1071 WC ah to be a teen goat | Chimera had questioned a lot of things over the last few weeks. As his work as an apprentice and proper hero training kicked up, at the same time a dark conspiracy around on of UA's top sponsors took root. At its heart was his "too smart to be this stupid" best friend--and constant aching pain in his chest--who had been doing too much digging for his own good. Yojin wasn't just adding tacks to the cork board of Red and Yuuto's theories, he was sticking daggers into the damn thing; diving head first into channels where villains roosted and poking at the danger like he wasn't going to get himself assassinated for it.
Which was fine. Honestly, Yojin had been at this for longer than most of UA's students had even been here! If he had managed to avoid being killed by an angry villain so far then he should have been fine, right? Chimera was partially to thank for that, because he could stand in the back of the shop and loom at people if they started getting feisty. But for the most part that had just been Yojin's remarkable ability to dip out of trouble before things went too far.
This time was not one of those times. This time, whether or not he was willing to admit it, he was in over his head. Even if the theory that the villain Ishtar and the ASTA Corp. CEO, Sonya Chernova, wasn't true, he'd gotten himself put on a hit list that claimed to be from the villain themselves. That said nothing about if their theory WAS true. Yojin clung to it in his ever rampant distrust and dislike of all those in positions of power but he failed to admit that trying to take on somebody with those resources would get him flattened. Ishtar as a villain was the number one most wanted face in Japan, and had managed a huge prison break just a month ago. If they asked for it, there was no telling how many grateful villains might leap at those they deemed "trouble".
Ishtar, if they really were linked to Sonya and ASTA Corp, was all that plus the money and influence and power of one of Japan's leading technological industries, and a sponsor of their very school who could have way more reach than a bunch of student heroes would be able to handle.
So they were in over their head. Yojin was in over his head. Chimera knew he couldn't exactly get him to drop everything he'd done and hide at UA until this had died down, because if he could then he would have convinced him to do it the April before last. Back when he'd first found out about this, and agreed to help to keep Yojin safe. Yojin didn't understand why Chimera was so worried this time, and to be fair he worried a lot about a lot of things. But this time...
This time he could admit to himself that he was more than worried about Yojin for just friendly reasons. He was worried that the boy he loved would be hurt.
Like Red and Yumi worried for each other, like Jack worried for Meara.
It shouldn't have been him in this position. If anyone was going to worry about Yojin like this, it should have been his actual girlfriend. It should be Angelica. But Angelica didn't know Yojin was on the list because she didn't know they were involved in any of this. Of all the things she knew about Yojin that Chimera never would, the truth about his alter-ego wasn't one of them. So the pain and fear and worry and heart-break was for Chimera and Chimera alone.
That made him feel guilty. And it made him feel sick.
But more than anything it made him want to do something about it. He'd been so very, very supportive about his best friend and his sister dating. Sure, he liked Yojin in the same way Angelica did, but he was straight (probably) and he would never be able to pull Angelica away from him or say anything to either of them--and he knew, in some awful, loyal part of his heart, that she would give up on Yojin if Chimera said anything to her, because she was that kind of person. He couldn't do that to her. He couldn't do that to himself.
But Angelica wasn't the one who really knew the truth. He was stuck feeling all the bad parts of the love with none of the good. He got all the fear and pain and Angelica got all the sweetness and care. And he was still going to be the one next to Yojin through all of this, because he couldn't leave him alone.
So here stood Chimera, in his hero suit, waiting inside the side-gate of UA's school grounds. This side lead out to the staff parking lot and was the most direct route to the suburbs, so it was easiest for him to get to from home, and he did need to stay at least within sprinting distance of his patrol route. Why was he waiting on the grounds if he was supposed to be patrolling?...well, he had decided he needed advice from somebody who was entirely unbiased to either him or Yojin. And somebody he knew would understand his feelings. Saito was fine but he was too soft on Chimera, and he knew that. He actually listened when Chimera told him that he couldn't take Yojin from Angelica, or even try to, because it wasn't the right thing to do. It wasn't the good choice.
And from what he had seen and from how they had interacted before, Chimera knew Luka wasn't the sort that would treat him like some fragile, frightened rabbit. He might be a bit strange sometimes but he was blunt and forward. If anyone was going to give him advice on a guy--and about what he should or shouldn't do--without using training wheels on him, it'd be Luka. So there he stood, claws playing with the shiny gold "tape" wrapped around his paws, and a whole flock of butterflies trying to find a way out of his stomach. Whee.
Hopefully, he'd actually get some answers to his questions from this.
And not some weird "Lukaism" like the chatroom often got.

Lukas von Eisenberg was many things, positive and negative. He felt he had a fairly solid grasp on both his qualities and his flaws, and so he was becoming less and less prone to the sorts of self-doubt that had been plaguing him for the last few years. For so long he'd held on to his worries and tried to hide the weaknesses he knew he had even from himself, but as his journey through U.A. started coming closer to ending the small teen had become more outgoing in revealing who and what he was. Setting shame over his weaknesses aside made it much easier to not care about the thoughts of others. After all, acknowledging something meant that few people really had power over your emotional state.
Perhaps it was this burgeoning lack-of-fucks-to-give that had lead him to this particular situation. The query over the chat had been... odd to say the least, but Luka had taken it in stride as best as he could. It had been a little blunt, and part of him had reacted poorly to the way that it had been phrased, but he had taken a few moments and allowed his initial fiery response die as he considered things a bit more clearly. He may have been working towards better self awareness, but he was equally aware that he had hardly perfected it, which meant moments like that. Ultimately, he decided that it was simply an incredibly awkward request for help, and what sort of hero would he be if he didn't offer help when asked? A poor one, that's what.
Chim had also come a long way since their first year, back when he'd struggled with his unsual appearance far more than nowadays. Luka remembered thinking that the fluffy goat-boy had badly needed a hug back when they first interacted, and Luka himself had only recently lost his father, and his mother had been comatose. If even he could have seen the issues back then, they had to have been far more impactful than he'd realised at the time. Still, nowadays the slime boy felt that while his peer had settled into himself, he was still really dumb about some things. Really, really dumb, like oh my god get a clue already. It seemed that he might finally be on that track though, and so it was up to the slime boy to help him down the path that had been pretty obvious to observers for a while. Or maybe it'd just been obvious to Luka? He hadn't exactly talked to others about this out of respect for the other students.
But he'd been asked for help now, so hey, perhaps he could.
Heading towards the side gate with a casual and unhurried grace, Luka turned the corner to spot Chimera standing there fidgeting. The smaller teen stared for a few seconds, taking in the hero outfit that the other was wearing, and promptly burst out laughing. It sort of hissed between his lips for just a moment before spilling out into full, stomach grabbing laughter. "Oh my gods..." he wheezed out in between bouts of laughter. Chim looked like he was going to a very specific kind of club or parade, and it startled Luka into laughter. He hadn't seen this outfit before, and considering the topic of their discussion he just couldn't help himself. "Gimme...just gimme a moment..." he foced out, the laughter drying up on its own after a few more moments.
"Ok, I'm good, hah! Sorry," Luka said as he straightened up and headed over to Chim, coming to a stop near the other male and quirking an eyebrow at him. "So, you wanted to talk? Some advice? I promise I'll do my best to help, I'll even try really hard to be serious," the last part was tacked on as he realised just how nervous the large teen was, telling him that whatever was going on in that horned head was not sitting well yet, and he'd need to treat this in a much less blase manner if he was actually to achieve anything. He really hoped that Chimera wasn't still so far in the closet that he didn't realise his own desires, because it was going to be hard taking that seriously when the other looked like he did.
Still, he had to try his absolute best.

517 WC b-b-b-baka | The soft sounds of footfall were stopped in their tracks by a sudden burst of laughter. Chimera whirled around to see Luka quite literally doubled over in a manic bout of giggles. His face couldn't display any color, but the way his ears pulled back and his eyes went wide showed quite a bit of embarrassment even though he kept his white and black color palette. Chimera grumbled--it came out more like a growl, unintentionally--as Luka collected himself. "Look, I did not pick the color. It's my hero suit! And it had sleeves that weren't so...this when I started out..." His halfhearted grumpy explanation fell short of actual irritation, "Yojin made it, but Orlov-sensei gave me some, ugh, 'design changes'. Which I think is his way of trying to blind villains into submission..."
In truth Chimera quite liked his hero costume. Yes, its current iteration was a bit louder than he had wanted; his old one looked more like gym clothes but with golden yellow trim and tubing in the shirt to keep him cool. The newest design was much more ostentatious. Not bad, just...loud. Loud and proud.
And it honestly did look like something Freddy Mercury would wear.
That nickname had stuck whether he'd wanted it to or not.
When Luka finally found words again Chimera was staring down (very down) at the shorter (much shorter) student with crossed arms and a still definitely flustered glare. "You're doing a great job at that already." Chimera sighed and dropped his arms to his side, glancing up and back at UA instead of at Luka. He knew that there were some people on campus with hearing good enough to hear from here to the dorms if they tried; he'd heard more than his fair share of things people were trying to be, ahem, subtle about in the dorms. So he was a little nervous to talk anywhere on school grounds. But it wasn't like Yojin was one of those people, and it wasn't like he was even here right now anyway.
Chimera drew in a small, nervous breath. "...yeah. I do need advice. And. You could probably have guessed what it was about because of--" he had a hard time keeping his ears from pulling back more as he talked, more and more embarrassed by the bluntness of his invitation by the second, "--...how I called you out here. It's. It's about a guy. That I...that I really like."
He was quiet for a second. There was a part of him that knew the first name Luka was going to guess, because it had been, apparently, incredibly obvious to every other person with eyes and a functional gaydar at the school.
Sure, he wasn't the last to know, but that wasn't a great feeling either.
"...and before you ask, yes, it's who you think it is. Probably. If. If you think I'm talking about my ex-roommate slash current housemate. Him. Yeah."
Chimera went quiet, to let that hit Luka, however much or little it would at all.

Watching the large fluffy male get huffy over his costume made it even harder to keep a straight face, but honestly what could he expect? It was pretty clear that Chimera was going through a gay panic and he looked like that. There was very little that seemed straight when he looked at someone in that outfit, and that was just too funny. It was really the sort of outfit that wouldn't look out of place on the famous musicians from over one hundred years ago, he was just missing a mustache and microphone.
Despite his intense amusement, Luka was self-aware enough to notice the other teen's concerns and casual glances towards to the school, "we can walk if that'd make it easier" he offered, gesturing away from the school so that they could get away from any potential snoops. Casually stepping up to Chim, he patted the other hero student on the hand and began to walk away in the direction that he had gestured. "It's been obvious to me since first year fluffums," the slime called over his shoulder, the smile on his face less 'little shit' and more 'comforting friend' now that he had moved on to the much more serious topic of their discussion.
Really, Chimera had been pretty obsessed with his friend for as long as Luka had known them, even if they'd never really run in the same circles even Luka had been able to see that. That of course made the current situation a lot harder for the taller male, considering the fact that his crush was dating his sister, a real tough situation. The slime was pretty glad that he didn't have to worry about that sort of thing, not only was Elise pretty much stuck on one person since they were kids, but even if she was single she wouldn't want anything to do with anyone that Luka wanted to date.
Not that he had any luck dating. He knew he was a snacc, but no one was hungry.
"So, what is it you wanted to actually ask me? I'm assuming that it's not really something you can just boogle to find out. Do I need to explain how it all works between guys? Or is this more a heart thing than an anatomical thing?" Luka was trying to lighten the mood a little with the joking tone in his voice, though he wasn't sure if that was enough to really get that across. "Whatever it is, I promise I won't judge you, it's hard enough to talk to people about this sort of thing without being worried about getting judged..." he paused for a few moments in thought, "you know, it's kinda funny, I've never actually done the whole 'coming out' thing I've read about, I just kinda threw my gay out into the world and screw everyone who has an issue with it. This might be my first real serious conversation about this sort of thing, barring an uncomfortable discussion with my mother, which totally doesn't count!"
He knew he was babbling a little, but the goal was to try and make sure that Chim was comfortable enough to talk with him about something like this.
