MAYBE IT'S A FACT WE ALL SHOULD FACE IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING, Tobias Murakami received a phone call. His phone, push-button and rather archaic by modern standards, reverberated raucously on the top of his bedside table. The obsidian golem rolled over in his sheets, clearing phlegm from its throat. It was the police department.
Tobias hoisted himself up in his bed, his sheets pooling around his waist. His bare chest glinted in the weak half-light—a gray morning, if the light was anything to go by. Tobias flipped the phone open, and held it to his ear.
“Good morning,” he grunted into the receiver.
“Informant-“ an urgent voice broke.
Oh, this was going to be good. Tobias mopped at a luminous eye, stifling a yawn.
“Yes?”
“-we have an emergency that warrants your expertise—please come to the Ueno Police Station!”
“There isn’t anyone closer?” Tobias mumbled, rousing himself from the bed and padding towards his closet. The drive from Musutafu to Ueno was going to be a pain.
“No sir, it really warrants your expertise.”
“Give me an hour.”
“Please call us once you’re inbound, we’ll debrief you.”
Tobias Murakami donned his usual heroic attire—a business suit and sunglasses. One look at the weather, and he decided that a coat and scarf would also befit the occasion.
The drive was uneventful, and when he pulled-up to the police station, two harried officers awaited him outside. Tobias parked his car out front, turning his car off and emerging
“Haywire quirker, huh?” he inquired, as per their earlier conversation, “I fail to see how this is my expertise, sirs. I’m an investigator.”
“Well… your quirk… I suppose you’ll see,” the officer spoke haltingly, “Follow me, please.”
Tobias arched an eyebrow, and did as he was told. The two strode into the station, and Tobias removed his coat, his heels clicking on the tile floor.

Koyuki was not precisely aware of what to do, but then again, it seemed like none of the cops were either. She wasn't about to fight any of the cops to escape either, that was simply just how innocent people got hurt. She was used to being profiled for her quirk, for being arrested without any real crime committed other than a prejudiced officer. This time was different, of course. She had actually committed a crime, if one could truly call it that. Vigilantism was frowned upon, but it was a public service. If she didn't do anything, then perhaps nobody would have.
Still, despite turning in the thugs that she recently had an encounter with, Koyuki was surprised to find these officers wanted to arrest her as well. She was honestly more taken aback than angry, even if her anger was incredibly visible on her face. Still, with the three officers all around her, and the only way to escape would be to physically harm them, she chose not to resist.
And yet, there she stood within a holding cell, uncuffed. A bench was within the room, but she knew better than to sit down. The multiple pairs of handcuffs had slowly crumbled away under the liquid nitrogen that constantly poured off of her body. The room was quickly filling with mist from the nitrogen evaporating into the air. The car ride to the station alone was a hassle for the poor officers as well. Not only did it quickly get too cold for them within the metal car, the windshields quickly fogged up, and the seat alone was damaged from her quirk. Luckily, the officers seemed socially conscious enough to not ask her to 'turn her quirk off' as it was rather quickly apparent that didn't happen.
Koyuki slowly looked around the empty holding cell. The bars wouldn't even be too much of a hassle if she decided to break free, and the officer assigned to keep an eye on her definitely seemed to realize that. He stood with an uncomfortable stance, awkwardly looking at her every few seconds as she sighed. She had no intention on simply busting her way out of here, but at the same time it seemed none of the officers had a single clue how to handle a prisoner they couldn't truly contain, someone who was only there because she wasn't fighting back.
Sighing heavily, Koyuki closed all her eyes as she leaned up against the wall behind her. This was proving to be a rather large waste of her time. Opening up her third eye, the mutant girl scowled as she heard movement within the rest of the building. Were they sending someone to take her away? Or perhaps were they still just running around like chickens with their heads cut off? Tired of this game already, she was honestly just waiting for the moment where she would have a chance to run away without causing direct harm to anyone. "Well?" She suddenly spoke up to the officer just outside her holding cell. "You going to keep staring at me or what?"

MAYBE IT'S A FACT WE ALL SHOULD FACE TOBIAS FOLLOWED THE UNIFORMED OFFICERS, unwinding his scarf from around his neck. He began to remove his coat, but an officer said, "I'd strongly recommend keeping that on."
The golem arched a heavy brow, but did as he was instructed to do. He kept the coat on against the oppressive heat of the building. Up the hall, a small crowd of officers had gathered, some with their noses pressed against the large windows of the cell. A woman was barely audible from within. White fog rolled from within.
"Step aside, officers," Tobias's escort commanded, "The Informant is here. He'll handle this."
The hero bowed slightly in greeting. He remained to the side as one of the officers by the cell door fussed with the keys and unlocked the door to the holding cell.
"Officer Hashimoto will accompany you," Tobias's escort advised him, "In case they try anything funny."
The lock clicked, the door swung open.
"Please remain near the wall!" the officer with the keys yelled into the cell. The man Tobias assumed to Hashimoto entered first, followed by Tobias.
Tobias squinted against the roiling fog-- then spotted the "haywire quirker in-question". Not out-of-control, not attacking anyone, just... standing there.
The obsidian removed his sunglasses, revealing the two, molten pools that comprised his eyes.
"Good morning, Miss," he greeted, "I'm... uh... the Informant. A professional hero."
His stomach was knotted. How the hell was he supposed to combat a cool fog? Particularly one that seemed this... tame? Something was off...
"W-would you mind telling me..." he trailed. His sentence broke. What, "what's troubling you?". Besides getting arrested? How inhumanly cold the cell was?
"...how you came to be here?"
At least he knew now why they told him to keep the coat on. He rubbed a hand over the crown of his head, stone scraping stone.
