feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "I have an interesting day ahead of me today," Toma muttered as he stretched tight his heavy gauntlet onto his wrist. "and I don't think it will be any criminals thought." Toma's day had already been interesting. Right now he was sitting on a wooden bench in the middle of Akihabara's PD's locker room. He had to completely shift his sleep schedule over today too. He was awake in the *evening*, a time of day he rarely did much more than snore.
He was here to meet his new interns and apprentices. The students actually came to him this time. That made the whole situation even scarier. Last time he just had a couple of his, and they didn't get to spend much time together. Now that he was a teacher he had decided he could spend more time invested in his internships though, and this meant he could handle more students too.
'It won't be too bad for the second year students. I'm only going to keep them on patrol for an hour, two at tops for now.' He snapped the latches on his boots and heard the his that his suit made when everything got connected. Now that he was all suited up he left the equipment locker and walked his way down to the lobby. He had asked for the students to be chauffeured to the police station, and he didn't think it would take them much longer to show up. It was already 12:55 in the evening so he had a long afternoon ahead of him.

Sitting casually in the car that was taking the U.A. students to work with Junji-sensei, Luka tapped his fingers casually on his coat-clad shoulder as he watched the scenery go by. It had been a mostly silent trip, each of the students seemingly sticking to their own thoughts when they weren't making casual conversation, so the blue haired boy had remained unusually quiet for him. He didn't even bother with the playful teasing that he might have given Jace to try and encourage the orange haired boy out of his perpetual shell of nervousness, instead simply doing his best to keep the other boy as calm as he could.
Jace was always so skittish that it was good to see him pushing his boundaries, and Luka wanted to make sure that he felt supported enough that he didn't fall back on his old habits of hiding away when overwhelmed. A gentle touch on the shoulder here, a distracting comment or conversation piece there, and he'd hopefully be able to keep the tension down even as he thought about what was to come for them. Truth be told, Luka had no idea what to expect, with Junji-sensei being completely new to the school and Luka unable to find a lot about him, the request for interning had been a stab in the dark. He'd heard that the man worked in areas that the Slime boy was interested in, and decided to take a chance to see what he had to offer insofar as opportunities to learn.
Arriving at the Akihabara Police Department building, Luka stepped out without hesitation, his long coat spreading out behind him as he took a deep breath. It seemed that he was the first one on his feet, and so he waited a few moments for the other students to disembark their ride before turning and heading towards the entrance to the PD, moving quickly, but without hurrying. He didn't want to keep Junji-sensei waiting, but it also didn't look good to be in a rush, his heels tapping lightly against the sidewalk as he gestured for the others to follow if they weren't already coming along after him. He already knew Jace, and had briefly met Kumoko and Karen last year during the rather brief camping trip. The other girl he didn't know very well, so he guessed she was also a second year. That meant he should probably take some sort of guiding role as the more outgoing of the two Third Years. He could hardly expect Jace to put himself out that much just yet... it was a work in progress on that end.
Stepping into the lobby, it didn't take long to spot the Pro Hero that they were going to be working with. Luka would walk over to him and offer a polite bow. "I hope we are not late Sensei," he stated as politely as he could before straightening up with a slight grin, "I'm looking forward to seeing what it is that you have for us today~"

Man, I really wish I could sew a hero outfit that could cover my spider body. But then I wouldn't be able to hear anything if my spider legs are covered and can't pick up any sound. Not that there's anything wrong with my current suit, but still....Throughout the entire ride, Kumoko remained silent, occupying herself with her own thoughts. Despite being all cramped thanks to her spider legs, the girl did not wish to complain. She would just keep to herself, not making any comment on how sore and uncomfortable she felt. She would just wait patiently until the ride was done and she could finally stretch her legs. Despite the lack of comfort, however, Kumoko was far more excited than not. This was an internship, after all. There would be much to do, much to learn. And even if she had little clue of what to expect, the spider-headed girl looked forward to it. Of the students here with her, the only one she knew pretty well was Karen. Having worked with her during the Sports Festival, it would be neat getting to do so again. She also recognized Luka, having met him once before (though that was like a year ago, time sure flies by). The other two Kumoko did not know. Still, she looked forward to working with her fellow students. If anyone decided to talk to her, then she would not mind chatting with them. But otherwise, the spider girl would just keep to herself and stay silent. Upon arriving at their destination, Kumoko decided to let everyone else get out first before she would do so herself. That way, she would not get in anyone's way. She would then follow the others to meet with the hero. While Kumoko did not know much about Junji-sensei other than the fact that he was the teacher of class 1-S, she still looked forward to learning anything he was willing to teach the group. After hearing Luka speak, Kumoko cheerfully smiled and nodded before speaking herself. "Same here. I look forward to working under you, sensei!"WC 350

Today's internship was a bit different from the usual. For starters they weren't up first thing in the morning. Or at least they didn't need to be. Karen herself was awake early as usual so she spent quite a bit of her day musing about the activities to come in the afternoon. The second different thing was that she along with her fellow interns were being chauffeured. She wondered if this was a sign that the hero they were learning from today preferred to hold their hands more when it comes to teaching. Almost everyone else seemed to prefer to have students be more independent. She appreciated the ride however as they were supposed to come in their hero outfits. A sleeveless bodysuit would have probably drawn too much unnecessary attention if she had taken public transport. Perhaps being a police bound vehicle made people a little nervous as there wasn't much conversation to be shared on the way to their destination. She herself had most of her attention on her phone, reading messages and notes while occasionally looking up a bit of news. Having an internship meeting at a police department building made her wonder if there was any special reason for it so she did try looking up on the latest buzz about the area. Before long they would arrive at the place and would finally be released from their slightly cramped ride. Well it was probably worse for some others but she wasn't one to complain about stuff like that anyway. They headed for where the hero Vega was waiting for them. A new addition to the UA faculty, he was in charge of support classes if she was not mistaken. "Good afternoon sensei! Looking forward to working with you today."Following suit with the others, she would greet him politely and wait for him to explain what was on today's agenda.

Jace was...Tense. For many reasons, and not just the ones one would expect during such a highly anticipated and important event for his year. His final year. He gulped as that fact played itself back once more, struggling to digest the finality of it. He reeeally didn't feel ready for that, and several times he had to remind himself that it wasn't a simple internship he was here for, he was here for a full out apprenticeship, to truely study under Vega. The man in truth was a mystery to Jace, he knew virtually nothing about him. It'd taken Hachi sensei to tell him Vega specializes in recon for him to even know to apprentice with him in the first place, and that was exactly where his knowledge of the teacher ended past he was a support studies teacher. And Jace wasn't even entirely confident he had that right. And then, to add to everything, there was what he was wearing.
Jace had never actually worn his hero costume before this. He hadn't really had one, it had been for the most part unnecessary, Jace able to move and use his flame abilities in the school's gym clothes with no trouble and thus treated that as his official outfit more or less. But now that time was over, mostly. With the help of the currently consoling Luka, and by help he meant being more or less dragged out shopping until he could agree on a design that they could present to the support students. So now, instead of his usual attire he was wearing a flak jacket vest that cut off at the navel with a high, solid collar along with a partially visible mesh under layer for whatever protection it could offer him, along with loose flood pants and open toed sandals. Thankfully he had the comfort of wearing his gym shirt as an undershirt so his stomach wasn't showing, which would have prevented anyone from able to pry him away from his room. He'd also been assured everything was fireproof but he'd yet to actually see if that was the case. So yes, Jace was stressed, and it was showing in his anxiety ridden face.
Honestly the only thing that was keeping him from hyperventilating from anxiety was Lukas consoling and gentle attempts to divert his attention as the car drove them to the station. But still, the car ride itself was just a reminder. A reminder of everything this year meant, and the pressures now laid bare. He tried to gulp down the rising feeling in his throat as his face got even paler than the ginger boy normally was. All of this was almost enough to make him forget it wasn't just him and Luka in the bordering uncomfortably full car they were in. Almost. Though, to be completely honest, it didn't really change much only because he knew who absolutely none of them were, having never met any of them. The spider headed...girrl?...which was definitely eye-catching though, and on any other day Jace might even be intrigued and probably slightly unnerved, but at the moment he was feeling too many other emotions to have room for more. The rest of the company was a distracted blue haired girl and a black haired girl, not that Jace tried to make conversation.
And as Jace walked that tight line between extreme anxiety and panic attack, soon they'd arrive, and Luka would run out ahead. Jace for his part did manage to get out on his own alright, and would rather slowly make his way with the rest inside, his paleness being replaced by a blush as the blood starting to his face and body. When he'd reach Vega, his face would be bright crimson from nerves, and would only meet his eyes for a moment before anxiously looking down to the ground. U-Umm...H-Hello...

Yang
Yang was excited. One of the internships she applied for actually responded back. That means she was accepted. Of course there was a catch. Whoever Mr. Toma was wanted them to show up at a specific spot with their hero attire. Yang sighed when she realized she didn’t have a Hero outfit as of yet. Well she will definitely stick out like a sore thumb. She put on her usual clothes, cargo camouflage pants, a black tee shirt, a belt that holstered all three of her swords, her quirk regulators that looked like gloves, and her boots.
She must have taken her time to lace up her boots because when she arrived, she was the past person to do so. Wasn’t that embarrassing? She bowed respectfully at Mr. Toma and looked at the other student’s that were interning with him. She recognized Karen right away from Ms. Red Horn’s quirk integrity class. But that was the only person that she was familiar with. She took in her surroundings. The Police Department, Mr. Toma wanted them to meet up here. It was quite interesting and Yang was curious on what they would do. She then looked at each student studying their features.
Her hazel eyes with gray fleeks had landed on each of the students. One was a male that was pale with long light blue hair and golden eyes. Another was female with a spider head…? Probably had to do with her quirk. It made Yang feel a bit more comfortable that she wasn’t going to be the only odd person in this group. The last student was a male taller than her. He had orange wavy hair and brownish gray eyes.
After getting a good look at the people that she will be interning with. She realized something. None of these people knew sign language did they? Yang sighed. Well if they introduced themselves, Yang would seriously be the odd person out. But of course she was already the odd person out. She had bowed respectfully at Mr. Toma instead of talking like the rest of them. All she could do was hope that she internship would go smoothly.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | The students all milled into the Ploce Station one by one. They gave their little introductions and showed some classic Japanese politeness towards him. Even though he shouldn't have been, he was surprised by how young they were. It almost felt like these new students looked younger than the second years the year before.
"I am glad to have you all here today." He cleared his throat and directed his attention to the students. "As part of your internships, I will be showing you the barebones job that Heroes perform. That job is patrolling. Whether it is day or night Heroes need to be out and looking for people to help."
He waves for the students to follow him as he walked towards and out the door. "We have a lot of walking to do so we can all get to know each other on the sidewalk." He had a lot to discuss with the student on top of showing them the ropes and having them help him on patrol. It didn't stop him from being nervous. He wasn't nervous about the kids getting hurt, the chances something bad actually happened that he couldn't deal with were pretty slim, no he was nervous about talking to such a big group of kids.
"I bet you guys have lots of questions for me." He turned to look over his shoulder at the students. He was surprised that some of the kids actually showed up in some sort of costume or gear. It made him feel better that he had his gear on and didn't feel as out of place in broad daylight. "And that means I should probably introduce myself."
"As you guys know..." He stopped at an intersection and stepped back from the sidewalk so people could pass. "My name is Toma Junji. Out here in the field, I would like for you to address me by my Hero name, Vega. While I may be the first year support teacher I wouldn't actually consider myself a support Hero."
"I actually patrol Tokyo from the skies, at night, normally." He slapped the crosswalk button so that he and the students could cross the busy street. "So beating feet out here with your kids will be fun. I have a patrol Circuit planned out for us that should keep interesting, so don't worry about being bored. Even if there are no criminals to bust there is plenty of work for us to do today."
"Before we actually begin..." He watched as the crosswalk indicator flashed for them to wait. "DO any of you have any questions?"

If nothing else, it seemed that Luka hadn't manage to bungle up first impressions, and the other students followed suit in their own way. It was a little less coordinated than he would have liked, but he supposed he couldn't expect them to all just smoothly slot together. Hell, at this stage he'd count the fact that Jace was here and conscious as a win, it wasn't entirely impossible that the orange haired boy would faint and or run back to U.A., in no particular order. The German boy was determined to bring Jace out of his shell and into confidence at least a little bit before they graaduated, because the other boy definitely needed the boost to his self esteem.
Broken out of his musing by Toma speaking, Luka followed after the pro-Hero and out onto the street, his blue hair and black coat swaying with his every step as he moved out, fully expecting the other students to follow after him. The man's explanation of what he was going to be doing with them and a general overview wasn't anything particularly special, and he wasn't too overwhelmed by the whole situation. Questions? It all seemed rather straightforward to the Third Year student, at least right now, since there wasn't all that much information given, but the lack of information didn't really trigger questions. They were going to patrol on a route with Vega, it was probably going to be fairly calm since he talked about a usual route and being familiar with the area. Still, he supposed there were things he could ask that would make him more aware of what was going on. Information was power after all.
"Are we going to be referring to one another by Hero names as well?" was his first question, something that seemed likely, but hadn't really been confirmed. After he received an answer to that question he would move on to more mission related ones. "What kinds of troubles occur in this area? Is violent crime a possibility, or is this more to put forward a presence to encourage the population? How do citizens react to us in this region?" His questions were things he could probably figure out quickly enough on his own, but he wasn't really on his own here and he wanted to have a better idea of what they were walking into. Beyond that, it might get the others thinking of questions in a similar vein, which couldn't hurt.
Feeling he'd perhaps asked enough and not wanting to take over, Luka allowed any other 'non-vital' questions to sit within his mind and give the other students a chance to also put forward their own queries. He wasn't the only student here after all and he wouldn't try and monopolise the opportunity presented to them all.

Their teacher would give a brief background on himself and his usual duties. Her eyes lit up slightly when he mentioned that he typically patrolled the skies at night. That was the sort of thing she was thinking about when she signed up for internships so she was glad she got this one right. But then he would go on to say they would be beating feet today. Well looking at the lineup of students present, perhaps that made more sense. She would just have to save her queries on flying for later and try to enjoy whatever Vega actually had in store for the group. Leading the students across a busy street he would ask if anyone had any questions. If this had been a party of second years she would have taken the lead with the conversation there. But they had some upperclassmen among them. In her mind it would have been rude to not give her seniors the opportunity to talk first. Besides, it was likely they had the same questions she would have asked anyway. Luka was the one who spoke up in response, inquiring about the area and what they were bound to see while on patrol. She could sense that he was being quite serious about this, bringing up crime rate and public reception of heroes. Interesting topics for sure, but rather heavy. Was he not one for small talk? Then again third years were being held to a higher standard in these internships. But yes, not wanting to diffuse the mood, she decided to keep silent herself until the questions were answered. The response would tell her a bit about what they would expect to see today anyway. It wasn't wrong. Just a little unexpected. The other upperclassman with them might have similar questions too. For now she would be satisfied with just listening.

He didn't look like a hero. It was an intrusive thought, one the already teetering boy wasn't trying to have. But it couldn't be helped, and it was the first thought that came too his head upon seeing Toma. He didn't teach the upperclassmen and just as he was a mystery personality wise to the shut in boy, so was everything else. Whether he always looked like he'd just gotten up, whether he'd meant to forgo wearing his suit, his identity in the parallel world that was heroing was on purpose Jace couldn't say. All Jace could think that he didn't look like the classic heroes, or even some the vigilantes he'd watched on TV when he was younger. But given that Jace himself was dressed up looking more like a ninja than anything most would consider heroic, perhaps that wasn't entirely a bad thing.
But looks or not, Toma sensei was indeed a hero, asking to be called his hero name Vega and stating that they'd be going on an expedition. A patrol. The boy grimaced and shied away even more at his mentions of usually flying in patrol however, squirming as his blush grew. Jace would never be able to keep up with that, though how the others would fair he couldn't say. He wasn't particularly fast, usually relying more on the fact he could track people by scent than speeding alongside people. But thankfully, it wouldn't come to that as Vega sensei made it quite clear everyone would be staying grounded. The shy boy would make the second thing he says to the group not a word, but a audible sigh of relief, showing more of his skittish and eccentric nature.
And as Vega asked for questions, this would become especially more apparent. If people were expecting the two third years to take charge, it would be all to clear who it was that was doing so as Luka took advantage of Vegas opportunity to ask questions, asking several with a confidence that the small, child looking blue haired boy couldn't help but exude. And Jace, instead of asking anything, instead looked directly at his sandals, a classicly traditional Japanese footwear that didn't match his French heritage at all. But it wasn't cultural appropriation that was the reason he was wearing them, but instead pure practicality that came when you grew claws on your feet and destroyed any poor shoes you happened to be wearing when doing so. And as Jace focused on these sandals, hiding away as Vega might look to see if he had questions as the other student closest to graduation, and as he finished Lukas own, his juniors would be free to have the floor before Vega himself could decide how to proceed
