Okay... deep breaths. You were gonna do fine today. You'd been training for this and today was just the day you showed you could handle it...
She clenched her fists in her lap. A normal run of fort Slog she wouldn't be this anxious but today she had an audience, and not one just made of her classmates. Apparently Sonya had invited some people she wanted to... schmooze up to, for lack of a better term. Show them that the money put into sponsorship programs wasn't wasted, whether it be to gain political favor or win over cautious investors or the like. Yumi had to put on her best show and prove that the next generation of heroes was doing incredibly well under the Asta program.
As part of that she'd even had her gear re-made under the Asta brand. Her costume was mostly the same but the energy tracks flowing along her limbs and torso had a thin golden lining, not too flashy but it made her costume closer to the Asta colors. The design was complex enough that they couldn't really put the Asta logo on the main costume, but the general color scheme now should help evoke an idea of the company when associated with Yumi. Beyond that, representing her own 'brand' as curved lightning was important. Helped her be more relateable and less 'coorporate shill'. Or so the PR people were telling her.
The more she looked over herself now the more she was reminded exactly what was happening today... she knew she could do well but a single slip might weigh on her heavily. If she didn't beat fort slog today it might just be considered a total loss in the eyes of the viewing parties today so... she needed to put it all on the line and beat it. She hadn't done it before but she'd come close a few times. Today was the day she was gonna make sure that thing went down...
Rising up from her seat in the locker rooms, she took a long, deep breath and strode out into the main room with confidence. She held her stride, not putting a cat walk sway or even her usual joyful skip to her steps, today she was all business. She approached Sonya and the people she was working with a strong smile on her face, her hands cupped behind her back.
"Good day to you all. I hope Miss Chernova has been keeping you entertained, and I apologize for the wait. Preperations had to be perfect to ensure I could give you the best display of my capabilities." God this felt weird. She was okay schmoozing at parties and stuff cause people expected an air of playfulness from you but this was tight, professional. She could pull it off but it definitely left an odd creeping sensation under her skin, like this wasn't natural... but her act didn't falter, and her smile remained as she bowed her head low. "It is a pleasure to meet you all. I hope I live up to the expectations Miss Chernova has given you for me.~"

[attr="class","oneword1"] [attr="class","fromyou1"] @name Lets have ourselves a little fun~
you have my attention, dearie
[attr="class","itsover1"]Sonya had been looking forward to this day for a very, very long time. It went without saying that the sponsorship program and the investment in Fort Slog were only the tip of the iceberg when it came to her involvement in the hero program. She wanted to become as synonymous with it as the PSC. But in order to do that, she needed to see the program blossom, grow, and come into its own. That required money, and it required political support too.
The observation room was located down the hall from the locker rooms attached to Fort Slog. A short walk down the hall and Yumi was getting ready, and probably gathering her wits. Sonya knew she'd performed in front of audiences before, the sports festival, her peers, but this was very different. More than just bragging rights were on the line here; and she'd made sure that Yumi understood that. While-of course-offering as much emotional support as she could provide. It was the least she could do.
One of the politicians approached, a member of the defense-secretary's cadre, the woman herself was on other business and wouldn't be attending. Sonya knew better obviously, Narcissa hated UA and the Hero Program and would never be caught dead in the place. He smiled at her and gestured to the screen that was set up on the wall showing numerous feeds throughout Fort Slog as well as a holographic map of the structure in the center of the room. The map itself was blank at the moment, so as not to feed Yumi any information.
"We're all very excited, this has been a long time coming miss Chernova and I for one hope this can finally put some of those nay-sayers to rest!" He brown-nosed, placing one hand over his heart and inclining his head toward her.
Sycophant.
Sonya smiled her best smile and looked toward the others, running a single digit through her white hair; "Friends, we'll all have an opportunity to appreciate our investments both fiscal and political in just a few moments, I-ah!" She raised her voice just a bit as Yumi stepped in. "I would like to introduce you all to Curved Lighting," Sonya said, stepping over quickly and gesturing to the hero in ASTA Blue and Gold. Sonya held a glass of bubbling water in one hand and wore her usual suit and tie, not bothering with something overly dressy.
The girl handled herself well, she kept herself clipped, professional, she held her head high only bowing to show respect to those present. Magnificent
Sonya's smile was wide; "An exemplar of the Hero Program here at UA," Sonya added at the end of the girls short speech. Several of those present clapped, along with at least one of the nay sayers that were part of the gathered party. Sonya's lip curled a fraction; Well done, Yumi.
"Now we best not hold dear Yumi up, you will all have time to meet and greet afterward; she needs to get in position for her run!" Sonya said, clapping her hands and gesturing for those present to give the hero-in-training space.

This was it. The big day.
Yumi had been talking about it for quite a while, though the details were vague. An obstacle course of some kind? Some sort of combat trial for an audience to satisfy her ASTA sponsors. To her it sounded like a bit of a chicken run. 'Dance monkey, dance' type of deal but... Yumi seemed so excited, as if she was finally proving what she was capable of and how could Kai take that away from her? Besides, she insisted her boss was a nice lady and considering Kai had never met her, she had no reason to believe otherwise.
If anyone was nervous today, it was Kai. Both because she was worried about Yumi hurting herself in a proverbial ring of fire and because... well, she had a present. And she wasn't one hundred percent sure how she'd react to said present. It had been a while in the making but when she finally saw it, she wasn't ashamed to admit she teared up a little. Closing the small box, Kai made her way through the reception area, peering around at the signs to make sure she didn't get lost and wander into some fancy board meeting, especially considering she wasn't exactly dressed for the occasion.
Yep, she was in her bikini. She'd hoped for good weather today that would mean she could avoid it but uh... the clouds were pretty prominent, there wasn't really any avoiding it. Logic would have had her packing a change of clothes in her bag or something but there'd been no space, too many deliveries on the way here. Well... she hoped whoever Ms. Chernova was showing this place off too wasn't too prudish. She stopped for a moment, grimacing a little at the thought of going in there like this... she didn't want to embarrass Yumi or anything...
Yet if she turned back now she'd be late. Yumi didn't know she was coming and she'd miss her chance to surprise her. Luckily she had some contacts within the school now to call on to make sure she was cleared to enter; she'd need to thank Kirk for that later. He was a very good bro indeed. As she turned a corner, she saw Yumi exit the changing rooms and head down the corridor towards what the sign called the observation deck. Diving back behind the wall to make sure she wasn't seen, Kai observed which door she entered, before stepping over to it herself.
There, again, she hesitated. Did Yumi want her to be a part of this? Did Yumi want her here?
No, stop thinking like that Kai. She knew exactly what Yumi would say in this situation, exactly the same thing she said at the hot springs. She had to have more confidence in herself and in how Yumi felt about her. This wasn't some sort of daydream, this was real. And so, with a deep breath, she gave a little knock at the door, before opening it and peeking inside. "Uh-... er, package for Miss Tasukai...~" She tried to sound teasing and jokey but with all the eyes in the room she flubbed it a little. Awkwardly she cleared her throat before stepping inside and closing the door behind her.
"R-right, introductions... um... I'm uh... Inoue, Kaisaki! Owner and sole delivery girl for Golden Sun Direct Delivery! And I'm also Yumi's um... f-friend!" Hoo boy was it getting hot in here or what? Why did public speaking suck so bad to do? Most of the time you were supposed to imagine everyone in their underwear but considering Yumi was here that'd probably just make her more nervous. She hoped she hadn't interrupted some sort of important speech or something... fuck, why was she so nervous?
Oh right, she was half-naked. She'd honestly forgotten.
Considering Yumi was kinda the center of attention here, it wasn't hard to see her in the sea of people, especially with those snazzy lights on her suit. Kai moved over to wear Yumi was standing, blushing slightly in embarrassment as she opened up the box and held it out to her. A small necklace, similar to the one she had before but with one distinct difference. The curved lightning symbol was encompassed by a golden sun. She could wax poetic about the meaning behind it but... well, she wasn't exactly very poetic. "F-for you... uh... a good luck charm for today. Not that you'll need it, obviously! Hehe! U-uh..." She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, before leaning up to give Yumi a small kiss on the cheek, speaking to her in a low voice so others couldn't hear. "Seriously... good luck out there, yeah? Don't go getting yourself hurt... or I might have to dive in there myself to save you." A teasing wink showed she was joking... well, mostly.~

Yumi bowed her head again as she was given an introduction from Sonya too, keeping her back straight and her head held high infront of those before her, not wanting to show weakness or hesitation to any of them. She was here today to show them what she had from start to finish and boy she was gonna do just that. She may have been grasping her wrist in her other hand a little hard behind her back to keep focused but... it was what needed to be done. So long as all they saw was her confidence that was all that mattered, she'd give herself a light bruise at worse to keep her nerves pushed down. She wanted to be that cool, confident hero people... that Sonya saw her as, and damn right she was gonna do it.
"Sonya's right. As much as I'd love to meet you all and get your names more personally than reading your wiki pages-~" She seemed to earn at least a light chuckle from that, smiling in turn herself before resting a hand over her chest with another bow of her head. "I really must get ready. The moment the starting horn sounds I need to make sure I'm not just giving you all a victory... I'm giving you a show.~" She offered a simple nod, about ready to turn on her heels and leave, aaaaaaand the door to the observation room opened again.
"K-kai?" She blurted out, more than a little surprised herself and a light blush on her cheeks. As Kai introduced herself Yumi tried to think of how to play this. She was happy her friend was here, it'd be good to know someone else other than just Sonya was available to watch her hopefully not fuck up, but the surprise definitely caught her off guard. Hearing she had a package a part of her hoped she genuinely did and was just being an over eager delivery person rather than dropping in unnanounced but... Yumi had to think of how to sell this.
"W-well she's a little late but er..." She started, quickly lifting her head with confidence again. "I hope you gents don't mind me getting my own plus one. I mean Sonya invited what, 5 plus of you handsome folkes? Surely I get at least one beautiful blonde." She teased, just trying to joke off the interuption and MORE than ready to apologize to Kai later, taking her hand as she came over. "Here... come show me it in the fort room. Don't want everyone seeing my package.~"
Slipping through a reinforced door that seperated everyone from the fort's entrance and the trials within. "Sorry about that... bunch of high and snooty people not expecting a girl in a bikini. Thought it'd ease the tension if you stay and watch... h-how'd you get on campus anyway?"
Answer or no she'd still take the gift given to her, more than a light blush on her cheeks this time as she carefully cradled the emblem of the necklace in her hands... Kai had not only realized the issues with her previous necklace but... crafted her own version... briefly Yumi's brain worried this was like pasting over the tattoo of an ex partner with a new one's name. Something could still go wrong but... heehhe... fuck, it was sweet.~ Without a word Yumi cupped her cheek, stepped into her, and gave her a soft, quiet kiss on her lips, just enjoying her being her for a moment, and pulling back with another subtle peck.
"Thank you hun... let's... let's go grab dinner after this okay?~" She said softly and sweetly, tapping Kai's cheek and turning about on her heels, hooking the necklace on and waving over her shoulder. "Enjoy the show from in there okay?~"
Walking up to the entrance of fort slog, Yumi took a long, deep breath and lowered into a runner's start position. She waited to hear an initial chime, a countdown to the start. Her electricity surged over her body in time with it, a thin coating of blue energy that burned across her exposed skin and hair, her ponytail hovering behind her head, lifted by the energy, shifting left and right like an electrical charge of it's own.
Another chime, tendrils of electricity surged from Yumi's body and burned across the floor around her ready to help her take off. Her ponytail moved faster and faster.
A third chime, she put on her goggles, adjusting them briefly before her hands met the ground again... she raised her hips and lowered her front down, her eyes narrowing through her shaded goggles, the new emblem about her collar hovering off of her skin as her electricity surged through the metalic trinket.
The horn blared. The doors blasted open. Yumi burst forth and was inside the fort before the sound of the horn fully faded.

[attr="class","oneword1"] [attr="class","fromyou1"] @name Lets have ourselves a little fun~

[attr="class","itsover1"]Sonya drew her hand up to her chin and rested a knuckle against it when Kai entered. Her eyebrow raised. Yumi hadn't mentioned the girl in conversation yet, but, given the interaction it was likely she was something of a close friend. Interesting. The men seemed fairly amused by Yumi's commentary and Sonya was relieved to see they didn't make any untoward comments concerning the delivery girl's choice of attire. She was party to a delivery company that may have some sort of service focus. She was just doing her job.
Sonya couldn't help but splutter out a little laugh when Yumi went on her plus-one joke, she cracked a wide smile and looked at a few of the gentlemen-disgusting leeches-and raised her eyebrows lasciviously for a heartbeat before resting her hand on her hip. Not a single one of them judged Yumi or Kai after that exchange. They knew better now that Sonya found it all so amusing. When the two young women left, Sonya approached the control panel and tapped a few keys. There was a team of UA staff already present to help run the course as well as one presiding faculty member who kept grumpily to herself.
She keyed the final orders, and the countdown began.
Sonya crossed her arms behind her back; "ASTA Corporation provided most of the holography technology and much of the funds for designing the structure. Support gear and weapons designs were used in making many of the traps, though most of them were inspired by input by actual UA Teachers and Pro Heroes," She glanced over her shoulder; "One room of traps per month is also designed by UA's Support Studies course as part of their upkeep studies program;"
Sonya gestured to the screen. "As a rule, we have no microphones inside the facility. The participating student's vitals are being monitored constantly and if the situation becomes dire the facility will enter an automatic shutoff mode," She explained, "Fixed cameras and stealthed drones are positioned throughout the facility to give us the best angle on the action, allowing a panel of judges to observe and commentate. Normally those judges would be here but they are reviewing Curved Lightning's progress remotely via a live feed."
The clock inched closer to ten seconds. When Kai re-entered the room, Sonya would stop and properly extend a dainty hand. "I didn't get to a moment a go... it is a pleasure to meet you Kai. Yumi is very dear to me, so someone important to her is important to me," She said, "Stay with us, and cheer her on," She offered, gesturing to a seat nearby.
----
The horn blared.
The doors blasted open and revealed a bit of a curve ball compared to the usual scenario that opened out. Fort Slog had been notorious recently for having disaster scenarios set up in the lower floor since it was large enough to handle such a thing. This was... not that. At least not on the surface. The first thing she would encounter was a street barrier with the words evacuation written on the side. Ahead of her, a small suburban neighborhood stretched out; above her, even the sky was simulated with ASTA holography.
A solitary drone drifted down to the space to her immediate right;
"A SIZEABLE GROUP OF VILLAINS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SECURE THIS NEIGHBORHOOD AND TURN IT INTO A TEMPORARY BASE OF OPERATIONS. CIVILIANS HAVE BEEN EVACUATED AND THERE HAS BEEN SOME LOSS OF LIFE. UPDATED ORDERS ARE TO SEEK, INCAPACITATE, AND APPREHEND, MINIMIZE PROPERTY DAMAGE AND SECURE THE NEIGHBORHOOD," A small, tinny voice came from inside the machine which collapsed to the ground afterward.
In the distance she could see movement in one of the houses; there was no sign of the others or how many villains were present. She would have to use her best judgement.
------
Sonya crossed her arms behind her back while the men muttered quietly, impressed by what was already on display. She glanced over at Kai and winked; "Tell you a secret?" She whispered, holding a finger up to her lips; "...I've never actually watched one of the students run this thing live before, I'm a bit nervous too..."

Plus one? That thought made her blush a little. Wasn't that usually reserved for like... couples? Kai couldn't help but blink as she was suddenly whisked away to the side room with Yumi, giving an embarrassed smile at the room as they disappeared behind the door, only to deflate a little and clutch at her heart when she was out of view. That was terrifying! They were all staring daggers at her! Some lustful daggers, others of the more pointy and sharp variety. "I don't think I could survive in high society... those people can snoot with the best of 'em!" She laughed it off a little though, rolling her shoulders and taking deep breaths to calm herself as she handed over Yumi's present.
How'd she get on campus? Well... "Ehehe... you can blame Kirk for that one. The guy arranged it with the teachers in secret, wanted to surprise you. I'd intended on wearing my yukata or something but... well, lots of packages today, y'know? And it's a bit cloudy. Didn't really have a choice." She winced a little, giving a little nervous smile as she sheepishly rubbed the back of her head. "Hope I didn't ruin your debut..."
Her nervousness was blown away by the sudden kiss, causing her to close her eyes and really revel in that momentary connection, a shiver running through her as all that fear melted away. She rested a hand on Yumi's as she pulled away, smiling with that bright energy she always had. It was hard to feel uncomfortable or out of place when she was next to Yumi; this woman was a true Hero. An inspiration. Someone with the power and charisma to invigorate her like some sort of stimulant just from her presence. Honestly it was sort of hard to believe she was even real at times.
"Yeah, lets. I'm paying this time though, ok? And don't you dare try to talk me out of it. It's a present for doing your run." She knew that was going to cause an argument later but she didn't care. No way was she letting Yumi pay for their dinner on a day like this. It'd be like forcing someone to pay for their own meal on their birthday, fuck that. As the red-head turned to leave, the nervousness came back for a moment. What if she got hurt? What if... what if it was too much for her? She called out to her just as the doors began to close.
"I love you!"
With a soft 'thunk', she was gone. And Kai felt that empty dread begin to creep back in where Yumi had previously blasted it away just by being next to her. What if-...
No!
No no no no! Yumi was the strongest woman she knew, the strongest woman she'd probably ever know in her lifetime. If anyone could conquer this place, it was her. She just had to believe in her; she just had to be there, cheering her on, as usual. With one final deep breath, the bad feelings began to dissipate and her determined smile returned. They'd all see just what kind of hero Curved Lightning was.
With that, she stepped back out into the observation room, watching the screens intently from the very first moment she could see them. Another deep breath, her smile fading and her eyebrows furrowing as her gaze fixed on the situation. You can do it, I know you can. Her thoughts raced as she pushed down all that worry and focused intently on projecting as much of her positive energy as she could. If Yumi got hurt... she'd just hurt the course back harder!
She eventually found herself next to Sonya, the CEO lady that Yumi had been speaking of quite a bit lately. A striking woman, very noble and powerful even just from her posture, yet Kai only took note of her presence when she leaned over to whisper to her. Kai blinked slightly, then smiled, turning to Sonya with that bright, beaming energy again. "You don't have to be nervous anymore, Ms. Chernova..." Her hand clenched into a fist, so pumped up with energy was she, her smile turning into a grin.
"That's Curved Lightning. The strongest Hero in the world."

With that final chime from Kai, Yumi's vision was a blur. The world moved around her faster than she could keep up before a burst of light made it all clear again. Her breath was tight for a moment, but she eased up... she could do this, she knew she could, the people watching her knew she could, and oddly enough that was more assuring than anything. She looked at the slightly trashed neighbourhood ahead of her and watched as a drone flew in towards her side, glancing to it and used to this from the trial runs. Minimize property damage, take out criminals spread out across a neighbourhood. Those were the two key goals in this exercise... alright. Let's do this.
Her burst of speed came to a slowdown as she started to hear the shifting of the more human like robots in the buildings surrounding them, a slow breath leaving her lips as she got an idea for the scenario. It was still just a practice test at the end of the day so it couldn't be too in depth. At a certain point down the street enemies would 'stop spawning' so to speak. Judging from where the lights were on she guessed... 4 buildings on either side of the street. 8 Total targets to clear out with no idea of how many people were inside. She looked about her surroundings, spotting a trashed car and rushed towards it like a blue blur, sweeping the discarded door off the road and with an application of the right electrical charge it stuck to her arm like a shield. She could feel the weight of it but so long as she remained in flight it would be pretty much negligeable and her electricity would continue to compensate the weight for her. She took another easing breath, darting at a sudden 90 degree angle and barging through one of the doors, flowing into a roll and raising the door shield infront of her.
Quippy lines, cheeky remarks... thats what a hero should be doing right now but she was too focused. She needed to impress, to stun, to amaze. She heard the tinny punctures being made in the other side of the door as live ammunition from the drones pelted her makeshift shield. She heard the clock of an empty gun, and another, the others were soon to follow but she couldn't give the first one the time to reload. She threw her shield arm to the side and raised her free arm. 1-2-3-4! Rapid succession from right to left, 4 blasts of electricity to fry them entirely. No sounds from upstairs-! "Clear!" She called out mostly to herself, darting at immense speed back out of the building and down to the next one on the street.
The process mostly repeated itself, trying to add a spin to things. In one house she tossed the car door at the robot goons and manipulated it to slam into them all like a shield-erang, the next she she endtered with a sweeping kick that let loose a wide arc of electricity, stunning them all and lining them up for easy finishing shots. By the time she cleared the fourth house however the scenario altered itself, a slightly heavy on breaths Yumi meeting a street filled with the remaining robots who'd all charged out of their houses.
With all the games aimed at her, one of the robots came out. "O-o-kzzt-okay! Hands up hero!"
Yumi tutted under her breath, tossing aside her makeshift shield and raising her hands, her breath slowing. The robots raised their guns ready to fire regardless, and before the first fired Yumi shot her hands forward and solidified her stance. A ripple formed in the air around her as her personal charge seemed to intensify, using her power to amplify the repulsive force her quirk naturally generated, effectively creating an immense rejective force of magnetic energy for just a few feat. The storm of bullets came close, some even shot past her, one scraping past her shoulder, but by intensifying the forces at her direct front she managed to stop anything making a vital shot on her. At the click of empty guns sounded again, Yumi snapped her fingers, the bullets in her magnetic grasp flipping around, and with a burst of electricity, all of them fired back at the goons.
As Yumi took a second to confirm the trial was over with a sound off from the supporting drone, she rushed to the next room of the fort.
On the screens, a brief record of what had occurred displayed for the viewers.
Trial 1-A: CLEAR Difficulty: Rookie (Easy-Medium-Hard-Rookie) Civilain casualties: NA Property damage: Minimal Criminal casualties: NA
Despite the hail of bullets she'd sent back, it would seem on closer inspection Yumi specifically aimed all the bullets back at their legs and feat. In a real life situation that could risk an artery shot, but the simulation considered it good form all the same, mostly considered some grievous injury that could lead to say some leg or foot surgery, but little more.
