There were only a few days left before Poemu moved into the dorms at U.A. Academy. Her room, normally an incomprehensible mess, was now a somewhat comprehensible one. A lot of the essentials had been tidied up and packed into boxes. All her books, games and manga stowed away, along with as much of her merchandise, posters and figurines as she could conceivably cram into a dorm room. There were still some odds and ends lying around, strewn about on the floor or crowding her cluttered desk, but all-in-all, her room had never really looked neater. Most of her technology was also packed away, with one notable exception. Her own little war machine, the custom-built Personal Computer that she'd had for the last couple years, was still set up on her desk, ready for use as her portal into countless other worlds. The better part of her life took place with the help of this marvelous machine, so Poemu was putting off packing it away until it was absolutely necessary. Besides, if she unplugged it too soon, she'd miss raid night! Speaking of which, Poemu was currently booting up her PC for a round of gaming in one of her favorite online experiences. Hunched over her keyboard with an unhealthy posture, her fingers deftly tapped away, mismatched eyes transfixed on the screen as the launcher booted up. Poemu wasn't going to stop playing games when she was at U.A., but she still intended to make the most of them before she went off, given that her free time might take a hit. Well, it was actually more likely that her sleeping hours were just going to be reduced, but he was still in denial on that. Within a few moments, the game was booted up, a popular MMORPG that was based on a long-running franchise. Last Story XXIV. Poemu had been playing it about since launch, and wasn't going to miss the chance to do some raiding with her online compatriots. The thought of them had the girl wondering if she'd be able to make some friends at U.A. Most, if not all, of her connections were online, so having real-life comrades did sound strange yet exciting to her. The idea of her miraculous high school debut swam in her mind, despite knowing deep down her fantasies were likely going to be quite far from the truth. Pushing those thoughts aside, Poemu logged in to her main character, a small, dolled up avatar who was of the game's gnome-like race. She wasn't usually too keen on creating overly attractive or voluptuous characters, finding it more interesting to simple ogle others' instead. Once she loaded into the server, returning to one of the game's bustling hubs where she'd last logged off, Poemu was quick to boot up the in-game chat. Tonight's activities couldn't be done alone, after all, so it was only right she get one of her more familiar online comrades on board. As she stretched her neck in the real world, Poemu tapped away and sent this friend of hers an online message. Kusa RANko: What r u doin right now Kusa RANko: Wanna raid? I still need my weapon lolol Kusa RANko: Can't trust pub tanks Kusa RANko: If you're game I can voice chat probs 'Kusa Ranko' was her online alias of choice in most circles, though usually just 'Kusa'. The origin was its own story. Just after sending those messages, Poemu fished around the various items on her desk for her headset, ready to voice chat with her compatriot if need be. It was easier to communicate that way, easier to yell at them when they made mistakes. Of course, sometimes she had to quite down for the sake of her parents, but as long as she checked her temper she should be alright... The thought of her parents had her looking at her packed up boxes, a strange feeling coming over her. It was a hell of a thing she was doing, wasn't it? Shaking the thoughts from her mind, she turned her attention back to the game, to the digital world separated from their own, where none of that crap mattered. | -tag- @username -words- 697 -notes- Gamers rise up |
