Though Isamu may have been one of, if not the first student to arrive at the bus, he was not the first soul to arrive. Their teachers reserved that honor for themselves, for obvious reasons. Each and every one of them were characters in their own right, standing out immediately in the early light of dawn that was only now beginning to break over the treeline of the hill that the U.A campus was nestled atop. They were a sight to see to be sure, a myriad of different outfits that denoted their status as Pro Heroes. It was something that had always excited Isamu about the prospect of studying at U.A. The chance to learn directly from those lucky few who had been taken on by the Government as true Pro's. He had always been sure that that was the best way for him to learn about the life he wanted to lead, straight from the horses mouth so to speak, instead of the soundbites and propaganda pieces that the Government would sometimes doll out.
He had had the chance to learn from all those present in the last few weeks and had enjoyed the experience. They weren't all alike, they had different outlooks on the Hero Life which gave credence to their views. There was a standout figure among them though. Not only because of his almost otherworldly appearance, what with a long white coat and striking black gas mask, but because he was also Isamu's new Home Room teacher. Their previous teacher, Inyo-sensei had left U.A without much warning. Isamu was sure that the upper staff knew what was going on, but her students hadn't been given much in the way of explanation. He assumed it had been something to do with her previous occupation, that of a Policewoman, but with no confirmation either way 1-A had been left kind of in the lurch. They'd only been told quite recently that their History teacher, Blank-sensei, would be taking over the role left unfilled.
Blank-sensei was a very mysterious man, being a member of a new breed of heroes just now on the rise. Underground Heroes who often took anonymity to the extreme and choosing to take the less glamorous assignments as opposed to the flashy jobs that the higher ranking Pros usually answered. In their classes he was always a well mannered man, who clearly had a passion for teaching. History certainly wasn't the most riveting of subjects, but Blank-sensei had always managed to make it interesting to some degree. Isamu had been more than a little excited to hear that Black-sensei would be taking over the role, the chance to get a teacher so dedicated to his students wasn't one you would want to pass up if given the chance. And now he was going to be part of this outing for the First Years, the outing that Isamu and the others still had no actual idea as to what was to be expected of them.
Taking another long sip of his coffee, Isamu made his final approach to the bus that would be shepherding them to their task for the day. They fact that they were leaving the school campus in the first place was already telling. Almost all of their previous Practical exercises had taken place in one of the many expansive training grounds that the U.A campus hosted. But today they were leaving to parts unknown. That in and of itself excited Isamu. He was more than looking forward to whatever it was his teachers had in store for him. Practical lessons had quickly become his favorite part about U.A. They all served as a good challenge to test himself on.
Isamu greeted all his teachers as he walked past them, careful not to interrupt any conversations they might have been having with their colleagues, but he paid particular attention to Blank-sensei, moving to stand in front of the older man.
"Morning Sensei." he said in greeting, pushing the last vestiges of tiredness from his tone and features. "Congratulations of the move to Home Room by the way. I can't speak for the rest of the class, but I'm really looking forward to it." he explained, a bright and ultimately genuine smile on his face. It was near enough impossible to tell what Blank-sensei was thinking or feeling, the gas mask certainly made that a useless endeavor. In the end the only sign of the mans mood was his body language though with no other visual queue it was still a herculean task. That being said Isamu had never seen the man angry per say, maybe disappointed with students from time to time, but he suspected that that was more from having high hopes and expectations for those in his charge.
There had been wild and ridiculous rumors abound the last few days among the first year population of U.A. Speculating as to exactly what it was they had signed up for and been chosen to participate in. The most ridiculous Isamu had heard would have had to have been the idea that their teachers were taking them out to actively pursue and fight villains as a means of training. Other obvious factors aside, Isamu knew well enough that Blank-sensei would have never condoned such a thing. Despite being uber mysterious there was one thing Isamu knew for sure, Blank-sensei cared quite a bit about his students. That told him that whatever it was that they were expected to be taking part in today, they wouldn't be in any significant danger. That was not to say it wouldn't be present, this was still U.A after all. You couldn't expect your students to grow if they weren't subjected to trying times every now and then.
"I suppose I can't convince you to give me a little insider info?" he said, chuckling slightly as he joked. "Promise I won't tell."
No matter how the day ended up, Isamu knew that with Blank-sensei's input that things would at least be getting very interesting, very soon.
