Desmoshi took a deep breath as he headed toward the workshop of UA. Ever since the Sports Festival, Desmoshi had been feeling his quirk grow more and more. Mizuki was able to get the data from Kumoko about her and her brother’s performance. The material for their support gear was fine, but they needed to see someone else to get better gear to maximize their quirks potential. Kumoko had suggested for him and Mizuki to meet Yojin and Charlotte who were more advanced when it came to gear tech.
Desmoshi was dressed in his everyday average clothes that consisted of a regular white T-shirt and a pair of green khakis with matching sneakers. He had put his dreads in a ponytail and was planning to have it cut soon before his and his sister’s birthday. He saw his twin sister standing at the door., her purple hair tied in a ponytail reading something on her phone. Just by looking at the two you wouldn’t be able to tell they were brother and sister, let alone twins. Mizuki's peachy skin complexion was more from her father while Desmoshi’s dark skin tone and brown eyes came from his mother. She was sporting her usual red shirt with purple sneakers and shorts.
When her brother got close, she gave him a wave and greeted him. “Hey, sis,” Desmoshi greeted back. “I thought you would have gone in by now.” Mizuki was all about science and loved to watch people work on various projects. “I was but I was waiting on someone else to join us,” Mizuki responded. Desmoshi was confused for a second until he heard a loud “Yosh!” from behind him. He turned and was immediately surprised with a smile on his face. “Dad! What are you doing here?”
Mizuki was not expecting her dad to actually show up here at the school. Jokai Haymaker looked exactly like his daughter- from his purple short hair to his peach skin complexion. But when it came to personality, Desmoshi and him were definitely alike. She shouldn’t be surprised when she told him about the twins’ development that he would come running down to the school. Still though, she didn’t want him to be here. Mostly because the school did not know he was the secret vigilante, King of Fists. And she wanted to keep it that way. But if they didn’t figure him out at the event, then she guessed he would be okay.
“You know you could have stayed home, dad,” Mizuki said quietly. “What did mom have to say to you being here?” Her dad put a hand on her shoulder. Even for pushing forty, he still looked like he was in his twenties. And as always, he wore his usual tank top showing off his huge muscles. He wore jeans with holes in it and a pair of heavy black boots.
“No need to worry, Mizuki,” her father reassured her. “I am here as a supportive father. I heard you guys needed new gear. So I brought this.” He held up a red notebook, with pages sticking out of it. “What’s that?” Mizuki asked curiously. Her father knocked on the door. When he heard the permission to come in, he said, “I explain once we are inside.” He turned his attention to the two support students that the twins were meeting. “Hey guys. My name is Jokai Haymaker. I am a professional boxer and the father of the twins here.” I patted both the twins on the back. “And I got a project for you guys if you are willing.”

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE THE WORKSHOP WAS AS QUIET and as peaceful as a workshop could be. Which is to say, thrumming with electronics of various sorts, bumping with music, and totally chaotic. But it was an organized chaos-- Sports Fest had given Charlotte's muse the injection of inspiration it needed, and she was hard at-work on a pair of oversized earbuds. She'd designed them for Chimera, originally-- and at the goat mutant's behest, she was adapting them for use with a music player. Bluetooth enabled.
Charlotte hummed to herself, pausing for just a moment to punch the air in-rhythm with the beat, before returning to the task at-hand. Clearly this was her music that was playing right now.
She was blissfully unaware of the reunion outside of the door, since the music drowned them out and she was thoroughly lost in the music and her project. The chorus was coming-up-- the prawn stood-up in her chair, holding an imaginary microphone to her mouthparts, ready to belt-out the coming chorus.
"I'm in your eyes, but you still can't see me... n-" the door snapped open. The chorus died in her throat, her face slackening. Well. This was... awkward. Three unfamiliar forms filled the door, a man and two apparent students.
The man's booming voice filled the workshop, battling for dominance over the music. Charlotte got up, clearly embarrassed, to pause the ballad she'd just been belting. She could work with classmates all-day, but visiting parents were an entirely different matter.
"Nice to meet you... Haymaker-san, and family," the prawn greeted, clearing her throat. Her attire was casual and pragmatic-- a jumpsuit, tied at the waist, and a fitted tank-top that made her look emaciated. Concealing her mouth, a black surgical mask, "I'm Charlotte Fujioka, third-year support. And this-"
She gestured to her left-- Yojin was still hard at-work, doing... whatever. Had he not heard them?
"Hey, Yojin! Yojin?" the prawn called, cupping a hand to her mouth, "We have visitors!"

Desmoshi had seen Charolette around the school before. That he wasn't so surprised to see that she was half-insect. Actually Desmoshi thought it was pretty cool. But he didn't know she was a support student here at UA. He really needed to meet more people. "Hi Charolette, Desmoshi said. "My name is Desmoshi Haymaker and this is my sister Mizuki. And this our rude father, Jokai," he added while recieving a bonk on the head from his father. While she yelled towards her partner, Desmoshi turned to his father rubbing his head. "First off, you can't just bust in people's workshop like that. Second, you still haven't answered our question. Why are you here?"
Jokai looked at his twins, jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas day. "I have been waiting for this moment for so long!" Jokai exclaimed looking from one twin to the other. "What if I told you that as you mature, so does your quirk." Desmoshi threw his hands in the air, waving them in panic. "Dad, not here! There are other students here!" Jokai looked confused at his son and then bopped him on the head. "Not the talk, you knucklehead. I am talking about your quirk."
Jokai turned to the other two students. "You guys might want to sit back and take some notes on this one," Jokai said as he made his way to the white eraser board. "This is going to be a long one." He grabbed a marker and begin scribbling on the board. "Quick question to everyone in the room. How much do you know about the world of quirks?" Desmoshi looked at his father, as though his mind had lost all of the contents necessary to function a proper thought. "Eh?" Desmoshi responed. His father gave a huge sigh. "I thought they were teaching science here at UA." He waited for the other students responses, which he nodded to if they were correct, before continuing. "Basically, let's put it like this."
Jokai began drawing a stick figure on the board and and then a larger one next to it. He put a bunch of small dots around the stick figures. "Quirks are very strange in our scientific world. We either have to train it to make it stronger, or, in your guys' cases," he added, pointing towards the twins, "it evolves with us as we make ourselves stronger."

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE THE PRAWN ROSE MARGINALLY FROM her seat to get a better look at her classmate. It would be miraculous if the blonde teen was wearing ear-protection, for once. She offered a brief, “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” before stalking towards Yojin’s work area, away from the trio that had just joined them. Assuming that he was there, she would wave to her companion from his periphery, before gesticulating at the three guests. Without waiting to see if Yojin would come over, she’d rejoin the trio soon enough.
Right in the midst of a talk on quirks—as Jokai remarked that, as one matured, their quirk did, too.
“Heaven forbid,” the prawn murmured, in good humor. As if she needed to look like even more of a Lovecraftian horror. That remark aside, she listened respectfully as Haymaker-san meandered to the whiteboard and catapulted into the beginnings of what seemed to be a lecture. Charlotte knew, of course, that quirks had evolved rapidly in the past century—and were hastily getting stronger with each generation—but her Japanese was not good enough to unpack all of that. So she merely shrugged and watched as Haymaker Senior began to populate the whiteboard with stick-figures. Ooo-kaaay?
“In a perfect situation, yes,” the prawn agreed, a wry smile touching her eyes, “Sometimes, the quirk grows faster than the body. Which is where my tech comes in.”
Perfect opportunity for a humble-brag, and a very subtle way to redirect the conversation—not that the lecture was not interesting, but… this was a workshop, not a classroom. At least he hadn’t erased the prawn’s notes off of the whiteboard for the sake of his doodle.
“How may I help you?”

Mizuki was not in a mood for a lecture today. If she wanted that, she would have called in a biology teacher for this lesson. "No offense, Dad," Mizuki said in a deadpan tone, "but can you please get to the point?" Jokai had a mock look of hurt on his face as he swayed back and forth, pretending to be hurt by his daughter's words. "Ouch, my pride!" he said with a laugh. "Fine, then. Let's get to the point then."
He walked to his twins, preparing his next words carefully. "Your quirks are maturing faster than your bodies can handle it. I noticed it at the Sports Festival. Elemental Burst builds up energy in the user's body at a rapid rate until the user expels it out. And it can also increase the user's physical attributes due to the build of so much energy as long as your body can meet the energy output, such as stamina. But there is a catch" With a serious look on his face, he looked at everyone making sure to get everyone's attention. "If you don't have the right gear, the energy in you will eat you up, you will be unable to control it- and then you will die. Straight enough to the point for you?"
Mizuki was silent for a second. She knew there was more to their quirk, but she had no idea it went that far. The fact that their body was endangered of burning from the inside out was not something Mizuki wanted to think about. "So what do we do from here?" Mizuki asked her father.
"Simple," Jokai continued. "Your body acts like a conduit to expel that energy. But that energy is little too much for your body to control. So-" he said looking at Charolette and Yojin, "-I need these wonderful geniuses to make you new support gear that can compensate for that. Think of it as an extra conduit."
He pulled out the plans and laid it out for all to see. Both suits looked high-tech and very hard to build. Mizuki's costume design had a purple qipao with flower designs on it. It also included wraps that look like cloth, but had the word "Metal" scribbled next to it. It also had a pair of purple boots with the same flower design on them.
Desmoshi's had what seemed to be a sleeveless, black suit with a metal chest plate on it. It had white lines running throughout the suit and two black gloves next to the picture with silver knuckles on it. The interesting part was the six holes in the back of the chest plate. "What is all this?" Mizuki asked. "The new suits that I want these guys to build," Jokai replied with a smile.

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE CHARLOTTE MAINTAINED A LOOK OF EASE and contentment as Mizuki more bluntly redirected her father’s soapbox. Thankfully, he seemed to take the deadpan remark in-stride, proceeding somewhat wordily to their real reason for being there. The prawn rested her head upon her massive lam a she listened, tapping her carapace with her primary finger.
In a way, she understood the quandary intuitively—a quirk that was more powerful than a body could accommodate. It was like her shockwave punches—the mechanism was almost always raring to go, but unleashing a punch all at once wreaked havoc on her muscles and sometimes even cracked shell. And yet… the twins’ situation savored of Saito’s struggles, too—of a quirk that could harm, or even kill, its user. The prawn’s attention was rapt, now, and very serious.
“Shouldn’t be an issue,” the prawn said simply, sitting a little taller in her seat. She steepled her hands and smiled with her eyes, “We’ve made suits of that nature before.”
Jokai laid-out schematics for suits of his own design, which the prawn leaned forward to survey. She arched a brow-ridge… if this man was so technologically-adept, why didn’t he make the suits himself? Access to resources, perhaps. The prawn moved a page aside, raising another to her muzzle as she surveyed the designs up close. She wasn’t interested in the aesthetics of the piece—she wanted to get a sense of how the conduit would be built.
Okay, on second thought, she didn’t like the aesthetics all that much—gendered hero suits, ugh. But it wasn’t her job, as the mechanic, to pass judgement on the order that her customers were placing.
“Looks doable,” the prawn said simply, setting the paper back down upon the tabletop, “Although some field demonstrations of your quirks, with the appropriate tech attached, would beneficial.”
She’d switched to strictly business, now—this was her niche.
“The designs are fine, but the mechanics lack the hard numbers necessary for this build,” the prawn mumbled, “We’ll also need to take measurements so that the armor actually fits.”
She lifted her lavender gaze, finally becoming aware of the fact that she was picking-apart the design aloud, and not necessarily in the most sympathetic way, either.
“Doable though.”

Desmoshi gave a confused look as he looked between his dad and Charolette speaking tech jargon. To be honest, he didn't understand a word of it. "I still don't get this," he said with a confused look. "What are these suits even suppose to do?" Not that he wouldn't mind a new suit. It was just that he couldn't understand how something like this could keep the twins' quirk in check.
"Simple, my boy," Jokai said with a smile. "The suit is supposed to function the same way as the support gear that I got made for you when you were kids. Keeping and expelling the energy build up. There are other functions you can add later to it, but for now, let's keep it simple to this. This suit will help you go to the next stage of your quirk." Desmoshi gave him a puzzled look, still not getting it. "It expels and controls the energy output safely at your discretion," Jokai added. "It will allow you to use your elemental abilities and is resistant to it, allowing you to 'coat' yourself into it."
"Sweet!" Desmoshi said excitedly, jumping up and down for joy. "You're finally going to teach us-." Jokai put up his hand to stop his son. "Slow your roll, kiddo. We got to get you two trained up first." Mizuki, who had been silent throughout the exchange, looked closely at the designs. "Hey, these look familiar..." Her father gave her a wide smile. "It should. I remembered how you loved the stories of the Sun God, Amaterasu, and the Moon Goddess, Tsukuyomi, when you were kids. So I modeled your suits after them- with a new school flavor, of course."
Mizuki was a little proud of her father. He actually did want them to succeed and was willing to help them achieve their goals. "Wait," Mizuki said, thinking of something. "If you know so much about this, why didn't you make it yourself?" "For two reasons," Jokai replied holding up two fingers. "One, I have no idea what these suits need nor how to build it. That's why I am asking for your help," he added pointing to Charolette. "As you said, you need the measurements and other things, that I have no idea to do. Number Two, you guys need to rely more on support students here at the school. Sure you could get other professionals to do it. But building some relations with your schoolmates wouldn't hurt."
Jokai's phone went off, ringing loudly through the lab. Jokai picked up and took a look at the message. "Looks like your mom needs me." He looked at Charolette. "I put them in your capable hands. See you two during your break." And with that he left the room, leaving behind two confused twins.

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE THE PRAWN OPTED FOR A PASSIVE ROLE in the exchange. Hero’s studies kids could be so extra, and it seemed that their parents were cut from the same swathe of fabric. Which… honestly made sense, if one was being a pragmatist about how parents’ views affected their childrens’ views.
Mizuki voiced the question that the prawn had been wondering, and the third year lifted her gaze from the rough schematics, nodding her head to show that she, too, had been entertaining that same question.
Ah, so he wasn’t actually a techie. Could have fooled Charlotte! Then again, the prawn herself was periodically faking her knowledge of some of the more specific tech-oriented vocabulary (language barriers and all that) so… she couldn’t totally judge Jokai for doing the same.
The twins’ father’s phone went-off, at which point he dismissed himself and stepped-out of the room, leaving the three teenagers looking owlishly after him. O-okay then… changing gears to a, erm, different conversational leader.
“Ehhh, alright,” the prawn said haltingly, rising from her chair, “Let’s begin with… quirks, yeah? What are your quirks? Your dad said something about energy… are you… elementals? Of what kind?”
As she spoke, the prawn went towards file cabinets along the wall. Some schematics were public-access, i.e. the power-suits for elemental students, since there were so goddamn many of them. It would be easier to improve-upon and adapt designs made by others rather than trying to create something entirely knew.
The prawn retrieved a handful of files, laying them upon the top of the work-table. She then grabbed the whiteboard and erased the hastily-drawn illustrations from Jokai.
“We’ve got quite a few elemental students,” the prawn assured them, “Whose quirks would otherwise be detrimental them or totally ineffectual without the help of a suit, so your case isn’t, like… totally weird?”
On the board, she drew a vague outline of a person, rather like the decal on a sign for a public restroom. Then, in a different-colored marker, she drew an oval in the upper-middle area of their back, and drew lines connecting to the oval along the arms, spine, and legs of the outline, almost like a red nervous system.
“Here’s what we usually do,” the prawn began, “The ‘battery’ that stores your energy is usually stored in the back, where it’s out-of-the-way for combat situations, and all throughout the suit are pathways that can collect and release energy. A lot of students like ‘releases’ to be centralized around the hands and feet, for obvious reasons.”
She leveled a gaze at the twins, placing her hands upon her hip.
“First we’ll need to test the tech before we make it look pretty,” the prawn explained, “cuz if the tech isn’t matched to your levels, it doesn’t matter how great it looks. We figure out specs with field-tests. Aesthetics I’ll figure-out with interviews. Cool?”

After their father left, the twins wondered if he would actually retire if they were to become a full hero. Then again, the likelihood of him retiring from vigilante work was more unlikely with each year they were at UA. The issue was is when the public would put two and two together and figure out that the pro boxer was indeed the King of Fists. Time was of the essence.
Desmoshi and Mizuki turned to Charlotte as she explained and asked questions about their quirks and suits. "Yes," Desmoshi answered with a smile. "We do use elements as our quirk. We have built up energy that allows us to use elements, like fire or water. However, we have been having trouble with our old gear tearing." Desmoshi was kind of happy with getting something new. But he didn't understand the technical term when it came to technology and stuff- unless it was video games. That he could understand.
When Charlotte went into detail about how their new suits would work and what they needed to do in order to make it. Mizuki understood it. Her brother, however... Mizuki could tell her brother didn't quite get it because of the confused look he gave her and Charlotte. There was only one way to explain it to her brother. "Think of it like food," Mizuki said in a deadpan tone to her brother. "Your suit acts like a second stomach. You can eat as much you want and store it in your stomach for energy, thus keeping you active and saving it for later release of energy." Desmoshi nodded his head in understanding with a smile. That's Desmoshi for you. Put it in terms of food and he understood it immediately.
"So," Mizuki said looking at Charlotte "what do you need us to do?"

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE THE PRAWN RUBBED HER CHEEK IDLY-- old gear tearing, sounded like an output or an age issue. The gear was either too old or leveled too low to meet the Haymakers’ needs.
“Do you have the old gear?” Charlotte inquired. No need to totally reinvent the wheel if they had support gear that formerly did the job. At the very least, it’d be an excellent point of reference.
Mizuki elaborated on Charlotte’s explanation, during which the prawn just nodded along.
When the question of what to do next arose, the prawn rested her chin on her hand, folding her arms. There were a few things that they could do, depending on Mizuki and Desmoshi’s schedule.
“Well… next, I’ll need you to give me quirk demonstrations—outside—of your current ‘max power’,” the prawn mused, “While I take readings with my computer. We could do that now, or schedule that for a later date. It’d take… roughly an hour, I think.”
The prawn lowered her hands, clasping them behind her back.
“Otherwise, we could discuss aesthetics of your costumes, too,” Charlotte suggested, “That’d take less time. And the sooner I get your order to Textiles, if we need them, the better.”
Charlie could handle power-suits or other types of armor, but if there was any sewing involved, she might need to enlist Momoko’s help.
“What’s your pleasure?”

Desmoshi nodded his head to Charlotte-senpai's question. "Sure do, Charlotte-senpai. It has been ripped to shreds a couple of times, but we salvaged what we could." Desmoshi too the gloves out of his pocket, what was once meant to be his quirk regulators now rip to shreds from the damage done from the Sports Festival and other issues. Looks like the equipment couldn't hold up to their quirk. Mizuki's boots were no better off, completely tattered and filled with holes. "Sorry if it's not in the best shape."
Desmoshi cracked his knuckles as he gave a smile when Charlotte mentioned that they could go outside for more testing. "We have nothing else to do today," he responded to Charlotte. "To be honest, I am not sure where I am currently at and it would be awesome to see how far I have come." Mizuki took this moment to pipe in. "I doubt much change since January, and right now, it is only March. Do you think we would have gained that much in two months of us being here." Desmoshi shrugged. "Guess there is only one way to find out," he said leading the other two outside.
As the three of them stood outside waiting for Charlotte to set the equipment up, Desmoshi had to wonder if he had improved since coming to UA. Sure, he place fourth in the Sports Festival tourneys and he did come a little late in the school year, but that didn't mean he wasn't getting better. Well, only time would tell.
