APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Lukas hit an early growth spurt, and towers over other children his age. Or he would if he could stand on his own. From the waist up he is muscular, if a shade or two too pale. His sharp features hint at a noble bloodline and his golden mane is kept out of the way in a neat ponytail that reaches a few inches past the base of his neck. Lukas’ second most striking feature is his lower half: wasted and frail, his legs have been useless since the day he was born, forcing him to use a wheelchair. More striking than his disability, are his eyes: Rather than a natural color his irises are a vibrant gold, nearly matching his hair. When he uses his quirk, the whites of his eyes become jet black and appear to be made of metal or stone, creating a stark contrast with his irises. Furthermore, his hands and forearms take on the color of and a similar texture to whatever metal he is using his quirk on.
Clothes: Even when not in class, Lukas prefers to dress formally, even to the point of being teased as old fashioned. He is commonly seen wearing some variation of dress shoes, khaki slacks, a long sleeved collared shirt, some form of tie, and occasionally even a sweater vest or suit vest. The latter is worn when he is somewhere formal, while the former are usually slightly loose along with his shirts: an intentional oversight meant to hide his muscles. When working on a project of some kind, Lukas is almost his polar opposite, preferring a tank top and cargo pants for the extra storage the pants provide and the ease of mobility for his upper body. While hard at work, he is often wearing a welding mask or goggles of some kind.

Personality:
Lukas is a quiet and reserved young man forced into maturity at an early age. He lacks the social skills to know what to say at times, but he is kind and has a heart of gold. He has a fascination with learning and delights in seeing the same in others. Upon discovering someone else who shares his interests, it is not uncommon for him to go out of his way to help them flourish. When it comes to robotics and science, his mind whirls and races in a way it never seems to with most human interaction. The contrast between the way Lukas carries himself in a social setting versus when he is lost in his work is something to behold: to some he may even seem like a different person. However due to his upbringing, he lacks the knowledge to build what he dreams of, so he has set out to learn. Lukas has a very strong personal idea of what a hero should be, and strives to one day embody that ideal: He believes a hero should be a picture of self sacrifice - one who will gladly suffer so that no one else has to, one who would take any blow for a stranger simply because it is what is right. He strives to become a shield for the weak and helpless, even if he must use his own body to do so.

HISTORY
Lukas Siegfried Reinhardt is the only son of a loveless marriage between two vigilantes in the United States. His father, Siegfried Heinrich Reinhardt, is a giant of a man both in stature and will. A grim Vigilante by the name of Ferrus who brought justice upon villains with all the mercy of a warhammer, Lukas’ father was as warm as the cold iron he had taken as his namesake. His mother Linda Almut Reinhardt went by the vigilante name of Projectress, and was known for her cunning and tact in combat. The two married for the sole purpose of producing an heir, both for their quirks and for Siegfried’s family line. Their disgust when their child was born with ruined legs was immeasurable.
It would seem fate itself worked against them, as Lukas’ birth was a traumatic one. While his mother survived, her ability to bear children did not, and the next two children she and her husband conceived were stillborn. Convinced that Lukas was a curse upon him and his wife, Siegfried planned to leave them both to their fate and start anew elsewhere but he never got the chance: a costly battle with an irradiated villain ruined his health and his career, leaving him bedridden and sickly for over a year. While Siegfried’s body recovered for the most part, his quirk did not. A combination of legal reasons, a general sense of duty, and a lack of anywhere else to go kept the family together with Linda providing supplemental income to the Reinhardt fortune.
Lukas’ childhood was a solitary one, filled by books, abuse, and dreams of a better life. When his parents weren’t taking their anger out on him, they were yelling at each other. Despite their treatment of him, Lukas preferred it when they yelled at him. Somehow it was less terrifying than hearing them nearly coming to blows in another room. When his quirk manifested, he was overjoyed. He rushed to show his parents in the hopes that they would be proud. The only response he received was a look of contempt from his father: “What a waste” He’d said. “A quirk like that on a body like yours.” Lukas had fled back to his room and it was not until late that night that his sobs slowed enough to allow sleep.
His father was never quite free of the hospital, and commonly spent a week or more under careful study. This, combined with his mother’s constant work as a vigilante and later as a pro hero gave Lukas plenty of time to himself. The only gift he’d received from his parents had been a wheelchair, which he used to wander the large home. There were several areas that were inaccessible to him at first, both up and down stairs. However a child’s curiosity is a force to be reckoned with, and Lukas quickly learned how to navigate even without his chair. When he was home alone, the house was his jungle gym, and the stair bannisters were his monkey bars. Once he’d found his father’s collection room, it quickly became his favorite room to explore: There were so many trophies and articles and photos that there always seemed to be another to be found. When he first discovered it, it had been locked, but the key was easily found in a drawer nearby. Lukas always took care to place everything back as he’d found it, as he shuddered to think of the wrath he would suffer if his father found out. Lukas always imagined his father as a terrifying but awesome hero, striking fear into villains and saving the day with a grumpy frown. The idea made him giggle as a child.
One day a young Lukas was in the collection room, photos and paraphernalia arranged all around him in neat little stacks, when his father came home. Lukas was so engrossed in his readings and imaginings that he didn’t hear the front door, nor his father’s footsteps coming up the stairs. Only at the sharp crack of his father’s angry voice did he start with a panic. As the massive former hero loomed in the doorway, something happened that Lukas had never seen, nor has ever seen since: His father’s expression softened. With but two strides he was across the room and after taking a moment to inspect what Lukas had been reading, he sat down beside his son and told the wide eyed boy of his time as a vigilante. Lukas listened to his father long into the night, admiration and joy in his eyes. In that one moment his fate was decided. For good or for ill, he would become a hero. Siegfried never again openly showed any sign of affection, nor did he ever grow kinder with his outbursts of anger toward Lukas. But from then on, whenever Lukas went to his father’s collection room, he found the door unlocked.
As he aged, Lukas rapidly outgrew his clothing and wheelchair, much to the ire of his parents. He was given his father’s old clothes, which despite his own size never fit him. He made the mistake of asking for a new wheelchair once it became difficult and painful to sit in. His father’s response was to leave him with a heap of verbal abuse and a block of iron, saying that if he was so proud of his quirk, he could use it to solve his problem. So Lukas practiced day in and day out, his inexperience lessened by his quick mind. Eventually he was able to make his wheelchair large enough for him, though it took several more months for him to get it to function and look as it originally had.
Lukas grew up reading books from his mother’s library and had a fascination with learning, particularly about robotics and engineering. As he neared 15, he had a plan in mind and nothing would stop him. He would convince his parents to send him to the UA Academy, for support classes. He wouldn’t bother telling them his real reason. He explained that it was time he learned to use his quirk for something helpful. However he planned to take support classes only long enough for him to gain enough mastery over his quirk and skill with engineering to build himself something that would allow him to be useful as a hero. Then he would do everything in his power to achieve his true goal: To get into the hero courses at the best Hero Academy in the world. When he’d gone to speak with Siegfried, his father had waved him away dismissively, but he had later found a bundle on his bed. It had contained nothing more than a plane ticket to Japan, a key with a label, and surprisingly thoughtfully: an English to Japanese dictionary. There was also a small amount of money. He knew better than to ask his father or mother for a ride and called a cab. Before he had time to finish processing what had happened, he was in Japan without ever saying goodbye.
The key’s label had an address written on it, and upon arriving he found a small apartment complex in a poor section of a city. After a bit of difficulty and charades, he learned that it was to an apartment. It was paid off for the next year, and while utilities were paid, there was nothing set aside for food or an entry into the academy. The apartment wasn’t even furnished. The message was clear: If he wanted to make something of himself, he would have to rely on himself. He let out a long sigh as he learned where it was. Of course his father would have paid extra for a room on the top floor.

QUIRK INFORMATION
Quirk
Hands of Vulcan
Hands of Vulcan
Type: Transformation
Rank: E
Description: Lukas can manipulate any metal he can touch for as long as he is touching it, reshaping it to suit his needs. With additional effort, he can also change the properties of metal as he reshapes it, such as making it denser or lighter. When it comes to manipulating metal in relation to his own body, Lukas has more control. For example he is able to use his quirk to allow himself to walk by creating struts for his legs that he manipulates, however he cannot replicate this trick for anyone else. When he uses his quirk, the whites of his eyes change, becoming almost obsidian in color and taking on the appearance of being made of dark metal or stone. The golden irises remain unchanged in color, but take on a metallic sheen. Furthermore, his arms and hands from the elbow down take on a similar texture and color to the metal he is manipulating.
Benefits
- Bionic enhancement: Lukas can form supports to augment his body and enhance his strength. On his legs, they merely allow him to walk, albeit ponderously compared to most others. On his arms, they can function more like armor or strength enhancement, however he currently cannot actively manipulate more than one set of limbs at his current level of control, and cannot maintain continuous manipulation for long.
- In field construction/Rapid repairs: Lukas can use his quirk in conjunction with his skill as an engineer, allowing him to effect field repairs on metal surfaces, or even form splints or barricades. His signature move is to form a large shield of metal on his left arm.
- Iron Wall Stance: Lukas can lock up any metal he was previously manipulating on his body and even fuse it to any metal he is standing on, rendering him very difficult to move. If he needs to hold a position, this is his signature stance.
Exhaustion and Weakness: Lukas must be able to touch the metal in order to manipulate it. He must also know what metal he is working with and what he wants to do with it. He cannot manipulate it into a new shape swiftly, but a shape he has practiced with or is otherwise simple can be made fairly quickly. The more complex the shape, the more difficult and longer it takes to shape the metal. Symptoms of mild exhaustion include headaches and muscle fatigue, and symptoms of heavy exhaustion include splitting migraines and muscle spasms. His biggest weakness is his lack of mobility, which he hopes to one day make up for with what he can learn from the support classes. His willingness to throw himself between others and any source of harm is another weakness that can be used against him, though he doesn’t see it as such.
