APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Misa's noticeable traits are generally her round and soft features. Her cheeks are wide and soft looking, and she generally has a friendly smile on her face. At first glance, you'd think her a naive and optimistic child but if you underestimate her you might end up with regrets.
She's short, petite, and strangely light weighted if anyone tried to pick her up. Her hair barely reaches her shoulders in length and generally is styled to look cute and messy. She never straightens it, but is know to put accessories in it like bows or pins.
Her clothes almost always match every accessory she has on, and she has outfits ranging from gaudy enough to be considered a costume to simple enough to be consider pajamas. She likes to change it up, and rarely wears the same things twice. Even her phone case has stickers and decorations that she regularly changes out. Her dress is somewhat of a hobby for her.
Despite her colorful outfits and friendly appearances, however, Misa generally finds herself standing out of the spotlight and away from the crowds. She can be described as a wallflower. If somebody stopped to pay attention to that, they'd find that she was perfectly comfortable giving off that impression.
POSITIVE
✔ Insightful, kind, open-minded, perceptive
NEGATIVE
✖ Naive, childish, pushover
LIKES
✔ Shopping, cooking, mochi, reading
DISLIKES
✖ Too much attention, bullies, sad stories
Personality:
In large groups, one would be hard pressed to hear Misa even say a single word. She much prefers watching large groups of people and just seeing what she can notice. A little creepy, maybe, but she likes to notice people's habits and their social queues. For example, she once found out that her sister looked to the left every time she told a lie. Never told her sister, and rarely used the fact against her... but it was fun to know, either way. She feels a sympathy for people that seem visibly uncomfortable. Sometimes she'll try to bail them out, but usually she'll just feel pity from afar.
In smaller groups, Misa is almost like a different person completely. She's happy to talk, and still an awesome listener. She's been told before that she gives great advice and is an awesome person to just vent to. She takes pride in maintaining that fact. She's the type that usually keeps a small group of very close friends rather than a large group of acquaintances.
Other than these things, Misa is diligent with her studies and her training. She works harder than your average student and often goes above and beyond in her assignments. Lazy students would find her an easy mark to cheat off of. She wouldn't try to stop them or tell a teacher, even if she finds that type of behavior repulsive.

HISTORY
Misa was never one that would be expected to try her hand at being a hero, but little did her parents know while she was growing up she secretly thought the idea of helping others and bravely protecting them was amazing. When she developed her quirk, it was just like her mothers and she was very happy with it. It might not be the most useful quirk in the world, but she was determined to work hard and make it as powerful as she could. Besides, her mother hadn't done any work to find the quirks true potential.
That said, her parents ran a quiet bookstore and had no desire to introduce their daughter into a life filled with action and adventure. They much preferred her staying home and taking over the family business with her older sister as her partner. This didn't sway Misa, though. She was determined to prove to her parents she was serious about this.
When her family inevitably found out about her practicing her quirk in private, they were definitely unsure how to feel about it. Her mother told her to stop, initially, but her father convinced her that it was just a harmless child discovering things about themselves.
So out of love, they wouldn't punish her when they spotted her practicing in private after that. Comments like "You'll grow out of it some day." Were very much commonplace though. They didn't care that it was all she'd wanted, not even when she'd revealed to them her desires to join U.A. High school and become an official hero. Instead they tried to push her more towards books and business. Tell her how much money she could make and how her sister would need her.
Everything changed though, when a candle that had been left unattended by her sister was knocked over in the shop. It started an impressive fire, with Misa's sister in serious danger. If Misa hadn't mastered her quirk to the point she'd had, there would be nothing they could have done but wait for a hero or someone else to come. Instead, Misa jumped into action and bravely did the heroic thing. Her sister ended up okay, and the shop was damaged but not enough to put the family out of business.
The hero that did arrive had a conversation with Misa's parents about her bravery and managed to convince them that she should be allowed to join the U.A. Hero Course. So, when the time came, they let her enroll. She was happy to put in her best effort and make sure she could be the best her that she could be.
Sure, her parents still worried. Misa was pretty sure that they always would. That didn't sway her mind though. Instead it just made her want to work harder to impress them.
