She listened as their mentor for the day explained how things would go. It was a course to complete as expected and the possum hero vaguely outlined the path they were supposed to take. It was interesting that they were doing this in an environment fairly different from the usual, but otherwise it was pretty similar in nature to the type of practice she would normally do. In this particular case the restricton of not touching the ground at all wasn't really much of a challenge to her as she could fly while barely think about it. It was something developed a while ago after a certain upperclassman told her that she was being too conscious and deliberate with some of her movements. Nowadays if she felt like it, she could take a nap while floating in place. But of course she still wanted to make the most out of this. She may have had the flying part down pat but there were other things she could try to improve on while taking this course. She adjusted the support items on her wrists as Perry went on with his explanation. In a way she was probably handicapping herself again, but with the approach she had in mind, she could get some much needed practice with her support equipment. Her debut with them in the Sports Fest was still fresh in her thoughts and while they somewhat worked out she was sure it could be better. Today she was going to see how far she had come since then. "No questions here sensei~"At first she was expecting Honey to go ahead and start off with the exercise but it was Kumoko instead who would take the challenge on before anyone else. And her classmate was really eager too. For being the only one among them who didn't really fly the spider girl was doing pretty well. The fruits of their hardwork were showing with their web swinging and Karen couldn't help but nod in approval. Perhaps it was a good idea that Kumoko decided to go first as if either Karen or Honey did, the both of them could actually fly and would have gone about this course a lot differently. In this case their swinging friend would be free from any bias and could execute the navigation of the course in her own way. There was an audible thud as Kumoko crashed into a tree right before finishing up but thankfully her classmate managed to avoid actually falling down to ground. In the end all the targets were hit so it was still a resounding success. "Nicely done Kumoko-kun~ Are you alright though? That looked like it hurt."She would say as she walked over to her classmate while bringing the first aid kit. Well, the spider girl was made of sturdy stuff so she was probably fine. But they still ought to properly clean any small cuts and scratches. Can't be too careful as they were outdoors. "You can go next Honey-kun~ I'm just going to help patch up Kumoko-kun over here."To be fair Honey was probably better at this, but she didn't want to look like she wasn't doing anything useful. She could at least spray with a disinfectant and apply band aids.

He couldn't help but snicker at Kumoko's valiant attempt even if a lightly shoty ending. He offered he a small clap and was willing to break out a small first aid kit in the back of his truck if needed. "That was quite the attempt, pleased to see you've been keeping up with your training. That type of movement to have well trained can come in handy when a bunch of villains or criminals are trying to grab you or tossing who knows what your way." He'd say in a small few moments smiling at her and offing a thumbs up of his approval at her attempting seemingly over all pleased with her efforts. Perry briefly pulled a small notepad from out of the back of his truck and scribbled something down as well. Perhaps grading nots for later. "I have some water as well if you feel you need it in the cooler I had the food in." He'd say offering it to those that would want it after running his little starter course to this training day.
"Thank you for caring for her Karen, That's rather nice of you." He'd say with a warm and kind voice pleased to see them working together so well and kind spirited. For now though he'd soon turn to Honey next. Eyeing her up for a moment as the smallest of the pack of sorts. But Perry was not the type to judge things simply for coming in a small package. Himself being one of the smaller heroes out there after all. He'd spend a few minutes after wondering out into the woods allowing her to prep more resetting a few of the spots that would need manual resetting. Some others could be done via remote so the act of resetting the course was a rather easy one if not a bit trifled.
"Well Honey! When you're ready tell me and I'll start the timer to see how you do." He'd say checking a small stop watch and holding his notepad again ready to watch where he stood and see just how well the little flying squirrel could handle his course. He wasn't fully sure what to expect all in all but he did have faith in her. He always liked to see the small one or the under dog rise up after all. Who didn't really though. He smiled warmly and would allow her to decide when it was time to begin and fly off.

She wanted to run to Kumoko and ask if she needed any help but she managed to stay put. Which was actually really impressive if you knew how bouncy the girl was but she managed and Karen was first and she bit her lip to not pout. But she was the support student, this was her job right? But she did not do anything and nodded at Karen and turned to Perry, okay... she could go first? She was worried about the same thing as Kumoko just showed her, staying airborne for long. But didn't Hachi-sensei teach her that she should make an ideal situation out of something bad? Or at least that is how she saw it when it came to trying to fix how she landed. Now, this would be for the best. She would have to start her flight course but she was more of a hovering person that would mean she would have to do better and would find ways to stay airborne. But most of all, a small smile appeared on her face, she was a squirrel.
She made sure the stick of her hero outfit was correct, she would be ready to hover, "I am ready." She finally said to Perry when everything was prepared and instead of slinging some sticky stuff to the tree, she ran towards it, and climbed up as quickly as she could, grabbed the first target and jumped off the branch, she would manage to get two more targets before she would lower because of her hovering being done and she grabbed on to a tree branch and ran up again to jump down. Surely it cost her a bit of time, but she was speedy and agile so not that much and it would mean she would hover longer, being able to use the current of the wind that went through the trees as well as using the trees to go around and grab the targets before letting herself lower and make a summersault when she arrived at the ending. She jumped up and checked the targets in her hands, she wasn't sure if she had all and if she missed one when she was running up the trees... She counted twenty-nine... that meant she missed one. She felt rather disappointed she would have thought she had paid close enough attention to notice what was where and that she would grab them all. She should not dwell too much on it, she stayed in the air after thinking about a solution, it was a start?

Oww, that's gonna hurt for a while... Kumoko quickly passed her hand to the front of her face to see if she was bleeding. Fortunately, the damage was not very severe. Just a few droplets of blue blood. Nothing too bad. Why am I so notoriously clumsy? She then heard Karen ask if she was alright. "I'll be fine. It's not that bad." The worst damage that faceplant did was to whatever semblance of pride the spider girl had. But in terms of physical injury, she had definitely been through far worse before. Still, she very much appreciated Karen's offer to help treat her injury. "Thank you so much."
As she stood still to let Karen do her thing, Kumoko listened to Paw Might's words, smiling as she did so. Yay, I didn't screw up like I usually do! However, Kumoko knew better than to actually say that aloud. So she simply bowed her head a bit. "Thank you, Paw Might-sensei!" All those weeks of training, getting to put what she had learned to practice, and being praised for her skills. It felt so good. Kumoko smiled cheerfully. Maybe someday she could learn to not make as many mistakes, or at least not be so hard on herself when she did. Until then, all Kumoko could do was keep training, keep striving to get better, and keep rising back up whenever she went down.
Deciding to wait till later to get some water, Kumoko eagerly awaited for the others to get started. No doubt the two girls would be far better at the course. At least neither were notoriously clumsy like she was. It seemed like Honey would be the next to go. Kumoko watched, mentally cheering on her best friend (though refraining from doing so aloud, as that would probably be more embarrassing than encouraging) as she made her attempt. Well it was no surprise that the squirrel girl would show an impressive display of speed and agility. Hovering from tree to tree like an actual flying squirrel, it was truly a sight to behold!
Kumoko felt sad at seeing that Honey missed just one target. Awww, so close. But that was alright. For just one single attempt, Honey still performed very admirably. So after it was done, the spider girl clapped and applauded. "That was awesome, Honey! Well done!" And with two down, there was just one more to go. Kumoko looked forward to seeing how Karen would do.

If her classmate said they were fine then she wouldn't make a big fuss. Although it almost sounded like Kumoko was used to this. That wasn't really good for separate reasons. Anyway their teacher had gone to reset the course and in just a few minutes it was finally Honey's turn to have a go at it. If she had to say, the squirrel girl was definitely a lot better than her at tree climbing. Her quirk trivializing a lot of challenges in mobility didn't mean she was a slouch with her practical physical abilities. After all, given how society is like, you really wouldn't be using your quirk more times than you would. So it was a good idea not to overly rely on it. That said, there was just no competing with a squirrel in terms of climbing. Honey was quite agile and mobile in a different way than she was and it was impressive in their own right. Unlike Kumoko, Honey could actually fly, or rather glide. Alternating between climbing, jumping, and gliding was pretty cool to see. As far as what her eyes could follow, her fellow intern was doing quite well. When the squirrel girl reached the end of the course, they would go on to review the results. She was slightly surprised that Honey was only counting after it was already done. Wouldn't it have made more sense to count while going through it? Anyway it seemed like one was missing, which was unfortunate. "It was a good run Honey-kun. You were moving much better compared to the Festival. I think your training is paying off."For some reason she was always glad to see fellow schoolmates improving. Growth was good and people doing well meant there was more interesting competition. Friendly of course. Her two friends were making great strides is becoming worthwhile rivals. In any case, it didn't seem like Honey was injured in their attempt so she could focus on making her own preparations for her turn. When the course was finally reset, Karen herself had just finished changing into her hero outfit and was making some final adjustments to her support gear. The key thing was getting used to the range. There were plenty of obstacles in a forested area so she had to make sure she could actually hit things as backtracking around trees and such would definitely cost her time. It would go without saying that despite the restriction she was putting on herself, she still aimed to finish in under three minutes if possible. When the signal was given, she would take off from the ground like it was second nature to her. Nothing flashy like her friends. She would simply fly up and begin. It was then that they would finally see what she was thinking of doing. While Kumoko used webs to swing around, Karen used her lines to grab targets instead. The first couple of targets that came up, she would aim both her line launchers at once, snag them and then reel them back in to her hands. Keeping off the ground was the easy part. Her accuracy with her lines however was no more than five or seven meters. It was certainly sufficient for this course, but the trees and branches in the way meant that she had to make a lot of split second decisions with how to aim and snag a flag due to their odd placements. Once or twice, her first shot would bounce off a branch in the way and she would quickly need to shoot a second line to try again. On other occasions, there just wasn't enough time to reel the whole thing back in so she would pull it back with a whip-like motion and catch the flag in midair. Anyway it was pretty obvious that she was intending to go through the whole course like this without directly grabbing the flags with her hands. And the result? Well, she was aiming to clear it faster than the previous two, but by the end of her run, she wasn't really that sure. She was counting flags while collecting them. It would be a bit too much to ask for her to count the time as well. But she at least didn't miss anything. From watching the previous two go through the course, she felt she had a better idea of the flags' locations and the best ways to snag them. At no time during the course was she in danger of touching the ground as she weaved around the trees rather easily. Really she wouldn't fall unless she turned her quirk off. But the actual execution with her lines could have been smoother. There were a few catches that she was proud off, but there were also a couple that she had to fly to catch thanks to the trees being in the way if the flags' trajectories. She took a deep breath as she arrived at the finish line and waited for Perry's comments on the final results.

Perry seemed to take several notes briefly nodding as he observed and noted down a few things on his little pad of paper. Honey had went next and even with her miss and timing he seemed relatively pleased when she landed at the end. Seemingly impressed as well scribbling down a score and saving his papers for later. "Ha! Lovely indeed, Quite the display that was. I always love seeing how you young joeys adapt and use your quirks. You and that little flight suit of yours sure do work wonders! You might have hope in this hero thing for sure!" He said praising her slightly with that warm welcoming grin on his little fuzzy face. After all one like him who found ways for flight even when flight did not come naturally could appreciate the makeshift ways these students cultivated flight for themselves as well. It was a splendid display to say the least for the little fuzzy teacher.
He would whistle lightly as well when Karen finished grabbing all the targets and nearly over taking the others fully in speed as well. He seemed impressed tapping the pencil lightly on the paper before scribbling down more of his notes. "You three really are quite skilled... I'll admit I didn't expect you all to do as well as you did... Not that I expected bad things." He said chuckling lightly. "It seems my pickings were well decided. This should make the more difficult parts rather fun!" He said snickering as he was rather looking forward to what was to come next. Offering the two girls who just went some water like he had Kumoko a short time prior he would quickly skitter away shortly after. Snuffing the remainder of the fire if any quickly and cleanly and was quickly upon his plane moments after.
He tinkered with a few things quickly holding tiny tools that had to either have been custom ordered or hand made given they worked perfectly for someone of his size and what would be needed for his small bi-plane that by now they had all likely seen flying around campus once or twice. He would seem to be tuning the old Red Baron Jr. up briefly as he spoke while doing so his eyes on the engine block through a little opening panel at the side of the front half of the plane.
"I'll admit hoomans I'm a little excited for this next part! You're gonna need all your wits! After all stationary targets are one thing! But now are you ready for a real chase?" He said snickering. Wrapping several flags around his tail of his plane. "You're gonna have to catch me this time." He said snickering allowing that to sink in as the famous little plane was preparing itself. He was curious to say the least to see how they'd react to the news. He wondered if they'd be surprised and hoped they'd be excited as well for this challenge. After all not only could it be a good bit of fun but it also would be great practice for him as well. The better he became with his plane the better he could avoid villains in future missions.

She would have to catch her breath shortly, the agile movement through the trees, the climbing, sprinting and dropping herself back in the air to catch the little flags had been tiring to say the least but it had worked none the less. she was rather okay with how she did but really bumped out she missed a target. She swore she had counted right but apparently she had not, she wondered where she missed it, but that wasn't the question for now, she just let it be. "Ah thank you Ho- Karen-san." She almost spoke to Karen with her surname again but managed to adapt rather quickly, maybe not quick enough. She felt flattered by the compliments and even if she was still far away from reaching what she wanted to reach, she was rather proud she had managed to do this. Now she should only overcome her fear of the scary stuff... that would be very helpful in whatever next event they would hold as well. She would follow Karen with her eyes when it was her turn, which was well very different and impressive to say the least. She could learn from that as well and she would turn to Perry-sensei to see what he would explain and tell to Karen.
But apparently that wasn't all for today as he was going to give them another exciting little adventure. Or well that is how it sounded and Honey took a sip of her water bottle and watched what he was doing. Stationary targets indeed... but a chase?! She wasn't sure if she was able to keep up if she did not have stuff to jump on when she was done gliding but well she knew how to land and jump up again thanks to Yellowjacket's internship. It should be fine in the end. She nodded and waited to see how they would start. "Okay." There wasn't much for Honey to say as she was immediately thinking about how to tackle her problem and make it a solution. This could be rather useful and she was definitely going to learn a lot from it again! She would be ready, skipping about until they really had to focus, this was going to be fun for sure! She did not doubt that at all, today was a good day to be Honey Hirano and she was going to make use of that.

With two of the three girls done with their course, it was time to see the third give her best shot. Kumoko was looking forward to seeing how Karen would do. The spider girl did alright in her opinion, and Honey performed admirably. In Kumoko's mind, there was really no doubt that the girl would do well. Really, the only question would be how well. With all six of her eyes eagerly glued to the action, Kumoko was ready to watch the spectacle.
There was really never any doubt. Karen could fly, and she had shown off her skills back in the Sports Festival. Some time had passed since then, so it only made sense that there would be plenty of improvements in movement. Kumoko was intrigued by the way the girl used her lines to pick up the flags without actually reaching for them herself. Aww, I can't believe I didn't think of that! Kumoko felt like facepalming. With her webs and the gauntlets that let her fire them from her hands, it would have been a cinch to grab things with her sticky webs. Oh well, at least this information would be helpful for the future. The spider girl was already thinking of ideas for gadgets. She would need to thank Karen later for the inspiration.
So now all three girls were finished, and they all were successful. But what would come next? Of course, Paw Might had the answer to that. Kumoko's eyes widened as she listened to the possum hero's words on what would happen next. Ooh, a chase? It made sense. Stationary targets were one thing, but moving ones would not be nearly as simple to deal with. And their target would be Paw Might himself! In all honesty, Kumoko wasn't nervous at all. She felt excited. She could not wait to give this a shot!
There was one question on her mind, however. would the three girls have to attempt to catch Paw Might separately, just like with the flags? Or would they be allowed to work together this time? Kumoko figured that that question would be answered soon. Still, she looked forward to seeing how Honey and Karen would do this time. No doubt they would perform fantastically. Those two were great, after all. Unlike me. I'm average at best. But no time for those kinds of thoughts now! Kumoko eagerly awaited Paw Might's instructions. She looked forward to getting started.

There weren't many individual comments so she wondered if this was more of a practice run or evaluation for the real thing. Perhaps she was just expecting a bit much. The goal for the exercise was flying skill after all and she turned it into her own practice. Anyway she accepted the water gratefully and then listened to the rest of what their teacher had to say. It seemed he really was already of the belief that this was a course all three of them could complete without much problems. The mention of more difficult things to come made her feel a bit more excited. He started making some tune ups to his plane while talking about the next part of their activities. To put it simply, they would be chasing after and trying to catch the possum hero next. One of her goals for signing up for different internships was getting to see up close how other flying heroes flew around. So being told that they now had to chase him meant she was getting her chance, not just to fly alongside him, but do so while he would presumably be doing his best to evade them. Now this was something worth evaluating her skills against. "That does sound exciting! Any rules for this chase sensei?"While a large part of her wanted to take turns at this solo, it was more likely going to be a team effort. Well, Kumoko and Honey were as good a team as she could ask for so there weren't really any issues there. The possum being a small target in a forest area also gave him quite an advantage so perhaps it was better to do this together. The terms of the chase would determine how she would approach this strategically so she waited patiently for Perry to elaborate.

He listened to them as he skittered over cranking up the plane's propeller the plane was sputtering a bit and he seemed to tinker a bit here and there with a few parts as a metal clank of him making sure all things were working properly and it was up to snuff one might say. In mere moments the old girl seemed to be up to snuff and the engine warming up as the blade spun around at increasing speed purring like the amazing machine Perry had spent countless hours pouring time into to make run just right as one of his passion pet projects.
"I'm gonna be tying a ribbon to my tail fin! It's up to you one of you to catch up to me an manage to snatch it. You'll be working together as well to try and get it as I fly around near the tree line sometimes going higher. It should be a challenge but a fun one... Honestly I've been looking forward to it to be honest heheheh." He said rubbing a small finger scratching his chin. Rather proud of this idea of a task and test. He'd been excited for it all day ready to give the Red Baron Jr a run for her money and the students pushed to their top speeds. "What do you all think! Sound like fun?!"

It was always good to have someone like Karen around because else Honey was sure she would have missed the details and forget to ask about shit that she should have asked, only then instructions would come and she would understand the task at hand. So they were going to have a chase, but instead of being an individual that would have to fix it, they were now tagging along as a team. That was interesting, they worked all very differently which made it better probably. "Yes, sensei. Sounds like fun!" She was enthusiastic, also trying to think how she could have lost count, well with one ribbon it was hard to miss of course. There was not much to say about this and they woul dhave to wait for Perry to go and fly and for them to chase after it. She would again take the high road by running up to a tree and try to get into the air that way, it was better and higher already to try to use the boosters then just jumping. She really needed to think of how to find a solution in city centres for that where the trees would be far and wide. Hm, might be something to look into when it came to fixing her hero outfit.
Right now it did not matter, they would go on a chase, Kumoko and Honey both needed the trees, Karen was probably the best suited for this but maybe Kumoko could sling her up with her webs, hm, she had to really work and become better, especially if she wanted to really win by herself this sports festival, she did not know how to talk to Yasashi but well it was not necessary at this point. Okay let's do this and focus, the goal was in sight and no need to count!

Kumoko listened as Perry explained the details of the next challenge. The girls would all work together to try and snatch the ribbon tied to the tail fin of the possum hero's plane. Sounded pretty straightforward. Not necessarily easy by any means, but the task was simple to understand. Plus, it did sound like it would be a fun time. Kumoko smiled cheerfully. "Definitely, Paw Might-sensei! I'm looking forward to this!" There was no need to worry about failing this one. With Honey and Karen as her teammates, it was not a question of if, but when this challenge would be completed.
Speaking of the challenge, Kumoko was already thinking a lot of things to herself. Possible strategies the spider-headed girl might be able to incorporate. Ways she could use her arachnid abilities to assist Karen and Honey. There were also several questions the girl had in mind. Would there be a time limit? Other obstacles to worry about, maybe? Perhaps Paw Might would go further into detail regarding the rules of this challenge. But maybe there might be some things that would be kept a surprise. One could never be too careful, after all. It was best to try and be ready for anything.
"Hey, we can do this." Kumoko smiled as she spoke to her teammates. "I believe in both of you. Let's do our best!" And with those words of encouragement said, all that was left to do was either wait for Perry to finish his explanation on the challenge, or if there was nothing else to be said, get ready for the fun to start.
