IT'S SHOWTIME!
This was great, wonderful even! Everything was going great, he had a great partnership with Ketsujo Corp that would make his dreams a reality and Finn was a man of his word! That's right, he was gonna make them hats, but why stop there? Why not make them hats while they dine in a high end restaurant, making the upper class have an unexpected plot twist in their day?! It seemed as though Hain and Kasey were completely fine with such an arrangement, so it was done!
Thankfully, he had the chance to practice a bit more, getting the hang of crafting hats and would be able to make something nice for them, the Deer Hatter was hellbent to live up to his name and this was the time to shine! Plus, he was honestly a little curious to see how their uptight peers would react. All of his encounters of the usual sorts that frequent these fancy tiny food establishments were so stuffy, like they hadn't a single shred of humor or just so absorbed in themselves and money. For crying out loud, this crowd would freak out over their designer attire even though they could easily buy a new one. They were some of the worst people he'd dealt with and it was such a challenge to keep a polite air about them.
It was a good thing he was able to keep himself in check most days from being a little snippy. Plus, it helped that he had an image to maintain, being as good of an example to his fans meant more to him than flicking a snooty brat into a reality check. There were more important things in life to concern himself with, like his partnership with Ketsujo Corp today! The icing on the cake was getting to make some subtle waves, a sweet bonus on the cake of victory! Besides, he had even more respect and appreciation for Kasey and Hain with how they were so cool about his request of hat making shenanigans being in the mix.
Showed him that they were more down to earth than he initially thought, so that was cool in his book! Sitting at the large table, he waited for the K-Corp reps and made sure it was a more quirker friendly establishment just to be on the safe side considering he had an uphill struggle in places that were...ahem....not very quirk friendly! Plus, he wasn't sure if it would just be Kasey and Hain showing up, there could have been more folks being brought as well for all he knew and that would be fine by him! Today, he looked like he was the ring leader of the friggin circus that was about to unfold.

Don't mix business with pleasure. To anyone with large sums of money, it was a given. To shit in your own backyard, so to speak, was always a poor way to go about things. It would lead to the one scandal that would end it all. Sato had his playthings, but rarely, if at all had it been his own staff. Often, it was interests and other companies to help sweeten deals with inside help. Maybe that last bit of choice words was an innuendo. But who was to say? To be completely honest, if it was up to Hain, the contract would have already been lost. The man had all but forgotten the name of the company. The man, and the hats however, had kept his interest longer than a cat had their attention snatched by a laser pointer. However, in this case, perhaps he wasn't so different than a cat. The red dot on the wall as the woman lazily pointed at a book, the man stood, and stared at it. "It stopped moving.""That means you should grab that one.""Okay, but if i grab the book, won't it move?""That's normally how things work, yes."Setsuna stood over the woman, fixing and sorting her shirt and skirt, making sure everything was as presentable as possible. As he finished, he would make his way over to Hain to do the same, the man still as he glared at the small red dot. With a finger, she lifted her touch, and the dot would disappear. Hain's hand would swipe at the book, only to grab it at that point to look behind it. "Master Kasey! It has gone!""We'll look for it later. Bring the book. We have shit to do.""But the dot!"". . . bring the book Hain. We have hats to get." A quick turn as Setsuna ducked to avoid the man's arm holding the book, still trying to sort his tie. The trio would begin to make their way out, Setsuna running to jump at Kasey and his body merging with her body once more, being absorbed back into her bones. . . . The pair arrived with themselves, a private vehicle, the one in charge the one who sat behind the wheel. The actor playing boss sat behind her. A set of eyes watched him, both metaphorically, but also literally as Setsuna kept watch of the man, who really was just a large child. The others would arrive either by their own means, or by the provided transportation. The space was rented out to them for the day to give them a more private affair, while still maintaining a bit for the public to come in and enjoy themselves. After all, having the public watch and observe was the whole point of it all. A dozen investors and other notable people would arrive before them. The establishment filled to the brim with interest of what was really preparing to happen beyond the velvet ropes that were set aside for them, keeping them away from the civilians who were set to observe alone. The dozens of people would arrive, most of them older, elderly men save for a few upcoming younger men. There was only two other females in their early thirties, which still made Kasey the youngest at the table, along with Hain. Compared to those who would arrive, they were infants compared to them, yet their experiences had set them generations beyond their company. Hain would arrive, similar attire as before, the gold pin still at his collar, as Kasey trailed behind, a similar outfit. Their white dress shirts, the red bow tie. Her black shirt with his black slacks. His black socks to her black stockings. Brown dress shoes on his feet, while her own were wrapped in some other material, perhaps leather straps? A variation of a tabi cloth, done well enough one could mistake it for shoes if not examined. Hain would lead them as Kasey took in the view of the place, noting every exit, every table and counter. Her mind prepared for a batter that might never come, but she was never too sure. The man, however, was eager to eat. The girl, only really wanted to bury her nose into her book, with the bonus of a snack freshly prepared. "Oh boy, what do we have prepared today?" he began. ~ Word Count: 729 ~ |

IT'S SHOWTIME!
Standing up from his chair, he got up as though getting ready for a presentation with a showman's grin. This wasn't just a tug at the legs of rich folks fananza, but a live demo to show them who they were investing in! "Welcome~! What we have here today shall be a demonstration of sorts~! We'll dine on delicious food and you two will get to have input on your very own hats, making certain that they are not only comfortable, but sheik~!" Making his way to pull out their chairs before ducking beneath the table, he pulled up a large box, practically posing with the damn thing.
You can bet your bippy that once he sat it upon the table, this guy was showing it off as though introducing everyone to their BRAAAAAAAAAAND NEEEEEW CAAAAAAAAAAR~! The pressure was on and he needed to show one and all that he was their hatter of the radio! Not only for craftsman ship and quality, but that he wasn't going to bore any of his customers if the needed a tailor in a pinch. Oh yes, he was expecting to rake in at least a few of their peers for an order or two at the very least! More importantly, they needed to see how he could work under pressure...so many people would crack and break...but not Finn.
Years were spent on strict time constraints and remaining on task no matter what, keep things on track and moving forward. Whipping out a tape measure from his pocket, he held it up and eagerly looked between the snowy white haired pair! "Who's first~?" Which one would be his volunteer...only time could tell! Until then, he was taking in which design he'd aim for with these two. There would be a window of time and if there was one thing he practically specialized in, it was thinking on his feet!

The board was nothing more than a formality. They were stock holders and hired and paid to do their job. They were investors. Their small percentage dwarfed by Kasey's massive hold on over ninety percent of the company. It was her own, and she would treat it as such. They had no real say in anything, but it was still their money. Who cared though, when all you did was profit? What was tossing away a few thousand at some entertainment? "Ooh! He's starting!"". . . I regret this already."They listened as he addressed just the pair of them as the dozen others would observe and place their orders to dine. They came for the food, leaving with a nice hat would be bonus. Especially as a free sample. Business write offs. They were good for some things. As soon as the box was placed on the table, Hain would begin to clap, only for Kasey to keep her eyes forward and reach out to his hands to silence them. A small look of disappointment towards her, only to smile again at the sight of the damn thing. The question was asked and they would begin. "I think we should order our fo-""OOh! OOH, PICK ME!"She released him, disappointment on her own face as she kindly waved to the waitress to come and take their orders. She was going to need a drink, maybe three or four, maybe seven or seventy. It didn't matter. She really needed to be drunk to put up with shit like this. Meanwhile the grown man was acting like a child waiting for the magician to pick his assistant. Needless to say, the only magic he would be doing, was making their money disappear. And with a little bit of hope and faith, making money flow in much easier into their pockets. The other people would sit, amused, only to observe before asking for their own hats. ~ Word Count: 323 ~ |

IT'S SHOWTIME!
Why this was a far better reaction than he anticipated! The Deer Hatter expected maybe a raise of the hand or a shrug of some kind, maybe a combination of the two to make a meh sandwich reaction. BUT NOPE! What he got was Japan's most excitable C.E.O up to date that he's ever had the pleasure of meeting in his entire life. Possibly ever, with his levels of eagerness reminding him of moments he'd only seen at kid's birthday parties, you know, when the clown offers balloon animals, or a magician needing a little helper! Today, his little helper was a grown adult who was having the chance to live out his childhood dreams in this very moment!
The secretary was over this, all of it, just fifty five shades of done and trying to get herself something to help her cope with the madness unfolding. Today, this mad tea party of a meeting had alcohol written all over it! Tapping his heel with a bemused grin, he wanted to just go a little ham in the moment. A dash of harmless fun, in which he glanced around the room and then finally rest his gaze upon Hain. The man clad in mostly red beamed, before approaching much closer to the white haired C.E.O with piercing blue orbs.
"Oh ho~! Why yes, my jolly good fellow, I believe you will be one of the finest volunteers to partake in my show~" Movements that were more like a dance with the way he made his way around and to K-Corp's brave leader, it was downright surprising with how elegant his every motion was. Simply an air of finesse for something so simple as taking measurements, much like a true showman taking control of the stage! Goodness, he even danced around the darling waitress, making sure he wasn't burdening her from doing the best job she possibly could. When he put away the measuring tape, he brought out cards and laid them out before Hain with a grin.
"Pick a card, any card~" That's right, he was letting the man with the heart and liveliness of a child pick which hat he wanted as a base! There were plenty to pick from and Finn had patterns prepared for each one. That's right, he was several steps ahead of himself and would be modifying the patterns before their very eyes!

In her eyes, he was a clown. A man who had all of the connections she needed to run the business into the direction she wanted. A bumbling fool who talked too much, too fast, and too often. A clown with loud appearances and louder outfits. A man she would grow quickly tired of, and would serve her nightmares for a long time. In his eyes he was the clown. The finest of clowns. The one that hopped into a barrel for your entertainment as you watched and laughed as the bull tried to tip him over. One that made you smile and laugh, and cry when he was gone. A clown who did everything to try and uplift and control the emotions of those around him, in a positive way. Everything about him was distracting, which, in this kind of life, was something desired. And it seemed, even after, he only wanted more of this man. A true masterpiece. The tapping of his heel set joy to one, and chills down the other's spine. Guess who was who? Yeah. You're probably right, reader. Or maybe you aren't. If you think Kasey was anything more than annoyed or bored, you're dead wrong. But if you picked Hain to be the happy one this time, well, then I suppose you're right. Right? Right. "Yuzzzz..." He quietly cheered with a happy fist ready to charge into the sky, but he held his excitement. He didn't want to come off as too eager. "Let me please get whatever meat based dish you recommend, as well as your hardest liquor." She ordered, her eyes watching the dance show before her centered around the other man. A sigh leaving her lips. "Do you guys have like, mac and cheese? Or like, can you get penne alfredo or something for him? Something simple, no seafood, cheese sauce and pasta." A nod from the woman. "And uhh... apple cider will be fine for him, thanks." Another sigh as she set her head onto the table and buried her face in her hands. The men around the table would order other, extravagant meals, all because of the company paying for it. A small fuck you to their boss, but it was just pocket change to her, or him, or whoever was actually in charge. "oooOOOOh!" he would say as the cards were laid out. "Is this for color or style? No, don't tell me I wanna be surprised... c'mon red top hat!" and he reached out and set his hand on one, pulling it from the pile... ~ Word Count: 429 ~ |

IT'S SHOWTIME!The card had the photo of a belled top hat upon it, pretty similar to his own, actually! It had a bit more character in the shape which accented the rim nicely. A pretty solid choice for the bubbly CEO over here since it would even accent his hair style quite well in the process. "Oh ho~! Fantastic, a wonderful choice~!" Taking the card with a delighted grin and mused out loud, "And red it shall be, my dear Hain~" First names seemed to be far more personable...so he'd try that approach and see where it went. Oh but the show went on~! Taking the cards back, he looked over the giddy man's attire once more with a smile. A darker red with some brighter accents here and there to help bring out those vibrant blue eyes, something close to hazel so it wouldn't clash. Even though he worse the smile, played the role of entertainer for their peers, fiddling with the card before a little slide of hand to conceal it within his sleeve. Finn knew that normally with requests of the hardest liquor you have were one of the clear signs of displeasure. It wasn't enough to take him down as he whipped out the tape measure since he needed to figure out the proper height so it wouldn't look incredibly obnoxious. "Ah, do you have any quirks, such as transformation, that may hinder the comfort of wearing a hat, or will it be alright without any modifications to the base design~?" Polite and gentle, calm and collected, he hadn't made this little inquiry before. However, maybe it helped the peanut gallery to see that he was all about a better you without so much as missing a beat. Resting a hand upon Hain's shoulder, he'd await his wonderful assistant's response since...he really hadn't a clue! |

Wipe the hardrive. A saying meant to delete all files from a computer. A method refering to information not wanting to be seen, observed, viewed, or opened by any other party, removing all evidence. Remove the evidence. Delete all files. Wipe the hardrive. In this case, her harddrive, was her own mind, and wiping it wasn't a click and delete, it was whatever liquor that waitress would bring. Kasey hoped, there would be nothing left of them memory. All of it lost. She wasn't so lucky. She would have to resort to a hard rest. Her head lifted, before crashing into the table, a thud as she tried to ease herself away from the situation she was in. The executives thought nothing of her, why would they? She was an assistant, not their boss, she was replaceable. Any honor she had, was for the fact she had worked for Sato personally, and had lived with him, and still did. Though the fact of him still being alive, wasn't known. That didn't matter. There was a new boss, who held the stocks. He too, worked for the former man, but he was the one that called the shots now. Even if the Chairman position was a voted one, Hain was the one with the power. Or at least, that's what they thought. "Bless'ed be, maker take me please..." a silent prayer echoing from within her mind, not a word from the only being that could hear her. "Oooh~! fancy~!" He was far too exited by something even he knew he would keep in his home and never actually wear in public, but even so. Pajamas were always something worth being joyful about. He watched the small tricks with the cards as they seemingly vanished, if by magic or a short attention span it was hard to say. "My quirk?" He paused for a moment, his mind drifting away to the darkness, the void that once consumed him. His smile faded as he could feel the cold air and silence engulf him. The deafening silence. The feeling of being alone, but always watched. The stench of blood, and the screams of- "No. Master Hain's quirk will not, and is not something that would hinder, nor have any effect on the hat." She would answer, loudly, as her face buried in her arms. "Though he likes to jump around with things on his head, like doorframes, so perhaps a small one, with a clip for his hair would be better. Though, you're the expert." No emotion, no grace. Words poured from her. Monotone as she gave an answer as if reciting it, though to a particular question that wouldn't be asked all that often. The board believed Sato to be a quirkless man, but understood his fascination to hire though with abilities. Though, the strange trade off that all of them appear to be mostly normal, and don't use their quirks at all. Most waved the idea as a strange fascination, or having a personal circus to hinder people's powers. A business to make a better you, yet his own secret remain uncovered by the others, and he prevented any use of quirks in the offices. But they all seemed for the evolution... so what of it? Hain's stare blank, only to snap back at the woman's speech. "Yeah. What... what Kasey said." he would say. A nervous shiver down his spine as a shy smile went upon his lips. He was getting something he wanted. But all he could think about was how long they were suffering before it all ended. But did it ever end? Could his suffering ever end? ~ Word Count: 609 ~ |

IT'S SHOWTIME!
Something didn't seem quite right...the man wasn't by any means a psychologist...but why did the mention of a quirk shove everything downhill for Hain? "No no, my dear Kasey...though I'm being dubbed as the expert here, I'm more than happy to listen to constructive criticism, such as your own~!" There were so many smaller hats he could make...maybe he should just keep it simple and go for a fedora with clips? The hat he made for Honey had a similar niche to fill, but it was certainly a larger style with summer in mind. It wasn't something to dig nor pry into, he figured...yet part of him felt a bit bad for the CEO.
From bubbling and bursting with life to a meek happiness?
...well...this was neither here nor there, maybe he could do right by the pair somehow. "Never much of a problem when a change of plans took place, after all~! Another plot twist in the every growing tale of life, as I like to say~" Maybe the final product would make him smile again? Or the food getting here, who knew...but he was here to put on a show and it had to go one! Laying out supplies for this live demonstration, he started up on the madness of sewing in a goddamn restaurant, because he was the whole freaking circus of chaos under this gorgeous roof!
"You two have me colored with curiosity, what is it that normally takes up your free time~? The life of running such a large company seems like it would be full of interesting things~!" Time to learn more about the leader and his intellectual assistant who seemed to wish all of this was done and over with already. Oh well, hopefully the right amount of alcohol would brighten her mood~!

Torture. It was what it was, simply put, it was torture. All of it was done in the name of research from willing volunteers. People who signed away their will at the promise of something to improve their lives. In the case of the pair, it was food, shelter, and healthcare. The details in the contract vague, and left out intentionally. They were both starving, and the promise of a warm meal was beyond captivating. No longer the need to feed upon the remains of someone else's last meal, eating, in case it could be their last meal. Survival, replaced with a life worth living. That was how it was presented to them. Years of screaming in pain, soon coming to an end, by a girl who was more than willing to endure the experiments. The girl who... "No critique, just observations if any." she would answer, lifting her head to lean on a hand as she would look over to the white haired man. The rest of the guests seemed either entertained by the display, or off trying to make a deal with other members outside of their office. They were all fools, thinking that even all of the voting could do anything to change their plans. They were just for show. "Like a mini top hat." A smile on his face, as his mind drifted away from the endless void. "Those are super cute too!" He would say, clapping in joy, awaiting his gift. He couldn't wait, but he had too. It wasn't like the man had a hat quirk. He had a speaker quirk. Radio quirk? Sound quirk. A weird quirk. One, that caused the idea of trying to understand it to furrow his brows in process. How did it work? Was it like the puppet masters? Throwing your voice? How weird. Why did he work with hats if he couldn't... wait, could he make hats talk? "Besides the ever growing research and development in quirk studies to help advance society as a whole to ensure the citizens of the world can live a better life with their abilities..."Kasey nodded, waving a hand to continue. A smile on her face, all just words remembered, recited, even if he barely understood what the string of them meant. "I have a pet lizard. His name is Dog." he would say with a happy glee. A hand, pressed against the woman's face in her own disappointment as she buried her face, though, returned to her pose soon after. ". . . you only named him Dog because -""Because that's your spider's name!""That's... okay. Nevermind. No yeah, that seems like a much more realistic answer from you."Kasey totally wasn't thinking about how Hain had walked in on Kasey during one of her feasts. The leftover remains of an animal left behind. One reduced to a meal as it was abandoned. The sight that caused him to recoil. A pet, purchased to give him peace and silence. Dog. A lizard. A spider. And a reminder of the animal she was. ~ Word Count: 508 ~ |

IT'S SHOWTIME!
Ah, that was nice! Though Kasey seemed to be on a level of done that he could mostly relate to when it came to the really boring business meetings, she was being a good sport! Plus, he really didn't know much about Hain, so honestly? The white haired woman's view and opinion was invaluable, at least to him anyway! When Hain seemed to perk right back up, he couldn't help but feel a bit of warmth in his heart over it. This CEO was less of a stuffy pain in the ass and more like a puppy in a tux that somehow got elected as mayor or something. "Oh ho~! They truly are cute~!"
Boy howdy he was in a great mood right now!
Trimming away at the fabric with the new design in mind, he'd practiced making top hats enough to wing it with a smaller one that really didn't require all the measurements. Eyeing it out was fine enough in this instance! Listening intently as he fussed about with the fabric with care, it sounded like he was going to get an earful of something boring with the intro of the statement. You know what though? This was Hain, someone who seemed to be at least a little more interesting than most businessmen with pockets full to the brim with yen!
Okay even with that in mind, he was still thrown for a loop with what came next and let out a little snicker giggle as he took a moment of pause with his pattern cutting. Swiveling his ear toward the eccentric CEO of Ketsujo Corp., he couldn't help but find all of this so endearing in its own way. The two were less like strictly professional and more like family in that moment. It was sweet, hopefully he'd manage to successfully have a family of his own one day...eh but with how his quirk made him look? Yeah, that might not be so easy unless he managed to pick up momentum in the community to adopt a kid...ah well, he'd attempt to cross that bridge in due time!
In a way, he felt a bit bad for being amused by how the girl just straight up facepalmed over the lizard's name which was shared with that of a spider. Truly a curious pair! "How curious~. A spider and lizard sharing the same name~? Why that's a first~! Though I must say, for you two to be this close...it really does represent how the Ketsujo Corporation is more like a family and less like the typical corporation..." Adjusting some of the pieces here and there with a gentle smile, he spoke in a tone that was almost soothing rather than booming with his usual brand of energy, "It wouldn't hurt to see more large organizations and what have you follow that lead~! Managing to be successful and still having a strong bond from within? That's a rarity~"

In another world, there was a child creature making a deal with a devil for power. In another world they were the paradigm shift. Here? Here, the devil watched their newest beneficiary craft a hat for their ally. It was how the world worked. It didn't matter if their was magic, super powers or if people were completely normal. Deals were made with horrible people. Sometimes it was for the better of the world, other times, not so much. That being said, the reason why Hain was chosen was plain and simple from those that knew. From an outsiders perspective, he came from nearly nothing, and now had it all. He was a bubbly man child who wore a suit out of necessity, not choice. Granted, in the few instances where he had to make hard choices on his own, he did what was best. It may not have been the right thing to do, but it was for the best. Money was lost from time to time, but their image had never been greater. Besides, he was much better to take pictures with than Sato. Besides, he was getting a hat today. She mustn't ruin that at least. "Well, it was a family business." Kasey admitted to the truth, perhaps a fault. It was hard to divide the lies from what was real. It was easier just to hide bits of the truth, than to cloak in deceit. "We've both worked closely with Sato for years. Now is no different." The estate, the place they called home. He was there with the both of them. They were almost literally family. The secrets were the same bonds that stuck them together like blood. "Yeah, he still doesn't like when I call him dad.""You didn't say dad, you said-""ANYWAYS, hat~!"~ Word Count: 000 ~ |

IT'S SHOWTIME!
Everything in life has a price, even an offer such as the one he carried along into this moment all so the show he was displaying for the pair and their delightful investors could unfold. With such care in every stitch, he was crafting this lovely little hat, one of which would be able to handle antics galore! Though he'd be telling himself a colorful lie if he didn't admit to believing the words of Kasey over here, mentioning how it was, in fact, a family business. Curious how his hunch was confirmed...though part of him drifted about in a sense of wonderment on what could have possibly changed that? After all...it seemed to him that it remained as such with the core values in place.
"Why, I'm no expert...but as an outsider looking in, it does show that it truly is no different~" The smile playing across his lips was calm and suited the collected tone which rolled off his tongue as he carried on with angling the little hat and making sure all the stitches that could be done with the machine were in place. "Hn...wouldn't it be something if the Ketsujo Corporation continued to surpass my expectations~?" Though that wasn't exactly a challenge, those words were thoughtful and laced with an air of sincerity. Truly, he was at their corner and rooting for their success in flourishing and growing more~ "...now..what about you, Miss Kasey, would you like me to craft a hat for you as well or will this be all~?"
Finishing those words with a playful hum about his tone, he knew they'd have places to be...buuuuut it was worth considering whether or not they'd like anything for the future in the event time was running out~!

Ketsujo was more than a brand. It was lifestyle. To the ones that had the blood, to the countless nameless servants that followed their leader from the shadows. All of the dark and twisted fantasies getting more and more warped with every generation, to find that the next heir was reduced to ash was one that held mixed feelings. A woman who was once a symbol of hope, turned into nothing by a faded memory. Gone as soon as the soot would rest upon you from falling from the sky. A sorrowful ash filled snowfall. It was a question if it would continue to be a birthright, or if it was going to be passed down. They were always a family. If not by the blood they were born, then by the blood they spilled. "Hat! Hat! Hat! Ooh!"She smiled at the mention of his half cooked challenge. There was always something to unveil, not all of their secrets were going to be shared over some bread and a hat. It would come in time. Soon, he would serve his purpose to the illusion, and with it, he would understand the full grasp Ketsujo really had on Japan. "No thanks. With a quirk like mine I would either end up destroying it, or losing it." She lifted a hand to thank the offer, but ultimately deny it. He was an interesting man, but with the poking around the profession, she had her own question. "What about you? You may have taken over, but is it going to be a family business? Or is it to your liking alone?" Children. A lover. Questions piqued her curiosity. She was going to find out, but not directly. If not by those words, then by the next, or the next. If not, well, it wasn't like it wasn't just one database search away. ~ Word Count: 311 ~ |
