Sigh.
Shimizu Haruto stared at the cookie tin on his desk. Why was this so difficult? It was a simple enough plan- Bake cookies, bring them to school, offer them to classmates, make a good impression! So where did it go wrong!?
Well, an impartial observer could pinpoint any number of reasons. For example, there was the fact that Haruto had frozen up when class ended, and didn’t actually offer the cookies before his classmates had left. That would be a big reason.
And then there was his appearance, with white hair that couldn’t possibly be natural (could it?), and a pierced ear, combined with his sickly appearance and sharp eyes from having stayed up late out of anxiety… Shimizu Haruto was not exactly the most approachable of U.A. First Years. He’s not entirely the one to blame for that- That would fall on the fashion magazine which misinformed him of current fashion statements, or perhaps the friend who gave him said magazine, never imagining Haruto would actually treat it as gospel.
Regardless of how it came about, Shimizu Haruto’s first day at school had gone horribly wrong. Of course, being an eternal optimist, this couldn’t keep him down for long! If he got jitters on the first day, he’s just try again the next! With one sigh, he exhaled his regrets, and prepared to face the future!
But first, he cracked open the cookie tin. Despite knowing how good they were- Or perhaps because he knew, Haruto couldn’t resist a quick taste test.
The results, of course, were delicious.

Chise had always been one to be well prepared for events such as the first day of school, yet today things went a little out of plan for the red head. First, she almost left home without one of her shoes, then she accidentally broke the lenses of her glasses, and finally she messed up introducing herself in class; what she wanted to say was CHISE but what came out sounded like CHASE according to one of her fellow classmates.
When the bell rang, signaling class was over for the day, Chise softly sighed and packed up her belongings, watching as the other students in her class nearly bolted out of the room just so they could get home. Chise took her time to pack up, and especially so today in case she made another silly mistake. Chise stood up, once she was confident she had everything, and was about to walk out until she saw a white haired boy staring down at a metal tin on his desk. She remembered his introduction but couldn't think of his name right away. Hanta? Hibeki? No, it was Haruto! She watched as he opened the tin to reveal what appeared to be cookies of some sort. The redhead could feel herself salivate slightly at the sight of those cookies... No no no! She had to focus, now was not the time to be thinking about food! If Chise wanted to be the class rep, she should at least get to know her fellow students first! Chise had made her way over to the boy and spoke, "Haruto-kun, was it? Would you mind if I sat here?" Chise asked, pointing to the desk and chair in front of his own. The first way to make friends is to start with conversation.

Hearing his name snapped Haruto back to his senses. He had thought all of his classmates had left! Did one come back? Or had he just overlooked them? Either way, it was horribly embarrassing being caught eating cookies all by himself!
"... was it? Would you mind if I sat here?"
Haruto looked up at the speaker, who was pointing at the desk in front of him. He had some impression of this girl, a classmate of his, who seemed to have bitten her tongue during her self-introduction. Not that his own went much better, he recalled, having been distracted by the gazes of his classmates and forgetting everything he prepared to say.
He took a small pause as he dredged up the memories of this particular classmate, as it would be terribly embarrassing for her to remember his name while he forgot hers. Unfortunately, he remained unaware of his own appearance- His sharp eyes and delinquent-esque appearance lent that small pause an ominous air.
Of course, that air was shattered the second he opened his mouth.
”Oh, err… Go ahead, Chi… Chitose-san. Err, would you, like a cookie?”
Mentally congratulating himself for managing to say it, the poor boy had no clue he had gotten her name wrong after all.

Given permission by her classmate, Chise sat down, turning the chair around so she faced Haruto's desk. A soft chuckle left her mouth, "I didn't expect anyone to remember my name after how badly I butchered it. It's Chise...Chise Ishihara...not whatever silly thing I said before. My introduction was so bad, I can't believe I messed up what I wanted to say. I even had everything planned out too! I guess it all just went to waste in the end." A nervous chuckle left her lips as she rubbed the back of her neck, perhaps this second impression wasn't going as well as she had hoped after all.
She looked at Haruto and smiled before looking at the tin of cookies on the desk below, once again feeling herself salivate, having eaten lunch earlier in the day and getting rather hungry now. "Ah would that be alright? Are you sure I can have one? They look really good and I would hate to take one if you weren't alright with it," Chise said, looking up at Haruto with eyes full of hope. A small noise left her lips once she heard the other say she could have one. She happily reached into the tin and took a cookie out before bringing the sweet treat to her lips and taking a small bite of it. Chise closed her eyes and happily hummed at how great the cookie tasted, it might even be better than her own!
Realization hit as she had ogled over a cookie for the past two minutes without even thanking the other. A light pink blush dusted Chise's cheeks as she looked at Haruto again, the half eaten cookie still in her hand. "M-My apologies! It's just that I hadn't eaten in a while and the cookies you made look really good and they taste just as good too! I must have looked pretty stupid with me blissing out over a small cookie. I'm weird, yes, you can tell me," she said, looking down into her lap to avoid an awkward or unwanted eye contact. Perhaps this was a bad idea after all.

“Gck”
Haruto choked slightly on hearing that he’d gotten the other party’s name wrong after all. Well, didn’t he just feel like a piece of crap now.
“I’m really sorry! I didn’t mean to…”
Make you feel bad, he didn’t finish. After all, his conversational partner had already honed in on the other thing he had said. Looking into those gleaming eyes, only a monster would rescind the invitation!
“Go ahead. In fact, take as many as you want! It’s the least I can do…”
To make up for forgetting your name.
He watched with trepidation as the cookie passed the girl’s cherry-red lips. Was it good? It was good, right? Even having just tried one, and despite knowing from experience that he didn’t have some strangely unusual sense of taste… Haruto could never help but worry about the what-ifs whenever someone tried his food.
A silence fell over the room, marred only by the sounds of chewing, and of happy hums. That was a good sign, right? That meant she was enjoying it, right?
This was by far one of the most awkward situations Haruto had ever been in. Where was he even supposed to look? It would be weird to stare at a girl eating, after all, but it would also be rude to look away from a person who was talking to him! In the end, he compromised, and busied himself in counting how many cookies he had left.
Finally, the silence came to an end. The verdict was in- The cookie was good! But Haruto had no time to be relieved over that, because it seemed the awkward silence had gotten to her as well- She was acting depressed again, like after he had forgotten her name. These mood swings are just too hard to follow, thought Haruto, doling it away under things he would never understand about girls.
“No, no, really, I’m just happy you enjoyed it! Err, I’m not really sure how to say this, but, umm, rather than thinking you look stupid, well… I’m just happy you thought it was worth savoring? Plus, umm… Even if you are weird, is that… Really a problem? I mean, after all, couldn’t you say everyone at this school, is weird, in a way? So, umm, don’t worry about it? Maybe?”
Okay, he botched that horribly. What kind of motivational speech is stuttering and uncertainty? He wasn’t even sure it had convinced himself. And so, he did the only thing he could think of. He changed the subject.
“Umm, anyways, I’m Shimizu Haruto. Erm, feel free to take another cookie. I’m sure they’re not very filling, but, they should be better than nothing, and I made plenty…”

Chise slowly looked up and listened to the other talk, hearing that he wasn't mad or upset with her rather he was happy that she enjoyed the cookies that he made. He was glad that someone appreciated his cookies enough to savor them instead of just taking one without really caring who they came from or what they tasted like. He even said her weirdness wasn't an issue as they were all pretty weird, although she thought she was weirder to a stronger degree than most were. Chise smiled, hearing his kind words cleared any anxious thoughts she previously had. "Thank you, you didn't have to say such kind words to someone like me," Chise said, finishing the cookie she had while she rubbed one of her eyes, feeling them start to droop. Her medicine must be wearing off quicker than she realized. Chise picked her bag up and looked inside for her medicine bottle, only to find it missing. She must have forgot it on the bathroom sink at home. Great, another screw up to add to the list, how many more could she add before the day was up?
Chise set her bag back down on the ground and returned her attention back to the white haired boy in front of her. "My apologies, I don't want to come off seeming like I'm ignoring you but..." Chise paused, feeling her eyes shut for a few moments before she forced herself to open them, "what was I....oh yeah...I have narcolepsy. It's a condition that effects my sleep patterns. People don't really know much about my condition because I try to keep it under control as much as I can. I forgot my medicine at home today so the dosage I took this morning before coming to school is....starting to wear off some. I should be alright though, I usually am. Just a bit tired is all, nothing to worry about." Chise said with a soft giggle, rubbing her eyes once more in hopes she would look more awake.
At the mention of having another cookie, Chise seemed to perk up just a bit. "Really, I'm allowed to have another one? Thank you Shimizu-san! Sorry, I should have been a bit more formal when I first said your name." Chise gladly took another cookie from the tin and nibbled on it, enjoying it just as much as she did the first cookie she ate. Chise looked back at Haruto and spoke once she swallowed her bite of cookie, "I would say they are pretty filling. They are the perfect size and the flavor is so delightfully tempting, that it makes you want to keep eating them until they are all gone! I'll have to make you some in return." Chise thought for a moment before an idea came to her. "I know, I'll make a batch and bring them with me to school tomorrow! Is there a particular kind of cookie you like best? Maybe I could bring some hot water in my thermos for some tea. Do you like tea or are you more of a coffee fan?" Chise asked before finishing her second cookie, waiting patiently for Haruto to eat another one before she asked for a third one for herself. She didn't want to wat all of his cookies now, she'd feel awful!

"What the hell do you mean, 'someone like you!?'"
Haruto could not resist the outburst at hearing the girl's words. He didn't care that he was interrupting, and didn't know that his mode of dress made him appear rather more fierce than intended. He simply could not accept the phrasing which she had used. Self-deprecation was among the things Shimizu Haruto hated the most!
"Err, sorry. I shouldn't have raised my voice," Haruto added after a second. He had done it again, butting into other people's business. Certainly, she had some circumstances that led to her attitude, and usually these circumstances were of the type that people preferred not to tell those they had only just met. Clamming up, Haruto sat around awkwardly as Chise rummaged through her bag.
"Oh, I see," was all he could say to the girl's explanation. Narcolepsy certainly wasn't one of the diseases his quirk could cure, or he would have instantly offered. "If you're tired, go back and take your medicine, or rest! Don't let me keep you here!" These were Haruto's true feelings- He would hate for Chise to be forcing herself to talk to him when she was tired, even if she didn't want to be.
It's no problem, Ishihara-san. After all, I did the same to you, and, well, at least you got the name right!" Haruto couldn't bring himself to look her in the eyes as he finished the sentence. Even if he was forgiven for it, he had a feeling he would never let himself live it down. Hopefully it wouldn't happen again.
"You really don't have to go so far- They're only cookies! You praise them like they're manna, or lembas bread! I may be half decent at following a recipe, but if my cookies were half as good as you make them sound, I'd quit school and open a bakery!"
Haruto spoke as such, but in his heart, he was really happy to hear his cookies praised so much... Even if he was uncertain how much of that praise he could really trust.
"There, there's really no need to go that far, Ishihara-san..." Haruto attempted to refuse her offer, but soon gave in. It was pointless to refuse the goodwill of others. "Well, umm... Just make whatever you like best? And, well, coffee is too strong for my tastes, so I would prefer tea."
Haruto left off at that, waiting for Chise to take another cookie. He had already had plenty when they were baked, so he wanted to leave the rest for others. "It's a shame the dorms don't have kitchens. Once these are gone, I'll have to borrow the home-ec room to make more... Assuming they'll let me," Haruto mused aloud about his current dilemma. He had completely not expected the dorms to have no kitchens, so he would have to find an alternative if he wanted to keep cooking.

A soft whimper left Chise's lips at the sudden harsh tone Haruto used, she knew she was going to do something to upset someone on the first day. Chise had put her arms up in self defense, afraid the other would hit her for her nonsense talking but the strike never came, only an apology. Chise blinked and slowly lowered her arms before looking at the other, fidgeting in her seat slightly, still a bit anxious he might still hurt her. "N-No...it's alright. I said something to upset you and...that was wrong of me. I apologize, it was never my intention to make someone angry with me on the first day of school," Chise said, her saddened and apologetic eyes looking over at Haruto.
Why would she stop talking to someone just because of her sickness? Sure she was tired but that was not an excuse to stop talking to another. Chise shook her head before responding, "You aren't keeping me here, if anything I'm the one keeping you here to talk with me," a soft yet still nervous chuckle left her lips. "I can take my medicine when I go back to my room, until then I can wait," Chise told the other, wanting to get the point across to Haruto that she wanted to talk with him.
"Still, I want to show you some sign of thanks in return for the cookies you made that you let me enjoy here with you. At least let me do that. I'll bring some tea bags to school with me tomorrow and you can pick which kind you like the best." Chise said with a smile until she heard him talking bad about his baking skill. Chise got up and slammed her hands down on the table and looked at Haruto in the eyes, "Don't you say they aren't good! They are totally some of the best I've had! You might not believe in yourself but I do. You should accept a compliment if someone gives one to you. These cookies are so good, I could eat the whole tin in a matter of minutes if you let me!" Chise had a look of determination on her face willing to go to such lengths to make the other happy and believing in his own skill.
Chise huffed once before she sat down and took another cookie before popping the whole thing into her mouth. She crossed her arms over her chest and looked over at Haruto, confident her message got across to the other no matter how ridiculous she may have looked while saying it. After she swallowed her cookie, she couldn't help but chuckle a bit, thinking of how silly she must have looked. Once she calmed down from her small giggle fit, Chise responded to Haruto's comment about the lack of kitchens in the dorms. "It is a shame really, but I was thinking of joining the cooking club. I hear they hold their meetings in the home ec classroom. I heard it's a great group plus they make lots of desserts and even a few simple dishes as well! Maybe we could join together?" Chise was hopeful that she could be friends with the other, it would be nice considering their shared hobbies.

As feared, his outburst had upset Chise. Haruto nearly burst out again, telling her not to apologize, but... He somehow managed to hold it in. No, that's not what I meant... It's just, umm, you should have more confidence! Saying something like, 'someone like me,' it's, you know? I know I'm being a bit of a busybody... I just, I don't like it when people treat themselves poorly, like that."
He hoped that the point had gotten across. Looking at her eyes that seemed to think she had done something wrong was simply bad for Haruto's heart- "I'm sorry, please, just forget I said anything." He would rather drop the subject than deal with those eyes.
It made Haruto feel better to know that Chise wasn't in desperate need of her medication. He would hate to not only make her feel bad, but also to keep her from the things she needed! "Ah, okay. Umm, speaking of which- Was there anything you needed from me?" Haruto enquired- After all, he hadn't seen a reason for her to approach him. Of course, there was always the chance that she had just wanted to speak with one of her new classmates- But on the chance that that wasn't it, he felt the need to ask.
"I never said they weren't good! I just said that they aren't as good as you make them sound! They're just normal, homemade cookies! You're talking about them like the foodstuff of legends, which they are far from!" This was a blatant misunderstanding, which Haruto resolved to resolve before it grew out of hand! "If I thought they weren't good, I wouldn't have brought them at all!"
After a moment, Chise started to laugh. Haruto couldn't help but laugh along, though he wasn't sure what was so funny. He liked it more when Chise was laughing, than when she was upset, or angry over a misunderstanding. In hindsight, she probably felt the same way- Making Haruto feel worse all over again about having yelled at her. He almost apologized, but caught himself in time- It would be awkward to apologize at this timing!
"Home Ec, huh? Yeah, that sounds like fun! I suppose even heroes have to eat, eh?" Haruto agreed to join with Chise. Home Economics was a subject that was typically more attractive to girls, so it would be awkward if he was the only guy in the club... But more important than his awkwardness, was having a kitchen to cook in! We should go to the club later, to ask for application forms."

Chise shook her head and looked at Haruto with a gentle smile. "I appreciate your words, I've just never been that confident in myself really. Back in grade school, sure it might have looked like I was strong and had everything together when I was the class president but deep down, I was always doubting myself. I never knew if my ideas and plans would make the other students happy or if they would hate me for it. Even trying to get into a good high school, I continued to doubt myself. I did not want to go to a heroing school as I do not believe my quirk is that useful in the first place. I wanted to focus my time on my studies and completely neglect my quirk but my life had other plans for me. The schools I applied to declined my application but my parents had submitted my application here without my knowledge," Chise paused for a moment before she continued with an even bigger smile, "I was glad that they did that for me. I wouldn't have been able to meet kind people like you if I would have went with my brain instead of my heart." Chise was ever eternally grateful for how her cards have been laid out up until this point. She wouldn't have asked for anything different.
Chise blinked when she heard the question come from his mouth. Did she need anything from him. "I didn't need anything specific that I can think of. I wanted to get a chance to talk with the other students since our class is rather small. I was hoping to at least make one friend here. You just so happened to stick around today and so I made my move." Chise told Haruto, taking another cookie before taking a bite out of it. She swore she was eating the whole tin right in front of Haruto. This was her what...fourth cookie now? She hoped to have more chances to some of the other students in her class. She wanted her class to have the strongest friendships out of all the classes here at school.
"Still, I would want to eat these cookies again and again if you brought more of them. I'm usually picky with my sweets but these make the mark!" Chise said, finishing her cookie before giving Haruto a thumbs up. When she heard that Haruto would agree to go with her, the redhead practically beamed. "That would be great! It will be great knowing a friend in club!" Chise said, quite excited about joining Home Ec together with Haruto. "I wonder who else from the other classes would be interesting in joining as well," Chise thought out loud before she covered her mouth to yawn, not wanting to seem rude in front of Haruto.

Thankfully, his stuttered, staggered speech had successfully removed the pleading eyes! Score one for the confidence booster, Shumizu Haruto! Or something like that.
"Oh, is that what happened? That must have been rough, getting all of those rejections... But, for what it's worth, I'm glad you're here too! My story isn't nearly as exciting- I just want to use my quirk to help people, so I applied! But, well, my quirk wouldn't be worth much against a villain, so I couldn't possibly aim for the Hero course. Now here I am!"
Haruto neatly neglected to mention his experiences with discrimination against quirks, or how his goal was intimately intertwined with how he overcame that. As far as he was concerned, that was all a part of his dark history- Even if he had never been a chuuni. What would he even say, 'Yeah, I spent a few years pretending I didn't have a quirk because the villagers would ostracize me?' Wouldn't that just be awkward to talk about? Yeah.
"So, what's your quirk? Mine's Purification. My body acts as a filter, drawing toxins and bacteria and junk from the environment into my body to be cleansed! I can even use it to cure sick people! Though, well, I'm not really all that immune to the stuff I filter out, which is why I'm always a bit ill, you see. Especially with all this air pollution in the city. I never realized how clean it was back home until I left!"
Haruto took the opportunity to segue the conversation from depressing things like failing entrance exams and self-doubt to a much lighter topic, quirks! Hopefully he wasn't stepping on another landmine, considering how she had just said she thought her quirk was useless.
"Oh, that's fine. I just thought I'd ask, in case there was anything. Err, thanks."
Haruto left off with the casual expression of gratitude, having a hard time putting into any more detail than that what he meant. She had come just when he was feeling at his lowest, for failing to do exactly what she had done, and salvaged at least a little of his day. Plus, she liked his cookies! All in all, he was grateful.
Don't worry, I'll definitely make more! Though, I think I'll try something else next time. Maybe oatmeal cookies. We'll see!"
Haruto was happy to have made a friend, and was highly hopeful of making more in the club! Actually, come to think of it, "Now that I think about it, this is the first year the school's been open. Have clubs even formed, yet? We may have to start from creating the club, rather than joining it! Oh dear..."
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed. "We should probably find that out, huh? If the club even exists, and what it would take to start one... Usually in manga, you need what, five people? Including us, we'd need three more..."

Chise felt her smile grow when hearing Haruto say that he was glad she was there as well, just having someone enjoy her presence made her overjoyed. "Thank you Haruto, it means a lot to me to hear you say that," the redhead said, listening to what else Haruto had to say. "Right? I want to be able to help others when they need help but my quirk is also unfit to compete with the big name heroes we already have. We're just small fish in a big pond it seems," Chise said, her smiling turning into a slight frown.
When she heard Haruto start talking about quirks, she felt a hot wash of shame roll over her body, not because of his quirk but just thinking of her own. She tried clearing her mind so she could properly respond to her new friend. "It's a great quirk but it's a shame the negative effects come back to you. It's never fun being sick, can you at least take anything, like some sort of medication, to help with how often you get sick because of your quirk?" she asked in concern. His quirk was like a double edge sword it seemed, sure it was doing good to help the environment and others around them but he would get sick in the process. Being in such a big bustling city with quite a bit of pollution didn't help Haruto's condition in the slightest. "Since you shared your quirk, it is only fair that I share mine as well. My quirk is called Songbird. My quirk allows me to copy any person's voice through means of lip to lip contact. It's rather embarrassing to use so I don't do it often. I never like kissing people when they don't consent just to be able to use my quirk," Chise said, her cheeks a bright pink as she looked down at the cookie tin. She grabbed a cookie and shoved it in her mouth so she didn't have to think about using her quirk. Plus sweets were more tempting than quirk practice anyway.
When she heard oatmeal cookies being mentioned, Chise perked up. She swallowed what bit of cookie she had in her mouth before speaking, "Oatmeal cookies are so good, especially oatmeal raisin cookies! My mom and I used to make them all the time when I was little, I swear I have the recipe memorized in full by now," Chise said with a giggle. Her dedication to baking was just as big as her dedication to her schoolwork. "I'm not sure about the school clubs, perhaps there will be some kind of club exhibition to show off all the clubs the school has for us students. If there isn't a club that pertains to what we like, I'm sure we could always make one with the help of a few more potential members," Chise said, hopeful they would have some sort of baking club here at the school. "There's bound to be other's interested in cooking!" Chise said with enthusiasm, "If not, we just have to get them interested!"

Oh dear, she was frowning again. "That wasn't what I meant!" Haruto hurriedly clarified. "Even if your quirk isn't useful in combat, that isn't a bad thing! I mean, isn't quirks being used for combat, well, a bad thing? It makes the people without quirks scared of the people who have them... I think, if there was more focus on quirks like ours, people wouldn't be so afraid of quirks!"
This was Haruto's personal philosophy, the guide of his life. "That's why, my dream is to use my quirk to become a doctor!"
"I mean, my body naturally clears itself out much faster than other people, so it's not all that bad. I'm sure I'll get used to it. Unfortunately, because of how my quirk converts everything it takes in, by some sort of sciencey mumbo-jumbo that I don't really understand, medicine doesn't do anything... But please, don't worry, I'm fine!"
He'd made the wrong impression, he shouldn't have mentioned his drawback. All of the positive things he can do with his power, what was a little nausea? "Oh, another cool thing my power can do- See my hair? Not dyed, I just simply filter out the pigmentation! Cool, huh?"
Again, Haruto was unaware that his hair color was not at all considered cool.
"L-lip to... Wow, that, that is awkward." Haruto now felt bad for asking, he could see it had embarassed Chise to talk about it. Like, how do you even, discover... Erk! I mean, sorry, I'm just thinking aloud. Ignore me, please!" Haruto rapidly backpedalled, realizing he had just implicitly asked about her first kiss... Not really a story to share with someone you've only just met!. He found his face was almost as pink as hers. All in all, an embarassing moment all around. Perhaps a change of topic was in order?
Fortunately, talk of cookies was well suited for that! "Sounds good to me! Once we have permission to use the home ec room, I'll get to making those! I'll be sure to offer some, once they're cooked."
It was good to have plans, and good to make friends. All in all, this had gone amazingly well, despite some misunderstandings and some embarrassment. "Yeah! I mean, this is the first year that U.A. has been open, so it would be weird if there were clubs already. We should find sensei later and ask her about the details, I'm sure she'll be happy to help! I'm really glad we had this talk, I don't think I would have ever come up with this idea on my own!"

Chise listened to Haruto explain that quirks used for combat may not be the best. "You do have a point. Giving light to more passive quirks such as yours and possibly my own, could bring about a newfound appreciation for quirks in general! You know, help those who may not have quirks to understand that not all abilities are dangerous or scary," Chise said, finding a newfound appreciation for smaller, lesser recognized quirks like Haruto's. Quirks could be used for other things than just heroic work, quirks would help center and change the future for the good of the growing society.
Chise was a bit relieved to hear that Haruto was not totally incapacitated from illness due to his quirk's drawback. He could still fight through the sickness in order to make his environment cleaner for others. "Alright, as long as you say you're fine...but any time you fill ill in school please let me know. I wouldn't want to see you push yourself too hard when you feel ill and get sicker as a result," Chise said, hoping Haruto would take her offer. She wanted to help her new friend in any way she was able to. Chise heard his comment about his hair and looked at him in shock. "Really? I thought you had just dyed your hair white or something along the lines of that," Chise said, not knowing his quirk could do something like get rid of the pigments in his locks.
Chise did feel a little awkward when talking about her quirk, many people feeling appalled when they hear her talk about it. It wasn't not that she disliked her quirk, it was just hard for her to really do anything with it that didn't involve forcefully kissing someone just to show them what she could do. She noticed him apologize for asking how she even found out she had this sort of quirk and shook her head. "No no it's alright! It happened when I was about 6 or 7, I had tripped and accidentally kissed my friend in result to me falling on top of them. When I stood back up and spoke, I had sounded just like they did. They thought it was the coolest thing they had ever seen and I thought it was cool as well. We laughed it off and had me do it a few more times to mess around. We were kids so I really didn't think much of it. It got a bit harder to use as I grew up...you know with puberty and changing and all. I just grew too embarrassed to use it...to kiss someone out of the blue just to show them my quirk. I never wanted to force anyone into being my target to practice my quirk," Chise told Haruto. "It's been a while since I last used it so I'm not too sure how well I can even use it now..."
Chise grew happy when she heard Haruto would make some oatmeal raisin cookies and bring them in to share just like he had done with these ones he made today. "If I find the home ec room, I might spend just as much time in there as I do spending time working on my studies," Chise said with a chuckle before taking another cookie. She ate her cookie and listened to Haruto say something about talking to their teacher about the club they wish to form. Chise smiled and nodded in response, swallowing the last little bit of cookie she had in her mouth. "That sounds like a good idea! Hopefully she is still here so we can discuss this with her. I'm glad we had this talk too and I hope we can have many more talks as well!"

Haruto beamed at the validation of his dream. "That's exactly it! It might take a while, but one day, quirkless people won't have to be afraid of those with quirks! Well, of course, at the current rate, that may be because there are no quirkless people left... Quirks are becoming increasingly common, after all. But that's just why it's so important to bring to light all the ways they can be used without needing to be a hero or a villain!"
Of course, seeing as Chise was already convinced, this was no more than preaching to the choir- But Haruto was just so excited to find someone else who believed in his dreams, how could he not get excited about it?
"Oh no, I couldn't possibly bother you like that... You don't need to worry, I'm fine!" Haruto could have lied and said he would just so Chise wouldn't worry, but that simply wasn't the right thing to do. Of course, he couldn't possibly tell her that if he did take her up on that, he'd have to tell her every day... Not only would that just be a hassle for both of them, there was no way it wouldn't make Chise worried! "No, really. I'm just fine!"
"Oh, yeah, no. I couldn't dye my hair even if I wanted to- It would just get sucked in and purified, just like anything else that has some toxic properties. But you know, I kinda have to wonder what else I can use my power on, if I can use it on non-toxic things like pigmentation... I feel like testing that might cause more harm than good, though!"
Despite his backpedalling, Chise offered up the explanation of her own accord. Perhaps because he had clearly misunderstood, and she just wanted to clarify that it was an accident, before he thought of her as some sort of indiscriminate kisser. "Hah, yeah, I can see how that would get awkward..."
Were Haruto smooth, and a pervert, this would be the perfect opportunity to add, "Well, there's only one way to find out!"
Fortunately, he is neither, and so the thought never even crossed his mind.
"I agree! Though, you should focus on your studies! They're important too!"
Despite knowing she was joking, Haruto still felt the need to lecture. Unless your goal was to open a restaurant, it wasn't good to neglect your studies for your hobbies! "Well, what are we standing around here for, then? Let's go look for her!"
