UA HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED HERO COMBAT CLASS 3-C
The first full day of a new year, homeroom had been a brief affair. The morning sunlight had warmed to the point that it was noticeable on the back of the neck now. The morning dew had given way entirely to a heady mist that hung around ones ankles. The various buildings in ground alpha glittered like gems thanks to the ambient humidity. Here, young quirkers had tested themselves, had grown, had fought and bled to become stronger. It was here that these students; these third years, would face the final phase of their training going into the next part of their lives. It was here that they would become Pro Heroes.
At the center of Ground Alpha a lonely structure had been built over the Summer Vacation; an imposing three-tiered ziggurat made of iron, reinforced glass, and steel. Though it had an official name as designated by the government oversight committee; Training Facilitation Structure UA002; the teachers had come up with a different name for it. Fort Slog. Six stories tall, three hundred and sixty feet long and designed to be modular so that it can be tailored to specific difficulty levels; climbing to the top of the structure from the inside was the ultimate goal of those that entered.
Just outside the entrance to this glistening building, the students of class 3-C found themselves that day; the sun's reflection twinkled against the front of the structure; glancing its reflection off into the sky. Sitting atop the first tier was a figure that peered down at them through the slotted eyes of a horned angry helm. She got to her feet before leaping off the side and landing with a single thud that rattled the ground a bit. She rose to her feet and removed her helmet, tossing it aside and revealing a messy mane of wild yellow-blonde hair. Her green eyes blazed with a barely repressed intensity.
Years one and two had been given the drill sergeant treatment. While it would carry on for a while with year one and taper off sooner for year two. Year three, as far as their teacher hoped, did not need it. "The third and final group, good to see you all here," She said wryly, bearing her teeth with the grin. She was on par in height with most of them but seemed to oddly be about their age, "Name's Taka Keiko, most of you know me as the Pro Hero Aquitaine," She tossed her helmet aside; "As you may have heard through the grapevine, Geist-Sensei is on a major assignment, I'm filling in for him. I spent most of the summer watching the recordings of his training sessions, your sports festival matches...both years...and reviewed academic logs," She nodded to them, "You all deserve to be here right now and you've all toughened up over the past two years," She put her hands on her hips. "I don't you all yet as people or as future heroes, but that's what I'm about to find out." It sounded like she'd said this same thing a couple times now...not exactly a seasoned teacher she had rehearsed it over and over to make sure she got it right.
Her speech, far more winded than for the other two years, continued; "In Advanced Hero Combat you won't be specifically working on your kit, nor will you be developing new techniques. It's your responsibility to begin building an arsenal on your own time or testing it while you're here. Nope, Advanced Hero Combat will be pulling everything you've learned together. Can you fight a villain while protecting civilians? Can you transport a payload while under fire? How is your situational awareness? What are your hard weaknesses and how do you cover them?" She jerked her thumb behind her at the massive building.
"That right there, the teachers and I call it Fort Slog. It's a Danger Room, Obstacle Course, maze, and Observation room all wrapped into one. The whole staff, past and present, your old sensei Geist included, got their heads together to submit ideas for traps and dangers to put in there. Year one will be working hard to earn the right to test themselves against it. Year two will be making runs on the first floor. You guys? Every damn one of you has to make it to the third floor; to the goal, by the end of the year, on Rookie Difficulty. That's my expectation," She crossed her arms behind her back and looked each of them in the eye.
"While we do that, we are going to get your bodies used to running on full for long periods of time. Sometimes a villain will have more stamina than you; you've gotta have the fortitude to muscle through the exhaustion, find some way to recharge, and keep going. But the mental and physical strain is something you can only get used to with experience..." She raised a hand, purple flame danced on it. "My quirk, Heraldry, will heal your body as long as you are within my range. It will also bolster and reinforce your stamina...for Seven Minutes. You will be able to go at full burn for Seven Minutes. Once that time's up, your time is up. All there is to it. You can still overstress your body and it will not dull any pain."
She looked them in the eyes severely; "Geist sincerely believed you guys could handle this without me cutting in to stop you from hurting yourself. I am going to trust him on that. I will not be intervening unless you put your own life at risk; got me? If you get injured because you do something stupid; heal on your own time and make it up in remedial classes, we're past the point of baby gloves and drill sergeant shouting," She nodded to them. "You either deserve the respect of your peers in the pro field, or you don't."
She took a deep breath and began to walk down the line, clapping them each on the shoulder, a heraldric mark formed where she put her hand. When she got to the end of the line she turned to look back at them; "You will be running in pairs, competing with one another. This round you can pick your opponent. Next time, I'll make that call. You have thirty seconds to pick your partner," She nodded and stepped away; "GET ON IT!" She shouted, grinning at them before walking over to the doors of the great structure and waiting for them.
Rule are simple, you can OOCly decide on how you want to split up your groups. Post an initial post here. After everyone has posted I'll do one more response that will list the circumstances of the rooms, its up to you how far you want to go. After that, you can split up into your own threads to do as much as you like. Keiko-Sensei will be cutting in now and then to comment or intervene if necessary. You have seven posts each, afterward, her quirk will run out and time will be up. We'll do one more round of posts here after that wrapping things up. That's it!

Another day, another trip to Ground Alpha – it had been a bit since Tsuji had found himself at the training grounds. But this was a new occasion, the new year, too! He'd been moved over to 3-C, still not sure why such a change had been made, but now his classmates were the likes of Red, Yumi, Feng, people he'd become very well acquainted with during his time at U.A. Not that they were supposed to be favourites, he wanted to befriend everyone at the high school equally, know everyone inside out, that sort of thing. Granted, he'd been a little lax on that part, but it was still a goal worth pursuing. And if becoming a hero was the best way, he was sure to continue on his path, now fully embracing his status as part of the top school year. Today, at Ground Alpha, was to be a lesson on combat. Tsuji had missed that sort of thing, too much written work got on his nerves. Checking out the facility, there was something very much amiss: it seemed that a massive building was now constructed, looking even bigger than the main school building. It looked sort of like an old temple, mixed with some kind of pyramid, it looked straight out of a game. On the top, shadowed by the sun, was a person, surely one of the teachers. Sure enough, as they leapt down and landed in front of the class, it was Keiko, the newer fill-in for Geist, as she mentioned. It was a relief that they weren't to be treated like they were before, especially regarding how... unorthodox Geist could be. The structure was Fort Slog, a bit of an odd name, but something to stick in their minds, surely. Apparently, the entire faculty had gotten stuck in and created numerous obstacles in this place, a lot of effort which could go heavily appreciated. There was only one caveat to this large pooling together of the teaching minds behind U.A.
Geist had helped. He helped make traps. God save us all.
They needed to make it all the way to the top by the end of the year, which was foreboding to the lesson ahead, especially with the aforementioned traps created by one of the most tough teachers at school. But steel willed as always, Tsuji was more than willing to crash through any obstacle ahead of him. And with Keiko's Heraldry quirk, it seemed like that was a definite possibility that he could get far, along with his own strength. The one thing he wanted to do though, was at the very least try the course on the hardest difficulty. Even if he couldn't make a single step, it would keep his resolve up. The feeling of the quirk rushed down Tsuji's body, making his fur fuzz up a moment, until passing down fully through his frame. He felt real good, but this was only to last for seven minutes when they started. And on top of all that, this was a competition exercise! It felt like they had been given the final exam right at the start.
Picking a classmate to go against was fair, but the next time choice would be taken out of the equation. So, after thinking about it, and looking around at each of his friends, it only made sense that the bear would want good, fun, and clean competition. And who better to offer those things than the resident loud jock? “Yo, Kirk – do you want to do this together? Call it a sporting opportunity, huh?” he said, beating his chest with his right paw, and pointing his fist towards the athletic student.

Feng is in a bit of a habit of trying new things without giving it much thought. It was a habit that she developed to keep moving on, but it was quite troublesome due to how quickly she can commit to things. This time she picked up a peculiar pair of cat ears and wore them on the way to the house. It was at first cute, but then she started to develop the habit of making some of her words cattish in mannerisms. Which then leads to a domino effect of various decisions that has her holding herself back in terms of messing with her friends. Some of which involved practicing pun themed flirty remarks for the future.
FAST FORWARD TO THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, and already she can feel the year was going to be different. All with moving classes and getting into a class with a bunch of people she knows. Tsuji, Red, Yumi, Kirk, were all names she is familiar with as she got well acquainted with them over the years she has been here. Though homeroom was a brief deal as they were all told to go to Ground Alpha for the well tried and true, combat training. It was something she looked forward to each and everything time a teacher would come up with. But this time, it was more grand as she recalled during her runs that they would be building something huge for this. It got her blood pumping as she awaited to see who is hosting this lesson.Aptly named Fort Slog, it was a place that inspired great energy into Feng as she immediately wanted to play in it. IMMEDIATELY she felt a fierce gaze on her as she looked up to see the new fill-in for Geist. Keiko is her name and she seemed to be as fired up as anyone else as she stood atop the box. She had a lot to make up for due to her remembering how fierce his lessons were.
The speech was rather long winded but Feng got most of the points as most of her gaze was directed at the massive playground before her. Geist was always the type to go overboard on traps and tricks so she was giddy to see what she had planned.A Marathon through a death trap is the type of thing to her horses running. What kind of traps are in there? Who is she going to race? How many times can they run it? It was all sorts of questions that filled Fengs mind until, “Feng….why do you always enjoy putting yourself in danger?”, Fei chimed in her head as Feng’s eyes were glowing as if she found the lost city of gold.”For the thrill and challenge of course!”, she answered back in her head as she jogged in place. It shows that she was pretty damn eager to get the race under way.
It was then the time of choosing a partner came and boy was it something. Her heart was racing and her eyes were darting as there were too many things to think about at once. There was only thirty seconds and she had to hurry as she had only so much time to waste. She had two choices really as she saw Kirk and Tsuji pair up.It was either going to be Red or Yumi and it was a very tough choice due to her knowing me more. She wants to race Red but she also knows he is gonna be a smug prick about winning out due her knowing he can outpace her. Yumi is obviously going to be the toughest partner due to her lightning speed..but that part also makes her the most challenging. She wants to make up for the tourney and by god she will give her an actual fun match and not a train wreck of emotions. But as the clock was running down, Feng went for a running start and set her sights on her partner of choice.
“Nyah-umi, Lets race!”, she said in her cattish tone as she went and hugged her read haired friend. A slight tingly feeling can be felt but can be mostly from the cat ears. Feng was back to her usual self and this is the race that is going to be one to remember as she is both ready and wearing cat ears.

Yumi… wasn’t sure what she’d been expecting from her final year of practical hero studies but ‘fort slog’ wasn’t it. It at least helped anyone who still hung on to the image of the old combat hero Geist get a fresh new image in their head of what they’d be in store for but in reality Yumi was still a little thrown by how extremely they were being thrown into this third year, a nervous chuckle leaving her as she idly fixed the edges of her moderate weather hero suit (Midrift and fingertips exposed with a gap between her shorts and leggings, still not exposing much beyond that-).
“This is… well it’s something.” She let out from the middle of the class as the demonstration of what they’d be doing got up and running, though even with the explanation it seemed they’d mostly be running in blind. Yumi took a deep, slow breath. She felt like from what she understood it wouldn’t just be traps testing their reflexes but maybe there’d also be dummies to save or they couldn’t progress? It was hard to get a hang on things really. It was described as being some culimination of everything they’d learned but… that was a lot of possible things they may encounter.
She glanced about the room just in time to spot Feng rushing towards her eagerly and even giving her a tight hug, Yumi feeling the girl’s… extra appendages brushing up against her cheek. Was she wearing cat ears? That was… hahahah! Well it had her giggling at least, wrapping an arm around the back of Feng’s head and toying with her hair between the ears in a half-sided hug.
“I’d have went with Ny-umi, but good enough.” She teased back with a bright smile, turning a hand back down them and patting their back as she started to walk towards ‘the fort’. It seemed they’d been the quickest team to pair up so they might get first run of things. “We just get ready over her right teach?~” She’d chime out with a bright smile, facing this with a little more ferver since Feng seemed to be challenging her in such a good mood, rather than the downtrodden look she used to get when trying to compare herself to and beat the lightning red head.
When they were given the go ahead, Yumi gave Feng a gentle nod. “Ready when you are.” She began, lowering herself down into her typical ready stance. Her hands flowed across the ground infront of her, spreading out so only her fingertips were touching the ground. A slow, calming breath flowing through her lungs, pushing back one leg as the other remained bent beneath her, each on their tip toes ready to burst forward. She didn’t know how much speed would matter here, but before they were even given the go ahead she’d make sure her quirk was ready, a blue coating of energy surging across her body, her ponytail flicking left and right like a lightning bolt behind her head, Yumi only reaching up briefly to pull down her new goggles and prepare herself.
“Ready!~”

Time really flies when your headspace is busy. Last year had pretty much charged by with how busy Kirk had been with all mental gymnastics. In that regard, Kirks summer vacation was more spent on getting back into the swing of things proper, with sports festival passing and his grandpa left behind. Kirk was finally ready to take on a proper challenge again! Something to push him through the limits and make him get enveloped into the action! And heck, as always, get him into a hell of a work out!
And with the building that had been built during summer vacation, it was clear SOMETHING was atleast coming their way! Kirk had been keeping on the dang ominous building every time he had jogged past it. I mean come on, it literally loomed like some big ol spooky shade over the calm U.A grounds! You'd think some villain had invaded and decided to be the least conspicuous about his takeover plans! Standing in front of it, it just looked even more menacing, with a lady with devil horned helmet hopping down... a person he had not yet seen before. He instinctually rubbed his chin and glared head on at the blondie that was revealed from under said helmet. Usually he was the most serious of the group when handled by authority, but this time he couldn't help but feel like this was some club activity, with a younger teacher and all.
"Fort SLOG, Huh?" Kirk couldn't help but let out a mild giggle. "That's like calling the worlds greatest roller coaster the BORE!" He couldn't help but laugh a little. Admittedly, it was made by geist... the class he had taken under his tutelage was the payload one. That certainly wasn't a slog in his eyes, that's for sure... Heck, the rest of the explanation just seemingly proved how much of a horrible name FORT SLOG was for this experience! Kirk was pretty damn excited for this! He was already hopping in place, clapping his hands, and getting prepped. Apparently the task was to get on the third floor on... rookie difficulty. "...Okay I feel genuinely like our class is being a bit underestimated!" But with all the words the teacher was saying, Kirk couldn't help but just shrug. Maybe she was just new with the language? Maybe the place was supposed to be called fort RAD and difficulty RADICAL!
A quick pat on the shoulder left him with a mark... "So team-ups eh?" Hmmm... who should he pair himself up with? Honestly, he was feeling like trying something new! Someone exciting, someone really interesting! ...And like directly wished, the new student of the class came up to him and asked him if he wanted to test his mettle with him! "Heck yeah, new dude!" Kirk proceeded to straight up the grab the guys paw, and shook it tightly, with his grip being about as tight as his smile! "Gotta teach ya how the original C-CLASS works after all! It's a bit of a roughhousing, not unlike this fort Rad here!" Tsuji was one of those students who he had always seen around, but never directly communicated with. It was a shame. Wrestling with an actual god damn bear would make for hell of a training session! And now, this offered him the perfect chance to test his limits! See if he was up for the mantle! "...ALthough uh, I gotta ask... with all that fur you don't have a risk of overheating do ya?! Ain't nothing more frustrating than sweating yourself to death amid a session, you know?" Just a bit of precompetition smack talk, with a side of actual worry. He wanted this to be fun, not painful for the lad.
With his suit up, and all his sports tools ready to go, with his classic ball strap and a pair of handles poking out of the pouch Kirk was as ready to go as the next guy. "Remember dudes and dudettes! Keep it clean!"

"......Well that was an entrance, Teach." Red'd joke, watching the Armoured Hero jump down from the top of the brand spanking new death trap UA had built for them. Of course, Red didnt know if it was one yet, but considering that it was a brand new building, that'd been brought here for combat training, and GEIST had been their previous teacher for this kinda stuff, it gave him certain....expectations for what this was gonna be. After all, last time he'd had to go to something custom tailored for UA kids, it had been the race a few months back.......he still got flashbacks to almost getting skewered by a mecha railgun sometimes. But they had a new teacher, so the odds of that happening again were low....right? There was no way that this was as bad as that.....right?"
"....Ok, wondered where Geist had gone.....wait you watched....both years?" Red would mutter to himself, starting to sweat just a little bit. He really hoped she meant that she'd watched the vids of just this years sports fest when she said that and not.....not both of the ones he'd been involved in.....Exhibition fest might have gone decently for him but uhhh.....he really didnt wanna remember his first day at UA. Almost getting run over by a truck cause your sister thought she'd be a cheeky cunt wasnt the best first impression.........And there goes my head aching again....fuckin great.
Either way, he quickly shook it off and managed to catch what the place actually was.....though Kirk getting loud briefly brought the headache back. It was too early for this. But he got what they were doing here, atleast. Getting put through the wringer to see how well they adapted to it, how long they could last, how fast they could work, that kinda stuff. It kinda reminded him of Geist boot camp, except this time it was localised in a building and he wasnt the only one getting the shit beat outta him......He may have smiled a little bit remembering it.
Though, once he heard what their actual assignment was, his eyebrow quirked up a bit. ....Rookie Difficulty?....that seems a bit low but....wait....what difficulty are the other years doing it on?......hmmm...." He'd think, while Keiko set the ground rules. They were gonna be under the influence of her quirk, which meant that they only had 7 minutes to complete the whole tower. Looking at its structure, every floor was half the size of the other but.....floor one was a football field. And it was two stories tall.
So floor one was technically two football fields, floor two was one football field, and floor three was half a field....so they had to run down three and a half football fields in seven minutes......while getting shot at, blown up, electrified, any kind of trap UA could think up.....Geist had been involved, after all.
While he was mid calculation though, she gave em all the "Im not helpin you if you push too far" spiel, and started to walk down the line. First Tsuji, then Feng, then Yumi, Then Kirk. When she got to him though, he knew he had to ask a couple questions. "Hey teach, real quick.....what difficulty are years one and two doing this on? Cause i have a feeling you calling it Rookie isnt exactly honest about how difficult it is in there....right?" He'd ask, lookin her dead in the eyes.
He had a hunch that there was a couple words that were supposed to go before Rookie here. It couldnt have been the lowest setting, after all, other wise the lower years were gonna clear the first floor easy next year. "Oh, and uhhh.....If we wanna run this on our own time, do we need to ask you for your quirk or can we just....go in ourselves to see how far we can go without it?" He'd ask another question.....after all, the final exam wouldnt let them have help or anything for this, right?
....3 floors, 6 stories, 7 minutes.....2 minutes 20 seconds for each floor, 1 minute 10 seconds for each story. Thats the par time. No way any of us are gonna make that first time so......I've got 7 minutes to get to the end of the first floor, and gather info about the place.....modular, so I wont get to map it out too easily but.....I can probably manage for now. He'd do some quick math in his head, already starting to devise a plan on how to effectively clear this place later down the line....He was probably gonna need it, after all.
There was just one problem with his calculations though. He may have forgotten that they were supposed to be teaming up for this. By the time he was done, people were already in teams. Tsuji was with Kirk, so both of them were out....thankfully, for the latter, but Yumi and Feng were also out too, since they'd teamed up while he wasnt looking.....So he was just...standing there....on his own......not teamed up with anyone......
Boy, aint this a great reminder of my time before UA, huh? I can bloody feel someone laughing at me already. He'd think to himself. He'd be right, both the voice in the back of his head and the powers above were laughin there arses off right now. Maybe if he got really lucky Keiko would show mercy on him and let him go with Feng and Yumi but......he had a feeling that wasnt gonna happen so he was just gonna have to wait and see what happened.
God, he hoped he didnt have to go in with her so he could be the first guneia pig for the damn place.....though getting to set the par time might give him a slight advantage but.....then he wouldnt have a target to try and beat......

UA's version of homeroom was a little different from other schools. For one, most schools don't drag you out into a giant building that hadn't even existed last semester for the beginning of classes. The last classes of the year, their last year. It was difficult to believe, that they were in the final stretch UA, and it was significantly harder for Jace to take. The only way he could feel about this, any of this was unprepared. He wasn't ready for the final year, he wasn't ready to face fort slog, he wasn't ready in anything because he was still weak. And as he looked up from his moping to see a figure jump off the building, bringing Jace out of his self-destructive mindset just long enough to gasp as his eyes raised. He was aware Geist-sensei was away, been called to duty as it were, the entire school had been buzzing about it. But this was his first time meeting his replacement. Aquataine. His head tilted at the famous hero, he knew about her but hadn't expected to be learning from her, his interest bubbling due to his fanboyish nature for things hero and vigilante related.
But the bubble burst just as soon as it'd come, doomed the moment Aquataine went into business, and started out in an attempt to encourage them by saying how they all deserved to be here. Except that wasn't the truth. Jace didn't deserve to be here, not really. And as she continued it only got worse and worse. He didn't take the news that they'd no longer actually be training on their abilities and skills well, his eyes rising once more, but this time instead of curiosity the surprise was mixed instead with fear. They were expected to do it on their own instead...expected to be competent enough to know exactly what to do, skilled enough they didn't need someone working with them, guiding them through the movements to be able to become better. But if they weren't good enough for that....Jace didn't notice his increased heart rate or the fact his breaths were coming out quicker than before as Aquataine brought up scenarios they might eventually meet.
Advanced Hero Combat will be pulling everything you've learned together. But I barely know anything...
Can you fight a villain while protecting civilians? Can you transport a payload while under fire? No...
How is your situational awareness? What are your hard weaknesses and how do you cover them? I don't...
In his mental spiral he couldn't recognize any of his own skills, his talents and abilities. He couldn't see himself accomplishing any of the tasks, the challenges, or even having a grasp on the skills brought up, not even being able to put together the obvious conclusion of how his enhanced hearing and sense of smell gave him extreme situational awareness by default.
But Aquataine continued, revealing the new building as Fort Slog, and à brainchild of many people, including Geist sensei. Normally this would catch the ginger boys interest, especially as she brought up her own quirk, but right now he could only really focus on her explaining on how her quirk worked and the rules of the challenge. But he couldn't hold back the quiet yet panicked, hyperventilated gasp that came as she said how either they deserved respect or didn't. Jace knew exactly where he lied in regards to that.
And as Jace hovered inches away from a mental breakdown, everyone else in the class started breaking off into their groups. Surprisingly for such an introverted kid, Jace actually was familiar with the majority of people in this class. Yusaku and Kirk, probably the two people he interacted with most in school, Yusaku even getting the shy boy to room with him. Yumi, whom had been the first person he met and given him a tour and comforted him during his first day nerves. And then Jace proceeded never to interact with her again, the thought of which only created more stress. He really was fond of her, but he was so pathetic he couldn't have even bothered to talk to her again even when they managed to have same class together.
And lastly there was Tsuji, he only really knew him from the terrifying fight against him, so he couldn't say that him pairing up with Kirk upset him too much other than the fact that now Kirk was himself unavailable. He noticed Yumi pairing up with the other red headed girl he didn't know. But he did over hear the red headed girl, and how she called Yumi Nyah-Umi. At first he didn't understand, but as he saw the cat ears he put it together. And it only made him more upset, why would she wear cat ears to class. It wasn't like they didn't all use their quirks together, even if he was unfamiliar with the people it wasn't hard to put a face to the quirk. And he knew her quirk wasn't cat related. So was she just making fun of him now by wearing cat ears? Was it a joke? Or was she trying to say something? ...Why does everyone keep picking on me... The boy teared up slightly at that point as he quietly whispered to himself, quickly wiping them away before anyone could notice.
But as his mood got worse and worse, he did notice a blonde boy standing alone not paired up. Jace didn't know him too well, and Jace even in his best of moods wouldn't actually approach anyone to team up. So much like the blonde boy, he stayed where he was, alone and waiting for someone else to approach, the only difference being the palpable stress on his face as he tried not to have a breakdown their first day of class.

Yusaku would be quick on the move. He had been listening on and off at the various things the new teach said, not really buying into the whole "you're worthy" speech. Honestly speaking, saying stuff like that didn't really help. It only served to make overconfident people more overconfident and less confident people less confident overall.
Case and point, Kirk and Jace.
Now, he didn't care about Kirk in the slightest. The guy was in his own world so it was only a matter of time until that bubble popped. What he was worried about was Jace. Yusaku had been observing the flaming cat boy for quite a while since he had agreed to become his roommate. He knew the guy far more than mr.Hero over there spewing stuff about how expectations needed to be met etc etc. He knew that with each word, Jace would get more and more discouraged. He had made the same mistake before.
His roommate was quite the shy introvert type. Being put on the spot like that in front of people, rightfully scared him just as much as it scared Yusaku way back when he even lied to people about being a robot. If miss Keiko truly had studied their materials, then she would have known about Jace's uneasyness and his lack of a competitive mindset. At that moment in time, the robotic cat was more focused in helping Jace grow out of his shell a bit. He wasn't there to win competitions, he was there to learn how to help people. That was what a hero was about.
Besides, the whole point of the lesson was quite contradictory and stupid in his own right. For what reason would they need to compare themselves to other students when they had completely different quirks? Yumi was leagues beyond everyone else when it came to quirk development. She could mop the floor with anyone around there. How was that a fair comparison? It'd be hardly a challenge for her.
Not only that, but what use would be trying to go all out in an obstacle course if Keiko's quirk was supporting them? As far as he remembered from his human time, to train stamina you gotta let the body get used to the strain. What's the point in stopping time after an external aid is no longer able to sustain you? And that was while leaving aside the fact that he had no stamina, so for him it was simply a matter of having charged batteries or not. He seriously doubted her quirk even worked with machines. Wouldn't that give all of the other students an advantage over him? Yeah, the more he thought about it, the more it looked to him this stuff had just been cobbled up on the spot to give the third years something to do while their Teach was absent.
Yusaku didn't comment on any of it though. He didn't particularly care about the whole ordeal. He didn't care if he failed the class either. He would just do what was told and be done with it. Then he could go back with his regular training/studying. He remained there, neutral look on his face and very happy about the fact that miss Keiko would never be able to tell how he felt through his expression alone. The wonders of being a robot. Then, it came the time to choose a partner/rival and Yusaku knew exactly what to do.
Approaching Jace, Yusaku lightly tapped the boy's shoulder with his paw-hand. "Don't worry Jace, we can do the course together if you want." He chimed in an optimistic tone. "You can wear me too, if you think this is going to be too hard." He added. "Would you like that?"

Chikako was the kid in the background some people did not even realize was around; the background character it was no surprise that many of the classmates were quick to choose others and not her. The few that did know her, that haven't left U.A, only knew her as a coward which was a true statement. She was there, but she was not. Honestly, she did not belong here; her quirk she barely managed to control and her power in compared to the talented and hard working peers of hers; honestly she still did not find her calling despite being here for three years now. 'So much time to do nothing, to be absolutely nothing. Save people? I barely saved one at the festival. my only life i can say I saved and that was only because haruto was around. Combat? I haven't had a real fight minus the one with krahno, an underclassmen that I had a huge advantage over! I ran from fighting to the point of only doing rescue quirk; beat this thing? never!', she said with her anxiety rising to the the point it was unbearable.
She shook and looked around, the groups were already pairing up and not a soul even seemed to notice that she was there. A tear was forming into her left eye and fell down her cheek as the stress was building up and she wiped the tear away; she promised she wouldn't cry to much anymore. "I guess tenbi and me can be our own duo", she said softly to herself as she looked down to the floor; speaking words that her own ears could not hear. She entered the sickle mode of her shield and looked at the teacher; there was only seven people someone had to be the loser in this game after all, why not better then the one that has a summoning quirk.

Aquitaine couldn't help but restrain a bit of a smile at the reaction that rustled through the students. They knew exactly the kind of danger they were getting into. That was good. Fear keeps you alive. She walked through the group, nodding to each of them as she imparted her Heraldry to them. Most kept quiet, thinking about what was to come, but Kirk couldn't help himself. She'd heard enough about Kirk to know that he couldn't keep his mouth shut. She grinned at him and tilted her head; "Yeah? You think you're being underestimated?" She laughed, patting him once on the shoulder and imparting her powers onto him. She kept walking only stopping when red spoke up. She stopped and stared at him for a few heartbeats. She liked the look in his eyes.
Then he asked a damn good question; "Finally! Someone asks the right question," Aquitaine put her hands on her hips and looked at the others; stepping back a pace and gesturing to Fort Slog. "Fort Slog has several difficulties...
(insert anime style diagram here)
The first and lowest is 'Basic', a few of the first years are going to attempt it on basic this year as well as most of the second years. The traps are restrained and the number of active rooms is reduced slightly," She continued, and then put her hands behind her back; "The second level is Normal," She said, "Normal is fairly rudimentary; if you did well in the first year you'd be fine. All the second years will be starting on normal and working their way to trying 'Hard'. Which is about what you might imagine 'hard' with the minds behind it being like..." She paused and then looked up at the building.
"For your first attempt as third years though, you are going to try it on Rookie. Pro Hero Rookie. A step above hard," She turned and looked back at Red and then at Kirk. "Does that sound good to you boys?" She asked, a grin spreading across her face; "Because if you think we're underestimating you, I could call it for a day and you guys could try 'Pro' tomorrow if you like?" She smarted, making sure the point she was getting across was very, very clear. This wasn't a game and she'd put up with no sass. They were one year away for fighting for the sake of the people; they didn't have any room for teenage idiocy any more, they gave that up when they signed up for UA. Either live up to her expectations, or fall behind.
"If you lot wanted a normal life you chose the wrong place to go to school!" She shouted, "I have high bloody expectations for you lot, now kick some ass," She said, pointing to the door. "I'll be watching each and every one of you on the feed. This is your chance to influence my final picture of your starting point of the year. Make it count!" She said, "Now! Begin! We'll start in order, Tsuji's team! You're up!"
