Today was her first class teaching.
Thankfully, it wasn't the first time she'd ever taught- though it was the first time she was teaching quirkers to do the work she did that was once against the law through legal means. It was strange, reminiscing over how the times changed. Just yesterday it felt like it was every man and woman for themselves, survival of the fittest, dog eat dog in the Wild West. Now it felt structured, which she supposed had ups and downs. She wouldn't be hunched over a desk entombed in a massive suit of armor pushing pencils if there weren't some nice benefits to the recent changes. She might be out of commission or hospitalized now if proper government contacts and recent networking hadn't acquired her some rudimentary support equipment to keep her quirks progression at bay. Even this suit was due for being swapped out shortly, she found herself being pinched at various joints in the suit; not to mention feeling positively compressed like a can of tuna within the metal plates.
What was worse was when she found out her primary class was to not occur during her prime times. She could've easily managed the evening, night or wee hours of the morning; but the middle of the day? The curtains leading to the bright blue sky and relentless sun were pulled tight to bask the Megalodon quirk teacher in almost total darkness, only a few of the lights on the cast a dim glow over the room. She had coordinated with the classes previous substitute teacher to get an idea of where they were at in the curriculum, and to her understanding it was getting pretty late in their school year. It was almost lucky for her from a financial perspective, but a part of her worried if the kids had managed to get attached to the substitute. Usually schools don't have this kind of crazy staffing problems- but then again their staff members are almost entirely people who were once criminals that beat up or outright killed those who'd harm innocents. It wasn't pretty, and like those times the organization of such a progressive place wasn't either.
That being said, she'd just assumed none of the quirker kids would've opened up a textbook to look back on recent history. They'd have been... Tapping a pen against a notebook Masuyo pondered... Around ten when the laws started to come in? At ten years old she was preoccupied being an absolute doorknob at elementary school, bullying kids for kicks. It also happened to be the year she got her quirk, something told her these kids got their quirks even sooner than she did. Normally she was rather lax, but bored out of her mind in the handful of hours she was active each day she'd at least read up on their files. Which, the fact they had files detailing a lot of information made her shudder when comparing it to the relatively less oppressive times she came from.
Though, they were just kids. They'd get used to the world as maturity came upon them, being too aggressive trying to enforce old views might just make their studies harder. So she leaned back in the chair with a loud creak, head thudding against the chalkboard as her rose irises looked forward into the room. Looking at the small monitor on her desk, it looked like class would start soon. She wondered what types of kids they were.
How many were prim and proper, showing up ten minutes early?
How many made it for the bell?
And, most importantly... How many were going to try their hardest to coax out her anger by being late?
The massive, nine and a half foot tall fully suited teacher didn't know, but she'd be lying if she wasn't curious. Music: Classroom AmbienceNotes: Come say hi to Mega to prevent UA from burning to the ground!

Post by Yuhiko Yuzuki on Dec 18, 2020 13:10:21 GMT -4
♔As class president of 1-B, there was probably no one more eager to see the arrival of the new teacher than Yuhiko. He had mixed thoughts on the previous hero who had once held the position of teacher of class 1-B. While Yuhiko did have some disagreements with some of the ideals and priorities of that man, he at least respected the man as a hero well enough. Whatever the reason for the hero's departure, Yuhiko had done everything in his power to ensure that the class was in capable and competent hands while everyone waited for the void to be filled.
Now that the void had been filled, Yuhiko wanted to be one of the first students in class, if not the very first. Not that there was much reason to think that anyone else would beat him there. Yuhiko was one of the few students in that class to take his studies extremely seriously. Unlike some of the others, Yuhiko had nothing to distract him. No friends, no social life, no fun hobbies. It was just work, work, and more work. And honestly? He would not have it any other way. Who needed distractions like friends? Not Yuhiko. All he cared about was success. Working hard so that one day, all his efforts would pay off. Until then, all he could do was stay on top of his classwork, and make sure the other students did not get out of line.
Upon arriving, Yuhiko saw the new class 1-B teacher. As expected of someone with his upbringing, Yuhiko gave the heroine a short yet polite bow. "Good morning, ma'am. I'm Yuhiko Yuzuki, this class's president. If there's anything you need, it is my duty to assist you however I can." There was no need to waste words or act all cheery when it wasn't necessary. Just getting to the point while remaining stoic yet respectful. After his brief introduction, Yuhiko took his seat. He was curious to see how this teacher would fare compared to the last one.
While waiting for the others to arrive, Yuhiko began to think to himself a bit. I do hope none of the others are foolish enough to try and give our new teacher a hard time. If anyone even thinks of embarrassing themselves and not live up to the standards expected of us heroes-in-training, I'll do everything in my power to make them regret such a foolish action. I would think that everyone should know how to behave by now. Not that Yuhiko didn't trust his fellow classmates, but he had a hard time acknowledging most of them. Very few of them looked like they were taking their time at UA seriously enough. Yes, there were some competent heroes in the making mixed in with the troublemakers, but most of the students here (not just in 1-B, but the school as a whole) seemed to give off the impression that they were just here to have fun. UA was not a typical high school. Why could the morons who believed otherwise not see that?
But enough of that. Yuhiko was here to learn how to become a top hero, and assist those who actually cared enough to want to do the same. With the same neutral expression he always wore, Yuhiko sat in his seat, arms crossed as he waited for today's lesson to begin.

Post by Kiersa on Dec 18, 2020 18:08:59 GMT -4
Kiersa took in several slow deep breaths as she walked down the schools hallways, checking her reflection nervously now and again in the windows as she passed them by. They had a new homeroom teacher, and she wanted to make a good first impression. Especially seeing as she was the Vice President for Class 1-B.
So she'd decided to tie her hair back into a ponytail, which had the result of showing off her pointed elf-like ears more than she was used to, but after having spent nearly nine months here at UA now she had managed to gain a little bit more confidence in herself. Appearance wise at least. When in school uniform. She still had her issues of course, but those would be worked out in time as the years went on. Hopefully.
It had been tricky with their Hinata-sensei's absence, but surprisingly Yuhiko had managed to help keep things in line for the most part. Kiersa had only had to wince a couple of times and give a handful of "umm" prompts with a few of his choices in the interim which smoothed a couple of bumps over with the other students in their class. It was honestly a system that seemed to work... kind of. But she didn't mind it honestly.
Right now though she had a good impression to make. As she arrived at the classroom, she could see that Yuhiko had already taken up his seat and that their new teacher was here as well... who was absolutely massive. If anything she was even larger than Burabura had been!
Kiersa gave a polite deep bow to their new teacher. "G-Good morning sensei. I am Kiersa Bec, Class 1-B's V-Vice President. It is a p-pleasure to m-meet you and if you need anything, j-just ask and I will do my best to help however I can." said Kiersa, managing to get through the greeting with less stuttering than she usually did. It seemed that the vocal lessons with Mora-sensei were paying off. She then took up her seat, and waited for the rest of the class to arrive.

Post by Alviss Wulfhart on Dec 19, 2020 0:32:34 GMT -4
Alviss had slept in ironically as he had almost forgotten that today was the debut of their new homeroom teacher. Thing was Alviss had been one of those people to sometimes not pay attention in class and even go so far to forget to come to classes in the first place. This time was almost no different, almost that is.
He barely made it to the room in time as he was only seconds away from being late for class. Completely out of breath he felt a little stupid for running in the halls, something of which was also not the best choice but considering how he was going to be late he should be glad he made it in time, for once.
Panting a bit the Red Panda mutant had worked up quite the sweat, he could normally run a lot faster if he used aspects of his quirk but this was the most honorary hero school ever so he couldn't be the one to break the rules and use his quirk outside of regulations. "Made it in time..." Alviss said as he opened the door after wiping the sweat from his brow. Luckily unlike the last time he had forgotten his uniform for something important this time was different.
He was in fact wearing said school uniform, no matter how uncomfortable it was sometimes. "Hello you must be our new homeroom teacher, nice to meet you!" he would say with an energetic tone despite being somewhat out of breath, which anyone could really notice at this point. He barely made it after all so he was tired from the jog as he would like to call it.
"Name's Alviss Wulfhart, I don't have a fancy title like the others here but I am looking forward to your instruction all the same." he said with a confident smile. Thing was he was putting on an act again, he was actually pretty nervous, especially with how scary their teacher looked in that suit. Was it a he or a she? It was hard to tell, but he did overhear the word ma'am before coming in the door from another student, he'll just assume it's a woman for now until otherwise stated.
Taking his seat he would curl his tail out of the way of his feet and make sure to place his things next to his desk. Yeah she was definitely scary but here is hoping this teacher wouldn't be mad at him for being almost late, out of all the times he had been late to class, which he internally hoped she didn't know about those either.
He loved it here in UA sure but sometimes things could get out of hand and he would forget to set his alarm clock. Though this was his own fault mostly this time as he forgot that this class was in the middle of the day instead of earlier in the morning, so he naturally forgot that he was going to have a class even at all but luckily he made it in time for once.

"Pull yourself together."
The young boy would mutter to himself. The past few days? Weeks? Since Hinata-sensei had left had forced the entire class into a schedule that was different from anything any of them had experienced since starting at UA. Amare of course was adapting as effectively as he could with the life of a student colliding with his social life. Books and notes over parties and phone numbers was not something the budding talent liked or figured he deserved but something he understood was necessary. Although in his moments of quiet, those long lonely hours in the morning or night Amare could not shake an intense feeling. The sweaty palms, the rapid beating of his heart as his mind brought him back to the days he spent in the city stealing. How could he simply forget the adrenaline pumping through his veins at the thought of being so skilled at doing something that is considered bad everywhere.
It was not his fault. The theft he did was nothing big. A few chip bags, some fruits. Even a couple cases of pop if he was feeling inclined. Never had he been caught, and the rush he felt each night when he returned made him if only for that night's sleep, forget about Colt. The break-up was rough enough. Words were exchanged and so were blows, though Amare kept his composure throughout it all. It was not until that night, and every night thereafter that his emotions towards the situation came out.
The nightmares started small. An abrupt awakening in his bed, his clothes drenched in sweat. Easy fix, just wear less clothes. Then came the broken walls created by the punches and kicks thrown in his sleep. Another easy fix paint and some sanding got the patches fixed. However no matter how many times he attempted to fix the aftermath of the nightmares, they kept coming. Eventually he ended up in the nurse's office receiving medicine to "help him sleep." Honestly he just needed something that would knock him out cold, preventing his mind to create these nightmares that kept plaguing his dreams. This was just another quick fix and Amare soon found himself back in his own bed dreading the moment when he would have to fall asleep and face his dreams.
It was a few weeks after being forcefully moved from the nurse's office and back into his dorm, the pilfering started. The first time was to help a boy who looked down on his luck get away. Then it continued the two youngsters becoming a sort of delinquent duo around town. Soon enough Amare began to realize that whenever he would close his eyes, he would imagine the thrill and that would keep his nightmares at bay. So he kept looking for more opportunities to pick and pocket items that people would usually pay for.
It has been quite some time since then. Amare could not begun to count the amount of things he has stolen though he could count the amount of restful nights he has had. Before class he even went to return the medicine the nurse gave him to help him sleep. He would not be needing those anymore, he found his own remedy and this one worked 100% better than anything the UA nurse could give him.
"Sorry I'm late, got a note."
Walking into class with his bag slung over one shoulder he would lazily hold up a doctor's note excusing his lateness signed and dated by the nurse. The classroom had the usual suspects in it, the one he was hoping to see had clearly not arrived yet. The drab look of the room would of instantly been illuminated had she been sitting in her seat.
Acknowledging the new teacher in all his?her? armored glory, Amare would leave the note on the teacher's desk before finding his seat his bag hitting the desk with a thud. How much longer would he have to stay in for this class? He wanted to sleep tonight and in order to do that, there was one very important thing he needed to do first. Perhaps he could bother Yuhiko for a bit during class to pass the time, the boy was super stuck up after all.
