it going to be?”

'Get away! Get away! Get away get away get away get-!' The words tumbled around back and forth through Koishi's mind. Where could he go? How did he get here in the first place? He was going to be dipping and running through alleys and backstreets that he didn't even have a clue on how to navigate!
The boy jolted as gunshots rang out around him, swerving about certain that the next one would land on him if he didn't have luck on his side! None of them would hit him, but he had no way to know that they were not aimed for him. He could only understand that he had the opportunity to get away from this insane girl and that he was going to take it!
Koishi took only a quick look back to the both of them as he slid and turned the corner, stumbling, and only barely able to avoid planting face-first into the concrete below him!
"Oh my fucking god!" He tried to exasperate as best as he could, but it wouldn't come across as anything other than a series of sobbing pants that spilled out of his mouth and eyes! He swore, if he got to live another day he would never try to take anything but an honest yen in his life! Please, he didn't care who he prayed to, whatever deity would listen! He just wanted to live another day! He could figure it out from there, start fresh somewhere else.
His momentum would carry the boy near a stray trash can and tumbling to the ground as its contents spilled on top of him!
"Shit shit shit!" He was overusing his quirk already, poorly trained and practiced as he was. Once more, that strange liquid would flood from his arms and start to take shape. Given the opportunity, he would build a glaring wall to block his pursuers from his path which, on the other side, would present Sora and Misako with a barrier pocked with glaring spikes and sharp spines in the hopes they would let him make his escape!
