u.a. is on the case! HOW HAD TOBIAS GOTTEN HIMSELF into this mess? That was simple—he’d been strong-armed into it by his coworkers. Every pro hero and their cousin seemed to be taking-on interns and apprentices alike. It’d never occurred to Tobias because—well—criminal investigation was, in his humble opinion, boring. So much sitting crouched behind a computer, or going into the field and talking to people who quite frankly didn’t want to talk. He’d never brawled with a villain (except in Shinagawa, so that didn’t count), never participated in a chase, nor had he wielded a gun. Tobias was boring, in the grand scheme of heroism, so why would he take-on interns? Orlov and Kitsu had brought him to their side, though, lauding the importance of the behind-the-scenes work—so Tobias put forth his advertisement, as many other instructors had done, listing what felt to be a sort of romanticized version of what his job entailed. With kids training to be combat- or rescue-heroes, he expected little to no bites. Maybe a few wayward Support Students, if he was lucky. Imagine his surprise when over a half-dozen students expressed interest in working with him-- and not a single one was a support student. Well, alright then. He supposed that he would need to plan more concretely how to help these students along. … The day of the Murder Mystery was actually the second meeting that Tobias had had with his students. Their first meeting had been a lecture on the basics of processing scenes, interviewing civilians, and the likes, a lecture that both second and third years had been required to attend. It was mid-morning on a Saturday, in one of the training rooms on U.A.'s campus. It was a cavernous establishment, designed to accommodate even the most fantastic quirks. Students were likely used to seeing it in a number of arrangements for training purposes-- obstacle courses and combat rings alike, to name a few. Today, however, the back half of the room was filled with a number of tents. These tents were most commonly seen at the Sports Festival, lining various alleys and avenues. The librarian had draped the open fronts with fabric, as well, creating a fourth wall through which students could enter by pushing the curtain aside. Signs labeled each tent, written in immaculate permanent ink-- The Crime Scene and The Police Station, to name a few. Toby stood near the door, dressed in his usual business suit.In his hands, a clipboard. Behind him, almost a half-dozen individuals from their mid-twenties and well into their mid-fifties were lounging on couches, conversing quietly, perusing packets of information. They were in various modes of dress and undress. Some seemed metropolitan and fashionable, while others were affable and casual. One man, in particular, looked like Tobias had picked him up off of the streets. As students entered the door, he would offer a robust, “Good morning! Please take a seat. We will begin in a moment. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves until we begin.”He would wait until all of the enrolled students were present, before speaking-up once again, “Ladies and gentlemen, if I may have your attention please--”He’d lower his clipboard once it was quiet. “Students-- it may come as a surprise to you that we have so many people in the room today-- a number of the adults you see here are friends and acquaintances of mine that I have come to know throughout the years as an activist, a librarian, an investigator, or a pro-- so firstly, I would like to thank them for volunteering their time to be with us this morning-- Thank you--.”Tobias bowed faintly at the waist as he gave his thanks. The students were welcome to join in offering their gratitude, as well. “We’re gathered here to practice an oft overlooked facet of professional heroism-- investigation-- it comes as no surprise that combat and rescue are the most popular forms of heroism, as these receive the most publicity. Support heroes, however, occupy an equally-important role in the hero community. Support heroes coordinate efforts alongside the PSC and HOC alike to ensure the safety of civilians as well as heroes. They may also investigate quirk-related crimes alongside police departments, particularly if said crimes are hero-related.”“Today we will focus on this vein of investigation. So, before we begin-- let us first introduce ourselves, so that we know who our coworkers are.”“Fake or real identities?” the homeless-seeming man inquired. “Real, if you please. If you have an alter ego, i.e. you are a hero, you are welcome to use that alter ego rather than your actual name.”“Sure thing, brother.” Tobias cleared his throat. “So, if you could please--stand, and state your name, what year of profession or year of school is, and students-- perhaps a ‘what brings you here’ or ‘what facet of heroism is of greatest interest’ to you, hm? I will begin--”“My name is Tobias Murakami. I am the librarian here at U.A. High School, and an investigator whose focus is hero-related crimes. I have also, a number of times, used my intel to help coordinate hero efforts. All of this is done under the moniker of ‘The Informant’. Due to the nature of my work, however, I am virtually unknown in the public eye. I think, however, that I can provide a meaningful class to you today. Thank you.”Having said his introduction, Tobias turned to the person to his right-- a student-- and nodded to them, encouraging them to say follow suit. | quirk: c-rank burn, durability, heat resistance; combat abilities: jujitsu (e), magma sleeves (e), regeneration (d), cinder sprites (f)(summon); etc.: info. sifting (f), problem solving (f), interrogation (f), first aid (e) |

Right, this was going to be a better year than last year. Though not if you looked at her first activity with Itsuki, but let's not go there. She had signed up for another form of an internship, not just the way Igarashi-sensei worked but she wanted to be more behind the scenes. Having completed her training last year with Wild Heart, Hellhound and Blue Agate, she had gotten used to fighting, gotten used to using her fire quirk but that's not what she wanted. Maybe she had signed up for the wrong class, but did she know back then that she would rather be a support student? She wasn't good with anything related to technical stuff, she was not a designer, she was literally nothing. But then she had noticed the internship sign up for the Informant and finally found something she wanted to do. Being happy that it wasn't only for support students, Rowan could not help but immediately sign up.
The interesting first-class about scenes and the interviews with civilians had been very interesting and had taught her to look back at the speaking class that Ganbaroshi-sensei had held. Maybe she should ask him again for such a thing or maybe they would continue doing that with Murakami-sensei's classes. Rowan was sure that she was too blunt and distant to people to be considered a speaker or something, but it is what she wanted. So that was what she was going to work on very hard this year, with Igarashi's eyes on the cameras and stuff, she was sure to learn how to speak professionally in such situations, while with Murakami's classes she would probably be able to learn to do it better in the general sense of the word and how to talk and ask the right questions when it came to interviews with civilians and processing the scene. When she showed up early that Saturday morning in her school uniform (after all it wasn't clear if it was that or her hero outfit), she was surprised to see she was the first. Considering she did not have a dorm room here, she had expected others to be there before her. She had taken her hero outfit from the lockers and it was in the shoulder bag she carried with her but she had not changed. Her hair up in a bun, notes and pencils in her bag, a bottle of water and so on. This wasn't about quirk use, this was about strategy, about so much more than that and she wanted to get to the very detail of it. She couldn't wait. "Goodmorning sensei." She said to the librarian and made a small bow and nodded to what he said. She went to take a seat and leaned on her fingers and stared at the people that were there. Soon enough she realized she did not recognize anyone of them and turned her eyes to the door, hoping some of the other students would show up that she did know. That meant there was no one to talk to at the moment and she would just have to wait.
She would wait and eventually listen, making a small bow towards the volunteers when Murakami thanked them, because it was a polite thing to do. Her eyes would go back to the teacher when he introduced himself, considering she was the first one that came in, she quickly stood up when he was almost done and bowed again, "My name is Sakamoto Rowan, I am a third-year U.A. student, my interests for this apprenticeship lays in the work behind the scene, I think one should not underestimate the importance of that, I have to admit that it fits what I see myself doing in the future a lot more than combat work." It would save her from overusing her quirk as well, not that she was longer afraid of it but there was no harm in doing, what you really wanted to do. "Thanks for having me." She said politely before she went to sit down again, she could have done it better. She knew that and it bothered her but for now she would just listen and see the others.

Mid-morning was perfect for Ray. He was already up and about and the morning sun usually left him a little tired when he first woke up, but he was ready for this. Having started the year late, he had a lot to catch up on and was jumping at any chance to catch up to his fellow students. This internship seemed so much different than some of the others, and working on investigation would keep him a bit more out of front-line combat. But more than that the investigation side of things was something he never thought about and this was a good chance to see if he had a deeper interest in pursuing it as a career too. If nothing else it would be skills he'd use no matter what path he took, at least that's what he thought.
He made his way to the meeting location. Once inside he saw the training facility designed in a way he had never seen. He took a slower pace to take in what all he would encounter and approached the group of tents and strangers. It seemed that one other student was there already. Someone of course that he hadn't met before. He began to think he should really get out more and talk to people.
Murakami greeted him kindly as he entered and Ray replied with a bow of his head, "Good morning Mr. Murakami." He then walked over and sat next to the only other student there, and gave her a nod."Hey," he began to talk to the other student and looked at her outfit and then to his normal shirt and jacket attire. "Were we supposed to wear uniforms today?"
It wasn't long before the teacher began explaining everything. The teacher was well-spoken and had a calm atmosphere to himself. A shame that he didn't have as much recognition as the flashier heroes, but maybe he preferred it that way. Ray thought it would be a tad annoying to be out there gawked at by the press anyway. When he thanked the volunteers, Ray stood and bowed as well. Finally getting used to the customs here.
Introductions came next and Ray looked over the people the teacher had brought. In particular, he focused on the homeless-looking man that asked about which identity to use. He was as curious about their role her today as their actual one outside of this exercise.
The informant began first and gave a cordial introduction, and then the first student to arrive went which signaled that because he came second he should go second. She introduced herself as a third year. Something that caused Ray to raise an eyebrow, wondering what her history with the school was.
When she sat down Ray stood up next, easing out of his seat, "I'm Ray Haixiao. Second-year transfer student. I want to focus on rescuing people and at my old school we didn't have this class and I think its valuable skills to learn in being a hero in any area. I want to learn to use my wit better. Thanks for the opportunity," It was a rather curt intro and he sat back down.

Luka had never been attracted to the idea of heroics to be noticed. The fame and glory that were promised by such an occupation had nothing to do with his choices to train for the profession. It might seem unusual for heroics students to choose to work alongside a man like The Informant, a relatively unknown hero whose work was so far behind the scenes that there were undoubtedly few who even knew of him. To Luka however, such an individual was a perfect option for an internship, and who knew... maybe an apprenticeship? The small German teen felt that information was power in their line of work, and being a well known figure who stood in the limelight would only hurt his ability to do the job of a hero. If your opponent didn't know you, didn't know what you were capable of, then you had the advantage. Doubly so if you knew your foe's abilities yourself. Secrecy, knowledge, intelligence... these were the things that he thought useful for the sort of hero he hoped to be, and this was why he was glad to work under The Informant.
Arriving at the training room, Luka took in the sights with as critical an eye as he could. He hadn't been expecting so many strangers to be here, and he wondered just what their instructor had planned for today. The layout of tents was also curious, their labelling suggesting a much more practical meeting this time around, though perhaps not one like those given out by the Heroics course on the regular. Greeting their instructor with a quiet good morning, Luka would find himself taking a seat and continuing to look around, examining the newcomers more than the other students as they arrived. The outsiders were a bit more interesting insofar as they were people he'd never seen before and might never see again. The students were different, he knew Rowan of course, and the other students he could get to know easily enough.
Once everyone had piled in the teacher began, and Luka's attention focused primarily on him. He did however keep a casual eye on the others around him to see if he could pick up anything about them. The focus on investigation was certainly an appealing one, Luka liked knowing what was going on around him and working out things, and getting a chance to put those sort of skills into practice would be good. Listening to the introductions, Luka found himself the third student to speak, and stood up with a slight bounce.
"Call me Luka, I'm a Third Year Heroics student like Rowan. I'm not super interested in the publicity and spotlight side of heroics, I just want to do what I can to help people. I believe that knowing more information about your opponent than they do about you is the best way to victory, and that it's important to use more than raw strength as a hero. Being part of Murakami-sensei's students seemed like a no-brainer for me," he said with a cheerful grin, giving the group a shallow bow before sitting down once more and watching the others further. He was sure that there were going to be some interesting answers given here, and he was already starting to think about what they might be doing for this investigative task.

Perhaps the most looked-forward-to element that UA's second year had to offer, the internships had come to pass! Graham was personally quite excited, especially seeing the ones he'd signed up to join. He'd decided to take a step outside his comfort zone, out of the line of direct combat and into the deeper, less commonly known sections in the grand composition of professional heroics. This particular internship - spearheaded by none other than Tobias Murakami, the academy's giant of a librarian - was focused on criminal investigation. It was indeed a less popular craft these days than simply beating thugs to a pulp, though a quick look back through history would be enough to tell it was romanticised all the same. Great novelists of the past two centuries frequently wrote of brooding, intriguing characters using none but their wits to solve mysteries lost to the ages and hunt down criminals of equal cunning.
Though the appeal might be a touch less direct, Graham imagined next to nobody had gone without the fantasy of standing in the shoes of one of fiction's many great problem-solvers. And as per that fantasy, he might as well give it a try in reality. It'd likely encompass far more paperwork than the silver screen could be bothered to depict, although few things didn't.
Well, would reality's answer to the detective comic turn out as interesting as its superhero variant? If the first class they'd all attended had been an indicator, it very much had the potential to, but Graham would need a more practical view of the art to make a proper judgment. Hence why they were here today, gathered within this town of tents. How exactly this all would come into play would surely be explained in a moment, though the concept wasn't difficult to grasp out the gate. Their teacher's firm introduction beckoned no response other than a friendly smile, and Graham simply followed his instruction to take a seat.
Unfortunately, he didn't quite have enough time to strike up a chat with the small-framed, androgynous child seated next to him, as Mr. Murakami spoke back up to take hold of their attention. Introductions were in order before they could properly start, it seemed. One by one, the students sitting in line before him stood up and greeted the group, leading Graham on to follow. He calmly rose from his seat before starting:
"Graham Ashwood, newly minted second-year student, my pleasure to make your acquaintances! As for why I'm here: I developed a brilliant interest in heroics the moment I first learnt of its existence, and would be quite glad to be properly introduced to every aspect of it. That sentiment isn't limited to the more well-known and perhaps punchier parts, of course. Therefore, I'd be honoured to learn whatever might be available to learn in this internship!"
He sat himself back down, content with the content of his introduction. Now, to keep his ears open and listen to the remaining people in the circle. The specifics of just what all of them would be doing here were perhaps what he was most keen to hear, however.

Mizuki's first meeting with Murakami-sensei did not go too bad. She was really enjoying his classes and was excited about the next one. As she made her way down the hallway, her spirit partner Tsuki spoke to her mentally. 'Still not sure what you want to do as far as being a hero?' Mizuki had been at a loss since the start of the new school year as far as which career path to take. 'It's not like I am being lazy or anything,' Mizuki answered her spiritual friend. 'It's just there is a lot more to this than just being in the spotlight for all to see. I really want to be sure these are things I want to do and not because someone told me to do it.'
When she first came to UA, it was about becoming a hero to her father out of being a vigilante. But when he did retire, then what? What was Mizuki really planning to do? She couldn't go out into the real world without a purpose. She needed a reason for doing this. Hopefully, the internships she was taking would help her with that.
Mizuki was dressed in her school uniform with her hero attire held within her bookbag. She wasn't sure if she would need it or not, but it didn't her to be prepared. As she entered the training room, she saw more students and some people she didn't recognize. Murakami-sensei was standing with his clipboard checking off names as students enter into the door. Most of the students she did recognize such as Graham and Ray. The others were new to her.
Murakami-sensei took the floor, thanking the people for taking the time to volunteer for today's lesson. He spoke with a calm and sophisticated tone, his words captivating the attention of everyone in the room. Murakami-sensei had explained what today would be focused on and asked that everyone introduced themselves.
When most of the students were done, Mizuki stood next to and provided her introduction. "My name is Mizuki Haymaker," she said in her usual deadpan voice. It wasn't that she was bored or anything. It was just she was calmer than her brother if people were to compared her to Desmoshi. "I am a second-year here at UA from class 2-A. I am really excited to be here. To be honest I am not sure what I would like to do as a hero or even a reason to become one." She hated being that blunt, but she had to be honest with those who taught her. Giving the teacher a generic answer would be disrespectful and untrustworthy.
"I wanted to learn more about the career paths I could take and the possible choices I could make. Plus, I always found the investigation field to be interesting as it is important for our career as heroes. Without the correct information or coordination, missions would be chaotic and could potentially put others in danger." After her introduction, she took her seat and waited for class to begin.

Yang Yang was surprised. Another one of her internships had accepted her. She now had two. It was exciting. Each internship had its own points. They each gave her an idea of what it would be like to be a Hero. Something she wasn’t sure she wanted to be. It was only months ago that Myrkul her adopted father whirled her into this world hoping it give Yang something to do besides mope around. Because that is all she did after getting her deepest desire. Of course Myrkul had no idea that Yang would really enjoy school life and she even made friends. He was living his life without her right now. He resumed the vigilante life style even though she wasn’t there. It was crazy now that he thought about it.
Any who back to Yang’s life. She had seen most of the students within the first meeting that Mr. Tobias had held. It was lecture about the basics. The lecture was interesting and made Yang wonder if she could ever use her blood quirk differently. After the quirk integrity class with Ms. Red Horn, it had both Yang and Red pondering how to expand the uses of their quirk. It wasn’t long before the lecture was over and Mr. Tobias gave all of the interns specific instructions to meet up again.
Saturday morning in a training class room. However, they were a bit different this time. Tents inside of each room. It was definitely different. Even though Yang should be used to this, she just wasn’t. This school was definitely always attempting to change things up for the students. It was mind boggling at times. For Yang, this is the first time she is actually in a school and not being home schooled by her father. Well er, if one could call it homeschooling. It was his version of what she needed in life.
She saw Mr. Tobias holding open one of the tents for them to walk into. She quietly entered it and saw dozen of individuals. Mr. Tobias must have brought them in for the sake of this activity they are supposed to be doing today. Yang was a bit bewildered. However it wasn’t long before Mr. Tobias spoke and told them to speak among themselves. Yang saw the other interns before. A few she recognized like Luka and Mizuki. She smiled softly and sat next to Mizuki.
However, it wasn’t long before Mr. Tobias spoke again. Yang frowned slightly, she was hoping to have more of a conversation with Mizuki before today’s activities were to begin but sadly she barely had a conversation with her. Mr. Tobias definitely addressed the elephant in the room. Why there were so many people here in this tent. They were all friends and acquaintances of his and they had volunteered for this. He then bowed to them thanking them for taking their time out of their day to do this activity. Today they were going to do an investigation. That would definitely be exciting.
However, before they began Mr. Tobias wanted them to introduce themselves. One of the people Mr. Tobias had inquired which identity they should use. Yang wasn’t sure if that person as joking however Mr. Tobias made it clear to use their real identity. He then wanted them to state name, what year for students, and what brings them here. Oh this was going to be rich. It wasn’t long before each student introduce themselves. Ms. Sakamoto. It was interesting how she introduced herself because she stated that she saw her future working behind the scenes instead of on the front line. The next person that introduce themselves was Mr. Ray. He was a second year student but Yang couldn’t remember if he was in her class or not. However his goal was to focus on rescuing people. It was a noble cause. He was also the one that brought up what they were supposed to wear earlier before they starting introducing themselves.
Yang blinked and wondered if what she wore was too casual? She was wearing her typical outfit. A black loose fitting tee shirt, her belt that holstered her swords, camouflage cargo pants, her quirk regulators, and black boots. She only had her wooden sword with her and made sure Mr. Tobias was somewhat okay with her bringing it. Especially since it made her using her quirk easier. That was a fun conversation in general. She had to let Mr. Tobias know enough about her to understand why she didn’t prefer to talk but could if she wanted to. It all boiled down to trauma. Of course it peaked Mr. Tobias’s interesting but he didn’t press it any further than that.
She sighed and attempted to focus on the next person introducing themselves. It was Luka, she remembered him from the other internship that they are in together. However, this is the first time she really heard his motives of being here. It was surprising. The next person introduce them self. It was Mr. Graham. Another person that had a good reason to be here. Was Yang only here just to be here? She sighed as Mizuki went next. Yang would be next. She could only hope someone would interpret for her. After Mizuki went, it was Yang’s turn. She breathed in and out before standing up.
She started to use sign language as her main way of speaking. "My name is Yang... she didn't far into the introduction before one of the individuals that Mr. Tobias had volunteering got up. "Hold up. Let me tell you what she is saying." She blinked before the person nodded for Yang to continue. As she signed, the person spoke for her as if they were her voice. At least it was less awkward then the other time she introduce herself in an internship. She continued. "I am here because..." she paused for a moment trying to think of why she was actually here. "I am here because I want to learn what it means to become a Hero." she finally signed. She hoped it was enough and looked at the person that spoke on her behalf and nodded to them signalling that she was done and sat down to let Mr. Tobias speak again if the rest of the room didn't introduce themselves.

Feng was musing over various ideas on what version of her suit to wear. After the previous incidents and various hits she took over the months, the suit itself is starting to see its wear and tear. A part of her wants to wonder if she should wear her older outfit but would that look professional if she simply wore a different version of her outfit.. About an hour of thinking as she racked her brain while she was in her room. Several times screaming into her pillow as she thought about this or that. But she eventually decided and put on her usual suit; the damage wasn't bad and it shows she takes the work seriously.
As for why she decided to work under the Informant, it was quite simple. With the ever growing mystery behind her family, the new skills she has gotten and various incidents, she wants to see what happens behind the scenes. She recalled an internship where she saw the hub in which shows how calls go out and that got her curious. That and this line of work is not always going to be explosive action, she will need skills outside of fighting if she wants to make it in the hero work.
She put on her suit and made her way towards the location specified by the Informant. Much of her knowledge is limited since she was the type to follow the more in field heroes but he is someone who will have valuable skills. Her walk was the same but to many others, she looks as if she was late for something. Her training was ever present even on her way to an apprenticeship. As she made her way to the office and was welcomed in, she saw a few familiar faces but looks like she was on her own for the most part.
Murakami-sensei began to lecture as what every hero deos and Feng paid close attention as she noted down any details that stuck to her. The homeless man commenting didn't bother her much but she did take a moment to glance at the other familiar faces. Notably Luka, Graham and Rowan. She kept her pleasantries for later as she needed to pay close attention to the lecture. As it came to close, then came introductions and of course everyone who arrived before her introduced themselves as normal as she waited for her turn. Many would go before and she sat in her seat, tension building. Fights and introductions have very different feelings as she is more open to kicking someone rather than talking. But then again she needs to break that due to the aforementioned usual method causing various issues for her.
As it came around to introduce herself, she simply stood up and said in a very stern and calem voice. “My name is Feng Yao, third year student at UA. My interests are rescue work, villain suppression, and behind the scenes work. I hope to see what skills I develop from this apprenticeship.”, she said as she desperately tried to contain her nervousness. ‘Would you prefer to punch someone in the face then?”, Fei’s voice echoed in her head as she approached the end of her introduction. “Thank you for letting me work here”, she said as she sat down. Pinching herself due to Fei’s voice. It was curt and calm as she wanted.

u.a. is on the case! THE GUEST PRESENT WOULD LISTEN as the students introduced, some silent, some murmuring soft “nice to meet you’s”—there was Rowan Sakamoto, Ray Haixiao, Luka von Eisenburg, Graham Ashwood, Mizuki Haymaker, Yang RosaSangre and Feng Yao. Each offered a polite introduction, some more well-versed than others. And by the end of it, Tobias was wearing the smallest of pleased smiles. He expected nothing less of the finest heroic hopefuls. When it came time for the guests to introduce themselves, their introductions ranged from highfalutin to barely an introduction at all. The scruffiest and most boisterous of the guests spoke first. “Codename, Rat King,” the man announced, “Long-time friend-a Toby’s here. It’s a pleasure.” Tobias’s smile transitioned into something akin to silently and slightly pained. The other introductions were rather uneventful. A red-skinned, horned man introduced himself as, “Khalil Nejem, HOC employee.” The curvaceous, curly-haired woman beside him introduced herself as, “Jun Shinoda, friend of the Informant.” Beside her, a man that was even more robust than Tobias, with flecks of grey in his wavy black hair and five o’ clock shadow (despite it being morning), introduced himself as, “Poseidon, Support Hero.” “Dreamweaver, Support Hero,” was the introduction from a doe-eyed ravenette, whose smile betrayed some mischief. “Poltergeist, Support Hero,” was the final introduction from an androgynous, short-haired youth—who couldn’t have been much older than the students present. “Thank you, all, for joining us,” Tobias said brightly, “Volunteers, if you could please—proceed to your positions? I would be much obliged.”At this, the volunteers dispersed towards seats along the wall or specific pop-up tents around the hall, retrieving clipboards from which they scoured diligently for information. “Alright, you guys—“ Toby whispered, his eagerness, momentarily pushing him into a more casual way of speaking, “Some ground-rules for today’s activity. Firstly, you will be working with a two-hour timer. This may seem like ample time, but once the investigation begins, it will go quickly. I made this decision because you likely would not want to be here all-day—additionally, in the field, cases that are unsolved for a few months will be declared “cold” and subsequently dropped. So there’s a sense of urgency in trying to solve a mystery.”He straightened his back, drawing a clipboard back into view. “That said, if you don’t have enough evidence to prove your case, your case will be dropped. There’s a fine balance one must walk.”“Secondly—you will be working in-teams to solve this mystery before the other groups. Even if investigation does not end-up… “being your thing” professionally, as some might say… you will inevitably need to collaborate with other heroes. And besides, racing other teams creates a spirit of competition.”“So, without further ado—the teams—Sakamoto-san, Haixiao-san, you are Team One. Eisenburg-san, Ashwood-san, and Haymaker-san, Team Two. RosaSangre-san and Yao-San, Team Three. Feel free to devise a plan of attack—when you are ready, I and your supplies will await you at the biggest tent, over yonder.”Tobias would look purposefully at his students, bowing his head to them, before stepping away to the first pop-up tent. It was swathed in what appeared to be bedsheets, or perhaps canvas sheeting, completely obscuring the inside from view. Tobias would stand on one side of the flap, his hands behind his back. On the opposite side of the entrance to the tent, a table with identical, black messenger bags. Within each bag, the following supplies would be contained—Ziploc bags labeled “Evidence” in permanent marker, a single digital camera, a latent print kit (for dusting for fingerprints), an audio recorder, tweezer, and other sundries of items. Atop this all, a single clipboard, with the following written atop a single sheet of paper: On the night of 3 February 2074, dispatch received a call regarding a noise complaint at 10:47 p.m. There were reports of shouting, screaming, and, according to the witness “someone banging around inside of the neighboring house”. An officer was dispatched to the Mustafu home. Upon arrival, the officer entered through the front door, which was unlocked—the house was dark—it was then that the officer found the victim upon the floor. The victim was identified as none other than “Dandu Jerudami” a small-time pro hero popular in the area.
As the victim is a pro hero, your team was assigned his case. Your task is to determine the following: WHO committed the murder? ___________________ Evidence:
WHY did they commit the murder? ______________ Evidence:
HOW did they do it? ________________________ Evidence: It was apparent, by the presence of the empty lines and blank spaces that followed, that the students were meant to complete these prompts as they performed their investigation. Having received their debrief, students were then free to proceed into the tent—and they would be surprised to find the makeshift room fully-furnished to look like a living room, albeit completely disheveled. A lightweight, two-meter bookcase tilted forward against the couch, all of its contents spilled upon the floor. A low table, pushed aside so that the carpet beneath it was bunched, and take-out containers toppled sideways. The television was off-kilter on its stand. A desk seemed relatively devoid of detritus, but was surrounded by white papers on the floor, and to complete the utter appearance of chaos, a ballistic gel dummy lay upon the floor. It would be up to the students to decide how to navigate the ramshackle room—would they look for clues amidst the scenery? Or would they instead focus on Jerudami-san? Alternatively, they could even speak with the officer who responded to the call, or the witness who called it in. How they proceeded was entirely up to them. | quirk: c-rank burn, durability, heat resistance; combat abilities: jujitsu (e), magma sleeves (e), regeneration (d), cinder sprites (f)(summon); etc.: info. sifting (f), problem solving (f), interrogation (f), first aid (e) |

First to arrive and so on. She had been slightly prepared but there were no comments on her school uniform from Murakami-sensei, so she did not have to change. She greeted and went to sit at one of the desks, waiting for the others to arrive. She looked up when the second person arrived and took her attention away from all the people on the opposite of the room that were demanding her attention. "Hey," and she looked at his outfit and hers and shrugged, "I had no idea, so I decided to play it safe. I have my hero outfit with me." It was a Saturday so his outfit sort of just made as much sense as hers as they were at school. So many different opinions and the like, it was difficult to say if there had not been any other information. She wasn't sure what more to say and was wondering if she should introduce herself to the boy next to her. He was obviously not in her year. She could be nice, but soon enough they would have to introduce themselves for everyone, so Rowan decided to just wait and she waved shortly at Feng and Luka when they joined as well. Good to know she wasn't the only third year here.
So she introduced herself and added why she wanted to be here; the interest in strategy and tactics was what had drawn her in here and what she wanted to develop. Now if only Miku would help her set up shop, but that was going to take a while and it wasn't her priority when she was going to work on apprenticeship issues and so on. Good God, she had a lot of work to do before being ready, thankfully she had a whole year to continue. She followed the students and listened to their introduction and turned her attention to the introduction of the volunteers opposite them. She was quite interested in the other support heroes that she did not know too much about but this wasn't the time and place.
Her attention turning back to Tobias as he explained what the plan was. She shortly followed the volunteers who upped and left to their positions before turning her eyes back on the teacher and listening. Two hours? Why did that feel long and short at the same time? So many issues. She wasn't sure what to say and do, forming a team? Well, that was useful and she hoped she would be in a good one. Who was that? She knew the names of Feng and Luka but this must be one of the students she had not met yet. That made it a little difficult. See she should have introduced herself... no wait. She almost gave herself a facepalm, and turned to the boy who was next to her, "That's you right? Haixao-san?" She would hold her hand against her chest saying she was Rowan Sakamoto. Only realizing it might sound belittling as not everyone was an idiot like her for not paying attention and yet she had done so.
Now that they found each other for their team she had to ask, "I never played hem murder mystery games so I have no idea what to do. Do you think a strategy is necessary?" Maybe they could come up with it when they would work on it and see what the situation was. So Rowan would wait for Ray to walk to Tobias and ask for the bag. She quickly scanned through it before walking on in the made-up living room. "Wow."
She looked around quickly and at the body before looking back at Ray. "I think we should examine him first, so we know what to look at?"

After all the introductions it was the guest's turn. One by one they stated who they were. But as they all went one after another, Ray couldn't help but wonder what all they would provide for the case and what role they were actually going to play. Not to mention the 'Rat King' whose name garnered a small flinch in Ray's eyes born of curiosity. A classic murder mystery then, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of regret not having paid more attention to his mother's work in the police force, but what could he do about that now.
He liked the idea of teams and leaned back in his chair as they were announced. conveniently enough his partner was right next to him, and he gave her a quick glance before Tobias finished. Ray arched his neck and rose half out of his seat, to get a glimpse of the stack of bags before he would actually head over. Once Tobias excused himself, he faced Rowan as she spoke. He couldn't hide the small smile at the thought that she had forgotten his name already. "Yeah. But Ray is fine. I just transferred in so I don't know many people yet," he added so incase she felt embarrassed by not remembering his introduction. A little pathway out of the small hiccup as Ray was very new to the school after all he transferred into second-year.
He put his hand to his chin to give her question a few seconds of thought. His eyes darted toward Tobias and the crew of heroes with him. "Me either.Probably won't be able to come up with one till we see the scene. Maybe gather some clues there and then interrogate the others. I'm still not sure what all they will be providing. So yeah...let's wing it," he ended with a shrug as they then made their way over to the tent. Each step made him fill even less prepared but he tried to keep that buried deep.
The bag was full of what he'd expect from a detectives case, "Interesting note huh?" He asked as he scanned the note from the bag and followed behind Rowan into the room. Her exclamation took his attention from reading and into the surrounding mess of the room. "They really did a number on this place," he mentioned haphazardly and walked beside her. "Agreed. No better place to start than the source," he nodded and walked over with her. All the while he scanned the area and took note of the take out boxes.
"The note had some clues in it they may help for later. The door was unlocked so it may have been someone the man knew. let them in and then things got out of hand. It was pretty late too. Maybe unannounced or urgent business," he brainstormed aloud until they reached the body.

Mizuki had never taken part in a murder mystery, fake or real. This would be a good time to sharpen up her investigation skills and get feel for what it was like to work these types of missions. Tobias-sensei finished his mission briefing and introduction handing them items that would need for the investigation. Mizuki always wondered why investigators on TV needed so many items and now she knew why. From notebooks to crime scene markers, Tobias-sensei left no expense on how the investigation should properly work. After Tobias-sensei announced the teams, Mizuki went over to Luka. "Looks like it's you and me," said Mizuki in a deadpan tone. In truth, she was kind of happy to be on a team. It provided a look at things from two different angles.
When Mizuki got to the tent where the "murder" took place, she took a look around. To say the room was in complete chaos was an understatement. It seemed that both the victim and the suspect struggled for a bit. Maybe the killer wanted something and couldn't get or find what he was looking for. Or maybe this was a brawl that went wrong. One couldn't say for sure until they found more clues.
"Maybe we should take a look at the desk," Mizuki suggested to Luka. "Maybe the killer was looking for something and it provides a clue to just what. Or we can take a look at the ballistic round on the floor," she added pointing at the dummy round on the floor. "Maybe it can tell us what type of weapon was used or provide us some fingerprints. Your call."

Luka wasn't super familiar with this aspect of law enforcement, but he could be fairly logical when the situation called for it, so he hoped he'd have a good grasp on what to do. He listened quietly to the introduction of the non-U.A. adults, as well as the briefing they were given, before turning his attention to the girl that he'd be working with in today's session. They had two hours to solve a crime, utilising whatever they had around them and whomever they currently had access to, that would require a certain set of skills and a specific type of thinking, which he was hoping he either had or would learn at least a little of in this session.
Nodding slightly to his assigned partner on the case as they both walked in to the site of the 'murder', Luka examined the surroundings first, trying to figure out just what might have occurred that lead to the shooting. "If we consider the briefing, the timeline of the events indicates that there was a verbal altercation before a physical one, there was either some sort of struggle prior to the murder, or the killer was looking for something and turned the place upside down looking for it after they shot the victim," he mused quietly as he took out the camera and took a quick snapshot of the room before there was any disturbing it. Another picture of the body just so he could be sure that he knew what it had looked like in its original position. "We won't find fingerprints on the bullet, but we might get an idea of the weapon used. If we can find gunpowder residue then we could possibly find out where the shot was fired..." he trailed off for a few moments, his thoughts twisting around themselves as he tried to think.
The door was unlocked, did the victim let the killer in? Did he leave the door unlocked normally? Did the killer have a quirk that let them open doors? Or was there a point of break in and the unlocked door was simply the killer leaving the fastest way? The shouting and screaming, could they have known one another? Or was it the very reasonable reaction of yelling at someone who broke into your home? Was the banging due to a physical confrontation, or the killer throwing things around in the search for something. Really, the only thing they knew was that a man was dead and the killer had used a firearm to kill him. Non-offensive quirk? Quirkless? Hiding the quirk by using a gun? Impossible to be sure yet. So many questions, and a distinct possibility of him over thinking things. Really the only way to narrow things down to begin with was to see if this was a crime of passion, or one with a specific goal. Was the murder intended, or accidental? What was the real target of this whole affair? Once they had a good idea on that, then they could try and find out more by examining the details with this in mind.
"Let's search the room for anything first, Jerudami-san isn't going anywhere and I think we need to know the 'why' of this crime before we can figure out the who. Either the killer wanted something that he had, or they wanted something to do with him. They might have come here to kill him, or it could have been a secondary crime. It also could have been unintentional, they may have broken in and not expected him to be home, or they might have argued with him and gotten over emotional... right now we have too many maybes, and I think a closer look of the room itself will help us eliminate some of them. It might be best if you take the camera and use it though..." here he handed the digital camera to Mizuki, "I don't leave fingerprints, so I'll handle any evidence that needs to be picked up with hands. You take a picture before I touch anything though, so we have as untainted a record as possible, ok?" He kept his voice low, wanting to ensure that only Mizuki knew what he was saying. He didn't know if this was technically a competition, but his experience said that it probably would be. Therefore, it was best to keep the other groups from gaining too much from his thoughts.
Luka waited for the other student's response before he'd begin the investigation, exploring the room alongside his partner in search for anything of interest, looking for possible break-in entries, examining the papers on the ground, and generally trying to get a good picture of what happened leading up to the 'murder' of the victim. Questioning witnesses could come later, inspecting the body could come later, the faux-body wasn't going to get any deader, but evidence in the room could get contaminated, moved, or generally destroyed. Plus he'd rather know what had happened before going any further, so that he could base his questions around a more informed understanding of the crime.
Hopefully he wasn't overthinking things.

Yang
Yang sat as she heard some of the people Mr. Murakami invited introductions. It made her ponder about a hero name er well an alias. But wasn't her alias already Yang? She knew deep down what her real name was and she hated that name. It reminded her of everything she lost and the painful past that she wanted to escape ever so desperately. She sighed to look forward to the future, she needed to past her things that's already happened eventually. Until then she will continue attempting to go down this path she was literally forced on. But of course she didn't have to continue it. So exactly why was she here again? She sighed.
Become a hero, fight for those who can't fight for themselves right? But couldn't she do that as vigilante? Oh right, it was illegal. For her not to lurk in the darkness, this was her only option. But she was only doing this because her father insisted that she doesn't walk down the dark path. She couldn't understand why since they've been doing it for so long. But that was a question she would have to ask him later.
Yang's attention was caught when Mr. Murkamai stated that they would be in pairs. She was secretly hoping he would pair her and Mizuki together. She wanted to be in a group with her. Yang flushed a bit at the thought but it didn't last long as soon as she heard Mizuki get paired with someone else. That would mean Yang was also paired with someone else. He said her name was Yao-san. Yang had to rack her brain around for a moment trying to remember who that was exactly. She should have been paying attention to the introductions closer instead of thinking about her goals as a hero.
It wasn't long before she remembered who. Mr. Murkamai was talking about, her name was Feng Yao. She seemed quiet. It got Yang a bit curious and she pondered if she could have another potential friend. But of course that would mean she would have to be comfortable enough to speak with her. Yang sighed. Of course she had to be a mute. Of course she had mental issues that made life so much more difficult for her. Luckily Mr. Murakami was well prepared for this scenario.
He had supplies. Yang looked over the supplies. There was a table with identical, black messenger bags. Inside of in each bag contained the following: a single digital camera, a latent print kit, an audio recorder, tweezers, and other sundries of items. Atop this all, a single clipboard with the following. Written atop a single sheet of paper:
On the night of 3 February 2074, dispatch received a call regarding a noise complaint at 10:47 p.m.
Evidence? Why did they commit the murder? Evidence? How did they do it? Evidence?
Yang blinked was this something that Heroes did? She thought it would just be saving people from disasters? Stopping villains from destroying everything. Not solving murders. She wasn't sure how to approach this. It was hard enough that there could be a language barrier between Yang and Feng or well the lack of language really. Yang was fortunate someone translated her sign language but she couldn't keep expecting them to do it for her. They weren't here for that. They were invited guests for Mr. Murakami.
She sighed and thought about what Myrkul would do? Her life as vigilante was very interesting. Myrkul would only pick up jobs that wanted the person alive or dead. They would capture the person alive but what happened behind closed doors Yang still didn't know. Myrkul took those jobs because the wanted person wouldn't be missed if they died and they would still be rewarded. Being a vigilante was so risky and they didn't really wear masks or have secret identities. Luckily Yang never really pried into it. She didn't want to know what happened to the people that was captured by them. Even though the truth was there. It was painfully there. Something she will have to address if she were to continued this path of basking in the light. But for right now that wasn't the task. The current task was to solve this murder.
She went over the scenario again and looked at her evidence. There was a recorder and a camera? Most likely the camera took pictures of the crime scene but the recorder was interesting. What was on it? It probably would be best if she looked into both. Before she did, she read the scenario again. The recorder must have had the phone call on it. There was also witnesses that complained about the noise. Could have the recording captured it? She listened to the recording and jotted down notes on a tiny note pad she brought just in case she needed it. She then looked through the camera at the pictures that were taken and made notes with that.
When she was done, she sighed and remembered she was paired with someone. She shyly walked over to Feng with the evidence. It wasn't like Yang was purposely was trying to exclude Feng. But at the same time it wasn't like Yang could just walk up and talk to her like a normal person. She flipped the page on her note pad and wrote something for Ms. Feng to read. It simply stated: 'Hi my name is Yang. I am mute. Apparently we are working together. I had taken advantage of getting the supplies and making some notes.'

Feng got the run down from Tobias as everything was explained to her, all the introductions of the other pros at the helm, and what was expected of them. Nothing too difficult as she recalled her uncle talking about procedure when she was a kid a while back and how these things were approached. It was an odd topic to discuss within earshot of an elementary school kid but it was going to come in handy now. Everything went as it went like any other anything else as they discussed and explained everything about this internship.
She heard and beat it into her head about what was needed in order to ‘pass’ the evaluation here as she would make mental notes to herself. Around that time is when groups were being announced and she was paired with Yang, a new face to her which she can deal with. As their mentor stepped away, the stage was set as she could see various things already set about. The crime scene and the problem they must solve with ample evidence. The grim scenery aside, this will play out like any game of eye spy or a science project as most of it relies on observation and comprehension of how events work. Though what surprised her was their choice of victim being a pro hero….maybe something to prepare them for the far future she thinks. Her trained eyes can notice a few things right away but she can keep that until she is given the OK to start going crazy.
Feng made sure to go over the known information as she uses her eyes to scan the area to catch any arid details that stand out. Recordings are useful but physical evidence and providing a proper explanation is even better as it gives context to the entire ordeal. Why was this small time hero killed? Popularity can be a factor but for a small area, it seems like a petty crime if that was the case. Maybe it was a personal grudge that involved the two...maybe it was money or perhaps it was all to satisfy their jealous soul?Hm. Whatever the case, she needed to get a closer look at the entire area before she could make any proper deductions. An environment can tell alot about an event from a few stray objects.
But as much as she has trained vision, she was only one girl as she had her partner who was possibly doing the same and not being as talkative or perhaps she was shy. But right on cue she realized that her partner is mute and this made talking impossible. Good to know at least but she read the message and did her best to explain her thoughts.”My name is Feng and likewise, I’ll look around and see what I can find and we can compare notes after about...five minutes” she replied to her partner as she quickly walked to the crime scene and began examining the surrounding area. Checking for any discarded weapons, the type of blood splatter, any objects that can explain what happened, etc. Her eyes glowed as she searched the area as she made mental notes of a few details she noticed while looking around.
