P.E, one of melody's most hated subjects as she REALLY hated the feeling of being sore. Luckily with her healing abilities she was usually able to recuperate rather quickly. However one thing she did enjoy after P.E was showering, nothing beat a warm shower after physical exercise. She walked out of the shower, humming a small tune to herself as she manipulated the thick mist of the shower to cover her...lady bits.. She had her hair up in a bun as she walked over to the locker and quickly put on her undergarments. However Melody seemed to have misplaced her U.A uniform. Oh great, where the hell did she put it? Was someone playing a prank on the poor girl? She brushed her hand in the bag past her perfume, her phone and her other knick knacks she kept in her bag. was it in her locker instead? No she remembered keeping it- ugh she couldn't remember anymore.
She let out a small click of the tongue in annoyance with herself. How could she have misplaced her shirt in her bag? She sat down on the bench as she dug around in her bag for a few moments. Her upper back pretty much exposed to the rest of the students in the room. "Cono, where the fuck is it?" she said as some eyes were seemed have been studying the strange mark on Melody's back.

In contrast to Melody, Jasmine enjoyed P.E.. While it was definitely a far cry from what she put her own body through in her own workouts during her free time in terms of physical load, she could still consider it a fair type of warm up. Something to get her muscles to tense and her blood flowing, as one would say. To keep her active and ready for whatever, whenever. It definitely didn't seem like it, but the wolf was always on edge. Not nervous. Not anxious. Not uncomfortable. No, she was on edge in terms of always being ready to jump into a fight if there was a need for it.
In times like these, you couldn't really afford not to be, especially when you were in the position that she and her peers were... even if most of them didn't realize it.
A soft sigh left Jasmine's lips as the cold water of the shower flowed down her body, seeped into her skin and treated her muscles. Honestly she would've preferred an ice-bath, but she had to make to with what was available between classes. Some might call it excessive. Jasmine would just call it being smart.
Having wrapped a towel around herself to cover her chest and waist, the wolf casually strolled back into the locker room with the other girls, keeping quiet and mostly to herself while the others gossiped. Past Jasmine would've likely scoffed. The Jasmine of now, though, didn't really care.
She'd dried herself off and rinsed her ashen-white hair carefully before starting to get dressed. Her school uniform had been neatly folded inside her locker, yet it wasn't the full package. She did indeed agree to wear a skirt -- even if she would've preferred pants -- but what she absolutely had to swap out was the shirt for a t-shirt. She couldn't for the life of her tell you why but she just felt more comfortable in loose clothing.
It was then that she noticed it -- something had caught her eye while she was slipping her legs into thigh-high socks. She rarely -- if ever -- stared at people, let alone inside changing rooms. But she was also someone who was acutely aware of her surroundings, even the most subtle of irregularities. This one particular irregularity belonged to one Melody Miro who the wolf knew through simple day-to-day conversations that very rarely went beyond 'hey how are you?'.
Now, normally, people probably wouldn't have noticed anything weird with Melody or the spot on her back. Hell, they would've probably mistaken it for a birthmark. It was similar enough to one, anyway. But not Jasmine, though. The ashen haired third year knew enough about body modifications to tell the difference. She herself was an experienced tattoo artist once upon a time, even if she'd long since given up on that hobby and possible avenue of income. Yet still she couldn't help herself. Melody having a tattoo? That was too big of a curiosity to refuse poking.
"Mel?" Jasmine asked, quietly. She was on sitting on the bench close enough to the girl so her words wouldn't be overheard by the other girls present. "When'd you get that tattoo done, if I may ask? It looks nice."

Melody as she searched through her bag looking for the full uniform heard a somewhat familiar voice. Oh, it was jasmine. Melody finally found her shirt and pants and put them on quickly as she called out to Jas "Yeah? what's up?" she asked curiously, she hadn't really talked to Jas one on one it was mostly just like small friendly small talk. So she figured it was gonna be more of that, this time she asked where melody got her tattoo from. She looked a bit confused, she used to think herself that it was a birthmark as her mom told her growing up but it looked slightly different from other tattoos she had seen. "Oh, my birthmark?"
she said as a her tone got a little higher pitched and she tried to play it off. She knew tattoos were immensely frowned upon in japan. She also grew up a bit from the naive child her mother raised so she knew better than to trust everything her mother said. Especially with how secretive she was. "Uh I've had it for as long as I could remember." she said as more sweat beads began to form around her head. She was obviously doing a horrible job lieing to Jaz but she hoped the girl wouldn't call her out, but from what she heard about jazz she knew the girl would probably press further.

Birthmark? Jasmine questioned the statement in her head, an inquisitive brow rising in response. Eyes as green as emeralds studied the so-called 'birthmark,' scrutinizing every single one of its contours in an attempt to make any sense of it. Which ended up being pretty hard since this wasn't like any birthmark the wolf had ever seen or read about.
One of her jobs as a responsible tattoo artist had been making sure that people's bodies could accept the ink without any extra bullshit. Very often customers would come in asking to cover up or outright remedy what they often called defects -- irregularities like skin pigmentation, blemishes, etc.. This, as a result, led to the third-year having studied the topic quite extensively to make sure her offered body modifications didn't result in any unwanted side-effects.
In Melody's case, the fact that she was a horrible liar didn't seem to help her case. She didn't need to be a genius to guess that the bluenette was hiding something, nervous as she was. Normally, the wolf wouldn't pry. Stuff like this really wasn't any of her business. Yet there was a sense of curiosity that welled up within the third year that she could only boil down to a professional tick.
"You do realize I worked at a tattoo shop, right? As an artist?" she asked, still infinitely curious. "And I've had a load of tattoos of my own? Some of which were self made?" then added, lifting up her arm to reveal the very rare discolorations of skin that painted her limb here and there as a result of tattoo removal. "If you're wondering why I removed them, it's not because Japan doesn't exactly have a positive image of ink. That idea can go screw itself."
"So... you wanna try me again? Cause that really ain't a type of birthmark I've ever seen or read about."

Melody kind of blush as jasmine was scanning her up and down. She was wearing clothes now but she still felt like she was seeing right through it. She however turned a bit red when Jasmine insisted it was a tattoo, insinuating melody was telling lies. "It-IT ISNT A LIE" she said as she pouted. Melody however changed subjects suddenly and looked at jass's skin discoloration from the tattoo removals, she wondered if Jas wanted melody's help with removing it? Her healing could help but she wondered if jas would even want her to try and remove it? every time she offered to remove scars and stuff people seemed to deny it.. she decided to wait on it a bit and get closer to jasmine first to even offer.
"I've had this ever since I was a very very little girl!" she said pulling out her phone and scrolling through it. "Give me a second. I'll prove it!" she said as she scrolled through her phone to find a picture of her as a young girl. As she pulled out her phone of melody at the beach as a baby with her mother. Albeit it was smaller than it is now the Water drop was still there, she handed the phone to jasmine for the girl to inspect further...after a few moments melody's face went red again. "I...Uh..." she said trying to push some words out. Jasmine albeit a familiar face had never really talked to melody outside of the chat so she was still considered like a stranger to her.
"I didn't always think it was a strange birthmark...but you know when you grow up hearing one thing you tend to just go with it right?" she said "Its...it's a strange birthmark after all..after me ME of all people having a water drop mark?" she said trying to explain herself a bit. "Either god has a good sense of humor...or you're right and it's a tattoo." she said extremely confused. "Please keep this to yourself? I'm surprised i managed to keep it under wraps for as long as I did. Like you said the Japanese aren't too fond of tattoos."

Having been pretty much forced out of analyzing the tattoo with her eyes, Jasmine could only raise her hands up. A brow rose at Melody's reaction, her curiosity piqued ever more. She chuckled with some amusement, finding the pout cute. "Alright. Alright. I'm sorry," she said, smiling and snorting. "Didn't mean to make it seem like you were lying, Mel. My bad."
Lowering her hands, the ashen haired wolf nodded. Despite what Melody was saying, Jaz knew that wasn't a birthmark. She knew, and for once it wasn't her gut telling it to her but rather her tenure as an artist. Curious as the phone was passed along to her, Jasmine's eyes squinted a little. She definitely wasn't lying -- had this thing ever since she was a kid. This, however, meant that a very troubling idea crossed the ever alert wolf's head.
"Aww. You were absolutely adorable as a kid," she jabbed playfully, chuckling as she passed back the bluenette's phone. Jasmine listened, and nodded along. "...yeah, kinda. Though my experience with that is kind of backwards. Didn't really want to go with being a terrorist, y'know?" A nonchalant shrug was supposed to make it obvious she was joking.
The confusion was practically palpable on Melody as the girl considered the possibility that the mark on her back could've been unnatural. Jasmine herself stayed quiet, eyes darting to the floor for the briefest of moments. Considering recent events, she couldn't help but find this incredibly strange, if not outright alarming.
"Do I really look like the gossipy type?" She asked, slightly amused as she tried to keep the air a little lighter. "But, look, Mel. With the shit that's been going on lately... I don't want to scare you, but something doesn't seem right about any of this. I can 100% guarantee you that that is a tattoo. Any artist worth their salt would say the same."
She sighed. On some level, Jasmine hated this part of herself. The part that took every single detail she could get her hands on and try to connect the dots together in the puzzle of something hypothetical that her paranoia told her could actually happen. Yet at the same time this very same part has pulled the wolf and her friends out of a plethora of sticky situations. Hell she'd even stopped a few before they managed to manifest.
At the end of the day, as much as it sucked to worry people, she'd rather they be aware and safe. As much as possible, anyway.
"I'll just flat out say it. With this list? How you've been singled out and given immunity? Now this tattoo that you have no knowledge about?... I don't know, Mel. There might not be any connection between the two at all, but something stinks here. You uh..." she paused. "Please don't take this the wrong way. I really am just worried about you. But uhm... could there be any people that you can imagine having something against you? I mean, really have something against you?"
The next one was a little difficult to say. She pushed on anyway. Might as well nip this in the bud. "...Experience tells me family members tend to be the ones who have the easiest time doing that type of shit."

It made her feel some guilt but she knew jasmine was trying to look out for a fellow classmate. It was actually pretty refreshing that someone was looking after her now, or at least showing concern. Melody always rejected the idea that her life was pretty strange, to her it was normal so she never really questioned it. But with everything going on...she began to ask questions. However with asking questions came feelings she didnt really like, after all that means her mother had to be involved in it. Her mother was a gentle and kind woman, she always treated melody with kindness and warmth. At least that's how she remembered it being..but for some reason her head would start to hurt if she thought about it too harshly.[break][break]
Melody responded to jasmine's question if she looks like the gossiping type to which she quickly dismissed the thought "No..you arent the gossipy type" She whispered as she let jasmine continue her train of thought. She sat there silently and took it all in, she felt like a complete dolt. A person on the outside looking in to the girl who always avoided her past could tell that some shit was definitely fucked. But she took it all in stride and ignored it hoping it'd go away just for it to grow bigger and bigger till it bit her in the ass. Ishtar's list loomed over her head, anxiety and worry not because of Ishtar herself coming for her. But the fact that others would see her getting special treatment from the number 1 villain and look at her strangely. Pro's villains and students alike..she hated this kind of attention, this wasn't what she meant when she wanted people to notice her.[break][break]
The last part of Jasmine's statement though struck a chord inside of melody. Someone in her family..? That's...that's impossible. Melody sat there and thought about it for a few moments. Her mother could never do that sort of thing to melody, she was too overbearing in the sense that she controlled a lot of what melody could do. She wasnt allowed to go out with friends, she had a strict schedule, her mother even supported her hero dream and made a training regime for her to follow with the best of tutors. How could she even consider giving her daughter a tattoo as a child. "Family member huh? I knew my mother too well, I could never imagine her wanting to give me a tattoo like this..she was too religious and or controlling... Im and only child too, the only family I have left alive is.." before it finally hit her, melody's face changed rapidly into one of despair and confusion when she looked into the floor..[break][break]
"My father..." she said "He is most likely the one who did it, but I..I dont even know anything about him, I only have a name." she said looking back up to jasmine, her face was desperate for answers. But what happens now that she was afraid of the answers? The pieces started to come together, melody only knew his name but that's what made logical sense. "My mom used to always refuse to talk about him. "When you're older melody, what good will knowing about him do, focus on your lessons." she said mimicing her mother. the only question she really had left was why though? "If im right though...I have no idea where to even begin to look for answers and if I do.." the girl began to ponder as she placed her knuckle on her lower lip as she began to think hard to herself, it's almost as if she forgot jas was even there.[break]

It was... honestly pretty strange to see Melody like this. Jasmine didn't know the water girl well, she had to admit, but what she's heard from other people would make seeing her this rattled quite strange. The mark on her back being a tattoo clearly struck a chord with her, and on some level Jasmine had even wished she never opened that can of worms. But, in the same vein, the wolf was equally as worried about her.
"Your father, huh..." Jasmine mused, her face betraying a thoughtful expression. "I mean I would've suggested asking your mom anyway. Explain to her you know that whatever's on your back is a tattoo and ask how you got it. Even if she didn't give it to you, she probably knows who would, y'know? No way a mother doesn't know absolutely everything there is to know about her daughter at that young of an age, especially if she's controlling, like you mentioned."
Jasmine's twin emeralds glanced over at snow white, a little perplexed. "...sorry, I keep thinking your family business is really not something I should stick my nose in but, well..." the wolf sighed. "What's your dad's name? If you're up for it, we can start to look from there?"
"Say the word, though, and I back off. I... families really aren't my strong suit."

A simple question was all it took for her to start looking back and rethinking her relationships with her only parental figure. However Jas then started to make a statement the stung, she said to ask her mom about it. Of course it's entirely fair Jas didn't know about her mother. Melody's mother had passed right before she came to U.A, she stayed quiet during jaz's statements, absorbing what the girl was saying. It was high time snow white woke up and faced reality, she didn't have enough answers to keep pretending her family was normal. It seemed as time went on more and more things she once thought was normal became unusual and strange. "It's alright. No turning my back to the truth anymore I suppose right?" she said as she came to terms with her suspicious past. "If I keep ignoring the fire it'll just consume everything so.." she said as she looked to the floor and away from jas, she has a hard time looking others in the eye. Was her mother really the type of person to get involved in the kind of stuff? Did melody really not know her as well as she thought? [Break][break]
Melody was stunned for a moment as Jas spoke as if the woman was still alive. She couldnt be mad at jas, she had no idea that her mother had passed really. no one really knew besides a select few so it wasn't really fair for her to be upset with her for speaking of the late woman. "I wish I could speak to her..she unfortunately isnt with us any longer." she said pulling out a gold necklace in the shape of a gold heart with a flowery design on it. Melody popped it open and showed it to jas "She passed right before I came to U.A." she said in a sad tone, inside the locket Jas would see a picture of melody as a young girl and her mother. The spitting image of Melody with hair that's just as long but that seems much fuller and wilder than the young bluenette. As jas apologized for butting into melody's family business melody put a hand up to her. "Dont worry about it. This is something I've been wanting to talk about for a while to anyone who was willing to listen. My father's name is Itsuki Hajuku, that's all I have, and if im being honest. If you're right id be much more comfortable having someone help me." Melody stood up and put the locket back into her purse as she adjusted her clothes "Where do you think would be a good place to start? I don't wanna make it sound like im assuming things but I get the slightest inkling this isn't your first time in this kind of rodeo of finding people?" she asked curiously, she kind of wanted to get to know jas better and find out more about her family, talk about two birds with one metaphorical boulder.

Jasmine's eyes widened for the briefest of moments as the sudden revelation from Melody stabbed her in the chest with what felt like searing iron. Oh, shit... she swore inwardly, lowering her head a little. Christ, how could she not notice? Now that she looked back on it, the signs were all there. The memories in past tense. The sight of a kind of melancholic happiness that followed the girl's words... hell, she flat out said that the only family member she had left alive was her father. Jasmine would've slapped herself had it not looked absolutely ridiculous and likely made things worse.
"I... yeah..." the girl stuttered a little dejectedly. She really did get a little too into it to miss such obvious signs, huh? "My bad, Mel. I should've guessed. I'm sorry for your loss," she said. What else was there to say, really? Jasmine knew all too well what it felt like to lose a family member. Far too well.
The wolf perked up a little when she was shown the beautiful golden necklace. She took it into her hands with gentle fingers, opening it carefully to see a picture of who she assumed was a younger Melody and her mother. The smile that slowly crept up on her lips was impossible to bite back. It took years until Jasmine had received anything like this from Jaeger. Something which reminded her of her own late parents. She knew the weight this carried and how important this must've been to her.
"She's beautiful, Mel. I'm sure she was a beautiful mother," she said, smiling. "Though I bet you were an absolute brat as a kid," ...and couldn't help but tease with a playful snicker. Hey, gotta lighten the mood somehow, right?
"Itsuki Hajuku..." Jasmine repeated the name. She hummed, "Doesn't ring a bell, sadly."
Melody wasn't wrong: the wolf's had her fair share of looking for and finding people. New York had its way of making people disappear. She couldn't help but find it ironic though that she was already in the middle of one manhunt that's been eluding her for months now without a single lead. She sighed to herself; what a life.
The wolf hummed again, deep in thought. "Well, first place I'd look is the municipality, see if there's any public records of the guy. Then probably hit up the law to see if there are any court records..." she paused, looking up at her, "...criminal cases, things of that nature. As a family member, you'd likely be given access to that information no questions asked, especially if you explain your situation. The system doesn't take kindly to fathers who go MIA on their orphaned daughters, y'know?"
"Then..." Jasmine scratched her cheek as she paused. There was one other option. One that'd likely give results near immediately, but... "Eh, fuck it. This is important. You, uh... you remember this girl that used to go to our school? Elise? Y'know, Tetsuko's girl? Yeah, she works at the PSC and I reckon she'd be able to give us something if we asked real nice?"

Melody waved away jasmine's apologies "Oh it's quite alright. You couldn't have known." she said " I never talk about it in the open like some of the others here. I keep my secrets to myself." she said with a small dismissing tone trying to make Jas feel better. Melody didnt want to make Jas feel guilty at all, she was somewhat numb to it all now. After two years she was finally able to accept her mothers death, but, that didn't meant she still had questions she was desperate to get the answers to. "I think the only person besides you who knows it professor Nimue. We bonded a bit after she explained to me that her father passed. A villain named Oracle hunted him down and murdered him after some torturing." she said as she recalled the conversation the two had on melody's first apprenticeship meeting. She did give nimue some credit, the chat while sad in nature did give melody some motivation. It gave her some more gas to light the fuel as to why she wanted to be a hero, especially one who could heal as well as she did.[break][break]
Melody had smiled a bit though as jasmine was able to expertly smooth over the conversation much to melody's relief. She went on to imagining what melody was like as a child. Well, jasmine was kind of right. "Hah you think so but I was a much different as a child." she said as she gathered up her belongings and getting them all together. "But it's almost like I was an entirely different person as a kid. I was quiet, obedient. I was entirely a mama's girl, did everything she asked even if I didn't want to." she said smiling to herself a bit and giggling "I was like play puddy in her hands. Not that I really minded it all that much." she said smiling a bit as she closed the her locket and placed it back on her neck where it belonged. [break][break]
A small sigh of relief escaped her mouth as she relaxed a bit. "I don't know whether to be glad or sad you haven't heard of him." she said rather confused on whether it was a good or bad thing. "Maybe you're right, im sure there must be SOME record of him on public documentation. If he is a criminal than maybe he's been in prison this whole time and I was just unaware?" She said pondering "But if there is I'd be confused. On paper he has custody of me at the moment, and I get money wired to me every 2 weeks or so. Enough for me to live off of comfortably." she explained to her a bit further "So im not sure. My life's a whole bunch of question marks..." she said before pondering something extremely dangerous. However Jas chimed in with a useful suggestion, she thought about Elise. "Elise senpai?" she said out loud "Yeah.. you're right, I'm already being mentored under her at the moment so that would be an easy in to talk to her." She said as her eyes lit up. Jaz had lit up a path for melody, all she had to do now was just follow it to the end[break][break]
Her eyes looked to the floor for a bit before looking back up and looking at jasmine in the eye and becoming a bit nervous "T-Thanks Jas. I-I appreciate all your help on this." She said before...awkwardly moving in for a hug like a robot. Melody was very touch starved so hugging wasn't the most comfortable thing for her but jas surely earned it from her as emotions welled up inside melody. She quickly let go of the young wolf though "S-sorry. it's just you have no idea how much this means to me." she said as she scratched the back of her head awkwardly, clearly embarrassed by the emotions she just put out on display for Jas to see. Melody looked at her phone though "Oh crap. We're running out of time. I'm gonna be late to class if we dont get going." she said " Ill text you later in U.A chat to see if I find anything else of interest to you." she said as she nodded to the girl and grabbed her bag. She bowed to jas one more time before bolting out of the door. Melody finally did it, she finally had a partner to help her out.
