throw out the map, don't look back No matter how hard he tried, Bishop just couldn’t get a break. Sure, running jobs was getting them what they needed, but ever since Wes had boycotted actually helping out most of the time, it had gone back to just what it’d been like when they’d first started: living off 24/7 store pocketed stuff and the occasional snagging things off people walking on the streets. Bishop couldn’t pull the good scams by himself, and while he knew he could just overpower people and take it...there was that whole ‘getting caught’ thing. The outdoor store was still fresh in his memory, and he was amazed that no one had found them yet. He knew they were out there though. Knew they had to be watching, waiting for them to mess up. So he had to try and be at least a little careful.
Coward.
It really didn’t help that the dog was getting louder. He was always there, but ever since losing Shiloh...he wasn’t shutting up. Some days were fine, food helped a lot, but other days...he was loud. He made some good points too. Why were they bothering being careful, they were already doomed. They’d get caught, and they could handle the cops. Running was for people who couldn’t fight. Running was for cowards. Take what you want, take what you need, before it all comes crashing down. None of this was going to get better until we have the things we need, until Wes has what he needs. Until they could get Shiloh back somehow. They were living on shoestrings, they needed more. More food, more shelter, more stability. This life on the road was fun at first, but it sucked now. What they were doing now, this hiding in the shadows and living like rats, it wasn’t working. They could do better, they deserved better for all the shit they’d been through.
He made good points.
For the time being though, he was staying behaved. Listening to music seemed to help keep things in balance, so it is what he did, earbud shoved into his good ear with his music on high. It was soothing in a way, something familiar but also something loud to keep the dog from overpowering. It was the quiet where he really decided to make himself known, and if you didn’t have quiet, it worked better. Sure, it shut out his brother, but they saw each other all the time. If Wes really needed to get his attention, he knew how. As they made their way through the train station, it was no exception. He couldn’t hear a thing, certainly unaware of what was happening behind him or his brother lagging behind.
“Come on bro, slow down!”
“Oh, shit, come on Wes!”
It was far too late for him to realize now. He saw those lights starting to blink on the doors, taking a dead rush at the closing doors. It wasn’t until the doors shut behind him and he turned to find his brother that he realized two things: one, he was not next to him, and two, he was standing just outside.
Well shit.
He quickly pointed off in the direction of the next stop, then tapping his wrist. Hurry up Wes, we’ll meet you at the next stop. There wasn’t much to do after that, but without his brother to indicate when the stop they were looking for was, the music was out. Bishop pulled out his earbud, wrapping the cord around his player and shoving it into his backpack. He knew better than to use his pockets for something that valuable, they were so easily picked. Pulling his backpack off to be in his lap, he flopped back into a seat with a huff. Well, nothing to do but wait for the announcement now. He took the time to just listen in on the people around him, see what was going on, see if there were any potential targets. He wasn’t as slick with his hands as Wes, but he could still pull off the ol’ “knock things out of their hands, pocket it in the chaos” style stuff. Plus, hey, it was fun. He stretched out in his seat, yawning a bit. Keep it casual, no one will be suspicious...

What a day, such a day, a strange one at that!
[break][break]
They had orders, too many that it made the triplets heads spin round and round like a merry-go-round! Get this guy for paying me in bad bills, Mellow was so angry and such a big grump over the whole ordeal and yuck! They had to ride a train, a stinky ol' train and it put the girls in such an awful mood since they liked traveling in the lap of luxury...not...ew...public transport. This was gross and they had to take their minds off of it, way off of the matter of being among all these normal people who were boring and plain old nasty!
[break][break]
Such as the hapless man who looked raggedy like a discarded doll from some child who didn't want to play with them. A total hand-me-down of a person. Well...what Mellow don't know won't hurt him, will it? The three exchanged gazes with bemused smirks since...hee hee...it's not like they were working with Cop Bait and wouldn't have to as long as Mister Mellow-san didn't find out~! The trio looked the same aside from small little tells here and there and distinctly different scents, but the one with smaller shades glanced over to the poor fellow who was minding his own business. Not doing anything to hurt anyone aside from smelling bad, which yuuuucky, should be a crime!
[break][break]
The three had tails and all of them devil-like tails which fidgeted and twitched one after the other like dominoes. "Hey, geezer! You're stinking up our train!" Slowly rising from her seat while adjusting her small shades, she tilt her head to the side while popping her brow in an arch. "O-o-oh...sorry I..." Speaking up as though he was owning up to this like it was truly his fault for losing everything. In a way, he genuinely felt like he should have done more to keep his family and job...but he lost it all due to what he felt was incompetence. "You should be sorry! Stinking up the train, ew!" Chirped up the girl with circular clear lenses unlike her sisters, using her index fingers to poke each side and adjust her glasses with a scowl...
[break][break]
Now for the one wearing aviators, she pointed an accusatory finger while getting up from her spot, the girl with round glasses bobbling along after her. "You know what you should do if you're so sorry? You should pay us for having to deal with your appalling stench, old man..." Lowering her hand, she brought her hands up to chest level, cracking away at her knuckles and people seemed scared of her along with the other two girls...almost like they knew something and preferred not to bother stepping in. Maybe it's because they'd been around the block...
[break][break]
They'd been stuck on this train for a while and hah...they didn't even notice the displaced kid on the train, nor did they really care to bother cause ewwwww what a normie! "W-wait..." This poor man who looked as though he'd seen better days was so worried since he didn't have much at all...but he was patting around for change to save himself from being hurt.
[break][break]
Those three young women were speaking in Japanese as with the man...would anyone step in or even try...?

what's up danger? Just listen for the stops, Wes’ll meet him at the next station, that’s all he had to do. Sure, he couldn’t understand what most of the announcements were saying, but they’d been trainhopping here long enough to recognize what stops sounded like. Bishop didn’t need Wes to announce them if he didn’t have his headphones in anyway. ...But that also meant he couldn’t keep the dog in check with the music, and he was getting discontent. There weren’t even any good ‘targets’, everything was just too public. Couldn’t even pull the accidental drop jobs. Nothing to entertain him.
We could go so much faster on all fours, this rumbling hurts our ears, it hurts your ears, shut up dog. Eat up. He dug a half-eaten bag of gummy candies from his pocket, grape this time around. Not the best flavor, but they should be able to do the job. It helped to chew on things, he’d learned that pretty early on. He’d have preferred something with a bit more...chew to it though. God, he could kill for some jerky. He hadn’t found a good jerky since they’d all been back in the States, and he’d run out of that real quick on the trip over. Reminder to go looking for that again sometime. They had to sell it somewhere in this damn city. Or something fresher, but that was hard to shove in his pocket for snacking on the go.
This isn’t food. I know, just take what you can get, we’ll get something soon. However, his troubles were just beginning it seemed. Being as tuned into conflict as he was, he knew the tones of voice once he heard them. Sure, he couldn’t understand a single word that was being said, but he knew the tone. He sits up a bit straighter, eyes scanning the car for the source of it...until there it was. He noticed the clothes first, those more tailored semi-formal looks, but the realization of the ears and tails came shortly after.
Quirkers. He rose to his feet, hiding his attention with a stretch before moving a bit closer to get a better read on the situation. After all, he was just getting closer to the door, right? It turned out to be exactly what he suspected. He knew that tone. The disheveled looking man, the nicer dressed trio, he knew a shakedown when he saw it. Hell, he’d done them himself, albeit on...much nicer dressed people. He looked around himself, but no, no one was going to do anything. If anything, they were averting their eyes to pretend it wasn’t happening.
Fucking cowards. Just like the States, guess that’s everywhere. We shouldn’t do anything, we have to, you’re right. That wasn’t a fight that was hard to win in the teen’s mind. He already hated seeing stuff like this, but add in his current mood? Oh, the dog didn’t even need to push. Was it a good idea? No, but his body was moving before his brain could totally interfere. He might not speak Japanese, but he figured he could get the point across. He pushes forward, past the others on the train to get behind them before speaking up.
“Hey, you know it’s a weak-ass thing to shake down people who don’t have anythin’ to give and can’t fight for themselves, right? Or do you have dog brains to go with those ears? For change too, like how pathetic can you get.”
Sure, he was picking a fight, but he didn’t really care. If he could distract them long enough for the guy to get away, then it’d be worth it. Plus, hell, if they actually took the bait, he’d have a fight, and god that sounded fun.
No, keep it under wraps, you’re good, we’re good… But was he though? Bishop wasn’t entirely sure of that himself, no matter how many times he said it...
