UA HIGH SCHOOL INTERMEDIATE HERO COMBAT CLASS 2-AThe first full day of a new year. The sky was beginning to wane a bit, leaning towards two. The heat was still intense; battering against the grassy field and the small collection of buildings known as Ground Alpha. It was here that young quirkers could test their limits and grow to one day become great heroes. It was also here that they would experience some of the most unforgiving and relentless training available in the modern world. Such is what is needed to prepare these young people to take on the growing threat of villainy.
At the center of Ground Alpha a lonely structure had been built over the Summer Vacation; an imposing three-tiered ziggurat made of iron, reinforced glass, and steel. Though it had an official name as designated by the government oversight committee; Training Facilitation Structure UA002; the teachers had come up with a different name for it. Fort Slog. Six stories tall, three hundred and sixty feet long and designed to be modular so that it can be tailored to specific difficulty levels; climbing to the top of the structure from the inside was the ultimate goal of those that entered.
Just outside the entrance to this gleaming building the students of class 2-A found themselves that day; the sun's reflection casting off the rear of the structure more than the front, giving them a better look at it. Sitting atop the first tier was a figure that peered down at them through the slotted eyes of a horned angry helm. She got to her feet before leaping off the side and landing with a single thud that rattled the ground a bit. She rose to her feet and removed her helmet, tossing it aside and revealing a messy mane of wild yellow-blonde hair. Her green eyes blazed with a repressed fury.
"Get in line you lot! Welcome to Intermediate Hero Combat!" The woman in the armor called, clasping her arms behind her back and glaring at each and every one of them. She took in their faces for a heartbeat before breaking out into a wild grin; "Name's Taka Keiko, some of you biters might know me as the Pro Hero Aquitaine," She said, stepping to the right and peering at them. "Here's the short version, as you might now Gesit-Sensei is on one hell of an assignment and might be away for a while. I'm filling in for him. I know, it sucks, I've seen the training videos. All of them," She laughed; "So lets get right down to it. Like I said I've watched your training videos, I've watched every recording of your Sports Festival matches, and reviewed your academic logs," She smiled; "But I don't know you yet, as a person, and as a future hero."
She took a deep breath and pointed at the massive building behind her; "That right there? The teachers and I call it Fort Slog. It's a danger room, obstacle course, maze, and observation room all wrapped up into one. The whole staff, past and present, got their heads together to submit ideas for traps and dangers to put in there. And guess what you lot get to do today?"
She smiled wickedly and marched toward them. "You lot have thirty seconds to break up into teams of two or three. Everyone needs a pair. Your group will work; together to get as far into the first floor as possible. There are a minimum of thirty six rooms on the first floor..." Her hand began to glow with a purple flame.
"My quirk, Heraldry, will heal your body and keep it going as long as you are within range. While under it's effects you can go full power for up to seven minutes. SEVEN MINUTES do you understand? Once times up, that's it, game over, I'll prepare a score for you. If you go overboard even while under the effects of this," she held up her hand; "You can still overstress your body, it also will not dull pain! You are not invincible with this damn thing on!" She tapped her ear with her non-fiery hand. "I will know if you do, I will come in, and I will shut your run down, ARE WE CLEAR?!" She barked, and nodded to the massive doors while she walked down the line and clapped each of them on the shoulder. A violet heraldric mark formed on their shoulders symbolizing the power of the quirk. "As soon as you begin working your muscles the quirk will kick in, one team at a time, GET THE LEAD OUT! You're second years now! Act like it!"
Rule are simple, you can OOCly decide on how you want to split up your groups. Post an initial post here. After everyone has posted I'll do one more response that will list the circumstances of the rooms, its up to you how far you want to go. After that, you can split up into your own threads to do as much as you like. Keiko-Sensei will be cutting in now and then to comment or intervene if necessary. You have seven posts each, afterward, her quirk will run out and time will be up. We'll do one more round of posts here after that wrapping things up. That's it!

Desmoshi was excited when he first the huge building towering on the field. So this is the new training structure that everyone was talking about. At was huge, magnificent building compared to rocky terrain of Ground Alpha. The students were piled outside the building, taking it all in and wondering what today's combat training had to with this. Desmoshi couldn't help but to feel excited about it. That was until he saw who the instructor was.
'Hey it's Taka-sense.... Oh,' Desmoshi thought to himself. 'Hopefully she forgot about the whole cieling thing during my first day at UA.' Ame took this time to chime in. 'Don't worry about it kid,' he said to his host. 'She probably forgot all about that. Besides it was an accident.' Ame was right. It was new year with a fresh start. And this time him and his sister have a fresh start. Too bad they couldn't use their new hero gear yet. According to Yojin, the twins needed more practice with it alone before attempting to use it in real combat training. So they opted out in wearing their UA gym clothes and support gear provided by the school. Desmoshi especially loved the new fingerless gloves with gold knuckles on it. It was blue and white in terms of color, and it sported the "UA" symbol on the back of it.
Taka-sensei told the students what today's training was about. It was focused around the new building called Fort Slog, a building that was six stories high and filled with traps. mazes, and obstacle courses. Their tasks was to partner up with one or two students and attempt to clear the first floor. The catch- there was thirty-six rooms to go through and who know what was in them. However, Desmoshi had the perfect two in mind. He looked over to his twin, Mizuki and his friend, Yang. "So how about it, you guys?" he asked the two girls.

'Why are we always in crowds,' Mizuki thought to herself as she made her way to the training grounds. She was walking with her brother, Desmoshi and her new found friend, Yang towards the newly built building sitting in the center of training field. 'That looks lovely,' Tsuki commented in Muzuki's mind. 'I wonder why they would put this here.' 'For hero training I guess,' Mizuki replied to her inner self. 'Still, there has to be a catch. Best to be on guard.'
Mizuki really badly wanted to use her new hero gear for this combat training. Instead she opted for her usual UA gym clothes and her steel toe combat boots. It was a great wonder on how Support students built their items to help others. The boots were just like Desmoshi gloves, serving to regulate the power of their quirk as best as it can. With the new gear, there would be no worries of wearing out over time- unless by combat.
Speaking of which, their combat instructor, Taka-sensei, gave them the rules on how combat would work. According to her the building was known as Fort Slog, designed to train students on how to perform and operate their quirks in situations. Although looked magnificent on the outside, Mizuki knew better. There was probably traps and obstacles throughout.
Which is why when Taka-sensei announced teams, she was glad that Desmoshi picked her and Yang to join him. Nothing against her brother. He was wise when it came to certain, and if was real danger he would actually stop to think. However, when it came to training, Desmoshi was more of a 'charge forward' type of guy- which was good in most aspects. But seeing the sinister smile of the combat teacher, this was probably not it.
"Desmoshi," Mizuki said softly in a deadpan voice. "If we do this we have to be very careful. There is no telling what's in there." Desmoshi smile was replaced with a confident, serious expression as he nodded his understanding towards his sister. "Yang are you in?" she asked her friend.

Jack's heart raced rapidly as the first class of the new year was about to begin. He couldn't help but reflect all that had come in the last year. How much the dragon boy had grown and matured...even if the transition wasn't exactly completed yet. He had most definitely grown as a person and, more importantly, as a hero-in-training. While he wasn't exactly the most mature socially, he took his training at the very least seriously. That's why, even before they had all arrived, Jack's body was steeled for what was to come. He wore his hero suit for this exercise, of course: the sleek, dark cyan color mixed in with the dark brown fur around his neck and the black and white cloth of the suit underneath. This was hardly just the look of Jack Orion; this was the look of Sirius, the Dragon Hero. He smirked a bit at the thought of that, prefering that name to "the Dragon King".
As they approached, Jack could immediately recognize the heroine in front of them: Taka Keiko, also known as Aquitaine. He had a brief knowledge about her; as he had said before, he was a bit of a hero nerd. She was also, as he could recall, Yasashi's mother. Given how tough she already acted in the U.A. chat, Jack felt a twinge of anxiety, knowing fully well that what was to come was going to be difficult. Nonetheless, his mind was quickly snapped out of it, his eyes going sharp and yellow for a moment. Whatever was to come...he would face it as he did everything else. With 110% and then some!
Their teacher would briefly begin to explain the absence of Geist, who was apparently on a bit of a rough mission at the moment. Jack felt a bit worried at that, hoping that their teacher would be ok. Then again...it's Geist. He would probably be fine, right? Considering how hard he had worked them before, it would be a surprise if anything even fazed him in the slightest. Nonetheless, Keiko would explain the purpose of the building behind them. Fort Slog, as she called it, was a place full of mazes, traps, and everything in between.
However, what made Jack perk up was the mention of Keiko using her Quirk to invigorate all of them, allowing them to go full power constantly for 7 minutes. After those 7 minutes were up, the exercise ended. A small amount of time, sure...but if they were going at 100% or even more than that, it would likely be worth mulitple days' worth of training. Jack couldn't help but let black and white plasma surge across his body for a moment, looking like a mix of fire and lightning. He took a deep breath, already knowing that this would likely be a hard class.
With that, their teacher would give them about 30 seconds to go and team up with one or two people. Jack's mind immediately shifted to Karen, who, along with himself, was probably the strongest of their year. As a combo, they would likely be deadly to whatever challenge they came across. With that in mind, Jack would begin to approach the blue-haired girl. "Heya, Karen! Would you wanna team up with me for this? I feel like we could get a lot done together!" he chirped, smiling widely with his sharp, draconic teeth.

Yang followed the masses. She was a bit curious where everyone was going. It looked like the training ground. It has been hard for Yang to adjust to the daily schedule. Classes, lunch, and Combat training. Rinse and repeat. She sighed unsure what exactly they would be doing today but who knows. However, she was barely out of the school uniform. She was wearing a tee shirt and the pants bottom to the boy's uniform while carrying her giant book bag. Students and staff were littered every where. It was amazing so many people where here at the academy. It was also very over whelming for Yang. She wasn't quite used to being in a crowd. However, could she really be afraid? Everyone else here were either her classmates or her teachers. Then again, did she really know these people? She could see some faces that she recognized but she only really knew two people at most on a personal level. Eventually everyone came to a stop. There was a giant building in the middle of the training grounds. Why hasn't Yang never noticed this before? Before Yang could really ponder that thought a woman named Taka Keiko came to the center of everyone's attention. Yang could tell some people were beaming with excitement before Ms. Keiko spoke. She started to speak about watching the students. It made Yang a bit curious, if Ms. Keiko seen her as well? Ms. Keiko spoke of a challenge that this class can endure. It was called Fort Slog. It had multiple rooms but of course that didn't catch her interest. What caught her interest was the fact that they could use their quirk for a full 7 minutes with very little penalties. They have a few minutes to pick their groups before it started. Before she realized it both Desmoshi and Mizuki approached her. Or maybe they've been there the entire time? Yang wasn't sure. She wasn't really paying attention to her surroundings once Ms. Keiko started speaking. It seems like they wanted to be a team. She smiled and dropped her book bag. This is when she began to ruffle inside of it and pulled out her weapons and her belt. She put the belt on and holstered her weapons. Her hazel eyes with gray fleeks then glanced at her friends as she smiled slightly. "Yes, I'm in" Yang spoke softly letting both Desmoshi and Mizuki know that she did want to participate in this. She was happy that she had friends to experience this.

Being out there on the training grounds with the whole class and their teacher really helped set in that they were starting the new school year. There were some fresh faces around - classmates who had transferred in late that she didn't know too well aside from their names. But the saddest thing was that very few of the faces they started with at this time last year were still present until today. There were various circumstances and reasons for that, but the bottom line was that it couldn't be helped. Even their instructors had undergone some changes. As evident from the one standing before them, the familiar Geist-sensei was no longer around. Well the official word was he was on a new assignment but who actually knew where the man was. Filling in for him was an equally capable hero at least whom she recognized from guise and name. There was another new sight present. Well it wasn't exactly new as it had been under construction for a while now. But today it looked like they were finally going to find out what it was. Not that she didn't already have a few guesses. A s Aquitaine would so aptly explain, it was a new indoor training facility. They have had a few others like it in the past but most of them were quickly made and intended to be used only a few times. This one was far bigger and seemed like it was meant to be something that would last. She couldn't help but feel excited about this new challenge. The objective was to clear as much of the first floor as possible with their partner of choice. Personally she would have preferred to try it solo but there was likely a lesson in mind for doing things this way. There weren't many chances to work together with someone else anyway so she wasn't against the idea. The question was who to grab along for the ride. She was pondering this when a familiar voice called out to her to make the decision for her. She smiled. He wasn't the first one to come to mind, but it was certainly an interesting choice. "I don't mind. Don't you think this team would be a little unfair though Jack-kun?~"She would say chuckling. She didn't really have any objections whoever asked her but she just couldn't help teasing a bit. "But I can see you're quite excited about this huh?~"Unlike her classmate, she had simply donned the school tracksuit for today. While waiting for further instructions she would begin doing her stretches. Whatever was waiting for them inside was probably going to be a challenge regardless. She understood they were meant to go at full power thanks to their teacher's quirk but that wasn't really her style, being the more 'wait and see' type. But with Jack around perhaps would give her the opportunity to do so. She had a feeling that even if she didn't tell him too, he would lead on ahead anyway when things started. And that was fine. If the bait was willing then she had no complaints.

The new year's arrival hadn't been a surprise, obviously, but it had still been odd to Graham, realizing that he'd been away from home for a full year. Not the slightest hint of homesickness either, though he did miss his more spacious bedroom. The time he'd spent here was unlike anything before, and as he continued to grow more capable, who could say what sorts of things he and his classmates would get up to in the two years to follow? The prospect was exciting, undeniably so.
Today would be the start of those next two years, then, with their first class. Something that stood out to Graham was the number of new students, ones who'd entered around the end of the previous year. Unfortunately, he'd not yet had the chance to sit down with them properly, but the time for that would come. There were still plenty of familiar faces as well, fortunately, although they did end up losing a few students over the previous year's course.
On the other hand, the teacher wasn't a familiar one. The reason for a new face/helmet in the combat department was a bit ominous, but it made sense. Compared to Geist, she seemed similarly to-the-point, at least, though a little less the brooding type. Whatever the case, she was sure to have the necessary expertise. For today, she'd be sending the class into this imposing, brutalist structure of a tower. He'd seen it from a distance while it was being built up, though standing in front of it certainly presented a more... oppressive atmosphere. Fort Slog, it was called, and though the name was a bit rough, so was the structure itself.
For the occasion, Graham had chosen to bench the suit he'd take to the Sports Festival, not quite satisfied with it. For the moment, the number of carbon accessories on his person was a bit more limited: only a few throwing knives strapped around his waist, along with a relatively thick pair of gloves. Last but not least, a set of carbon-fibre soles inserted into his running shoes. The gloves-and-soles combination allowed him to fly with relative ease, though the gloves were mainly for stabilisation while the soles did most the work. Overall, it wasn't the most stylish set he'd ever worn, and he still didn't enjoy the tracksuit's fabric, but it'd do for the day.
They all had to team up, then. Who would Graham pick, then? They all had their benefits, and it might be a nice opportunity to become familiar with one of his newer classmates and their quirk- oh, it seemed they'd all huddled together immediately. One of the more veteran students would have to do then- they'd all teamed up already as well?! Goodness, it seemed Graham had been far too slow on the uptake this time. Well then, he'd have to interrupt a pair already formed.
Jack and Karen would do. Arguably, they were the top two competitors of last year, though he didn't like to think of himself as too far behind. Having to resort to butting in didn't sit all too well, but it had to be done. The alternative was getting the teacher involved, and while he was certain she'd resolve the issue without issue, it'd mean a decent blow to Graham's self-esteem. Not that it was in immediate danger of shattering, it'd simply be more painful than solving the problem himself.
Alrighty then. Graham walked up to the duo, interrupting them in his usual fashion: "Pardon, it seems everyone else's already teamed up! Mind if I tag along with you two?"

Aquitaine stood off to the side; watching them get organized. She rested one hand on her hip while the other fiddled with what looked like a remote control in the other. The kids didn't waste any time; which was a relief. She shifted her weight a few times before beginning to take mental notes. The first to move was Desmoshi; he was newer than most of the other students; having come in later in the year last year. He'd qualified to move up to year two though which said something she supposed. Though she hadn't been impressed with his first showing on campus. She watched his sister, Mizuki, join up with him. She was more reasonable than her high octane brother; which was a relief. She just wished that Desmoshi didn't need someone to press him into thinking. Yang was the third member of their group. Yang was another new addition who'd tested in. She'd watched what videos there were of the girls quirk demonstrations. It'd be interesting to see how this played out for the three of them.
Next was Jack. That Jack. The one with the personality. Aquitaine could see the anxiety though; there was a stress there just beneath the surface. He forced himself to perform well despite everything. It wasn't a surprise; an obsession with standing out in a class filled with people who'd made it to the second year was a huge undertaking. She saw him approach Karen, Karen had a craving for challenge and was a strong performer, her videos had shown an exceptional level of technical skill as opposed to simple raw talent. She was high on Aquitaines list of students to give focus to. The Pro Hero crossed her arms when Graham approached them. He was... quiet and tried to keep his profile low. But that's where he frustrated Aquitaine. She'd seen his training clips and his performance and she knew enough about his quirk to know; he would go very far one day.
She narrowed her eyes as the two trios assembled. So that was it huh? 2A needed to get it's turnout together.
"OI Haymaker! You're class rep! Next time, make sure your peers show up! This ain't summer camp!" She shouted, hands on her hips. These kids weren't there yet. They didn't have the mindset of third years. But she'd forge them.
"Right! Both groups! You'll get your chance to take a run through the first floor. You have seven minutes to make it as far as you can. The difficulty is set at Normal. This will be a fresh challenge for you lot who made it through first year. If you barely skated by first year, you're gonna have a rough time. Those of you who make it to the end can try on Hard. You're working toward making at least one to two runs on Hard this year. Next year... you'll be trying to finish the tower on the next step above that. Pro Rookie."
She jerked her thumb back at the building.
