Deciding that the way that he could win in a timely manner that would make sure that safety came as soon as possible would be to release the protection in his arms and dive head-first into a boiling flesh shell to get the quick strikes needed to down his enemy was turning out to be, in fact, a terrible choice. Sure, he didn't get punished for what he did, everything was on his side when it came to his consistent retelling of the events, his burns being pretty consistent with what he described and the fact that the place where they fought had been a slight bit trashed, not by Kouta's fault, but because he couldn't afford to block hits that big.
Still, it was a sad state of affairs when he found out that, due to his quirk that affected him more than juts when it was active, he healed off his burn wounds way slower than normal humans, though they did note that he showed some strong vitality, to still be well and fine, apparently ready to continue for a bit longer even though he was that hurt. Adrenaline, they said. Kouta trusted them, since he was not some sort of unnaturally strong or durable boy. He was weak. He's weak. He's been here for five months and has gotten to do nothing and train for no time, since he's not allowed.
Instead, he's hooked up to some tubes through needles sticking into his body, constantly pumping some slightly turvy, yet mostly transparent liquid, arms and the top of his head in wraps due to the burns he suffered. Boy actually had lost most of his pink hair in that experience, though he did regrow it all just fine. Still, it left him pretty much regretting being so reckless.
Not regretting the reasons he fought.
He knew that, thanks to his efforts, his siblings were safe, a constant source of pride and confidence even when the days and weeks of feeling like he was being left more and more behind his classmates hit his already fragile, small ego. As long as he was someone's hero and made his siblings proud, he'd be just fine, he figured. What he could use was a visit, from time to time. Sure, he spoke to Hye-chan recently about a plan of hers to get him out of there sooner, since otherwise he'd be naturally healing for two more months, so the doctor said.
He didn't trust her promise, though.
Not that he dislikes her or thinks she's a liar, but that she just wouldn't be able to. Or would figure that it's not worth helping a person who can barely be close to her without going into a panic attack.
It's so lonely here though...
