♔It was hard to tell just who Yuhiko was more annoyed at. Those plebeians in that accursed chat, or himself for letting their petty words actually annoy him? What was with their weak mentality? Did they seriously think that they knew anything? Whoever that one student who was not even worth remembering in the boy's mind was who said that Yuhiko's 'type' would not even last a month. That right there annoyed Yuhiko. As if these plebeians knew anything about the Yuzuki heir! Did they think he was just one of those stereotypical 'rich boys' who had everything handed to them? Were they really that shortsighted?
That kind of mentality... These fools think they could read me like a book. If that's the kind of person they think I am, then a child could easily deceive them. How oblivious!
Their presumption was not the only thing that annoyed Yuhiko. All this cheerful talk taking place in the chat. Was nobody here taking this school seriously? They were all supposed to be training to become heroes, the protectors of the people, the upholders of the law! Acting like immature schoolchildren, thinking that everyone were all friends. How ridiculous! Friendship was nothing more than a childish delusion. Yuhiko had that lesson drilled into his brain throughout his lonely childhood. The path to success was a lonely road. People only fell into two categories. Those who use, and those who get used. There was no other way. He doubted that anyone here genuinely cared about anyone else. It was all an act, right? People just pretending to care about each other so they could get favors from each other. That seemed far more logical.
If they want to delude themselves into thinking that friendship actually holds any meaning, then they can go right ahead. But I'm not interested in wasting my time. I'll become a great hero, and I don't need to be coddled by anyone to do it!
Unlike them, Yuhiko was determined to not need anyone's help. He refused to get sidetracked by 'friendship' or anything of that sort. His purpose was clear. To train and become the greatest hero. To ensure that he upholds his end of the deal that he had made with his father. To become great, or to be disowned and thrown to the streets stripped of everything. Yuhiko was not going to lose. No, to him, victory was the only option. There was no room for failure. He needed to succeed. And for that to happen, getting sidetracked with other people was simply out of the question.
That was why he was out training all by himself. Pushing himself to the limit. Unlike these jokers, Yuhiko was serious about his mission. He wanted to become the best. He needed to get stronger. As he was right now, his current condition was not nearly enough. He had to get stronger, faster, smarter, better in every way. Better than all these fools who talk big. Unlike them, Yuhiko wished to use his actions to prove himself rather than mere words.
Let these delusional plebeians waste their own time. I don't care. I'll just get stronger. And when the time comes to step up, I'll gladly stand at the top and watch all the losers whine and complain. Then it will be clear that my way of thinking is far more in line with what a hero should be.
Yuhiko trained on and on, for hours. He could not afford to slow down. He could not afford to be left behind. He had to become stronger, one step at a time. Those idiots probably thought that he was just an entitled brat who had everything handed to him, but that was very much incorrect. All worthy members of the Yuzuki family worked hard to achieve their goals, worked hard to earn their wealth and status, worked hard to rise to the top and crush the competition beneath their feet. Yuhiko was no different. He refused to have anything handed to him. He worked hard to the point of collapse to get to where he was, to continue moving forward. He refused to be like those idiots in chat! He refused to be content with mediocrity! He refused to slow down!
Though perhaps it was for that reason that he now found himself collapsed on the ground. He refused to allow himself to be slowed down by anything, not even his own body. Which was why he was now aching in pain and could barely move. Am I really so weak? This is unacceptable! I have to do better than this! And because that was not enough humiliation already, there happened to be a student who noticed him on the ground. Yuhiko sighed as the student (who seemed to be a girl with a spider for a head) made her way over to him to help him up.
"Thank you, but I don't need your help or your pity. Kindly back off." But naturally, the girl refused to listen. Yuhiko gritted his teeth in annoyance as the girl began to help him up and walk him over to the infirmary. Why do these plebeians ignore me? I'm not so weak as to require help from anyone. But it was no use. It was not like she would listen to anything he told her. Why are plebeians so stubborn?
At last, Yuhiko was taken to the school nurse. Seeing as he had studied up on who the staff in this school was, Yuhiko already recognized the heroine. Seeing the spider girl tell the nurse about what had happened, Yuhiko sighed and rolled his eyes. Great, am I going to be treated to a lecture now? Still, this wasn't all bad. Perhaps a conversation with the heroine would prove to be enlightening? In any case, it was at least better than the fools in the school chat. At least an actual heroine would not be boring to talk with.
"Hello, Nakahara-sensei." A small bow of his head, because even Yuhiko had his moments of politeness. "I can assure you that I'm perfectly fine." But of course, she would be the judge of that. In any case, it was unlikely that he would be allowed to leave so soon. So there was not much else he could do but sit there and listen to whatever the heroine had to say to him.

There had been a few accidents here and there that would need her attention and she worked all of this out by hand to add to the files she had about students. Mostly didn't go into detail and could be deleted later, or more like trashed out; sprained left ankle, need to make sure it is okay next week. Afraid of needles. Stuff like that so she knew how it worked, overheated; plasma cells in the blood, ready to be explored by user. No name, the small notes would be tackled but there were about four on a small stack next to her while she sat with a cup tea at the table in the first room. She took a deep breath and a sip of her tea when the door opened and she noticed one of her students that worked at the infirmary and well it was kind of obvious that the struggle was all over his face, but that wasn't the only thing that was on his face, he looked exhausted and pale. She stood up and put the files aside on another shelf and she thanked Kumoko and turned her attention to the student. So this was the infamous Yuhiko Yuzuki. She remembered vaguely that it was Serperior that pointed out something about him and the chat and that Kitsu would look after it later, after all, he was the first b teacher's student. She took a deep breath and let it out through her nostrils. "Take a seat Yuzuki-san." she told him coolly and stood up, there was some information she had on everyone but with new students that were definitely just starting training and just extending their knowledge about their quirks, there was not much for her to know yet. She took the little flashlight she had and asked him to take off his glasses, next she followed by checking the reaction of his pupils and checked the skin colour he had. Normally she believed he was already quite pale so that did not say anything but seriously, there was quite something going on. "There is no shame in saying you are tired or anything like that." She mused softly before getting up to the cupboard above the sink where she held the food wears and she took some of the nutrition bars with honey and chocolate, hazelnuts and without, with peanut butter and all those sorts of things, she had about four different flavours and put them on the table with a bottle of water, "Let's start here and tell me how you really feel. I understand from Kumoko-kun that you were in the training facilities so I guess you were training on your own, and with your quirk?" Something they need permission for but she assumed that was all a done deal and besides there was no known damage, so she wouldn't go and make a big deal about that, right now it was for him to spill the beans and she would maybe ask him in a bit why he went to train to the end, so far that he was far from exhausted. She tilted her head a little to see what the student would do, there was too much of an uptight and a high attitude, Nimue doubted she would be the one to push through it, but that did not mean that she wouldn't try.

♔With a nod, Yuhiko did as he was told and took a seat. His facial expression remained neutral. He did not know what to expect, but he felt no need to worry. What was the worst that could happen here, besides enduring a possible scolding? Even if that happened, it was not going to be a big deal. Perhaps lesser people would cower in fear of being told off. But not Yuhiko. To him, only weak-minded fools would worry about such things. He was many things, but weak was not one of them.
Yuhiko did as instructed, removing his glasses, letting Nimue do her checkup. The more cooperative Yuhiko was, then perhaps the sooner he would get to leave. Hopefully that would be the case. There really were so many more things Yuhiko wished to do other than be here. After all, sitting in the infirmary hardly qualified as training, studying, or really anything productive in his eyes. At least when it came to furthering his goal of becoming the greatest hero. But perhaps thinking like that could be rash. Perhaps the heroine would provide some enlightening words of advice that would prove invaluable. It was worth listening to what she had to say. Even if not, Yuhiko was raised to not be rude to his superiors. He had manners, after all.
But of course, Nimue's first words made Yuhiko frown. Though the urge to roll his eyes and sigh were great, he would at least try to refrain from doing so. "With all due respect, Nakahara-sensei, I cannot agree. Admitting to weakness is something I neither do nor tolerate." Perhaps the commoners would be fine with whining and admitting that they were too weak and tired to go on. But Yuhiko was no commoner. He was a Yuzuki. From day one, he had so many lessons drilled into his head. Among those numerous lessons were to never admit to weakness. Work hard and waste not a single moment of his time doing anything that did not get him closer to his mission. If his body was too weak and got tired, then he would need to work harder and force himself to grow. Allowing even a moment of weakness meant getting left behind by the world. And that could never happen!
Not that I could ever expect anyone to understand that. Their world is not my world. My world has no room for mediocrity, no room for mistakes, no room for anything less than utter perfection.
Yuhiko eyed the nutrition bars and bottle of water. However, he refused to touch it unless Nimue requested or ordered him to take it. "How I really feel?" Was doing that really necessary? Still, she was the teacher, he was the student, and nothing would change that. "Very well." Crossing his arms, Yuhiko then spoke in an extremely calm, almost bored tone. Not that he could help talking the way he did, but that was just how it was.
"I am still relatively new, so I figured that maybe, just maybe, it would be wise to get to know some of the members of the student body. But that seems to be a colossal mistake. I'm frankly quite astounded at just how many of those commoners- er sorry, students, don't really seem to have their priorities straight. Tell me, Nakahara-sensei, this is a school to raise and train the next generation of heroes, is it not? And yet, I feel like there are too many students who seem to forget that from what I've seen in the chat. I'm allowed to be honest, correct? Not rude by any means. Well, not intentionally rude, but it's a habit I am trying to fix. I need to clarify that. But yes, I merely wish to converse and not be rude. Just honest. So I simply tell these people that I'm only interested in getting stronger, to help serve the law and protect the citizens, that I'm not interested in friendship, or getting along with others. That I don't want to deviate from my purpose. Is there anything inherently wrong with that? I think not."
Yuhiko then let out a sigh. This was still extremely baffling to him. "And yet, these absolute troglodytes- er, force of habit, I again apologize. I meant students. Yes, these students, these people who are supposed to be heroes-in-training, just don't seem to get it. They begin to whine and complain about me. They then begin to presume that they could ever understand who I am, dismissing me as yet another 'rich boy' with a 'foul attitude' that won't last three months in here. And why, just because I don't want to preach and sing and do the whole 'power of friendship' routine like the rest of them? They even have the nerve to compare me to a racist! All because I'm not 'nice' and 'happy' like the rest of them? Well excuse me for not wanting to lower myself to fit their arbitrary standards. Excuse me for actually wanting to be a hero and not a foolhardy adolescent!"
Yuhiko then sighed again. The fact that his voice still had a calm tone to it was frankly quite astonishing. "Anyway, the fact that these students fail to take their position as future heroes seriously is honestly annoying, not to mention disrespectful to the true heroes who risk their lives every day to combat villainy and save lives. So I go off to train, because unlike them, I actually do take my time here very seriously. And I suppose..." Another sigh. "I suppose I trained harder than usual and end up going over my physical limits because I just couldn't keep that baffling chat out of my mind."
The boy was honestly quite surprised. He never got to talk this much at once. "And before you ask, yes, I did first ask for permission to train. I'm very much a stickler for the rules." Yuhiko then paused, seeing what the heroine wanted to say in response to all of that. Would she understand his view? Would she sympathize with the others and try to justify their stupidity, try to justify the whole 'power of friendship' mentality? Or would she see reason, see that Yuhiko was more than just an arrogant rich boy, see that his views were valid? Regardless, Yuhiko would listen to Nimue's response.

She took a deep breath and her normal and friendly expression took a stern look when Yuhiko said that he could not admit to weakness and she felt like people always looked at it in the wrong way. The same with other students talking about it and so on. She felt a slight itch when people said so, and yet probably calling others weak. "Knowing your weakness or your limit is something a good hero would know." She said neutrally, although Nimue herself felt like she was snapping, "If you do not know your limits or what would be strong against you, you can fail your job and that is something that is far worse than knowing when you reached the maximum of your capabilities. The chance of failing is far bigger if you only focus on what you can do and not on what could be improved or should be kept an eye on." She did try to calm down, it was dumb to consider. She remembered Miku saying the same, not about weaknesses but that knowing about poisons was a bad thing, a villain thing and that she wouldn't, but if you did not know how poison worked how could you make an antidote and if you didn't know what your weaknesses were, how would you improve? Which was why she pushed the conversation a little more forward. She would ask the boy how he really felt. For medical this was of the utmost importance to know, was he tired? Did he feel like he had to vomit or that he strained a muscle, it was very important to consider and wonder about it. She would just have to shake it, in a mental way in his head to get him to admit it and think about it in another perspective.
She grabbed a nutrition bar and a bottle of water and put it on the table next to him and stared at him as he did not take it and crossed his arms. Most stubborn child in U.A.? Probably. Then he never met a South African. She had to resist sighing as Yuhiko talked, what was this boy a machine? He did not seem to know much about how normal kids reacted and that he was the odd one out, but she had no intention to tell him that for sure. She waited and raised an eyebrow as if she was going to ask him about the permission, his whole speech and tone had already cleared up enough for her and she crossed her arms as well and leaned back in her own chair. "I will give you a new task as a sort of homework then. Try to see other perspectives." She said very calmly herself as well, "No one their method is the best, you yourself overworked and you take that nutrition bar and the water now and try to calm down, no more training for today. There is nothing wrong with the training and there is nothing wrong with limits and practice. You can do that if you want and you did it correctly until you got carried away. But do not forget that not everyone had your upbringing and not everyone is the same, surely there are students here that have a big outlet in that chat but that does not mean they are stupid or forgetting what they are here for. Do you know their story? Do they know yours? No. But this is not how you make any partners." He had, after all, said that he did not want friendship, "Because let me tell you of my experience, doing everything all on your own is not going to work and it will also bring you in trouble." That happened after all with her and Serperior and Hellhound when trying to stop Mia. "YOu don't have to be friends or hang out with everyone twenty-four seven but maybe it's something to learn why people are here and if there are people like you here." She closed her eyes shortly, took a deep breath and just uncrossed her arms and looked at Yuhiko, "After all, you all have the same goal. Become a hero." And that was the most important part that counted. How that worked and what the school needed would be figured out in the next couple of years, considering the first group was not done yet and had not graduated yet, soon enough that would happen.

♔Remaining silent, Yuhiko listened to the heroine speak. Even one as harsh and rude as him knew when to be respectful. Admittedly, Nimue's points were valid. Once she was done speaking, Yuhiko would respond briefly. "I must admit your point is a fair one. Recognizing my weaknesses and striving to fix them is a valid approach. I know when to admit I am mistaken. But still, I am not one to wish to be pitied for admitting to having weaknesses to begin with. As far as everyone else is concerned, I have no weakness to exploit, and all I need to do is train enough to solidify that as fact." Or at least get close enough to having no weaknesses. After all, despite striving for perfection, Yuhiko was only human. He understood that humans were inherently flawed. Perhaps that was a reason acting like a reasonable human was difficult for him.
Either that, or he just liked being an insufferable prick. It was one of those two.
Letting Nimue speak without further interruption, Yuhiko remained silent as he listened to her words. He would say nothing until the heroine had said everything she needed to say to him. As he listened, Yuhiko would reluctantly take the nutrition bar, resisting the urge to gag as he tasted it. Ugh, this thing is bland and tasteless! How can anyone but a commoner with absolutely no taste ever take delight in consuming trash like this? Despite his thoughts, Yuhiko would silently eat the entire bar and drink all his water without any visible complaint. There was no need for him to worry about calming down, as he was perfectly calm at the moment. Having vented his frustration with the morons of that accursed chat, Yuhiko felt much better.
Once Nimue was finished, Yuhiko spoke. "Alright, a few things, Nakahara-sensei. First, thank you for the bar and water." A short polite bow. "Second, I'll accept the fact that I am done with training for today, and I also accept your 'homework'. I understand where you're coming from. But while we're on the subject, please allow me a moment to speak, if I may." Yuhiko wanted to get what was on his mind out of the way, and he preferred to not put this off.
"I understand having to work with these other heroes-in-training. And while it pains me to do so as I vastly prefer operating alone, I am perfectly willing to accept having to team up with them. However, I wish to raise several questions. Why exactly must I make an attempt to try and understand these people? Why must I see other perspectives? Why should I care about others when my training should be the one I need to focus on? What benefit is there to me to have to do more than tolerate the others long enough to cooperate with them on missions? Honestly, I do want to know, Nakahara-sensei, because I genuinely want to understand why trying to understand other people is beneficial to me. Is it not enough for me to become strong enough to uphold the law, to stop villainy, to keep other people safe? Is it not enough for me to be content with not caring about others and really not caring that others won't care for me? In what way would trying to empathize with people I neither know nor wish to know be acceptable enough to jeopardize my goal of self-improvement with no distraction or deviation from that goal?
"In short, Nakahara-sensei, why go out of my way to understand and care about what others think if there is no benefit to me in either the short or long run?"
Contrary to what some may think, Yuhiko was not completely stubborn. He wasn't unwilling to change. Far from it, in fact. He truly did wish to know the answers to his questions. He wanted to know if there was any way to improve his physical and mental capabilities, even if it involved shattering any of his existing preconceptions. If Nimue did have an answer to those questions, then Yuhiko was more than willing to listen. He was more than willing to swallow his pride long enough to admit that he was wrong. He was more than willing to try and adapt, to change for the better.
However, Nimue's answer would need to be very convincing. Others in the past had tried to sway Yuhiko's opinion on the whole friendship thing. All had failed. So far, not a single person had managed to convince Yuhiko that it was okay, no, desirable to try and actually make friends, to try and show empathy to others, even those beneath him. Would the heroine share the same fate as the others, failing to make a breakthrough with Yuhiko? Or would she be the first one to knock some sense into him and give the Yuzuki heir the wake-up call that he unknowingly and so desperately needed?

She did not like how she acted. She wondered if she acted out the longer she listened to this and the more she thought of Serperior, how often would he consider her not good enough? She shouldn't think about Mikhail that way, it was only one person in a group of plenty that she could work with and also it was enough for others to consider how to work together. Tolerating the other was more than enough. She wondered shortly if the naga thought himself the same, having no weaknesses, not wanting others to know. "You don't have to share your weaknesses, but any shortcomings of your own would be necessary to learn from and to be able to support or enhance that in potential teamwork. The knowing of your weaknesses is mostly for you like I said and as you understood for your own good. You don't have to share it until it is very necessary." Her weaknesses were that she thought of every human as someone who ought to have a second chance, surely there were limits there and she had almost done something unforgivable. But also that she knew she could not fight at a distance or that she would always be going to try and heal someone instead of focused on fighting. That did not have to be a weakness or a shortcoming but it was something to keep in mind. "Maybe weakness isn't the right word as it has a negative origin, but you understand my point now, which is most important."
Then they continued in their debate with honest words. She swore she snapped again but she gave him homework, tried to keep her voice serene and levelled and just wanted to see what he would say. What followed next was not what she had expected, though he looked utterly unhappy with his energy bar and the water, he was at least eating it and he thanked her. So at least someone raised this boy properly. She was interested to see that there were extremes on both sides, you had the rich like this but also the ones who had no idea and wanted for the fame and money and so on, but the same could be said from the other, there were so many variables she would not want to do research in that, but who knows maybe one day. But she listened, a little bit baffled about what words fell out of the boy's mouth and the questions, why... why... only why. But her question would be; why did he need an answer? So held up and holding on to a meaning of the world, but let her tell him this; the world did not always have a meaning.
"I have two sorts of counter questions or rhetorical questions if you please, something to maybe consider. I cannot answer the questions for you, not by myself, you yourself should need to figure out why it might be of importance to you why you should learn their stories and their personalities. I can give you my reasons why I do that but those are my own, they would never have to become your reasons. But here is the first, looking at your future and you just said that the way the students behave around you is an offense to us heroes, but did you consider that the ones who are heroes now, would be able to get so far if they did not work together? I tell you to learn and understand more of your fellow students, that does not mean you have to like them but be able to learn more perspectives might in the future help you to see something from another point of view which will solve the case that you else would be struggling with for all eternity. There are many stories like that in the old mythology lessons, it might be worth to read it if that is something you liked." She eyed him shortly, she did not need an answer, she would not be surprised if he would give her one but she wasn't done yet. She had said her first valued point, but her second was going to be a real question.
She crossed her arms again and leaned back in her chair, eyeing the boy strictly. "How will you become a good hero if civilians are even less well behaved as some of your fellow students? Will you discriminate or make a distinction on who you rescue and who you would not? It is definitely something to think about Yuzuki-san." Because if he already called the students plebs now, wait until he would bump into the less unfortunate out there. She gave free medical service for the homeless and the poor because they were people and they deserved better, but with this attitude... she wondered if they would be saved at all.
