Dusk had hit, and like clockwork Mega awoke from her little sleeping chamber. Chamber wasn't necessarily an understatement considering the support equipment she needed to suppress her quirks growth either; going to sleep half standing in something that looked like science fiction sarcophagus. She'd been going short on sleep lately, only getting fourteen of the normal eighteen she works with each day.
Raising upwards, a hissing vented gasses out into the room she slept in whilst a cage slid over her form to maintain compression. Then, sliding forward on a short rail she'd be carted right into the back of her suit that'd enclose around her. Just like that, the pro hero turned educational superpower was ready for the day. Of course, there was the tedious process of hygiene and eating while suited up, but getting her food through fluids and having support equipment for all other daily necessities largely allowed her to maintain her cleanliness and dignity while combating the harsh drawbacks of her quirk.
Not wanting to waste time given she's awake for such a short amount of it, within fifteen minutes she was out of the door and walking the streets of Musutafu. Normally she had a route that went along the beach; she'd always felt a connection with the ocean even though she wasn't all that water fit with how heavy she was. At least her strength allowed her to swim, but it wasn't pretty. This time she'd wanted to change it up, fight against that routine that was so oppressively drilling itself into her head. She hated routine after all, and with the introduction of an actual operating schedule that required her to be awake and alert smack center in the middle of the day she'd about had enough of it. The free time she did have, she'd be erratic with.
The suited behemoth walked down the sidewalk. More than three heads over a large majority of other pedestrians, some steered clear while others were familiar with the Pro Hero from either her recent Hero work or her long career as a Vigilante that served to protect innocent people against Villains (who used to just be called Criminals, but things change, she supposed). She had a knack for smelling blood if it was at all relevant, an oddly useful skill when plenty of violent crimes play out the way they do. Though those glowing pupils just shone brightly whilst swivelling from sidewalk to sidewalk, in between alleyways and through shop windows.
Usually a day never went by without crime of some kind, or outright villainy. Times used to be worse than now, but it was still bad. She hated herself for how much energy she needed nowadays to function, she wanted to be out doing more and living her best self. Though she supposed falling into a spiral of sleep and comfort was also a sort of nice experience, it eased her mind to know she at least had the luxury of a lot of years ahead should she not die because of growing too large.
So the question was on her mind...
What would today bring before her?

| ◀ | Prezioso fascio di gioia ❤ Ingrid was close to a breakthrough. So very close. While juggling her school life, friends, and villain work, the girl had been busy working on her latest (and at this point in time, greatest) invention. A strong, sturdy, and dependable robot guardian of sorts. As the tech genius villain In-Grid, the girl was bound to end up needing some protection. While she was not completely defenseless per se, and she certainly knew how to fight, Ingrid's expertise lay in technology, not combat. She was the brains, but she needed some brawn. And if she could not find someone to be that brawn for her, then she needed to just build it herself.
So every day, Ingrid worked on her secret project. Every day, she would dedicate a bit of her time to save up some money, use said money to gather materials, construct parts from said materials, program an advanced AI, and did her best to keep it all beneath everyone's noses. It was imperative to keep what Ingrid called 'Project Blade' a secret from everyone. Secret from her parents, secret from her friends, and even a secret from the villains she worked with. The girl wanted to be absolutely sure that her project was ready before announcing its existence. She wanted to get it down perfectly. There could be no mistake. Everything needed to go according to plan.
So it was time for some beta testing. Time to bring out the prototypes, and use them as data to help perfect the final product.
The plan was simple. Go up on one of Musutafu's many rooftops, remain hidden from sight, bust out the three prototypes, and let the robots loose below, wreaking a bit of havoc while Ingrid observed, took notes, and watched it all go down. The robots would be wearing hoodies and cloaks that hid their body shape, so it would not be immediately obvious that they were not human. Their faces were even covered in masks, and their hands covered with gloves. To any regular person, it would just look like three hooligans who didn't get the memo that it was way too late to dress up for Halloween.
However, there was a bit of a problem. As Ingrid took out her binoculars to survey the area, she spotted a pro-hero several blocks down. The girl knew that there was bound to be a hero on patrol, but she did not expect one to show up so quickly. Dang it, Ingrid thought to herself. There's one out here already? Thanks to keeping tabs on every new hero that showed up (especially in her home turf of Musutafu), Ingrid already recognized that one. A fellow mutant. A powerful physical brawler from the looks of it. Jeez, why do these crummy heroes always have to get in the way? I just wanna have some fun!
But then an idea hit Ingrid. If the girl had a light bulb on her head, it would start glowing right now. A mischievous grin appeared on her face. Ooh, I just realized something big! This hero isn't throwing a wrench in my plans at all. In fact, I think you'll be helping me out instead! Ingrid did need some valuable data when it came to combat. How else would her eventual robot guardian be able to sufficiently protect her from any threat?
So now it was time to carry out a new plan. Have these robots take on that hero. It was unlikely that they could actually pose a threat, as these robots were just weak prototypes. Still, they should at least last long enough to record some very important pieces of information. Information that Ingrid would use to make her secret project the best version of itself that it could be.
There was one problem, however. Ingrid needed to remain close by the prototypes to gather any useful data. But she did not want to risk being seen by the hero. It would suck to be caught and then apprehended. No, that could not happen! This was a major issue that needed to be solved. But how?
And then it hit her. What was the best place for a villain to hide from a hero? In plain sight! And what was the best way for Ingrid to avoid drawing attention to herself in a way that would link her to these robots? By pretending to be their target! Yes, if Ingrid commanded these robots to go after her, then she would seem like nothing more than an innocent damsel in distress! All she needed to do was cry out for help, and the hero would no doubt do everything to save her. It was such a brilliant plan! I never cease to amaze myself! Why was I so blessed with such a big brain? Absolute genius!
So now it was time to set the plan into motion. Getting off the rooftop, Ingrid slipped into a nearby deserted alley. Using her tablet, Ingrid wirelessly transmitted instructions to the three hooded and masked robots: Wait for 200 seconds, then try to ambush her (but not actually kill her, since that would be incredibly stupid). If someone comes in to protect her, go into attack mode and try to savagely beat them with their simple weapons. If not, then attack every civilian in sight. After doing this, Ingrid put her tablet and binoculars away in her backpack, and began to casually stroll to one of the stalls at the shopping district. To any outsider, she would look like nothing more than a schoolgirl who was waiting in line to buy some food.
The 200 seconds had passed, and the robots began to carry out their orders. They came out of the alley and immediately began to rush towards the crowd of people, with wooden baseball bats in hand. Naturally, the crowd began to scream and panic, scrambling to get out of there. Ingrid, doing her best to look shocked and scared, began to run away. She ran in the same general direction that she saw the hero from earlier, in the hopes of getting their attention. However, Ingrid was also careful enough to run behind a few civilians to make it less obvious that the robots were targeting her specifically.
Alright, phase 1 of the plan was complete. Time to get the attention of that hero. "SOMEBODY HELP! SAAAAAAVE MEEEEEEE!" Ingrid shouted as loudly as she could while continuing to flee from the pursuing trio of 'hooligans'. She could not wait for the next part of this game to start. It was all so exciting! Still, Ingrid was careful enough to not actually look excited. Instead, she continued to run and scream alongside the other civilians as the robots continued to give chase.

A shark certainly had a lot of beneficial traits to being a pro hero. While Masuyo may not have had proper fins or the actual physical body of a shark she had most of the traits and was very much a physical manifestation of the aquatic species if they were to be Humanoid and adapted to life on land- at least besides being massive, that didn't quite fly with the reduced oxygen levels on Earth paired with gravitational forces. Nevertheless, they did have many perks that aided them in hunting prey. That incredible ability to detect faint traces of blood for miles wasn't necessarily limited to just that, but technically applied to many other scents as well. The one in particular that was so relevant in the case of Mega was her ability to smell for better or worse... (especially when it smells terrible) perspiration or in layman's terms, sweat.
Even more precisely, the increased perspiration as a fear response. That was why she excelled at being a Hero at night, because she could more easily navigate her way to situations where people were afraid or in danger than some other Heroes. If she were active during the middle of the day, it'd be more difficult to tell when mixed with the fact that the beating sun skews her 'radar' for lack of better terms. So it was only natural when a crowd of civilians were rushed by weapon wielding assailants a clustered group of spiked biological fear responses would be a key indicator that most Heroes didn't have the luxury of utilizing. Already before there was even a scream, Mega was making her way there. Though in order to no hurt herself, she needed to be careful and maintain a jog instead of a full sprint due to the self inflicted damage such rapid movements with a body as bulky as hers could cause.
That was largely, again, her biggest downside. Truthfully without those very niche sensory abilities that applied to the job she'd have a slower response time than most heroes just due to how fast she was, but that trait of hers about evened it out with how sophisticated it was. Though she'd found a lot of her abilities declining with the change to her circadian rhythm doing a massive blow to her energy levels. In time, perhaps she could actually be capable of detecting even more information in various ways if she could recover and... optimistically, maybe even improve this far into her career.
Rounding a corner to intercept the fleeing crowd of civilians, in the night those glowing rose irises pierced downwards and served to be much more intimidating to normal civilians that didn't know who Mega was as a professional Hero than many others in her line of work. Though much of her fame for any she might have came more so from being that sort of personality than not. Yet with a few decisive strides that covered dozens of meters collectively she went to move between the group of victims and assailants, a hand gently hovering over and around Ingrid as she was the last person fleeing.
It seemed that while technically if she was more in tune with her senses she might be able to notice Ingrid wasn't actually as afraid as she let on, being thrown off cycle and being low on energy after having to function in the middle of the day worked to the villains advantage. It looked as if the Hero was absolutely none the wiser, completely clueless.
"Don't worry, you're safe now. I, Mega, will handle it from here. If you can, stick around for the police to question when they get here." She said without yelling, an advantage to being so big was the booming bass of her voice, making her able to communicate without having to strain her voice any in chaotic situations. So long as Ingrid carried on her act the Hero would have her undivided attention on the three what looked to be thugs.
It was the kind of thing that made hairs stand on end, trying to piece together why three random thugs would be chasing a random group of civilians out on the streets. Proper criminals and villains kept things on the down low in alleys and subtle interactions and usually only the formidable ones openly made a scene- but often with a purpose. Did they just want to send a message by hurting people? Were they hired to do this by someone above them? She'd worked a lot of different cases (a very professional way of putting the process of clobbering villains big small and in between) and this one fit into a very small percentage of the things she's used to seeing. Usually, as experience would dictate things like this were like the tips of icebergs, but all that mattered for the moment was handling it and protecting the civilians. After all, Mega wasn't a Hero to actually fulfill the obligations of justicing- no, nowadays it was about the money while during her years as a vigilante it was for the thrill of battle.
The Hero had come to a full stop, standing like a statue as the 'thugs' closed in. Raising their weapons high, Mega was a strange fighter. She used burst tactics, and conserved her energy as much as possible to make the attacks she did perform as devastating as possible. She also had the instincts of an opportunistic predator, meaning when she saw a vulnerability she impulsively jumped on it before she even had a moment to consider otherwise. Of course, this was useful in a lot of cases, but just like an animal it relied on things less than unpredictable. Unknowingly, it was a boon she was dealing with robots.
There was a moment when one of the several constructs raised their weapon high into the air to attack Mega with it, and that was when the force of her body kicked into gear. With the sound of burst movement, a massive bang echoed outwards as the pro heroes entire body twisted to deliver a massive punch towards the first attacker. If it was successful in hitting, the strike would seem to be forceful enough to effect an area 5-7 feet around the robot. If it missed, it was just a lot of pushed air.
Of course, there was a reason she was infamous for wracking up big bills for collateral damages. Her strike being outnumbered opened her up to the two other robots who brought weapons down hard onto her suit. She was durable no doubt, and had heightened regeneration, but her suit did not. If her suit were to be compromised... Well, then her life would be even more difficult going forward.

| ◀ | Prezioso fascio di gioia ❤ If not for the fact that the girl was supposed to be pretending to be fleeing for her life, Ingrid would have been smiling and laughing. The whole thing was going great so far. Her precious prototypes were all performing spectacularly. If not for the fact that the robots were programmed to never actually harm their creator, Ingrid would have actually been showing a hint of genuine fear right now. She felt bad at what would inevitably happen to them once the pro hero arrived, but it was all going to be worth it. Collecting this data was necessary, so sacrificing a few robots were a fair compromise in order to create the ideal bodyguard.
Naturally, the three robots would not remain silent. It would be too suspicious if the prototypes did not speak at all. They were all programmed to speak in a manner similar to humans. Not a completely perfect replication of the human voice, but it would be very difficult to tell at a glance that the voices behind the masks were not completely human. Unless one really listened closely, there was nothing that would immediately reveal that these masked and hooded bad guys were anything more than demented and bloodthirsty hooligans.
"Alright boys, let's get em all!" "Fuck yeah! No mercy! No survivors!" "HAHAHAHAHAHA! SMASH! DESTROY! MURDER!"
Shaking in fear (or at least pretending to), Ingrid let out a loud sigh of relief upon seeing the heroine come to the rescue. Looking at her up close, Ingrid was impressed with the heroine's appearance. But now was not the time to admire the cool armor. No, it was time to play the role of frightened victim. "A-alr-right. Th-thank you so much, Mega." Ingrid backed away a bit, seemingly to give the heroine room to fight the three troublemakers. On the outside, Ingrid looked frightened, almost like she was about to cry. On the inside, however? The girl would have been grinning widely.
This is sooooo perfect! Not only did she arrive like I hoped, but she even gave me a reason to stick around! All according to keikaku!
Now to sit back, relax (while pretending not to), and watch the show.
"Great, a damn hero coming in to ruin the fun." "FUCK YOU, STUPID LAW DOG! GO CHOKE ON A DONUT!" "You know what? Let's just choke this bitch ourselves. Get her!" And with that, the three robots charged in, ready to attack the heroine.
What they were not ready for, however, was just how powerful this heroine was. One punch. One punch was all it took to send one of the robots flying. It was nothing short of a miracle that it even survived the impact rather than shatter into billions of pieces on the spot. However, the robot did crash onto a wall, struggling to even move, let alone free itself. "OWWW." Fortunately for the pro hero, she was not dealing with a human. There was no need to worry about accidentally killing them. Of course, she would first need to learn that these three were not human.
"What the hell? How can someone be that strong?!" One of the robots seemed to be shocked (or as shocked as a robot could try and pretend to be). However, the other one seemed unfazed. "Who gives a shit? Just whack the hero harder than she can whack us! It's that simple!" The other robot nodded, then both began to charge at the heroine. Meanwhile, the third one was still embedded in the wall, still struggling to free itself.
Seeing as these robots were imperfect prototypes built from less than ideal materials, the heroine would honestly not have too much issue with dealing with them. Their attacks were slow, predictable, and easy to counter. It would not be effortless to beat them all, but it would also not be very difficult for her.
