Mari Yakobu UltraWear || CEO || Fashion Sunday Morning. The press had just left the hospital room after a small barrage of questions. Mari was still a bit tired and just sitting in the hospital bed, looking through the quarantine enclosure that had served as her life line for the past three weeks.
Wait, wait Hold up. What the huh? Press? Hospital Bed? Mari? Quarantine? What the heck did we miss?
Three weeks ago, while working in the Ultra-Wear shop on a new fashionable suit, for a client who wanted more of a Public Relations style than something to rescue citizens in, one of the stock team members brought some perfume over to get Mari's opinion on. Her official opinion was to be thrown into an asthma storm so hard her lungs collapsed and ruptured. With a shortage of Beluga whales with her blood type, The Medical Queen Elise von Eisenberg performed a successful Lung transplant with a pair of normal human lungs.
Word got out that a Quirker with Mutated lungs had their lungs replaced with a normal human set. Because of the medically induced coma she was placed in so that the lungs could heal and adjust to the new body, The CEO of Ultrawear was unable to answer the why for herself. The news media and random people on the street formed their own opinions on why. Most did not even consider that someone with a Powerful Breath Quirk could also suck at breathing.
Now that she was awake, and has entered manual breathing mode, she was concentrating on learning how to intake oxygen like a regular human. She was not even too concerned about the press. As far as the loss of powers were concerned, she was really just learning about it herself.

Back in Osaka, where Maximillian had went with his parents because they wanted to show him a few things about the business world to teach him some last things about it before he became a legal adult and would, finally, buy all the property under their names back to himself, all he needed was that one day of private teaching to miss an extremely important, life-changing event back home. He was notified quickly at least, though it did leave him in a state like he hadn't seen for almost a year.
While he was alone in his room, while sitting completely still after the call ended, a permafrost spread through the entire room, completely smashing up anything more fragile like glass by sheer pressure of the spreading frost, as well as irreversably destroying any electronics, like his phone that crumpled up into nothing from his ice-powered grip. For once, his eyes had changed completely from their golden, lit-up hue to dimly lit snowflakes, the veins in his eyes going bloodshot soon after. To calm himself down, with utmost immediacy, Maxi desperately shuffled around the still-freezing bag he had on him, shuffling through things that, right now, were all garbage to him just so he could find that small baggy, full of the strongest stuff he had on him.
Roll it up, light it up after using his MaxiMuhn to defrost his lighter and he was now taking the deepest inhales of it, as far as he could go, now on a cold sweat while his body stabilized. His eyes that returned to normal, the warm room temperature that forced the frost to leave immediately, leaving whatever was not an eletronic or made out of glass pretty much intact, if not slightly messy. Once his mind and body stabilized from that revelation, he left enough money on the counter to pay for whatever he fucked up and, after explaining everything to his parents, they were very quick to board a plane and haul ass to Tokyo.
"I'll be ok from here. See you all later." Maxi waved to his parents, hopping on the first ride he could get directly to the hospital, where he almost barged in, surprisingly maintaining his calm the entire time. Even as they told him that Mari was in an induced coma and that she wasn't open to visitors, he decided to just wait in the lounge, not moving a muscle other than to eat or go to the bathroom. Had it been days? Weeks? No matter how long it took, the boy did not move at all, to the point where he sneakily would wash himself in the bathroom with his own ice that he'd melt. WHEN it was time where he could visit her, he made sure to be the first to enter her room, full of various gifts for her, nothing that could interfere with her nose, though. So, no flowers. But there were a lot of candy, plushies, blankets that weren't too heavy since he was scared of it hurting her lungs, as well as another thing that he wouldn't show right now.
"M-Mari.. I'm here, I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier!" Maxi apologized for something he couldn't exactly control, though he still started to quietly weep, his body having forced itself to not absorb any warmth. If he actually made the room cold and that cold made her sneeze, what would happen!? Maximillian would not risk that for even a second - he would do everything and anything, no matter how difficult or in how much danger it put his body in the long run to make his dearest safe and happy.

Post by Kirk Bluster on Nov 10, 2019 14:41:19 GMT -4
It had been quite a normal morning all things considered. Kirk had slept well on saturday, catching up on all the sleep the school usually took from him, which made Sunday the perfect day to get ready for another week of the romp! He had gotten up semi-early, eaten his bowl of cereal, and was now stretching and squatting just outside of his house, with some more minor things in his head. The fact that his grandpa had requested to sleep a little longer today, the stuff at school, all the sort of things that allowed him to pretty much zone out on the trip. It was the best time for him to be thinking something else...
What he didn't expect was the phone in his pocket suddenly starting to ring... He pulled it out, a bit befuddled about who would call him at this hour. It was Elise! Hm. Maybe something was up with Tetsuko? Man, being in the know for this sort of stuff was nice actually. He quickly answered it. A bit of small talk commenced, naturally. 'whaddups' and 'not much:s', and eventually they got to the actual point of the call: "Hey, uh, wasn't Mari in your class?" "Well you know, used to be! Had to quit it cause her quirk was acting up on her! Poor bro... But she's doing fine now! I went to meet her this one day and...!" "Well, that's why I am calling you! You see, her lungs collapsed completely yesterday, and she just got out of the operation, and..."
Kirk for a moment just stood there blinking, listening to all the smart biological Jargon Elise was spewing... Kirk had always had big troubles understanding most of it, but he already got all he needed from the first sentence he heard. "...Her Lungs collapsed...?" In the end, what the call pretty much amounted to, was that she had thought he would like to know about it. "You got that right bro! Which hospital is she at!?" Well, this call had pretty much changed the goal of his morning jog completely. He took off, with a bit more spring in his step than usual! Honestly, it was clear Kirk had severely underestimated HOW harsh the quirk was on her! Even back then, she had to properly explain to him why it was such a big deal! And now, it truly hit him!
The trip to the hospital wasn't exactly long with Kirks pace. Entering the hospital, he immediately went to the reception, "Where's Mari Yakobus room!?" "Uh, do you have an invitation...?" "Elise, the doctor invited me!" "...Alright then..." With that, he pretty much got what he wanted, and proceeded to run up the stairs (this was still his morning workout after all). As he reached the floor Mari was supposedly in, Kirk ran to the door, Huffed and puffed a little while to not sound so tired, And opened the door with his usual bluster! "MARI! You alright, br-" As he looked into the room, he saw another familiar face, standing next to the bed. "Maxi? Dude!" Man, that was a guy he hadn't seen in a while! Last time was the sports festival probably! "What have you been...?"
Then he looked at all the presents in his arms, and gave a look at Mari in the bed. "...Oh... Ooooh." His hand quickly went behind his head, as he scratched his head... "I uh, Hope I ain't interrupting anything, hehe?" Well, this was awkward. Whatever the relation was, a random guy just blurting in without even candy to bring to the recovering was awkward. "If you guys want I can go and uh, wait behind the door, till you guys are done! I ain't in a rush with my stuff!" Although, he was a little bit curious about what it was about. Anyways, if he was told to do so, he would get out of the room for a while, before things got more awkward. Honestly, he wasn't sure if the cold in the room was coming from Maxi, or if it was cold sweat. He didn't feel too sweaty atleast.

Mari Yakobu UltraWear || CEO || Fashion Mari could only sit up in her bed for now. The back wasn't up fully supporting her back, she was sitting on it like she sat at her desk at school or work. The blue hospital gown the absolute pinnacle of fashion.~ She adjusted her gown a bit as Maxi came into the room, just before this she was rubbing her bare shoulder, trying to work out a cramp. After all the years in yoga, this was the first time she had ever not stretched first thing in the morning. Draped over her legs were the standard hospital blankets. Underneath her bed was a thin electrical cord which went to a heating pad she could lay her back on. When she saw the white haired brit come into her room with half of the gift shop store, she smiled to him. A moment later, Kirk Blustered in. Yep, that was a verb now. He then noticed Maxi and seemed confused.
As if to settle both of them, she waved them both over with her arms open. The top of her chest still showing the stitched cut marks from her operation. No matter how she adjusted her gown, she couldn't cover it completely. She would have said something to them, but her voice was a little sore still. So for now, a hug and a smile would be the best she could. If they accepted a hug, it would be light. Because even though her ribs moved on a very easy hinge and her chest skin and muscles were as elastic as Kirk's Pouch, the fact they were cut into and repairing made her entire torso hurt.

Maxi was about to check out how Mari was doing and just where did she get operate until who other than this guy, Kirk, came in like a crazed beast, acting so rowdy and loud that Maxi needed to remind himself that even releasing the slightest bit of his power here could put the person he loved most in danger so, instead, he raised his index finger up to his lip quite quickly, seriously mad dogging Kirk until he quieted down. "God damnit, not so loud! If you startle her and she gets hurt, it's your neck!" Maxi hissed quietly at him while occasionally looking back at her, still absolutely heartbroken over what happened to her, though he at least was now much more focused with Kirk here and the necessity of keeping his energy at a low.
"You.. aren't interrupting anything, you should stay. You're clearly her friend and she needs us more than ever. ..God, my beloved Mari. The moment I leave for a business lession with my parents, this happens to you! I'm so sorry.." Maxi moved slowly over to her, very apprehensive over accepting her hug, not wanting to put any weight on her chest, instead just bowing down and keeping himself up while she weakly hugged him. Oh, what a weak grip. His beloved must be suffering so much after this scary situation he wasn't even here for, she must have been horrified. It weighed on his heart so much that he gently took her hand, standing back up a bit to gently nuzzle it, hoping that this wouldn't hurt her in any way, just kissing the back of her hand repeatedly, his golden, dimly lit eyes staring down at her.
"Hey Mari. Look at my neck.~" Maxi pointed out the heavy-looking golden ring around his neck, the present she gave him a good while ago, made to help heat his body up to dampen his biological weakness. It allowed him to actually be almost as warm as the typical person, just so he could touch her without feeling guilty. He did put her hand back down after a short bit of showering her with love through it, looking at Kirk instead to explain the situation a bit better.
"Look. I'll explain: I met Mari when she opened up her clothing line in front of U.A., since I was passing by. I recognized her, we talked.. and got along well. She's my girlfriend and the person I love most in this world."

Kirk visibly flinched a bit, as Maxi shouted at him to be more quiet. "S-Sorry! I mean... Sorry." Admittedly, his reaction was to be expected. Shouting at anybody resting was not exactly a good plan. "I mean, I didn't mean to..." He mumbled a bit, rubbing his neck. Man, that was kind of a strong threat... But guess he deserved that. Should have been more considerate. Atleast after the brief snapping, Maxi still allowed him to stick around. Maybe he was just frustrated cause he was so worried! His grandpa was like that sometimes.
Still though, he kept his distance, looking over as Maxi was handling Mari very carefully... Kirk scratched his head. Of course, there was the possibility they were a couple. Honestly, the more he looked at the little scene, the more he could feel like one of those kids in cartoons, who wanted to not watch 'cooties' being exchanged. It was just an awkward scene for him to watch. As much as he was her friend, just sticking around currently felt so weird. He just kind of felt like a third wheel. Of course there were some other thoughts as well, though Kirk couldn't really place them too well.
He snapped out of them though, when Maxi turned to him and addressed him directly. Yeah, they were a couple. Not like he wasn't convinced before... "Yeah, well... I am her classmate! I mean..." He corrected his volume again. "We met again recently at her business building. Got there to... get a new suit design and, been keeping in contact since about that sort of business." He scratched his cheek. Man, it was hard to come up with things to talk with, this just felt so personal...
Kirk eventually got a bit of a burst of bravery, as he stood a bit straighter, and walked up to the bed where Mari was laying. "So uh... I hope that breathing isn't too much of an issue currently... Never been in a situation where I would need to... change my lungs, hehe...he..." He tried to make an awkward joke about it. Just imagining her, a girl he had accidentally slapped hard enough that she had literally fallen over being in a situation like this was absolutely insane. Heck, the fact that she was now quirkless was an even bigger amount of confusion for Kirk. Just imagining your quirk being removed permanently... Kirk just didn't have any idea how to process it with his head size. "If you do have problems, just remember... Find the pace at your own pace... You'll get it on your own, you get me?" The fact that he had to be semi quiet about it didn't help much either. This one of his friends in a hospital bed!
Heck, hugging her seemed like a spooky prospect. "Everything else uh... fine? Not hurting anywhere? You hungry?" Nothing was preventing them from getting her a snack or a drink. Well, if Elise didn't have anything to say about it.
