The teams had been decided although Ray couldn't help but wonder where the rest of the class was. He would be lying if he didn't think it was beneficial and let out a small grin. The fewer students meant more focused attention. With that thought, the smile faded...because it also meant less slacking off on the things he didn't care about. One thing was for certain though. He watched the wringing out that Keiko gave the class president and his body twisted away from it in pain for him. He was glad he didn't have that responsibility.
It was Keiko's sudden yell for them to get going that snapped the water quirk user out of it. "Oh, time to hit it. let's go!" he said as he shook off the rust and dashed forward into the first floor his jacket was unfastened and flowing behind him. It was always these moments that he wondered if he should wear something more sporty but he always had his trusted and dirty running shows.
Danica was darting forward with him into the urban landscape. Seven minutes was going to tic by fast and they had an immense amount of work ahead of them. The first floor was a wreck with debris scouring the ground and buildings towering around them ready to collapse at any moment. The cement monuments threatened to conceal hidden threats.
His feet skidded on the dirt and grim of the ground, leaving a small trail behind and coming to a stop to quickly access the surroundings. It was only for a split second, to gain his bearing and not run into a trap. Suddenly the building next to them burst apart like it was hit with an explosive. The walls came tumbling down next to them with smaller bits of debris raining down upon them. Ray shot his hand into the air and a dome of water sprang forth enveloping them. The debris smacked against it like hailstones and splashed off.
It kept training down and the shield wouldn't hold forever. "You alright?" He quickly asked and then rose his other hand and swiped it to the right to create a small doorway in the dome for her to make an exit.
Once she was out of the water dome, Ray would dive roll out and let the water collapse to the ground with a light splash, living a puddle behind. They would press on but the threats were vigilant. Although with the teacher's quirk he felt like he could go on way longer than normal.
Before they could move too far forward a few guns rose out of the ground and fired explosive pellets. Ray Stepped forward and cast a water shield in front of them and let it trail out a few meters on Danica's side. The pellets hit the water wall which was like thin concrete. "Can you get to them?" he asked. This is what he was meant for. To be a shield to someone else's sword. He could hold the pellets off for a little while. maybe long enough for her to get to them and take them down.

Danica stood with her arms crossed as she watched Ray move towards her, he was a new kid too, and that was enough of a reason for him. The fact that only four of them had bothered to show up didn’t make for a very good selection, and before Danica could turn Ray down for the far more muscular guy behind them a bit, it seemed like things were decided for them. As Aquitaine started to chew out the muscular kid, Danica looked at Ray and sighed heavily “ i guess that will do” she said before she placed her hand on the handle of her wooden blade “ but don’t slow us down or ill personally hold it against you” she spit out wit ha scowl, still a bit salty about the lack of choices. Now it was going to be tougher to showcase herself, she would need to work with this kid, who looked like he couldn’t take a hit from a paper ball let alone the challenges that laid before them.
Once they were signaled to start Danica would dash into the area, keeping pace with Ray as she moved quickly but not too quick as to not spot traps or hazards. She felt like she was a huge disadvantage with how things worked out, she was new, and so was Ray, and neither of them had seen these alpha grounds, let alone what type of traps were likely around. Danica would draw out her bokken as the explosion blew out the side of the building near them. Ray immediately created a dome of water. A gesture she was both not happy about but also somewhat glad had happened. She was not helpless and she didn’t like feeling that way. As she casted a glare at him and yelled in response“ don’t stop, keep moving” she swung her blunted wooden blade across as the water opened up to allow her escape, he had cost them valuable seconds, by stopping to shield them. “ this way” she would say as she swiped the blade at a chunk of concreate that rained down near her, casting it aside with the strike.
As they started to rush down an alley way, Ray wasn’t too far behind her as turrets seemed to spring from the ground in front of them. Danica’s eyes narrowed as she took lead, running now full tilt she suddenly exploded into a black mist as the pellets past through her and towards Ray. Danica would reformed on top of the turret mid strike as Ray asked her to deal with them. She brought the blunted blade down on the barrel of the gun bending them with the force before shooting a look at Ray, one that might suggest her frustration with him asking questions “ this way” she would call out as she pushed her way down the alley a little further glancing back to make sure that Ray was still on her tail.
Her bokken held out at her side as she ran, as they reached an intersection, she would take a quick second to look around, pointing out a open door of a building. “this way” she would instruct again, running full tilt into the street cutting diagonally across the intersection. As pellets were shot at them from various windows. Her blade swung out as she knocked away a few pellets, but changed her run from a dash to a zigzag. “ evasion, not blocking” she managed to yell out for Ray, hopefully he would still be following her as she pushed into the open door of the building.
She knew she needed to get up top. They needed to make it to the roof. Danica would turn quickly and make sure that Ray made his way to her, keeping an eye out for things that might hit him. Her blade was ready and she was waiting and hoping she didn’t have to make her way back to help him through.
The building was stripped apart to the bare minimum, but there was evidence that they would meet more traps in here, once they made it in the door way Danica would point at the stair well “ that way go” she barked taking the rear this time. if it wasn't for the effects of Aquitaine's Quirk there was no doubt she would be winded at this point but she felt good.

Ray knew this was going to be a long day ahead of them The other kid in the class sighed at is request and even looked past him at the muscular guy. He shook his head."I see you still haven't realized that size isn't everything," he chided back at her when she scowled.
"Same goes to you," he replied with a more tired tone than upset and turned away from her to face the course. She had a lot of angst and he had no time for it. Whoever she was didn't seem like she played well with others. Something he hoped she'd get through if they were going to be in the same class. And the point of the exercise. But he had to make do with what he had.
He shrugged off the glare she shot and kept moving, a part of him thinking he should just leave her to her own devices next time instead of helping her, but it would defeat the purpose. He watched her turn into a black mist and phase through the bullets leaving him to block them. An impressive skill and he cocked his brow, now fully aware of just how solo she wanted things to be. "Do the words team not register in that thick head of yours?" he asked in a snarky way as she glared at him and ordered them to move forward once more.
More guns appeared on the buildings and Danica dashed out once again trying to instruct him on what to do. "That's it," he mumbled to himself, and while she zigzagged Ray ran straight down the side of the street. he kept his right side close to a wall and covered his left with a water dome. That way he only needed to exert half as much energy. Even with the benefits of Aquitane's quirk, he didn't want to rely too heavily on it as it wouldn't give him a good gauge of where he was if he did. The pellets pinged off of the water shield.
She zagged over in his direction and with a cheeky smile he commented, "Evasion works for you. I'll stick to blocking,"And ran past her. He arrived a few feet before the door but hung back a bit and created a bigger wall of water that they could both fit behind and blocked the pellets. Once she ran passed him and looked back to make sure he was coming,"Ladies first I presume." he said sarcastically as she entered the building and he followed.
He stood in the door behind her and walked slowly, taking stock of everything there. He let out another deep exhale and rolled his eyes as she barked another order. "Oh...You want me to go first this time?" he replied as he was walking and took a big drink of his water bottle he carried looped to his belt. If there was one type of person that got under his skin in the world it was people that had a pompous air to them.
Ray ran up the stairwell not worried about keeping pace with her but looking back occasionally to make sure she didn't mist off recklessly somewhere. He stepped into the second-floor room and immediately a gun appeared above the doorway and fired a pellet. he narrowly saw it and rolled to the side, "Stay back!" he yelled back out as the pellet exploded. He rolled back to his feet with his shoulder burned from the explosion and cut from stray bits of fragments.
The wound began to heal immediately and his own regenerative capabilities were bolstered by Aquitanes quirk. He sent a violent stream of water arching around and slicing the gun in two just as another one appeared. He swung his hand and directed stream of water at the next one slicing it in half as well. A third gun emerged and he butterfly jumped over the pellet and sent a blade water at it. he landed with a bit of a stumble and quickly regained his footing. A final trap opened by his foot and he simply stepped on it with a water shield preventing the gears from extending and the machine malfunctioned.
He ran towards the other side of the room where a door led to a skyline walkway to another building. "We gotta keep making our though the city, going up any further won't help." he opened the door and looked out. The skyline connected the second floor of this building with one across the debris-filled street. The building across the way had three floors and was nestled between some other buildings that had fallen onto it and leaned against the structure. He rubbed his shoulder again as the wound as the skin had already repelled most of the burn and the cuts went bleeding anymore.

His quick wit was too fast for her, as he retorted back to her about size not being everything, he had won this one, she might have been lucky either way, she wasn’t even sure what the big guy was capable of, but he did seem quite strong, and was class president, he must have had some quirk that would have been useful, but the new kid wasn’t too bad of a choice, not that she would tell him that.
~~~~
So far he was slower then her, taking the time to block shots while she ran past and evaded most of them. She barked orders as she Rushed past each obstacle previously, but didn’t want from what she had gathered he was Smart, using his environment to help him, a genius idea of holding the water shield on his side and using the building to shield his opposite side. But they were in a battle ground there was no time to stop and congratulate him, but praise was owed once they were finished. Especially with how she had to talk to him. She had things to prove and she wasn’t going to let up on him yet.
~~~~
After they made it to the building Danica pointed her bokken towards the stairwell and had him take point, in a narrow hall she could disperse into mist but it would make him dodge the attack or block in front of her while she tried to evade, it could be problematic if she were to be caught between his water shield and a turret. Most of his Remarks didn’t bother her, this was Combat talk, it could be a Savage and mean as you wanted, at the end it’s the teamwork that would bond them, and she could talk to him later about how she acted.
Ray took point as they ascended up the stairs. Danica’s eyes looked for traps but was unable to detect any with a glance. As they got to a doorway a Turret popped up and started to fire pellets, Ray yelled to stay back and she did as she brought her wooden blade up and waited to assist, but the pellet caught him in the shoulder bursting on impact and creating a flash fire that singed him. She Realized quite quickly she might have led them right into a Trap, What door would be open unless they wanted them to take that route, on one hand Traps likely meant they were going the right way, but at the same time some traps made things a dead end. “ are you” she was cut off as two turrets appeared, thought Ray was Quick enough to destroy them as they showed up, With the narrow space Danica was helpless to assist him. As the last trap opened under his feet she would explode into mist and reappear beside him attempting to aid his balance so he didn’t step into it, but the shield that surrounded his foot caused the trap to fail and break as the gears cranked and then stopped dead. “You good?” she would ask making sure she didn’t push him too far, though it was likely a Night and day response between her barking orders and then suddenly caring.
They continued to the skyline as Ray pointed out that they were not going to be able to get any further, She wanted to Argue that she was right but it was pointless it was pretty obvious that she had made a bad call, though the idea was solid at least traveling through buildings made the turrets that popped from the windows and shot at them not as much of an obstacle they didn’t have a clue what traps were lying in wait for them through the buildings. “ take point ill cover your flank” she would instruct allowing him to go about this next section at his own pace, it was clear that he wasn’t too much slower then her and his method was better then she expected.
As they proceeded, Danica would point out with her Bokken “ there are Caltrops between the alley ahead, be ready I’m certain that they have this place rigged if they are funneling us into the street” she would tell him. Danica was calming down from her Psychotic Push off the start, the pace was too fast for them and she understood that, it was too reckless and it was better to slow it down and use their heads at least for now.
As they moved across the city street, Danica would point out the live Wires that connected to the poles “ I bet they are charged with a shock still be careful” she would warn so that he didn’t get shocked if he used a water shield to close to them. Danica would move with Ray and keep an eye from behind. So far it was Quiet, too quiet.

The woman appeared beside him from a cloud of unexpected mist. She propped him up as his weight was about to send him tumbling from poor footing. He looked wide-eyed over his shoulder at her for only a moment before he stepped on the trap and faced her. "Oh...uh," he didn't know at first how to respond to her sudden change in demeanor. She was actually caring about him instead of barking commands. Maybe she was a nicer person than he gave her credit for.
"Yeah, I'm good. Thanks," he replied. He would have said more but danger was still all around them and they had a long way to go still. They stood at the skywalk and again she surprised him. "Sounds like you're warming up to me," he said with a smirk and was ready to agree to her plan.
They moved down fro the broken skywalk and back into an alley. His pace was slower but steady and diligent. Her idea to traverse the buildings wasn't bad but they couldn't stay in just one. But if they could move between all of them, that could work. With how they had been improving, he didn't mind leaving his flank to her as trust was building. At least they both had a common goal and that was to finish this as best they could.
He stopped when she pointed out the caltrops. But something else she said gathered his attention much more. He paused and brought his hand to his chin, "You're right. They are funneling us...and I don't like it," he voiced with concern as he tried to think of a way for them to combat the design of the course. But was it even possible to think of something unexpected? Regardless they had to keep moving.
A small current rippled across the ground near exposed wires, that Danica's keen eye picked up on. "Thanks again. that'd be pretty painful," he thanked her and made his way across the street and leaned against the wall of another building with his head poked around the corner.
" I've been thinking. The people who made this course had to create it with various quirks in mind, but our greatest advantage has to be how we use it. They are probably motion sensor and I can distract them to lure them out and we can attack and make it to the next building for cover." He knew her mist could let her close the distance on an enemy rapidly and his ranged shield could give her cover.
Ray conjured a ball of water next to them if she agreed and he would roll it out into the street. Once it got in the middle, turrets on both sides sprang to life from the buildings and opened fire. "Here's our chance! On your lead," he said ready for her to leap into action. Once she darted out he would follow behind and help her take out the turrets and hastily dive into the next building.
What was unaware for the moment was the trap door that just opened behind them down the street. There was a low rumble and an automated turret on wheels rolled out from the underground ramp.

Once he Said he was good, her concern switched to the task at hand, it was going to be rough if everything was armed to the teeth.
As they reached the skyline Danica told him to take point, and he seemed to take it as a compliment of some sort. Warming up to you~ she summoned the words to thought, after he said it, she hadn’t been that mean, had she? Reflecting, she realized that she might had been a little too brash and pushy with someone brand new to her. Her goals still stood though as she wanted to make a good impression. “being direct and trying to lead, doesn’t make me mean” she would rationalize, a bit too proud to admit her push from the start and the pace they were going wasn’t going to last.
She would point out the wires and the electricity that ran through it. She would follow him across the street and place her back to the wall keeping her eyes peeled for turrets, she had a feeling when the first on popped up they would be in a lot of trouble as more would likely trigger. He Agreed with her theory of being funnelled into the streets, and ahead of them was another building they could stop in, but they would have to rush across a wide open 4 lane street. It was going to take them both to do it, if the pelts were angled down they would easily still hit her while in mist form, the small blast of the pellets were enough to singe Ray’s Shoulder, so it would likely evaporate some of her water particles. “ I don’t like it. . . but I don’t have anything better and times wasting.” She reminded as they stopped to formulate the plan.
She would Nod sharply as Ray said it was their chance, her wooden blade would flick out to the right side as she started to run, she watched her footing, if she put too much strain onto her ankle it would reinjure, Nurse Nimue, had wrapped it with tenser and helped her recover but one sharp pivot and she could be back in the nurses office after this, but this time it wouldn’t be the first week of class it would be the first month. As she rushed across towards the open building across the street she noticed the turrets that started to open fire, her eyes quickly Spotted 7 turrets, 3 on the one side all on the second floor, the opposite side had 4 turrets all at the ground level. The Barrage of pellets exploded all around her as she started to make her way across the street she was cut off as two larger blasts landed directly in front of her cutting her route off. Her head Jerked to the side as she strained to see where the shots came from, and from down the road a rolling buggy with cannon like Pellet launchers fired towards her.
Danica Didn’t know what to do as she took fire from both sides, no doubt Ray was stopping a great deal of them from hitting her. She would Dodge back and backpedal before stepping on a piece of rubble that shifted as her foot fell flat on it, sending her tumbling for the ground, but before impact she would Disappeared into mist again, reappearing as close to Ray as possible. “Too many” she would gasp out looking at her ankle, it throbbed but she likely saved herself the trip to the nurse this time. “ we need to clear the turrets tucked into the building there” she would extend her wooden blade out to point in its direction.
Danica would Flick the blade back and knock a few of the pellets that came falling down at them from above, from the machine rolling in their direction, the blast was enough to burn her arms a bit but it was far better then a direct hit. “can you give coverage from above?” she would ask still ready to run for it when they deemed it viable. Her heart beat raced as she felt like they had been there far to long now, they’d have to make up the distance they were losing. A resting Scowl Stayed on her face as she felt like a wide open target.

She defended herself, and Ray just cocked a brow and flashed a cheeky smile, "Assuming you're the leader might. This isn't the army and your not my squad leader." He spoke without malice but he was too stubborn to find a more tactful way to say it or to give her any slack even if she had made the right call in the beginning. She took all of his snarky remarks without lashing back out which showed that she may be a bit more level headed than him sometimes. And he would never admit that her stone-cold attitude and brashness was actually, pretty cute.
The street was wide and it would be dangerous, but she was right, they had to keep moving. The area was vast and the clock was ticking."We'll make the best of it," he said and nodded back at her.
They dashed out into the streets when event turrets sprang to life. It was well placed and the machines were at different angles making their firing pattern harder to handle. Ray tossed up a barrier and held back some of the pellet barrages. He glanced back and forth to Danica and noticed the careful placement of her feet as if she had to focus on something else while in combat. A hard impact shattered his barrier and staggered him back but he quickly threw up another. He needed to be able to make stronger barriers if he was going to rely on them like this. He dashed closer to Danica and the other side of the building when two explosions sent her tumbling back and transforming into a mist. Suddenly she reappeared beside him and Ray expanded the shield to give them more cover. They were seating ducks out here. Her gasp caught his attention and he noted the quick look she made to her ankle, that told him all he needed to know."Yeah, its more than I expected." He held the barrier as more and more pellets rained down on them and peppered the street around them. There were burns on her arms and he wished now, that his quirk let him heal others instead of just himself. She could see the flicker of concern in his eye. he then followed the direction she pointed with her broken, "Alright. Sounds like a plan to me. First the wall turrets and then the tank."
"I can do you one better,"he replied and stepped closer to her. "Jump." Once she did, he would time his jump with hers and wrap them in a bubble barrier made of water. Their feet would land on a gentle stream of water, and Ray would hold out his free hand to make sure she had her balance still. He knew with her mist ability she may not like it in there, but it was all he could think of at the moment to keep them safe...to keep her safe. It was a technique he had held out on but was one of the fundamental ones he had learned when he began training his quirk.
"Alright hold on, I'll get you as close as I can," he trusted his other hand outward and a stream of water poured from the barrier sending them skidding across the ground to the building with the four turrets on the far side. ray was beginning to sweat from the quirk use but held his face calm. The barrier bumped into the wall of the building. "Here," he said as he opened a part of the barrier for her to either escape up or into the building to reach the turrets.
Once she was off, a heavy blast struck the barrier and shattered it, knocking Ray into the building. He tumbled across the ground, "I'm Good!" he yelled back despite the injuries. He didn't want her to stop and worry about him when her task was going to get them out of there. He staggered back to his feet with blurred vision. A couple of shakes of his head brought him to and blood trickled down his chest, slowly closing up from his regenerative ability. "Stupid tank pellet machine," he grumbled and made his way back to the hole in the building.
With Danica above, he made sure to give her cover enough to block any other turret fire aimed at her. Once those were down they could focus on the others. The turrets on the other side were too far away for his quirk to reach, but the tank wasn't. The rolling pellet machine aimed its gun higher toward Danica. Ray threw his hands forward and sent a blast of water at the treads of the vehicle. The water collided and ripped into the rubber wheels, knocking the machine off balance and its blasts fired off randomly into the air.

His comment about not being his Squad leader, was something she wanted to argue about, because someone had to step up to take point and she certainly didn’t think he was able to, but the environment was far too dangerous to let their guard down to squabble over who’s the boss, they needed to work together and fast or else they would be at the bottom of the leaderboard for how little they had gotten through, and Danica was determined not to get below at least 80% the way through.
As they rushed out to the streets, she found that they met far too much resistance to progress any further, she Retreated beside him for the coverage that he Expanded to shelter them from the barrage of explosive Pellets. He Agreed with her as she declared there were too many, the main problem she had was the way there were angled made it hard to defect them away without taking some of the hit regardless of how she positioned. He seemed to look at her ankle, clearly knowing that she did something to it, but she ignored it for now, it was not the time or place. Nor would she have likely let him look at it even if she was hurt, not due to lack of trust but due to her prideful nature.
Ray seemed to have a plan after she requested cover from the turrets above. He got closer then they already were and told her to jump, which she did making sure to care for her ankle, after all the healing and stamina granted by their Combat instructor was helping a great deal, and there was no doubt that if they were on their own at this point then she would be in far worse shape. He seemed to jump as she did as their barrier turned into a bubble. Though no matter the care she took for her ankle it stung as she landed, but realized it wasn’t due to the weight on it but more the shock of water that was rolling over her feet, her hand swung out to grab onto something to support her self ( narrowly missing ray with her Bokken), and Rays hand seemed already outstretched and ready for her. Once they locked hand, she gained her balance back. He took control of the bubble as it rose to the building side, and water rushed towards the turrets on the ground level. While in the air he mentioned her would get them closer, and then as the hole opened up she moved her bokken back and understood what she had to do in order for them to get out of the situation.
She had to take down the turrets on the second floor, there were 3, and her ankle already felt better thanks to the cool water, the regeneration granted by Aquitaine and her pumping Adrenaline. Her eyes narrowed as she nodded “ good luck” she would say before taking a Deep breath and Exploding into the cloud of mist, reappearing in the building not to far from turrets in the building, her wooden blade lashed out to the side as she Savagely brought the Blunt of the blade down onto the muzzle of the Gun bending the tube were it fire the pellets from. The Turret still functioned as it attempted to swing around to shot at her, but instead the shot meant for her blew up in the barrel, the back up explosion set the pellets still loaded in the gun to detonate resulting in a Large Blast, one that she narrowly avoided as she dove through the door way into the next room where the last two turrets sat mounted at the window. Hearing the blast from the window, she watched as Rays bubble exploded into nothing but smoke, but the sound of his voice allowed her to spot him through some of the wreckage, laying in the room below her with her, he gave her a verbal cue that he was okay, and she would nod and continue her Siege.
Her presence was noted by the turrets as she entered the room, they spun to face her unloading a few charges in her direction. Dashing into the Fray with little Regard for herself she rushed them, zigging and zagging until she was between them both, as they turned to face her standing between them she would Vanish into mist as they fired blowing each other up. Before Danica reappeared. The blasts from behind her missing only because of the water barrier that had showed up to guard her rear, and the tank blast fired into the sky, colliding with the ceiling of the Scenario room, and for the first time since they started did Danica actually realized they were making for a good team. She would Leap down from the open window onto the street below, knowing the tanks armour would render her wooden blade useless she went into the building where Ray was, shifting back to take a spot beside him again. “ we will need to keep going, I have an idea, can you make another bubble to float us again?” she asked readying herself to pull off a plan.
If he would agree she would stand close to him, and if he made the barrier she would turn into a mist and push the black particles to the edge of the barrier, where after a few seconds she would become invisible, and with any luck so would the bubble. Depending on what targeting system the Tank used it might be enough to shelter them long enough to find a place away from the tank.

The bubble had surrounded them and as he reached for her his neck tensed and his jaw pulled back as the bokken swung by his face, nearly slicing the sweat from his nose. With regained composure, he grabbed her hand to give her some balance and the two were off. They reached the second floor and he couldn't help but smile as she wished him luck. He thought for a moment to say something witty or give a coy retort but instead just nodded back and dropped down to the floor below.
Above him was a medley of battle as she tore through the turrets. "Well alright." He replied, impressed by her skills yet again. And more so that they finally seemed to be in sync about things. He watched her back with the water shields and then followed the giant pellet blast that collided with the ceiling above. If that had hit him it would have no doubt tested the bounds of his regeneration.
Before he knew it Danica had arrived back down. "Good job up there," he felt it polite to stir their energy to something more positive than snarky retorts back and forth and she had already changed since the trial had begun. He took a drink of water and cracked his neck while listening to where request. "No problem. One bubble coming right up," he said and once she was ready he would jump in unison with her and surround them in another bubble. He looked all around the bubble as Danica turned into a mist and pressed the particles into the water itself. "Just full of tricks aren't you Dani." He lifted his foot and looked beneath it at the spreads of particles stretching out all around the bubble. "Hope I'm not stepping on you," he said both concerned and a tad confused but there was no time to be caught up in his thoughts.
The Bubble slowly turned invisible and he looked at it with wide-eyes, "Well I'll be. That's quick thinking. let's make up for the lost time." Ray took a wide stance and put one hand on the side of the bubble he was looking at and held the other aimed behind him. "3..2..ready!" He said and sent a stream of water outward and, propelling the bubble forward. They skitted on the ground out of the building and diagonally across the street.
The pellet tank spun its wheels on the ground, burning the rubber as it veered left and right in place, trying to find some traction to carry it. Eventually, the tank managed to hit a good spot and roared to life down the street. Its cannon scanned from left to right and completely overlooked the invisible bubble of water that dipped into and ally. All that was left on the street was a stream of water behind them, but a simple machine lacked the capabilities to track something as discrete as water.
Ray darted them into an ally and then turned down another. He was beginning to sweat with how much he was using his quirk but he had plenty left in him thanks to the instructor's quirk. They still needed to get a good lead and he raced them a block down the street. next to them was another tall building Ray rushed the bubble over to it and redirected the propulsion stream at the ground to send them soaring upward and into a large blown open part of the second floor.
"Get ready to de-mist,"He said as a warning and then once inside the second-floor office area, the bubble popped and splashed on the ground. Ray exhaled and took a few steps into the building with a big stretch of his back. "Phew well that should get us a good lead. It's not moving as fast with that messed up wheel," he said and walked to a hole in the wall to peek out of it at their further off destination. He looked over his shoulder at Danica and saw her more as a partner now. For a moment he looked into her eyes, and didn't say anything, then quickly cleared his throat and looked back at the city.
The building next to them was lower and they could probably jump down to it. But there were also turrets to worry about. He gave a small grin, "You trust me," and extended his hand to her. If she took it he would jump with her to the lower building. beneath their feet, he created a wide barrier of water that was riddle with turret fire from beneath them. Numerous turrets were on that roof and it could only mean they were getting closer to the goal. They would fall down with the barrier beneath them but it was left open so that Danica could spring into action.
"I can take the right side," he quickly added and fed into a bit of the breakneck pace that Danica had started with. His pace had been more slow but he knew there were times for haste.

When she returned to ray before requesting the bubble he would say good job, and it felt nice to be acknowledged for her efforts, after all, all she did was try to push them both to be better, it was as if all of the snarky comments subsided and she could focus on them as a team. “Thanks” she would retort softly, a little short of breath from the amount of energy she had expelled.
On her request Ray made the bubble for them and once he did she would separate into her black mist and coat the edge of the bubble, the faint ink like black would turn Transparent and the bubble was pretty much invisible to the naked eye. Though in this form the amount of energy she was expanding to get them to their location was going to be taxing, but over aggressive and overconfident Danica decided she could do it, especially with the help form Aquitaine’s Quirk. Once in the mist form, she could still see and hear like usual, but everything was blurred and distorted much like being underwater. But she distinctly heard him call her Dani, and if she hadn’t been currently busy, he would have herd an earful for calling her something so informal.
Holding her breath for as long as she could, she managed to wait until they had made it to the second floor of a office, She would on Cue as he popped the bubble Reform and drop to the floor, her body betrayed her as she tried to stand but couldn’t muster the Strength to do so, having exhausted far to much energy for her quirk. “Dani” she coughed out as she knelt on all fours soaked through all her cloths, her bokken still in her right hand pressed to the tile like floor in the office space. “don’t ever call me that again” she would chock out before coughing out some more water. She Quickly Pushed to her feet and stood on her own putting her weight onto the bokken. “we have to keep moving” she reminded him despite being in a far worst position then him.
She would offer her hand out to him as he asked if she trusted him, she didn’t have much of a choice, she didn’t have the energy to argue his plan, nor could she tell how much farther she could go if they met resistance the entire time, she was fast fading. They would land on the water barrier with Ray and start to move, he offered to take the right which meant she had to take the left side for it to work. She would nod sharply as she flicked her blade upwards and got ready. As he quickly fled towards the side he declared at a speed that she wanted from the start. She Started to move and as she pushed into the action she felt her leg betray her again, as she felt them wobble with each step, the turret Turned to fire at her as she tried her best to burst into mist but couldn’t muster the strength it required. Taking the shot to her thigh she dropped down and pulled herself behind a dumpster as the turret continued to fire at her, the dumpster took a large brunt of the damage but she felt the sheering pain of the burn on her leg with small pieces of metal sticking out.
The only thing she could do was wait in hopes that Ray picked up her slack, a feeling she hated, but it seemed about the only option now, she had pushed herself to hard to fast and was now paying the price, she had become the handicap for their team and she felt both frustrated and ashamed, Aquitaine’s quirk helped her considerably, but she clearly held a false prospective of her own capabilities and their limits, limits she had reached.
The Pellets hammered the side of the dumpster and she felt the force on each one as the wheels rolled into her back as she stayed curled up, any added threat now would almost be over kill, if ray wasn’t quick she might have to submit to defeat right here. The most frustrating part of this was the hit to her ego, how strong she tried to be, and how well it had turned out. In her mind ray thought her to be a Stubborn, irrational, try hard that couldn’t even live up to her own standards.
“Ray!” she would call out, hoping that if he didn’t get too much farther she would be able to gather his attention, a small trail of blood and water leaked out from behind the dumpster were she took refuge, it looked a lot worst then it was because of her started her cloths were, but at that moment she was glad she left her lucky sweater outside of the training course.

Ray nodded when she managed to say 'Dani' through a tired breath. He smiled and took it as acceptance of the nickname until she continued. "uh oh. right then, well it sounded better than Nica. But whichever you prefer," he shrugged and stepped over to help her but stopped short, realizing she would rather stand on her own accord. The technique she just used seemed to take a toll on her and showed a bit more of just how that misty state translated into her solid and normal form. Something he assumed she'd want to avoid if possible in t future.
She urged them to move forward, but he still waited a moment to see that she was completely ready, but time was against them in this scenario. "Right," get replied and pushed onward with her.
Ray dashed to the right and left the other side to Danica. He held up a barrier of water and pushed against the incoming pellets. With his other hand, he sent sharp blades slicing around his barrier and striking at the turrets. Unfortunately, direct damage was not his strongest asset. The pellets kept hammering in and Ray surrounded himself in a bubbled and rolled towards them. Once he was right on them he burst it open and surrounded the turrets themselves in a bubble barrier that got increasingly smaller until the exploding pellets destroyed themselves. One burst through the barrier at the last moment and seared into his hip. "Dang it,"he grumbled as he hopped in place and rubbed the wound that was just beginning to heal.
It didn't take long for him to look behind him and see Danica had gone missing. His eyes grew wide and trailed back to one of the machines that was unloading on a dumpster. A trail of water and blood seeped out from below the dumpster and then he heard her yell out. "Hang on!" He yelled back and rushed over to the side of the building. "think think think...." he mumbled and tried to formulate a plan. Once he was closer the machine began to turn on him. "Here we go. Double Ray," he said as he made a water clone of himself and thanked G for that lesson at the pool. The clone followed alongside Ray and took the barrage of pellets then punched the turret just hard enough to get its attention and was soon dispatched.
Ray jumped up and created a barrier of water that acted as a slide that he rode around, headed for the opposite side of the dumpster. He could almost see her when the machine fired more pellets, he brought up a barrier but miscalculated the speed he was traveling and the placement. The pellets shot into his left arm. Ray grounded in pain and the barrier fell apart, luckily only a few feet above the ground as he crashed next to Danica.
"Hey," he said breathing heavily as his own blood trickled down his arm, but the wound was already slowly healing. "Getting into trouble is my job from now on okay," He stood up and cast a barrier around the turret causing it to malfunction once more with a small surge of sparks.
He then cast a barrier over their heads and extended it out ten yards. "You okay," he asked and lowered his hand to help her up. It wasn't much further now, they could see the end from where they were.
"You think you can handle the offense for a second if we run into anything? I can only cast a barrier until my left arm finishes regenerating. Aquitane's quirk is helping a lot though," he asked with a casual smile as if nothing serious was going on. But he had learned a valuable lesson about his own quirk and that regenerating and fighting with it at the same time taxed it faster. he looked down at the foot she had been nursing this whole time and offered her his shoulder to lean on so they could walk, at least until danger struck again. He held the barrier closer to them but open enough so they could see their surroundings. With Aquitane's quirk, he was still able to cast a barrier while regenerating but that would be it until his arm fully healed which wouldn't take too long. It was already looking better.
"Almost there."

She was convinced that she would likely be left behind, it was probably what she would have done, or at least what she told herself she would likely have done if the situation was Reversed. But she called out his name all the same, he responded to her, which was a good sign for her that he might be coming back, but she still felt so bad for how awful she did, knowing that she was singlehandedly pulling them away from finishing.
She watched her thigh pump more blood from the wound, before she winced and pushed her fingernails into pull the pellet out, she was lucky it didn’t detonate once it was in there or the damage would have been far worst. She would drop the pellet down onto the streets and close her eyes as she felt the continual slam of pellets against the back of the dumpster. Tears of shame and pain slowly formed as each second past, it felt like forever, it wasn’t easy for her to lose control of a situation, she was quite the controlling person and it pained her to know that she was unable to control this situation.
When Ray Slammed himself in beside her she quickly swiped the tear from her eye leaving a Streak of Blood under her right eye., she didn’t want to be caught crying, not after putting on such a tough act, but it was hard to hide. When he spoke, it was a carefree sort of taunt, she couldn’t help but nod and smirk through the pain. He then asked if she was okay “ better now” she would say trying to get to her feet taking his hand to help her there, it pained her to stands, but she realty was at her limit, her quirk granted her a lot of mobility but at the cost of her stamina, which was not aided by her quirk and she struggled to improve it further then she had.
Once they were more settled she would lean down and pick up her bokken, Ray asked if she could hold up the offensive side until his arm healed, a Look of worry flooded her features as she looked past to see the wall of turrets that laid in wait. The odds were completely against them at this time, they didn’t have time to fall back and try from a Different angle, but it was a lot of resistance and on top of that the clock was ticking as she hesitated to answer the question as surly as she normally would be so confident about. “ I can try” was the best she could offer out, her legs still wobbled under her own weight, they felt numb as if she had just ran a marathon, she could still feel her heart beat over most of the other things she could normally monitors ( like her breathing or composure)
She Regripped her wooden blade with both hands this time, she knew that she was wearing out and if she used one hand, she would not have the strength to do anything to the metal turrets. Once they were ready to push the alley into the main road, she would nod to indicate her readiness, Ray mentioned that they were almost there. Her aim was to take out the turrets on the left side, at least then the alley would be a place they could Take Refuge if they got pinned down again.
Danica Launched into motion once they were both ready, she would take aim at the first turret she could reach, swinging more Wildly and with more force than precision like before. She swung her blade more like a Baseball bat as she bounced it off the nozzle of the turret three or four times to ensure it was bent down and unable to fire. Before turning her attention to the next and finally turret in the alley. It was mounted on the side of the building, peeking the corner before firing the shots at them. She did her best to avoid the shots as well as not get in Rays way. She Launched herself into the air to take a double over her head swing at the tack of the turret knocking it off the wall with the sheer force before she landed on the ground in front of the streets opening.
The Extraction point was very close and was marked with small Red Flares that burned, but there was about a block of street left before they could make it, and turrets lined each side of the road. When Danica landed near the streets the turrets became active as they turned and took aim towards them.
A Sudden but distinct crash was heard from behind them as the Tracks of the rolling tank turret seemed to have stumbled into them cutting off the exit from where they came from. It rolled out into the alley, making almost no safe zone. Danica’s eyes Widened as her legs failed her again and she couldn’t get to her feet, feeling like a Deer on ice she pushed herself to stand but stumbled into the wall on the right side of the alley, backing up towards the direction of the tank, but drawing the line of sight of the tank to be blocked by the Dumpster that they were hiding behind. It Stung her pride more to know that she was helpless to the situation. . . or was she?
Danica pointed the turret out if Ray hadn’t noticed it ( which was unlikely) “ Tank or streets?” she asked in more of a Demand of an answer, she would let him make that call and she would go for which ever he decided with the same fury as when they first started. Thought it was most certainly fake confidence, she would try and be strong for the moral of their team.

He cocked a brow at the streak of blood beneath her eye left behind now. Could she have been? No not her. "Great. Then let's get the hell outta here." The look of worry on her face was almost expected. It was a big question to ask. He just hoped that if she didn't have to worry about defense t would be a little easier. But they were both battered up a bit.
"That's all I'll ask," he said with a nod. No smart remark or smirk with it this time. Just thanks. His arm was healing faster than it normally would, but the throbbing sensation made him wince once Danica had turned away from him. He gripped it so it wouldn't dangle and pressed it against his body. Ray followed her lead into the street. She was still fierce and battered turret after turret. Pellets flew freely and Ray cast barriers to block the incoming assault from reaching Dani. Blood still trickled down her leg from the wounds earlier. He couldn't help but curse the quirk he had for only being able to heal himself. He hadn't even done the one job he was supposed to and take damage for his teammate.
Finally, the point was in sight. Only a block left to the red flares that burned like welcoming beacons. But turrets were more present now than ever. They took aim at the two of them. Ray glanced over his shoulder at the tank that burst onto the scene. All the aches and pains he felt subsided to painful realization of the dire situation. The tank rumbled and its massive turret took aim.
Ray dove to the opposite side of the street for shelter as Dani fell back to the dumpster. He was breathing heavy and blood still ran down his arm. He slumped against the wall. His head pressed against the cold concrete. They were so close. Dani called from the other side, demanding a course of action. Ray snapped lifted his wounded arm and flexed his finger, forcing them into a fist. There was only one course of action to take. "Streets. We go for the win!" He yelled back.
The tank wobbled down the street. It's wheels sparked on the ground from the damaged track. The treads that wrapped the metal wheels were torn off and the metal scraped across the ground. He ran out of the corner and sent a splash of water at the tank that harmlessly fell off it and created a puddle on the ground. The tank's turret spun to face Ray, who was smirking at the impending defeat.
The tank's turret began to spin. Ray stepped on the ground splashing into the stream of water he created that led to the tank's exposed wheel. The water stiffened like concrete and shot up like a solid door. It struck the barrel of the tank's turret and pushed it upward just as it began to fire. Pellets whizzed by Ray and arched upward into some of the turrets that lined the left side of the street.
"Come on! We win together or not at all right," He cast a barrier above himself big enough for two, like an umbrella. Pellets rained down on them as Ray dashed to the extraction point as fast as his weary body could take him. He left the sides open in case Dani needed to mist in and out of his aquatic canopy. Each pellet strike chipped away at the water barrier. A few penetrated the barrier and struck his arms and torse, most of the momentum stolen by the barrier. He was taken deep and slow breaths to keep himself going.

The blast from the tank shattered the building opposite of the alleys opening. Unlucky for them it didn’t take out any of the turrets stationed on the lower levels of that building. But at least it was not hitting them. Ray had answered her question but it had taken her a bit of time to process what he said between the blasts of the turret and the grinding of metal on road from the broken tank tracks.
She shifted her weight onto her bad ankle and winced a bit, but she needed her best foot forwards if they were going to push for the win. Yet her legs felt weak, her mind was just barely holding on and she had never felt as tired in her life, she had really been giving it her all, her thoughts were clouded by the worry that they might not finish, it was all she could think of, the spiraling thought that she had let the team down, despite her excessive forceful push from the start. She could not keep up with the pace she tried to hold ray too, and now they were going to fail because of that. But he too seemed tired, they were both likely towards the end of the existent of their abilities.
She broken from her thoughts as ray called out that they won together or not at all. It kick started her fading adrenalin again, the couple seconds of rest had allow her to stand on her own without the support of the wall and as ray moved forward casting out a umbrella like shield she couldn’t help but feel impressed that he was still able to keep the barrier up as they made towards the street. The turrets let out a barrage of pellets that rained down on them like hellfire, the small blasts from the turret pellets were staggering, and deafening against the barrier. Her steady pace moved to more of a limp as the breached into the open streets. The tank behind them tried to move back and forth but its barrel was still wedged upwards with the solidified water wall ( or at least she assumed that)
Danica’s bokken swung out to the side opposite of ray as she held it downwards with both hands. It felt a lot like beating metal with a stick took far more out of her each time she tried. A few of the pellets broke through the shield and hit ray, though Danica didn’t notice, she was focused on what she needed to do to help get them out, it was only a block away but there were easily ten turrets that were visible not to mention any last second surprises they might have implemented for cocky students.
Danica shifted her stance a she tightened her grip on the blade disappearing and then reappearing on the second floor of the building to their left coming out of the alley, if she could get the turrets directly above then she could return to ray and help defect the shots as they moved thought the street. But the overhead blasts were to hard to stop even with a shield.
Danica crashed through the first turret with a great deal of effort as she slammed the blade of the wooden sword against the back panel of the turret opening it up and then smashing the electronic circuit board in the back, though it didn’t draw any attention of the turrets still on her level, they continued to rain pellets onto the water shield. She launched herself into motion again slapping the barrel of the next turret down bending the barrel with the wooden blade. Taking a second to inspect her blade she noticed the notches that have been taken out of the blade by the constant battering of harder materials then itself. Groaning annoyed she protested with the next push on the last turret on her floor.
She noticed it starting to turn and dispersed into the mist and reformed beside it slamming her blade off the turret she felt the handle give way under the force, as it slip up the handle and sent slivers into both her hands. Though the turret seemed unphased as it continued to spin to face her. Not having the energy to disperse again she tossed herself from the second story window and crashed down into the street below rolling close to the building after she landed. Too close to the building for the turret to shoot at her she laid on the sidewalk the flares only a few meters ahead of her she looked back to see if she could see ray, who should have been moving along the same sidewalk.
Danica pushed up to see the turrets across the street still firing full tilt at ray. But her eyes were blurry and she felt weak, as the effects from Aquitaine faded away. She felt sapped of all her abilities, as she lacked the strength to get to her feet, as she sat with her back against the wall of the building. She watched at the turrets started to wind down and the lights flash on revealing that they were still inside a building. The simulation seemed to be shutting down and she had failed her team, her vision faded out to black as she found herself in immediate need of sleep, if they made it, it would only be because ray carried her across the finish line.

Ray held the shield above his head. A weary smile on his face as Danica pushed through the pain and stood beside him. The pellets peppered through the water barrier into his shoulders. Danica whipped her bokken out to the side and looked as vigilant as she did when they began this trial. He looked down at her injured foot once more as her stride became a limp. They only had a little way further. He fixed his gaze on the target and tried to push aside the pain that dug at his body.
In the next instant, there was a plume of black mist next to him and Danica was gone. Her body in mist form seemingly teleported to the second floor. He could hear the grind of metal above him as Danica battered her way through the fleet of turrets. His legs moved slower but he pushed on, staggering from left to right, trying to catch his footing. Danica's valiant battle above gave his legs power to take more steps toward the finish line. "Almost there," he whispered to himself.
Pellets kept raining down. Ray glanced over his shoulder to see the distance growing between him and the tank. So much so that the water wall that shifted the barrel of the great threat was falling into a puddle. The barrel was still bent upward but not nearly as much. The gears began to grind again and the tank skitted down the street. off track it rammed into buildings on the right and left, careening down the street.
He held both hands up to pump more water into the shield. Reforming the holes into a solid mass. Blood slithered down his arm and around the pellets that stuck inside his body. His vision narrowed but the light of the flares was just as bright. He stumbled forward and crashed onto his knee. Heavy breaths followed and with shakey arms he pushed himself back to his feet. One eye shut from blood trickling down it.
His other eye was open enough to see the slender body that flailed through the air. He opened the other with blood smeared around it. "Dani,"he called out. It was a trial but injury was just as real as anything in the world. Her body tumbled onto the ground, and he wasn't there to catch her. Both beaten down. The pellets rained down on the water shield with full focus on him now. Ray planted his foot firmly on the ground. His heel digging into the loose stones from the destruction around them. They were so close, he thought. They were on the same sidewalk and the finish line was only a few meters ahead of her. It was within range
"I'm coming Dani," He took a deep breath, and the water barrier he was maintaining shattered into a waterfall around him and splashed onto the ground. Pellets shot into his back. He leaned down, "Aqua Surge." A rush of water shot from his feet. He felt the hydration draining from his body from overuse. The jet stream of water propelled him forward like a geyser blasting out of the earth. His body soared toward Dani and he tackled into her, grabbing on as tightly as he could.
Pellets whizzed by them. Some of the projectiles punctured across his body. The jet stream of water filling with thin crimson streaks. Then they hit the ground with a thud. Ray's arms slid across the graveled ground. "I'll catch you... next time," He said as they fell onto the ground. Ray's body laid next to hers and his eyes closing shut. He was out cold from injury and dehydration. At their feet was the red flares. They were surrounded by a ring of red flares. They made it.
