It was funny how things worked sometimes. One day you're helping one of the top Pro Heroes fight off a band of zombies and curbstomp a would-be villain, the next you're the villain -- or, well, make-believe villain -- going toe to toe with people you considered friends. This wasn't the first series of fights the wolf had against one of her peers and she was pretty sure it wouldn't be the last, yet that still didn't make things any easier.
Yet if there was one thing Jasmine could do incredibly well, it was put aside the personal in lieu of what needed to be done. As she walked along the street of the darkened arena they'd be using as their fighting space, the wolf was gathering herself, managing how focused she was on the task at hand. The staff of the Saikyuen establishment were kind enough to follow through on her suggested specifications for today's match. A decrepit and run down replica of downtown Tokyo which seemed almost like a disaster setting, quite sizeable yet clearly not as large as the actual city given they were inside a building. The sky was dark with only the few shining rays of moonlight escaping between the darkened clouds that dotted the sky.
Kirk was an interesting case. Much alike Jasmine herself, he was the type to employ strength, speed and acrobatics in his moveset, relying primarily on melee combat to achieve the needed result. Unlike Jasmine, though, Kirk was incredibly boisterous. And loud. Very goddamn loud. And it was because of that she chose the arena that she did. Now, granted, this did limit Jasmine's stealth possibilities as well considering how flashy her quirk was, but she was banking on the fact that she'd be able to employ the techniques she'd learned in her training with the Special Operations division.
For now, though, Jasmine had found purchase inside one of the buildings, her back against a wall, next to a window. Over her shoulder, she glanced down at the street below, waiting for any movement. Her hand rose to reveal a small screen attached to her wrist which the staff of the Saikyuen building were nice enough to provide for the wolf. A motion tracker. Simple, yet efficient, it would show any form of movement coming from a heat source.
Funny. Even if Kirk tried to be quiet and hide he'd still be on Jasmine's radar if he couldn't stay still, effectively eliminating any possibility of him using his head to come up with a counter-strategy as there'd simply be no time to do so. Jasmine reckoned Kirk wasn't much of a thinker to begin with but if he was going to beat the aggressive onslaught she had planned to put him through, he'd have no choice but to think outside the box and approach the situation differently from how he normally would.
This wasn't ever supposed to be a fair fight. Given the spotlight and subsequently microscope the Heroes of today were put under, it was only to be expected that a villain would prepare for their fight. And today? Today Jasmine got to be the villain.
For this end, there were more than enough resources provided. A gas station. Multiple water towers on top of a large number of buildings. An electrical station. Etc. Whatever one would find inside the confines of a city were all provided for the two combatants, and could be used however either of them saw fit. Even if it was just to level it to the ground.
The lass hefted a slow breath, further steeling her resolve. Dim emeralds sharpened on the spot as her face turned emotionless. She was ready.

"ALRIGHT, I'M READY! HOPE YOU ARE TOO!"
Kirk shouted into their 'arena'. A dumb move by most probably, but in Kirks mind, he needed to be sure, that there weren't any other preparations needed. Besides, it had never been his style to hide and cover. Even Kirk knew this was one of his weaknesses. He wasn't that dumb. For a moment, he just scanned his eyes across the humongous area, as he pulled his baseball bat out of the pouch. It was almost like a miniature beaten down city. All these things that looked like they would fall down at any second if hit too hard or if he took a too careless landing. Kirk couldn't help but sigh a little, as he scratched his forehead in minor annoyance. "Man, she even knew about this stuff huh...? Didn't think it was that bad yet." He rolled his shoulder in a final warm-up motion.
For a little while now, since sports festival specifically, Kirk had repeatedly ended up in situations where his overall bounciness and energy ended up with something getting destroyed. All the call-outs he recieved about it during it had brought it to his attention proper. He had repeatedly used full power on tougher foes, and pretty much made Debris fall on his bros and teammates. Trying to work with Maya whilst climbing across rooftops had brought up the attention to how much weight just him jumping had behind it. Heck, just this whole arena being made to be as flimsy as possible made it seem like this was the biggest thing in the way of him being a hero. Kirk wasn't sure if Jaz was expecting him to take this personally, or if it would hurt him actionvise.
Well, on the prior part she would at least be wrong. "No better time to train something like that, than a serious fight I guess!" In the end, Kirk had always been the sort of guy who was ready to try and improve on his problems. He was never the one to shy away from physical exercises, and fighting a fellow classmate in a semi safe environment was the definition of it. His eyes continued to look for a good spot to go for first, as they eventually locked onto one thing, followed by him lowering his body down, to get a proper launch of a start for a sprint! "ALLEYOP!"
Kirk rushed forward, with his usual lack of worry about his surroundings, as he hopped around through the debris, surprisingly not even specifically looking for Jasmine. Of course, Jasmine probably had all the information on him to abuse, so he didn't exactly need to hide his techniques. But also, he knew Jasmines quirk himself. Even though Jasmine herself was not nearly as loud as he was (although in Kirks opinion she was pretty dang close), Kirk knew her quirk was WAY louder. And if she used it anywhere in this area, he would know just from the echoes. Back in the payload days, the explosions had been her main way of maneuvering, but of course, she could ambush him from somewhere else before that. And making himself a clear target, yet keeping an ear out for anything, would make it easy for himself to react.
And of course, that quirk in itself had gotten him his target, for where he was running. Now, he didn't exactly know how those explosions worked. They had had like... one class together? Oh yeah, there was also that fight with Darren he had watched! In the end however, explosions were pretty much huge blasts of fire and flames! And smoke of course. So naturally, the easiest target to go for... was the water towers in the distance. Kirk had some ideas how to use em. But of course... who knew where jasmine was situated. Other things he knew, was that Jasmine was technically both faster AND stronger than him last time they fought! Last time a lot of her techniques relied on her coming face first to blast folks!
And in the end, one primary difference was obvious: He ran on ammo. Jasmines quirk didn't, other than her stamina. He couldn't just dodge it forever. And of course, avoiding a villain purposefully wasn't exactly heroic! Kirk just had to see if this very simple plan would lead him to something good.

By the time Kirk entered the arena Jasmine couldn't tell whether to be disappointed or amused. The motion tracker on her wrist wasn't even fast enough to pick up the male's signal before her ears picked up his rambunctious voice echoing along the barren streets. She didn't know whether he was incredibly brave and confident... or just a little dumb in the head. There was definitely some of the first two in the mix, but... she figured she wouldn't question it. How loud Kirk could get was, for all intents and purposes, Kirk's moniker. Perhaps he was planning to bait her out? Confuse her? She sighed; what a strange man.
Her back glued against the wall, Jasmine stuck to the shadows of the building she inhabited. She glanced down at the motion tracker strapped to the wrist of her Hero suit, the Mk1 Raven. Kirk had very quickly picked up the pace by the looks of things, exploding into a sprint down the broken down street. She glanced over her shoulder and through the open window, her emerald greens quickly picking up his bulky frame. Following the path he was taking it seemed like he was aiming for one of the water towers strewn about the place. That was, at least, what made sense given the straightforward idea of a counter to her abilities. She hummed to herself quietly; did he think that'd work against her quirk?
Admittedly, Jasmine hadn't tested her quirk too much underwater. She knew the moisture would definitely weaken the fire she was able to conjure quite effectively, but as far as she knew the force behind her explosions themselves wouldn't be too hindered. Her brows furrowed; whatever the case was, she wasn't about to give him any semblance of an upper hand.
Bowing low, Jasmine's feet propelled the wolf into a silent sprint, using the shadows which enveloped her pitch-black suit for cover. Utilizing her quirk right now would give away her position far too quickly -- a fact that Jasmine was sure Kirk was aware of. This ultimately meant she couldn't utilize her top speed as quickly as she'd like. However what she had going for her was her positioning: based on her initial location, the distance she had to cover to reach the target water tower was at least half that of what her opponent had to cover.
The wolf continued to monitor Kirk's progress through both the motion tracker on her wrist and what her peripheral vision allowed in all of this darkness and rubble. Just as she surmised, she reached the first water tower quickly and launched herself above it.
"Yeah, I'm ready," Jasmine said through a smirk. "But I don't think you really are." Dim emeralds suddenly flashed a hazardous crimson as Jasmine brought one of her hands forward and released a potent Mk2 explosion directly at the water tower from above, toppling it over in an attempt to have it crash down right on top of Kirk.
Jasmine reckoned she had just about three or four free seconds to get back into cover while Kirk dealt with the water tower. She'd quickly try to hop back down to ground level and dart across the street much alike a silenced bullet, taking shelter inside a run down convenience store.

It was quiet and safe trip. WAY too quiet and safe trip. Absolutely nothing happened to him during his run, and with his attention entirely on any extra sounds other than his loud steps, it started feeling ominous. So of course, when he reached his target, and saw Jasmine launching herself into the air right on top of the tower, and threw a taunt his way. "Yeah. Classic home turf advantage!" And with a loud BOOM! His plan of advantage was starting to topple on top of him! A classically bad situation for anything that was not sturdy! And even though Kirk was, it wouldn't be pleasant!
...So naturally Kirk relied on his specialty! With the momentum still carrying him a bit, he hit the breaks, his legs flattening like some sort of valve against the ground. All those squats once again proved handy, as like a spring he extended his legs launching himself backwards, as he could feel the water from the big ol crash splash against his shoes! "Whew!" However that was not the end of the maneuver! With this quick turn, he didn't try to catch himself with his legs for a clean landing, instead landing his pouch under him. And this point quite a few people knew what came next! "Okay, my turn!" His pouch opened to immense heights, launching him into the air like from a jump pad into a brief somersault, and closing it up almost as quickly to make sure nothing fell off.
As his somersault finished, he grabbed a pair of tennis balls, as he gave a brief glance to look around where she had gone... And the only place where she could have hidden, seemed to be the store. "Okay, tennis balls shouldn't break things too bad... But should still definitely hurt!" Since the place was abandoned, he could even think the people were evacuated! No risk in that regard! With that, he stomped downwards Lifting up his arms, as in time with him hitting the ground, his arms swung downwards as well, launching the balls against the floor in the store at full strength!
"RICOCHET COMBO!"
With repeated and echoing sounds of 'PATOINK!' The two balls started bouncing around the little store, hitting against the roofs and shelves like two paranoid bullets not sure where they were supposed to be going. Bruises and indents were left all around the place, as the balls had been pitched at strengths that sort of thing usually wasn't thrown with! Meanwhile, Kirk himself pulled a tennis racket, hopped a bit backwards, and prepared himself to pretty much reapply momentum and launch the balls back in to continue the assault, or to maybe thwak the criminal on the head if they tried something funny! That and he didn't need to risk an ambush if he didn't even need to get inside! "Come on out with your hands up in the air! You probably don't wanna cause more trouble, do ya?!" A bit of confidence swelled in his gut, as was clear with the tiny taunt. After all, this initial attack had turned out quite well from his perspective!

Quickly after having entered the rundown convenience store Jasmine vaulted over the counter, taking cover with great haste. She couldn't tell whether her impromptu attempt at cutting Kirk off had worked or not but she wasn't going to stick around to find out. While she would've absolutely loved nothing more than to have a proper face to face showdown with her peer, this was about testing his limits in a less than favorable environment. Rather, to try to get him to go beyond his limits once they were reached. Though by the looks of it it seemed that Jasmine's initial tactic had little to no effect. The wolf's eyes widened as alarm bells rang inside her skull. Danger. With a click of her tongue Jasmine launched herself forward just in time to avoid the initial thwack of the two tennis balls sent hurdling inside the store and towards her. A sharp crimson gaze attempted to follow the projectiles in an attempt to pin-point a trajectory she could follow up on but the numerous obstacles in her way proved to be too disadvantageous. She smirked; whether he intended to or not Kirk managed to turn what she thought was an advantage into a disadvantage.
The two balls kept slamming against objects and changing their trajectories over and over and over again, making it hard for the platinum blonde to actually keep up. They hit her a few times, forcing a wince out of her and annoying her in the process. Growling, her eyes adjusted as time passed and she managed to catch both of them the second they seemed to be making a beeline towards her, her heels sliding along the store's tiles half a meter or so from the sheer strength behind Kirk's attack. "...I'll do you one better!" Jasmine roared as she cocked her hand back and threw the first tennis ball, engulfing it in flames and explosions. The second one quickly followed suit, armed to the teeth with a chaotic counter-attack that proved to be enough to blast open the entire storefront.
She quickly braced and launched herself forward. While she was definitely aiming for a more subtle approach to the fight it seemed like Kirk wasn't going to give her any breathing room to escape after she'd been made officially. A wild grin formed on her face; that simply meant she'd have to make herself some room. The wolf launched herself back into the street, her boots clanging against the ground once they touched the pavement. Kirk was in sight. She aimed both of her hands directly at him. A feral roar left her as energies crackled around her arms. A thunderous blast left the palms of her hand, two of her strongest explosions primed to punch Kirk square in his face and send him flying. Whatever the result of her attack would be, she would use the ensuing chaos to dip back into the shadows. A dark alleyway with a broken down fire escape just above. She'd hop up and begin climbing, glancing down the edge of the roof once on top to try to make out Kirk's form. "So... what now?"

It did seem at first, like Kirk had caught Jasmine off-guard with his athletics. Taking how fast he had been able to dodge, yet still having been able to counter, hitting a quite fancy attack towards her was quite amazing. However, as he was taunting, and the pride was clear, the fall part was coming in fast. You see, Kirk had presumed that the 'villain' in this case would try to dodge the projectiles, or outright try to get out of the building! What instead followed, was something he hadn't expected at all! The girl caught the balls in her hands, and immediately pitched back at him like a miniature flaming meteor! "WHOA!" The first ball he was able to hit away from himself with relative ease, but the strings on his racket burned away. On top of that, the second one came with such an explosion, that the front of the building exploded into rubble and dust, as they flew towards him! Instinctively, Kirk would take a step back...
But then came the familiar sight. The sight that back in first year had sent him hurtling through the air! The combined hands, made so the blast would engulf his head completely, if he didn't react fast! And luckily, he was in the sport to do exactly something like that. Tennis was all about being ready for immediate counter attack, and as 'the ball' was now in his sights, he quickly hurled the racket towards, as it would slam to the side of her arms, changing the trajectory of them just the tiniest bit, as he himself tried to roll out of the way, before the humongous wave flew past him...
And yet, when the dust cleared, the girl was gone. "...Heh! That's what I get for thinking it would be that easy!" He smiled, yet bit his lip... I this was an actual situation somebody would have definitely gotten hurt in that. As he rolled his shoulder, he flinched suddenly. Yup, his shoulder had been burned proper, shining bright red. In the end, he had not been entirely fast enough to do that. But hey, atleast it wasn't his face that had been burned up! With that little skirmish, he pretty much got an even clearer picture what the situation was about: Jasmine could easily disengage whenever she wanted with explosions functioning as cover, while he himself would need to concentrate primarily on dodging them. It was indeed, a massive game of cat and mouse. Or well, in this case, cops and robbers.
But hey, despite her counter assault, his plan had worked pretty well! If he could utilize that a little bit more, she would eventually just need to surrender with all the bruises. Either that, or he would need to risk getting close to her, and try to force her into submission that way... But that was pretty much comparable to walking in front of a shotgun. She had really made this her arena. Flashiness of the explosions combined with overall darkness sure did make things funky. For now, he rubbed some of the water from the water tower onto his shoulder to calm it down a bit, before taking off again.
But where? Well, he fell against his pouch again and launched himself up a building. Maybe he could notice her if he had a better vantage point. However, on top of that, he clearly prioritized walking near the alleys. The sides of the building, which would land you into a tighter space. He was clearly planning something. Although his direction was clearly towards the electrical plant, he seemingly wasn't in any hurry, as one of his hands was grasping a basket ball, and the other was on the grip of his baseball bat...
