All I can do is be me, whoever that is. Early on a Saturday, before even the start of morning classes, three students received a memo that called them out to Dagobah Beach. They were excused from their classes for the morning. Instead, they were expected to arrive in their hero regalia, wide awake and fed, and ready for their first day as interns under the hero Yellow Jacket. The memo reminded them that they were not to use their Quirks until she gave them permission, even if that meant they would need to walk from the school campus to the beach had they no other means of transportation. There wasn't a strict time limit, or at least not one that was ridiculous. All it said was to be at the beach before the other students had left the dorms for class...so about forty minutes away.
Tsutsuji Hachi was standing on one of the piers jutting out from the boardwalk into the sea, wearing her own hero "costume", sans her helmet for the moment. She was braiding up her hair. It had gotten longer over the last few months, and she hadn't been in to get it cut in some time. There was just too much to do. Maybe she should get it done before it grew too long to keep under her helmet without a nest of bobby pins and braids.
It may be nice to have it long again, though. I could wear goggles instead, like before--
...no, I should get it cut.
These thoughts were not very important. She was just keeping a level head and doing something simple with her hands while she went over the actual plans for the day in her head. She was put on Musutafu's patrol for the day, and, while she usually focused on the shopping district and suburbs, she had been told that there was a storm coming from the west that might cause some issues with fishing boats or those on the beach--though why anybody would be on the beach in mid-April she had no clue. There was quite a bit of garbage on the beach as well. Scatterings of tourist's wrappers and cans, discarded bikes rusting from salt water--it wasn't horrible, the sand was still visible beneath it, but when the beaches weren't in high demand as they were in summer there wasn't as much care to pick up what washed ashore between fall and spring. Finished with her braiding, Hachi placed her helmet back on her head.
It's not as glamorous or thrilling as whatever I'm sure he had planned for his team, she thought, lightly amused as she continued to wait on the boardwalk, But heroism isn't always. If we get an alert from the JCP then this will get interesting. But until then...let's hope they're not squeamish. Or allergic to sea weed.

Ever since hearing about it last year from the upperclassmen, Karen had been looking forward to the internships they would have this year. Working together and learning directly under a hero in the field must have been a great learning experience. And so when she finally received a memo from one of the heroes she applied for, she couldn't help but feel ecstatic. The hero in particular was actually a teacher in UA though they had never met personally. They instructed a different year after all so the opportunities for interaction were limited. But she had been fairly aware of the activities of Yellow Jacket based on accounts from her schoolmates and whatever made it to the news. As one of the few active flying heroes, of course the veteran teacher caught Karen's attention while she was looking for internships to apply for. Even without being asked to do so Karen was already an early riser so the morning of their first internship day wasn't all that different from her usual routine. She went for her typical before dawn jog and then had a hearty breakfast back at the dorms. After a quick shower, freshening up, and grabbing her bag, she was off to the bus stop to take the first trip to Dagobah Beach. Of the notes mentioned in the memo, what stood out was that they were supposed to come in their hero costume. This would be the first time she would get to wear it off campus so it really helped set the mood of being an intern. Fortunately their meeting spot was at the beach so she could make use of the locker rooms there to change instead of wearing her hero outfit the whole way there. It would have been rather showy and she figured she probably shouldn't draw any unnecessary attention seeing as she was just a student. There would be plenty of time for that once she got her license. She arrived at the beach with plenty of time to spare and headed for the lockers as planned to dress up. After making sure that all of her things were safely locked away, she finally stepped outside donning her hero outfit. It was the usual sleeveless bodysuit and thigh highs designed to maximize the effectiveness of her quirk. Though the note did say that she shouldn't be using her quirk without permission, in her mind that just common sense. Even if they ended up not using their quirks today, it was still worth coming out in her hero outfit as she also wanted to test how it would feel in a more open environment. Her first impression was that it was really rather cold. It was mid-April after all. Making a mental note to look into possibly warmer fabrics, she headed for the boardwalk where their teacher would be waiting. It seemed she was the first to arrive. "Good morning sensei~"She would greet politely as she approached the veteran hero, wondering if they had been waiting long. "Actually, how should we refer to you today? Should we be using hero names?"It was worth clarifying. Personally she would be thrilled if they used hers.

Mizuki knew the beach by heart. It was where she went to meditate on most of her weekends. To get a chance to actually to get to train here was actually a good thing for her. It was a relaxing place during this time of year and not people bother her. She came out here with Yang once and they share an interesting day together. Although she had not sorted out her feelings for her yet, she was confident in today's training. 'Working on your mobility would prove to be quite useful for you,' Tsuki, her inner spirit, said to her. The bus ride their was awkward for Mizuki but at least she had Tsuki to keep her company. 'Yeah,' Mizuki responed to the spirit. 'Ever since the whole Redhorn incident, I have been trying to find new ways to improve my speed and rescue capabilities.' She looked out towards the window as she though about the couple of months back when all hell broke loose. The tabloids were able to cover up some of it, but she wonder what if the next situation comes. She needed to be faster than she was right now. She stepped off the bus and headed toward the beach area. She was instructed to come in her hero costume. Luckily for her, it was completed in enough time. It was the tradition qipoa she usually wore with a few alterations. It was black in color with no sleeves and light blue flowers as designs. She also had wraps around her hands, forearms, shins and feet. Although they look clothlike, they were actually flexible metal that she could transfer her quirk's energy through. The wraps had Chinese runes in them that light along with the flower designs when Mizuki used her elemental quirk. Her father wanted to add more, but she objected to it. The splits in the qipoa was understandable due to the movement she needed. However, she added shorts underneath to make it still seem appropriate for a hero to wear. As she near the beach, she saw both her teacher for the day and Rin. "Good morning, sensei," Mizuki said with a bow. She took her place next to Karen and waited for others to arrive. Attachments:

Hayate stretched and yawned as he woke up to the sound of his alarm, he wasn't usually an early riser but he made sure to wake up earlier than he needed to make sure he had enough time to get ready and wake up properly, but it didn't matter that he had to wake up because today was the day that Hayate started his internship with Hachi and he was so excited learning directly from a pro hero Hayate knew he was going to get a wealth of information that would help him in his hero studies and his career as a hero as well as potential ways he could improve his own skills and abilities. He made sure to eat a good breakfast before hopping in the shower and changing into some casual clothes and stuffing his basic hero costume into his backpack I've gotta remember to design a final idea so I can pass that on to someone to get that made up he thought to himself as he zipped up his backpack and raced down to catch the bus to the beach. Once he arrived on the beach he made his way over to the lockers to get changed into his hero costume. Once he exited and put his backpack in the locker he saw Hachi as well as Karen and Mizuki, he ran over to them "Oh no I'm not late am I? I got up even earlier to make sure this wouldn't happen, I'm sorry!" he'd say giving an apologetic bow to Hachi before standing on the other side of Rin smiling, excited for what this internship could hold

All I can do is be me, whoever that is. The bus schedule brought two within every hour, but the beach was also not so far from the school that one couldn't reach it on foot. She saw people going into one of the locker areas not too far from the pier she stood on, and, hair at an acceptable place on her head, Hachi slid her helmet back into place, adjusting the parts that went over her antenna and the goggles over her eyes. The first to approach was...an interesting choice in costume. Hoshizora Karen's Quirk had some unusual limitations--one being "modest clothing"--and it didn't look like she was all too happy with her choice of costume in the cool April morning air. Hachi couldn't smirk with how mask-like her face was, but a ghost of one tilted her mouth up just so. Well. It was learning experience, if nothing else. Hopefully she had a coat.
"Good morning, Hoshizora-san. You may refer to me as sensei for now; I'll explain everything once everyone has arrived to save time." She nodded her head in a polite bow, and looked over Karen's head at the next approaching persons. More revealing costumes. Well, they were teenagers...maybe she should insist on their first draft outfits being sensible rather than fashionable. It might save everyone a cold in the future. "Good morning Haymaker-san." A few paces behind her came Yamada Hayate. Despite the last name, he and Yamada Saito in her class were not related. His choice in clothing would give him some more protection at least.
"Good morning Yamada-san. You're fine. Everyone, well done being punctual and following my instructions." Hachi held her claws at her waist, tips of her gloves touching just so. "From here on, I will be referring to you by the hero names you gave yourselves, and expect you to do the same with each other and myself. For myself, that name is Yellow Jacket. If you would, please exchange hero names with one another, and be sure to memorize them. And feel free to explain your Quirks to one another, should you be unfamiliar." She gave the three of them time to give their hero names, and a brief explanation if they so chose. As they did so she went over what she had reviewed in their files. All of them had various methods of improved mobility; Karen had straight flight, Mizuki had gear that enabled her to leap--not unlike one of her prior internship students, to her amusement--and Hayate's spider-like abilities allowed him to swing and acrobat his way around. Just as it had been last year: all were "high mobility" on paper, but all had very different methods.
It would be interesting seeing them manage this task then. As the conversation died down, Hachi tapped her claws to get the attention of her interns. "Now, I am likely to disappoint you all with what I am about to say next: but our assignment today will involve a lot of time waiting for an alert. The JCP, Japanese Coast Patrol, is asking for our help in the event of an off-shore emergency, as there have been reports of piracy since the incident in Shinigawa. I have no doubt you have a question or two about that, but it isn't the time and place for them. While we are waiting, I would like to see a small demonstration of some of the versatility of your Quirks and your capabilities."
"As you can see the shore is in a state of disrepair after the winter season," Hachi lifted an arm toward the shore off the side of the pier, as well as the rough black rocks that framed it on the far other side, "Quite a lot has washed up onto the sand or been left behind. Some is quite a bit larger than your expected trash. I believe I saw a refrigerator out there when I flew over. I request that for the next thirty minutes, you three make use of your different abilities to pick up as much of the beach as you can. Recycling receptacles and trash bins are located near the building you put your belongings in, as well as here at the start and end of the pier. And as for the larger things...we can leave those near the receptacles and bring them to a dumpster before the day is over."
"I have a radio in my helmet that the JCP can reach me through. I also have headpieces for you, though you will likely not need them unless we are pushed out to sea. I have medical tape for you to keep them attached should you require it, and ones that have less conventional shapes should your ears be inhuman in nature." One could never be too careful in this age. Hachi took out a trio of simple black earpieces, each with a slender mic attached that could be taped to the cheek or jaw of the wearer, as well as a thin roll of medical tape. "The range of these is about ten meters. Again, you will not need it for this, but it is best you have them now rather than having to put them on as we're moving toward an emergency."
"And a some quick questions for each of you to consider: can you swim, how is your Quirk affected by salt water, how many would you be able to carry to shore if you had to, and for how long could you do so?"

One by one her fellow interns would arrive. To her surprise they were all from the same class. She wondered if it was a coincidence or intentional. If she had known that today's trip would have been one with classmates then she would have invited them all to leave campus and go to the beach together. A missed opportunity but she probably shouldn't dwell on it. Anyway their teacher would proceed to explain the specifics of why they were there. It seemed they were going to refer to each other by their hero names after all. This got her excited as expected. In addition to sharing their hero names, they were also supposed to say a bit about their quirks. Now Karen had already taken this class before with Hayate. She was already aware of his quirk and his alias. Presumably he also knew hers. That left the newcomer Mizuki who had enrolled very late last year. With this in mind she would mostly address the new girl first as she proceeded to speak. "Mizuki-kun right? We didn't get to talk much last year but in case you didn't catch my name, I'm Karen, hero name Shooting Star. My quirk forms an aura around me that allows me to fly at high speeds."
"Good to see you too Hayate-kun! You were Huntsman right? Ah, my bad. I'll just let you explain your quirk."She would chuckle a bit. As much as she didn't mean to disclose it on his behalf, she also wanted to confirm if she remembered correctly. She would keep quiet and listen to her classmates' introductions before turning her attention back to their teacher who would continue with today's agenda. Basically they were on standby in case of an emergency. She wasn't sure why Hachi would say that they would be disappointed about that. As far as she was concerned, if there was no trouble at all today then that would be the best scenario for everyone. It wasn't very heroic to wish for an incident to happen just so they could show off. As for what they would do in the meantime, their teacher suggested clean-up duty. Well it wasn't an ordinary clean-up. They would do so with the aid of their quirks. Certainly that would make things much faster. And if they were going to give a demonstration of their abilities, then doing so while performing a public service was definitely a good idea. Of course this wasn't exactly hero work but the day was young. If they finished up quickly here, perhaps they'll see more actual hero action sooner too. While Hachi distributed the headpieces they would use to communicate in the event of an emergency, the hero would ask them a few more things about their quirks. Specifically the veteran wanted to know if they would be up to the task of a possible sea rescue. Karen would respond first. "My aura offers protection against g-forces and the like to allow me to fly unimpeded. It actually functions very similar underwater although I've yet to really push how fast I can go in a watery environment. I would say, besides a 20 to 30 percent reduction in my top speed and the fact that I would need to hold my breath, I should be able to move underwater in the same way I can fly."And she wouldn't even need goggles thanks to her aura. It was quite convenient. "As for how much I can carry, assuming there was a way for me to hold them all... I could probably air lift 20 or so people at once. That was the result of the strength test in my last physical anyway."A chance to actually try never really came up, but she was fairly confident about that number.

Mizuki was never too big on hero names, but she understood its purpose. It was not that the hero themselves were hiding from the public. They were trying to protect the loved ones they cared for. But Mizuki still hated the idea of wearing masks and having secrets. Mostly because of her father's vigilante lifestyle.
Why wear a mask if you have nothing to hide? Why not do things the proper way in the first place? Why have secrets? Not only that, but her mother had also told her that their father's other life was putting a strain on the marriage. Mizuki had to become a pro and fast. She knew it wouldn't be an overnight thing. But she had no time to play around. She had to be on point with what she did.
Once all the students, Yellow Jacket had explained to them that they would be waiting on alerts. Mizuki was fine with that. She didn’t expect so much action on some of these internships. Mainly because they were in their second year and still had a long way to go to catch up with the senior classmen.
Karen introduced herself along with explaining that she was in the same in class as her along with Hayate. “Nice to meet you both. My name is Mizuki. I am Desmoshi’s twin sister. We both share the same quirk where we can replicate elements and use them in various ways.” Mizuki’s tone was still deadpan, but she had her reasons. Her quirk partly relied on her emotions and she had to keep it in check. Otherwise, she would be like her brother.

Hayate let out a visible sigh of relief when Hachi-sensei confirmed that he wasn't actually late but quickly regained his composure when she began speaking again. It seemed they were going to start off with a brief introduction, the 3 were in the same class but he guessed it wouldn't hurt, though it seemed like Karen was going to mention his hero name first, he nodded confirming that was his name "Yep, Hero name: Hunstman and I have a mutation quirk that gives me a few qualities resembling that of a spider, I can shoot sticky spider-web like fluid from my wrists which I use in conjunction with the enhanced agility my quirk affords me, I also have sharp fangs instead of canine teeth," he'd say lifting up his upper lip to give a proper view of his fangs "Using these and a venom that I produce I can inject the venom which causes feverish symptoms in those affected," he'd say letting go of his upper lip and letting Mizuki do her introduction.
Once they were all done with introduction Hachi-sensei explained what they would be doing. It seemed like they were going to be on standby in case the coast patrol needed some assistance in an off-shore emergency, while he was slightly disappointed there was no guarantee he'd see any action today he quickly realized that technically that was a good thing and while there was no guarantee they'd be doing any hero work they would be doing something at least. Hayate looked along the beach and saw all the refuse and waste that was laying around everywhere Yeah it actually looks pretty filthy right now, is it really so hard for people to put stuff in the bins he thought to himself as he turned his attention back to Hachi-sensei. It seemed she had communication earpieces for the interns to use if they got called out to an emergency which Hayate found pretty cool. When it came to her final questions Hayate became a little nervous "I can swim but when my webs get wet they lose their stickiness and become useless, so I could only carry 2 maybe 3 people at most back to shore," he'd explain a touch nervous that if they did get called to an off shore emergency he might end up being a little useless

All I can do is be me, whoever that is. The students spoke among themselves, giving quick introductions to both their Quirks and their abilities in a most timely fashion. Hachi passed around the medical tape for them to attach their headsets while listening. From first impressions, Hoshizora Karen was a more extroverted individual than the other two. She was fast to start the conversation and seemed more than happy to share. In contrast, Mizuki sounded very reserved, and didn't even answer Hachi's outstanding question of how the sea water may effect her Quirk. Then again, she could manipulate water, couldn't it? She was vague on her explanation. That wouldn't do. "Footwork is the hero name you gave yourself, correct, Haymaker-san?" Hachi spoke in an even tone--no sign of disappointment or the like in her voice, whatsoever. "If you are to be working with us for the next several days, if not longer, it would behoove you to pay attention to my prompts and questions and answer them accordingly. Stoicism and lack of communication will do you no favors when working with a team. If you missed what I asked, I will paraphrase it: how will your Quirk function at sea?"
She didn't like to call people out like that, but she, too, had been poor at communicating with her teammate when she was younger. She'd learned to get over it after a few close calls. It was best for Mizuki that she steered her away from similar, painful experiences.
Hachi then looked at Karen. "So how would you theoretically hold onto twenty human bodies at once? Does your Quirk extend to those you touch, or can you think of another means of which to transport them? Consider, perhaps, a life-raft, if you believe yourself strong enough to carry it and a collection of people." Then she turned back to Hayate. "Unfortunate. It would be wise for you to avoid the water, then, and consider alternative actions you could take in such a situation. If you can't use webs, what can you do?"
With her questions in the air, Hachi began to move. Behind her two long, gossamer wings lifted up and stretched out behind her a good two feet out, before moving to be parallel with her shoulders. They slowly began to move up and down, picking up speed, until they were so quick that they nearly blurred together. Hachi suddenly lifted off from the ground--at first only by a couple of inches, and then a foot, before giving just the smallest of smiles to her students. "I believe it would be fair to find a way of making this task more stimulating. So how about this. Everyone claim one of the disposal bins by the locker area--I saw three, not counting the recycling receptacles. Whomever can fill theirs up first...well, I do not have a prize, but you'll have the satisfaction of having your skills recognized."
She blinked. Suddenly, Hachi was half-way across the beach, a blur of yellow and black rushing through the crisp morning air fast enough to make some of the sand and stray papers kick up in her wake. She came to a stop standing on the top of a long abandoned beach umbrella that, somehow, was still standing up in the thick wet sand. Her wings were still hovering to keep her aloft--she didn't trust this thing to hold her weight.
"I will not have you being underhanded towards you teammates, though, even in a play-exercise such as this, so be fair and do not take something from anyone else's bin. But...right from under their hands, I'll allow. When you are all three of you ready, you may start."
--
So for the sake of fairness (and because it's more fun that way!) at the end of your posts, everyone roll a die with the button up on the far right of the text editing bar or whatever it's called, the thing that has all the coding mumbo-jumbo. Whoever rolls the highest will succeed in the first part, BUT I'll also be rolling my own bad luck die on my turn, which will lower the count of whomever it lands on. Whoever's rolled highest out of the next two rounds of posts wins!
Ready? Go!

Mizuki wasn't very talkative it seemed. And even their teacher would point this, introducing their hero name on their behalf while restating the question that was initially asked. Karen didn't think that her classmate wasn't being cooperative on purpose. The girl probably had reasons. But Yellow Jacket would stress the importance at trying a bit harder in the communication department. As for Hayate, it sounded like his quirk and the sea weren't a very good match. This was unfortunate as Karen already had the chance to work with another student who possessed a spider quirk and she found that she good synergy with such abilities. She would have to set aside testing that for now. The veteran hero would continue to prod him though for what else he could do to be effective in this situation. Karen herself wasn't exempt from additional scrutiny. In her case she was asked to think about how exactly she could maximize her strength and pull off being able to assist 20 or so people at once. The life raft was a good suggestion. If she had something like a net, that would work too but would probably be not a very comfortable ride for her passengers. "I think the life raft idea works well and would be the safest option. In that case rather than lift the whole thing it might be less risky to just tow the raft with everyone on board to shore. It would be less of a strain on me too as I don't have to carry the entire weight."Carrying them was one thing and doing so safely was another. The slightest anomaly could knock someone off balance and throw them off the raft. And if they were up in the air, Karen could do little to save them as she would have her hands full with just lifting the others. In a way there was reason not to push her limit with saving people if she could help it. Perhaps she was being too hasty with that claim. Safety was still the top priority after all. When their discussions were done they would finally move on to the task that was first mentioned earlier. She found it amusing that their teacher would make a game out of it. She would have happily gone along with the task even without the extra stimulation. But making it a little competition does make it more fun. Though she wondered if it was really fair. At least in terms of speed, she was sure she was a cut above her fellow classmates. Speaking of speed, the veteran hero would also show off a bit, flying further out into the beach. Perhaps this was their way of saying quirks were fair game. Karen was definitely itching to fly herself. She thought back on Yellow Jacket's explanation and remembered that they mentioned something about recycling receptacles. It was then that she got an idea. Filling up a disposal bin with just anything she could grab was easy. But even though this was a competition, she still wanted to make sure the trash was dealt with properly and orderly. She decided that as a bit of a handicap, she would only go for cans and other discarded metal objects. At a glance it seemed like there was enough of that stuff scattered around the beach to make it worth focusing on. For a moment she wondered if just grabbing the discarded refrigerator counted as filling up the bin. Probably not, since it was bigger than the bins themselves. She didn't really have any questions so when the veteran hero gave them the signal to start, she activated her aura and sped off toward toward the designated bins to begin working. There were some collection bags there as well as a pair of tongs to pick things up with. But since she had elected on picking up metals, she didn't want to risk the bags tearing or breaking. There was only one thing to do. She picked up the bin itself. Container in one hand and tongs in the other, she would proceed with her trash collecting, starting with a few cans close by. Filling up the bin should be quick. 9STVESyd

Mizuki was taken aback by Tsutsuji-sensei's question. She knew that the heroine was trying to dig deeper into the meaning of her quirk. But it was hard to trust new people, especially if there was no guarantee that they would trust her. It was the fear she had that kept her from being so close to people. With Yang it was easy because she was a quiet person. With Desmoshi, it was because he was her brother and they work so well together. 'Not to interrupt,' Tsuki said in the back of her mind. 'But the Bee woman does have a point.' Mizuki mentally glared at her inner self. 'What point is that? To put me on the spot? To make me feel less than what I am right now?' Mizuki knew that both Yellow Jacket-san and Tsuki were only trying to help her come out of her shell, but she just couldn't. The inner spirit sighed, taking a meditative pose on the pond that was built in the mental scape. 'Look at this way,' the wise spirit replied. 'In a real situation, your team needs to know what you are capable of and what they can do to work with and around your power. Anything less would cause problems for both you and them down the road.' Tsuki closed her eyes and continued. 'Desmoshi nor Yang will not be there to help you all the time. You need to rely on other people.'Mizuki took a moment to think about this. Tsuki wasn't wrong and neither was her teacher. It was just so damn frustrating to let others know your thoughts without knowing theirs. It made her feel so vulnerable. 'And don't worry about your emotions causing problems,' Tsuki added. 'Yes, it is true that the power you have relies on how calm you are. But look at your brother. The reason he has no fears of his power is that he has learned to trust himself. You have to do the same.' She didn't want to compare Mizuki to her brother, but Tsuki believed this was the only way that she would listen to her. Mizuki knew she was right. She had to accept the fact others would be on the job with her. Her brother nor the people she was comfortable with would come to bail her out. And she was to learn how to be a hero and figure out what she truly wanted to do, she would have to accept this lesson first. Mizuki took a deep breath. She looked at Yellow Jacket with a softened expression and responded, " Yes my hero name is Footwork. It was a name my father had given me, and I plan on changing it soon. I do apologize for not answering your question fully. My quirk allows me to create elements, such as wind or water. However, I cannot control the elements that my quirk has created. I am still trying to find a way to work around it for now. I can carry up to two people at max, and although I cannot swim, I might be able to use my quirk to skate or traverse over the water carefully."
She hoped this would be enough for now. Mizuki was still learning about her quirk and the extents of it. She didn't want to give her teacher an answer that was untrue or not correct. She was just as unsure about that as she was about what she wanted to do as a hero. She knew that she wanted to help people, that was a given. But what were her reasons for doing it? To put end to her father's title as a vigilante? But after that, then what? She didn't have too much time to dwell on this as Yellow Jacket had presented an idea to the three students. She pointed to the recycling bins and explained that this would be sort of a game for them. They were to collect as much trash on the beach as they could. Mizuki wasn't big on competitions, but she didn't mind working on testing out a few things on exercise. When Yellow Jacket gave the signal start, Karen was already out the gate with a bin and picking up the metal on the beach. Mizuki was prepared to race off as well until the voice in the back of her head said, 'Wait.' Mizuki mentally gave a huge sigh. 'We need to get a move on. Karen is already doing her bit.' Tsuki came into her mind view and continued to speak. 'You already can hop at high speeds and there is a chance that you could catch up to her. But I want to teach you something new. As you can see there is nothing for you to hop off of, thus making your mobility ineffective. This is what Yellow Jacket meant about the whole sea issue. Slow and steady will win this race.''I need you to grab the nearest bin and put it on your back as you do with a backpack,' Tsuki ordered. Mizuki was about to tell her off but decided to hear her out on this one. She grabbed the nearest bin and put it on her back, wrapping it with her metal bandage. 'Yellow Jacket is trying to teach you ingenuity. In most situations, you would need to slow down and do things differently than what you are used to.' Tsuki looked at her partner mentally. 'Now focus the wind energy through your feet, like you normally would. Except think that you are creating a giant ball of air.'Mizuki wasn't sure where she was going with this, but she followed Tsuki's directions. She focused her energy, the flowers on qipao growing green with energy. Her eyes became green in color, and swirling air was forming at the bottom of her feet. After some focus, Mizuik was standing on a giant ball of air. The swirling energy was kicking up sand in every direction. She was glad she was doing this away from the others. "Whoa!" she exclaimed, trying to keep her balance. 'Don't panic,' the spirit replied to her. 'This is known as the 'Elemental Scooter' technique,' Tuski explained mentally. 'We use this to traverse larger areas back in ancient times. Go ahead give it try.' Mizuki focused and use the airball like a skateboard as she raced across the beach. The wind blew against her face as she smiled at the exhilaration she felt. But she knew she had to focus on the main objective. She knew how to transfer energy through her metal cloth bandages and even change their texture. She unwrapped her the bandages around her wrist and transferred her quirk through it. The bandages turned to long strips of stone and she used them as "arms" to pick up the plastic around the area and placed it in the bin on her back. Her goal would be to try to pick as much plastic as she can while maintaining her balance. And if she fell off she would just start over again. Mizuki for the first time trusted herself and took Yellow Jacket's words to heart. She was only trying to help her come out of her shell and leave the comfort zone she was use to. And look at the result of it! This was amazing! She wasn't sure she would win or not, but at least she knew she could do something about the 'sea' issue. 3_CEqvaH

Hayate listened to Mizuki explain her quirk, although they were in the same class Hayate actually didn't know that much about her, so it was interesting hearing her explanation of her quirk, it sounded like a cool quirk. When Yellow Jacket would pose the question of what he would do if his webs were ineffective Hayate would take a moment to think about what he could do without his webs. Up until now that was his go-to option but if he ever had an encounter that involved large amounts of water that could render his webs useless, what could alternatives be? "The webs are only ineffective if they come into contact with water, so if I was working with someone who could fly and was strong enough to hold me I could hitch a ride with them, or if there was like a rescue helicopter that I could hitch a ride on, I can't think of much else other than that though," he said, stumped for ideas, this was something he would definitely have to think about in more detail another time. When it came to their cleanup of the beach it seemed like Yellow Jacket had a way to make their task more interesting, a competition. Hayate would smile at the idea of a competition, he definitely had some competitive spirit in him and would start stretching immediately at the mention of the competition. As Yellow Jacket flew over the beach quicker than Hayate was expecting he scanned around the immediate area planning what things he'd grab, he saw some metal scrap nearby, there was the refrigerator that was mentioned earlier as well as just random trash laying around If I go for that fridge right at the start, it'll eliminate the biggest object and force them to pick up more, that's what I'm going for Hayate would think. As soon as they started Hayate would run straight towards the fridge intent on getting that back as quickly as possible, once he reached it he would flip it over from laying on it's back to it's side and with a bit of effort and maneuvering he'd lift the fridge up and start walking back towards his receptacle

All I can do is be me, whoever that is. Perhaps it was silly to encourage the students to turn their task into a game for no other purpose than "just because", but Hachi found that her students were far more motivated when there was some kind of reward at the end. It didn't need to be a literal reward--just the feeling of knowing you succeeded was one in itself. Her fewer experiences with hero students also implied that they just loved the chance to compete, to show off a bit and be admired for their work. Maybe it was childish. But when something works, you use it. And besides they were still children. They were allowed to have fun. It would be much harder to do the same once they had graduated into heroism proper. When they became the new symbols of justice, when they were truly adults...This sort of innocent play wouldn't come nearly enough.Karen's humility in looking for a self-handicap was, unfortunately, doing her more harm than intended. She was focusing only on the pieces of trash that could be recycled, but there was, unfortunately, far less glass and tin and plastic containers as there were things much too large (and too cumbersome) to be sent to a recycling plant. Not to mention the surprising amount of styrafoam...she was falling behind by a high margin. She would need to either step up her searching or go for an easier route. Hachi wouldn't judge her for it.Mizuki on the other hand was doing quite well. With her Quirk she had created an orb of air and was flying around atop of it. She was spearing quite a lot of trash on the pole-arms she'd created, but more loose pieces of garbage were also getting caught up in the wind, unable to escape the vortex. As pieces got closer to her she could nab them and add them to the bin on her back. A strategy like that might not have been her intention but it was working to her advantage.Hayate, compared to the girls, seemed under the impression that the largest target was the best target. He went right for a fridge embedded in the sand...[BAD LUCK] ...and the moment he lifted it above his head, the door of the thing, broken and loose, swung open and the contents of it poured out onto Hayate's head. It was mostly sand. Wet, cold, clumpy sand, now covering his whole body and burying him up to his knees. Hachi had to place a claw to her mouth to keep a sound inside. She wasn't sure if it was out of concern or a laugh, but poor Hayate. He had only gotten one thing off the beach and it had gotten him filthy. Hopefully the wet sand wouldn't be a deterrent to his Quirk. And also hopefully none of it got into his eyes or mouth. Yuck.-- Right now the score is: Karen: 1 Mizuki: 10 Hayate: 8 7 But Hayate got hit by the bad luck dice, and has lost 1 point, dropping his score to 7! Since the site's die seem to be busted I'll roll for you lot on discord once everyone has posted for the next round. Keep going!

Things weren't going as fast as she expected. Being selective about her targets was to blame for this. There were far more things outside what she aimed for and it wasn't doing her much good to ignore them. It was time to update her approach if she wanted to catch up with the others. She swiftly returned back to where the receptacles originally were, this time grabbing a couple of extra bags with her. Basically she still wanted to do this correctly but instead of aiming for more specific things she was going to grab as much as she could and classify them on the fly. So she had the bin on her back and the extra bags hanging on the sides. It looked awkward and clunky but with her strength and quirk holding them all up was easy enough and didn't throw her off balance. Now she could put her plan in action. She wasn't too concerned about what the others were doing so she decided to just head for the area that none of them touched yet and begin from there. Paper, plastics, metals and the like were scattered around. She was picking them all up and sorting them accordingly among her bags and the disposal bin. It would be nice to win and she was definitely progressing more quickly than earlier. But she still wanted to do things properly.

Mizuki could not believe how well this was working out. Even more so, her new move had an added benefit. It was catching some of the trash in her sphere. Nice! She was able to grab that trash as well and put it into her bin. 'Almost done,' Mizuki thought to herself as she headed back to the starting spot for another bin. 'Just got to finish this last bit-.'
As she was headed back to where Yellow Jacket was standing, she saw that Hayate was having a little bit of trouble. It seemed the fridge he was trying to lift was not in good shape and its door swung open, spilling its contents all over Hayate and burying him knee-deep in sand.
Mizuki was torn. What was more important winning the game or helping out a teammate? ‘You know it’s the right thing to do,’ Tsuki mentally said to her partner. She was right. She couldn’t watch another member suffer like that. Why not help them? Its what Desmoshi would have done.
When she got close enough to Hayate, Mizuki dispersed her air scooter and went over to him. She made sure not to get hit by the fridge if he did drop it to the ground. “Need a hand?” Mizuki asked quietly. She went over and started helping him dig his way out of the sand. “You know if you need help with the fridge, I will be more than happy to help you carry it over,” Mizuki said with a small smile. “I don’t really care about winning. I was just trying to do something new.”
If he allowed it, Mizuki would take off her own bin and help him lift the fridge while encasing her hands and arms in stone to increase her strength. She would help him carry the fridge over to the starting position.
