Eye of the Beholder
Sonya was conscious for the operation. She had to be. Her mind had to be active for her brain to resync with the eyes when they were reinstalled in her skull. It was the only way. The technician labored carefully over her body, focused on his craft and not the two guards that had stationed themselves on either side of the room. This was a test after all, and both he and his patient had put their lives on the line. It was not that Sonya was a risk taker, Sonya was just aware of what she had to do to win...and Sonya Chernova always won in the end.
The villain who would become known as Ishtar twitched slightly as the tuned up eyes were installed into the empty sockets. Lenses shifting into position and adjusting until her brain registered that her vision was clear. She waited several seconds, unable to see the pink glow that they gave off because of how her eyes filtered light. She twitched again and finally sat up, looking down at the specialist who had just finished packing his tool set.
Sonya was an ethereal beauty of pale skin and white light glowing off of it. Her pink eyes were framed by silver hair that cascaded over her half naked body. Diodes were attached to her chest and back to monitor her vitals while her artificial eyes were outside of her head. She gave the doctor a smile; "You're hired," She said, offering him a hand that he took with earnest, even going as far as to kiss her knuckle. She pulled her hand away and examined it, the moment of irritation passed as soon as it came. She reminded herself that self control was the only thing separating her from a common serial killer.
"One of my men here will take you to where I'm assembling my new research team. Don't hold up. I have some product to sell," Sonya said casually, hopping down from the table and stretching her arms. One of the guards threw a coat over her shoulder, covering her modesty. She gave the big man a smile and patted him on the chest. He bowed and stepped away, only to stop and reach up to his ear. Customers? Already? More likely browsers who had gotten lost, she was only showing this new design to villains that Giovanni had introduced her to.
Her eye twitched but she took another breath before giving the guard a severe look; "Well? Find out who it is."
