APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Upon first sight, Kiryu always appears tired. Even when he may seem excited or happy, he has heavy lids upon his eyes that tell a tale of exhaustion. His overall complexion is smooth skinned with a few small nicks and cuts from his years of vigilantism. The most notable scar is the thin red line he had received from his first villain encounter. He wears a simple black mask over the lower region of his face to conceal his identity while out in the field, though he'll pull it down if around friends or comrades in confidence. A large headband is always secured to his forehead and typically would be tilted downward to concealed his scarred eye. Not only to hide the mar, but also to keep maintenance on the amount of energy his quirk exhausts from him.
He is not much of a snappy dresser, preferring to wear anything that is easy to move in. So basic crew cuts, slacks, and boots for the most part. He enjoys darker or warmer colors when out and about with side pockets in his pants and larger belts to hold whatever he may need. He's usually seen with a book in his hand of some sorts.
In the field, his hero costume is a simple one. A black sneaking suit that offers enough breathing room to perform his duties with side satchels along his legs to hold various infiltration tools. A forest green vest over his torso holds the rest of his utilities of knives, lock picks, and reading material. His gloves are finger less and black with metallic plates over the knuckles to work in tandem with his fighting style.

Personality:
Kiryu can come off as a dry and humorless type of person with a bored expression upon his face, but if someone were to speak with him they'd see that he's actually a very kind person. While he may treat others with the respect that they are due, Kiryu will not hesitate to law down the law. Rules and control are more than mere guidelines to him and he takes his sense of discipline very serious. He hates those that disrespect society or show proper respect and though he's difficult to anger, this would set him off and the receiving party would suffer 100 years of pain.
He takes most life in an easy going manner, despite his outward hard nature, with a grain of salt. There isn't much that gets him down or even excites him for the most part. So if he finds you intriguing, consider it a major compliment. He's embarrassed of the scar on his eye that is a constant reminder of his failure and will practically never raise it up. A loner by nature, Kiryu has a difficult time expressing his inner kindness and secretly wishes for camaraderie. It's a major reason he accepted the teaching role in the first place. Thus his job is his life and he's never known much of a social existence outside of brief partnerships or team ups in his field of expertise.
He is not above resorting to violence, blackmail, extortion, or humiliation to get what he wants and nothing would stand in his way. Pain doesn't break him and death does not scare him. He feels empathy for those who are weak or defenseless and would willingly sacrifice his own life if it meant saving even one person. In the end, a Hero must always be prepared to offer up his or her life in the pursuit of the greater good, through whatever means necessary.

HISTORY
On April 6, 2033 a child was born. Nothing is known about his parents, nor his given birth name as he was found wailing loudly in an overturned bus wreck covered in the blood of his parents. Found by Nobuyuki Akemi, the boy was brought to the town of Shirakawa-go in the Gifu prefecture of Japan. Within the quiet farming village resided a compound for Shinobi who had shaped the history of Japan and parts of Asia since the Sengoku Era. It was here that the boy was raised as Kiryu of the Nobuyuki clan and molded as a tool for the future. He grew close to his step siblings Eichi and Nagisa, who had given him a semblance of humility in such brutal training.
The world was beginning to change as Kiryu developed into a boy of 8. A rising of mutants and powered individuals and within a year, Kiryu had developed one of his own. His kind was dubbed Quirker by the vocal minority and, being the only one in his village, the boy quickly rose in the ranks of power and skill. Seeing the wavy strands of Super Violet in his vision constantly, he would however get terrible migraines and would be forced to wear specially made contact lenses that would slightly inhibit the function of his quirk. He was a trained professional in the art of Choho by the time he was a pre teen and arrogance was his sin. Kiryu was assigned a squad of his own to deal with a local uprising where he would encounter a young man with a quirk as well who would be destined to be his rival. During the confrontation, Eichi was killed and Kiryu was left with a jagged scar along his left eye.
Humbled and defeated, he could not halt the rebellion and had barely escaped with his life. Kiryu fled as his squad was slaughtered. Upon returning, he was disallowed from any further missions until he could prove himself and was properly disciplined for his failure. His father had played favoritism to his adopted son, twisting the rules to allow the young man to keep his title of Shinobi. He swore that he would never allow another to die for him again and pushed himself ever harder, studying books and perfecting his craft. The thought of losing Eichi was too much for Nagisa, seeing him in memory wherever she went. So the girl left as she became an adult to study law in Tokyo. Kiryu, alone and suffering the guilt of his failures, buried himself in his work. Extortion, black mail, espionage. He was the best at what he did, traveling from country to country. After nearly nineteen years, he had suffered failure in a small homely town in another prefecture where he once again encountered the rival villain.
During a snatch and grab assignment, Kiryu managed to defeat the villain who happened to be their target. However, he had suffered grievous injuries and ordered his team to escape with their quarry. He was dragged before the corrupt official who represented the Hironobu clan. The man who happened to be his rival's father. Shocked, beaten, water boarded for information, but he would not give in. Kiryu was tortured for fourteen months. He bared the rotten cell they tossed him in and ate the mold ridden bread that hardly sustained his strength.
However his internment would come to an end when his Father Akemi would offer a trade for the two sons. Upon the exchange, the two met in the middle of the two factions. Both beaten and near starved, they silently vowed to kill one another. For the critical failure and humiliation to the Nobuyuki clan, Kiryu had been exiled from his home. But not before witnessing his Father's execution for his constant discretion against the clan for Kiryu's sake.
He left Shirakawa-go behind forever, hitching rides and bumming his way to Tokyo where he reunited with his sister Nagisa. Now a fully fledged lawyer, she was living a comfortable life with enough room for Kiryu in her life. Under her roof, he retrained his body over the years that the boom of quirker births began to erupt at an extraordinary rate! Bans on quirk usage were later put into place, which only furthered the boiling rage of the quirkers. Villainous crimes soon broke out all over the city!
After recovering from his failure, Kiryu was ready to get back into his work. He dove head first into using his skills to save those who could not save themselves. The man worked in the shadows, stalked from shadow to shadow. He even cooperated with a small handful of others that the public began calling Vigilantes. Kiryu adopted the name Spymaster, cleaning up the city from criminals and corrupted overlords. Life was good for Kiryu...he had found his calling. He even filed for official citizenship, got a routine job, and acquired his own place to live!
Yet on one particularly terrible night while out on patrol, Spymaster had come across a scroll on his route. It detailed his sister's entire schedule and also her address. He rushed to her house only to arrive too late. Her legs had been broken beyond normal measure and her blood was used on the wall to spell the word Taskmaster with the symbol of the Hironobu clan scrawled underneath. His old rival had returned and was lurking somewhere in Tokyo. Nagisa had made a recovery but, to her shock, she was with child. She refused to let the child go and would eventually birth a baby boy who she named Kazushige.
Kiryu pushed his vigilantism even harder than before, using far more aggressive methods to search for Taskmaster but to no avail. However his increased assault on the criminal populace had garnered the attention of the Japanese government and thus in the year 2071, Spymaster had become an official Pro Hero. Though unlike most heroes in the spotlight, he continued to remain in the background, manipulating criminals in the dark underbellies and beating down thugs in the back alleys to defend 'the little people' of the slums.
After the recent events that had affected the prestigious institution of UA, Nobuyuki Kiryu had been formally requested by Principal Kobayashi Touma to visit the school and organize a committee to bring order to the school. Balance, as all things should be.
