CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 442 WORDS ■ "She's dead. He's dead. I'm dead." ■
Dead men tell no tales. It was true. The dead were incapable of speech. However, they were able to tell tales, just not say them. If only people understood what the dead were able to say. ". . . he would say he has a drinking problem." Caitlyn spoke aloud, the corpse laying on the table, another organ in her hand as she weighed it, looking over the colors. A man, or at least what was left of him. A sort of cat-like quirk, fur patterns to match a leopard, or a cheetah. It was hard to say, when neither DNA strand could be found within him. It was all just a fur pattern. Being completely black didn't make him a panther. Being tan didn't make him more of a lion. They were all just names to set it apart from the dozens and dozens of others that lay in their storage all along the walls of the large, and empty office. Well, if you could all it an office.
Caitlyn Manji, or Dr. Manji as it were was a medical examiner. By extension of her license, she was also qualified to be a coroner, and often was the first to arrive on the scene. While she may have been qualified in a sense, none actually addressed her as doctor. Upon request, her true name wasn't even on her ID badge, but rather "Doctor Itsy Bitsy" or as others called her, Army of One.
The woman went back to the body, a large mummy like creature standing there, holding the tools she needed. Nothing more than a series of spiders upon spiders wrapped in silk for protection. She would take the next tool, and continue her job. It was later in the afternoon, and with it, her duty to play the receptionist for the Study Program. It was nothing more than volunteer testing for K-Corp to develop and research even more about quirks at the will of people who either wanted free healthcare, or just wanted to help. Most of it was body monitoring, while others exerted skills or tried experimental medicine to see what may or may not have an effect on certain quirks. After all, trying an antidote to help regrow hair or fur for someone without problems would be great to know for someone when the issue did arise.
"Okay okay, so cause of death... definitely was not drinking."
"No, it's definitely a quirk." the girl spoke, a figment of her imagination. She lay on another slab, watching the woman, but Caitlyn paid her no mind. Not right now at least. She was just in her head. It was all just her imagination...

After his conversation with Kasey Archibald had decided to do the test to figure out more about his quirk. Having decided to do so mainly to learn more about his quirk. A common factor people forgot about people with ice related quirks, was death. The cold was as deadly as the heat, people with cold skin were often thought to be sick and people avoided you like the plague. It wasn't nice, and having a constant cold zone around you doesn't help either. He could dress as much as he wanted, but the cold would end up slipping out all the same. He wore fancy clothes with layers for that specific reason. As he entered the building he was lost. A boy who only knew the basics of the language, stood there and looked around. Hoping to find a sign as to what to do. He walked to the reception and asked in his best polite Japanese: "I'm sorry... eh I was told to meet with a... coroner? nurse... eh someone who could test my body?"As he spoke he realized he picked the wrong words. Surely they would know what he meant. As the nervousness of entering this new place that was much fancier then his school crept up on the young boy. He looked at the woman, knowing he'd likely not made it clear why he was in a hospital. As he extended his hands he hovered it in front of the woman so she would feel the cool air coming from him. "Eh... about this? A test for quirks? You know for hero's?" As he spoke he realized he was likely was being rude. And quickly retracted his hand. He stood there feeling rather stupid as he hoped the woman would be able to decipher the nervous boy's question.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 412 WORDS ■ "Testing 1 - 2 - 3." ■ "Oh hey, he looks about my age." A ghost. One could call her that. A memory that lingered long after death and haunted the woman for her failures. A girl she had lost, and blamed only herself for not saving. Someone she saw as her own daughter. Someone once a proud student, top of her class, only to drop out, and then drop dead.Caitlyn could hear the voices from upstairs and walked up the steps to get back to the main lobby. "Akahana, who is it?" she would call out, the young girl behind the desk sitting, bored, on her phone, really only there to collect a check. "Wow, I didn't think like, anyone actually did this shit." The girl, normal, typical, no visible mutations. Her hair tied up in a ponytail as she removed her feet from the desk to get a better look at the new visitor. She shuffled a few papers before putting a form on the counter. "Fill that shit and see the Doc downstairs." She would say, before leaning back in her seat, the pink scrubs loose, a big too big for the girl as she kicked up her feat again. Caitlyn would appear from the steps to the lower level. "God, Gae sae if you're smoking inside of the office again I swear eyong Manji I will kick your as-" She would stomp up the stairs before spotting the boy, four of her hands covered in bloodied gloves. At the sight of him, would hide then behind her back before extending her clean hands towards him. "Sorry, Uhm, hi!" she would greet him, "Did ya need something?""Kid wants to be a lab rat." The girl would say before Caitlyn would speak without looking at the girl. "Akahana, go downstairs and clean up then put the body in the locker."She would jump out of her seat, a happy fist pulled down as if she tugged a chain, "Score! I fianlly get to do cool shit again." and she would run down the steps. "AND NO PHOTOS." A hand reaching out to pull the phone from her pockets. The ghost, the figment of her imagination, Leviathan would creep up the stairs, leaning on the railing as she observed. "Dude, I wasn't that weird, was I?""I heard something about being a hero?" she would ask, unsure of what the real reason he had appeared there. Seeing the form, she wondered if it was for the testing, or another matter.

With a surprised look he realized the woman behind the counter was all but ordinary or even enthusiastic with his presence. As he recieved the papers he looked them over. All in Japanese, and therefore hard to read. It wasn't until he realized that he might as well sign it, based on his conversation with Kasey from before it was the thing she talked about. Just as he was about to start writing a woman walked up the stairs. Her appearance showed clear signs of her quirk. It wasn't one that would make her popular, but it was one that was special that is for sure. He also knew that with an appearance like her's, it would surely have been something that had netted her less then positive responses before. He looked at her as he stuttered, nervously. "I-eh I'm sorry. I talked with Kasey... she told me to... eh.... come and have my quirk tested? "As he spoke he raised his hand with the papers in it, and quickly filled them in. When he finished he looked at her. The woman just sent the bored looking girl behind the counter to go clean something up. As she heard about the thing she was about to do, the woman looked exciting and even motivated... he rather didn't know really. As he heard the woman's question he looked at her."Eh yea, I'm a hero course student. I want to help people... but I'd also like to help make sure other understand us quirkers better... so I was told to have my quirk tested?"He stared at the woman, not sure what to do until he remembered he was incredibly impolite in all likelihood."I am sorry... I am Archibald Reighn, pleasure to meet you."As he spoke he made a small bow and wondered what the woman would say. Her 5 eyes intriguing to him, but the hands behind her back almost as much... was it blood he noticed before?

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 460 WORDS ■ "Voices in my head" ■
Voices in her head. She wasn't real. Voices in her head. She wasn't real. Voices in her head. She wasn't real. Voices in her head. She wasn't real. Voices in her head. She wasn't real. She wasn't real. But she used to be.
A haunting of a failure to save someone close to her. And as messed up as it was, a piece of her was glad it was Leviathan that had become the lesson, and not from her kid, Cassy. It was a twisted and fucked up thing to think about. "Someone died, but at least it wasn't someone else who I also love." She didn't love Levi less. She didn't love her own blood more. But why did she feel this way? Was this feeling of guilt the reason this vision of the girl haunted her at every moment of the day? It was a fitting punishment. The spirit of the dead, refusing to pass on until she, a descendant of the clan, had moved on from her failure. Even after being buried ten feet under, it seemed as if Levi still had a few things to say. That video, was just the start of it.
"Oh wow, lucky you, a recommendation. Kasey of KC" The second half of her words in plain English, something she had gotten used to doing, when not swearing at a girl in Korean. Maybe a few words she would end up learning, or just know that hearing them, wasn't a good sign.
She smiled, looking the boy once over. "Tested meaning the limits, or what it is?" she asked, taking her steps toward the boy. He seemed nervous, or on edge. There was something he wasn't saying, either he wasn't allowed to, didn't know, or just couldn't bring himself too. He reminded her of someone.
"Like me?"
"No not you." she spoke aloud, noticing her mistake and tried to brush it off as thinking out loud. That was all it was, right? The vision of the girl keeping her pace quick behind, but no sound, for there was nothing there.
As the boy bowed, so did she. "Army of One. Professional Hero when outside of this place, but in here..." She pointed at the identification Card around her neck, one similar to the one he had been shown before. "Doctor Itsy is fine. Or just Doc." A bit of nervous laughter followed, a strange thing to say. To have a professional title followed by a made up name. It felt more like a joke than her actual hero name of "Army of One." Such was life.
"So, you're going to Yuuei or another school?" she was curious.
"He's old enough to be my classmate... Well, at least when I was still..."

With an raised eyebrow he looked at the woman. English was a luxury that he didn't see around often in Japan. He looked at the woman and after a few seconds he realized it likely came with a message deeper then just the words. With a small nod he looked at the woman as he replied with a somewhat hesitant answer."The... eh both really. Kasey said I could have my quirk tested to help... I want to help the people who are judged by their quirk... and make sure I can become a hero to save everyone. So both are ok with me... If it helps others." As he spoke he ran his hand through his hair. He wasn't sure why. He felt oddly aware of his quirk as the frozen tips of his hair crackled and reformed. He heard her suddenly talk without a reason to. And as he looked at her, he wondered what the reason was behind it. He took a step closer, but wasn't sure what to say until she spoke again. He felt his mind racing a bit as his cold hands, misty breath and cold aura became oddly aware of it. The girl's quirk was oddly easily to make his own quirk seem rather mundane. As she explained her name he realized he did not know her. Her hero identity neither. It took a second before he looked her straight into the eyes. "If you are a hero... I'm honored to meet you. Please accept my thanks for your service and showing people that other people with quirks are not to be feared."As he spoke he made a bow and when he raised his head he looked at her. With a kind smile he told her: "Doctor Itsy it is, I am from UA indeed. I joined there earlier from The Netherlands. I am sorry if my Japanese is not clear."

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 420 WORDS ■ "Ayyy blaze it." ■
English made her work easy at times, and seemed to be the other most common language used in her profession beside Japanese. Her tongue held onto the Korean from her birth, and refused to let it go. It might have not been the ideal choices, but to know two languages already put her ahead of the average person.
"Oh, that's not a test. That's more of a demonstration for research." A test implied that people failed and passed. There was no grades to be given. Some people had better control of different aspects for different reasons. Someone who created fire might do it based on their emotions and have roaring flames, while other might strengthen himself with potent juices, like booze to make his flames burn easier. The same power, used differently.
He seemed to speak a lot more than was asked of him. If he wanted to help and be a hero, she supposed this was the easiest first step to make, besides actually going out to do good. At least he could give back immediately to the public. His subjection to a few experiments. Knowledge gained to be shared with others who might be unable to contain themselves.
It was nice, for a little while. To be a nobody to someone she had just met. It meant there was a chance for a first impression to share something meaningful. Caitlyn, even in the public, was never one for fame. Even the media, had stayed away from her for some time. Him confirming his status, and saying her title was funny, and she giggled as much.
"So, what can you do?" she asked. "I'd take you to the office, or one of the rooms, but there might be other places better suited." She walked behind the counter. The hands behind her back pulling the gloves off and turning them inside out. Another set reached for a bin to dispose of her gloves, while another shuffled papers and a clipboard for her to record. "You can leave the forms here, you can fill it out after actually." She looked at the ones he had, and if willing, would take the papers from him. As she went along, she would write down information as it was provided.
"I doubt you have a mutation like me, but you never know." She shrugged as she looked at the boy again head to toe, trying to make a guess before he could say anything. Maybe he could fly, or maybe had powers of gravity. That would be cool.

His eyes took the woman in for a second. Her multiple arms were impressive and the coordination was undeniable. He was almost jealous of how easy it seemed to control for her. However as she what his quirk was, he remained silent for a second. It suddenly felt like his quirk, for a second, could be seen as either good or bad. To be evaluated or demonstrated, it could impress or not. It could strike fear or hope into those who see it. He shook his head to empty his mind and he looked her in the eyes."My quirk... its the power to completely control water and ice around me... I can make a liquid that is able to be molded into ice and water with my will, and if mixed with water, it will make the whole water as such... Thats how its been explained to me at least." He felt his hair freeze over further, a thin white sheen appearing on it as he felt his power almost preparing for when its use was coming up. He walked with her and felt a bit of a chill fall over him. not one of the cold (he never had those) but of a tad of fear. What if he lost control and hurt someone. Doctor Itsy was a professional hero, so surely she would be fine. As walked with her he would make sure to look out for elevators. Having handed her the list he would add:"Is my cold going to affect you? If I may be so rude to ask... people and animals don't often react well to the cold so... perhaps we should be careful of that?" He meant it well but as he spoke he realized he was being almost patronizing. Surely the woman knew perfectly well what she could and couldn't handle... why was he being so stupid? Was it the nerves, or the fact that he wasn't the best with spiders to begin with? As he walked he squeezed his hand together and as he relaxed it a thin shape of his fingers in snowy ice remained. Seeping back into his skin nearly as fast as it appeared he wondered where the woman would take him.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 307 WORDS ■ "I should bring an assistant." ■ Mutations were always a strange thing to consider. Some manifested late, and were provide strange changes to ones anatomy. That would be apparent when it seemed like additions were given to the body, even years later. But few were born with them, and those people never understood life without them. Six arms may have been overwhelming for most people, but it was none different than controlling one's fingers to her. It was just how she was. It was just that easy.
"Ah, thank goodness, a simple one." she would say with a sigh of relief. "Water and ice seems simple enough. Freezing and cooling. I'm sure I can pull information from Ice Quirks and the Liquid Quirks we have on file for you, when that time comes." With simplicity, came remedy. Any illness, side effect or byproduct of his quirk could be easily manipulated by science, at least in this case.
"I mean, there's a chance I get effected by any quirk we examine, that's part of the territory. Though, please try not to use your quirk on me directly. But things are bound to go free." There was nothing stopping accidents from happening, that was part of understanding someone's boundaries. He needed to know his limits, and this was a safe place to find out, at least next to Yuuei itself. As they would find themselves in the large empty room, he would be free to do as he needed, Caitlyn with her papers in hand. She was prepared to record his data, as well as any new findings.
Here, she would have to put her observations to the maximum. Emitters were rather simple. They were just an added change over the human body. They weren't some strange new organ, or a unique change in physiology like fur or horns.
Surely this was going to be an easy day, right?

As she spoke, the young man raised an eyebrow. His quirk wasn't often perceived as 'easy' by the doctors he met. Often they were no specialist either, but their general consensus would be that his quirk was straightforward but hard to measure. He simply nodded and joined her in the room. Where he was told to not use his quirk on the woman, as he had referenced earlier. "Oh I wouldn't dream of it. But I assume you need me to use all my power at once? or just show off what kind of things I can do? " As he spoke he 'flexed' his hands, his quirk easier to control with his hands moving in tandem, his breath became cooler. His body grew paler and the air around him turned cold to a harsh winters night. He opened his hand in front of him and slowly he layered water upon ice, and the water got molded by the ice. In less then a minute a full cloak of interlocking pieces of ice were covering his body and a chestplate formed. As he speak his arms he showed the creation."I can make these things... but I don't have to keep them solid as long as they remain ice. They will stay this way until I want them to change. So my quirk really makes it possible to do bigger things if they are just broken down. I couldn't make this all at once at my current level of skill... but... " As he spoke he looked up, a thin hair like tandrils appeared and as they spread it started to snow, the snow only being around the boy and all of the flakes nothing but a quick creation held together by thin hairlike connections only to be let go and dropped. They created a haze that costed a lot of mental strain but was fairly advanced in terms of what he could do. "This is what I can do the most individual parts of right now..."He looked at the woman. His face showed her that he was in mental discomfort. He used his quirk to hopefully help get insight, but a part of him wanted her to find something that could be useful to more then just him. The individual flakes he created fleeting and numerous, he could not help but feel like he needed to do this.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 202 WORDS ■ "Someone get the mop." ■
Going all out at once? It was less a measure of power, but more one of control. You couldn't measure how durable dirt was during a mudslide. It was much easier when it was still and remained packed into itself. If he was going all out, if he didn't know his limits, it surely would have left some damage, on something or someone. The other question was how, and how this physiology worked. She would watch him conjure the plate of ice over his body. Natural curiosity caused her to reach out, but she held her hand back. She wondered if it was comparable to dry ice. How cold was it? Was it stable? How easily did it melt?
"Very interesting." she would use in observation. Soon after was his display of snow. With her focused attention she would notice the familiar extensions that would be dropped. She had seen it done before. It only meant he could only create and manipulate what he touched. Limited range, but a small work around. She nodded to the sighting of it. Her eyes following a few as they hit the ground.
"I see, does it take a lot of focus?" she asked, wondering what his real limits were.
