The tournament was now reaching its later stages. These two fights would determine who would face each other for the title of UA’s best fighter, which was nothing official but essentially how the students saw it -- the ones who were still in the tourney, anyway. The others said it was a contest for “best one on one fighter”, and they weren’t wrong, but no one listened to them.
The arena was jam-packed as usual, as the first rays of springtime sun pierced through the hazy veil of late winter clouds. Four banks of bleachers were arranged around the stone square, fifty by fifty meters that served as the ring for this tournament. It had been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the last few days, thanks to the destructive power of some student’s quirks, others’ propension to use the stage itself as ammunition, and only through a clever partnership with an up-and-coming contractor taking full advantage of his and his employees’ quirks was it rebuilt on time for the next match.
As the first match of the afternoon was about to start, Geist-sensei reprised his role as an announcer. The two students entered one after the other while the bombastic teacher hyped them thusly:
“Entering now in the blue corner is Kirk Bluster! Perhaps the biggest surprise of this tournament, but he was able to trick his opponents into mistakes in the last round, ringing-out Risaka Reinacht and Elise von Eisenberg with the endurance and clever plays of a sportsman! Some say he benefitted from his clubmate’s kind nature last round, but the results are here, he’s in the semi-finals! His first match put him opposite Melody Miro in what was decidedly a foreigner’s bracket -- we guarantee that’s the luck of the draw, folks! Nonetheless, the president of UA’s Sports Club has more than one trick up his fleshbag backpack, and he will have to make full use of them against this opponent!”
A pause was marked before the second fighter entered the ring.
“And in the red corner, Shindou Tetsuko! My pinky says she was the first member of the Sports club, so this should be an interesting match! They play together as teammates in the school’s football club, but now they’ll have to fight each other as opponents in this tournament! As both a warrior and a goalkeeper, she has earned a reputation as an impassable wall, but she is certainly not a defanged tiger either, with her unparalleled mastery of swordsmanship! Indeed, some of you might have recognized the Shindou name, and I can assure you she carries it with all the pride -- and skill -- that come with such a prestigious name! Who will win, the storied sword of Shindou, or the underdog baseball bat of Bluster? This is what we’re here to find out!”
The crowd and the students were given some time to settle. A referee made his way to the center of the stone ring, called both students for a reminder of the rules -- the usual “I want a clean fight, no hits below the belt,” except he didn’t say the last part because there was no rules about hitting below the belt. In fact, the rules pretty much amounted to “don’t kill each other, remember you’re on TV and you represent the school, don’t be an idiot.”
Soon they were sent back to their corners, and Geist took his mic back. “And now, without further ado… Let’s kick this match off! Fight!”

"So yeah..." "Good friend of yours, huh?" "Yup." "You are more popular with girls than I thought!" "HUH!?" "Jokes aside, let me remind you, that semi finals are..." "Yeah, yeah! I know. Much harder than the third round. No other person to punch the heck out of other contestant." "Exactly. But also..." "I know, I know! She is way faster and she has a sword that will propably cut through my bat with ease!" "No, no, no! Just wanted to remind you that you're in the semi-finals! You've done plenty well already! So if there is a time to stop worrying too much about it, it's whilst fighting a friend of yours!" "But uh...!" "Have fun with it you hear. You seemed awfully serious last time I called you so... Wanted to make sure you are actually having fun." "Well OF COURSE I AM!" "You can only say it so loudly before it sounds fake!" "SORRY!"Honestly, Kirk had been taken a little bit by surprise... instead of getting lots of pushing even further forward, his grandpa was instead telling him to... take it easy. But, it did feel really dang good. It almost felt like a confirmation that he had done well enough, that his grandpa wouldn't force him to go home anymore! And his words did hold truth in them. Last match he had been scared to death because of Risaka just being there... only to successfully knock her out in the end. And that lost showdown with Elise, he was still surprised how well that had gone for him. A long breath in and a way longer sigh erupted from him like from a boiling pot finally taken off of the lid. He couldn't help but feel way more relaxed, laying down on the bench in the waiting room, whilst stretching his legs.
...But Tetsuko... Well, it was gonna be hard fight, that's for sure. But what was going through his mind was more about what she thought about Elise losing. Elise herself had seemed really excited to fight her face to face. But they were a couple... it made sense... Kirk suddenly shook his head. Why was he feeling so sad about it? He had won fair and square! She wouldn't be mad at him! Besides, they had been friends since the school had pretty much started! That sort of stuff happened all the time! Atleast Kirk didn't think she disliked him. "GAH! Okay! First things first..." Atleast he knew what he was gonna do first in the arena...
The crowd was pretty much as packed as the earlier day, if not more so. The cheers were absolutely deafening, and Kirk couldn't almost hear his steps, as he walked over to the arena, glancing in Tetsukos direction. "Man, way bigger crowd than in the games back home, that's for sure!" He said outloud... he scratched the back of his head. He got a feeling of dej'avu... not surprising. It was so impressive you could say things twice. The introductions of the fighters were ringing out with Kirks coming first, and instinctively, he was looking at which was the blue corner... As he heard about a rumor going about. "Eh?" He blinked a couple of times, with one side of his lips opening up in confusion. 'benefited from kind nature'? What did he mean by that? He slapped the sides of his face. "Bfeh, just some fighting words I suppose! Taunting me up to fight proper!" He just proceeded to spin his arm by the elbow a couple of times. They didn't need to worry about that! He had plenty of energy in store!
Tetsukos introduction on the other hand, was pretty much spot on! Impassable wall indeed! But yet another wording choice hit his ears. "UNDERDOG!?" Kirk actually got a bit flustered about that one, as he shrugged and patted his head with his shoulder a couple of times. "I mean, yeah it's true but... you don't need to say it outloud!" He almost felt like Geist was implying he was a cheater or something to make it this far! However, when the invitation to come to the middle of the field was called out, He felt his heart pumping with anticipation, as he walked towards Tetsuko... The girl that had suggested he should start the sports club in the first place... Geists given message was obvious. but what followed, could have been expected as Kirk lifted his arm up, like for an arm wrestling contest, clearly expecting Tetsuko to grip it. "Now bro... I dunno if you much rather wanted to fight me or Elise but..." his grip would clearly tighten on her hand. "Let's make it a clear rule not to hold back, you know! Although that much is obvious right, hehe?" He would lock eyes with her, and look at her intensely, with his face gaining a healthy blush from the intensity...
Only for him to eventually turn his sight away from her a bit awkwardly as he released his grip and walked to his corner, patting his cheeks. Dagnabbit, this was a bad time to be scared... if that's what it was.
As the call for match was started, Kirk ripped a ball from his "bullet belt", and started bouncing it against the ground, whilst he pulled his tennis racket from his pouch and walked a little bit towards the middle. Kirk knew that if he just went for a straight up attack, he would eventually lose with a counter slash, or just from getting too tired bashing against her defense... So... he threw the ball into the air, and smacked it in her direction with a powerful swing, like a first pitch, while preparing his body at a somewhat safe range to dodge whatever would happen.
After all, she too knew what he was capable of.

Summary: - Thinks about things that have happened. - Is a bit confused about all the things referring to him as an underdog. - Talks things with Tetsuko in the middle. - ACTUAL COMBAT STARTS - Walks a bit forward, and launches a ball a bit laxly in her direction to see what she would do. What happens to the ball is up to you.

One step closer. Every fight was one. step. closer. To what? Rhe consolidation of pride? The affirmation of strength, the acquisition of glory? Perhaps a step closer to all these things. At this point, Tetsuko didn't quite know what she was fighting toward, nor when she'd know she reached it. However, she had a good enough idea of why she fought, a strong enough will, and a steady enough sense of purpose. Honor. It was all for honor. To her family, to herself, to the one who'd lost her own... Proving herself here would lead to claiming that honor she sought, Tetsuko reminded herself once again. She repeated that to herself as she sat in the training room, breathing steadily, still trying to recover from the previous fights. Physically, she was fine, thanks to the school's world class facilities. Mentally? Tetsuko was starting to wear, for with every step further into this tournament, the burden on her shoulders just continued to grow... Even against Kirk, she felt the stress of her pride and responsibility. Even against someone she should have anticipated enjoying fighting against, Tetsuko was starting to feel weary, battered. Questions over what victory would even mean began to stir, however they were quickly dispelled. Before Tetsuko had much chance to overthink things more, it was time to head out into the arena, where she'd been facing one of her closest friends. At least he was someone Tetsuko respected on the level of a sportsman, someone she felt very comfortable competing against. Although it was terrible to see Elise affected by her loss, some small, guilty part of Tetsuko... Was quite glad... That this samurai, with all her deadly focus and heavy burdens, wouldn't have to raise her blade against someone she was so afraid of hurting. _________________________________________________________ Tetsuko walked into the arena with the same steely gaze she'd worn in the last couple of bouts. The eyes of pure determination, burning pride and willpower, an intense focus on nothing short of complete victory. Even Kirk's casual nature didn't sway the intense look from the swordswoman... As she entered, she paid little mind to what the announcers said. Her focus was entirely on her opponent, on the clever and tough Kirk Bluster. He had more brains than most gave him credit for, at least when it came to physical activity (fighting included) so Tetsuko wasn't about to start underestimating the boy on that level. She'd need to keep her focus on him. Which was why his casual approach took her off guard at first, though when he extended out his hand, things became a bit more clear. Tetsuko's expression softened slightly, as she grasped his hand firmly and nodded at his words. Warriors alike, they were. Which only created more honor in this fight. "You don't need to worry about me holding back. I'll give you my best, and nothing less."Tetsuko affirmed with a strong nod, her discerning and sharp eyes still piercing into her opponent. The girl relaxed slightly from the exchange, but remained with those burdens on her shoulders, and when they were in their corners again, that certainly still hadn't changed. These two warriors would clash, each with something to prove. The battle began, and the Shindou girl immediately stepped forward in defensive stance, her hands open and arms crossed, ready to 'draw' one of her blades... Kirk had quite the unique and unpredictable fighting style, so Tetsuko didn't want to immediately rush in. Instead, she slowly stalked around... Awaiting his first move! It soon came, Kirk using his equipment to smack a ball her way! A straightforward move, the boy clearly testing the waters himself. Tetsuko responded quickly, thrusting a hand forward as a katana sprouted from it, forming her 'Yukifuri' right away! The iron quickly took shape, thrusting outward to impale the ball as it came in. Smiling thinly to herself, Tetsuko quickly flicked the ball off her blade, before facing Kirk once more. "That all you got?"Tetsuko taunted, before darting forth with her sword in an offensive stance. She raised her grip into a high, overhead stance, a quite threatening position to be sure, as she rushed straight toward Kirk! A reckless looking option, though Tetsuko knew it was really her best shot to close distance! As always, Tetsuko kept her head held high. The already silly worry of her being angry about him beating Elise was pretty much washed away with her nods, and her affirmation of fighting at full power on both sides made kirk feel a bit happier... yet also a bit worried. Now there was no going back. It was not going to be an outright brawl matching power. It was instead going to be all about him being able to keep up and strike when it counts. There was no Risaka to punch her before the duel. There was not going to be a distraction like Elises sharp tendrils. Just all of his training, all of his sports items...
And every single bit of his quirk... He needed to use it proper if he wanted to stand even a chance. A thought that was only empowered with the loud *SNICHT!* that pierced with ease through the warm-up ball sent her way. Her defensive readiness was still as effective as ever even outside of the goal! Kirk leaned forward, like a tennis player would, as she sent a little taunt his way. "Just checking if you remembered to warm-up, you know!" Definitely not all of his strength. But as soon as he said it, the girl had already flicked the pierced ball away, as it bounced and rolled on the field, and immediately dashed towards him!
This however meant, that going with a tennis like style, was a right call! It was pretty much made for quick side to side movements to hit the ball back whenever one came your way! However, it was pretty much as useful whilst dodging an obvious ball flying towards you! With a quick step to the side, as she ran, He was barely able to dodge the metallic weed cutter from slicing a part of his shoulder off, as he wound up his racket to same direction... However, a slightly loudish clap of his racket holding fist against his palm sounded, as his legs caught him afterwards and squatted downwards... with him in this position, it allowed him to in his own form of offensive. Normally, he would have probably just gone for a swing of his racket and been done with it, but the way he had seen Elise fly back in their round from a smack of his pouch had given him an idea. With a strong bounce given by a kick against the ground after the dodge, his body was aligned in the classic worm of a footballer tackling somebody with back and shoulder in front, ready to smack into her shoulder at great force "I think..."
However, what followed, was his pouch opening and launching itself outwards like a catapult, giving a little bit of extra oomph, and outright pushing him backwards a little bit to get some distance again if successful! "THIS is more like it!" In a way, it was a very simple way to use his quirk in combat, not really anything that complicated... but it did pack a punch that he hadn't really tapped on before! After the attack however, since he had pushed himself forward or backward, he needed a couple of steps in either direction to gain back his composure, but, soon he had picked up another ball into his hand from his chest.
Summary: - Yeah, Kirk was one hundred percent expecting the first ball not to go through. - Answers the taunt! - Thanks to being in a tennis like position, he is able to dodge the overhead slash... albeit barely with his size and her speed. - Winds up his racket to bend his body to be back and shoulder towards Tetsuko... - And then pushes himself into a classic football tackle, with an extra smack from the pouch for good measure! - If the attack hits, he will stumble a bit with his footing backwards, while if dodged or pouch dodged, he will take a couple of extra steps forward. - readies a ball from his chest again.

Nothing less than her all.
That was what Tetsuko promised, and exactly what she gave. Not just out of respect for her fellow sportsman, but also simply out of necessity. The honor of her fallen mother, the pride of her mighty heritage, demanded nothing but her maximum potential.
With a capable defence, Tetsuko pierced the ball Kirk had launched, casting it aside before rushing straight toward him. Unable to predict how he'd handle the beginning of their fight, Tetsuko had decided the most important thing to do was close the distance between them. If she could do that, she could limit his ability to use the tools he had on hand, while putting herself at the advantage.
After all, close range was her territory.
Her downward cleave was meant to put him on edge, and it succeeded to that end. Her grip firm yet deft, even as Kirk dodged, Tetsuko fixed her intense gaze upon him, upon the opponent she had to fell. His massive frame was quite contrasted against her own compact form, but Tetsuko felt little fear from Kirk's size.
It's just as easy to cut an ogre as it is a hare, her Grandfather would so.
However, this ogre had some tricks up his sleeve, as after dodging Tetsuko's swing he quickly transitioned into a tackle-like position, charging shoulder-first towards the swordswoman! With little room to get a good preemptive hit from her position, Tetsuko stepped back quickly, moving her sword's grip into a downward-pointing stance with hands at the hilt and spine of the blade, that would block Kirk's shoulder with force, giving her resistance that nonetheless was a bit jarring once he slammed into her!
Iron spurs emerging from her feet, Tetsuko managed to hold her ground, until his pouch catapulted forth and struck further up her blunt blade, knocking back Tetsuko with powerful kick! Her foot picked off the ground as she staggered back, onto one knee from the sheer power, giving Kirk some distance...
He really was an ogre... A grappler with great force that Tetsuko would need to be careful to defeat. To show that close range was a territory in which she would not be challenged. As Kirk reached for another ball, he wouldn't find the pressure from Tetsuko easing up. Pushing off from her knelt position with a vicious look on her face, she'd rush towards him again, moving her sword to a one-handed grip, starting with a quick thrust towards his midsection, simply to put him on the defensive, before shifting her grip... "Koijosho!" 恋上昇 Ascending Carp Tetsuko swung her sword again right after her thrust extended, in a rapid upward slash aimed right at the wrist of the hand that was reaching for or held a ball! Following it up with impressive fluidity, Tetsuko twisted her body as her slash moved up, stepping forward and shifting her stance deftly to transition into another upward swing almost right away, this time aimed at Kirk's jaw! She let her slash move up as she stepped forward, her other empty hand extended backward, out of sight, but ready to strike... words: 000 • tags: you • notes: stuff

If Kirks body wasn't so prepared to do its thing, the outright intimidating glare from Tetsuko could have most likely gutted through him on its own. It was almost like a separate knife in and off itself, able to probably send chills down a villains spine! However, in a situation like this, the only way he could win, was going forward, just like before with no regrets! This thought was just empowered by the collision of his shoulder against her blade. In a normal situation, with a blade like Elises tendrils, his arm would have propably been cleaved in twain, just from his strength pushing against it... But Tetsuko had dulled it... It almost felt like she was giving him a bit of leeway in that regard. After all, with a goalie such as her taking his blows, she wouldn't be budging anyway. However, as his pouch smacked into her, that little help expanded into some proper damage! The sheer strength of it pushed him and Tetsuko flying a bit backwards, away from each other! Even if she was as strong and defensive as a brick wall, she still had the weight of a girl! And that allowed him to push her around just a bit! Not as much as Elise taken off-guard, but enough for him to prepare for any future attacks! Or so he had thought. There was a loud kicking sound against rock, an all too familiar sound when running indoors during school hours! And as with him, it meant that something was dashing towards him at high speeds. And of course, the only thing in the field, was Tetsuko, with her blade pointed directly at his chest, like trying to pierce through him into a muscly shishkabob! "EEEH!?" Kirk barely had time to wind up his racket again, pulling the ball backwards as he did... But then there was something that was so loud, it could have come out from his own voicebox! An attack name, that had Kirk majorly confused! "C-COY WHAT...?!" There were two loud clangs of metal hitting against hard material... the blade swing towards his arm had gotten a counter swing from kirk, the racket redirecting the slash away but, whilst still midswing, the sudden second uppercut of a blunt blade smacked against it...
The sheer strength behind it pushed it upwards, leading the racket and the blade to both smack Kirk in the jaw! He could feel his teeth smack together, not allowing him to finish his gasp in surprise, as he felt the weight of his legs knock him flying backwards, barely landing on his feet again. It sure as hell was a reminder of the gap between speeds of the duo too. Tiny bit of blood gave a taste in his mouth, as he quickly spat it on the ground. "Man... That's a Special move alright!" Credit where credit was due. However, Kirk could get tricky too... and he had to too. Since like Emi had said, whenever he picks up a ball, everybody knows what it will mean. However, the thing he could do to make it unpredictable...
Was make it extra showy!
The distance between them was of course much shorter, than when he had originally thrown the ball at her, but in this case, that was actually a minor advantage! "GET READY!" The distance around her was much shorter too afterall! He lifted his hand, and smacked the ball in it against the ground hard, making it bounce in Tetsukos general direction... However, Whilst he was doing that, he would dash in a straight line to her side, whilst grabbing another ball from his chest in a similar motion and throwing it again, and then again behind her, with each dash forming one base of a baseball diamond! However, when he reached the third base, he instead squatted, and pushed himself towards her pouch first, as it launched towards her once again! Now, with his speed, this wouldn't be possible, but he hoped that the thrown balls would offer enough of a distraction and make the last attack big enough of a surprise to her, that it would give him a chance to attack her proper!
However... the fear was there, that she would interrupt it, and he would be rendered with a severe lack of ammo for the rest of the fight... No, just concentrate on what you are doing! IT WILL WORK! Summary: - Kirk is able to parry the attack made towards his ball holding hand with his racket swing... - ...But has no time to block the attack swung at his jaw. - Is pushed back a little bit. - Spits blood a little bit. - BOLD MOVE INCOMING! - Tries to Dash around Tetsuko in a baseball diamond shape, bouncing balls off the ground in her direction. - After that distraction and reaching 3rd base, squats and pushes himself towards Tetsuko to launch his pouch in her direction once again.

Much like with her fight against Arthur, Tetsuko had to be very aware and conscious of her physical disadvantages against her opponent. Though she had speed and dexterity, if she managed it poorly she'd find herself crushed underneath the bigger, heavier opponent. She was hardier than most girls her age, but against trained masculine athletes, she didn't stand a chance in a clash of raw strength.
So it would have to be skill that she relied on, rather than overwhelming force.
That pouch of his was strong, blocking it was not a long-term solution, considering he could ring her out with sheer force if she wasn't paying attention to her position. However, the pouch had its own weaknesses too, weaknesses she'd have to exploit to surpass the cannon-like force it had at close range. Of course, that didn't mean that Tetsuko would be backing down from close range either, and she quickly rushed right back in with a viscous combination technique. Ascending Carp was the perfect choice when it came to burst-fire attacks, the unpredictable but flexible rotations allowing for rapid and deadly swings. The initial thrust had done it's job, putting Kirk's guard up and setting his defense up to be broken right through with the consecutive swings. The second had been enough to land Tetsuko's first clean hit, sending Kirk back and putting a satisfied grin on her face. Her empty hand had been readied, and remained poised and hanging suspiciously at her side, as she angled her stance toward Kirk to hide it from sight... Her invisible sidearm.. "Don't tell me you don't have any special moves of your own..." Tetsuko taunted, and would promptly get what it was she was tempting! The distance was short, and Tetsuko's one handed guard might've seemed like a very risky position to be in, but it wasn't quite as dangerous as it looked... Ultimately, it wouldn't be too risky at all, as Kirk opted to use some of ammunition on her! A ball slammed against the ground, and Tetsuko quickly slashed her blade across to deflect it away... In an, admittedly, somewhat awkward manner. Truth of it was: Kirk's fighting style was so unconventional, that Tetsuko wasn't exactly trained to deal with the weirder aspects of it! It wasn't often swordsmen were trained against bouncing balls after all. As such, when she pivoted to try and deflect the next ball, her deflection wasn't quite as good, causing a glancing hit against her leg that staggered her a bit and had her grunt from the impact. Her next pivot was even less lucky, hitting her in the ribs and causing her to wince as she rapidly readied her blade for the next... Only for Kirk to squat again and charge after the third ball! He was a clever ogre, however... Tetsuko had never let go of that hidden blade. "Ginhari."The Shindou girl's empty hand was suddenly thrust forward towards Kirk, an empty palm extending towards the boy as Tetsuko leapt backwards. It wouldn't be enough to stop him from gaining on her, at least, not on it's own... Just before Kirk could hit her with his charge, iron suddenly exploded from Tetsuko's palm, a blunt spear shooting out of her hand and right at Kirk's attack, aiming to meet his pouch head on with this burst of metal! It would continue after impact, aiming to push interrupt Kirk and make it unwise for him to keep pushing against the metal pillar! This was why she'd had her hand poised, for this attack that could interrupt on ogre's charge! Or, so Tetsuko hoped... words: 000 • tags: you • notes: stuff

As said before, Kirk knew how defensive Tetsuko could be, and the pose she had adopted after her fierce attack just made it even more clear to him. And that was why he had gone for such a high movement maneuver, with multiple attacks from different directions. If she didn't know some sort of ballerina spin for blocking, atleast some of the attacks would hit their mark! Kind of like how filling all the bases would atleast land one player back to the homebase after a decent hit, even with the rest of them outed! In a way, it could be considered a special move like Tetsuko had taunted... But Kirk was more of an in the moment kind of guy. The most he usually did was the classic "Kirk Buster", and even that was usually for moves he did at full power, not for tactical moves like this! Besides, even Kirk knew that screaming your plans out loud wasn't a great idea!
The main problem in fighting Tetsuko, was that he could never really memorize what each of her shouts meant.
As he kept running without obstacles, it was literally like having hit a homerun! The only sounds besides the rapid steps of his legs and rabid huffs, were the grunts coming from Tetsukos direction! It almost implied that he was one step ahead of her! And with that, as he reached the metaphorical third base, his charge begun, and at this point, he really felt like shouting! "Kiiiirk...!" And in that moment, his back muscles tightened, he posed his arms and...
Before he could even extend it properly backwards, He could feel something metallic press against it violently! "GUH?!" The pouch was kept partially from opening, heck, on the position it was pushing, the pouch was clearly pushing back against his inner back! Having put his full weight on the thrust, he flew a bit back, before slamming his feet against the ground, as dust rose from the stone flooring! "Hrrrrrg...!" The sound was just like when he usually tried to hit the breaks after running quickly towards something, like a very frustrating sounding squeak toy, until the pushing momentum finally stopped! Not from her stopping the attack, but him pushing himself against it with enough strength to keep himself still!
...Kirk was again in a fine pickle... if he just stayed like this, he would tire out in no time. And that would mean getting pushed out of the arena. Darren would laugh the hell out of it, if he would lose like that, and grandpa would propably chew him out. No, THINK! Come to think of it, aside from this awkward final blow, the multiple attacks seemed to work pretty well! So... Maybe if he... YEAH! That should work!
Tetsu could see kirk reaching his hand over to the other grip sticking out of it. If she hadn't at this point stopped pushing him back, Kirk would do a little spin to the side, and smack the spike away from himself, as he regained his footing. Then, he sheathed his racket, replacing it with his thick baseball bat. A brief breath in... and then, he rushed once again towards Tetsuko, whilst pushing the air out of his nostrils like an ox and shouting out loud his attacks name!
"KIRK! TWISTER!!!"
And with that, when he either reached Tetsuko, or an attack was sent his way, He would swing a light blow with his bat first to get the first strike out of the way, or to blow the attack out of his way! Continuing his spin and moving forward, he would extend his pouch outward, this time to give a powerful smack of much bigger size than the initial attack, That would try to knock her off balance! And then, as a finishing move, with all this momentum and power gathered by the two previous swings, He would grab his baseball bat with both hands, and swing it at full strength towards her! The momentum of air cooled down his sweaty face, as whether or not the move made actual contact, he would shout a little bit of a taunt of his own towards her! "Get it!? *huff* cause there is a twist to it!"
Was it just him, or was it getting warm?

Tetsuko was getting a better handle on Kirk the more they fought, and was starting to see an underlying flaw in his techniques. One that, fortunately, she believed she could exploit easily enough. As he charged her again, Tetsuko would intercept and fade back, using her iron spike, her invisible sidearm, to intercept and interrupt his charge. It was as successful as she'd hoped, striking not only his pouch but also pushing into his back, forcing him to stop and take some of the damage of the blunt, loaded spear.
Had it been a sharpened weapon, the results would have been much more conclusive, but Tetsuko wasn't interested in maiming anyone.
They were both pushed back from the explosion of metal, Tetsuko jamming her blade against the ground to stop herself from pushing back just as Kirk had put the brakes on himself. Eventually, she lost the momentum of her thrust, and quickly flung her hand away, letting the iron disconnect as she tossed the iron spear aside. It clattered over nearby, and Tetsuko raised her trusty blade at the ready.
Things seemed to be in Tetsuko's favour, but she didn't let her guard down. She was getting too close to the edge of the arena for comfort, and couldn't keep retreating from Kirk even if it let her get some hits in. The girl would need to expect her own weaknesses to be exploited, and subvert those very expectations...
The Shindou girl re-assumed her defensive stance, the counter-focused staple of her style, and stood ready for Kirk's next attack. This time, she wouldn't let him make her lose any more ground. This time, she'd be immovable. He took out a new weapon, a baseball bat this time, and Tetsuko saw fit to follow his lead, and change up her own style. Iron flowed from her hands, extending the blades hilt and blade a bit, making it heavier and less nimble, but the added heft made it even deadly. Holding one hand towards the bottom of the hilt and the other close to the blade, Tetsuko gripped the swordi in an upright stance, as she stood ready for Kirk's approach! A breath in, a breath out, as the combat started to wear on her, yet she was not nearly ready to yield. No, she would still meet him head on! As Kirk cried out his attack name, Tetsuko focused on his approach, his initial light blow being quickly deflected by his blade. What he did next confirmed the pattern that Tetsuko saw to explot: Kirk was far too direct and reckless with his attacks. He employed brute force to overwhelm, but if she could meet and intterrupt that force... Well, she could show him an immovable object that clashed against his unstoppable force! His next attack was one Tetsuko was getting used to, the way that pouch extended. It had surprised her the first time, but not again. As it stretched at her in an attempted smack, she shifted to the side, deflecting it with her blade to minimize the damage! Her stance was shocked backward a bit from the force, and even deflecting it hurt her arms, but she remained poised and ready! Like the freight train he was, Kirk chugged on forward, however, this would prove to be something Tetsuko had anticipated! As soon as she saw both hands on his bat, she saw her chance to strike. His spin had momentum, but it gave her a chance to move. As he swung his weapon around with force, Tetsuko did something he probably didn't expect. She moved even closer. Dashing forward, Tetsuko raised her arms in the air, as iron burst from them! Cutting through her sleeves, iron erupted over her limbs, covering and shielding them as Kirk's bat swung around, and Tetsuko raised up her blade. Her goal was simple: To get close enough, such that she'd cramp Kirk and minimize the damage of the bat with her sturdy iron armored arms! If successful, the thinner end of the bat would collide with her armored arm, a slight cracking sound made that was partially the iron buckling, and partially her arm. Tetsuko winced in pain and staggered slightly to the side, but remained with her sword raised, and now very close to Kirk. One of her arms flared with pain, but she could still hold a sword, and she could still swing it with force... Plus, from this position... Kirk had left himself open! "How's this for a twist?"With fury and speed, at the moment after she'd took Kirk's attack head-on, Tetsuko decided to make it worth it and dish back some punishment! Hopefully catching Kirk off guard as both hands were on the bat at her side, Tetsuko raised her arms and brought down a vicious but powerful downward swing, aimed right at Kirk's head! Supported by the weight of her blade and her ironclad arms, she'd deliver a meteoric blow from a firm stance. A simple attack, but one that displayed control and raw power! The problem of rushed decisions. You were bound to forget something obvious along the way. And one of the most obvious things was, that if a goalkeeper could keep his eyes on the ball, then there was no chance it was going to go through. And in this case, she was pretty much locked on him, looking at every step he did... as he just rushed head-on towards her. If the enemy had been somebody different, perhaps they would have bent and accidentally jumped out of the way. But no, he knew her better than that. and at the worst moment possible, he had forgotten it for a moment.
His determination hadn't wavered yet, when he saw her lift up her sword. Quick, consecutive attacks seemed like still a trick to use! However, the moment there was a loud clang of his bat against her steel with the first blow, It was like a speech bubble rose above his head. A question mark. That inkling of doubt, only mildly lightened, as he smacked his pouch into her and she was pushed backwards, implying that his plan was succeeding. But as he made that final turn, to actually see the posture of his opponent again... She was ready. Like a catcher in baseball, with a glove perfectly in position to grab the chaotic ball hurtling towards her... As she outright charged forward to catch it! Kirks eyes widened as she just lifted a metallic arm in the way of his bats thinner part, a loud echo coming out of the collision... and making Kirk sweat bullets.
and then came her own taunt. Kirk had always been the sort of fellow who had a hard time throwing and taking proper insults, and now that he felt like a cornered rat, Tetsuko lifted up her blade, and swung it downwards, like an executioners blade! The scary moral hitting swing of the blade, hit Kirk pretty much in the core... He himself had gotten himself into this situation, and now, he had to take the consequences! His body reacted on instinct, with a move that was very much synonymous with Kirks training regiment since the beginning, as he instinctively let go of his bat, lifting his arms up to try and cover his head...
And squatted.
The muscles in his thighs tightened to their utmost extreme, as his head dove downwards, almost like begging for just a little bit more time to avoid getting hit. His body prepared itself as well as it could... and then the impact hit, like a giant pile of air, pressing him down even harder than the time he had gotten an uppercut to the jaw, with his feet buckling and pressing themselves harder against the ground. But for some reason... he didn't feel the pain against his head... But against his back. The realization hit him again. He had opened his pouch naturally whilst preparing for the incoming blow! The one thing he was used to doing with his pouch, that he knew it was good for! Taking blows! He hadn't actually used it purposefully defensively at all during this match! Man, he felt so stupid!
But now, with the strength of the swing still pushing him downwards, the pouch keeping him in the game, as the muscles in it rippled, trying to stay solid, but bending downwards again... Kirk, proceeded to place his body against the ground, in a familiar pose to many americans... As his squatted legs prepared themselves...
And pushed him forward! sliding forward on his stomach, just like back in the Elise match in a way a baseballer tried to get to the last base in a hurry, He now slid his full body at full power towards the Tetsukos legs! With such weight behind it, and she herself going hard at an attack currently must have meant, that she was perfectly distracted for it to go through, perhaps slipping her right off of her feet... and if it did, what awaited next, was yet another, almost already trademarked smack of Kirks pouch, to launch her into the air and away from him, to give himself a bit of a breather!
"Man... *huff* You almost got me there! *puff*" His breathing would show, that he was definitely running a bit low on fuel, as he pushed himself back up, pulling out the racket again, and a single ball... After his little trick, and the starting launch, he had 4 on hand... but a couple strewn across the stage... His brains were rustling up something, as he was seemingly taking a breather.

The Ichimonji was, in essence, a simple attack. Yet, if performed properly, quite devestating. Tetsuko's own variation added in the weight and defence of her iron armor, only adding to the crushing force. The technique required extremely precise posture, which Tetsuko gained through training, and an opportunity strike, which the ironblooded girl had created by intercepting Kirk's combination assault! Her arm ached, certainly not at peak performance anymore, but it was worth it for the chance to strike that Tetsuko had made for herself. With a vicious stance and a firm posture, the Shindou swung her blade down with all the force of an executioner's axe, an unstoppable crashing force that seemed like it could crack open the earth beneath them. A technique that embodied its name: Meteor. Kirk squatted deep and threw his hands up to cover his head. Protecting one's head was a good instinct to have, and would save him from having his skull cracked by the viscous attack. It wouldn't save him from the force, however, as the meteor crashed right down on top of his back... Or rather, his pouch! In an effort that would save his head from the executioner's judgement, the sportsman utilized his pouch to mitigate the damage of the attack, causing the Shindou girl to raise an eyebrow, impressed with his reflexes. His Quirk was, to many, a simple one. Weak, even. But Tetsuko knew well that it wasn't about the strength of the Quirk, it was about how you used it! Kirk was showing he could use his own like a master! Thus, Tetsuko would spare no expense, and show her own skill and training! The meteor continued to crash down, not showing any signs of stopping in spite of Kirk's valiant attempts to resist it. Fortunately for him, the boy soon realized his attempts to slow the attack down were in vain, and opted for a different approach instead. When it looked like he'd been dropped down to the ground, the boy squatted his legs again... And dropped to the ground, taking a desperate dive at Tetsuko's legs! He slipped from the meteor's grasp, causing the blade to smash down into the ground behind him, with such force that bits of the broke off from the punishment it had taken! Tetsuko had dedicated so much to that hit, so Kirk's grabbing of her legs was quite successful, knocking Tetsuko over as she pulled back her sword in anticipation of another hit, which Kirk's pouch would smack against to launch her into the air! Not only that, but this smack proved to be the breaking point of her fractured blade, sending a bit of it breaking off and cutting Tetsuko's cheek as it flew away. The force of his pouch jarred Tetsuko's arm more, as she was knocked back into the air. Hitting the ground, she rolled deftly to absorb most of the force, but was still left a bit shaken as she finally got to her knees, pushing herself up with her broken sword. Her breathing was heavier, her face bleeding, and one of her arms was far too sore to use properly. Tetsuko, nonetheless, got to her feet, tossing away her broken blade and staring Kirk down. "You're a resilient ogre, that's for sure..." Tetsuko huffed, her tiredness starting to show, though not as much as Kirk's. It was clear her focus was only becoming more single-minded the more the fight dragged on, as Tetsuko saw just how dangerous Kirk was in close quarters. Not that she was at all discouraged. In order to get a good hit in, she'd need to remain calm and focused, and be ready to be unpredictable in the face of whatever he threw her way. Tetsuko, without a blade in hand, took a defensive stance, staring down Kirk. "Done with your break? I could do this all day, you know." words: 000 • tags: you • notes: stuff [/div]

The moment really felt like time had slowed down. In such a brief moment, a lot of things happened. The sound of the sword crashing against the ground behind him, the feeling of metal against his pouch, the sight of Tetsuko flying over him, the loud thump of her landing, As Kirk himself rose up... And the moment that finally made time once again roll like normal, was a little bit cocky sentence, that sounded a little bit more like 'I am actually still standing', than someone who was winning. The tiny break, and shifting of looks, the break in all this rushing, had Kirk feel the blood gushing into his head. Almost like his skin was pulsating. But the only thing that could be seen from him outwards, was that he was red like someone who had just stepped out from a sauna.
And hearing Tetsuko refer to him as a resilient ogre... Well, Kirk couldn't help but laugh. He swiped sweat off of his forehead. "GREAT, HAHA!" A huge amount of relief washed over him, making him lean forward, continuing his chuckling, before straightening his back again. "...I mean, as a club leader... That's the least I should be able to be, right!?" A quick tap on his chest with his fist, with a tired grin. This were not the thoughts of desperation from the last match. The weight on his back was completely different. And with Tetsuko saying that... Kirk couldn't help but somehow feel reminded again about the one thing, that kept him worrying after losing fights or exercises, and everytime he compared his quirk to somebody else. He was in the semi-finals due to his own power.
...He was keeping up with the others well. Even if he was just an ogre. A little hint of respect, that he needed.
Of course, as soon as she got her position up again, she threw another taunt his way. This time about how long he was going to be just standing around taking a break. "Pffft, like I haven't been the one attacking! You are the one who is just sitting still!" Although, that was working for her pretty well! He stepped his foot forward, his head going from side to side, gathering the parts of his plans one more time in his head. A plan that was somehow supposed to get the ball through her impenetrable defense. And in that regard, it was just like kicking balls towards her. He had tried three times now, and he would say he had this time gotten at least one goal. He needed one more to tie it... if not even win!
And with that, He kicked the ground, And dashed forward, hastily once again, pitching the ball already in his hands towards Tetsuko, grabbing the baseball bat on the way, and keeping up the pace... But surprisingly, he was not running towards Tetsuko, but instead towards one of the balls that had hit her during his diamond shaped jog, while winding up a swing. "KIRK COMBO!" The first ball was launched towards Tetsuko, and immediately, Kirk proceeded to go for another one near it, swinging it at her immediately to follow it up! And then, came one more ball, which he threw up high... but this was no tennis ball. It was a hard baseball. Leather and all. With a quick drop, he threw the racket away... and grabbed his baseball bat proper, swinging at the ball whilst gripping it from both sides. it was a full power bunt! With that sudden swing, the ball once again smacked against the ground, flattening against it... And launching itself in Tetsukos general direction with way higher speeds than before!
However, the bunt allowed him to quickly prepare for a thing that was certainly coming: Tetsukos counterattack. He quickly lifted the bat back on his shoulder, preparing for yet another swing, and keeping an eye on his foe... Just like a batter against a pitcher...

Ogres, beasts, anything with superior physicality was naturally going to be more resilient. Kirk was no exception, Tetsuko's comparison of him to an ogre drawn from how he honestly seemed from her point of view. An imposing foreigner of larger height and build, a Goliath to her David. Yet, she'd held her own so far, both of them had, and were being taxed by the fight as at went on.
Who would hold out til the end was just a matter of time. Time, after which they'd see, if an ogre could be felled by a simple blade.
Kirk seemed amused by the compliment, his pride not wavering one bit, in spite of his thwarted combination attacks. Tetsuko wished she could laugh it off as easily, though even as her lips turned upwards in a small grin at his words, it didn't last long. The thrill of the fight, the fun of the clash, was still outweighed by the burden she felt. The burden of generations, the burden of a girl with a foolish goal, with a misconception of time that chained her to her duties. She wished she could enjoy this fight more. Yet, her responsibilities came first, and one was to win this fight. For no Shindou could take pride in being felled by an ogre. Even if he was, first and foremost, her friend... Tetsuko breathed in deeply, her stance growing firmer as she taunted Kirk. His reckless head-on approach, she needed that again... To show even that force would not make her yield. "Sitting still?" The Shindou girl scoffed, holding her head up proudly. "If that's a problem, then try and make me move." Fudoshin. Immovable Heart. The pride of Jikishinkage-ryuu, the core of their honor, would be Tetsuko's hope as she stood ready for the fight's inevitable conclusion. One arm gripped her sword tightly, the other, weakened arm held loosely at her side as it gradually healed. Battered and ready, she'd cut this ogre down with a decisive strike. That will would become reality, so she swore. "Their hands. My heart. Become immovable."Kirk charged towards her once again, a baseball pitched right her way in a clear attempt to keep her busy. With little choice but to respond, she swung her blade, deflecting it away as Kirk got another weapon in his hand and restocked on ammunition using one of the balls he'd hit before. Another came, and she deflected it, all the same, wincing as it glanced off her wounded arm. Kirk had thus far shown a pattern of using simpler attacks to set up a finisher, and this time was no exception, Tetsuko's eyes keenly watching him as he grabbed his bat... And sent an artillery blast her way! At least, that's what his grand slam might as well have been. His technique gave her time to see it coming at least, time to prepare to dodge it... Or, better yet... Take it head-on! As it hit the ground, Tetsuko did what looked like an insane move, rushing forward regardless of the rocket headed her way! What's more, she was angling her injured arm forward! Which was entirely her plan. To get close by any means, and now that Kirk had depleted his ammo... He couldn't escape. Kirk had relied too much on being able to pressure Tetsuko with his balls and sheer strength, and she'd relied too much on her speed and ability. It was time to turn the tables. The ball rocketed towards Tetsuko's injured arm, and as it did, iron flowed from it to weaken the impact... So although a frightening crack was heard as the ball slammed against her arm, and her teeth grit down hard in pain, the Shindou girl could remain to charge forward! With a ferocious look in her eyes, Tetsuko charged forward, her other arm hanging looser than ever. One arm down, but still moving forward, and with some tricks up her sleeve... He was clearly prepared for another strike, and Tetsuko wasn't going to let that happen. As soon as she was in range, her blade would thrust upward, aiming some quick attacks at his elbows to try and keep him deterred! Her stamina was showing, to be able to still do this after fighting on so long, however, she didn't just plan to keep him from attacking... Close range was her territory. So she'd make sure he had no choice but to face her here. Her skilled interceptions of Kirk's bat would mostly be a guise for her true attack. Subtly, she raised a foot and then slammed it down on one of Kirk's own! Iron spikes quickly emerged from around the edges of her sole, pinning her foot to the ground and this clamping over Kirk's to make sure he didn't go anywhere. Tetsuko's declaration was clear: They'd end this here, at this range. At the range she claimed dominance in! "We're both out of tricks..." Tetsuko uttered as she purposefully clashed her blade against Kirk's bat, trying to get a moment to collect herself. "So all I have left... Is my all." In grand fashion, she intended to give him just that. One arm down, her leg locked, but a blade in her hands. And a steel heart ready to be unleashed. Tetsuko breathed in deeply, and slipped her blade from Kirk's bat, giving him a chance to ready a strike... Not that she had any intention of letting him get that far. "Kuruizakura." 狂い桜 Crazy Sakura In a rapid explosion of attacks, Tetsuko begin swinging her blade rapidly at Kirk in this close range, a violent and rapid flurry that aimed to use her advantage in speed and skill to give her overwhelming offense. The attacks were quick and relentless, pushing her breathing with every swing of her blade, every delay and every realignment to try and get as many hits in on Kirk as possible. His bat, his head, his shoulder, his body, all targets in this flurry attack, that aimed to leave him no room to breathe, even as it drained away at Tetsuko's own breath! This was her way of showing him, that even if it wasn't her style... If she wanted to go on the attack... Well, if one cut wasn't enough for an ogre, she was willing to try as many as it needed to take this victory! words: 000 • tags: you • notes: stuff

As the balls flew through the air, Tetsuko stayed still and kept blocking them. Just like a goalie feeling the need to stay at her goal post. In that regard, Kirk was still unsuccessful in getting any true attacks through. However, Taking how many times he had attacked with the speed of those two original balls, it was to be expected. They still needed to be blocked! Which gave time for Kirk to prepare his actual full power blow, without any sort of distractions. If he had just gone for it, the girl would have probably interrupted it without even giving him a chance to wind up! As he wound his bat back, he could just stare at the ball, like praying that it would go through... Only to see the form behind it rush forward! A loud crack came, as the iron that was protecting her arm bent the ball sinking into it and pushing it to the side.
...But she didn't stop! That was a full power blow! Last time it had left her literally reeling and breathing in the grass mat! And that sound had been horrible! For a moment, Kirks mind was distracted with the thought of "Is she okay?!" like regretting what he had done to a friend of his... And with that, the wind up of the blow was delayed just enough for Tetsuko to reach him, and smack him in the elbows, lifting it up, and knocking him a little bit backwards in the process! "Ugh...!" all this with one hand. However, as he tried to back away, he could feel a sudden weight slam upon his toes, as his other shoe squealed behind him, keeping him still standing! He was literally now locked in front of her, and couldn't run, so naturally, the only thing he could do to quickly answer a thing like this, was go for a swing... but not a regular one. Instead of continuing the ferocious attack to her side, leaving himself wide open for an attack while it was going on...
He went for one more Bunt. Releasing one of his hands from the grip of the bat, he placed it on the top of it, pushing it downwards, like a sudden surprising hammer, and a shield on the front! A move that was desperate to just knock the person in front of him out, to give himself another moment to back off!
...but her cry of an attack implied something was coming. He could hear the clangs of metal against his own weapon, some weapons stabbing past it with ease hitting against his chest... and eventually, the sword pierced the bat itself. And the next following blows smashed the bat, with one separate piece in both of his hands... but the pounding of the iron swords didn't stop! They kept coming, hitting every single muscle in Kirks body like a therapeutically painful rain. His cheeks, his nose, his shoulders, his groin, his stomach, his knees, his shins, his thighs, his abs, his chest... Kirk was taking it all in one continuous flow, with the muscles in his body contorting to every single one of them... He didn't even have time to turn around.
But, as the girl finally stopped... Kirk was still standing. His nose bleeding, his shirt ripped, couple of huge bumps riddling his body, showing exactly where she had hit especially badly... But he was still breathing. Gasping for air, trying to still keep himself up. "...You know... Soccers not... the only sport... where you catch balls..." Maybe he could still try? He dropped the bats pieces and tried to reach for the racket in his pouch... but even that one moment of releasing tension, was a mistake. As he lifted his arms, that tiny amount of extra weight pulled behind him, pulled him backwards... and a huge pile of spit came out of his mouth with a loud "BLEH!" his knees visibly gave out, as his huge form fell backwards, the pouch flopping downwards like a huge parachute... As he fell on top of it.
His energy reserves were 100% empty. Not even enough to stand up anymore. His body shut down... but his heart beat strong and his chest lifted just a tiny bit with weakish breaths. He was finally knocked out cold.

As her flurry of blows was unleashed upon the other boy, Tetsuko's mind was focused on naught but two things. The foe in front of her, and her breathing. Everything else, every swing of her blade, was just a natural motion that followed from those two inputs. Pushing her what was left of her body through that one arm, Tetsuko took what little strength she had left and used to deliver countless cuts to the beast before her. Even an ogre's resilience made it apathetic to a single, meager slice, than her only option was to keep swinging her blade until such a foe was torn to shreds. Well, not quite so gruesome in this case, more like battered silly for Kirk. Of course, with how frenzied this technique was, it was taxing on the body, and Tetsuko soon found her breathing faltering, her swings growing more weary and more heavy, until finally her arm wasn't obeying her commands, the blade stopping at her side as a wave of dizziness washed over her, a combination of the exhaustion and pain flooding her system. Internally she screamed, trying to act, trying to finish her opponent before he could strike again! She had to be merciless, but there wasn't much left in her... Maybe one more block, one more strick, one more action, before she fell. She couldn't fall. Too much depended on her. She couldn't... Her eyes, as soft a blue as they were, seemed aflame with equal parts determination and desperation as she stood ready to fight til her last breath... Anticipating Kirk's next move... Only to realize, that... He was already beaten. "Hah... Sometimes the last few sakura fall later than the rest..." Was an old phrase Tetsuko repeated, the words of the 21st Headmaster when asked about how he'd dealt with his own battle-earned injuries... It seemed Kirk couldn't hold out any longer, and as he'd prepared to counterattack, the boy fell like a tree, Tetsuko staggering backward as she took her foot of his. When he hit the ground, she could have sworn she felt it shake beneath her feet. "It was... A good fight, Captain..."The Shindou girl said as she felt another spell of dizziness wash over her, dropping to one knee as she propped herself up on her sword. The crowds echoed around her, more noise to the compounding confusion, but the Shindou girl still had her focus on one particular point among those countless people. Her eyes drifted up towards the blurry spot where she presumed her mother was, if only for there were few others seated in that area... Every fight so far, Tetsuko had been drained to her last. Arthur. Akio and Arisu. Now Kirk. All had been formidable opponents, all had been fights she'd won by a hair's breadth. Not that it mattered. All that mattered was that as hard-fought as these victories were, Tetsuko could yet fight. She could yet win. She could yet claim that honor. "Will you be proud?"Were the last few words that absently escaped Tetsuko's lips before her dizziness, her sheer exhaustion from the third fight in three days to leave her like this, had her all but collapsing on the ground, held up only by her crutch of a sword. Strangely, amongst the blur, one other thought did cross her mind. These fights... They really had been... Quite fun, hadn't they? Maybe she was finally losing it. words: 000 • tags: you • notes: stuff
