Mia was admittedly somewhat skeptical of her friend's nonchalance but there was a feeling in those words that was hard to describe. It was obvious things were not fine, but the fact that she still said they were proved how much she cared and how much she didn't want to trouble the young shark. In response the girl smiled back at her, keeping her teeth hidden behind closed lips even as her teeth hurt her in this rarely used configuration. "Welcome back." The young shark called out, lacing the words with as much happiness as she could physically muster. She had no desire to worry her friend obviously, though the smile never quite made it to her eyes tempered by the guilt as it was. Mia swiftly moved herself to help walk Shouko the rest of the way, trading the mental weight of guilt for the physical version. She probably should have helped the other girl more given how strong Shouko was, but reason wasn't the driving force behind her actions as she prepared to start helping the pair onto the makeshift sled.
"Ja, um, yes this is everyone once we get you two on board."Mia replied to Shouko's question swiftly, accidentally answering in her first language before correcting herself; a clear sign of her disrupted composure. She really couldn't wait for this to be over, to have these people back safely and to get someone more experienced to take a look at Shouko's wounds. Having such a deficient understand of first aid had become a mistake that was getting more pronounced every second they had spent on this mountain. Internally she berated herself for having such vast inadequacies while trying to shove any and all of her feelings deep down inside as she would typically do. Such a shame then that her sheltered life had never given her such a depth of feeling and she found herself woefully unprepared to handle it.
Still, it would never be said that a Fischer does not continue to work while under pressure. Even as her mind turned tempestuously she took leave of her friend's side and helped the girl she rescued into the sled and made sure they were secure. Then she approached Shouko with the intent to help her into the sled next, guiding her as best as she could even as her friend seemed to be slowly taking leave of consciousness. It's okay now, you can rest Shouko, you've done enough. Mia thought to herself, daring to entertain the smallest amount of pride in her friends accomplishment while mentally preparing herself for the arduous journey back to the bus. A sudden noise punctured her thoughts stunning her slightly as she turned her head to try and find out where it came from.
She missed the wall, but the unmistakable wave of white coming towards them was impossible to miss. Every muscle in her body tensed up as she froze at the sight of it. What do I do?! Thankfully a voice pervaded her stunned mind and gave a simple order that was all too simple to follow. She held on tight as her friend pulled her onto the sled and into her arms before the storm broke upon their tiny ship. Had she been more relaxed she would have most likely enjoyed the impromptu embrace, but with the terror of the situation she merely did as she was bade and held on. Miraculously the snow seemed to pick up their craft rather than bury it, launching it down the slope at high speeds, Mia could feel the wind tossing her hair about as she held tightly. Her mind was slowly stabilizing as she opened eyes that she hadn't realized she had closed and shifted one of her arms away from Shouko to hold onto the sled as well.
Her mind numbly recognized Shouko's voice calling out for their teacher among the chaos, but the lack of response was somewhat telling. It appeared he would not be available to save his wayward students from the storm of white. With no choice but to hold on, she did just that, noting the trees moving past them in ever increasing frequency and far more quickly than she was comfortable with. With her mind beginning to regain thought, she started to try and think of anyway she could use her quirk to fix this situation, but everything was simply moving too fast at this point. While she frequently used her tail to pick up speeds resembling this, she had always had some difficulty stopping without trying to spend her momentum in a different way; such a tactic would never work in this scenario.
A voice foretold of immanent doom and Mia looked forward at the tree rapidly approaching. It was only a matter of time after all until their luck ran out and they ended up lining up with one. What could she do, how could she fix this problem. To her great shame her mind was blank, even after the amount of time she had spent trying to figure out how she might be able to help. Thankfully with a mighty roar or scream, Shouko came to their rescue ramming her rock covered arm into the snow to produce a makeshift rudder effect. Their sled turned ever so slightly and dodged the incoming tree successfully, but there was clearly more trees above as the density was increasing.
Mia's mind worked overtime, and upon seeing this example she felt as if a spotlight had been trained on the answer her brain had been unable to grasp. Ah! I can do that too! Once more, tightening her grip on both Shouko and the raft for support she unceremoniously dunked her tail into the stream of snow underneath the raft. Using it's unique properties she managed to apply her tail to aide in Shouko's rudder effect, amplifying it as much as possible to ease the amount of turning they would require. With how much time the friends had spent together, it wasn't entirely surprising how well Mia could sync up with Shouko's intentions with the bare minimum of mistakes. Carrying on like this they finally managed to reach safe ground as the avalanche exhausted it's immense power.
Mia's breathing had become completely ragged by the end of their journey. Redirecting the sled with her efforts combined with her earlier exertions had proven to be an exhausting experience. Her tail hung loosely as it cramped intermittently, the silvery sheen disrupted by what appeared to be surface burns and more than a few splits. She had lost control of her quirk a few times and had suffered the extremely painful feeling of having everything turn solid around her tail for the briefest of moments. The force of it had nearly tugged her off the sled but her grip and Shouko's had been strong enough to keep her in, and she had forced her quick to work despite the pain. Now that the trouble was over she breathed a great sigh of relief and glanced to her dear friend. "We made it..." Mia's voice died in her throat seeing her friend was no longer conscious, slumped forward and well on her way to dreams. It was admittedly a rather beautiful sight.
The young shark slipped off her jacket and wrapped it around Shouko to try and keep her warm as she accepted that she probably wasn't going to go anywhere for a bit. "Sensei, Shouko needs some medical attention.." She called out, loudly enough to be heard but also rather softly so as not to wake her friend.
