The prison break presented all kinds of opportunities for enterprising villains. Ndeye Ndao- A.K.A. Calibar- had looked into a good number... before deciding that ultimately, many of them would be conflicts of interest for her. After all, a big part of this particular conflict was villain-on-villain crime... as a villain for hire, she recognized the hazard of being alienated by either side. The best opportunities right now were against those who were disadvantaged and on the run... in other words, prisoners who'd been sitting in the hole, sweating, thinking they might get shanked at any moment due to an outside bounty on their heads. Now that they were busted loose, it was their time to do or die: escape or be taken out in the chaos.
Ndeye had committed to create one such disappearance. She looked at her quarry's face in a dark photograph on her smartphone... the woman on screen, named Mien, looked like a typical office-worker type, with black hair in a ponytail and a somewhat round face. Apparently, she was actually some kind of villain who used money-magnet powers to rob banks. She didn't look like much of a challenge, but she'd made it out of the prison and into hiding in an old apartment building. Ndeye had tracked her here and staked out the entrance for now, while she planned her means of attack.
"One woman is a meager challenge. I almost wonder if I should not hunt some random responding hero instead. Sharpening my game might be worth more than this..."
But the money was pretty good, she had to admit to herself. Sometimes, the easiest motivations were impossible to turn one's nose up at.
Rain had begun to pour from overhead; Ndeye ignored it and simply pulled her fang-print kerchief up higher on the bridge of her nose, scowling into the darkness with amber-yellow eyes. She'd dressed in her "battle gear," which really just meant a black, close-fitting tank top and running shorts down to her knees, exposing much of her rain-slick, dark-toned flesh. A few scales glistening on her biceps threatened to turn into full armor from fingers to shoulder at any moment, once she spotted her quarry...
"But I need some way to bring her out..."
At least the criminal wasn't going anywhere... Unless someone else with powers more unconventional than hers was after Mien too, chances were, she'd stay in the apartment all night.
"... I could kill for a beer at the Denominator..."
The more Ndeye thought about the situation, the more irritable she became. She half thought about just busting into random apartments until she found the right one... that would at least create some chaos and keep her busy.
As if in answer to her desire for some action, the sound of a gunshot came from somewhere nearby, along with shattering glass. Was someone else after her target?! Gritting her teeth and adopting a dark scowl, Ndeye began to ascend the staircase with long steps, heading towards the source of the noise.
